01/07/24, 3:43 PM EST: At this time of day, I saw "the dress" as a white and gold dress that appeared to be in the "shade," (which to me gave the "white" part of the dress a "light bluish" tinge).

UPDATE 01/07/24, 4:50 PM EST: I had originally reblogged this post in the late afternoon. It is interesting that when I revisited this post later to add to it, it was in the early evening, so my blinds were closed and no more sunlight was coming in my window behind me to shine on my computer screen. Consequently, at first glance, the dress looked darker, with it almost being a very light blue (especially the photo on the Wikipedia link above), and a dark gold or mustard color. 🤔

It appears that some of the illusion might have been caused by "the dress" having been photographed with yellow-tinged lighting. According to Wikipedia:

Daniel Hardiman-McCartney of the College of Optometrists stated that the picture was ambiguous, suggesting that the illusion was caused by a strong yellow light shining onto the dress, and human perception of the colours of the dress and light source by comparing them with other colours and objects in the picture.[40] [...] The first large-scale scientific study on the dress was published in Current Biology three months after the image went viral. The study, which involved 1,400 respondents, found that 57 per cent saw the dress as blue and black, 30 per cent saw it as white and gold, 11 per cent saw it as blue and brown, and two per cent reported it as "other".[44] Women and older people disproportionately saw the dress as white and gold. The yellow-tinged light hypothesis might account for why the dress seemed to change colors for me slightly from the time I first saw it with sunlight hitting my computer screen through the window behind me, to when I revisited it in the evening, when my blinds were closed.

I'm also an older woman, so I fit in the demographics of those most likely to see the dress as white and gold. However, I'm not a particularly "early riser" (although I do have to get up early for work🤷🏻‍♀️).

Is it wrong that in some ways, I'm actually pretty fed up with the near constant amount of people whining about capitalism?

It isn't because I think they're wrong for disliking it and they're not wrong for being angry at the state of things, but rather that it's just an extension of their general learned helplessness and demands/expectations that someone else do the dirty work of getting rid of the evil billionaires while they sit around and whine and cry about things not happening fast enough?

Because that's what gets to me: That all they ever do is whine about the elite looking down on them as slaves and servants, all the while never lifting a finger themselves to even attempt to save themselves, either because "it's too scawwy to stand up against the billionaires", or because they keep on clinging onto the "Revolution" or for someone else to do the mass slaughtering to keep their own hands clean of blood as some kind of instant panacea that will fix everything. Or even more nastily implied, because they think it's beneath them to do the work because THEY might not get the benefits in their lifetimes.

At this point I'm frankly just "either put up and risk your own damned lives and livelihoods to do something about it, or shut up because you're just a poser and whiny little prick who will never do anything to even attempt to save yourself".

It's not wrong at all. All your points are correct. I'll also add that blaming everything on capitalism is a bit of a meme that, as often happens, devolved from being understood as a memey shorthand to being understood literally. Many of the things referenced in anti-capitalism rants are not exclusive and/or inherent to capitalism. Sometimes those posts include things that are not capitalism at all. Capitalism serves the same function as "the man," a vague, powerful enemy at which to direct your anger. Notably too vague to take any tangible action against. Honestly it kind of resembles the way the right talks about socialism/communism, which is possibly where some of these people picked it up; they simply inverted their Republican parents' arguments.

It's deeply frustrating because if you want to seriously criticize capitalism, you have to use the word correctly and understand what you're criticizing. It obfuscates the problem to throw the word around and that is counterproductive. Marx would certainly not approve lol.

Q. Let me start by saying I desperately want Buddie together but I have a growing suspicion that they're going to insinuate or outright show that they kissed at the bachelor party and that would taint them from go for me because putting them together through cheating, especially on a character the show established had turned into a really good guy, is so unnecessary and disgusting and ruins them right off the bat.

