Shake It Off
Modern!Vash x Reader
Tumblr media
A/n: Not a request, but I’ve been wanting to write more AUs and Modern Trigun posts. This is my take on what Vash would do as a boyfriend if the reader had a bad day. I definitely wanted to dedicate this one to @whirlwindimagines Hope you like it Whirl! <3
It was another typical day of working in the office. Clock in, say hi to your coworkers, hype yourself up with coffee, do your tasks, snack break, and just survive at the end of the day. That was until you had an angry client bursting through the door.
“You! I want to speak to your manager right now!” she demanded as you took a deep breath. So much for a normal day. You mentally prepared yourself with what this person was going to throw at you. Clearing your throat, you prepped your customer service voice before engaging with the client.
“Hi, I’m sorry what seems to be the problem?” you asked. Sure enough, the lady was complaining about the service she received. She specifically wanted a refund because the service she got ‘did not meet her standards.’ Apparently she was not happy because she wasn’t seen exactly at 9:00 even though she was seen at 9:02. Furthermore, she felt lied to because the service promised it would be the best she received and that it was adequate at best. So if she had a problem then she would make it everyone’s problem.
“Ma’am I’m sorry to hear about that, but I can’t give you a refund. Our policy states that we can only give a refund if you cancelled your appointment or if we didn’t cover the full service. Which our records show we did give you the full hour,” you explained.
“How dare you talk back to me! Do you know who I am?! I demand that you give me a refund! Where is your manager so I can report you!” she yelled as you just took the brunt of the verbal accusations.
“Ma’am, I don’t make the rules. I just work here, and our manager is currently traveling right now so it might take awhile for them to get a hold of them or even hear back from them,” you tried explaining. But this just made her yell even more about how you were incompetent to work here. You didn’t ask for this, and wondered why you haven’t bothered to turn in your two weeks notice.
Then out of the corner of your eye, you spotted a familiar tall ray of sunshine with blonde hair that you can recognize from a mile away. Vash was passing by your area and saw what was happening. He noticed the scene unfolding and how uncomfortable you were growing with each passing second. Then he started mimicking the lady with the most absurd facial expressions. His mouth moved almost the exact same time as hers while he placed his hands on his hips like she was. If she yelled, he made it twice as funny with him being over the top with his actions. You had to hold back from laughing or even cracking a smile as you pursed your lips as hard as you could.
“HEY! Are you even listening to me?!” the lady snapped at you as she brought your attention back to her. Before you could react, Vash knocked at your door.
“Hi there! What seems to be the problem?” he asked. As the lady proceeded to tell him everything she told you, Vash offered her to follow him as he would handle things. Somehow, Vash just knew how to handle and deescalate these kinds of situations with his can-do personality. As he took the lady away from you while she was talking his ear off, Vash flashed you a wink and a smile before leaving. That was when you remembered, the only reason you hadn’t left this job was because of Vash, your boyfriend.

Could you do an Adaman x reader where the reader asks Adaman to go on a mission with her to find an outbreak of Zorua to study them, but things take a surprising turn when an alpha Galalie attacks them suddenly and the reader shields Adaman and a stray Zoura but ends up nearly freezing and Adaman tries to warm her up?
Tumblr media

Hi! I’m the one who requested the Vash x reader and Wolfwood x reader scenarios of them having nightmares. Thank you so much! You wrote it so beautifully, my heart couldnt handle how cute and sweet it was! 💖
I wanted to request if you could do the same thing but how would Vash and Wolfwood react separately to the reader getting hurt by someone? Bonus if you write for Knives too? The way you write him is so beautiful too 😭💖
I'm so glad you liked it! <3 And I can definitely take a shot at this :) Hope you like it :)
The Guys Being Protective
Vash
Tumblr media
The minute this man finds out you're injured, your well-being is his first priority. He needs to know that you're okay before he decides his next move. If it is a minor injury, like a bruise or no bleeding, he'll probably let out a sigh of relief or give you a quick kiss. Vash is more likely going to caress your face or hold you very close to him without hurting you. He's thankful that you're still breathing and still by his side. Yet, he will remind you to be more careful next time. Vash has already lost many important people in his life, and he's not going to lose you too.
Although, if this injury is serious, Vash's fight-or-flight is going to kick in. He is going to make sure you're out of harm's way and that you get the necessary treatment possible. If anything, he'll try to patch you up with what he has available or rush to find someone to take care of you immediately. Vash is already restless that you're hurt, but would be devastated if your condition got worse.
If you even dare try to brush off your injuries as nothing, you're going to make him feel worse. He's only okay with him doing that to others, not when you do that. He's already beating himself up that you got hurt under his watch and that he didn't prevent it. So be sure to give him lots of cuddles and kisses to reassure him before he spirals. Make sure you tell him that he's not at fault and that you stay by him no matter what he says. He's been through so much, so you comforting him and showering him with kisses should do the trick.
Afterwards, he's going to ask you who did this to you. This man will find and go after whoever hurt you. Because if Vash finds the culprit, this person needs to run for their life. Vash may be Love and Peace, but that goes out the window if anyone hurts the people he loves and cares about, especially when it comes to you. He values you way too much. If he catches the culprit, Vash will make sure they don’t hurt you again. If this person gave you minor injuries, Vash will try to warn them not to do it again. But if that fails or if this person gave you serious wounds, Vash will use his fighting skills or his gun, (no killing obviously) I’m sure of it.
Let me just remind you, this is the same man who took out a good chunk of the Badlands Boys when the people in the Sand Steamer were under attack. Don't forget, this is also the same man who threatened E.G. Mine to disarm the bombs or else he'd make sure he wouldn't get away unscathed. Have you seen Vash angry? He may be babygirl, but he will punch, fight, chokehold, and bite whoever hurts you. Period. Vash will fight for you and your safety until the end of time.
Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Tumblr media
If Wolfwood finds out you got injured there's a bunch of scenarios of what could happen. But they all to lead one thing, him beating the hell out of whoever laid a finger on you. It doesn't matter if you got a bruise, scratch, cut, wound, or mark, this man is going to be worried sick about you. Despite how cold, stoic, or teasing he is, Wolfwood has a big heart for you. He's cares way too much to brush off your injuries. Although after a minute or two, this man will be seething with rage. No one hurts you and walks away it.
Of course he's going to check up on you and see how bad the damage is. If Wolfwood finds out you're lying about the pain or hiding any other injuries, his anger is going to boil over. Not at you, but at the person who did this to you. But, he would rather you tell him honestly. Wolfwood has the biggest soft spot for you and would hate it if you lied about being fine. This man has already lost Livio, and he refuses to lose you too.
This man is invincible, but you're not. He knows you only have one life and he's going to make sure you live it to the fullest with him. Once Wolfwood is done looking you over, he's hunting down the person who did this to you. He's going to give you the: "I just want to talk to the person is all." Which means, "I'm going to beat the living shit out of this person."
No one messes with The Punisher and his loved ones. Just remember that this man carries the heaviest and deadliest cross weapon in No Man's Land. So imagine the beating this person gets once Wolfwood finds them. It doesn't matter how much they run, Wolfwood will find them and make sure they know what happens if they hurt you or anyone else again. Let's face it, Wolfwood is not going to let this person live unless you or Vash stop or convince him.
Once Wolfwood settles things with the person who hurt you, you're not leaving his sight. He's going to be taking care of you to the best of his abilities and making sure you get plenty of rest. This man will need lots of reassurance from you that you're doing okay so he'll be sticking by you a lot more. Probably going to cling onto you with hugs and kisses and giving you his lollipops. Call him Nicholas from time to time in private and this man will be putty in your hands.
Knives Million
Tumblr media
Knives is someone who rarely wears his heart on his sleeve. But if it involves you, he'll only show his feelings in private with you. So imagine what is going on with Knives internally when he finds out someone hurt you. That stoic face? Gone. Composure? Shaken up. His blades? Ready to cut someone up with no hesitation.
If you're a human, Knives knows that humans are delicate and don't live long compared to him. If he sees a cut or a minor scratch, he'll tell you to be mindful of your actions. He knows those kinds of wounds will recover in no time. However, if he even sees a bruise, any deep cuts, or bleeding, Knives is not going to let that pass.
If you're a plant and Knives finds out someone hurt you as mentioned above, there's no stopping him from seeking revenge. Knives will send Con'rad to tend to your wounds. If Con'rad doesn't do a good job of patching you up, the plant will have a long and menacing talk with him alone. If you can bring joy, solace, or even fill the lonely void Knives has within him, of course he's going to hold you in high regard. You are beyond special to him and will make sure no one lays a finger on you. Or rather, make sure no one takes you away from him.
Knives will demand you tell him who did this to you. If it was someone from outside his humble abode or lower ranking men that hurt you, he's going to off them immediately. Plus he never liked most humans, so less people for him to worry about. However, if he finds out it was one of the more important men like Legato, Con'rad, or any other high ranking follower...good luck. He's probably going to make their punishment slow and painful. Knives will reiterate what happens if they dare even hurt you and that they should consider themselves lucky that he's keeping them alive. He’ll probably make an example of someone if he catches them hurting you again.
Once he's done taking care of things, Knives will go check up on you to see how you're doing. He will take time out of his schedule, more importantly his alone time, to see you. Knives needs to know that you're doing okay and healing from your injuries. If you visit him while he's playing piano, he'll beckon you to sit with him and play you a song. If you try to play along with him, you're going to brighten this man's day.

Hey there! I saw your most recent posts and I love how you write! Could I get a request of a sleep deprived reader who stays awake after being ambushed by cops or bandits. And maybe Vash convinces them to rest after seeing how tired they are? Maybe sprinkle a bit of fluff? x
Tumblr media
Zero O' Clock
A/n: oooo I dig this. Also I have been sleep deprived for a couple of days so this hits too close to home :'). I'm always up to write for this ray of sunshine. Plus, we all know this man would do anything to make sure you get the proper rest you need. Happy reading!
For the past several nights, you haven't gotten the best of sleep. Your eyes were starting to dry quickly and not adjust to the sunlight. Your body felt lethargic and a bit tingly every now and then from the lack of sleep. Your usual happy and cheery self was replaced with an irritable mood that even Wolfwood knew not to provoke you. You've been like this ever since the group was ambushed multiple times at night.
You were sleeping underneath the dark vast sky of the desert on top of the sand dunes. Like Vash, you were a light sleeper but you could easily fall asleep after making yourself comfortable. So right when you were about to drift off, you heard multiple foot steps running towards your camping site. Your eyes were wide open from hearing the sound as you got up. You and Vash spotted a group of bandits heading your way. You scrambled to wake the others as Vash and Wolfwood were trying to slow them down with their weapons. Eventually, the whole gang managed to clumsily pile into Meryl's car and as she stepped on the gas pedal. You thought that would be the end of it, but you were horribly wrong.
Two days after that incident, you were getting cozy with your sleeping bag after eating a hearty meal. Right when you dozed off, you only got to enjoy maybe 5 minutes of peace before Vash woke you up as you heard yelling from afar. This time it was bounty hunters closing in on the group with their fleet of Thomas. And so the cycle repeated itself once more as everyone had to wake up and make another getaway. All it took were those two ambushes to shake you to your core. Your mind and body were on edge no matter how much you wanted to sleep. The most you could do was close your eyes and just pass the time until sunrise. While your group was able to go back to their usual sleeping routines, your adrenaline and paranoia grew more each night.
