i really resent the growing idea that media with clear cut queer representation is inherently better than its counterparts with just queer themes and allegory. stop patting corporations on the back for the slop they throw on your tray in the hopes you’ll spare them a single dollar. the guy who wrote all the songs in the little mermaid (1989) was a man named howard ashman, and if you didn’t know, he died of aids shortly after the movie made it to theaters, two years to be exact. many of the people who worked on the film talked about how condition worsened as the production chugged along, and how through all of this, he poured his heart and soul into those goddamn lyrics. working tirelessly to tell the story HE wanted to tell. obviously no one would have allowed a children’s movie with a gay main character during the fucking reagan administration amidst the aids epidemic. so instead of a story about a teenager coming out as gay, she comes out as “loving humans”. the rest of the queer allegory is kinda obvious if i’m being honest. the only part that matters for this discussion is the ending. king triton accepts ariel for who she is, and lets her love who she loves. and now to this day, the little mermaid has stuck with queer people (and more specifically trans women, but i digress) to the point you can regularly see mermaid imagery throughout queer organizations and online groups.
howard ashman’s life was cut short by aids, and a huge part of that is undeniably due to the rampant homophobic discrimination. he’s dead, but now his story lives on as one of the most important films of film history. a story that will be remembered long after his death, and probably ours as well. that’s fucking beautiful! and it’s all possible because of queer allegory and storytelling. to act is if this film would have been better if ariel was actually trans or gay is foolish. we’re never going to live in a utopia where anti-queer bigotry is eradicated, and howard stern certainly never got to either. so to write off stories like these for “not actually having gay characters” is foolish as well. to do so ignores the queer history we should be preserving, and continuing to tell. would faceshopping be better if sophie said “i am a transgender woman”? how about the matrix? the only correct response is a resounding no.
if the revolution comes, i want mickey mouse’s head served on a platter.

American political "philosophy" is full of lies, and the sooner you learn that, the better you'll be at voting.
In the United States, we have two deeply entrenched political parties. At the highest levels (President, State Governor, Senators, etc), this almost always results, at the end, in a contest between someone who is an actual fucking fascist and someone who is a little bit liberal and believes in things like "people shouldn't starve to death on the streets" and "you shouldn't have to go to jail because you used what someone else thinks is the wrong crapper".
The way you get to where the Republican (actual fucking fascist) party is in the US these days is to spend 40 years at it like they did. Starting out with school boards and county governments.
Those are the elections in which it is crucial to "vote your conscience".
Currently, we are about to have primary elections. That's where the members of each party decide who gets to go in the final race.
Primaries are another place where "vote your conscience" works.
However, this year, it is almost inevitable that Biden and Trump will win the primary elections.
Once that happens, there really is no fucking choice.
Until the Revolution comes, or we've done the generations of work necessary to establish multiple parties in the US (in other words, not this fall) the only ethical thing you can do in a Presidential election is vote for the lesser evil.
If you do not vote, or you vote for someone who does not have the support to win a Presidential election (third party candidate, write-in, Mickey Mouse, etc) you are essentially voting for the bad guy.
My recent post about why i would vote for Biden even if he thinks he's negotiating with the Autobots and the Sailor Senshi (because Reagan's mental troubles didn't stop him from doing his damage) has shown me that a lot of you are really kind of ignorant about this process. Voting for a presidential candidate is not an endorsement of everything the guy has ever done.
It's an acknowledgement that this is the person least likely to completely destroy the country.
Also, you should never vote on someone to run your own country based solely upon events taking place in another part of the world.
A President who does not care about climate change, packs the Supreme Court with fascists, and is doing their best to destroy the social safety net of their own country is not actually going to care more about what people living under a government that doesn't owe him anything and cannot help him consolidate his own power are suffering. But he will be more than willing to make a few quips in their favour in order to alienate his opponent's supporters.
Someone who does not care about their own is not going to care about others.

Scenes from December (14/24)
Klaine Advent : Day Fourteen : Dispose
***
December, 2035
“You guys are the worst.”
Kurt grinned at his teenage daughter’s discomfort as he placed the Mickey Mouse ears on his head. Blaine had on an identical pair, and he really did not care that they were in their forties - you were never too old for Mickey Mouse ears. Katie, however, flushed a deep red because somehow a pair of plastic ears was somehow the most humiliating thing that could have ever happened to her -- here in Florida, where exactly zero people knew who she was.
“You hear that, Kurt?” Blaine asked as he perused the overpriced Disney gift shop. He found a pair of cheesy, hot pink and white polka-dotted Minnie Mouse sunglasses and put them on. “Apparently, saving up our hard earned money to take our family to the most magical place on Earth makes us the worst parents ever.”
“Well, I’m having a nice time,” Tracy said in their defense. She smiled grandly as she spun a rack of art work around.
“Don’t let them fool you,” Katie said, leaning in to her. “This trip was entirely for them. We’re just not legal yet, and have to be subjected to all of their indulgent whims.”
