"Witches and Other Night Fears" fue el 1erdisco que H.I.M. [His Infernal Majesty] grabó. Se trata de una demo realizada en 1992, y por una razón desconocida, se decidió no sacarla a la luz. Ville Valo posee la única copia conocida.

En 1995, año en que se consideraría realmente el inicio de la banda, la formación constaba de Valo como vocalista, Linde en la guitarra, Migé Amour en el bajo, Antto Melasniemi en el teclado y Pätkä en la batería. En este año, se lanzó This Is Only the Beginning, en Finlandia, en un principio la banda se llamó "His Infernal Majesty", aunque acortaron su nombre por el actual, HIM, debido a que se asociaban con rituales satánicos.

666 Ways to Love: Prologue fue lanzado en 1996, únicamente en Finlandia, y solo se vendieron 1000 copias de este álbum. La mujer de la portada se dice que es la madre de Valo. Fue producido por Hiili Hiilesmaa, y fue grabado en Finnvox, MD and Peacemakers, Helsinki.

La banda lanzó su primer álbum de estudio, Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666, el 20 de noviembre de 1997. Cuenta con la versión de Chris Isaak, "Wicked Game" y de Blue Öyster Cult, "(Don´t Fear) the Reape

Ville and Mikko Paananen told "Kommersant" about the upcoming tour

One of the most popular bands in Finland, love-metallers HIM, whose lead singer Ville Valo - until now a role model melancholy-minded rockers, made in Riga at the festival "Cubana". Frontman Ville Valo and bassist Mikko Paananen told to Elena Kravtsun  about his upcoming tour with The Rasmus.

- I know that in October in St. Petersburg and Moscow you will give joint concerts with other popular band in our country, the Finns, The Rasmus. I remember that in Russia in 2006, you have already organized a joint tour with them. Why did you decide to do it again?

Ville Valo: Yes, almost ten years ago, we already had a tour with The Rasmus. We pretty well know each other. Musically we converge well, we sound good together, because they are not as gloomy, more pop or something. While we are about the rock after all. Therefore, we do not compete in terms of music. We think that for students it is also interesting. Damn, it was now a boring answer!

Mikko Paananen: No, today was a real answer! (laughter) Just because they're great guys.

- Do you want to repeat the success of the tour? Do you think that alone can not cope well?

Ville Valo: Again, it's not a competition, it's just really cool to be able to go on tour with friends. Firstly, the road is not so lonely. Secondly, we have not seen each other for a long time. They are going about their business, and we are his. Therefore, it will be very cool, sorry for the banal expression: Hit the Road and share experiences.

- All fans are wondering when will HIM will perform new songs?

Ville Valo: We have a great attitude. But, unfortunately, this year we did not grow together with our drummer. We have lost as much as a permanent drummer since 1999, Gas. And it took us a while to "regroup". Therefore, we are now on tour with our new drummer and looking so to speak communication, the "chemistry". We hope that soon we will be back in the studio, and that in 2016 we will already have new material. We are always in search of new adventures, meeting new people. It is very important not to stand still.

- You all are also going on singing in English. Don't you pull yourselves back to the roots?

Mikko Paananen: For us it is natural to sing songs in English. We grew up listening to Soundgarden, Janes Addiction, Black Sabbath. All of our favorite albums were in English. We always wanted to be a part of this dream.

- How do you think the style of music in which you work, is still relevant in today's scene?

Ville Valo: Fashion changes every year, comes and goes. There are always new genres and new styles. But in general, rock - it's always a positive phenomenon. This is a contrast against the world of pop music. Rock - a light in the darkness. The eternal battle.