A. I wasn't going to reply to this ask but I have several similar asks currently sitting in my inbox so I'm going to respond even though this person is clearly a tommy trying to pretend to be a Buddie. How are you all still so bad at all of this nearly a year on? Your ask is a completely disingenuous take. If having them kiss at the bachelor party ruins them from the start for you then you don't 'desperately' want them together. You don't want them together at all and I don't know why you feel the need to pretend that you do. When the bachelor party takes place Buck and Tommy had been on ONE very bad date. Yes, they had a conversation where Buck said he wanted to try again but they were not a couple. You can't cheat on someone you've had one date with. Furthermore the show definitely didn't establish that Tommy had become some stand up remarkable human being, that is laughable. He was a sexist racist when they needed him the first time around for Chim and Hen, and he was a gay man the second time around when they needed someone for the coming out storyline. That's it. The show didn't care to establish anything else about him. The fact he left Buck standing on a curb after he understandably panicked a bit during their first date and then told Buck Abby went crazy when he dumped her pretty much illustrates though that he wasn't a great guy.

Forcing real life moral codes onto fictional characters is always a recipe for pain though. You can't do that. The very nature of the media they exist in doesn't allow for real life moral rules to always be followed. Real life people don't always do the right thing. Expecting fictional character to do so is ridiculous. Drama comes from their mistakes so television shows will always have them screw up and make bad decisions every now and again. I don't want them to have kissed at the bachelor party because I don't want their first kiss to be a flashback, but I won't be terribly bothered if that is the route they take because it's not that big of a leap to make. They made a point of making both of them drunk, Oliver mentioned in an interview while talking about filming the karaoke scene that everyone needs a little liquid courage now and then. They made a point of releasing the deleted scene with Eddie telling Chris about how he met Shannon and what he liked so much about her when they first met. The show then intentionally had the bachelor party mirror that story with Buck talking all night long and showing how close and intertwined they both were all night long. The karaoke song even fit the callback of that story from Eddie. We also cannot ignore the fact that Eddie basically blew up his life following the bachelor party so going back and showing that something did indeed happen between the two of them that night would not be some astronomical story leap. I have said from the beginning they filmed way too much content and spent way too much money for those scenes to just never come up again or be shown. I don't think we're getting the actual karaoke scene but I do think we might get some of the other scenes in a flashback of some kind but we don't know that for sure. That New Year's Day post was definitely an intentional choice and it was certainly an interesting choice, but it doesn't necessarily indicate anything bachelor party related is coming. It could just be one more thing to add to the growing belief that Buddie is very much coming though.

Lastly, even if Buck and tommy had been in a full blown years long relationship and the show had Buck and Eddie get together by cheating on him I still wouldn't care or be angry. They could murder him, chop him up and dispose of the body and I would call it the most romantic thing ever. I genuinely don't care about him at all. Hope this helps ☺️

Listen, I grew up on soap operas where everyone cheated on everyone.😋 It never bothered me. In fact, it brought some extra tension and I love that in a show. So I don't really care one way or the other.

But also, Tommy wasn't his boyfriend at that time. They were trying things out and so far Tommy had proven himself to be a bit of an ass. So no, if we find out that Buck and Eddie kissed or made out during that bachelor's party? I will cheer.🙌🙌🙌

I've been here since te beginning. They need to get this show on the road and if this is the way they have chosen to go? I'm fine with it.