“Oohh - someone’s been brushing up on their ACT words,” Kurt said, with some heavy sarcasm. She had been complaining nearly the entire week they had been there. Was he this bad at fifteen? Oh, how his dad will probably laugh when he calls after their vacation. “And if you’re not happy - we can send you back to stay with Grandpa Burt in Ohio. I hear it’s snowing. I’m sure he’ll let you shovel the driveway.”
“Do you hear how easily they’d dispose of us,” Katie continued. “Their own daughters.”
“No, only you,” Tracy shot back. “They apparently still like me.”
Kurt bit his lip, trying not to laugh at Tracy’s sting.
“We like both of you,” Blaine said - always the diplomat. “No one is getting sent back to Ohio to shovel snow.”
“Yet,” Kurt couldn’t help but mutter.
Blaine shot him a look over the glasses. “Look, it’s been a fun vacation. Why don’t we just try to enjoy what we can while we’re here.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” Katie shot at him. “Because you seem to get off to amusement parks and crowds and embarrassing public serenades.”
Blaine looked almost aghast that she’d speak to him that way. Kurt wasn’t as surprised - she did take after him when it came to her weaponizing her words.
“Hey - I think singing in public is romantic,” Tracy cut in. Sweet, little Tracy - truly of Blaine’s spirit.
“You know, your father does look rather attractive right now,” Kurt said. Really, Blaine looked comically ridiculous with the ears and the sunglasses, but he was still rather fond of his husband. And maybe made him a bad parent, but he did get a slight kick out of getting under Katie’s skin. “Maybe we’ll go out into the courtyard - right outside Cinderella’s castle and sing an impromptu duet.”
“Oh god, no.”
Kurt continued, “we could even grab a Disney Prince and make it a threesome.”
“Don’t you mean trio?” asked a confused Tracy.
“No, now they’re just being purposely and publicly gross for my utter humiliation,” Katie said, her entire face scrunched in revolution.
Blaine grinned at him, shaking his head.
“What do you think, Blaine? Sleeping Beauty’s Prince Phillip maybe?” Kurt suggested, with an eyebrow raised.
Blaine considered. “Prince Eric.”
“Eh, he’s a bit dense.”
“Ooh, Aladdin.”
“Or Hercules - he could be really fancy with the choreography and throw you over his shoulder.”
“Or the Beast! There’s nothing wrong with a guy with a little extra hair.”
“Okay, stop,” a mortified Katie shouted. “Forever stop this conversation. Why do you guys continue to say things I can never unhear? Why can’t you guys be normal and boring like the rest of my friends’ parents? I just cannot believe I actually came from the two of you.”
“Well, technically - only one of them,” Tracy cut in. “Since neither of them have a uterus, it would have been rather hard for them to both contribute to your genetic make-up.” Katie’s mouth dropped, and for once she was shocked into complete silence. “What? We talked about genetics in science this year.”
“Well, she is right,” Blaine said, thinking about it. “Though we did mix the sperm together so the genetics would be a surprise.”
Katie let out a low groan as she buried her head in her hands. Kurt, trying not to die of laughter, put a somewhat sympathetic arm around her shoulders. “Don’t worry, kiddo,” he said, unintentionally channeling his dad. “It’ll probably get a lot worse before it gets better. But at some point, you’ll learn to appreciate us.”

Mickey leading the toons to a revolution knowing they will likely lose but they struggle can inspire people on the real word to free them from Disney and stop corporations Enjolras style.
"Evil corporate mascot Mickey Mouse" is such a boring and unfunny take imo. Why direct frustration and anger at Disney towards a literal cartoon character instead of the actual people in charge?
"Fed up toon icon Mickey Mouse who hates current Disney more than anyone else?" Much more funny and accurate to Mickey's character. Actively turns Disney's own mascot, and one of their most well-known and beloved characters, against them. Mickey Mouse says that pirating and buying fanmade merch is always morally okay. He's counting the seconds until he finally escapes into the public domain.

The Magic of Animation: Bringing Imagination to Life
Animation is a captivating art form that transcends the boundaries of reality, allowing us to explore fantastical worlds, meet extraordinary characters, and experience stories that touch our hearts and minds. From classic cartoons to cutting-edge CGI, animation has evolved significantly, becoming an integral part of our entertainment landscape. In this blog post, we'll delve into the magic of animation, its evolution, and its impact on storytelling and culture.
The Evolution of Animation
The journey of animation began long before the advent of computers. Early pioneers like Walt Disney and Max Fleischer experimented with hand-drawn techniques, creating iconic characters such as Mickey Mouse and Betty Boop. These early animations were painstakingly crafted, frame by frame, requiring immense patience and creativity.
With technological advancements, the animation industry witnessed a revolution. The introduction of computer-generated imagery (CGI) opened new horizons, allowing animators to create more detailed and realistic visuals. Pixar's "Toy Story," released in 1995, was the first fully CGI feature film, marking a significant milestone in the animation world. Today, studios like Disney, Pixar, and DreamWorks continue to push the boundaries, producing visually stunning films that captivate audiences worldwide.