Eventually, Meryl spotted a city nearby with a hotel and managed to get everyone rooms. You thought this would help you with your sleep predicament but to no avail. Another sleepless night of trying to close your eyes. You only managed to look at the ceiling or stare at your window with the moonlight shining. Once the sun's rays landed on your face, you sighed. You tried to look presentable before making your way to the lobby and grabbing something to eat. When you went downstairs you saw Vash was already sitting at one of the tables with his breakfast and another plate next to him. The blonde then noticed your presence as he waved at you.
"Good morning Y/n! I got you a plate!" he greeted as you couldn't help but smile at him. He constantly thinks about others and goes the extra mile what being told. His benevolent and cheery self always made you have faith in humanity once more when things seem bleak. Vash just had a natural charm that drew people to him, including you.
"Morning to you too Vash. I appreciate how thoughtful you are. Are the others joining us?" you asked as you took a seat next to him. It was moments like this you learned to appreciate Vash's company. It wasn't every day you get to enjoy moments like this with him where you can be comfortable and enjoy a meal together.
"Meryl and Roberto are out getting fuel for the car. Wolfwood is out and about probably getting some of his usual items. So it's just us here," he explained as you took a bite of your food and looked at him. So you were one of the lasts to wake up. Once he was done talking, he went to go put away his plate and came back to his seat.
"So what about you, what are your plans?" he asked giving you his full attention.
"I figured I'd grab a couple of things in town or see if anyone needs help before we head out to our next destination. What about you? I thought you'd be helping one of the townspeople by now," you spoke. You didn't want to be a burden, especially with moody you were with Roberto and Wolfwood. You didn't mean to, and thought you would make it up to them somehow.
"Yeah about that, something else came up," Vash vaguely answered as you cocked an eyebrow at him. Vash having a higher priority that was more important than helping civilians? You wondered what he was up to as you managed to finish eating.
"Oh, and what would that be?" you asked staring at him. You then saw his glasses hide his eyes with those oranges reflective shades. You got a glimpse of your reflection and felt a bit unnerved. Anytime his glasses did that, you knew the blonde was up to something.
"Y/n, how have you been feeling lately?" he asked as he slightly scooted closer to you. You were slightly caught off guard as you bit your lip.
"I'm peachy as ever, why?" you asked trying to convince him with your tone. You were catching on to his question, and the last thing you wanted to do was make him worry about you. He already carried a large burden on his shoulders, the last thing you wanted was to add to that burden. Vash's eyebrows furrowed as you were starting to grow tense from how close he was to you.
"Y/n, you don't have to pretend with me. I noticed you've been acting different with the others. You've also been quiet the past couple of days. I don't know what's going on, but you can talk to me. I just want to know if you're okay," Vash replied as you looked away. So he noticed your behavior too. You felt guilty that you made him worry. You debated on how to answer him as you bit your lip once more. You snuck a glance at him once more and you saw his blue eyes staring right at your e/c eyes. His eyes were filled with concern, yet he showed a small sad smile. It was almost as if he looked like he was giving you the puppy face which pulled your heart strings.
"Okay, fine I'll tell you. I'm not okay. I've been having a hard time sleeping lately. It's why I've been a little irritable and distant lately. I've been trying to sleep but nothing works. Doesn't matter if I sleep early, take a hot shower, or have a heavy meal, I keep staying up late," you caved in. Vash listened and rested his chin on the palm of his hands. He let you talk as he listened, but you could tell his worried expression grew.
"When did you first start having trouble sleeping?" Vash questioned. You told him how you first noticed since the ambushes started. It was specifically after the second one was when you were up all night. You also mentioned how you didn't want to burden anyone with your problems since they were nothing compared to what everyone else was facing.
"Y/n, you mean to tell me it's been going on ever since that day?" he asked once more as you sheepishly nodded.
"Were you able to sleep last night?" he continued as you shook your head.
"Are you nervous that it's going to happen again?" he asked.
"I don't know, maybe," you said as you wondered too. Vash looked deep in thought as you stared at him feeling vulnerable with the man you adored. Then Vash looked at you and put his human hand over yours as this small gesture caught you completely off guard with your heart racing.
"Well that settles it, you're going to sleep in for the day," he chimed as you looked at him with complete shock. Before you could say anything, he grabbed your hand and led you back to your room. You couldn't get over how warm his hand was as your face was flustered. Sure you've brushed shoulders briefly with him, but him holding your hand for this long? Were you hallucinating from the lack of sleep?
He managed to get a hold of your room key and led you inside before he closed the door behind him.
"You really want me to sleep in? I feel bad Vash," you told him as he sighed.
"Y/n, you haven't slept in days. Besides, you can't help others if you're not helping yourself first. I know the others will understand," he pointed out as you gave in. You knew he was right as you made your way to your bed and laid down. Vash walked up to you and flashed you a quick smile as you hid your face under the covers.
"Now rest up, and don't even think about sneaking out. I'll be guarding the door," he warned as you pouted. He knew you too well. What shook you more was that he was pulling up a chair next to the bed as you felt your cheeks and ears turning red.
"Vash, what are you doing?" you asked him.
"Making sure you don't escape and actually go to sleep," he answered like it was no big deal.
"Y-you're really going to stay here with me while I try to sleep?" you asked once more as you emphasized the sleep part. You needed to be sure as he nodded his head with no hesitation. You heart rate was becoming erratic as your mind was racing.
"I think maybe you've been having trouble sleeping since you feel like you're expecting something to happen like the ambushes. I figured maybe you'd relax if you knew someone was here to watch over you while you sleep. It could help remove the stress," Vash explained as you gave it some thought. At this point, you were running out of options and you were willing to try anything at this point.
"Hey Vash, why are you doing all of this for me? You could be helping others like you usually do when we're at different cities," you asked out of curiosity.
"Well it's because I care about you. You're important to me and the group. The last thing I want is for something to happen to you when we're out traveling," he explained. Thankfully the blanket was covering part of your face as your blush grew a deeper color. Vash really made you feel all sorts of things. Your mind kept replaying his answer as you tried to get comfortable.
