When the almost unbelievably pretty foreign transfer student makes an entrance on her first day in 1A, Izuku’s stomach was set afire by the downy wings of butterflies running amok inside him.  But when you turn around to write your name on the board at Aizawa’s behest, Izuku can’t help himself when his eyes start to wonder across the shape of you—when you turn back around, Midoriya is almost hypnotised by your pretty eyes and charmingly kind smile, and those butterflies quickly turn into extra blood that sit heavy in his balls.
Midoriya isn’t able to get up to join his friends at the lunch table that day.
He thought he already had it bad before, but discovered new parts of himself after your arrival.
Izuku who desperately tries to eavesdrop on conversations you have with the many people who hurry to try to introduce themselves to you, totally not in an effort to overhear you giving out your instagram handle.  And Izuku definitely didn’t blow through an entire box of tissues in the one night alone.  And of course he wasn’t dying of shame while having a conversation with his mother on the phone about the sudden wave of bulk pack tissue box purchases on their Amazon account.  It’s totally just a cold he caught.
He almost feels a little pathetic at the fact that there are only sweet and appropriate photos on your social media pages, but that’s more than enough for him—for a short while.  The more time he spent around you in class, the more he craved you.  He eventually found himself on some very specific porn sites in an effort to find an actress that even remotely resembled you.  That seemed to make the issue worse, as he then started to have some very vivid dreams of you with little left to the imagination, thanks to his helpful visual aids.
He tells his friends that he’s just been adding in extra workouts in the morning when they ask why he does his laundry so frequently these days.
And when the two of you become partners for a training course one day, Midoriya is enthralled by your personality and your quirk.  He immediately starts analysing it all, but quickly needs to run to the onsite restroom when he starts trying to estimate the size of your tits. In the small port-a-potty, he imagines himself taking the measurements with his palms.  Once he finishes and takes a moment to breathe, he cringes as he thinks in retrospect of himself from a few moments earlier:  Izuku had one hand held in the air, palming around nothing, as he fucked into the other one. This time he really thinks himself pathetic.
When you become closer as friends, beginning to spend time casually together in each other’s bedrooms, he smiles innocently in your face, while a stolen pair of panties sit snug in his pocket.  He also pretends to be deeply invested in his economics textbook when he overhears you complaining about constantly needing to go underwear shopping a few months later.
Eventually, you fall for his boyish charms, and the two of you begin to spend time together as a couple.  And in the most unsmooth way possible, he acts shocked and pretends to know nothing when you find a familiar long lost pair of pink panties hidden amongst his things.

[Izuku Midoriya x Female!Reader]
Synopsis: Your best friend leaving the hero course was enough to make you lose your mind. Especially when he’s suddenly standing across from you with nothing but a tired smile.
WC: 2978
Category: Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Vigilante!Deku
Please give this one extra love!! Somehow Midoriya is also very suspiciously difficult to write 👀 (Also, that 3rd-degree burn I gave my hand today is making me want to cry and throw myself in a river. Damn you, AO3 curse!! )
『••✎••』
Seeing that letter taped on your door broke you in more ways than one.
He had been gone for almost a week, but his note left behind made you realize just how long it'd been. How long he had left you with nothing more than a simple explanation of his departure and how it felt like he was never coming back.
The entire class had been on edge ever since. The note even threw Bakugo for a loop, as much as he would deny it. It had everyone wondering where he was and if he was okay.
It hurt you the most, though. He was the closest friend you had and the only one who truly understood your feelings.
But now he was gone.
Aizawa still continued teaching, but with Midoriya absent, the class just couldn't focus. He wasn't as good at making things seem less depressing or stressful, and his lectures were just boring without a green bush to lighten the mood. Or at least, you thought so.
You haven't been paying much attention lately, and you're too busy thinking of your missing friend. Your grades had been slipping, but it wasn't like anyone could blame you. Even if your friends could, they didn't say anything.
They had tried talking to you, but all you could do was give them a half-hearted smile, shake your head, and tell them, "I'm fine."
You weren't fine, and you knew that. But what were you supposed to do? Cry about it? It’s not like he’d come back if you did that.
Ironically, he did technically come back.
That day, Aizawa decided to keep the pain everyone felt about Midoriya buried beneath the surface, so he assigned you all a ten-page essay about the history of quirks.
So, here you were, writing a half-assed essay close to two in the morning. Kaminari was blowing up the group chat with memes and random jokes, but no one seemed to care or even respond.
Well, that was until Bakugo started yelling at him to stop texting because he was trying to sleep.
That went on for about a solid ten minutes, with everyone getting annoyed at the two idiots, but eventually, it died down.
You took a glance at the clock, which now read 2:12 a.m.
Sleep just couldn't come to you. Not now, not when your brain was filled with thoughts of the broccoli boi.
Then, there was a tiny patter against your window, almost like a knock. If it hadn’t been so quiet, you might not have heard it.
You ignored it at first, of course, but it continued, the knocks getting louder and more urgent.
Finally, you stood from your chair, deciding to investigate, but then, the knocking stopped.
You paused, confused, but shrugged, figuring you must have been hearing things.
Yeah, right, because hearing knocks on your dorm window at 2 a.m. is normal.
It turned out to be a good thing you got up because when you turned back around, a figure was directly behind you.
You jumped back in fear, letting out a short shriek before slapping your hands over your mouth. The side eye glance to your window, now open and curtain rustling in the slight wind, had you regretting not locking the damn thing.
The figure let out a small chuckle, his shoulders shaking a bit, and your heart rate sped up.
You could see the person a lot better now that they weren't in the shadows, but the moonlight still kept their face hidden.
All you could see was the curly mess of green hair and a large hoodie with a black mask pulled over the bottom half of their face.
But you didn’t have to see his eyes to know exactly who it was.
Your hands fell limply to your sides as the boy stepped closer. His hand reached the hood of his suit, slowly pulling it off, and his bright, emerald green eyes were staring straight into yours.
The only thing you could do was stare, dumbfounded.
"You did lock it, by the way," the boy's voice said. It sounded hoarse and scratchy as if he hadn't spoken in days. He probably hadn't.
Still, his intuition never failed.
You continued to stare, eyes wide and unblinking.
Midoriya's brow furrowed, a look of worry replacing his smile.
"They really should put more difficult locks on these things. I mean, honestly, all I had to do was twist it, and it opened. If I were a villain, then— hmph!"
Your arms wrapped around his neck tightly, cutting him off. His eyes widened, surprised, but eventually, he relaxed, wrapping his own arms around your waist and pulling you closer.
"I was so worried," you said. You could feel your body starting to tremble, tears pricking your eyes. "Everyone was."
His arms tightened, his chin resting on your shoulder.
"I know. I'm sorry," he whispered, his breath tickling your ear. "I couldn't think of any other way."
You leaned back a bit enough to look him in the eyes. His tired, determined eyes.
"Wait, if you’re here… does that mean...?"
"I need my notebook." He kept his frown, and a sigh escaped his lips. "You have my old notes, right? I need those."
Oh.
That was it.
That was why he was back.
"Oh," You failed to hide the disappointment in your tone. "Right, uh, hold on…"
You pulled away, your eyes looking away from his. You could feel his eyes burning into the back of your head as you walked over to the desk, rummaging through the drawer.
Speaking of, your desk was an absolute disaster. If allowing students in your dorm room wasn't against the rules, Iida would have broken down your door a long time ago, screaming at the top of his lungs about how your room was in utter chaos.
Eventually, you found it. It was covered in sticky notes, and some of the pages were folded. Makes sense, considering the fact that you'd spent the last week reading it, studying, and hoping to find some kind of clue about his whereabouts and the league itself.
But even if it was in your hands, screaming for its owner, you hesitated. He was going to leave again, wasn't he? He wasn't going to stay.
But common sense hit you. You couldn’t force him to stay. It would be selfish of you to even ask.
You turned, walking back over to him. He was staring intently at the ground, his eyes narrowed in concentration, and he had a small frown on his face.
When you were a couple of feet away, he finally looked up, his hand reaching out for the book.
"Here," you said, trying not to let the sadness seep into your words. "Don’t mind the added stickies. Simpler terms, easier to understand, you know?"
"Right, thanks," he murmured, his eyes darting over the cover before flipping through the pages. His brows were scrunched together, and his fingers fiddled with the pages, flipping through them with a practiced speed.
He was so concentrated on the notebook that he didn't see your frown, and he didn't see the sadness in your eyes.
But then, he froze.
His eyes scanned over one of the pages, his fingers tightening around the spine of the book, and his breath hitched.
His eyes flickered up to yours, and his lips were set in a tight line.
"You read this?"
"Huh?" You blinked, taken aback. "Was I… not supposed to read it all?"
"What? No, no, I meant this page."
He flipped the book around, opening it to a certain page, and held it up for you to see.
Oh, yeah, his page. The one where he wrote about himself. Which, proudly, you knew most of what was written in it, anyway. Some things caught you off guard, but not many.
"Oh, yeah, I skimmed over it," you admitted.
"And... how much did you skim over?"
"Um... all of it? I mean, I'm in your hero notes, too. I took a lot more of my time on the page dedicated to me, I have to admit, but uh… What's the big deal?"
Midoriya looked at you, and his gaze was intense. "Did you… miss me that much that you would study my hero notes that closely?"
"Well, I wouldn’t say closely—"
He tilted his head in an almost sarcastic manner, and his eyes narrowed as he leaned over to point at a section in his notes.
A bright pink sticky note, covered in stars, was stuck onto the paper.
It was a small part, a very short paragraph, and you had given your analysis of him and not of his quirk either. It was a list of his attributes, his personality, and the type of hero he was.
To someone else, it would be pretty informative about what kind of person he was and what kind of hero he would be, but you both knew the true meaning behind the note.
Because it was all the things you missed about him.
"… oh, " was all you could say.
The air around you two suddenly became awkward, the silence becoming heavy.
The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
But, as expected, Midoriya broke the silence.
"I figured since you’re still awake, it must mean that you're working on homework or studying, and you wouldn’t do that at night if I weren’t gone," he began. "I thought that maybe it would be too soon to come back, or even that I should have stayed away, but, well, I really needed my notes, and, honestly, I wanted to see you, and—!"
He was rambling again. You could practically see the gears turning in his head, his brain spitting out more words than his mouth could.
At least he was still himself, you thought.
You decided to cut him off, placing your hand on his arm, and he jolted at the sudden contact, his head snapping back up to yours.
"I’m sorry," you said, looking down.
He looked confused, tilting his head. "What for? You have nothing to be sorry for; you didn't do anything wrong."
"No, I—" You cut yourself off, biting your lip, and looked away. You took a deep breath before speaking.
"I'm sorry," you started. "For not stopping you. For not coming with you. For not helping you. I had no idea what you were going through, and I was too worried about myself, and I didn't—"
"Hey, hey, stop," Midoriya said, placing his hand on your shoulder. You hadn't realized you were shaking. "This is my fight, okay? It's not yours, and I was the one who didn’t want to bring anyone else into this mess. This isn’t your fault, so please don’t beat yourself up about it."
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do." You looked back up at him, tears blurring your vision. "I don’t know how to help."
He was silent for a moment, but then, he pulled you closer, wrapping his arms around you once again, and you buried your head in his chest, gripping the fabric of his hoodie.
"It's okay," he said. "I don’t expect you to know how to help, and I didn’t come here for your help. Well, technically, I did since you had my notebook, but I’m speaking on a—"
“I know, I know," you mumbled.
Another moment of silence, and then, he sighed, a puff of air brushing your ear.
"I'm not sure when I'll be back, if I ever will, but I promise," he whispered, his breath tickling your ear and his words making your heart skip a beat. "I promise we will be fine. We all will. Me, you, everyone else. It might take a while, but we will be okay."
You nodded, your grip on his hoodie tightening. This was the sound of a goodbye, and the finality of it terrified you.
"It’s just…" you mumbled, and his brow furrowed.
"Just what?"
You hesitated, a lump forming in your throat.
"What?" He repeated, pulling back to look you in the eye. "Please tell me."
You took a deep breath, swallowed the lump, and looked him in the eye.
"It's just that... You’re my not-alone buddy, remember?”
Midoriya froze, his eyes widening.
It was a little game you two had back when things weren’t so complicated. Back when you were just normal students.
You both struggled to make friends, so you made a pact. Obviously, that thought disbanded when everyone else got close, and now you all were pretty good friends, but the friendship between him and you was different. It was a bond between you two that was just special.
Not even ‘Kacchan’ could ruin that, as close as he and Midoriya grew.
You never called him Deku, even after Bakugo and the rest of the class started calling him by the nickname. Sure, it was his hero name, and you could call him that, but you just never felt comfortable.
Todoroki didn’t either, but then again, Todoroki didn't call anyone by their nicknames.
But, back to the point.
"We made a pact, and... that was one of the things I wrote on the sticky notes." You gestured to the book. "It was during my angry denial phase, so I’m not that proud of it, but… it was still true."
"You were angry?" He asked, confused. "Why?"
"Well, first of all, I was worried sick. I knew you were going to go do something stupid, and obviously, I was right.”
He winced at that.
"But I was angry because you didn’t trust me, and I felt like you were leaving me, too," you said, biting your lip. "I know that sounds stupid and selfish, and I get that this was your battle, not mine, and I can't change that, but... I guess I was just scared. You didn’t even tell me before you left, and the note was just..."
You trailed off, a lump forming in your throat again, and your eyes burned with tears.
You didn't want to cry in front of him, so you buried your face in his chest again, and his grip tightened around you.
"I'm sorry," he apologized.
You shook your head. "Don’t apologize. It's not like you're changing your mind."
He was quiet for a moment, his head lowering and his lips resting on your forehead.
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
Your breath hitched. "Izuku, please don't say it."
He pulled back, and his face was unreadable. He looked determined, his eyes burning with passion, and it hurt. It hurt to know that, despite everything, he still had his mind made up.
"I have to go," he said, and his voice was quiet. "I don’t want to leave you alone. I really don’t, but I have to, and you need to stay safe. Me being here isn't doing anything good, and I can't keep coming back and putting you in danger. So, for now, at least until the Shigaraki is dealt with, please just be safe. Don’t try and find me, and please don't let anyone else know I was here."
He paused, his eyes glancing towards the window.
"Actually, I might come back just to get rid of that lock. I mean, seriously, I barely even touched it, and it came right off. You could easily replace it with something stronger, maybe one of those new locks that only respond to fingerprints! But, then it can be traced back to you, and they can use you to— oh, man, I'm rambling again, aren't I?"
You didn't bother to respond. Instead, you leaned up, pressing your lips against his cheek.
Midoriya's entire face went bright red, his mouth opening and closing like a fish.
You could feel your face burning, but it was worth it to see his reaction.
"Be careful," you said. "Please, Izu, don’t be stupid."
"R-Right."
He stumbled a bit, his hand coming up to touch the spot where your lips were. His eyes flickered back to you, and you swore you saw him blushing, but then he turned, heading towards the window.
"Oh, uhm, b-by the way," he said, reaching the window. He placed his hand on the frame, glancing back at you. "For Aizawa's essay, you have to also analyze the strengths and weaknesses, not just the evolution of quirks. Make sure to read the whole paragraph in that book he gave us at the beginning of the semester."
He gave you one last smile, pulling the mask over his mouth and the hood over his head. You looked in befuddlement as he stepped out onto the roof, and your hands were wrapped around the edges of the open window.
"How did you—"
"It's Aizawa," His mask was muffling his voice, so he lifted it up a bit, and his eyes twinkled. "What else do you expect from him?"
And then he jumped.
He let the mask drop back down and became just another shadow in the night, with his green lightning trailing behind him.
You didn’t have the energy to laugh, and you didn't have the heart.
You leaned against the windowsill, letting the cool night air wash over your face. You sighed, watching the clouds drift in the sky.
"You're still an idiot," you whispered, closing your eyes.
When the sun rises, this encounter will only be a distant memory.
But for now, the cold night was enough to convince you otherwise. For now, his green eyes were staring up at the same night sky, and he was thinking of you, too.
That kiss on the cheek, as tame as it was, was still enough to make his head spin. You were still his friend, his not-alone buddy, and nothing was going to change that.
And you both were okay with that.