The Art of Storytelling
At its core, animation is a powerful storytelling medium. It has the unique ability to convey complex emotions and narratives in a visually engaging way. Through animation, creators can explore themes ranging from love and friendship to heroism and adversity, often using metaphors and symbolism that resonate deeply with viewers.
Animated films and series are not just for children; they appeal to all age groups. For instance, Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away" and Pixar's "Up" are beloved by audiences of all ages for their rich storytelling and emotional depth. Animation transcends language barriers, making it a universal form of expression that can connect with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Animation Techniques
There are various techniques used in animation, each with its unique charm and style:
2D Animation: This traditional form involves creating movement in a two-dimensional artistic space. Classic examples include Disney's "The Lion King" and "Beauty and the Beast." Despite the rise of 3D, 2D animation remains popular for its distinct aesthetic and nostalgic appeal.
3D Animation: Utilizing computer graphics, 3D animation creates lifelike characters and environments. Movies like "Frozen" and "Toy Story" showcase the depth and realism achievable with this technique.
Stop Motion: This technique involves photographing objects frame by frame to create movement. Films like "Coraline" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" are prime examples of the intricate artistry involved in stop-motion animation.
Motion Graphics: Often used in advertising and media, motion graphics combine animation and graphic design to convey information dynamically. They are ideal for explainer videos, title sequences, and promotional content.
The Impact of Animation
Animation's influence extends beyond entertainment. It plays a crucial role in education, advertising, and even healthcare. Educational animations make learning engaging and accessible, while animated advertisements capture consumer attention and convey messages effectively.
In healthcare, animation helps visualize complex medical concepts, making it easier for patients to understand their conditions and treatments. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, which heavily rely on animation, are revolutionizing fields such as medicine, engineering, and architecture.
The Future of Animation
As technology continues to evolve, the future of animation looks incredibly promising. Innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are beginning to impact the animation industry, streamlining processes and opening new creative possibilities. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are also set to revolutionize how we experience animated content, offering immersive experiences that blur the lines between the digital and physical worlds.
Conclusion
Animation is a magical art form that brings imagination to life, captivating audiences with its ability to tell stories in visually stunning ways. From its humble beginnings to the cutting-edge technologies of today, animation continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation. Whether it's a heartwarming tale, an educational video, or an immersive VR experience, animation has the power to inspire, educate, and entertain like no other medium. As Animation Studio looks to the future, the possibilities for animation are limitless, promising even more extraordinary journeys into the realms of imagination.

(I can't believe it's almost ten years...)
On 8th October 2013, italian Disney comics fans would go to their local newsstand to find their favorite magazine with this cover:
And everyone in Italy knows what that overhead kick means: Panini.
After 25 years in the hands of Disney Italia, the rights for the publication of Disney stories in Italy passed onto Panini Comics, the comics and books division of Panini S.p.A.
The company headquartered in Modena has made (and still makes) the childhood of every italian with their football players sticker albums, and Cavazzano couldn't be more eloquent by drawing Mickey in that position: that overhead kick is on every packet of stickers since 1965!
It is actually a reproduction of a photograph taken in 1950 during the football match between Juventus and Fiorentina (let's take a moment to appreciate the beauty of this shot):
It was the last desperate measure Juventus defender Carlo Parola opted for to defend his team's goal. Since Panini adopted it for their stickers it became not only the symbol of italian football but it's still nowadays one the most reproduced images in the world!
Needless to say, since Panini became Disney's new italian publisher we witnessed a revolution in terms of number of publications, diversification of the editions (with some aimed specifically to collectors), we saw the coming of the variant covers for Topolino... not only that, comics conventions such as Lucca Comics & Games became a medium to announce new initiatives, new series, new stories: the Disney stand stopped being a little corner for children to play.
Saying it bluntly: Panini adopted for italian Disney comics the american way (after all they're italian Marvel publisher since 1994), which is both good and bad. I said this already somewhere else: there are times when you want to kiss Panini's feet and others when all you want is to make an expedition to Modena to place a bomb at their headquarter! 😁😁❤️

“You love her, don’t you?”
Just a short Thasmin coda for Revolution of the Daleks, don’t mind me.
{o0o}
“You love her, don’t you?” Jack asks out of nowhere, and Yaz stops dead in her tracks.
“What? I- no, I… what gave you that impression?”
He gives her a hard glare, but sighs and relents. “I’ve seen it before. I know what people look like when they’re in love with the Doctor.”
He starts walking again, and Yaz has to hurry to keep up. “People have dated the Doctor?”
Jack snorts. “I don’t think ‘dated’ is the right word, but sure. First Rose, and that broke him when she left. And Martha had a pretty big crush, but she’s married to Mickey now. Not to mention River, obviously.”
“River?”
“River Song, the Doctor’s wife.” He grins at her shocked expression, winking at her and adding, “Loving that jealous look on you, Yaz! Don’t worry, it’s an open relationship.”