Some Highschool Montana AU let's go (called Legacy AU or L!*rest of words* for short}

Her and Justin went to the same highschool as the soul riders (and like half the other npcs) in jarleheim

Since L!Montana never moved away from Jorvik or had to semi regularly change schools she was actually able to make some friends. Not much, since she's naturally more of a loner, but there are like 2 or 3

Those friends consist of Justin, Maya and Loretta

Loretta still developed a crush on Justin but not nearly as huge as in the og timeline, this is because literally everyone and their mothers but them could see that dewblossom had a crush on each other since their were 12

There was a period of time where L!Montana was scared that Justin would replace or forget her, since he was more popular than her and, unlike her, didn't struggle with making new friends during their teenage years. Justin was so confused by this because Montana was not just a school friend but his best friend and didn't even realize that she was feeling that way until she noticeably spend less time with him and they had an argument abt it

What lead to the argument was him realizing Montana had spend less and less time with him the past few months and was hanging out with another guy instead. This was also what made Justin realize that he actually had a crush on her because in all his life he had never hated someone so much as that guy and he hadn't even met the poor boy in person. They were abt 16 there

Montana didn't realize how she felt until years later when Justin went with Sabine to the Oil Rig and felt so betrayed and hurt that he'd leave despite her protests

Funfact in this AU Montana, and the others succeeded in rescuing Justin the first time because Katjas mind control wasn't enough to surpress years of friendship and not talked abt crush feelings

In the AU Montana was actually the one who suggested maya start working at moorland stables

Having friends during her teenager years also means she never developed such a big fear of losing people or being afraid of getting close to them to begin with

Moving on to magic stuff, where main Montana is already strong L!Montana is on an whole other level. Discovering her powers earlier meant she had a lot more time to train and develop her skills than main Montana and girl used that time well. If L!Montana and main Montana would fight against each other, same age and no magic corruption, L!Montana would win by a mile

She didn't started doing martial arts until after finding out abt her feelings but her magic control is much better

L!Montana never got a motorcycle license since horses are can get you almost everywhere in Jorvik (she still has a car license to be able to go to Jorvik City easier)

yeah, underfell used to be my favorite! i think it was smth about being really edgy as a kid, or maybe it was because red was my favorite color. idk man, even now i gotta admit those designs slap really hard.

Made a set of mini runes with polymer clay. I might paint them later. I didn’t have molds or stamps so I ended up cutting out the shape with a little clay cutter (like a cookie cutter but smaller) and then writing all the runes by hand. I rounded them out a bit too because I liked how it looked when I altered the shape a little.

I’ve only been using polymer clay for two weeks so this could have probably gone faster if I was more experienced. I think I left my glass set at my parents house when I moved and i still need to find it. But I saw it as an opportunity to practice working with clay! Well, polymer clay. I miss real clay 🥲

Yadda yadda yadda jinx is generally seen as a loose canon, does whatever she wants type of character, totally unpredictable. When in actuality, up until the last few episodes all of her choices and actions r motivated by wanting to please someone else. Hell. Even in the last couple episodes, the very Last thing we see her doing is ENTIRELY MOTIVATED by devotion and love and grief for silco, she’s taking out her frustration at herself and the world, and also honoring his wishes and dreams. By shooting a fucking bomb at piltover, she’s ensuring his life wasn’t in vain, she’s honoring him. In that moment

Her entire, self!!! is centered around love and loyalty. Is centered around other people, She’s motivated by an insatiable urge to prove herself, to be useful to those she loves, to show that she can help them and be there for them and be WORTHY of there love. That they haven’t made a mistake in loving her. To prove that she can be as pivotal to them as they r for her. She goes to the ends of the fucking earth to do this. And it ends. Terribly.

She puts the people she loves on pedestals and supplicates at there feet, she has no motivations most of the show outside of making the people she loves happy… she yearns for connection and love and safety. For a home that will never leave her behind, or crumble under her feet, (an indestructible home, That she can’t destroy just by being her…)

Which is why.. it’s so. Interesting and intriguing. How now, she has no one on that pedestal to worship, no one to drag sacrifices and offerings to the feet of, no one to spiral around and build herself off of. She is a person so *affected* by her relationships w others, but there is no relationship now, no one is stepping up to the plate to love her. She’s too much. For anyone. The one person who seemed to have unlimited patience for her is dead, because of her. and maybe vi could still love her.. but. She’s already soured that relationship. Already broken that one too.