I. She ate my heart, that girl is a monster <3 (1st August 2024)
Izuku Midoriya x Reader
Prompt! Everyone has their own deepest and darkest secret. But how long does Izuku intend to swallow himself whole for his heart racing for a villain.
second part here!
Class 1-A had just finished another intense training session, their bodies and minds exhausted from the day’s rigorous drills. The room was full with chatter as the students relaxed, but Izuku Midoriya was noticeably distant the past few weeks, his thoughts far from the lively conversations around him. He sat quietly, his gaze fixed on the floor, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of someone he could never quite escape.
Across town, in the midst of another chaotic skirmish, Y/N, a formidable member of the League of Villains, continued her relentless pursuit of her goals. Her quirk allowed her to manipulate shadows, a power she wielded with precision and deadly accuracy. The battles between her and the heroes were always intense, charged with a strange and undeniable chemistry that left both sides reeling.
Izuku’s encounters with Y/N were always fraught with tension. Each time they faced off, he felt an inexplicable draw toward her, despite the fact that she was his enemy. Her presence was both captivating and terrifying, her eyes gleaming with a dark intensity that made his heart race. It was clear to everyone that their battles went beyond mere hero versus villain; there was something more lurking beneath the surface. Something.. personal.
One evening, after another heated clash with the league of villains which included Y/N, Izuku found himself in the dorms, trying to unwind. He was alone in his room, pacing back and forth, his mind consumed by the memories of their recent confrontation. Y/N’s image was burned into his thoughts, her fierce gaze and powerful presence leaving him unsettled.
As he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling, Izuku tried to shake off his feelings. “Why does she keep invading my mind?” he muttered to himself. “She’s a villain. She’s... a monster.”
Despite his attempts to rationalize his feelings, he couldn’t ignore the truth: Y/N had become an obsession. Her dark beauty and strength were irresistible, and every encounter only deepened his confusion. His heart felt like it had been taken and twisted by her presence, leaving him both enthralled and tormented.
The next day, during a routine training session, Class 1-A discussed their recent battles. The conversation inevitably turned to the League of Villains, and Y/N’s name came up.
Kirishima, always enthusiastic, commented, “You know, that Y/N is something else. She’s got this really intense vibe, doesn’t she?”
Mina, who had witnessed some of the recent skirmishes, nodded. “Yeah, she’s definitely got a powerful quirk. But what’s with that dark aura she has? It’s like she’s got this whole other side to her.”
As the discussion continued, Izuku remained silent, his mind wandering back to their last encounter. His friends’ comments barely registered as he grappled with his own feelings. He knew he had to keep his emotions hidden; his infatuation with Y/N was a secret he could never reveal.
During lunch, as the students gathered in the common area, Y/N’s image still haunted Izuku. He tried to focus on his friends, but his thoughts kept drifting back to the villain who had somehow managed to capture his heart.
Suddenly, the conversation turned to a more personal topic, and the class began to share stories about their experiences with villains. The discussion was lively, but Izuku was lost in his own world. He couldn’t help but replay their encounters, each one a reminder of his feelings for someone he could never fully understand.
Later that evening, Izuku was alone, practicing his moves. The sound of footsteps behind him made him pause. He turned to see Y/N standing there, her dark eyes watching him with an inscrutable expression.
“Still training, Midoriya?” she asked, her voice a low, almost teasing purr.
Izuku’s heart skipped a beat. “Y/N,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady. “What are you doing here?” He stuttered with a fighting stance.
Y/N stepped closer, her presence almost palpable. “I’m here for a little chat. Seems like you’ve been thinking about me a lot lately.”
Izuku’s face flushed with embarrassment. “I... I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Y/N’s smile was enigmatic. “Oh, come on. You can’t fool me. I’ve seen the way you look at me, the way you fight. It’s almost like you’re fascinated.”
Izuku’s heart pounded in his chest. He wanted to deny it, but the truth was that Y/N had become an inescapable part of his life. The battles they fought were more than just clashes of power; they were encounters filled with an intensity that left him both captivated and tortured.
As Y/N turned to leave, she cast one last glance over her shoulder. “Don’t keep me waiting too long, Midoriya. I might get bored.”
Izuku watched her go, his heart aching with the knowledge of his unspoken feelings. He knew that his infatuation with Y/N was dangerous, a secret that could never be revealed. Yet, no matter how much he tried to fight it, he couldn’t deny the truth: Y/N was a monster who had taken hold of his heart, leaving him forever changed.
Back in his dorm room, Izuku lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling once more. The weight of his emotions felt like a heavy burden, a constant reminder of the forbidden feelings he harbored. Y/N was a villain, and he was a hero-in-training, their worlds forever at odds. But the truth remained: she was a monster who had claimed a piece of his heart, leaving him forever tormented by a love that could never be.
As he closed his eyes, he could still see Y/N’s dark eyes and hear her teasing voice. The battle between his heart and his duty continued, a struggle that would shape his future in ways he could never fully comprehend.
Oh god.. he’s in love with a monster.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𓂅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Midoriya Izuku x AFAB!Reader with a fawn Quirk
.....
Izuku’s dorm room was filled with the soft amber glow of his desk lamp, casting a cozy warmth over the walls covered in hero posters and personal memorabilia. You sat cross-legged on his bed, smiling softly as he animatedly flipped through his notes, pointing out drawings and theories with a passion that seemed to set his eyes alight.
“…so, I guess that’s what fascinates me so much about quirks that alter someone’s physical form. Like Tsuyu-chan! She’s developed abilities that make her adaptable to so many situations—on land, underwater, high places,” he gushed, eyes sparkling with admiration. He moved on to mention quirks like Mirko’s remarkable rabbit agility and speed, Hawks’ feathered wings with all their hidden abilities, and finally… he paused, looking over at you, hesitant but with a trace of wonder in his expression.
“…And yours. I just think it’s incredible how graceful you are. There’s something different about the way you move, how attuned you seem to your surroundings. It’s like…” He trailed off, almost bashful, rubbing the back of his neck as he fumbled for words. “It’s like you’re connected to something beyond what we can see. I don’t know, maybe it sounds strange, but I’d love to understand it better. If that’s okay?”
You blinked, heart swelling at his openness and curiosity. His enthusiasm for quirks always inspired you, but hearing him speak so intently about yours had a different effect. You leaned forward, smiling gently.
“Why don’t you explore it yourself?” you offered, the suggestion so natural that it slipped out before you could second-guess it. “It might help your research if you could… well, take a closer look.”
Izuku’s eyes widened, cheeks flooding with color. “W-Wait, really? You’d… let me? I mean, here? Now?”
You nodded, a calm reassurance in your expression. “Yes. I trust you, Izuku. Besides, if it’ll help with your analysis, I’m happy to assist.”
“Right. Right, of course! Purely for research,” he stammered, trying to steady his nerves. With a deep breath, he inched closer, his fingers hovering just above your shoulders, hesitating. “This is… okay?”
You offered him a soft nod, and, at last, he began to reach out, his touch light as a feather at first, as if afraid to disturb something precious. His fingertips traced along the faint contours of your collarbone, where your skin bore subtle markings unique to your quirk. He’d always found these hints of animalistic strength mesmerizing, even in his sketches and notes. Up close, he seemed even more awestruck.
“This is… incredible,” he murmured, voice hushed with reverence. His fingertips followed the delicate tracings of darker pigmentation on your shoulders and arms—markings reminiscent of the patterns found on young fawns, subtle but unmistakably present. “It’s like these patterns… they almost mirror actual fawn spots. I wonder if they have any evolutionary purpose, like camouflage? Have you ever noticed if they shift in different seasons or adapt to your surroundings?”
You chuckled, unable to hide your amusement. “Not that I’ve noticed. But I do have enhanced senses, so maybe it’s just as useful that way.” His fingers brushed over a slight ridge along your shoulder, evidence of a minor quirk-related adjustment beneath the skin, and you saw his gaze sharpen with fascination.
“Your shoulders,” he observed, his voice soft and analytical, “they’re slightly more developed, like there’s an extra layer of muscle. It’s so subtle, but… is that how you can leap as high as you do?”
You nodded, impressed by his insight. “Exactly. I don’t even realize it sometimes, but it’s there. Helps with balance and power.” You could feel his hands relax as he grew more absorbed, each touch more confident, his focus trained on understanding rather than hesitation.
For a moment, he was lost in his analysis, fingertips exploring the faint curve of your spine and the sinewy strength you carried. There was a purity to his admiration—his complete and genuine awe of your abilities—and it warmed you to see him immersed in discovering this side of you.
And then, he stilled, drawing his hands back with a shy laugh. “I, uh… sorry. I got a little carried away.”
You shook your head, still smiling. “I don’t mind. Actually, Izuku, would it be okay if I… looked at you, too?”
His face reddened immediately, and he seemed to shrink back, rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous reflex. “Uh… m-me? I mean… I… I don’t think there’s much to see.” He glanced down, his voice faltering. “It’s mostly just scars. Nothing like… like yours. I mean, there’s not much that’s…”
He trailed off, unable to bring himself to finish, and your heart softened. “Izuku,” you said gently, reaching out to take his hand, “these scars are part of you, too. They’re part of everything that makes you who you are. I’d like to see them, if you’d let me. I promise, I won’t judge. I just… want to understand more about you.”
He looked at you, and in his eyes, there was something so vulnerable, so open that it took your breath away. Slowly, he nodded, taking a shaky breath as he lifted his shirt, revealing the map of scars that crisscrossed his chest and torso—signs of battles and struggles, reminders of his journey.
Your hand hovered just above his skin, taking in the raw evidence of everything he’d been through. Carefully, you let your fingers rest over a thin, jagged scar running along his collarbone.
Izuku’s voice softened, almost as if he were telling you a secret. Maybe because, well, he was. “That one… it’s from the Hero Killer, Stain. When he attacked Iida in Hosu City, I… I knew I couldn’t just stand by. We were just supposed to be training, but I couldn’t let him hurt anyone else.”
You nodded, fingers tracing over the scar with gentle reverence. “You were so brave,” you whispered. He blushed, his eyes downcast but a small, almost bashful smile tugging at his lips.
“I didn’t feel brave,” he admitted, glancing up at you. “But in that moment, I just… I knew I had to act. I'm so glad Todoroki-kun came to help us.”
Your hand drifted to another mark, a deeper one just above his ribs, and he inhaled, recognizing the spot immediately. “That was from Overhaul,” he said, voice low. “When I… when I saved Eri. She was so scared. I remember feeling like I had to give everything I had, and then some.”
The memory hung between you both, heavy and sacred. You remembered that battle, the way he’d come back bruised and battered but with that quiet strength that had always set him apart. “Eri’s safe because of you, Izuku,” you murmured, a soft pride in your tone. “You’re a hero to her.”
He looked up, his green eyes softening as he watched you trace each mark with such care. “It wasn’t easy,” he admitted, “but seeing her smile afterward at the school festival… it was worth it.”
You moved lower, touching a scar on his side—a small one, but etched with a memory just as fierce. “This one?”
“That was… from Nine.” Izuku’s voice grew quiet, his gaze distant as he relived the memory. “On Nabu Island. Kacchan and I fought him together. He was so strong, but… I couldn’t let him hurt anyone. I couldn’t let anyone on the island suffer because of us.” He managed a small, shaky laugh. “Kacchan wouldn’t forgive me if I gave up anyway.”
The way he said it made you smile, knowing that even amid chaos and danger, his heart had been focused on protecting others. You took his hand, giving it a light squeeze. “You’re incredible, you know that?”
Izuku’s cheeks flushed as he scratched his neck, embarrassed. “I just… I did what I had to. What any hero would.”
But you shook your head. “No, Izuku. Not everyone would. That’s what makes you so special.”
You continued to explore each mark, reaching one on his upper arm next. He looked at it, a fond smile in his eyes. “This one… it’s from Kota. When we fought Muscular. I thought… I thought I might not make it, but he gave me a reason to fight, you know? He trusted me.” There was a warmth in his gaze, a memory he held dearly.
“He trusted you because he saw how strong you were,” you said, feeling the strength in his arm. “You’re someone people can rely on, Izuku. Kota, Eri… and me.”
He let out a small laugh, nervous but happy, eyes shining as he looked at you. “Thank you.”
You paused on a scar just below his ribs, softer than some of the others, almost hidden against his skin. He placed his hand over yours, looking down at it with a sad smile. “Flect Turn,” he said quietly. “It’s still… hard to think about that one. The way his quirk worked… it felt like I was being forced to face myself. To question everything I was trying to achieve.”
You met his gaze, voice steady. “But you didn’t back down.”
“No,” he said, his voice more certain this time. “I didn’t.”
For a moment, you just sat there, taking in the weight of his story, each scar a part of the journey that had shaped him. You ran your fingers over a few smaller ones, ones he didn’t mention, but you knew from the look in his eyes that each one had a tale to tell.
Finally, he looked up, the tension in his shoulders softened, the vulnerability you’d seen in his eyes replaced with a quiet confidence. “Thank you for… for wanting to know all of this,” he said, voice thick with emotion.
You took his hands, squeezing them gently. “Thank you for letting me in, Izuku. These scars—they’re not weaknesses. They’re your strength. Proof of every battle, every person you’ve helped, and every reason you’ve kept going.”
He looked at you, really looked at you, and in that moment, he felt seen, understood, in a way he never had before. His cheeks flushed again, but there was a warmth in his expression, one you knew he’d carry with him beyond this room, beyond these memories.
“Thank you,” he whispered again, and this time, you knew he meant it in a way only the two of you could understand.

Midoriya Headcanons
...
— Izuku is utterly fascinated by how graceful you are, often catching himself watching you move without realizing it. He’s taken by the way you seem to instinctively navigate through crowds and small spaces with ease, almost like you’re attuned to every small detail around you.
— His notebook is filled with little sketches of your quirk’s features, like the subtle fawn-like markings or unique muscle structure that helps with agility. He’s spent hours researching how animal traits like yours might benefit in hero work, adding little notes like, “Could be useful for enhanced evasion.”
— He’s always mindful about touching you, especially if he’s trying to understand your quirk’s physical differences. His fingers are soft and light, often tracing the markings on your skin with almost scientific reverence, as if he’s afraid to break something delicate.
—Izuku’s attentive enough to notice if your senses seem more heightened in certain seasons or environments. He’ll offer his jacket or scarf in the winter, thinking your quirk might make you more sensitive to cold, and will keep extra snacks on hand in case you need extra energy.
—On days when training has been intense, he’ll suggest taking you to quieter places, like an empty park or a spot on campus where you can unwind. He knows that your heightened senses might make crowded spaces overwhelming, so he loves giving you a peaceful place to recharge.
— IIzuku finds your presence calming in a way he can’t quite explain. When he’s stressed or overthinking, he’s drawn to you because your calm demeanor and gentle movements help him feel grounded, and he’s always grateful for that unspoken support.
— He’s curious about how your quirk can be applied in different scenarios, so you two spend time coming up with unique tactics for you in mock battles. You’ve even managed to startle Bakugou once by sneaking up quietly—Izuku was genuinely impressed because not everyone can just do that!
— Knowing how self-conscious he sometimes feels about his scars, you’ve started a quiet ritual of tracing them gently, assuring him that they’re a testament to his courage and resilience. It’s become one of his favorite gestures, even if he blushes each time you do it.
— Izuku takes notes on exercises that might help you develop your natural abilities even further. He’ll shyly suggest new routines designed specifically with your quirk in mind, encouraging you to experiment and improve in ways that feel uniquely suited to you.
— Some nights, after studying or training, you’ll sit together, sharing stories about your quirks and experiences. Izuku finds himself opening up about his insecurities and struggles, especially around those he’s saved, while you reassure him that he’s helped you feel seen and understood, too.

Honestly despite my feelings about how the last arc of MHA went down I really love Deku and his story.
I just feel like a lot of the time we get these protagonists whose whole philosophy is it doesn’t matter what you were born as everyone can achieve greatness. But then the series goes on and it turns out that actually it DOES matter because the protagonist has this really great lineage and these really great powers you can only have through birth they were actually born born, predestined if you will, to do this.
But MHA actually sticks to its guns. Midoriya wasn’t revealed to have some great connection to all might that the universe had put in place. He wasn’t defended from some great lineage that makes him uniquely suited to this. Hell All for one didn’t even turn out to be his father, there was no hidden powerful quirk he was always meant to have. He was just Midoriya Izuku a boy who was in the right place at the right time and simply decided to act while the world did nothing. And that’s what really made him a hero.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I believe him a bit more when he goes anybody can be a hero if you just decide to act
#also never stop crying baby I love taht about you#like I do understand that being given one for all an extremely powerful quirk is kind of a cop out#but still the quirk was passed down to him because of his own merits not becayse it was pre destined or because he was born to weird it#and honestly that’s more than we’ve got in a long time.#yes this is a little bit of a naruto call out cause I will never get over that complete 180 😭#and it does randomly drop that little tidbit of how it was good luck Midoriya was quirkless or the quirk would have killed him young#but honestly I don’t even know what to make of that besides……yay?#also yeah that’s pretty realistic sometimes disabilities make your more suited for somethings so yeah#this isn’t me implying that other protagonists didn’t work hard by the way I know they did two things can be true at once#bakugo proves that. like he is was born with an extremely powerful quirk but nobody can say he doesn’t work hard#it’s just a little tiring to see this underdog character suddenly get a backstory that’s like sike you actually needed to be born to do thi#one piece does this a little bit to be fair to them the story doesn’t really emphasize anyone can do it that way it has different themes#about what family means and it’s all about inherited will so I can give it a pass#but yeah I really appreciate mha for sticking to that gun even though it dropped the ball on a lot of things#like never fully addressing the quirkless people can be heroes too thing but that’s a topic for next time#throwing thoughts to the void#deku#mha#my hero academia#mha meta#mha analysis#midoriya izuku#izuku midoriya#one for all#mha deku#bhna#boku no hero acedamia