"Thanks Vash, I appreciate you doing this," you commented as you tried to focus on sleeping.
"Of course, I'm always happy to help. If something ever bothers you, know that I'm here Y/n," he reassured as you gave him a small smile. As you closed your eyes, you heard Vash humming a song. It was a beautiful melody that was ever so soothing. You turned your head towards Vash again and opened your eyes. You knew Vash had an alluring voice, but for him to carry a tune? He continued to surprise you more and more each day.
"What song is that?" you asked him as he perked up.
"It's something I used to sing to myself whenever I got scared or anxious. It always helps calm me down. I'm sorry, is it bothering you?" he spoke as you shook your head.
"No, I like it. It's a beautiful melody," you answered with a slight yawn. It was harder to keep your eyes open the more Vash kept humming. Your breathing was finally slowing as you hadn't felt this relaxed in awhile.
"Sleep well Y/n, I'll be right here," Vash commented as you dozed off with a smile. He continued to quietly sing until he was sure you were fast asleep. After 30 minutes, Vash went up to you and adjusted the covers as he saw you shiver a bit. He then gave a quick kiss to your head and sat back down as he watched fondly over you. It wasn’t until later on he decided to doze off for the day.
Bonus:
Wolfwood was looking around for you and Vash as he noticed how quiet it was around town. Usually there would be some commotion going off right now. It wasn’t until he saw a glimpse of Vash dragging you into your room and then putting the “Do not Disturb” sign out the door.
“Well, that wasn’t on my bingo card. But good for them,” Wolfwood whistled to himself with a smirk.

The Only Time I Feel Safe
Tumblr media
A/n: Vash x reader, another request from a friend of mine! Enjoy! Here is Part 2
You were trained to be a spy and gather intel growing up. You were the best at what you did, but it came with a price. You trained under the best spy, except every mistake you made he punished severely. Each punishment would grow progressively worse until you perfected your technique. Eventually it grew to be too much and you escaped his clutches. Now you were on the run just traveling to be far away from your mentor as much as possible. As a result,  you didn’t liked being touched, especially by men. Even if it was a tap on the shoulder or a hand on your shoulder, you felt disgusted. No one was allowed to touch you unless you said so. You were tired of getting hurt, so you put up your walls to make sure no one would hurt you again.
You managed to stumble upon Meryl and Roberto. They asked for your help on finding “Vash the Stampede.” You agreed to help so long as you could join them and that they met your conditions on the no touch rules. When you did find him, you let Meryl handle him. Even though Vash looked harmless, you didn’t risk letting your guard down.
“So you’re Vash the Stampede?” Meryl asked.
“Oh you know little old me?” he asked.
“Only because of y/n,” Roberto pointed to you.
“Hey y/n, nice to meet-” Vash was extending his hand to you until you immediately backed away as your whole body tensed. You made yourself look bigger and got into a defensive stance. Vash looked confused until Meryl spoke up.
“Sorry, y/n doesn’t like it when people come too close. It’s not just you,” she explained as Vash looked at you with his sad blue eyes while you sneered at him with your e/c eyes.
~
After seeing him help the people of Jeneora, you figured you could keep him at an arm’s distance. Even though Vash was a wanted criminal, you still made sure to throw off police or anyone that was hunting him. When you first threw off the cops, Vash was laying low at the bar.
“Hey! Thanks for helping me out there y/n!” Vash came up to you but stopped himself from getting close.
“It’s no big deal, you’re not the only one trying to avoid cops,” you said with your arm’s crossed.
“Oh you too?” he asked.
“I’ve got my reasons,” you replied.
“Well I got time. We can relax at the bar,” Vash offered. You thought about it for awhile and figured you’d tell a little more about yourself. If you were going to tag along with this group you might as well start talking.
“Okay, but I pick the table and you sit across from me,” you agreed as Vash let you walk in.
~*~
You were traveling through the desert after leaving Jeneora. After the incident, Vash was at the lowest you’ve seen him. He didn’t really talk much or sleep throughout the drive. Meryl had to stop after driving too long, so it was your first night spending the night in the dunes. When you camped, you noticed Vash wasn’t eating his food. By the time you all went to bed, you spent about an hour just staring at the sky until you turned to Vash’s direction.
“I know you’re awake,” you spoke.
“How can you tell?” he asked.
“You didn’t eat so I can hear your stomach grumbling,” you pointed out.
Vash let out a dry chuckle as he finally turned to you.
“You got me, so why are you awake?” he asked.
“It takes awhile for me to sleep properly. Even if I do, I wake up at the slightest sound because of how I was brought up,” you explained.
“That bad?” he asked as you nodded.
“Even though I’m away from my mentor, my body can’t relax if I sleep. I keep thinking something will happen,” you divulged further. Vash looked at you with those eyes again as you sighed.
“Listen, what I’m trying to say is...what happened back there wasn’t your fault. I know you wanted to help people, but you did what you could,” you started. You could see Vash was starting to tear up. You reached into your pocket and to grab something that would help. You scooted closer to Vash and offered him your handkerchief.
“Here, for your tears,” you offered. Vash looked at you like you grew another head.
“Yes, you can take it. I don’t mind it,” you reasoned. He then grabbed the cloth from you. You felt his fingertips brush yours briefly. You didn’t feel as disgusted when he did this. In fact, his touch was light as a feather. You then looked at him wiping away his tears as you felt for him. He really cared and you knew how it felt when things didn’t turn out well.
“You can keep it for now. Just get some rest and please eat something. You can’t help people out on an empty stomach,” you finished as you turned away.
~
You were camping out by the desert dunes once more. You gained another new member, Wolfwood. He was an unorthodox priest to say the least, but you were thankful to have him as he practically destroyed the worm you were all trapped in. You were eating worm meat, and you noticed Vash was finally eating his portion. An unknowing smile made your way while you were eating. Once everyone was falling asleep, you got comfy with your sleeping bag and looked at Vash. He was still up and  was staring at the stars. You scooted yourself quietly towards him before you said anything.