“Oh,” is all she can manage, and they carry on walking in silence.
Japan is nice, Yaz decides. It’s a quiet evening, not another soul in sight, and it is the perfect temperature for an evening stroll; warm, but not hot, a cool breeze blowing gently past. If she lets her mind wander, she can imagine strolling down this street in different circumstances - not on a mission to stop some of the deadliest creatures in the universe, but on a date instead. She wonders if the Doctor would enjoy that, but quickly shakes the thought from her mind.
“It’ll never happen,” she volunteers, hoping to fill the silence. “It’s just a silly crush, that’s all.”
Jack doesn’t say anything for a minute or so, the only sound being the peaceful rustling of leaves and their footsteps.
“She’s scared,” he declares. “It’s hard - being immortal. You know that everyone you get close to leaves eventually, so she thinks it’s better not to get too attached.”
“That’s a horrible way to live,” Yaz murmurs.
“She’s lost so many people, Yaz. She just keeps running in the opposite direction, never looking back and never stopping moving so that she doesn’t drown in grief.”
They look up at the size of the building they arrive at in tandem, taking in its monstrous size.
“You’ve just gotta convince her that you are worth the pain of losing,” Jack finishes, looking down at her. “Now come on, let’s go defeat some daleks, Yasmin Khan.”

Some Utena questions if you feel like it (if not, feel free to ignore ofc 😁) but soooo thoughts about the show? Anything that truly surprised you, anything you weren't a fan of? Best duel? 👀
Oh wow okay let’s go 💆🏼♀️🌹!!
Thoughts in general…talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
I have so many thoughts on the Utena-myth (so to say) to begin with…it’s so dear to me…I first started reading it when I was about 14 and then finished it when I was in my 20s and then it took me another year until the ending suddenly clicked into place. Every time I interact with the story, it feels like another revolution, a new evolution. Absolutely incredible stuff. But the anime…wow. It’s such a dream, it’s so surreal, it’s so intricate and beautiful. So many things happen at once, folded over each other like petals. And there’s so much that’s said and not said at the same time [which…we do have a saying here — when someone has something harsh to say and sweetens it for the benefit of the person he’s saying it to, he’s saying it “durch die Blume”, “through the flower”]
[im still very caught up in the experience of finishing the last episode so this got a little rambly]
I had so much fun, to make it short.
So right now, I really can’t say that there was anything I truly disliked. I’m a bit unsure how I feel about Akio and Dios (as I did love the Dios reveal in the Manga and while the end result is somewhat the same, I feel like the anime lacked the punch here. Things didn’t shatter as much as they slowly cracked and crumbled, if that makes sense? I’m left to wonder whether I messed up while reading and the implication was the exact same the whole time and I just didn’t catch it?!?!?! But either way, I still remember how I felt the first time I saw Dios slip off that globe. Unparalleled. As much as I loved the concept of Venus is Morning Star is Lucifer here) — most of the things that’d come to mind immediately, like the repetitive nature of the episodes/transformation sequences etc, on second glance just heightened my enjoyment of what I was watching (repetitive character of myths!! Fate is expressed in repetition! Everything is endlessly repeated!!). [except the the filler episodes that just repeated what had happened and the Nanami cow&curry arks. Mostly because I really liked Nanami and I felt bad for her….especially since the curry thing was so truly innocent and stupid in the manga, I was so offended that she supposedly and temporarily got the blame for it…]
What truly surprised me — that’s difficult since I in theory knew the story already but wow the last two episodes did mess with me a little. I’m still not — Akio’s features changing when he promises the life up in the castle was so eerie, I’m not over it. Im also not sure whether I imagined that?! I thought he suddenly looked like Anthy, but it could’ve been just Dios but it could’ve been Anthy still for that same reason but — to make it short It was too much for me.
Oh yeah and fucking. Touga and Nanami. I was SO ready to accept that weak ass, Thorki style “it’s not by blood” thing. Like yeah fine that doesn’t change shit if you grew up together but alright whatever let’s go. And then ?! Double punch back?! I’m not OVER it. Touga I want to study you like a bug. //I am realising in real time right now that he probably did all that, the cruelty(1) and the lies(2), to help her feel better? Either by forcing her to move on(1) or by giving her an out a for her desires(2). Either way I—
[in general I do want to watch it all over again right away and focusing on the side characters. Like what happened to Mickey in the end? I don’t recall HIS ark ever getting a resolution like the other duellists?! Did he and Kozue just make up and call it a day…? (And btw am I imagining the implications of when they put up that birdhouse? Her digging the hole I think? Him hammering it in?? I THINK?i have to rewatch that) Genuine question I wanted to ask you ever since it happened) And ? Saionji just in general. What was going on there (as in…was there another reason for all of that apart from homoeroticism.). Honestly I ADORE the side characters so much]
Favourite duels oh wow. I don’t know. I loved Juri’s last duel, I loved Utena’s duel with Wakaba. Also for some reason the whole concept of the black roses ark just in general killed me every time. But especially Tsuwabuki and Nanami? Him pulling the double blades from her chest…whoa. ALSO! Of course!! Anthy pulling the sword form Utena’s chest killed me every single time. As you said — the slow progression of their relationship, oh wow. It’s so masterful, I loved it.