BNHA 430: This wasn’t very “My Hero Academia” of you I’ll be honest—
Okay, where do I begin? Uh. So the story reached its conclusion. Congratulations, and all the best to Horikoshi-san for telling the story he wanted to tell for ten years, loved the characters, the little world he created after the cancellation of his previous works, I will cherish it for the rest of my life.
... but in my opinion: the last seven chapters were so bad- I don't think I can see this ending as anything other than a contradiction of what we were shown. Like, I thought we'd get a twist, everyone would be fine, something would change. I'm wearing the clown shoes already.
So, I'm just gonna treat this as a normal chapter, and not a final one, because I'll be here for days if I open this can of worms, which, I will not lie, is very bad (I'll open it at some point, not now.) I'm posting this on the.. 6th? Because apparently there's an announcement in the 5th and I don't wanna spoil the fun.
So, uh, under the read more are my thoughts on the ending, be warned I'm very, very negative about it.
*sigh* Oh boi, how killing the League made this go from an "underwhelming" to a "tone-deaf" chapter- I mean. Jesus fuck, leaving things open-ended don't erase the fact they can't make a single appearence to prove me wrong. And if they were alive, the last five chapters (and eight years!) were a waste of emotions and keeping them hidden was a stupidly cruel move.
Funny, the narration is "people aren't equal but it's because of these differences that people find common ground to get along"- THE VILLAINS WERE KILLED OFF FOR BEING DIFFERENT BRO WHAT DO YOU MEAN- "if lending a hand and caring is being a hero then we all became the greatest heroes". Izuku, whatever you're drinking, I'm taking it and drinking it all by myself. You may have cared (which I can't even say for certain anymore). But Tenko died. On accident. Because you gave him OFA.
I liked the "Midoriya-Sensei" part. For 5 seconds. It's fitting, he loves learning stuff, he's good with kids... until you say "it's only because his embers are gone". Then why use it as a tease for seven chapters only to just get rid of them at the end? Is running to Ochako really the last we get to see him use it? Not even as a part-time hero? (not that it matters at the end-)
Ragdoll works with the WWP, Tsukuachi was head strategist in the final battle, Hawks is the (H)PSC president, Aizawa is Aizawa. Why wasn't Izuku hired at an agency? Intelligence was a huge part of his character, yet the moment he was fully Quirkless again, he had to leave? Men truly aren't created equal...
"Cursed power", "blessing", "special" — the only thing special about OFA was being haunted by a guy whose brother was insane enough to hunt it down for generations. A Quirk's a Quirk; having multiple people/powers in one body isn’t special, Tokoyami and Shoto exist. Izuku was supposed to make it special using it on his terms. But I guess "meant to save, not kill" was a lie, as eight out of ten people who had it died. Nine out of eleven, counting BNHA: HR. Tenko died because his body couldn't handle the Quirk, but I guess Izuku isn't gonna think about any of it? Katsuki was right, I guess. OFA is a curse.
Spinner wrote a book (not a comic, guess he took offense to Izuku. Fair, actually). Mr. Compress got a panel, but no real mention of the LoV? They broke the status quo for months (in-universe), and after all of that, nothing changes? Did Spinner know about Tenko, how he became Tomura? And the people who will read it and pull an MLA? TomurAFO had followers, now he's martyr a lá Re-Destro. I’m hoping Spinner didn’t commit suicide like Destro did.
Ochako’s expanding Quirk Counseling. Reform’s implied (it only said expansion), but Himiko still became what Curious wanted her to be: A cautionary tale. And I’m still asking how Ochako knows Himiko what went through, she only told Ochako she was hated because of her Quirk and how she loves. I wanna think she’s reforming it, but nothing else changed, why should I think she’s the exception? She might literally just think Himiko didn't get help, that's a cruel irony.
(At least she's seen as a hero on her rights… even if it took 429 chapters, messy writing, her face looking like rubber, and still being a girl recognized as a "caretaker", not a kickass hero).
Shoji's travelling through Japan to solve discrimination and got a prize for it. No foundations or mentions of Spinner being the main reason he did it, just "standing atop those who rose up eight years ago", just solving it peacefully, you sure are, buddy. Like, I'm sure you are being successful but how exactly are you solving this? I mean, you "solved" the hospital fight by fighting Spinner with Koda- Oh wait, time constraints, we can't elaborate how. I'm rolling my eyes
Shirakumo showed the noumu state could've been reversed, yet Katsuki, who never killed someone aside from AFO (and that guy was gonna die anyway), fatally exploded him. I hoped it was a misunderstood panel but no. He died because he wanted to save Tenko. Even fucking Gran Torino was alive by the end of this. Why.
I think Shoto is the only main character I’m not really having a problem with (Ochako's ending required Himiko for it to feel somewhat complete. Sorry, Ochako). I’m weirded out that they mentioned the billboard using the guy whose life was ruined by it as an example, but other than that, he’s doing fine. Wish we saw him talking to his siblings though. But alas. No mention of Fuyumi and Natsuo. And Rei's with Endeavor. Fuck I take it back Todofam still deserved better.
Inko got so sidelined when Mitsuki and Masaru were in 424 for half a chapter, by the way. Just one panel for her, the protagonist's mother.
Schedules not aligning is one thing (I get it, my friends and I can't align ours anymore), but Class A not opening an agency together? They survived the same two wars. And you're telling me they wouldn't say "WE'RE WORKING TOGETHER AND TAKING MIDORIYA WITH US"? Also, where’s the "world where heroes have time to spare" when they look so busy? Were they understaffed or working as celebrities? (if someone says it was for the suit I will point out to the three nepo babies of Class A + Momo's Quirk, Katsuki’s a dumbass if he forgot that detail).
We wasted pages on a kid that can throw plates from his hair. To tell him he can be a hero. Coming from the guy who had to stop working as a hero when he lost OFA. I'm not taking this parallel seriously.
I wish Izuku wasn't in "everything’s fine" mode until the end. We're really gonna leave him at "implied" mode, not confirm if his mental state's fine? Being open and emotional was an appealing part of him and now we just get “Yeah that’s just how it is”.
This one's petty and irrational, I know, but since I'm letting some of the steam out: I hate Izuku's new design; face scars (the constant "HE FAILED" reminder makes my eye twitch and I wish that was a joke, but also so many characters in BNHA got face scars, it doesn't even stand out), "perfect tie", normal formal attire- where's the character highlights? The things that make Izuku stand out?
But hey: He gets to be a hero again! Not with skills, heart, intelligence, strength, in spite of Quirklessness. No, he has an Iron Man suit! That Class A paid billions for. The government should be paying the child soldiers- sorry, Class A and B (and Shiketsu and Ketsubutsu) instead, but all they get is a pat on the back. If the suit breaks down, hurts or kills him while in it? I'll laugh (Hatsume and Melissa worked on it? Oh it's gonna happen, I'm hoping). And Toshinori, what happened to him, did he hit his head when he landed on that building!?
Went from: Smiles cover his fear and reassure people, believed saving is about saving body and soul, wanted to help Tenko, only didn't because Gran Torino said it wasn't a good idea. Disliked people were being heroes for fame and not because it's the right thing to do, only used support items as reinforcement and a precaution, never as a full solution, even Iron Might was so he’d have a chance to fight, not a solution.
To: If Tenko died smiling, it wasn't resignation, he was saved, even though he died. Didn't care AFO killed the Shimura - his mentor's - bloodline. Is fine with the billboards existing, even though it caused things like the Todoroki plotline. Now he's giving Izuku a suit, when the last time he did it himself, it didn't save him and his spine was almost snapped? Dude, what?
Also full disclosure, I thought he was paralyzed, but I guess he just had a bad back. Let's not discuss the trauma of almost being snapped in half and feeling your bones break so bad you set a record of how many screws were used, I guess.
... I hated BKDK's conclusion. It's actually so laughable how much I hate it. If it had another outcome, I'd probably be overjoyed as a shipper. But look at this mess:
Thematically, Tenko wasn't rescued, it wasn't a perfect victory because AFO still got away with what he did to him. Save to win, win to save were just nice words. "The End of an Era and The Beginning"? Nothing changed in the world they live in, and they don't stand out among other heroes (these are AM’s successors. And they aren't even important. How.) What new era is this, really?
Their resolutions, relationship rebuild? Offscreen, but Katsuki was the one with the Iron Man suit idea for Izuku and apparently that compensates for it. Because he’s the one who can solve all of Izuku’s problems now, not motivate him to be better anymore. It wasn’t even Izuku’s idea, it was Class A, and sure it’s a nice (condescending) gesture. We’ve seen Toshinori barely come out alive even with one. That's a support item for a reckless little shit who will get himself killed.
Izuku barely batted an eye to any of the things he went through - losing his arms and/or OFA? Seeing Spinner's breakdown? Lady Nagant!? Katsuki or Tenko dying because of Izuku and OFA!? SOME INTROSPECTION?! IT’S BEEN OVER 100 CHAPTERS SINCE YOU’VE BEEN THE EMOTIONAL MC—
Katsuki's insecurities were pointless by the way! Izuku's empathy and heart never mattered, a Quirk was more important to be a hero in the end. BULLIED HIM FOR NOTHING BUDDY- like. Shouldn't have done it at all, but now his character development means nothing because his previous beliefs were the right ones. Changing for the better was pointless. Like Twice's death. Or Katsuki’s own death, since “Control Your Heart” meant nothing as well.
Izuku still remembers Tenko, but has he done anything about it? No one wants to remember him, Himiko or Touya. Spinner's book won't be taken seriously except for Tenko's followers, Mr. Compress was sidelined, Twice's death was pointless. They didn't change society, they've returned to the status quo. Pointless as Izuku losing his arms.
That fucking suit- Wow, he really couldn't be a Quirkless hero, the casual rivalry was just erased for an easy way out of their consequences, there's no catching up because Katsuki paid for Izuku a way to be a hero. Izuku doesn't get there because he still believes Quirks make a hero. This isn't heartwarming or romantic or whatever, Katsuki just proved he also didn't believe Izuku in the end.
And it ends with Izuku seeing Tenko's... Ghost? Hallucination? Vestige? I guess we’ll never know, because Izuku’s following his dreams again! Let's ignore he's doing this during class hours and he definitely should be in UA but who cares, he probably quit, we'll never know. Aside for the BKDK/DKBK fics, being a teacher was clearly a inferior choice for him and he can't do both ignore Aizawa and Present Mic look at him being the world's greatest hero!
It just took 1 year of trauma, scars, following on his mentor's mistakes, losing the thing that "actually" made him be a hero, having the first (Katsuki) and the last (Tenko) people he tried to save dying because of his existence (one literally by his hands), proving anyone can be one! By ignoring the guilt of those you failed, give hands and sparing your thoughts, having superpowers and/or connections who'll give you a suit! And if they still "act out"? Then they deserved death no matter the valid points they've had and you gotta play jury judge executioner. Unless they decide to be quiet like a good entitled citizen.
Fuck this shit I swear- You could’ve had a BKDK proposal with a double spread handhold, and I'd still think Izuku's ending isn't earned. His "happy ending"— actually. BKDK crumbs are the fandom's consolation prize for this ending. I feel cheated out my OTP (like. I'm shipping the version of them in my head, not the canon one 412-onwards because it got worse from there-)
A story about hope bent itself over to give the protagonist an unearned happy ending, when it said it was for every character who wants to connect to that hope, who wants to give that hope. Izuku went from "wanting to be a beacon of hope and save people" to "talk about beacons of hope, but in the end, others are doing this better than you. You had none of the willpower to be one." He's not hope or unity. Act 3!Izuku is just a plot device, I feel nothing for his ending other than irritation, and I hate it because he was my favourite character. Lol, a very useless one in the end.
So. Yeah, those are my thoughts about the ending. I think. I don't know if these are all of them. I feel horrible about hating it, but I've sat on this chapter for days and right now, not a lot can make me like it, especially with the timeskip, which made this "open ending" a rushed and incomplete mess. If you disagree with me, honestly, that is very fair. I'm glad for you if you liked the ending. I'm just disappointed, and wanted to share my opinions. (and I do have more stuff to say about it but I think I've been negative enough)
But for the weeks I spent hoping this wouldn't slap a classic shonen ending in this catasthrophic mess and for making me feel like a dumbass after what we got in the end: Everything after 410 that isn't 421 and 422 is non-existent to me, this epilogue was a freaking waste.
Thank you for reading.
(EDIT.: Fixed some spelling mistakes and added a few more things because I can keep going on how bad this ending is. Also to clear stuff up: I am still a BKDK shipper. But only until 412, anything after that? Yeah, no, keep that shit away from me lol.)

I run from the things that I want the most - Shoji x Reader
requested by @fuzztacular - this was a wild ride to write
Reader has a lizard quirk, this fic is in tune with this Tokoyami fic
Tumblr media
“Cute,” Shoji thinks, lips pressed together tightly to make sure the word doesn’t slip out.
You’re sitting at the kitchen table, fighting against sleep. Your hair’s stuck to the side of your head, no doubt from sleeping on your side, and the sleeves of your sweatshirt dangle from your arms, your hands hidden away. You always do that and while he’d never openly admit it, it’s the one thing that makes his stomach flutter every single time.
But he’s nice and respectful and he’s not going to make you feel weird in your new, shared apartment. Besides, you’re probably not interested anyway.
“Here,” he pushes a cup of coffee toward you and turns back toward the stove, “Do you want real eggs for breakfast or the vegan alternative?”
“Both is fine,” you groan into your coffee, so he checks the fridge. He’s running low on bacon, but the vegan alternative Koji brought over last time tastes like cardboard. Well, he supposes he can leave the bacon for you and eat cardboard for breakfast today.
- -
One month after you’ve moved in, things have turned a little less awkward. You’re in your room most of the time and he’s out for work during all the other hours.
Shoji knows you settled in from all the little things.
Your conditioner is squeezed into the tiny tray with his things, your shampoo bottle sitting cozy on the bottom next to his. Sometimes, when he feels particularly lonely and awkward, he gets flustered looking at your toothbrush sitting in the same cup as his.
But this is fine. He’s fine. Everything’s fine.
.
“I’m making dinner,” he calls out to your closed door. “Do you want something?”
He leans down to pull the pan out, the movement pulling at the fresh stitches. He hisses at the pain, clutches his side, and almost topples over.
Shoji’s barely regained his balance when he feels an arm under one of his, pulling him up.
“Are you okay?” You ask, breath washing over his face. It almost makes him topple over again.
“I’m fine,” he insists, but he can feel a sticky wetness on his left side.
“You’re bleeding,” you point out and he groans. “Yeah, I’m aware.”
“Are you hurt?”
“A little,” Shoji confesses when your brows do that funny thing they did the first time you met.
“What do you need?”
“Food,” He snorts when you look wholly unimpressed. “I’m serious, I’m fine. I just… moved wrong. I think I pulled at my stitches, that’s all.”
“I don’t believe you. Come on, call your doctor or nurse or whoever gave you permission to go home and tell them what you did. I’ll cook in the meantime.”
Shoji sighs and grabs his phone, makes it past the kitchen table when you turn around and snip your fingers.
“In here,” you point at the table, “Where I can hear that you’re not making light of anything.”
- - -
How does one make friends?
Shoji has never been good at it.
It’s not like anyone ever gave him the manual everyone else seemed to be able to follow either.
He’s too quiet or says the wrong things, is too scary or not scary enough…
Sometimes, mostly when everyone he knows is out working or busy doing other stuff, he can’t help but wonder if he only has friends because he happened to come close to one Midoriya Izuku.
Maybe that’s all it is.
.
The front door opens in the middle of his ruminations and you stop, halfway into the apartment, bags hanging off your shoulders. “Oh,” you say, “You’re home.”
Shoji freezes for only a second before he shakes his head.
“Just sitting around. If you want to use the living room I can read in my bedroom just as well.”
“You don’t have to,” you insist, “I was just going to watch something. I can do that in my room as well.”
“What were you going to watch?”
“Oh, you know…” You stutter out the name of a show he’s heard mentioned before.
“I don’t know that show,” he admits, “Would it be too forward if I watched it with you?”
.
The show is quite interesting and he makes a mental note to catch up on it later.
You’re sitting tense, body crammed into the opposite corner. Maybe he’s readying all the signs wrong too.
Maybe you’re not shy like Fumikage said, but rather not interested.
“How did-” You start and he looks over. “Never mind.”
“Please?”
You’re looking away and he’s already giving up hope when you speak up again.
“How did Tokoyami convince you?”
Shoji furrows his brows, a little confused.
“To let me move in,” you explain.
He blinks. “He just told me that you needed an apartment. Didn’t he tell you that I was looking for a roommate?”
“No, I got that, but-” You bite down on your lip and he looks away, intent on not making you uncomfortable. He’s probably doing a shit job at it as is. “I’m a girl.”
“I know.”
You’re now furrowing your brows and maybe you’re already losing patience with him or you’re really just trying to figure out how to explain this.
“How did he convince you?”
“Oh, he didn’t, but my cousin… you know, since they’re dating…” You’re rambling now, already gone far past the point you were trying to make. “And I thought maybe you’re looking for a girlfriend rather than a roommate-”
“I’m not.”
“Oh,” you make and he’d give his career to know if that just sounded a little disappointed to him or if it was meant that way.
“Not that I’m not interested,” he tries to explain himself, “But looking for it doesn’t really make sense if you don’t know how to look.”
Embarrassment floods him like a tidal wave. He’s staring at the screen now, hoping against hope that you didn’t realize what he meant by that.
“I know what you mean,” you point out, voice so quiet he almost misses it. When he turns you’re not looking at him, hands fiddling in your lap as you stare at the screen as well.
“So we’re both unfamiliar with how dating works?” He asks, unable to keep quiet, to just assume.
You nod, stiffly.
“Maybe we could give each other pointers,” the words slip out before he can wholly figure out what he wants them to mean.
You nod again, still not looking at him.
“How about,” he starts, looking down at his hands, all six of them. “Being friends?”
- - - x
“Morning,” Shoji greets when you slip out of your room.
You wave in his approximate direction and drag yourself to the bathroom first. It’s getting colder and you can tell your body’s not pleased about leaving the warm cocoon you’ve built in your bed.
You didn’t get all the cool benefits of your mother’s quirk, not like your cousin. You’re not even a little fireproof - you had to find out the hard way.
But just like any regular lizard you’ve got a problem regulating your temperature.
Your eyes blink back at you a little less colorful today and the world has turned foggy. You bite back a groan and slip into an array of shirts to keep you warm. You know what it means, but if you can live a little longer in denial, you’ll take every minute of it.
.
“Breakfast’s ready,” Shoji calls out when you step out of the bathroom.
He doesn’t seem to feel the biting cold at all, wearing nothing but a tank top and sweatpants. The sight of his bare feet makes you shiver. The sight of his tanktop-clad shoulders makes you shiver too, but for a different reason.
It still felt like a fever dream some days, all of this. Moving in with your cousin right after College only for her to find the man of her dreams within six months of you living together. And she’d been so nice about it too, promising she’d never ask you to move out or leave you alone with a rent too high to pay alone.
But one could only do so much third-wheeling before it became too much.
And now you’re here, already five months into living with Shoji, who’s probably the last decent man on earth.
He even cooks you breakfast every single day - well, minus the two weeks he was out of commission because he got stabbed at work.
“You don’t have to cook all the time, you know,” you point out when he slides a plate in front of you and sets a cup of coffee next to it. You can tell by the color that he did it exactly the way you like the most.
If you could get an award for being a good person, Shoji would have a record in getting gold medals.
“I know, but I like doing it. And you have enough on your mind in the mornings as is.” He points out before taking the seat opposite of you. His knee knocks against yours under the table. He doesn’t pull away.
Sometime in the last month, after making it past spending time together watching a movie and talking to each other at least once each day, it has become a thing to touch.
You had both agreed - in your weird study of what’s the difference between friends and lovers and how to find them - that touch was important. But touch was also… unfamiliar, sometimes weird, and sometimes not at all comfortable.
The solution, as Shoji had proposed, seemed pretty simple: get used to it with someone you trust. You trust him. And he seems to trust you.
- - - x x
Your face is pressed against Shoji’s shoulder. He’s incredibly warm. So warm, in fact, that you want to do nothing more but crawl into his skin and stay there.
“I don’t think that’s going to work out,” he mumbles and you have half the mind to realize that you must have thought that out loud.
“You’re a really good hugger,” you say, too tired to think of a proper compliment but not tired enough to keep quiet.
“Thanks,” he hums. “Warm now?”
“No,” you snuggle a bit further into him, “But I won’t be until my skin comes off.”
“Oh, I didn’t think of that,” he says, “Is that why you’ve been trying to scratch your back lately?”
One of his hands scratches your back at exactly the point that had been itching you all week and you groan, eyes rolling back at the absolute relief.
Shoji laughs, a quiet, comfortable sound. You want to drown in it.
He keeps scratching and you keep sinking, into him, into sleep, into this sea of comfort you call his arms.
His voice drifts around your head like clouds. You can barely make out the words.
“Would it be the wrong moment to tell you that I’m in love with you?
.
You wake up swaddled in blankets, stretched out on the Couch in the living room, no sight of Shoji.
Last night feels like a fever dream and your limbs feel heavy and hazy. When you pull your shirts off in the bathroom, a big patch of your old skin comes off too. It’s thin and leathery and you toss it in the trash, your whole body on edge.
It doesn’t hurt to shed your skin. It’s just… gross. Uncomfortable, weird.
“Weirdo, Weirdo,” the kids had called out, pointing at you when the skin around your nose started flaking off in school.
“Ugh, that’s so gross,” a girl you had called a friend took her food and got up from the table, “I can’t watch that when I’m trying to eat.”
“I’m home,” A voice calls out from somewhere behind the door and you need a minute to recognize it in the midst of all your memories.
“Bathroom,” you call back, rushing to turn the key.
If you want to come back out, you need to look normal.
- - - x x x
“I bought groceries,” Shoji says when you open the door. You glance over, relieved to see him with his face in the fridge, organizing his stuff. “Do you want to have a salad or some snack stuff first?”
“Mhm, you decide,” your voice sounds weirdly choked up and you make sure you’re at your bedroom door before he looks up.
“You okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, totally fine, everything’s fine.” You rush to add, “Just… Forgot I had something I needed to get done today.”
The door closes behind you before he can say anything.
You lean your back against it, but there’s no relief flooding through you, just embarrassment and shame. You look hideous right now, patches of old skin still sticking to your face. You don’t want to rip it off but you can’t show yourself to Shoji like that either.
Not when you-
“Did I make you uncomfortable?”
His voice is muffled by the door, but he sounds close like he’s just on the other side of it.
“You didn’t make me uncomfortable,” you insist. It’s not his fault you’re uncomfortable all of the time.
“Are you sure? What I said…”
You halt, turn to the door as if you could face him properly that way.
“Wait, what did you say?”
“When you were falling asleep, I-” You press against the door as if that could make him speak faster. “I confessed to you.”
Time stands still. You’re pretty sure someone with a time-stopper quirk must have walked by and froze you. You cannot explain it otherwise.
It’s only when Shoji calls out your name that you realize you’re able to move, feet and all.
“Sorry, I just… I… Really?” The last word comes out a little high and broken, a little desperate and lonely, but you can’t take it back.
“Really,” he says and his tone matches yours just as perfectly as everything else he does.
You pull open the door, not at all mad to see him in your doorway, broad and safe and warm and tall, arms hovering as if he’s waiting for nothing else but to pull you in.
“Even if my face is gross?” You point at it, tears already running.
You don’t really expect him to have an answer to that. Even less that he moves to cradle your face in his hands.
“As an expert in gross faces, I don’t think your face is gross. I think it’s very cute.”
“Your face is not gross,” you claim, moving to cradle his as well. “It’s really cute.”
A smile blooms on his face. “Really?” He asks, his tone not unlike yours before.
“Really.”
-x-x-x-
“Someone’s missing,” Sato points out, a giant cake balanced in his hands. He’s counting the heads, coming up short one. “Who’s missing.”
“No one’s missing,” Tokoyami pulls back Dark Shadow before it can wreak havoc on the cake. “Shoji’s just hiding his girlfriend.”
“I’m not hiding,” you call out from where you’re curled up in Shoji’s arms, “I’m cold.”
“She’s cold,” Shoji repeats and you can’t see his face but you can hear the content smile in his voice. “I’m warming her up.”
“Don’t make me regret showing up,” Sato huffs, setting down the cake. “Don’t remind me that I’m single all the time!”
“It’s a skill issue,” Ojiro jokes, tail hanging off the empty chair next to him, “You’re the only one left.”
“The only one left?” Sato gasps. “Koji? Really? Et tu, Brute?”
Koji ducks his head, smiling. You snuggle further into Shoji and grin.
It was a good idea to set Koji up with your coworker after all.