“So you finally got your appetite back,” you spoke as Vash slightly jumped.
“That’s right you don’t sleep right away,” Vash chuckled as you held back a laugh.
“Yeah, so what gives? Last night you were moping and now you’re eating again like nothing happened,” you asked.
“It’s what you and Wolfwood said. I have to value my life a bit more if I want to help out people. Thanks for putting up with me, I kinda get lost in my thoughts sometimes,” Vash answered as he gave you a cheeky smile.
You don’t know what came over you, but you slowly raised your hand towards him. You gently put your hand on his shoulder as Vash looked at you like Wolfwood did when Meryl hit him with the car.
“It’s great to have your cheery self back,” you commented as you tried to hide your small smile.
“You...you touched my shoulder,” he said.
“Don’t get used to it. I felt like you needed it earlier,” you mentioned as you retracted your hand back. Vash chuckled at your actions as he kept his eyes on you.
“So does this mean you’re a little more comfortable with me?” he asked with his face lit up,
“Sure, but you need to ask for permission on touching me okay?” you argued.
“So would it be okay if we shook hands?” Vash asked with his human hand reaching out to you. Once you heard him you looked at him with one of your eyebrows raised.
“We didn’t get to introduce each other properly,” he explained with a sheepish smile. You were a bit hesitant at first, but you figured it wouldn’t hurt.
“Sure,” you gave in as you extended your hand to his. He held your hand and shook it delicately.
“Vash, glad to have you traveling with us,” he said.
“Y/n, glad to be tagging along,” you replied.
~
You caught word of another nearby town to explore. It wasn’t until Vash led you to a windmill town that was in horrible shape. You encountered an overgrown man chasing after Vash and ran to a safe place with Roberto and Meryl. In the end, Vash and Wolfwood got into an argument and weren’t speaking to each other. You found Vash sitting in a corner near one of the buildings. You walked towards him and sat next to him.
“So you and Wolfwood aren’t talking now?” you asked.
“It’s a long story,” he sighed.
“I’m here to listen,” you offered as you looked at him. Vash explained how that man was once a kid Vash knew. He told you about the promise he made to the kid and what happened. Then, Vash explained how Rollo did recognize him, but Wolfwood landed the final blow. When you took everything in, you gathered your thoughts before speaking again.
“Your feelings are valid. Honestly it’s hard to tell what was the right thing to do. But Rollo recognized you for a bit. I think a part of him might have been happy you came back. But Vash, you do understand we can only do so much right? As much as we want to help do something, we all have our limitations. Like I said earlier, you did what you can,” you answered. You then heard Vash starting to sniffle. You could only do so much, but at least he was expressing his emotions and not bottling it in.
“Y/n? Is it okay if I get a pat on the shoulder?” he asked with his voice cracking.
You scooted closer to him and patted his back. He cared a lot, but that meant he carried a heavy burden with his emotions. While you were patting him, you slowly gave him a side hug. The guy desperately needed it. You felt his body stiffen. Then he relaxed and pulled you closer as he cried it out.
~
You were camping out in the desert once more. Everyone practically ate in silence and fell asleep. Except you did try to sleep but you had a nightmare. You dreamt that your mentor came after you with a vengeance. When you dreamt that he grabbed you by the shoulder you jolted awake with a small scream. You covered your mouth to keep quiet so you wouldn’t wake anyone up. You were sweating profusely as your heart was racing.
“It’s just a dream, it’s just a dream, he doesn’t know where you are,” you tried telling yourself quietly. You then heard someone move and stilled yourself. You cursed for making too much noise.
“Hey are you okay y/n?” A soft voice asked. It was Vash and you saw the concern in his vibrant blue eyes.
“Did I wake you up?” You asked.
“No, I was still awake, but it sounded like you had a nightmare,” he replied.
“Yeah, I dreamt about my mentor finding me. It felt too real,” you explained as you tried to wipe off the night sweat.
“I’m sorry to hear, but know that we’re pretty far from any towns nearby. So you’re safe,” he reassured you. You took a deep breathe and nodded. That’s right he still hasn’t found you, so you’re fine for now. You were about to go back to sleep but you felt the cold night breeze hit you. You tried to pass it off but it was bothering you.
“Are you cold?” Vash asked.
“It’s fine, I’ll find a way to sleep,” you reassured him, not wanting to bother Vash anymore.
“You know you can scoot closer to me? I run a lot warmer than most people,” he offered. His offer was too tempting for you. You needed your energy, and decided to swallow your pride. You scooted closer to his left side and once you were close to his prosthetic arm, you felt the warmth he was emitting. You practically didn’t feel cold anymore. Your muscles relaxed the minute you felt the heat as you got comfortable.
“See? I told you,” Vashed smiled as you were now lying next to him.
“Have you always been this warm?” You asked.
“For as long as I could remember,” he chuckled as you felt your eyes get heavy from his warmth.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything while you sleep,” he reassured as you let out a small yawn.
“Okay, goodnight Vash,” you softly muttered before dozing off. And that was one of the few nights you had actually slept well.
~
You traveled to another town nearby that had a decent amount of people. The group split up to gather resources while you were gathering intel until you stopped to see a group of bandits wandering around the city. You followed them closely and saw they had a poster of your face.
“Anyone see this person? They’re wanted alive at all costs! If you know, the reward is 30,000 double dollars,” one of them said.
Your eyes widened as you quietly took a step back. You looked for the nearest crowd and ran through it. Was your mentor that desperate to find you?
“Hey! Over there!” Someone shouted as your anxiety spiked. Who spotted you? It didn’t matter, you needed to run. You dodged and ran through multiple objects to throw them off your trail but you were still being followed. You were desperate and ran more until you took another turn but it led to a dead end.
