How lame was Shakespeare growing up?

I imagine the great poets, playwrights, and authors were pretty lame back in the day. The people understood them, but we didn’t? Alright. We struggle putting ourselves in that state of mind, at least I do. I think they must have been strange. Pretty..strange. 

Friendo: Hey, make this man a lady. Frienda: I’m a lady. I could do it.

Friendo: No. Make him a lady. He’ll do it better.

Frienda: Great idea.

And then the audiences loved it. Or maybe the poets like Chaucer and his little nightmares with birds and dreams, dream visions. He has so many of them. Could you wake up and have a dream and then write them in a book? Maybe. That’s a lot. And so much detail is what made them --well anything and everything should have detail--but just waking up and deciding you were going to talk about being love sick or being love possessed when he wasn’t. What a guy. But if I was reading it back then I don’t know. Pretty alright I guess. 

And what did people do back in the day for writers block. If they though sneezing was satanic then writers block must have been a sign from the devil himself. What a day. Morning rather. Pretty tasty stuff.

Late, but I've been reading this for the past week. And it's been a bit of a doozy. Started out kinda "eh," but I sorta grew to like it the further I got in. With this, the unit (in my "Early English Writers" class) consisting of this and Margery Kempe is over. Arthuriana, the Grail Legend, and Vinaver's And Caxton's Malory. The Quest for the Holy Grail is part of The Lancelot Cycle, of which it is the fifth part, translated from Old French.