Bakudeku is super canon, an analysis
Sorry izuocha shippers (I was one too, 4 years ago) but bakudeku is here to stay, and that's been pretty clear since the chapter 403 spoilers. So here's an analysis of their relationship through the series commemorating that they're almost canon.
It starts from the very beginning of the manga, these two are portrayed in the very first panels, advancing their importance in the trama.
We found an Izuku and a Katsuki that were friends, till they grew up a little bit to find out they weren't that compatible.
At first we think that Bakugou is always looking down on Izuku, but in reality he is afraid of someone quirkless surpassing him. Because let's be for real, there's a reason why Katsuki wasn't even surprised when Izuku got into UA (not knowing that he had a quirk yet) he didn't even question that he entered and surpassed the exam, why? Because Bakugou didn't underestimate Izuku, he envied (admired) him.
Which is why he had to make sure he knew "his place". Which was behind him, he was afraid of Izuku growing too much to the point he left him behind. I also like to think that their collocation in class ( Katsuki just in front of Izuku) is a hidden symbolism of that.
Izuku doesn't actually like Katsuki, he is pissed when he sees that he got in the same class as him again at UA (as well as he is when he sees Tenya lol). But he can't help but admire him and think about him. He even tells Uraraka "I can't stand his guts but I can't help but to admire him" in the first season.
Bakugou and Midoriya are the worst pair possible in season two as well, when they work together to defeat All Might. They send us that message again and again, they can't stand each other, they're never going to be. Till they are.
Months and seasons pass, and they get closer everytime. Bakugou is more chill about him and Izuku is more confident around him. The super aggressive boy and his scared victim are no longer there.
Izuku surprisingly wants to be closer to him, something that he couldn't have believed a year ago or at the start of UA, Bakugou too. We start seeing Izuku reaching out for Katsuki, when he ignored him all the time before, to avoid a fight. At the same time, Katsuki starts worrying about him and tries to cover it up without success. They both get closer eventually without really realising it.
Izuku then explodes when Monoma insults Katsuki referring to the end of All might, knowing how much it affected him. Remembering him crying. And that's probably the moment when he realises that he's in love with him, because he lies to Katsuki and All Might saying that he doesn't know why he lost control of black whip.
Katsuki also risks his life for Izuku by impulse, following his true feelings and his heart. Just like Izuku did back then. He wakes up thinking about him and willing to die just to see his face.
Izuku leaves a letter to Katsuki different from the rest of the class, we never got to know what it said... Maybe because it was a spoiler of their relationship. Maybe that's why we don't get povs from Izuku since that scene with the blackwhip anymore, because it might spoil their confession.
Izuku lost control of his heart, of black whip again, when Katsuki died. "control your heart!" Was what the 3rd vestige of OFA and Mirio told him, twice... What a coincidence.
Izuku can't, but he tries to. Because there's a possibility that his Kacchan makes it and defeats death, so he has to protect his body.
And finally, Katsuki does it. He wakes up. And then everything makes sense to Izuku again

Master List
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~
Chapter 0 - Midoriya Izuku tells the truth! (Midoriya POV)
The responsibility of being the number one hero comes to Izuku naturally; it’s like he was born for it, even though it was literally the opposite.
Affection, love and care also in his blood; he grew up in a loving family even without having a father; his mother is the most affectionate, most sensitive person in the whole world and Izuku is proud to say that he inherited all of that from her.
What Izuku has no idea about is… well… putting feelings into words and acting upon them.
Midoriya Izuku knows he is certainly fucked, as Katsuki likes to say, and he knows that one day, karma will bite his ass for taking so much from Sweet Pea without telling her about his own, absolutely not friendly feelings, but he just can’t do it. Sweet Pea is the purest soul in the whole wide world, her heart is nothing but pure gold, her touches feel like heaven, her skin smells like home and Izuku is quite sure Sweet Pea is not actually quirkless she’s just a descendant of an Angel and her quirk is jut her being… well… that.
He can write essays about how perfect Sweet Pea is; he’s not lying about that, he has three notebooks full of notes hidden in his secret room nobody knows about, every page filled with nice things about his lovely roommate, about her morning routine, about all the skincare products she uses before she goes to bed, about what food she prefers to eat and what food she makes only for Izuku but barely touches herself; for instance, when Sweet Pea makes a fruit salad she only eats the berries out of it the leaves the rest of it in the fridge for Izuku to finish. Oh, and every time she makes broccoli, she looks really guilty when she’s eating it and that’s the cutest thing in Izuku’s opinion. Oh and mushrooms; Sweet Pea doesn’t like mushrooms. At all. Oh and there is that really lovely cream she uses right before bed that smells really flowery so every evening, Izuku hides his face in Sweet Pea’s neck to smell it; it took him a bit of time to find the right product in her skincare cabinet and Izuku was horrified to realize the bottle was half empty so he quickly ordered one from Amazon so it never runs out; he was really surprised how ridiculously pricy it was but when the box arrived, it all made sense; he accidentally ordered a set of 10.
By the way, it doesn’t smell as nice on him as it does on Sweet Pea, but it does make his skin look flawless and moisturized so he has no complains. Plus, Sweet Pea doesn’t need to spend any money to buy a new tube because Izuku makes sure to change her tube up to a new one before it runs out.
Wait, how did he end up thinking about this?
Oh yeah, feelings. Friendly feelings and non-friendly ones. Yeah, he doesn’t really get that. When Izuku loves he loves aggressively and he can’t really see where one feeling ends and where the other starts hence why it took him a lifetime to realize when his relationship with Sweet Pea went past the friendzone and even then, it did not feel like it was past anything; it all felt natural to him like breathing.
Izuku would lie if he would say he doesn’t have any idea about romance; sadly, he does. But that romance was nothing like what he has with Sweet Pea; that romance was nothing but him being played over and over again for nothing but his money and when he ran out of all of it he was dumped like a misbehaving dog; not useful, not needed anymore.
It’s a story he doesn’t like to share; he was young and stupid, he was forced to do so much stuff he wasn’t ready for but he was too happy to be loved and appreciated he didn’t care about his own feelings at that time, neither about his missing money; until he was able to pay his mom’s rent and his own, he was more than happy to spend all of the rest on his “loved one” and let’s just say he definitely learnt a lesson right there and he vowed he’ll never fall in love again. After a few months of self destruction and a few explosions right in his face he realized the world isn’t about the end; his life is already perfect even without the romance; he has the best friends and the best family, he has a beautiful flat with a beautiful fluffy cat, he’s loved by so many and he’s the symbol of peace now, just how he wanted it all his life.
Life was great and he was satisfied.
But then…
He opened his door to welcome his new roommate who had a Deku cardboard cutout under her armpit.
It wasn’t love for the first sight but it was on the second; the way she slept peacefully in his arms when he shuffled over to her bed to put her to sleep, the way she took care of him when he came home drenched in blood, the way she’s never asked for anything in exchange for all the love and care she poured into his flat and his now-beautiful garden; it all happened without his knowledge, without a single warning, just like that, out of the blue and BAMM!
… yeah.
Midoriya Izuku always wondered why was his own point of view never a part of this silly fanfiction but seeing his thoughts written down on this piece of paper, now he can understand, why.
This is a mess, man.
So after the Big Bang, Izuku wasn’t sure what to do with himself. If he has to choose between keeping his Sweet Pea around as a close friend or losing her because of his silly little feelings, he would choose to go with the former for obvious reasons. Also, doing frisky things with your roommate sounds weirdly illegal, even if Kacchan says it’s okay and Kirishima says your girlfriend who lives with you is also technically your roommate so Izuku’s hour-long mumble doesn’t really make any sense.
When Izuku innocently asks which kind of roommates are those two, he was respectfully thrown out their window.
It was just a joke. There is no way Kacchan is doing frisky things with Kirishima.
… right?
Okay, how did he end up here again?
Oh yeah, love.
Izuku fell in love.
That’s it.
Things were alright for a while; there were a few occasions when Izuku felt a really strong urge to kiss Y/N in a non-friendly way; it usually came randomly, like when they both stared at each other during a movie or when Izuku came home and Y/N jumped into his arms, content and happy that he’s finally home, or when Y/N made his favorite food for dinner, or when Y/N fell asleep in his arms… okay, he felt the urge almost every day but he was strong enough to stop himself until they went camping together and…
No, he is NOT going to make a comment about his drunk shenanigans. That goes to the grave with him. The one occasion he wants to talk about though is when he accidentally kissed Sweet Pea… on the mouth. That’s when the dam broke.
He wanted to let her go right away, of course he did, but her lips were so soft and so squishy and… okay, maybe he lingered a bit before he actually moved away and maybe he hoped there will be another accident in the near future so he can relive that beautiful feeling but the life wasn’t kind to him enough for that; instead, Sweet Pea got sick and Izuku made an absolute fool of himself by freaking out completely. He even got hurt during a battle. He’s never been so disappointed in himself than that day. Thankfully, Katsuki saved the day and as always, exploded his face a few times to get him to his senses, even his mother helped to nurse his girl back to health, so it’s all well if it’s end well and Izuku must say, the next few days after were like a dream; they were both happy in each other’s arms, all the cautions thrown into the fire; Izuku was the happiest man on Earth.
…But there is a reason why people say not to play with fire; it looks nice from far away, but when you get too close to it… it burns like a bitch.
It was a few days after Sweet Pea got better. Izuku was already so close to confess to Y/N, tell her he loves her and that he wants her to be his; he was just about to say it out loud when he was called in to work on his day off. He was mad and angry but he decided to let it go; he made a plan in his head that day, the perfect, fool-proof plan to swoon Sweet Pea the right way.
He will get a lovely pink pot of flowers for her window seal first then he’ll ask Y/N out for dinner; there is a beautiful restaurant on the rooftop of the highest building in Tokyo which he wanted to rent out completely for one day, have a lovely dinner then watch the stars together, snuggled under a cozy blanket with mulled wine in their hands. Then Deku would take out the little box from his pocket; the little box with a little ring, made by his friend Melissa; it’s not an engagement ring, it’s more like a promise; the ring is actually a really cool support item Melissa made especially by Deku’s orders. It doesn’t matter what it is really but yes, he will give the ring to Sweet Pea and tell her about his feelings.
And then… they can have their first kiss under the skies and it will be perfect… if she feels the same of course. If not… that’s another story.
… well. Life had other plans for Izuku.
Blaming it on life isn’t the most manly thing to do though because really, it was all Izuku’s fault.
Sweet Pea and Izuku were chilling on the sofa, watching a lovely movie that afternoon. The mood was perfect, calm and homey, Y/N was warm in his arms and she smelled amazing; he just wanted to remember her beautiful, serene face as she tried to look sneak glances at him, he just wanted to remember the spark in her eyes when their gazes met in the dim lighting; he just wanted to feel how soft Y/N’s cheeks are on this lovely afternoon, but somehow, he got lost in the sensation, lost in those beautiful eyes staring into his soul, and without a single thought in his lovesick brain, Midoriya Izuku looked down at her lips, which he tried to not ever do. It was a mistake; Y/N licked her lips right in front of Midoriya’s hungry eyes and somehow, he ended up being jealous of Y/N’s own tongue for being able to do that, his mind went dark and his heart exploded; he felt like he needed to have a taste himself, just a tiny little peck to soothe the burning desire in his chest, so he did.
He did, and he hated himself so much in that moment.
There were two different kind of feelings raging inside of him; one was self-hatred and the second was pure hunger. He concentrated on the first one; he mumbled a quiet sorry, his eyes the size of saucers but Y/N wasn’t listening to him; she was staring at him, but her eyes were cloudy and so-so beautiful; he tried again then, said sorry again and again and again but Sweet Pea turned his world upside down with her next move; she shut him up with another kiss, right on his mouth, like kissing him there is the most normal thing in the world and Izuku’s lost it; he lost the fight against his desires and slowly crawled closer and closer until there was nothing to stop him from kissing Y/N until their mouths hurt.
It was amazing for the first few minutes; it felt like finally, the last piece of puzzle found its place; he felt complete and so-so happy in Y/N’s arms, the kiss was everything he wanted and so much more; her lips were soft and gentle and she tasted amazing, but somewhere in the back of his mind Izuku knew this is a mistake and finally, his mind caught up to his heart and the happiness came to an end.
Sweet Pea deserved so much more than a few fleeting kisses out of nowhere. Sweet Pea deserved to be loved and appreciated and she deserved to have a choice in this; she might have reciprocated, but he didn’t even ask for her consent before the first kiss. Izuku messed up terribly; as the pink clouds cleared out he started to spiral, which ended up with him crying in his roommate’s arms, begging for forgiveness, but even being forgiven didn’t make Izuku’s heartache less painful. This was a mistake but he can’t say it will never happen again; he won’t be able to forget how it was like to be so close to the person he loves the most, and it’s only a matter of time before he will seek this comfort again. Their friendship is doomed and it’s all his fault; so Izuku braced himself and served his heart on a silver platter right in front of her; he tried his best to make this last “I love you” different than the others, but she just said it back and left him in his misery and Izuku took it as a rejection; he went to his room, crying his eyes out like a silly little teenager after his first heartbreak.
“Kacchan…” Izuku sobbed into the phone and Katsuki’s yelling subdued right away.
“You should be happy, what the fuck are you crying about?” Katsuki mumbled aggressively, but there was a hint of worry in his voice.
“This is not how this was supposed to happen. This is wrong. So wrong…” Izuku sobbed and even without seeing Kacchan’s face he knew he’s rolling his eyes.
“Oh my god, you fucker, life isn’t some motherfucking fairy tale where everything is perfect.” Katsuki reprimanded. “You are not the first fucking person whose romance didn’t go by their plans, you annoying little prick!” Katsuki yelled and suddenly, Izuku could hear another voice in the background.
“Katsuki, stop.” Eijirou’s voice got closer to the microphone. “What Katsuki is trying to say is that just because you’ve made a mistake it doesn’t mean your feelings are not true. I’ll tell you a story… from the past, okay?” Eijirou asked but Izuku had no idea why he felt the need to ask that, but okay. Maybe he wasn’t asking him but someone else? But the only person close to him is….
Oh.
Well, Izuku was too mentally exhausted to put the two things together right now.
This is not the right chapter for THAT reveal, anyway.
“So when I was young and stupid I had this friend I really liked.” Eijirou started, then laughed. “Okay, liking this person was an understatement, I was head over heels for him. So one day, we were chatting about romance and this person was talking about how they’ve never kissed before so I decided to use this opportunity and get a little bit of action out of it. Well, things have escalated and we ended up… going way past the “two bros kissing” stage and I really thought our friendship will be over after that; but then they laughed and everything went back to normal like nothing had happened. So that’s one thing. But the other thing is…” The line went silent for a few seconds, but then Eijirou started speaking again. “I hate myself to this day for letting the opportunity go; they were in my arms and I had all the power to tell them about my feelings and at least give ourselves a try in a romantic way. But I chickened out and I let the “mistake” go forgotten. I beat myself up every single day for it. Don’t be like me. It fucking sucks.” Eijirou sighed on the other side of the line.
“Do you still love the fucker?” Kacchan mumbled, barely audible. Izuku didn’t know Kacchan’s voice can go so soft.
“Would it be really pathetic to say I do?” Eijirou laughed with a sad tone to his usually preppy voice.
“Maybe instead of giving shitty advice to shitty Deku, you should grow some balls and ask the fucker out finally, because I’m quite fucking sure they’ve been waiting for fucking ages for you to get your shit together.” Katsuki retorted aggressively and there was an awkward silence on the other side of the line.
“Uhm, guys, would you like me to end the call?” Izuku mumbled, gobsmacked.
“Not yet, Deku.” Kacchan yelled. “You don’t need to act now or tomorrow. Just give it a fucking thought and get your head out of your ass. Got it?”
“Yeah, Kacchan. Thanks.” Izuku smiled. Kacchan might be an angry midget but he is an amazing friend.
“Now let me call Headphones and message your girlfriend, knowing her she’s probably trying to get through this alone like a real idiot.”
Scratch Izuku’s last sentence. Kacchan is the best friend the world has ever seen.
“Call us if you need to, okay? We love you Zuku-boo!”
“Jesus Christ, that was the gayest shit you’ve ever said, Eijirou.” Katsuki laughed on the other side, loud and airy.
“I feel kinda gay today, to be honest.” Eijirou laughed back and the line went silent.
~•🥦•~
As everyone probably knows by now, Midoriya Izuku likes to overthink everything, so needless to say, he took his fucking time to think about his relationship as well.
He didn’t mean to stop eating and ignore everything for the sake of having more time to think about the same thing over and over again and he genuinely didn’t realize how harmful the whole thing was until he got slapped in the face by Sweet Pea’s teary eyes.
Izuku did learn his lesson the last time he did something so stupid as to ignore Y/N’s feelings, so this time, he listened and spoke up about his own; it was painful and Izuku swears something broke inside of him, but it was so worth it to be able to put his legs in Y/N’s lap in a pathetic attempt for intimate contact.
He wanted to snuggle up close and caress her arms, hide his head in his favorite spot, kiss the soft skin of her neck until Y/N’s tiny sighs fill the space… but Midoriya Izuku knows he won’t be able to stop himself there if this ever becomes a reality so he just… forced his mind to shut down and concentrate on the boring movie playing in the TV.
Life has been really hectic around him in the last couple of days, so don’t judge him for forgetting about his friend coming to Japan. They had an agreement; whenever the other is in town, they are more than welcome to use their facilities and spare beds to spare some money. No questions asked. Hence why Melissa came without a single word, and it’s fine.
He really should have realized there is no spare bed in his flat anymore for a guest though.
Izuku knew he was being ridiculous with this whole “I don’t let anyone in my room” thing, but his room is filled with personal pictures and memorabilia to the brim and a step inside his room feels like a step inside his soul and even though Izuku is the most open, most welcoming person on Earth, he’s still terrified to let anyone inside.
Well… anyone… but his Sweet Pea.
It was a really surprising realization for him, to be absolutely honest.
He also realized he kinda wants to let Y/N in into his room, he wants her to wander around and find the secret pieces of his soul laying on the shelves, and maybe, he wants Y/N to find out that a big part of his heart belongs to her already.
And she did. She did find them all and…
Oh, the ever loving god and all the angels above, thank you; the kiss Izuku received that day will forever haunt him in his sleep, in the best way possible. He will never ever be able to sleep again. Oh my god, Izuku is so absolutely whipped right now it’s actually kind of ridiculous.
There’s nothing in his head but fluffy pink clouds and Sweet Pea’s soft lips. Ladies, gents and everyone in between, Midoriya Izuku has left the earth and lives in Candy Land now.
If Izuku thought he was in love before, this is… something else completely. He drinks Y/N, he eats Y/N, he breathes Y/N, she’s so perfect and cute and squishy and she gives the best morning kisses… letting their friendship change over the course of the night was the best idea. They didn’t talk about what they are, but honestly, Izuku isn’t even sure there is a need to do that; whatever relationship they are in right now, they both know their hearts belong to the other; and honestly, that’s all that matters in Izuku’s opinion.
For now, he is happy with whatever Sweet Pea throws in front of him.
Maybe one day, he will feel the urge to give this a name, and knowing how romantic Izuku is when it comes to his Sweet Pea, he’ll probably ask her to be his girlfriend in a day or two, but right now, in this moment, Izuku needs nothing else to be the happiest nerd the world has ever seen.
… Next Chapter!