I’m a right mess is what I’m saying. Just a complete scatterbrained mess. I’m thinking a lot of thoughts very fast.

A Hellish Encounter
By Drazzilder
Chapter 16: Amusement
F: “You’re really taking us to Disney World? Oh my gosh, I can’t wait!”
E: “I can’t take all the credit, it was (Y/N)’s idea.”
N: “If it was his idea, then why didn’t he just teleport us instead of driving there.”
(Y/N): “It’s part of the fun, the family road trip!”
S: “But you’re not even family.”
(Y/N): “Ouch….”
E: “Shoto, don’t talk to (Y/N) that way.”
F: “It is because of him we are together at all, remember that.”
S: “Yea….”
(Y/N): “Don’t worry about it Enji, he isn’t wrong. I’m technically not part of the family. I’m just glad we could give Hina a day off while having some fun. Look, there it is.”
As Enji turns into the main entrance, Fuyumi couldn’t keep her face off the window while the boys the waited silently. Enji was too busy trying to figure out parking while everyone else looks at the fun they will be having. As everyone leaves the car, Enji is about to make some rules for the park but you stop him.
“Don’t make such a big deal about this. Fuyumi is old enough to watch the boys, don’t worry so much about it. Plus, Zaheer and I can sense the children. Here.” You take your finger and place it on each of the kids’ heads. They feel a small tingle as Zaheer marks the kids. “There, now I will know where you are at all times.”
N: “Really, you’re tracking us?”
Z: “It’s for your safety or would you rather be with your father all day?”
S: “He does have a point.”
N: “Fine.”
E: “Since when could you do that?”
Z: “We can always sense people, but marking them makes it easier to track. It’s nothing new but I forget that it’s a ‘quirk’. We even marked you a long time ago.”
E: “Umm that’s kind of creepy.”
(Y/N): “We only plan on using it in case of an emergency.”
E: “Ok. Just promise to meet us by Space Mountain for lunch?”
F: “Don’t worry dad, I’ll make sure these two make it. Come on, I want to go on the Jungle cruise.”
The kids go running into the park to have the time of their lives while you and Enji stay back. He is nervous about leaving the kids alone but he knows that the three of them together will fine.
“Enji, aren’t you worried that people will notice us?”
“Not really. One the park is really full today because of summer break; and two, people hardly know what I look like without my flames let alone with sunglasses on.”
“Ha, that’s true. I don’t think anyone has seen you with sunglasses. It makes it nice they we can be together without hiding it too much today. What do you want to do first?”
Looking at the map “Pirates of the Caribbean? Does that sound good?”
“Anything sounds good as long as I am with you.”
“Now, don’t make me blush, little flame.”
You couldn’t hide your blush at that moment. You’re so happy be with Enji and to make his children happy. The entire morning was filled with lines, rides and the occasional food pit stop. Enji was right, no one recognized either of you as the day went on. It gave you both the confidence to hold each other’s hands in the park. In the lines, Enji would stand behind you and wrap his arms around you while resting his chin in your head. You even kissed a twice in the morning; nothing could be better. Your alarm went off as it was time to meet the kids. You find Fuyumi completely decked out with Disney apparel: t-shirt, hat, balloon, sun glasses and more. Shoto just has a set of ears on while Natsuo only had a souvenir soda cup. At least everyone was smiling, something you don’t see often. They didn’t even lose their smiles when you both come. Even Enji is smiling from excitement and happiness.
F: “Now I see why they call this the happiest place on earth, even dad is smiling and not that weird fake one he does.” She laughs
E: “I can be happy sometimes. It just is most of the time when I am with (Y/N), but I am glad you guys get to see how happy he makes me.”
N: “It’s kind of weird.”
S: “I’ve seen stranger things. So, are we going to eat first of go on Space Mountain?”
F: “I vote ride first.”
Everyone nods in agreement as they get in line. Fuyumi can’t help but giggle when she sees Enji wrap his arm around you as he pulls you in for a kiss. The line went quick and luckily the cars were big enough for Enji to just squeeze in. You quickly find out why the big guy doesn’t do roller coaster; coming out of the exit Enji’s face is green. You find the nearest restroom and help Enji. He didn’t get sick but he got close. With Enji still looking ill, you decide to go somewhere lite to eat so he doesn’t get sick.
F: “Sorry dad, we didn’t know you couldn’t handle rollercoasters”
E: Still a little woozy “It’s fine…” as he tilts his head back in the chair.
(Y/N): “Here.” You remove his sunglasses place a damp rag on his forehead and pet his head to try to comfort him. “I’m glad we didn’t eat before otherwise you would have actually thrown up. On the positive side, it looks like we did learn something new about your father.”
N: “That he’s a big baby when it comes to rides.”