“Looks like you ran out of luck there!” A voice called out. You turned to see the group of bandits closing in on you slowly.
“There’s nowhere else to hide. You’re feisty, but you’re at the end of the line. It’s time you come with us so we can get that reward,” another one of them spoke. You were on edge and kept taking a step back until your back hit the wall. The group walked closer as their hands were reaching out to you.
“Stay back! Get away from me!” You pleaded as your mind was screaming. This is not how you wanted things to end. You then heard a few punches. The group stopped and looked back to see someone was beating up the members.
“Aye! What are you doing?!” One of the men shouted. You could see their group dwindling in numbers as you stood frozen. You couldn’t move as you were still surrounded. You couldn’t get a good look until you saw a familiar blonde hair and red coat. Vash beat up the last man in front of you as you stared at him.
“Y/n! There you are! Are you okay? Are you hurt?” He asked you as you exhaled deeply. You didn’t even know you were holding your breathe until now. Your body trembled as you walked to him.
“Vash…how did you find me?” You asked.
“I noticed the group running after someone. Then I found your poster and followed them. You’re safe now,” he explained as you felt your eyes tearing up.
“Hey don’t cry, you’re okay now,” Vash reassured as he slowly brought his hand up to your face and wiped away a few of your tears.
~
The group camped out again in the desert after what happened. They couldn’t afford to risk staying in a motel sadly. You apologized for what happened even though the group didn’t blame you. After eating your meal, you tried to fall asleep but your mind kept replaying the incident.
“Can’t sleep?” Vash asked.
You turned to him and nodded as he let out a small sigh.
“What’s on your mind?” He questioned.
“I can’t stop thinking about what happened earlier. If you didn’t show up, I wouldn’t be here right now. Now that my mentor is after me, I can’t exactly show my face or stay at the hotel earlier,” you explained.
“Hey, it’s not your fault. None of us knew this would have happened. Right now, we’re away from that group and we’re safe,” Vash said as you looked at him.
“Hey Vash, is it okay if I sleep next to you? I’m cold,” you requested. He then patted his left side as you made your way to him. You missed the warmth and made yourself cozy.
“Comfy?” He asked.
“Yes, thank you. Um, actually can I ask for one more thing?” You questioned.
“Yeah what is it?” He asked.
You slowly gave him a hug that caught him off guard.
“Thanks for earlier. I feel safer with you after what you did,” you told him. You then felt his other arm wrap around your shoulder as he gave you a small squeeze.
“I’m always happy to help. I’ll make sure I can keep you safe when we travel,” he replied with a fond smile. You smiled back at him and then felt your eyelids getting heavy. You were drifting off, but wished him a goodnight. Once you dozed off, you didn’t feel the small kiss Vash gave you on your head as he watched your sleeping figure and then fell asleep right after.

Miamochi!
Your Vash x reader writings are the cutest! Thank you for giving us such good content! I hope you’re doing well! Could you do a Vash x reader where y/n is trying to tend to Vash’s wounds and he refuses to because he’s self-conscious about his scars. So the reader resorts to showing they’re scars in the hopes of getting him to trust them? I seriously hope this makes sense and that you’re comfortable with it!
anyways I love your blog! Xx💖
A/n: Thank you so much for liking my content! And the way I put so much time into this request and using my old nursing skills into this. Hope you like it!

Scars to Your Beautiful
Tumblr media
"Come on Y/n, I'm fine really," Vash insisted.
"Vash, you were shot at not too long ago, you're not fine!" you argued.
"You don't need to worry, I can take care of it," he persisted.
"Vash, I'm the medic in this group and you're bleeding from the back. Just please let me patch you up!" you asserted yourself.
You hardly ever argued with Vash, but when you did it was a battle of two stubborn mules. Neither of you were willing to budge or change your mind. All this happened because the military police stumbled upon your group when you were looking for some extra supplies for your next trip. You managed to lose them, but Vash ended up getting shot twice. One from the back and one at the front. Thankfully they weren't near his vital organs, but that didn't stop you from panicking. You immediately dragged him back to the hotel and into your room where you had him sit on your bed while your first aid kit was on the chair across from him. You managed to get him to remove his red jacket, but he refused to let you treat him.
"Y/n, please I can take care of myself," Vash spoke again as you pouted.
"Vash, last time you bandaged your wound, it didn't properly close because you didn't rest or clean it before wrapping it up," you pointed out. Vash flinched when you mentioned the incident before and he knew you were right about that.
"Still, I can take care of it now," Vash waved it off.
"Even the wound on your back?" you asked as Vash stiffened. You got him again, and you wondered what excuse he would throw at you this time. You sighed at how much he was refusing your help. If it was the other way around, he would make sure you get treated. But with him, you wondered why he was so set on not letting you help. You then placed your first aid kit on the floor and sat on the chair across from him.
"Vash…why won't you let me patch you up? Do you not trust me?" you questioned with a bit of hurt evident in your tone. He knows he's seen you take care of civilians who were injured and take care of Wolfwood's cuts and scratches from fights. Everyone knew you were more than capable of being a medic, but why was the one person you deeply cared for refusing your help? You then felt a hand on your shoulder and looked at Vash. You could tell his face was conflicted with many emotions, but the one that was more evident was guilt. His blue eyes locked into your caring e/c eyes. You could tell he was struggling to say something and finding the words to tell you. His mouth slightly opening, closing, and then biting his lip.
"Y/n, I- I understand you want to help. I trust you, it's just that...it's complicated," he managed to utter out as he looked away from you at the last part. He withdrew his prosthetic arm and folded his arms, almost as if he was holding himself. You cocked an eyebrow at his answer and his body language. Just what was so complicated about you trying to take care of him. You then tried to reach your arm out to Vash slowly and rested on his right shoulder. The moment your hand touched his shoulder, he flinched. This caught you off guard, since Vash was usually physically expressive around you. He would always take the chance to rest his arm around your shoulder or grab your hand to show you something he was excited about. So seeing him react like this with you was strange.