Potato ramble:
- I hope you enjoyed seeing Midoriya’s side of the story! I’m actually quite proud of it.
- I can’t really do my usual rambles right now as I’m in a really bad mental state but I really hope this chapter made your day a bit better! I really enjoyed editing it!
- I’m really not sure when I’ll be able to post the next chapter as it’s quite painful for my foreigner ass to write it properly! (I have an exact picture of Deku’s agency in my head and I’m trying my best to write it down but man, I’m struggling so much 😂😂😂) Please be kind and patient with me for a while, honestly, I’m not sure how am I even functioning as a human being right now.
Likes, comments and reblogs are appreciated as always! 🥦

Break The Cycle
Being quirkless sucked ass.
Izuku was simply doing his best to survive in a world where people hated his existence. He honestly didn’t understand their obsession with his quirkless status. It wasn’t like he was a threat to them nor did his existence have any direct effect on them.
Maybe they were jealous that he got to avoid the entire hierarchy by naturally being at the bottom.
Having random people hate him wasn’t Izuku’s problem. He could easily say the unwanted hate was a reflection of the person insulting him rather than it being about him.
The problem Izuku had was how the people he knew and loved dumped him the instant he was quirkless. No matter how much time had passed or the knowledge he gained, he couldn’t understand why people gave quirks so much power.
After all, quirks were useless outside of mundane use and self-defense. If you wanted to use your quirk for a purpose, you needed a license.
Nobody in his life who used their quirk on him owned a license. All the people who gave up on him also didn’t own a license.
They were as worthless as he was.
Inko Midoriya left a trail of scars some of Izuku's worst bullies couldn't compete with.
Despite Inko being a stay-at-home mother and having a husband pay all the bills, she was the farthest thing from a mother. She was neglectful, emotionally abusive, and extremely narcissistic. It didn't help that nothing Izuku did was ever good enough.
No one at school knew that Aldera Junior High wasn't the only hell hole Izuku had to deal with.
It was a cold, but bright winter day. Izuku had just gotten situated in his seat when his three tormentors approached him. Most people would believe Izuku dreaded whenever they appeared, but he found them to be more of a comfort than anything else.
They were a constant in his life even if they called him names or purposefully tried to put him down. They always approached him first thing in the morning and during the school day's last moments.
They never physically attacked him or made him feel unsafe. If anything, their constant presence protected him.
During their first year at Aldera Junior High, some upperclassmen were a threat. No one got a chance to mess with Izuku because Katsuki, Hifumi, and Tejio were already "bullying" him.
"Hey, Deku! You look more sickly than usual," greeted Katsuki, the person Izuku had a hidden admiration for.
"Not a surprise a quirkless loser like you can't handle a little snow," teased Tejio, the guy with spiky teeth for a quirk. It became a habit for him to stick up his nose when it came to Izuku.
Hifumi, the bully with a long-finger quirk, didn't bother speaking. He was too busy typing on his phone. He recently hit it off with a girl and is busy trying to find out where she was in the school.
Izuku looked up at the three with a deep frown, not really having any motivation to give his usual sporadic response of rambles. Katsuki, as observant as ever, took note of the extreme change of attitude. While he was originally irritated, a part of him grew worried that Izuku wasn't just pale because he was cold, but rather because he had a cold.
Before Katsuki could make another remark, Izuku spoke up in a broken voice. "I... uh... I'm."
Katsuki froze, caught off guard by how weird Izuku was being. Hifumi was now paying attention, concerned about what was going on. Sure, he was an asshole and made an effort to ruin Izuku's day, but he knew something was wrong and they weren't the source of his distress.
"Well? I don't have all day," barked Katsuki, crossing his arms as he kicked the leg of Izuku's desk.
"I'm moving... today is my last day here," revealed Izuku in a quiet voice, shifting his gaze to the surface of his desk.
The news of the annoying, nerdy, quirkless kid should have made Katsuki, Hifumi, and Tejio jump in the air and celebrate. Yet, the three were stuck in place, staring at Izuku as they waited for him to say it was a joke.
In one instant, the three teens realized just how important Izuku was to them. It was a disgusting feeling, knowing they formed a strong bond with the person they claimed to hate. Suddenly, the person they'd had around since elementary was now leaving in less than twelve hours.
"Huh? Aunty Inko is really dragging you away?" questioned Katsuki, his sharp tone vanishing into something tamer.
Tejio nodded at Katsuki's question before he backed the blond up. "Not that I care, but this seems very last-minute."
Izuku rolled his top lip in and bit it for a moment, before popping his lips. Flicking his eyes up to the three, he let his fingers brush the soft edge of his notebook. "Yeah, it is pretty last minute, but family problems don't wait for anyone."
"Is someone dying?" asked Hifumi out of the blue. Tejio was quick to jab him in the ribs for asking a question like that so suddenly.
"No! No one is dying... it's just personal things," admitted Izuku, not planning on telling his peers that he was planning on running away.
Hifumi scoffed, rolling his eyes. "There is no way you're leaving because of us."
Izuku shook his head with a weak smile. "No, I'm not. If I was going to leave because of the school, I would have done it in between year change. Besides, I like how close this school is to home."
"So, what fucked up shit has you booking it out of here?" pressed Katsuki, knowing that digging for information was the last thing he should be doing. He didn't want to give off the impression that he was worried. Although, that concern wouldn't matter with Izuku moving away.
"I can't tell anyone about it. My mom doesn't want me talking about it," mumbled Izuku, trying to keep this conversation from reaching the ears of his other classmates. The fewer people that knew the better.
"Damn, it sounds serious," huffed Tejio, rubbing the back of his neck.
Izuku flashed a strained smile in response. "Let's just say it is."
As the school day continued, the harder it was for Katsuki to comprehend that Izuku was leaving. He's never known life without Izuku. Now he was expected to show up to school the following morning and stare at Izuku's empty desk.
The end of the day arrived and Izuku walked out the front doors without looking back. Katsuki watched Izuku walk away, letting the new wave of emotions fester inside him.
He wasn't going to chase Izuku or apologize at the last minute, but a part of him knew he'd regret it.
Hifumi let out a loud sigh before turning to look at Katsuki. "Damn. It's gross that I feel happy for him."
"No, I get where you're coming from. This place is kinda a shithole if you think about it," agreed Tejio, turning to Hifumi.
"I bet Deku snitched on us and his mom decided to just leave," scoffed Katsuki. At this point, he'd say anything to deflect and make himself feel better.
Izuku walked home, up the steps to the apartment, and sucked in a deep breath. This was it. This was going to be the last time he ever walked into his home.
It took weeks of sneaking around to find all his documentation and anything that truly belonged to him. Everything he was taking with him had to fit in his school bag and a small-sized duffle bag. He couldn't raise any suspicion considering he never knew which version of his mom he was going to be speaking to.
Best case scenario she was going to be neglectful and not even say goodbye to him on the way out.
Making his way to the door, Izuku called out to Inko. "Hey Mom, I'll be leaving now."
The sound of rushed footsteps caught his attention. Inko appeared at the end of the hall with a small smile. Tensing up out of fear his mother was in a good mood and was going to ask a bunch of questions, Izuku swallowed hard.
"Don't go for too long," chuckled Inko softly, extending out an arm as she approached. "Come back home right after school tomorrow."
Izuku pulled open the door, refusing to look Inko in the eye out of fear she'd sense something was wrong. "I will, I promise." It was quiet for a moment before Izuku felt a strong urge to say, "I love you."
Not expecting a response, Izuku gasped when Inko happily echoed, "I love you too. Take care."
Suddenly running away felt incredibly hard. He loved his mother and saw how she was struggling with being abandoned by her husband while being expected to raise a child alone.
Despite the part of him screaming to turn around, run into her arms, and sob… he knew he couldn’t. Within the next hour, she could be angry or detached. He was tired of always fearing his mother’s wrath.
Izuku made his way to the nearest train station and started his journey. He took train after train till he was at least 10 prefectures away from the city of Musutafu. Running on nothing but limited luck and hope for a better future, he made his way to a cafe.
He had looked up jobs in the region and found an incredible opportunity. As long as he worked full-time at the cafe, he would be able to stay in the apartment on the third floor. Of course, rent would automatically be taken out of his paycheck, but that wasn’t an issue.
Izuku wore a snow hat and a bushy scarf during his interview. That way his hair was completely covered as well as his freckles.
The owner was kind and gentle. It was clear she loved her job and simply needed an extra hand. Izuku was willing to be that person.
Thankfully, the woman was desperate so Izuku was given the green light to move in immediately and would start working the next morning. Without a single worry, he agreed.
After a box of black hair dye and some full-coverage foundation, Izuku happily made his way down into the closed cafe to sign documents.
Twenty-four hours passed and as the weight was lifted off Izuku’s shoulders, hell broke loose in a small region in Musutafu.
While Katsuki, Hifumi, and Tejio weren’t surprised to see Izuku was absent, the adults were. Before lunch arrived, news broke out that Izuku was missing. Inko was called regarding her son's absence. She tried calling him, but no response.
Inko called her best friend Mitsuki, the mother of Katsuki. Izuku had claimed he was spending the night only to never have shown up. According to Mitsuki, she was never alerted that Izuku was supposed to come over.
Katsuki felt like a bucket of ice water was poured over him at the news. He lied to Katsuki, Hifumi, and Tejio about moving. Izuku most definitely ran away. He couldn’t be sure he wasn’t the cause of it, but he figured Inko was part of the reason.
Last-minute. Family issues. Serious. Inko doesn’t want him talking about it.
Something was fishy about the situation.
It wouldn’t be until five long years later that Katsuki would meet Izuku again. Katsuki was supposed to go on a business trip despite being the number one hero. He was going to be a representative for the Hero Agency as some of the people working on support gear really wanted to work with this Hero Support Department.
All he knew was that was underground, but ridiculously good.
Much to Katsuki’s surprise, the Hero Support building was huge. If his coworkers said that this business was underground, then they were still beyond successful.
Marching into the elevator where he was to be taken to the top floor. He enjoyed not being hounded by the people rushing around. It was clear they prioritized their work over getting an autograph from a famous hero.
When the doors slid open, Katsuki was met with a pretty basic floor plan. On one side of the floor was the office while on the other was the workroom for Support gear.
Assuming the largest office belonged to the owner, Katsuki entered calmly. The last thing Katsuki expected to see was Izuku standing by the windows lining the room.
“Holy shit. Izuku?”
Izuku’s head whipped around, staring at Katsuki. “Kacchan?
Katsuki, in his hero suit and all, raced over to Izuku. Izuku already felt the tears of relief form in his eyes as his chest was filled with uncontrollable emotions. Katsuki pulled Izuku close, crushing him in a hug.
With close to no hesitation, Izuku wrapped his arms around Katsuki and cried. He spent so many years alone trying to navigate the hero world alone. Just being reminded that there was someone who missed him and was happy to see him brought Izuku such joy.
“What the hell Nerd?” croaked Katsuki, pulling back to look at Midoriya’s face.
“I’m sorry, Kacchan,” sighed Izuku softly, looking up at Bakugo with a guilty frown.
Katsuki shook his head, raising a hand to rest against his forehead. “One day you say you're leaving because of family problems and the next you’re reported missing. Do you have any idea how fucking insane that is?”
Izuku nodded stiffly. Katsuki noted that the nodding was less meant for him and more toward Izuku himself. Izuku stepped back to lean on his desk. “It was insane. I was the one who lived it. I couldn’t risk anyone finding out about my plans to run away. I had no intention of ever returning if you couldn’t tell.”
“I got the memo. But still, your mother was devastated… I can’t imagine why you’d leave her without even a note,” stated Katsuki gently despite the rasp in his voice.
Shaking his head, Izuku let it fall forward as a pain-filled smile spread across his face. “Kacchan. She’s the reason I ran away.”
Within a matter of seconds, Katsuki’s world was flipped upside down. Despite his initial suspicion of Inko being involved in the disappearance of Izuku, she had flawlessly manipulated him into a false sense of security. She claimed that Izuku hadn’t been acting any different, that she was happy he was getting out more, and a plethora of sappy mom crap he truly couldn’t have cared less about.
In the end, Inko was the reason. All those days she cried and begged for someone to find her son; she was the reason he was gone. The countless times she was over at their place for dinner, rambling on about Izuku and how incredible he was, she drove him away. Inko played the victim so well and that said everything Katsuki needed to know.
As Katsuki processed the information and the past years without Izuku and his interactions with Inko, Izuku watched. Fierce green eyes lasered in on Katsuki’s expression as the truth sunk in. It was relieving to see that Katsuki instantly trusted him.
“Damn.”
“Yeah…”
Katsuki kicked an imaginary stone before meeting Izuku’s gaze. “So… what did she do? Where did you go? How’d you end up here?”
Izuku smiled, walking to the glass windows lining the room. “She was sometimes good, but she was an extreme narcissist at heart. She was neglectful in all ways you could think of and without fail… every day, she was emotionally abusive.”
“Why didn’t you tell anyone? You know Aunty would have helped,” pointed out Bakugo. While he wasn’t necessarily trying to victim-blame Midoriya, he wanted to know why Midoriya hadn’t reached out to outlets he had before making such a serious choice.
Stepping back to turn around and face Katsuki again, Izuku scowled. “I’m sorry, but do you have no idea how dumb you sound right now?”
Gawking in disbelief, Katsuki crossed his arms in defense. “Fucking excuse me? That’s a very good question to ask considering you chose to run away without letting anyone know instead of trying to get help if you were in a bad situation.”
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Izuku shook his head. “I don’t think you are listening to me. I just told you Inko was a narcissist. If I were to reach out to Mitsuki for help, she would confront my mom, and the entire problem would somehow be my fault in the end. If Mitsuki somehow wasn’t fooled, I’d still be forced to come back home and that was the last thing I wanted to happen.”
“Shit… sorry. It’s just I don’t understand how you just decided to leave everything behind,” clarified Katsuki slowly, raising his shameful head to meet Izuku’s disappointed gaze.
There was a heavy atmosphere in the room, but Izuku and Katsuki weren’t about to walk away from the conversation without figuring things out.
Deflating after letting thirty long seconds of silence pass, Izuku stressed, “It was for the best. Being at home was a nightmare and I needed to get out. Trying to survive in the world as a quirkless teen was far less scary than the idea of being under the same roof as Inko for another moment.”
Katsuki nodded slowly, stepping toward Izuku to reach for his hand. As soon as his large soft fingers linked with Izuku's small rough ones, he tightened his grip. “I’m sorry. You deserved better. I bet it wasn’t an easy decision to make and I know you had to work your ass off to get to this point. Fuck Inko and the shit she did to you, it’s clear you didn’t need to stick around to achieve greatness.”
Lip wobbling and glassy-eyed, Izuku sniffled as he squeezed Katsuki’s hand back. “Thank you, Kacchan. It was hard… leaving you behind. I wanted to tell you—I really did, I just couldn’t risk it.”
“You don’t have to apologize for keeping yourself safe idiot,” chastised Katsuki fondly, lowering his head to focus on the small changes in Izuku’s mature features.
“Right,” croaked Izuku, doing his best to not flood his office with tears. “I worked at a coffee shop full time and lived in an apartment on top of the cafe. I had a good paycheck, a place to live, and I was able to use all my free time to finish my schooling online. Once I graduated, I just started climbing the social ladder while doing countless programs in the hero support gear field.”
Katsuki grinned, letting go of Izuku’s hand to rest both hands on his hips. “Not surprised a nerd like you was able to pull all of this off. Still, I’m not planning on letting you disappear on me again.”
Izuku quickly wiped his face before running his fingers through his hair. “Likewise. We will be business partners after all.”
“Huh? You mean you’re accepting my agency's request to have our hero gear produced solely by your department?” quizzed Katsuki, eagerly. While he was more than thrilled to see Izuku again and know that the missing piece of him was no longer missing, he really did want the best for his hero agency and all the heroes working with him.
“Of course! While I do have favorites and you are one of them, I’d never turn down work proposals!” cheered Izuku quickly as he made his way to his desk where stacks of papers were sitting.
“Hell yeah!”
“But just know I’m still expecting compensation for a decade of your bullying,” teased Izuku, raising a contract with a devilish smile.
Shivering with a manic smirk on his face, Katsuki enthusiastically snatched the paper from Izuku. “Sign me up.”