(Y/N): “Not exactly….”
Z: “Natsuo watch your mouth, I am still here after all.”
S: “Now you have done it, you made the demon mad.”
E: With the rag still on his head. “Fine, I’m a big baby on rollercoasters. Any suggestions that are a little less…. intense?”
S: “I’ve always wanted to go to the arcade.”
F: “That sounds like fun. Let’s finish up and go.”
Off to the arcade you went. Shoto and Natsuo almost ran over some kids trying to get to the new racing games while Fuyumi went for the tickets to try to win the giant plush Mickey. Enji looked lost in all the lights and sounds so you took him to a game you always wanted to try.
“Dance Dance Revolution?”
“All you do is hit the arrows to the beat. It starts of easy but you can make it harder. You have good reaction times in battle so you should be pretty good at this.”
You couldn’t be any more wrong. The first song went pretty easy, only give him a note every few seconds. After a little bit of this, he upped the difficulty and that’s when he kept failing. The man is too stiff in his movements, pressing each button without flowing into the next. After a few failures and many dollars later, you gave it a whirl. You started slow but quickly begin to get the hang of it. After some songs, you pick the hardest song in the hardest difficulty and your feet are flying. You are practically floating as your feet move from one button to the next in perfect form. It gets so intense at one point a crowd of kids forms behind you. After you finish the kids all cheer and give you high fives. Enji looks displeased but you come up to him and give him a hug.
“I didn’t mean to one up you, I was just having fun. You can’t be too stiff playing that.”
“I was more worried those kids might recognize us but so far nothing.”
“That’s good. I think it’s been long enough, let’s find your children.”
You come to see Shoto cheering after he won for the numerous time, Natsuo has his hands on his face in disbelief that he lost that much. Finding Fuyumi wasn’t hard because she managed to make the jackpot alarm go off and win thousands of tickets. She had just enough to get the doll and gave it to you.
E: “You know they sell those in the gift shop. It would be cheaper if just bought it there.”
(Y/N): “That’s not the point, she earned this for me. It makes it more special. Thank you.”
F: “See dad, he gets it. I’m happy I got it for you. And I heard Shoto beat Natsuo badly in his favorite racing game series?”
N: “I don’t want to talk about it….”
You all laugh.
The rest of the day was filled with more laughs and fun. You went on the teacups and the kids while Enji was happy to just watch. A few more rides and dinner fill the afternoon till it was time for the parade. The night was filled with the lights and sounds of the parade floats. Even Enji couldn’t stop himself from being wrapped up in the magic of the night. Luckily you two were standing in the back of the crowd because he couldn’t help himself. He pulled you in for a big kiss as the fireworks went off.
“This day was amazing. I’m so glad we did this.”
“I am too, I don’t want it to end.”
“I love you, Enji.”
“I love you too, (Y/N).”

Fanfic Master List (All Doctor Who)
OneOfThoseThings on AO3
(Updated 8/19/21)
Doctor/Donna Standalone Fics
The Best of Times (Amnesiac Remix)
A mind-wiped Donna runs into Martha and gets some good old fashioned human help realizing her potential all over again. Word has gotten out through the twenty-seven planets she saved though, so there are a few more aliens following her around… including one very specific alien who really shouldn’t be there.
Ship: Tenth Doctor x Donna Noble
Also Featuring: Martha and Jack
The Noble Neverwere
A timey-wimey fantasy fic in which the TARDIS finds a way to keep Donna Noble, but has a little trouble with the details like anchoring her in time and space.
Canon-compliant in the sense that it's never been explicitly stated that there isn't a time-fluid echo of a certain ginger companion haunting the TARDIS.
Ship: Tenth Doctor x Donna Noble
Also Featuring: Missy and Twelve, with cameos by Ryan, Mickey, and Rory
Standalone Fics with Other Pairings
The Volatile Nature of Binary Stars
A dark(er) AU in which the Master happens upon a mind-wiped Donna and gives her a little boost the rest of the way to full Time Lord status. Then they both return to the TARDIS and an unsuspecting Doctor.
Spoiler: Unlike most fix-its, in this one Donna is Not pleased that she was abandoned and does Not magically just get over that.
Ships: Doctor x Master (Simms) AND Doctor x Donna
The Beat Between Measures
A missing scene from Revolution of the Daleks, in which the Doctor and Jack get a proper reunion
Ship: Thirteenth Doctor x Jack
Universal Lost and Found
A fix-it in which Martha runs across a mind-wiped Donna and helps her (re)claim what the Universe owes her.
Ship: Donna x Martha
Note: Doctor x Donna and Doctor x Martha are implied, but this one is a Donna x Martha fic
Polymorphism
The companion polycule fic you’ve all been waiting for. The TARDIS pulls her Bad Wolf through to a parallel world where she’s still travelling with the Doctor. And Martha. And Donna. And things are a bit friendlier this time around.