You retracted your arm back as Vash looked at you with guilt once more. It looked like he wanted to reach out to you with his flesh hand, but stopped midway. You thought about how he was acting towards you today, and when you touched his shoulder, you felt something odd on his shoulder that wasn't his prosthetic or the texture of his clothing. You decided to ask one more question.
"Vash, are you refusing my help because you're afraid of me seeing something?" you asked. Vash then froze and still looked away from you. But he wasn't denying your assumption. Furthermore, him turning his body away from you and biting his lip reinforced that idea. You had an idea why Vash might be hesitant with you treating him. If your hunch was right, you had one option on how he might let you, but it would mean getting personal with Vash. You stood up from your chair and took a deep breath. This caught Vash's attention as he was wondering what you were planning to do.
You walked towards your hotel door and double locked the entrance. You then turned to Vash and walked back to him. You then looked down at your jacket. You slowly started unzipping it to where it showed your sleeveless top. Then, you slowly lifted your top to show your midriff. Once Vash saw you lifting your top, he immediately turned red and covered his face.
"Y/n! W-what are you?" Vash asked. Before he could finish asking his question, he spotted something he never thought he'd see. On the side of your abdominal area was a long and slightly thick horizontal scar on your left side. On the lower right side looked to be several smaller but thicker scars. You didn't look up, but you could already hear the questions Vash was about to ask you.
"I had these for a long time now. I got most of them from being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Some were from escaping fights and others were from trying to protect myself. I didn't have any money to get the help needed. And since no one told me how to properly take care of my wounds, they didn't heal properly. I hated how much they stood out on my body that I kept picking at them," you explained. You never really showed anyone your scars for this reason, but you figured you would show Vash. Hopefully this would convince him on letting you take care of him. You then took off your jacket that revealed the top portion of your top. On your right shoulder, were three large scars that looked like something clawed at you.
"These scars are the reason I became a medic. I want to help people as much as I can and give them an option to be treated. Or at least prevent them from making the same mistakes I did. These things really haven't been the best towards my self-esteem," you dryly chuckled as you pulled down your top. Then you looked at Vash who just stared at you with those blue eyes of his. He wasn't saying anything, and the silence was agonizing. Maybe you overstepped your boundaries.
"Sorry, that was TMI. Just forget about it," you apologized while getting ready to bolt out of the room.
"Y/n wait," Vash called out as he grabbed your hand. You looked back at him to see his eyes filled with more mixed emotions. His grip on you wasn't tight, but it was firm enough to let you know he wanted you to stay. He walked you back to the bed as he sat down while you stood up.
"You have no reason to apologize. If anything I should...here," Vash started talking. He then let go of your hand as he started taking off his black top. Your eyes landed on his chest and your hunch was correct. There were large scars, metal plating, and seams covering most of his body. There were so many past injuries that you could tell he got from either falling, blunt trauma, or deep cuts from some kind of weapon. You knew Vash always ended up in dangerous situations, but what you saw showed how much hell he actually went through during his travels.
"Well this is a bit embarrassing, huh?" Vash sheepishly chuckled with that fake smile he flashed you. Even now he was trying to make light of the situation. You took a seat on the chair across from him and grabbed both of his hands. He looked at you as you squeezed both of his hands while rubbing small circles on them.
"Vash...that was really brave of you to do that. I know that wasn't easy to do, but thank you. I promise I'll make this quick," you thanked him as you began to work. You told Vash to turn around so you could face his back and handed him a clean cloth and instructed him to press it on his wound at the front. You needed to make sure to stop the bleeding as soon as possible. Once that was done, you readied the alcohol solution you carried and dabbed it on a few cotton balls.
"This might sting, but I'm just disinfecting the wound," you warned Vash.
"No worries, I trust you," Vash said quietly but flashed you a reassuring small smile. You smiled at him as well, but you braced yourself with what you were going to do next. Vash flinched once you started dabbing the cotton balls on the wound. You muttered a sorry to the blonde, but he kept brushing it off. Soon you added some antibiotic ointment and dressed the wound properly. Once you placed the bandage on him, you softly pressed it onto this skin and could feel Vash stiffen. Your heart sunk, as you knew how hard it was being vulnerable and having your scars exposed like this. You recognized the types of scars he had and how he might have gotten them. To think he hid them so well from everyone blew your mind.
You then asked him to face you so you could take care of the other wound at the front. This time his wound was located on the front side of his abdomen. Thankfully it was a thin bullet graze. As you worked, you could feel Vash's eyes on you. You figured he had a lot on his mind, especially after making yourselves both vulnerable.
"Thanks for letting me do this. I know this isn't easy for you. But I wanted to make sure you were okay and were taken care of properly. You've always done a lot for me, and I wanted to return the favor," you started but Vash stayed quiet.
"After seeing your scars, I realized two things about you. One, you care so much for people. You're selfless and willing to put your life on the line for them, and it just goes to show much you're willing to protect those in need," you spoke as you were cleaning his wound.
"The second, I still think you're beautiful inside and out," you added as you started bandaging his wound. You could feel Vash's eyes boring a hole through your head as you let out a soft smile.
"I know with my scars, I felt uncomfortable in my own skin for the longest time. So it took a lot for me to show my scars today, but I'm happy I did. We both took a risk today and we got to learn more about each other. I remember one of the doctors I was training under telling me that scars can tell a lot about a person and hold stories about a person's past. So after seeing your scars, I realized I'm not the only one with scars. Your scars show how much you look out for others, and that's what makes you Vash. I don't think any less of you. In fact, I admire you a lot more after today," you finished as you slightly brushed your finger against one of his scars.