A person’s 16th birthday was always a big thing. In a world where superpowers are the norm and soulmates are a scientifically proven fact, the two most important times in a person’s life is when they receive their quirk and when they receive their soulmate.
Soulmates can be found through anything from sharing their pain to having their name explicitly written on your wrist. Though only about 50% of the world ever find their soulmate, and all pairings are different.
It had always been something you’d secretly dreamed of, zoning out in bed at night or a class you hated just to wonder what it would be like. Though it was a silly daydream to you, you also knew that just about everyone had also thought of similar things at least once in their life.
You looked around your classroom and at the people in it. You were one of the youngest of the class, so almost everyone had already gotten their soulmark and a few had even found their soulmate. You looked to Toru Hagakure and Mashirao Ojiro, the first of the class to find that they were soulmates.
You looked around to the other people in the class as you zoned out. Many of them had unnoticeable soulmarks or even ones they covered up. There was Katsuki Bakugo - one of the oldest of the class - with a handprint across his face that he was definitely insecure about. It fit his personality, though; after all, who wouldn’t want to slap him across the face?
Then the exact opposite was Shoto Todoroki, one of the younger of the class and so only got his recently, but whatever it was he kept it well hidden. He wasn’t the talkative type though, so even if you asked, you weren’t likely to get anything out of him.
Izuku Midoriya was pretty much his only friend, and Midoriya himself didn’t seem to know what his soulmark was, but after a long ramble had come to the conclusion that his soulmate wasn’t 16 yet. It wasn’t uncommon, some soulmarks didn’t show until both soulmates had turned 16, but there was definitely part of himself that thought he didn’t have a soulmate.
You looked back to Bakugo who was with Eijiro Kirishima, the boy who had mentioned on multiple occasions how he could only see the colour red. He supposedly would be able to see all colour once he locks eyes with his soulmate, a cute but simple one.
You wondered what yours would be, or if you’d ever find your soulmate. As one of the youngest of the class, it would be your 16th birthday tomorrow though, so you’d soon find out.
- - -
Lying in bed that night, your mind raced.
Who do you choose?
Izuku Midoriya
Katsuki Bakugo
Shoto Todoroki
Eijiro Kirishima
(More routes may be added later)

It wasn't often that Katsuki Bakugo stayed up late. He typically went to bed around 8:30, and he was very strict to adhere to his schedule. However, after a particularly fitful bout of attempted sleep, he figured he would bite the bullet now, and get up to make some tea to hopefully help him calm down. He enjoyed the dorms at night. They were quiet, and it left him some time to himself, something he did not get very often.
The sound of the dormitory door closing is what alerted Bakugo. It was... awfully late for anyone to be up, let alone sneaking into the dorms. Although, he supposed he wasn't one to talk. He was up as well, but he wasn't speaking out- well, in.
He peered at the door from the corner of his eye, only to see a green tuft of hair disappear past the corner and down the hall. Bakugo got up from his spot on the couch, leaving his tea pot behind to follow often who could only be Izuku.
He heard the other boy mumbling, and he couldn't tell if he was talking to himself or somebody else.
"- shhh... you can't make any noise!" Midoriya muttered into... his book bag?
Bakugo tried to strain his ears to hear more, but then Midoriya quickly whipped his head back, as if he had sensed him.
"Ah!" Midoriya shouted before using one hand to cover his own mouth, using the other to hold onto his book bag.
"Deku? What the actual fuck are you doing out this late?" Bakugo whispered-yelled. He looked Midoriya up and down and- wait. Was his book bag fucking moving?
"Kacchan! I was just uhm! Going for a walk! Yeah!" Midoriya quickly excused, but Bakugo didn't buy it for even a second, and Midoriya could tell.
Bakugo quirked an eyebrow. "A walk?"
"...yeeesss..?"
"Do you think I'm an idiot?" Bakugo scoffed, almost offended that Izuku thought that would work on him for even a second.
"N-no! Of course not!" Midoriya quickly cleared up, although Bakugo's gaze didn't lighten.
"What are you actually doing?" Bakugo questioned again, sparing a glance to Izuku's wiggling book bag.
Midoriya let out a soft sigh. "Okay... please don't tell anyone..." Izuku hummed and ushered Bakugo to come closer. Bakugo inched forward, and peered into Izuku's bag.
"Is that a fuckin-"
"SHHH!" Midoriya quickly silenced bakugo with a hand over his mouth. Inside the bag peered a wide eyed kitten, soft and multicolored fur looking tangled and ratty.
"Why are you sneaking a kitten into the dorm?" Bakugo scolded, glancing up at Izulu and then back down to the kitten.
"He uhm... he comes around all the time. I started feeding him and then he started following me in the building and its going to rain tonight and he's such a small guy he'd probably freeze to death out there so I couldn't just leave him and so I figured I could bring him in tonight and then re-home him tommorow!" Midoriya explained in one long winded breath. Bakugo just stared for a few moments, before looking back to the kitten.
"Whats his name?" Bakugo asked, reaching a hand into the bag as the kitten gently rubbed against him. He pet it a few times, before withdrawing his hand, acting like he did not give a fuck about the very soft... very adorable kitten.
"What? Oh uhm.... its... All Meowt." Izuku whispered, and bakugo almost let out a laugh. How perfectly nerdy and creative for Izuku.
"All Meowt?" Bakugo asked, biting down a smile.
"Y-yeah. Like All Might." Midoriya explained, and Bakugo scoffed.
"Yeah, I know, nerd." The once teasing name was said with almost an endearing edge. "How are you going to keep it hidden without Aizawa finding out?"
Deku shrugged, hugging the bag close to him again. "I dunno... keep it in my dorm until I find someone who will take it...? Or maybe he'd let us keep it! He seems like the type to like cats!"
Bakugo shrugged. "Yeah, but he's also a stickler for the rules. I guess you'll find out tommorow."
"Yeah... I guess so. Well, I'm going to try and sneak him into my room. Goodnight Kacchan!"
"Goodnight De- Izuku." Bakugo bit back the old insult he used to use on Izuku, although it felt weird after calling him nothing but for the last 10 years of their life. Midoriya smiled at Bakugo in a way that made his stomach tense up, and he quickly turned around to attend to the tea he had left on the stove.
After fixing and drinking his tea, Bakugo tip-toed through the halls back to his dorm. However, on his way, he saw the light of Izuku's dorm peeking out from under his door. He figured that checking in on the kitten wouldn't do him any harm, he supposed.
He knocked quietly on Izuku's door, and heard scrambling and "Shit!" From the other side. He leaned closer to the door and cupped his hands around his mouth, whispering "It's just me, you damn nerd."
After a few long seconds, Midoriya opened the door, looking up at Bakugo.
"I wanted to see if you had gotten caught yet." Which was Bakugos way of saying he wanted to check in on All Meowt.
"O-oh! No, I haven't. Uhm- do you want to see him?" Midoriya whispered and moved to the side so Bakugo could come inside. Bakugo stepped past Izuku without answering his question, finding All Meowt curled up on Izuku's All Might comforter.
Bakugo walked over and pet the kitten on his head, which caused him to wake up, blinking sleepy eyes up at him. He stood up and rubbed against Bakugo's thigh, which prompted him to gently pick him up and hold him to his chest, a moment of gentleness he would've been more embarrassed of around anyone else. He sat on the floor, setting All Meowt in his lap. The kitten purred and curled up in Bakugo's lap.
"He seems like he likes you." Izuku chuckled, sitting next to Bakugo and petting the kitten in his lap.
"You think?" Bakugo remarked sarcastically, glancing over as Izuku scooted ever closer to him.
"Hm... no nevermind. He definitely likes me more." Izuku teased, and Bakugo rolled his eyes.
"Oh yeah, sure. Because he's curled up and purring in your lap right now, isn't he?" Bakugo scoffed.
There was a long moment of silence, although it was comfortable and natural. He wasn't sure how long it had been, but before he was aware of it, Midoriya was snoring lightly against his shoulder, and Bakugo was struggling to keep his eyes open. He told himself that he was only staying there for All Meowt, and definitely not because he may or may not have enjoyed the feeling of Izuku relying on him.
Bakugo woke up to the sound of snickers and a flash of light in his face.
"Guys! Stop! Kacchan is going to kill you all! And probably me too!" Bakugo opened his eyes to find he was laying on the floor, holding a sleeping All Meowt in his arms. He looked up and saw Kaminari, Mina, and Kirishima surrounding him, snickering and taking pictures of him from all angles.
He immediately stood up, setting All Meowt down on Izuku's bed to chase after them, small explosions coming from his hand, but they were long gone.
He chased them down the halls, capturing Kirishima, and giving him a few blasts. Izuku watched from his room, trying not to smile as he held All Meowt in his hands.