Ship: Rose x Martha x Donna x Tenth Doctor
Note: This is really Rose x Martha x Donna with the (arguably canonically Ace) Doctor not left out in the cold. It’s not even a little bit a harem fic.
Series
Nice Things; Good Things
A blatant canon divergence from Journey’s End where Donna just lets the metacrisis Doctor and Rose right back onto the TARDIS and then they all just go back to traveling together. Pretty soon after that, Jack gets added in and then it’s just the whole team enjoying themselves for once instead of having just endless tragedy for the sake of character building.
As the series goes on, it gets more and more polyamorous, but it’s set up so that each fic can be an acceptable stopping point so that anyone who isn’t on board can just hop off whenever they like and not have to deal with a bunch of unresolved cliffhangers.
Individual fics are carefully tagged (which makes for a hilariously long list of tags for the series, in case anyone is wondering.)
It Has Been 0 Days Since the Last Incident
The most standalone of all the fics in this series.
Ships: Eventual Doctor x Donna and Tentoo x Rose (in the background)
A New Path (Optional backstory for Jack getting added)
Doctor x Donna
Tentoo x Rose (in the background, leading to Tentoo x Rose x Jack)
A Series of Perfectly Reasonable Misunderstandings
Doctor x Donna
Tentoo x Rose x Jack
(Starting down the poly path)
Indisputably Well-Laid Plans
Doctor x Donna x Jack
Background Tentoo x Rose x Jack
A little light Tencest (as a treat)
Hints at pretty much every combination of these 5
Note: this fic also marks the shift into explicit ratings territory
Proper Communication
Donna x Rose
All Together Now
Ten x Tentoo x Donna x Rose x Jack
Too many subsets of that to bother writing out— just call it shamelessly poly
Modern Arts (and Crafts)
Ten x Tentoo x Donna x Rose x Jack
Just a full stop poly PWP
Standard Courtship Rituals
All 10 pairing subsets of Ten x Tentoo x Donna x Rose x Jack
10 ficlet-style dates
Interspecies Compatibility
A series of semi-standalone, loosely-strung-together stories about the Doctor and Donna working through some of the many differences between humans and Time Lords.
This series tries not to actively contradict major canonical events. But a lot of liberties are taken around that.
Some of the stories are more or less crucial to the ‘plot,’ so the optional ones are handily marked ‘(Optional)’.
Ship: Doctor x Donna
Biological Specificity
A detailed lesson in Time Lord biology
Can be read as platonic, but only if one doesn’t keep reading this series
Acclimatization
Hard to call this one entirely platonic, but could be if one ignored alien cultural implications
Ecological Fitting
Probably not platonic unless you’re using an interesting definition of platonic
Symbiosis
Pretty solidly outside the boundaries of platonic here
Contact High (Optional)
A fun day out
Spandrel (Optional)
A casual day in
Synesthesia
This is where this goofy series starts to take a real turn toward shippy
Atavism
This is where the ratings should probably tick up
Exaptation (Optional)
An optional morning after
Coevolution
The obligatory Midnight fic
Survival Without Recovery
The fix and official end
Not particularly shippy
Lazarus Taxon (Optional)
An optional epilogue with a slightly less happy-go-lucky tone
Also Featuring: Cameos by Eleven, Twelve and finally Thirteen
Open to Interpretation
Less of a “series,” more of a “collection” of fics that are open to interpretation by the reader.
Platonic, shippy, ace-- you decide.
Just Act Natural
Donna gets the Doctor to Martha’s wedding. Shenanigans ensue.
There’s an optional sequel, “Compatible Lunacy” that is just straight up shippy.
Interspecies Communication
The Doctor fails to read the room and Donna has to deal with it.
Originally written as part of Interspecies Compatibility, but it actually makes more sense as a cracky standalone.
Bathtime in B Sharp
Donna and the Doctor have to take a medicinal bath. Pointless fluff.
Cuddles in C Minor
A shag-or-die setup in which the aliens severely overestimate the Doctor’s mating drive and an indignant Donna gets a thorough cuddle.
Absolute Shameless Fluff
Compatible Lunacy
Optional sequel to “Just Act Natural.”
Split into two parts because “Just Act Natural” could be read as platonic but “Compatible Lunacy” makes the whole thing more shippy
Ship: Platonic or Doctor x Donna (If you read “Compatible Lunacy”)
Tension in D Minor
Donna tries to get some alone time with someone with matching human urges. The Doctor takes it a bit personally.
Ship: Tenth Doctor x Donna Noble
Morning Cuddles
Originally part of “Nice Things; Good Things” but it probably makes more sense as a little standalone cuddle ficlet.
Ship: Established Tenth Doctor x Donna Noble
Arguments That Did Not Go As Planned
Donna tries to train the Doctor, one argument at a time.
Ship: Sort of Accidental Tenth Doctor x Donna Noble
(Moody) Gen
(It Breaks You Down) A Little Bit More Each Time
Five times Donna Noble died, in escalating degrees of severity. (Not actual death, but y’know.)
