yk just as real people shipping rubs me the wrong way, so does all the people out there saying "don't say they're gay just because they did xyz", because I never see people say "don't say they're straight because they did xyz" so that statement is reaffirming a heteronormative worldview.

Instead, how about we stop sexualizing and shipping celebrities entirely and call people out for those things.

There are probably tons of closeted celebrities out there and tying sexuality to every clothing choice, mannerism and how they act around their friends is really not gonna help them.

Yelling "straight men can wear dresses" when some celebrity dude decides to wear a dress, while technically correct, is not very affirming since you're still assuming a sexuality for this guy and pushing a label onto him.

Same goes for when two people of the same gender are very close publically and have never talked about their sexuality. Saying "they're not gay, they're just friends" is pushing a label onto them, because they might very well be gay and friends, those two statements are not mutually exclusive. So if it bothers you, just say "don't ship real people, they're just friends"

did you grow up with chronic pain? did you get called sensitive as a kid/teen with chronic pain? were you bombarded with wisecracks from adults who said you won’t know real pain till you get older? join my initiative to ban this vile practice from planet earth!

i had chronic pain as a kid. (still do now.) my physical ability was best in childhood, like, i could do cartwheels then, meanwhile i can’t walk now. but istg my pain was regularly at this very same level back in childhood. ok i have extra symptoms now which make things harder, but if we’re JUST focusing on the pain part, it’s often the same. this blows my mind. the level of pain that i have now, bedbound and with opioids and a million accommodations, is the same level i had when i was 10 when i was just walkin around all day, asking my teachers nicely if i could sit indoors during playtime. (they said no btw.) back then, every time i tried to tell people how much everything hurt, adults said i was “sensitive”.

was i sensitive? is that what i was?

I think i must have been insanely powerful as a 10 year old to be out and about with a level of pain that makes me nonfunctional as an adult. I wonder how many kids and teens are in that amount of pain right now and are being dismissed because of their age. i think the way adults treat children with long term pain is evil. “you don’t know real pain! it only gets worse as you get older! wait till you grow up!!”

i’m closer to 30 now than i am to 10, and the more hindsight i gain, the more i realise what a horrific violation it is that my pain was ignored when i was the most vulnerable to the trauma of unmanaged pain and had the least frame of reference for what level of agony is normal to experience while climbing stairs

OK. Tell them. Make it a teaching moment. Everyone who's in your movement learned the background from somewhere at some point, maybe this is that point for that person. Give them a jumping off point that they can dive into later.

OK. Then don't tell them. You don't have to be responsible for teaching people with a budding interest in your group the ins and outs and how-tos. That's fair and valid! It can be a lot of work. Someone else will handle it

OK. Then don't engage with them, if it's that bad. Maybe someone else will come around and tell them the history, maybe they'll pick it up on their own, maybe they'll just enjoy the fashion elements for awhile.

I feel like we have a few options here. People can either talk to them, share the history, share the values, share the praxis. Or they can just chase off anyone who even thinks about dipping a toe in their community, and then wonder why it's dying off later down the line.

I dunno, maybe I'm too naive and patient or whatever. But if people are entering your -punk spaces without knowing The Rundown of what you feel they need to know, maybe being nice about it and informing people instead of immediately assuming stupidity and malicious intent could help you make a new friend. Even the loudest voices in a space had to learn from somewhere, and not everyone has the luxury of being in the space as the History was Happening--whether it's an age thing or a not being aware of the space thing. Or maybe I just don't see what the big deal is behind people hating people who like the aesthetic of something and don't know the behind the scenes history about it yet.

Because I believe in the word 'yet.' No one comes into this world knowing everything about everything, and we're all constantly learning new things. I'm not gonna degrade someone and call them a poser for not knowing what I know. Because if it were me, interested in a scene but getting chased out and called a poser? I wouldn't hit the books and study up, I'd go 'that fuckin sucks, those people sucked' and then avoid anyone and anything having to do with it.

So chase people off and call them posers if you want. But if your community starts dwindling, don't be fucking shocked.

hot take probably but i'm still skeptical about the whole "jonmartin are trapped in the computer" theory.

people are acting like it's basically canon now when it's not. just because there are some thematic connections between chester and jon/norris and martin doesn't mean they're canonically trapped in the computer. it's possible but i would personally like the story to preserve the ambiguous ending in tma.

i think it's more likely that the voices are linked to jon and martin (and jonah, or whoever else) but it's not them directly. i think it would be pretty random too for them to die in the tma world and get stuck inside a computer.

To be serious for a minute I don’t even think I’d be sad if AidaIro kills Mitsuba again… just annoyed. It wouldn’t be a surprise, everyone expects it’s to happen, and I honestly don’t think it would be very good writing?? It’s just redundant… we’ve seen Mitsuba die several times before, we’ve seen Kou grieve. As he’s dead in the og timeline also it wouldn't really be a reason to convince Nene or Akane that the new timeline must be done. Don't get me wrong I think a lot of the fandom will be uspet, because he died, again. But honestly I struggle to see what purpose it would even serve for the the story, thats not just a repeat of a already done storyline I doubt it would even have real shock value considering people expect it…

Don't get me wrong it's not that I don't enjoy there writing and I'm not insulting what they've done so far, just wary for the future I suppose.

Not to say however if someone else in the cast dies I think that could be really interesting.(I don't think it can be Nene cause main character, or Akane because then there just kinda stuck in the new time and it gg, and I would hope it wouldn't be Aoi because she already has a kind of damsel in destress issue)

But honestly I really have no idea what direction AidaIros gonna go soooooo, tbh I think it would be really funny if the red house was just like, a normal house

Has anyone else noticed that the Skulltimate Secret dolls in general just aren’t the best quality?

The first couple lines were good but now it’s like they’re running out of ideas and designs and they all look kinda meh to me. Idk maybe that’s just me, but I feel like the last couple lines especially just aren’t that great quality wise.

Does anyone else see what I mean? This looks like a really big jump in quality to me and the newest ones make it even worse imo.

Like they aren’t horrible or anything, but the quality just doesn’t look as good to me compared to the earlier ones.

maybe hot take but… can we stop shaming people for writing/reading smut about real people? at the end of the day, writing is a form of creative expression. celebrities have full control over the content they consume online, and don’t have to read anything people write about them. unless a celebrity specifically states that they are uncomfortable with smut being written about them, let’s allow writers to express themselves freely and without judgment 🫡

also if you don’t like it… don’t read it! it’s quite simple :) smut isn’t hurting anyone. if you think it’s weird or gross, that’s okay. but don’t shame people who do enjoy it. thanks!

hmmm something about dominik haunting the narrative in king of scars. everything nikolai does is at least a little bit for him. he learns about the life of average ravkan people by meeting dominik's family. he starts gaining influence in politics just so he can improve dominik's life. and then he promises dominik that he won't let ravka break him.

that promise fucking haunts him. it follows him wherever he goes. it's the driving force behind everything he does, every step he takes to heal the centuries-old wounds in ravka. it's what drives him to do better, be better.

dominik is always there, in the back of his mind: this country gets you in the end. always pushing him to do more, because he couldn't save dominik and so he has to save ravka (for dominik) (because he promised) (because he loved him)