The age of heroes is over…the league had won the war and Japan was now under their rule. It happened so quickly the war had begun on an ordinary day, no one was expecting the country to be taken under siege so swiftly. Up until that point the League of Villains had seemed like a bunch of amateurs with only two known members. The heroes had been taken painfully by surprise and suddenly half of the hero population was dead and the rest had gone into hiding once All Might was killed. The number one hero had been their last hope to turn the tide of the war but the hero had died protecting his protege from All for One. At least that monster had died with him when All Might used his last of his power to pummel him into the ground, turning his body into nothing more than a pile of sludge. With All Might gone chaos spread through the streets, people were panicking and didn't know who to turn to or who to trust.
Government officials were being murdered on live television and no one was doing anything to stop it. A video of Hawks killing the president of the Hero Public Safety Commission was released shortly after he exposed the abuse he and many others had undergone in their care. With the HPSC gone, the heroes had no one to turn to to organize a large-scale attack on the league. Many died without the support while others took it as a sign to flee the country or go into hiding.
Former heroes were being exposed for heinous crimes that were swept under the rug by the HPSC. The most shocking being Dabi or Todoroki Touya exposing Endeavour’s abuse to the public before slaughtering him with the former winged hero Hawks. The rest of Japan's government had forty-eight hours to report that they surrender and pledge allegiance to the leadership of the League of Villains or they would be slaughtered and their corpses used as a warning for those who commit treason.
As much as the remaining heroes tried they could not defeat Shigaraki and his army of villains. With All for One dead and Shigaraki inheriting his power, he and his league quickly overwhelmed them. Midoriya was only barely starting to understand how to use his power and was not strong enough to stop Shigaraki despite him thinking it is his mission to do so.
When Midoriya almost died trying to fight off a muscled quirk villain from Shigaraki’s army, Shouta and Hizashi had to make the hard decision to stop fighting and bring the class into hiding. Fully trained pro heroes were dying everyday and his inexperienced students were going to be killed if they continued to fight.
There was an old UA fortress hidden in the mountains Nezu had told him about, it was only to be used in dire situations so Aizawa had never actually been there before. But he knows the location where it is hidden and that it was an old stronghold from the dawn of quirks that had been modified for extreme post apocalyptic type disasters. The base should be strong and hidden securely enough to protect his students. With the help from Soaring, a hero that was visiting Japan when it fell, Shouta and Hizashi were able to get the kids there safely. They arrived with nothing but the clothes on their backs but they were safe at least for now.
Something that struck Shouta as odd had been the difference in treatment they had gotten in the war compared to other heroes. While their classmates and fellow teachers were being slaughtered mercilessly, Shouta and his class were only mildly injured aside from Midoriya. In fact he could have sworn during the fighting he heard someone mutter “Remember not to hurt ‘em too the big boss wants ‘em alive.”. While he is worried about what the villains meant by that. He can’t help but be grateful for it because it gave him more time to protect his kids and make a plan to escape. Now he can only worry about what is in store for them if they are caught. He knows the League had it out for his class, he can only hope they were not being spared only to be captured and tortured by them later.
===
For the last couple of months the League has been working meticulously to build a society they think would be fair to everyone and set up official laws and appoint figureheads to step in place of them in the public and run the country exactly how they want to. They have officials who handle the public but have no real power to change things. They follow their orders and the minute one steps out of line they are slaughtered and displayed for everyone to see. The League usually only makes public appearances when squashing rebellions or publicly punishing those who disobey their rule. They may not be the faces of the country but everyone knows who is truly really running everything behind the scenes.
It has been months since they've taken over Japan and there have been no sightings of their targets. They would find them soon enough, no matter where they run or where they hide they will never be free. The League will always chase them to the ends of the earth. They take what is theirs and those children belong to them.
“It's been ages since there have been any sightings of class 1-A. How far along are we on locating them?” Shigaraki growled out, frustrated beyond words. He hasn’t had a chance to see Izuku since the initial decoy attack on the USJ. Last he heard his baby brother almost died fighting a rogue villain named Muscular and he wasn’t there to save him. Said villain was then brutalized and tortured by Tomura on live television to show what happens to rouges. He needs to find Izuku soon. Clearly his little brother has no survival instinct in him at all and needs his big brother there to protect him.
“They were last spotted boarding a plane escorted by the flying hero Soaring exactly three months ago, current location unknown.” Hawks replied, angsty to get his hand on his baby bird again. He doesn't know how the poor chick is surviving without him there to watch over him.
“Have any of our soldiers been able to locate and interrogate the hero?” Tomura huffed, miffed that they were able to hide so well considering the five million yen bounty they put on each of them. Surely some civilians will be selfish enough to report them for the reward, right?
“Soaring fled Japan shortly after helping the targets escape and is currently missing. We have had several plans to locate him but none have succeeded at this time.” Mister Compress replied gently, trying not to upset Tomura more than he already was.
“This is all taking too long; they could be anywhere in the world at this point. We’ll be lucky if they decide to hide in Japan at all.” Shigaraki rasped out, roughly digging his nails into the soft skin of his neck. The idea of his little brother hiding out in a foreign country made his skin crawl.
“Hey look on the brightside, they’re not dead so that means we'll always have time to catch them later. They can’t run forever. Eventually they'll slip up and we’ll be there to take back what is ours! ” Toga said, smiling brightly. She really wants to see Ochaco again. She had met the girl in the beginning stages of the war. Ochaco had saved her from her fellow heroes and Toga has been infatuated ever since.
“Yeah! We’ll never stop looking for them. No matter how far they try to run or where they hide we’ll always find them. Who are you guys looking to take anyways?” Hawks asked, realizing after all this time they never actually talked about which kids they wanted. They had been so busy setting up an entirely new government they hadn’t had much time to really talk about it. He just knew they were all part of the same class his baby bird was in.
“Izuku is obviously coming with me.” Shigarki said sternly. No one is getting their hands on his little brother but him. Father had left Izuku in his care and Tomura promised he would take care of Izu whether the boy liked it or not. The kid was way too reckless and seriously needed to be reined in by his big brother.
“I'm taking Shouto.” Dabi replied easily.  Endeavor did a lot of damage to his family, to Shouto in particular, but Dabi was sure he could turn his stoic brother back into the adorable baby brother he had left all those years ago. He’ll probably fight a bit at first but he’ll realize soon how much better things are here. He can be a good pseudo-father figure for his little brother and help him regain some of the childhood he lost.
“I don’t want to adopt kidnap any children personally. But I'm always happy to babysit for those of you who will.” Said Magne, the big sister of the group. She loves children but she is just not ready to have one of her own. And of course breaking the little heroes in, is not something her heart can handle. She hates seeing children in pain and she knows that the first few months will be a very harsh adjustment on the baby heroes.
“I already have Himiko but it would be nice to have an innocent child at home that has no blood on their hands. I hate kids! Who would you like, koko? You’re not getting any siblings! ” asked Twice. While he does already have a daughter of his own and he loves her the way she is. Having a sweet non villainous child at home waiting for them while they're out does sound appealing to him.
“I wanted Izu-chan and Ochaco,” Himiko pouted. She wanted Izuku to be her little brother, not Shiggy’s. She had seen the boy fighting savagely in the beginning of the war and liked him and he’s one of Ochaco’s best friends so that made him even better.
“No! My little brother is coming with me!” Shigaraki screeched from across the large meeting table.
“Okay well then Ochaco is better than Izu-kun anyways!” Toga said, sticking her tongue out at Shigaraki. Ochaco would make an adorable baby sister with a little bit of work from her and her dad.
“I personally want Asui. No one knows mutant quirks better than a mutant themselves. I would take the best care of that little girl.” Spinner explained. He originally had wanted nothing to do with the kids but when he found out that there was another animal mutation like himself he started to think it wouldn't be so bad. He also saw that there was a student with a bird mutation but he did not want to get killed by Hawks for trying to take his fledgling. He had never had any siblings or planned to have a child of his own; everyone in his life has always rejected him because of his quirk. So Asui would be his child to love and raise.
“Well I for one do not need anymore children. My little magician is all I need. He’s made quite a bit of progress recently and he will be very happy to know he will be receiving new playmates soon.” Mr.Compress purred. He had gotten his little boy months ago and while he is still a little argumentative at times he is sure that is just part of his personality. He has already made quite the breakthrough with the boy, getting him to call him papa and rely solely on him for all his needs. The others will be so jealous when they meet him, they had only seen what the boy was like months ago when he had been originally captured.
“No need to brag.” Hawks drawled coldly. He is honestly really jealous that Atsuhiro was able to get his kid so early into the game when he is still struggling to find his fledgling.
“Anyway I’m taking Fumikage but you all probably already know that.” Hawks said lazily. He had met his baby bird while he was doing his internship and found it hard to let him go. His instincts had reacted so violently when the boy had told him he was leaving, though he knew the internship was only temporary, the thought of his baby bird leaving him had made him feel so angry and empty. Hawks wanted to keep Tokoyami for himself more than anything. Fumikage had been the reason he had turned full villain. Since there was no easy way to take the boy from his family legally, he figured when the league eventually took over Japan he could finally get Fumikage all to himself.
“And I will be taking Eraserhead and Present Mic. And no I will not be answering why.” Kurogiri said. Shirakumo is looking to complete his collection of friends. At least the ones that are still alive, poor Nemuri will have to undergo the same process he did when he died.
Just as Shigaraki was about to reply to Kurogiri, the doors to the conference room burst open and military personnel filed into the room.
“WHAT!” Shigaraki snarled, watching the general shrink back in fear.
“Sir we've just received info that there have been reported sightings of a large group of children and two adults living on Mount Yama. The descriptions of the children and adults match the 1-A students and teachers.” The man said.
“Send in a group of stealth operatives to get their exact location while we close in on them. Gather the troops and station them all around the perimeter of the mountain, and be ready to storm the mountain in case they want to put up a fight.” Shigaraki barked with a smirk. Their kids are coming home soon whether they like it or not.
===
It had been three months since they arrived at the camp and while it was hard at first they were mostly happy. Yes there are days where they were terrified about what would happen if they were ever caught but the kids were just happy to be alive together and have a home with their teachers. Because despite everything they went through their teachers love them all and would protect them until their last dying breath.
There had only been enough viable rations for the first month because of this they had to learn how to grow and hunt their food quickly. It was very difficult for many of the kids, most of them didn’t even know how to cook yet let alone hunt to survive. They taught them how to cure and dry meat, how to fish and hunt for animals, how to plant a garden and how to preserve food to last for months. Their teachers were very patient with them teaching them all the skills needed to thrive in the wilderness.
They have been trying to get into communication with other surviving heroes to get them to come to their base but have had no luck. The few who had answered had been terrified of even being associated with them. Apparently the league had put out an announcement that anyone that was caught helping them would be charged with aiding and abetting criminals and sentenced to execution. But those with any information on them leading to their capture would be rewarded generously. While it was hard being treated as criminals they couldn’t blame people for not wanting to die. And while most didn’t help them in any way, they were kind enough to not immediately report them to the league for a reward.
One day while out foraging for food the class could swear they felt unfamiliar eyes on them but Jirou confirmed that there was nothing out of the ordinary that she could detect nearby so they went deeper into the forest. They were out hunting for pigs to make for dinner, the wild pigs are the best source of protein on the mountain but you have to travel deep in the forest to catch them. The deeper they went the more they could sense that someone was trailing them, it felt like they were prey being hunted by a dangerous predator. Aizawa would sometimes test them by stalking them in the forest and seeing if they could sense him but… these eyes did not feel like the teacher they loved, they felt malicious. They decided to head back to camp early and alert their teachers that there was something in the forest making them uneasy and unable to focus on their hunt. When they finally arrived at their base they ran as quickly as they could to find their teachers.
“Mr. Aizawa! Mr. Aizawa! Mr. Aizawa!” The students yelled frantically, finally finding their teacher.
“What's wrong?” Shouta asked, alarmed by the frazzled state of his kids. Most of them had tears in their eyes and were trembling, holding tight onto one another. As soon as he asked, all his kids started trying to explain what happened all at once.
“Shh, one at a time please. Iida explain what happened to get you all so upset.” Aizawa asked calmly, wanting to know why the students were back from their hunt so early and why they were in such a state.
“Sir there seemed to be someone following us on our hunt today. At first we thought it  might have been you but something about the presence following us didn’t feel quite right. It felt like someone was spying on us. We're worried that someone may have leaked the location of the safe house.” Iida explained voice cracking and shoulders trembling.
“Okay calm down your teachers will figure this out. Hizashi, it's go time someone found us. They might possibly already be on the way to our location with reinforcements. I need you to come here as soon as possible and help me get the kids ready to run. What is your eta?” Shouta said urgently into the walkie talkie. Actual phones are too easy to track so they have been mostly using radio to communicate.
“I'm coming Shouta, I can be there within five minutes. Please start getting them ready without me. I'll be there as soon as I can.” Hizashi responded, worried voice coming out distorted through the small speaker of the walkie talkie.
“Affirmative, alert me as soon as you arrive.” The teacher said, quickly signing off.
“Alright I need you all to be calm and pack a bag with a couple of days worth of food in it each and dress as warmly as you can. We need to be ready by the time Hizashi arrives. Then we'll need to run as fast as we can alright.” Aizawa ordered.
“But where will we go, sensei?” Shouta heard a teary little voice ask.
“I don’t know yet but your teachers will figure it out. Don’t worry we'll be fine. I need you all to be brave right now. Can you do that for me?” Aizawa said, heart breaking at the sight of the frightened uncertain eyes of his students all being directed at him.
“Yes Sensei.” Twenty wary voices answered back.
“Good, now go pack your bags. We need to be as quick as possible.” Shouta ordered.
The students hurried to pack while the teachers wondered where they were going to go. With the temperatures dropping they weren't going to be able to camp just anywhere unless they wanted to risk hypothermia. They needed to find a secure shelter but they didn't know if there were any left that were not out in the open or in public use. They decided that they would just have to move into any abandoned building they see and keep moving so they do not get caught. It was going to be difficult hiding with such a large group but their priority for now was getting off the mountain without getting captured. The trip down the mountain would last at least three days on foot if they were lucky. It was a risky move but they needed to leave now. The teachers quickly backed their bags of food, once they were done they went to meet with the students who had gathered by the entrance to announce their plan of action. But before they could get to explaining they heard a banging noise getting louder and louder towards the door. They quickly dropped into a battle stance as the doors to the facility were blown off their hinges.
“Well well well look who it is. You heroes have been quite difficult to track down, you know. ” Shigaraki purred, smirking with the rest of the villains around them.
“What are you doing here? They're only children, you have no business with them! ” Eraserhead yelled, ready to defend his kids or die trying.
“Hey, no need to be so aggressive, we don’t have to fight as long as you give us what we want.” Hawks said with a lazy smirk eyeing Tokoyami. He looked ready to snatch the little bird up and fly him back to his nest.
“What do you people want?” Aizawa asked, trying to think of a way to get all of his kids out of here safely.
“The answer is simple really. We want you ,” Shigarki answered with a devilish smirk as Kurogiri opened portals underneath several students depositing them in front of different league members.
“Now no one needs to get hurt as long as the ones we call surrender to us willingly.” Shigaraki said, holding four fingers to Iida’s throat.
“Izuku Midoriya, come here or your friend dies.” Shigaraki said knowing the boy would always put others before himself. The boy in question walked forward on shaky legs with a determined look on his face. ‘Aw look how determined he looks, that won't last long’ Shigaraki thought as he snapped on the quirk canceling collar around Izukus neck. He can’t have his little brother hurting himself with a quirk he was never supposed to have. Oh well he can deal with that permanently when they get back to their base. He pressed a button and the collar sedated Izuku making him fall limp in his arms. He waved his hand to his teammates to quickly get this over with. He needs to go home soon to put Izuku down for a nap.
“What did you do to him?” The boys' teachers yelled, both charging at the villain but they were quickly handled by Kurogiri, collaring them and portalling them away. The rest of the students looked significantly less brave now that their protectors were gone, most dropping their battle stances and trembling, staring at the villains.
“Shouto come to Touya.” Dabi cooed with a soft smile, arms wide open. Todoroki hesitated, clearly this man is a villain that viciously attacked his school and fellow heroes but he's also Touya-nii and Touya would never hurt him.
“Come now Shouto don’t make me hurt one of your little friends here.” Dabi growled. That made the boy come running into his arms.
“Good boy Shou.” Dabi purred as he collared the boy and placed him on his hip. He didn’t think he needed to sedate Shouto; he's always been a good boy for his big brother. He gently rocked him, shushing him when he began to squirm as the others finished up.
“Ochako come over here! You get to come home with me and dad!” Toga said happily, holding up her fathers hand. The poor girl they chose looked as if she was going to vomit over the idea of coming home with them. While that made Himiko a bit sad, she knew her baby sister wasn't going to like living with them at first. But it's okay she and her dad just have to train Ochako a little bit first then she’ll love them just as much as they love her. Twice quickly snapped the collar around the girl's neck and put her to sleep before the poor thing made herself sick. She couldn't afford to lose any more calories, she had already lost the adorable chubby pink cheeks she had in her photos. The poor girl barely weighed anything in his arms, the months in hiding must have been hard on his little girl.
“Fumikage come here or else.” Hawks said, holding one of his hardened feathers to Shougi’s neck. The boy solemnly marched forward, he could not risk his best friend's life over his own freedom. Fumikage cried when he was collared and could no longer feel Dark Shadow. It hurt Hawks to see his nestling crying out for his quirk as the sedative started to work but Dark Shadow was simply too powerful to be allowed to roam free. Once Fumikage was a bit more settled into his new life then they could try but that won't be for a long time.
“Um Asui Tsu can you come here please?'' Spinner asked and that was all the girl needed to march forward, while she didnt know why she was picked she could never risk her classmates' lives for her freedom. Surprisingly she did not receive a collar around her neck but she did get a bracelet that put her to sleep. She went limp in Spinner's arms wondering if she was ever going to see her family again.
“Are you guys done yet?” Shigaraki whined, tired of waiting and ready to go home. He signaled Kurogiri to open a portal back home when he received a round of eager 'Yes!’s from the rest of the league.
“Gather and restrain the rest of them and bring them to location B. Place them in prison A and do not harm them or touch them unless ordered too.” Shigaraki barked at the troops he had brought along. The rest of the class would make great incentives to behave or rewards for good behavior.
“Alright guys, Let's go home.” Shigaraki said, smiling softly as he and the league walked into the portal with their prized possessions.

