what are your top five favorite underlust fanfics?

but going on with the question i would say my top five would be (in no particular order mind you X’3) ;

1 & 2 - Can I keep you & Immured both By MadnessofVoid / While both fics aren’t finished yet they have been two of my favorites as a lust fan! i love Lust’s characterization as someone kind who cares about those close to him, and while in ‘Can I keep you’ he has more of an anxious look to him i also like this characterization because it shows his insecurities! also the LustMare relationship is just very cute from the very beginning, they care for each other so much and it shows through MadnessofVoid’s writing even if the story isn’t in their POV, very good story overall!!

(unfortunately both of this fics are blue locked so no link is available T^T)

3 - Something Honest by TheMsource / this fic is what first gave me the hc of the Lust trait being able to be sedated in other ways! also Farm & Lust relationship :D i love how caring Farm is of lust and viceversa! while the relationship aspect of the fic is at the very end you can just feel Lust’s love and appreciation for Farm while he thinks of him! overall very cute!!

4 - Skeletons can’t be too thin (Underlust) By The_Lunar_System_Writes / im not gonna lie, i like this one bcuz of the angst :’) but also because it explores how underlust monsters would deal with human culture after they’re main goal while in the underground was being desirable, i find this very interesting!! ^^

5 - The Body Snatchers By Kamari333 / Fresh & Lust friendship!! while fresh is a bit of an ass at the start of it i really like the friendship they have at the end! one of the many reasons i like Fresh and Lust as a duo (other than the fact that they just look that good with eachother)

6 & 7 - Twin Souls & When The Past Comes Knocking both By Stellocchia / Lust & Killer friendship! shows Lust being caring and getting out of his situation, and while he didn’t get out originally for his own sake he did get out at the end!! also color helping both of them out of their self deprecation thoughts (mostly killer tho bb boy needs it) i love how Lust is confident enough in his own fighting ability to protect Killer against Nightmare in anyway he can! overall very good! love badass lust! X3

just saw the news about the woolly mice made to study genetics in mammoths and thought of u

They have created!!!! angora mice (repeat)

Actually it is very cool they can play with genes like dolls, that's neat that they were able to turn on the cold-faring genes like that! I don't necessarily want to see them bring back woolly mammoths, but it would be nice to have the tech to save nearly or recently extinct animals who may be suffering genetic bottlenecks, or to study which genes do which things in practice. I believe they were working on the whole "save endangered species with genetics and embryo implantation" with black footed ferrets, using DNA from deceased individuals to make new babies! Science is great.

it’s The Body Snatchers and i really like how their relationship progresses from ‘i would kill you if i could’ and ‘ew don’t touch me you pest’ to ‘actually i don’t mind you all that much’ :)

3 - and finally the Error x Lust fic :]

it’s Ink’s a Bastard and this one is admittedly way sillier than the last two but it’s still a good one that i like :D love how Error comes to begrudgingly like Lust’s touch it’s very cute <3 (tho this one is not outwardly very shippy but that’s what the author says and i trust my authors)

How do socotna pairings work?

Also do headless and unbodied ever resent their positions? As in lack on autonomy and respective dissolving of lower body lol, I guess since it's a huge spiritual and cultural deal it varies

In Socotna marriages two sets of same sex siblings are required. Here we have the brothers Unbodied Tasapnu and Headless Lasu of House Mitoca, and the sisters Unbodied Heniya and Headless Batab of House Dedēsne, at the ages they would have betrothed. Heniya-Lasu and Tasapnu-Batab would have been Throned in a dual ceremony after coming of age (about a decade older than this art depicts) and then married immediately. Socotna Throne-weddings are probably the most intense non-festival occasions in Hegemonic culture. It’s something I still need to work out the details of.

Throne candidates are trained from a very young age to accept and even anticipate the prospect of being Throned as an ultimate privilege, but that doesn’t mean that they all have the same feelings about it. Ultimately a candidate who is overly reluctant may be reconsidered or passed over for fear they’ll fail as a Throne, so it isn’t impossible to reject the position, though it does leave a stain and can at worst lead to ostracism. In the case of these two, their Thronings and their marriage are something that was preordained for more or less their entire lives, in absentia of any consent. It’s a common situation for Thrones and it’s inevitable some resent it, but many accept it as a necessity and try and make the best of the situation, especially considering the power and privilege of grants. How much a Throne regrets their Throning is something that depends immensely on the hand they happen to be dealt.
