"I only learned one thing - that I, too, would have died if it weren't for this man. This man who scared me so much I vomited out of fear. He protected me."

After reading Michael J Sullivan's progress reports and seeing that the next series is likely set after Riyria Revelations I would like to conclude that Elan has the funniest reading order. So you start with the fourth series chronologically. Then you read the third one (but actually you can read this series whenever). Then you go to the chronologically earliest series, then the second one, then only do you go to the fifth. Hold on I gotta draw a diagram

Y'all reading Riyria, then Legends, then Rise and Fall is like watching Gary Oldman act in both Batman and the Fifth Element to me. It's like "ooh! This author writes a really good action adventure" but then in legends it's like, "oh wow, he can also write a stunning long form epic" and then you read Rise and Fall and go "and apparently he also writes the most gut wrenching Greek tragedies. Ow." The range Michael J Sullivan has in his writings is absolutely amazing to me, and I love that all of them still somehow sound like Sullivan throughout.

Royce: Am I a good person? No. Hadrian: But are you trying to be better? Royce: Absolutely not.

Just finished Riyria Revelations!
And… omg!
These books were worth reading! I love how all of it just comes together at the end. Will recommend for anyone who likes easy fantasy read with captivating plot.
I have only one issue with Arcadius and Gwen thing…. It just doesn’t sit right with me for some reason…. And I was kind disappointed by it…
Otherwise it was a great read! Haven’t been so captivated by books series in years!

"Don't you see?" She addressed the entire room. "We either fight here and win, or die trying, because there won't be anything left if we fail. This is the moment. This is the crucial point where the future of yet unborn generations will be decided either by our action or inaction. For centuries to come, people will look back at this time and rejoice at our courage or curse our weakness."

Do you like books with tragic characters?
Grumpy & Sunshine duos(but they can both murder you)?
Platonic love?
Romantic love?
Political drama?
Swords?
Magic?
Hilarious banter?
Girl bosses who are kinda a mess?
Cynical assassins who accidentally get attached to people (and horses)?
Empresses who murder their abusers?
Sheltered monks who get to meet women and horses for the first time?
Shady wizards who pop up for a bit and then leave?
“I can excuse murder but I draw the line at misogyny” typa characters?
Redemption arcs?
RAIN?
If you answered yes to any of those, boy do I have the book for you
Well then read The Riyria Revelation books by Michael J Sullivan

Quickening his pace, he left the city through a growing blizzard of white feathers that blanketed the streets, roofs, and balconies where they remained untouched until the wind blew them away.
I am prepared for this to get no notes but also I simply must make art of this scene which absolutely destroyed me. Listen the part with Farilane already made me sob then you hit me with this? 😭😭😭

scrolling the riyria tags after finishing the audiobooks is truly an exercise in “wait, THAT’S how it’s spelled???”