Title: It’s Okay to Feel
Please read my fanfiction about Izuku after the latest chapter of MHA.  The poor kid is going THROUGH it.  He needs to vent and he needs a hug.
Genre: h/c, angst | Pairing: Gen (no pairing) | Rating: PG-13 | Wordcount: 3971 | Archive: Tumblr
Summary: After his return to school, Izuku Midoriya is forced to deal with his experiences in the war before everything he has gone through destroys him from the inside out.  Continuation of story from MHA 425 onwards.  Canon-compliant (as far as I can guess up to this point).
Tumblr media
~--~
Izuku felt everything.
He felt the afternoon June sun beaming down on his neck, more exposed than it usually was, as he slowly bent to stretch his calf muscles.  It was a poor excuse for a warm up.  He tried jogging in place, taking it as easy as he could.  His legs were fine, thank God.  He could do this much.
He felt the skin below his left ribs pull a little, and felt the dull throb that followed. He tried not to wince. The deep wound had been treated with care during his stay in the hospital, and the stitches had since been removed, but it was still raw and his movement was hampered slightly by the pain.  The ugly scar on his abdomen was thankfully hidden under his UA gym clothes.  He had changed last, holding back in the changeroom while his classmates had run outside to the field, not quite ready for them to see.
He felt a lazy summer breeze flit across his face and along the exposed part of this head.  The scars there were less hidden, unfortunately, and the air stung. He was still getting used to looking at himself in the mirror and seeing what looked back.  The long, angry gash on his scalp had needed surgery to properly close.  He had been lucky, the Doctors had said, that his skull hadn’t cleaved from the force of Shigaraki’s attack.  Lucky that his hair, when it finally returned, could hide most of that scar.  The scar that covered his right cheek and creeped down his jaw- there was no hiding that scar. At least in his civilian clothes.
He felt sweat start to bead under his black compression bands, now worn on both arms.   The bands stretched and tugged but hugged his arms closely.  He was used to their embrace by now, but he almost wished they were longer, that they covered more.  He was keeping his arms close to his sides as he breathed through his warm up, trying not to let them get out of his control, to not let them flop around too much. He wasn’t sure if his classmates had noticed yet. He had been so careful yesterday in class, moving as little as possible, saying as little as possible…
He felt his arms.  Sort of.  And the Doctors said that was a good thing. They thought.  Actually, they weren’t sure.  They told him that not many people regrew their arms after losing them so he was all new to them.  They had even brought in a Specialist whose research revolved around people whose quirks allowed them to regrow limbs.  But answers about his chances of healing fully were limited.  In actuality, Izuku knew what was wrong better than they did. He knew. He’d been dreading an outcome like this since his fight with Muscular last summer.  Before. Since his match with Todoroki in the Sports Festival.  Eri’s horn had successfully rewound him, but the effects had stopped just shy of when Shigaraki’s Decay had started to break them down.  It had left them covered in a mottled patchwork of scars and bruises and thin vein-like markings winding their way over his hands, forearms and elbows.  Skin had been gouged out in places, almost as if with an ice cream scoop.  His body’s natural ability to heal, and weeks in bandages, had allowed most of the deeper wounds to scar over, joining the older scar tissue from his previous battles.  But Izuku knew:  he had been warned over and over that his body would not keep bouncing back;  that his arms could be paralyzed if he kept damaging them; that the patchwork of purple that was his skin wasn’t the worst of it.  His muscles and tendons had been rewound, but it had all amounted to too much for the already damaged tissue to heal properly.  Some feeling had returned, sure.  But moving them at all was his new battle.
He felt insecure about them, yes, and scared.  Simple things were harder now.  He could grab objects with stiff and clumsy fingers. He could bend his elbows with effort and pain.  But everything was harder.  Dressing was harder.  Writing was almost impossible.  Chopsticks were out of the question.  He could form a fist if he really thought about it.  His shoulders were largely fine, so he could lift small objects if he was careful.  His dexterity was just…shot.   Parallel processing was something he had been forced to learn while he had had One For All, so he was managing to think his actions through, but most of the time, his arms just hung loosely at his sides.  Kacchan had told him to follow his lead and keep his arms in a sling to keep them secure, but Izuku wasn’t ready to admit that he needed one.  Kacchan just said he was trying to show him up in their recoveries to “stay ahead.
He felt everything.  Isolation.  Frustration.  Anxiety.  Fear.  Guilt.  Shame.  Anger.  Weakness.  Loss. Grief.  Depression.  Loneliness.  The war had been disastrous.  He felt no sense of accomplishment or success.  He had not “won” or “saved”.  His physical health, while improving, was taking a toll.  His mental health was poor at best.  His failure to save Tenko Shimura and, though he had said differently to Kachhan, his loss of One For All had left him with an emptiness in his heart that wasn’t going away.  Izuku had taken to imagining a locked door again, and shoving the negative feelings behind it.  But they bubbled under the surface.  Waiting.
Most of all, though, Izuku could feel his classmates' eyes on him.  They were watching his every move.
“Welcome to your quirk assessment test,” Aizawa drawled, putting an end to the warm up.  Izuku’s focus was forced out of his reverie, onto his teacher.  Aizawa was standing on the ball field, hair sloppily thrown in a bun.  He leered at them for a moment from his good eye, then smiled.  “Are you ready to see how far you’ve come?  To remember where you started?”
Cheers and whoops from his classmates.  Izuku briefly remembered just how nervous he had been on his first day at UA last year when Aizawa had announced that they had to show off “what they could do.”  Kacchan had introduced himself to class 1-A spectacularly, lobbing the ball hundreds of metres down the field.  Kacchan wasn’t here today,  his Doctors arguing that maybe gym class was a little outside his current realm of ability. And Izuku?  He was probably even more nervous today than he had been last April.  Last year he at least had HAD a quirk.
Aizawa stared at them all for a moment.  He nonchalantly tossed a baseball up and caught it, tossed it up, and caught it.  “First, before we get started, I want you to know how proud I am of you all.  Every single one of you went beyond in your first year.  You are heroes already, and I have very little left to teach you.  But we can always improve.  We can always go higher.  Be better.  Throw further.”  He paused, tossing the ball up and catching it again for effect.
“Now.  Who wants to go first?”
Pause.
Heads and eyes turned to Izuku.  Izuku could see Kaminari nudge Jiro and point, an excited look in his eyes.  Tsu was watching him closely, her finger to her chin, head tilted, expectant.  Iida adjusted his glasses, waiting. Uraraka was smiling warmly at him and nodding.  Izuku could hear a low murmuring between his classmates, and Izuku understood why.  They wanted to see him in action again.  To see what he could do with One for All this year.  They had been with him the day his last punch had destroyed All For One and “saved the world or whatever”, but they wanted to experience just a little of that excitement and power again, to see just how far that ball could go.  And, likely, to see that he was okay.  They knew he had been badly wounded.  They had seen the recorded video of his battle on the internet that Ikzuku still couldn’t bring himself to watch, but everyone else had viewed on repeat since that day.  They wanted a repeat now.
Pause.
Izuku took a deep, steadying breath and stepped forward.
Pause.
Aizawa seemed to sense the excitement and points of class 2-A and a look of dawning realisation came to his eye.  He took a few quick strides toward Izuku and whispered in his ear.
“Midoriya.  Shit.  I’m sorry.  I thought you’d just watch today.  You don’t have too-”
“No, Mr. Aizawa.  It's okay.  I want to try.”  Aizawa peered at him for a moment, trying to gauge his resolve.  Izuku stared back.  Aizawa seemed to sense that this was important to him and relaxed, smiling briefly.
“Okay. If you’re sure.”  Aizawa held out the ball.  Izuku focussed.
Shoulder.  Elbow.  Wrist.  Hand.  Fingers.  Reach. Open.  Bend.  Stretch.  Grasp.  Pain.  Ball acquired.  Fuck.
Izuku stared at the ball in his hand, scarred fingers trying to keep a tight grip on the leather.  There were more calls from his classmates gathered a ways behind him as they watched.
“Yeah, go Midorya!”  Kirishima.
“Show us what you’re made of!”  Sero.
“Go, Deku!”  Uraraka.
“Realistically, Midoriya should throw the ball much further this year, since he is so much stronger.”  Yaoyorozu.
“Anyone remember last year's distance?” Shoji.
“706.3 metres.” Todoroki.
“Did anyone else notice his arms?”  Shinso.  Huh.
Izuku closed his eyes.  They’d find out sooner or later.  May as well be sooner.  Izuku had not activated the embers of One for All since the battle.  Initially, he’d been recovering in hospital and his health and lack of mobility had prevented experimentation.  A couple of weeks after the war, when he’d moved back to his apartment with his mom and started physiotherapy, he’d been too scared to try.
He felt them, though.  Deep in his core, a warmth like a candle burned.  Izuku had been doing mental calculations for a while now.  When All Might had transferred One for All to him, it had been February, and his power had steadily declined since then.  Two major fights later, and by July- just six months after- All Might’s embers had been extinguished for good.
It had already been a month for Izuku, and the last part of his battle with All for One had been entirely dependent on the embers.  Izuku didn’t have much time left, he was sure.
He concentrated.  One for All- Full Cowling.  The candle inside him sputtered for a moment, then the heat grew, expanding outwards, enveloping his body and limbs.  For a moment, Izuku felt comforted by its presence.  Even his arms felt a little better as his blood flowed faster, and the ever-present ache in his muscles relaxed slightly.
Izuku reached his shoulder back and threw the ball, trying to let the power of his depleted quirk push the ball forward, to not let his arms give way to pain as his elbow unbent in the arc of his movement, and his fingers released their tenuous hold.
The ball left his hand and flew.  Izuku waited.
A couple of seconds later, he could hear a distant “thud” as the ball hit the grass on the far end of the field.  There was silence for a moment, then one of the UA robots announced the result, its mechanical voice piercing into the air:
“154.7 metres.”
He felt their eyes on him again, and no one spoke.
Izuku turned to face them.  He could see a few mouths hanging open.  He watched them for a moment, but he could take it no longer, and he ran.  Before they could say anything, Izuku ran. No quirk, no embers.  Just his legs, pushing him away from the staring eyes and gaping mouths of class 2-A.   He ran past the bleachers, not really knowing where he was heading, just knowing that he couldn’t stay there.  Through the tunnel back into the school, back to the changerooms.  No thoughts, just heavy breathing, and dull pain in his arms as they flopped uselessly behind him.
The next thing he knew, he was standing in front of the sinks in the changeroom, panic welling up from deep inside.  He was breathing heavily, not just from his run, but from sheer hysteria. His world was crashing down around him.  He glanced up, and caught sight of his reflection in the mirror.  He was panting and pale- all colour had drained from his face.  His new scars stood out in sharp contrast to his skin: bright, angry, and red.  The remaining hair on the left side of his skull was damp with sweat.  This was the new Izuku Midoriya: weak, scarred, and broken.  Quirkless.
He felt a desperate anger take over and without realising it, the embers within him sparked and ignited.  His shoulder drew back, his hand formed a fist, and, without feeling the pain that was shooting down his arm, he threw a focused punch at his reflection.  Glass shattered and flew everywhere, showering the changeroom with shards like hail.  The force of the punch let out a blast of pressurized air, scattering the glass, tearing the fluorescent light fixtures from the ceiling and a sink from the wall, and pushing Izuku to the floor as the changeroom fell into darkness but for sparks from the frayed wires in the ceiling.  Water sprayed from the sink pipe and collected in puddles on the tile.
And Izuku cried.  Curled on the floor, covered in glass, knuckles bleeding, Izuku wept for himself and everything that had happened to him.
Sounds of quick footsteps came from the door, followed by crunching glass underfoot.
“Midoriya!  Fuck, are you okay?”
“Midoriya!”  Are you in here?!”
“Midoriya!” Hey, my Dude, answer us!”
The sounds came closer as they crossed the changeroom.
“Here guys, I made us a little light.”
A flashlight beam broke through the darkness of the room and quickly found Izuku, still balled up on the floor, soaking wet from the damaged sink.
There were sounds of running as his classmates quickly closed the gap between them.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Midoriya.  Hey, man.  Take a deep breath.”  A hand fell onto Izuku’s shoulder as Kirashima reached him first.  “Guys, he’s hurt, I think.  Can someone run to get Mr. Aizawa and Recovery Girl?”
“On it.”  Hagakure (presumably) turned from the room and left at speed.
“She can’t help me.”  Izuku’s small voice snapped class 2-A to attention.
Another hand rested on Midoriya.  Iida.  “Midoriya.  Talk to us.  We’re your friends.  What do you mean, ‘she can’t help you’?  Your hand is bleeding.  She can get it all tidied up for you.”
Tsu came forward now, with Todoroki, and together they placed gentle hands under Izuku and helped him to a sitting position.  Tears still welled up in his eyes, running down his face, and his breath came in short, shuddering gasps.
“I mean, she can’t help me. I can’t be helped.  Don’t you think she hasn’t already tried?!  She sat with me for ages afterwards.   Look at my arms!”
Unconsciously, Yaoyorozu’s flashlight beam shifted to land on Midorya’s arms.  The purple bruises and deep scars stood out in the pale light.
“Oh. Uh.”
A small pause.
Tokoyami’s deep voice reached out to him.  “Midoriya.  It is okay that you have damaged limbs.  You are strong.  You will recover in time, I am sure of it.  You are already better from when you were in hospital.  You will continue to improve.  Maybe they will not look as they did, but you-”
“One for All is gone. I’m going to be quirkless again.”
Another pause.  No one in class 2-A seemed to have anything to say, though Iida’s hand remained tight on Izuku’s shoulder.  Izuku’s breathing remained quick.  Everything he had felt since that day: the loss, the guilt, the shame, the weight of the world’s expectations came bearing down on him all at once.
“Aoyama shouldn't have been the one to leave UA, it should have been me.  I can’t be a hero now.  I can barely move and soon even the embers of my power will leave me. How am I going to do hero work now?  I’m just some kid.  Besides, even when I had my quirk, I couldn’t save someone when it really mattered.”  Izuku took a convulsive breath.  His dream that he had worked so hard for, the happiness he had felt the past year, was slipping away from him with each passing moment.  He felt utterly alone, even surrounded by his friends.  He could never keep up with them now.  He would be a liability on the field.
The air in the room fell still.  Only the sound of the water splashing from the pipe and Izuku’s laboured breathing filled the spaces between them.
A cough. Shinso was clearing his throat.  “You know, I can’t throw a ball very far either, and I probably never will.”
Izuku’s head snapped up and he gaped at his new classmate.  Shinso’s intense stare looked back at him, not blinking, entirely serious.
“It’s…not the sa-”
“Yes it is. My quirk doesn’t make me stronger.  Or faster.  Or tougher.  But I worked my ass off to be able to stand next to you and call myself a hero on equal footing.  Don’t you dare look at me and say you can’t do something, when you're the reason I stuck this out. You saved the world, and we helped.  You don’t get to give up on us now.”
“But, I'm not going to get stronger now.  From here on out, I only get weaker.  That’s how this works.  When All Mi-“.
“You are not All Might.”  That was Todoroki.  “Just as I am not my father.  You helped me understand that a long time ago.  I think it's time you start figuring that out for yourself.  All Might may have given you a quirk, but you made it your own.  I’ve watched you more carefully than you know. So just because something happened to All Might, doesn’t mean it will happen the same for you.”
He knew what they were doing. They'd tried this before when he’d abandoned UA back in April.  Had that only been two months ago?  So much had happened.  But back then it was different.  Back then, he had seven quirks inside of him.  Even when he’d been clouded by the obsession of bringing down the League on his own, he had felt powerful and capable.  Now, there was nothing.  No vestiges offering advice, no Black Whip, Fa Jin, or Danger Sense.  It was just broken Izuku and the dying embers of a shattered quirk.
Izuku tried rubbing his tear-streaked face on his shoulder, trying to clear his head. “Look, guys.  Thank you, really, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to stay here long-term.  I’ve got a couple months, tops, before the embers die out.  My arms are messed up.  The world is expecting me to help them, to fight for them, to be their symbol, and I’m just not going to be able to.  Maybe it's time to think about my future for once.”
Uraraka ran forward at that moment and enveloped Izuku in a tight, and unexpected, hug. He could feel her trembling against him, like she was also crying.  “Oh, Deku.  Your future is here.  It isn’t UA without you.  You are a hero and this is your home.  Please.  Just…keep trying.  We will be there to help you.  You have helped every single one of us be better.  Let us help you continue being a hero.”  Uraraka released him, then backed away into the shadows.  She seemed sad, Izuku thought.  He had thought so yesterday too when he’d tried to talk to her.
There were nods of agreement and murmurs of assent as Izuku tried to find them in the darkness beyond the flashlight beam.  Just then, Iida’s arm came under his own, and he was lifted up to his feet.  “Midoriya.  You and I are meant to keep each other in check.  Don’t follow this path of grief and pain and anger.  You are strong, even without your quirk.  You are happiest when you are helping people.  I’ve seen it time and time again.  No matter how hurt you are, you just keep helping.  Now is no different.  Be happy and keep helping.”
A shuffling sound in the dark, then a spark. Kaminari had lit one of the damaged fluorescent lights with his quirk and illuminated the room again.  Aizawa was standing in the doorway, Recovery Girl at his side, listening to their pleas.
Aizawa continued to gaze at his class from across the room, arms folded across his chest as he leaned against the door.  “They're right, you know.  Every single one of them.  Even quirkless or with damaged limbs you can still be helping.”  It wasn’t lost on Izuku just how personal that was to Aizawa.  “Listen to your classmates.  Besides, I refuse to accept your resignation from this school.  You will graduate with the rest of your classmates next year, I promise you.”
Izuku looked at each one of his classmates.  Their determined looks met his.  Each one of them, he knew, had faced their own traumas in the war.  Some of them were still suffering.  He could see the cap on Jiro’s ear; the burns on Todoroki’s face; the bandage on Kirishima’s head; the careful way Uraraka was holding herself.
He sighed.
He stepped forward.
He met them at his new beginning.
He felt lighter.

A little rant over the why I consider that Bakugou Katsuki is autistic
Disclaimer: This is just one of my many mha theories. I would rather if people didn't attack me for this. If you don't like it, just ignore it!. Also, I believe he probably has PTSD as well, but that’s for a different post. This post HAS manga spoilers!
I added pictures this time!
______________________________________________________________
Special interest
I believe Katsuki has two special interests. Becoming a hero, and All Might. He is a person that constantly feels the need to mask, which leads to him hiding and minimising his special interest in All Might despite being an All Might fan basically his entire life. A clear proof of this, is keeping hidden his All Might limited edition card despite always carrying it in his pocket. The reason why he doesn’t mask his special interest in becoming a hero as much, is because it’s an interest that he has been praised for through all his life after his quirk manifested. (Which I find quite interesting, taking into account how this gives us more insight about how their society works, quirk and quirkless discrimination, and the way society praises and treats heroes as gods).
Tumblr media
Low empathy and emotional dysregulation
He has trouble identifying and expressing his own emotions, despite feeling them very intensely, which I believe leads him to mask by displaying anger. Because of this, he struggles with vulnerability as well, wanting to maintain his reputation and image of strength and victory, and hiding all of his potential “weakness”, including, his autistic traits.
He also struggles with emotional regulation, causing him to have sudden “outbursts” since he suppresses his emotions, until they explode. (no pun intended).
This is something shown in his fight against Midoriya, and how the only way he knew to express his emotions, was through fighting, and being angry at himself, and at the world.
He struggles to recognize the feelings of other people, he is unable to relate personally to others' feelings, and doesn’t know how to show empathy, especially verbally. (This doesn’t mean that he doesn’t care for the people around him. He is actually a very kind and caring person. He helps Kirishima study, he defends his classmates, he trains with Izuku. The first thing he asked after waking up from a severe injury was how Todoroki and Midoriya were. In the manga, we see him taking into account Shouto’s past, and actually listen to him when they were dealing with the kids. He clearly cares for the Todoroki’s too).
He needs routine
Tumblr media
He has a very specific routine, and always goes to bed at the same hour. This could also be because he needs to spend some alone time after a long day of socialising and dealing with sensory input in order to calm down and relax, and actually be able to sleep.
He needs to have time to recharge
Apart from what I just explained about his routine, this is also something we see after he has a panic attack during the Battle trial Arc. He leaves early, making Deku and All Might worry that he was going to drop out, when in reality, he just needed time for himself.
Tumblr media
Has a different way to view the world
During the sports festival arc, when he was analysing one of the fights, we got to see a little bit of the way he methodically analyses and understands things, and it’s shown that one of the things he does to take things apart, is thinking about it like a videogame! (Which I find really cute by the way, especially because he doesn't strike me as a videogame person).
Sensory issues
His sensory issues focus on physical touch, as we see him avoid physical contact with others multiple times, for example, when he struggled with the hug that Endeavor gave him and Natsuo and practically ran away. He also struggles with tight clothes, and it’s probably one of the reasons why he uses oversized clothing, and hates the school uniform tie.
Tumblr media
I believe that in the sports festival he felt overstimulated by the restraints, and that, in addition to his PTSD, and trauma related to the sludge villain, lead him to having a meltdown.
Tumblr media
(Also, what the fuck with U.A, why would they put RESTRAINS on a child, and then HUMILLIATE him in public, and in television??)
He also has a surprisingly high pain tolerance, which means that he has difficulty processing pain stimuli.
Stimming
He very often grits his teeth, which can be interpreted as a stim, and his way of dealing with the stress and struggle of daily life.
I believe he uses his insults, and curses, not only to avoid having to interact with others, but also, as a vocal stim. Especially curse words. And his iconic ‘Tch’.
Another example of a stim, can be his habit of creating mini explosions with his quirk when he's under stress.
He also has a very atypical posture, which is just a small thing that I would like to mention.
Struggles with social cues and understanding how to behave and adjust depending on the context
This is something that in my opinion, can be seen mostly when interacts with class 1-B, and on the first episode, especially on his discussion with Iida. He overcompensates his lack of understanding of his own body language through his (sort of) aggressive and ‘exaggerated’  movements.
As I already mentioned earlier, I believe he uses the curse words as a vocal stim, however, I also consider that the way he casually throws around the world ‘die’, is him not understanding social cues, and the fact that this is usually considered something bad. He probably understood this later and just didn’t care though.
He avoids maintaining eye contact for too long with others, and stares at the floor very often.
He is also a very ‘blunt’ and direct person, and won’t hesitate to call people out, even if it’s seen as rude. For example, he was not afraid to call the Todoroki’s out in their diner, and also didn’t hesitate to question All Might when they were observing as Izuku train.
Tumblr media
He is a very observant and detail oriented person
People underestimate how analytic and observant Bakugou is because of his impulsive facade, however, in my opinion he is one of the most observant people in class 1-A. This is something that shines mostly when it comes to battle, for example in the final exam, and in the ‘Futari no hero’ movie, where he was able to quickly pick up how the quirk of one of the villains worked, and on the joint training arc with class 1-B as well.
Strong sense of justice and rigid thinking
His way of thinking is very ‘black and white’. An example of this is his difficulty changing his mind about Izuku being useless. (We also know that this is deeply rooted in his insecurities, but I believe this also has an impact on it).
His ‘win to save’ mindset, and determination to defeat every villain no matter what, in my opinion is an example of his strong sense of justice.
Speaking differences/struggles
He very evidently has difficulty with volume control of his voice, causing him to scream most of the time mostly by accident.
Other little details that I want to mention
He has a difficulty remembering names and faces, causing him to rely at the beginning on his nicknames. Which if you think about it, usually has something to do with the physical appearance of the person. Kirishima’s hair, Uraraka’s facial structure, Todoroki’s hair (and quirk), Momo’s hairstyle, Iida’s glasses, Sero’s ‘plain appearance’ (I don’t know how else to describe it, don’t hate me, I love Sero), etc.
His skull t-shirts that basically grew up with him. He probably likes them because of the familiarity they bring, being an item that he had worn through his life.
_________________________________________________
In conclusion: He is autistic and very heavily misunderstood. I love Bakugou, I think he is an amazing, and very complex character, and I love it when people analyse him, so if anyone has anything to add, or a different perspective, please do comment on it.
Thank you for reading my one AM rant. Sleep? I don't know her!