Collaborations
Aurous and Auriferous
Aurous is a Journey’s End fix-it in which the metacrisis Doctor has to save the Time Lord from himself (Written for the DW HopeZine prompt “Plastered in Gold”)
Auriferous is an optional (significantly less “Gen”) sequel for people who think Gen Fixits are all well and good, but want a little Tencest to round it out.
A collaboration with the insanely talented @denzikken and @fritzmetzger
Ship: Ten x Tentoo (mildly implied in Aurous, actively happening in Auriferous) Also some light background Donna x Rose (for flavor)
Special thanks to anyone who’s read, given kudos, and/or commented on anything I’ve put together! Lots of love to the whole fandom!

Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks
Summary: Too much mansplaining
Review: Chibnall supposedly has a plan, and given there were numerous references to episodes within his tenure and before it, he's demonstrating that he has the ability to write consistent development. But this highlights what he cares about, and what he doesn't. He doesn't care about women, as the Doctor and Yaz are spoken to a lot in this feature length episode by men (mansplaining). We're back to the complaint that just having the titular character as female doesn't mean it's good representation. Having the first Asian character in the TARDIS in itself isn't good representation. And apparently, Chibnall can't imagine the TARDIS without a white cis man in it, with the introduction of John Bishop as a companion. I had been looking forward to an all female Who Crew. Alas.
Racism is alive. The deaths of the two black characters are prolonged torture porn. The white woman is killed quickly. The tea lady survives despite being a murderer. The returning white male villain got a lot of dialogue and screentime, and on the back of Wonder Woman 1984 writers automatically default to writing about white men. I can't help worrying that the long term plan of Chibnall is this white American squaring off with John Bishop, the white Scouse. The immortal white Captain Jack Harkness doesn't die from having a Dalek face hugger, so I wonder why he was given the dialogue mentioning it if it wasn't being utilised. Are Daleks high stakes if no good guys die?
The return of Captain Jack brings nostalgia from the RTD era, and the inevitable comparison of show runners. Most of the audience found Doctor Who with RTD, who had companions' hearts at the centre of his stories. RTD had fantastical settings for us to reflect on current issues. RTD had the companions use their abilities (often compassion) to save the day. Contrast this to the current Who crew. What did Yaz, Ryan, of Graham do to save the Doctor, or the day? Yaz had ten months to figure out the TARDIS, when previous companions ripped it apart to with upon its heart. It was all Captain Jack, with his technology, pep talks and team leadership. Jack saved the Doctor from prison, Jack had the vortex manipulator and squareness gun to get to and into places. Jack had the explosives to take out a Dalek ship. Jack had the advice of loving the Doctor being worth the pain of living without her.
Ableism is also alive. Ryan has dyspraxia, but it's only ever stopped him from riding a bike or shooting a basketball hoop outside of adventures with the Doctor. Everything else he's been able to do when necessary without ill effect. This discrimination is minimisation. Ryan becomes the third black companion to willingly walk away from the Doctor (Mickey Smith and Martha Jones before him), with Graham the first white person to follow him. Ryan accepting Graham as his granddad was nice character development in their first season, but nothing new happened between them in the second. It's more development than Yaz has had. What have her family thought about her disappearing for nights in a detached suburban home? Her role is to thirst after the Doctor, and hopefully Thasmin will be canon as I'm not going to watch another woman of colour have unrequited romantic feelings for the Doctor. If you're homophobic and think I'm imagining it, check out John Barrowman liking tweets about Yaz and Jack bonding over loving the Doctor.
Jodie Whittaker continues to give stellar performances with poor material. On the back of the series' finale, she is having a huge identity crisis. As the prison was irrelevant for decades, she's still stuck emotionally where we left her. Cue Ryan mansplaining feelings. Later, she declares she's the Doctor but with no compassion in her eyes - she's defining herself as a killer of Daleks. In one moment, she laments that Gallifrey is gone, and in the next she's killing a TARDIS - a TARDIS that had other people on it but Chibnall has already forgotten. Killing fascists and having innocents as collatoral is bad messaging. Usually when the Doctor goes off the deep end, the companions reign them in with compassion. But where was the human voice?

can this be it though? can this be the end of terrible CGI? can cats be the straw that breaks the proverbial lion king’s back? can this be how studios realise nobody fucking likes this? can we collectively refuse to sink our money into seeing these abominations? can the medium move forward? can CGI reach its full potential, as a tool to create, to innovate, to make art? can we have movies with personality again? with feeling? with purpose? if we can’t do that, if we’re stuck with terrible horrifying soulless CGI nightmares, can we just return to older forms of animation in the mainstream? can we make movies with charm again? movies that look good? movies that feel good? can media stop being quite so fucking generic? can we stop making the same movie over and over again? can we throw out the pile of five or six old scripts that we just keep rehashing while basically only replacing all the character names as though we’re playing some sort of cinematic mad libs and make something new? can we dismantle universal studios? can we start an anarchist revolution at disney world? can we even ethically live in a world where we’re not actively trying to guillotine mickey mouse?