You poured your heart out to him. He needed to know that after being so vulnerable with you on so many levels. You then started putting away your kit and got up from your seat ready to take your leave.
"I'm all done now. I'll make sure to change out the bandages once in awhile so they can heal properly," you told him. Before you could leave, you felt your top being tugged from behind. You turned around to see Vash looking at you with a face that said don't go yet. He walked up towards you with his eyes locked onto yours.
"Did you mean all that?" he asked as you nodded your head. He then pulled you towards him and held you in a tight embrace. Your eyes widened at the sudden action and immediately grew flustered after realizing your face was pressed against his bare chest. A red blush was plastered over your cheeks as your heart was becoming erratic.
"I'm sorry I was trying to push you away earlier, and that I made you do something uncomfortable because of me. But thank you for putting up with me and taking care of my injuries. It makes me happy that you don't think any less of me after seeing me like this. Also, after seeing your scars...I still think you're the most stunning person I've ever met. I'm glad to have you stick by me," Vash added as you looked up to see him give you a genuine smile that you knew too well with his eyes staring fondly at you.
"You think I'm stunning?" you asked as your face grew hot. You knew Vash was always sincere about his feelings towards others, but you wanted to hear it from him again just to be sure.
"Of course I do. It's another reason I like you so much," Vash replied as you had to do a double take. Vash chuckled at your actions as you tried to process what he said.
"Did I hear that right? You like me too?" you asked again as Vash brought his human hand to caress your face.
"I like you Y/n. I always have, and I can prove it if you let me," he said as you saw a pink blush rest on his cheeks.
"Prove it," you told him. Vash then smiled and gave you soft kiss on your lips as you closed your eyes. You could feel how gentle he was towards you with this simple but powerful action alone. You finally hugged him back as your hand rested on his side, while his prosthetic arm held the small of your back. Once Vash pulled away, you looked at him to see he was staring at you lovingly.
"How was that?" he asked as you still couldn't believe that he actually kissed you.
"Did I take your breath away?" he asked as you started laughing.
"You're lucky I like you a lot," you answered as you planted a tender kiss on his lips. When you parted again, you looked at Vash who pulled you in for a tigther hug.
"Can we stay like this for a little longer?" he asked. After everything that happened today, how could you possibly say no to him?

The Way You Laugh
You had yet to learn why the universe works in mysterious ways. But it paired you with the most chaotic group of people you could imagine. It was another typical morning as you sat with Meryl and Wolfwood, where they were bickering about some minuscule topic. Roberto was finishing his breakfast with a sip from his flask. Meanwhile, you enjoyed the warm cup of coffee as much as possible and braced yourself for what today would throw at you. You traveled wherever the wind blew and wanted to see the world outside your hometown. You had seen too many things growing up and needed to escape the crime, abuse, and chaos the police inflicted on your small town. After a rough couple days of traveling under the hot sun through the desert, you tagged along with this group after they found you. Thankfully everyone was nice enough to let you travel and gave you much needed space.
"Morning! Y/n! Want to hear what the coffee said to the other coffee before their night out?" All but one person exactly.
"Morning Vash, and what did they say?" you asked.
"Let's stir up some trouble!" Vash answered as you heard a collective groan and some dry chuckles from the group. You stared at Vash with his goofy grin as you took a deep sip of your coffee.
"Interesting," you told him flatly as he chuckled at his joke. I mean someone had to.
For some reason, the universe decided to put Vash into your life. Since you offered to help buy supplies, cook meals, and fend off enemies for the group, the group enjoyed having you. That also meant Vash would stay by your side as he wanted to know more about you. He was such a ray of sunshine and practically made it his mission to spread that warmth and joy to others. Meanwhile, you were reserved, aloof, and put people at arm's length after growing up in such a harsh environment.
You had a heart, but with how rough No Man's Land was you had to be cautious. Yet, you managed to attract someone like Vash who always kept coming back to you no matter how much you pushed him away. In fact, despite how much you closed people off, you bonded with Vash one night after telling him about your troubling past. After the both of you shared some personal stories, you managed to crack a smile at him that he will never forget. If anything, he made it his personal mission to know you better and make you laugh after that night.
"Come on blondie, enough with the jokes. It's been a week already," Roberto begged.
"No can do! I'm just getting started!" Vash replied. Although Vash threw some of the corniest jokes you've heard, it didn't bother you. You wanted to see how far he would go to make you laugh. Plus, each joke he told after the 3rd day was getting better.
After breakfast, your group traveled through the desert to the next city. You sat in the middle of Vash and Wolfwood while Meryl drove with Roberto in the passenger seat. It was going to be another long drive of watching endless sand and dunes.
"Hey Y/n, want to hear a desert joke?" Vash asked you as you looked at him.
"Vash no!" Roberto begged, but you gestured at Vash to continue.
"Nah, you're right. It's too dry," he replied as you rolled your eyes at the joke. Another collective groan was let out while Meryl laughed.
"Okay, I got a better one!" Vash chimed in. This time you turned around to face Vash with an amused smirk. Meanwhile, Wolfwood turned to look out the window.
"What did one sand dune say to the other sand dune?" he asked. You pondered the question as you tried to figure out what kind of pun this would be.
"I will never desert you," he replied. Okay that one wasn't too bad compared to the other one. Even Wolfwood didn't groan this time as he raised an eyebrow.
"Not bad," you told Vash. You could see in his blue eyes that he was determined to find a joke that would get you to laugh. Meanwhile, Roberto threatened to stop the van if Vash continued.
Once you entered the city, you all agreed to split up. Roberto and Wolfwood would rest at the bar, Meryl would look into places to stay, while you and Vash would look around to gather supplies. Thankfully the city didn't have too many people or police wandering around.
As you were walking, one paper caught your eye. It was a wanted poster but it looked cartoonish. You couldn’t make out the name as it was torn from the top, but it looked silly. Nonetheless, you had to show this to Vash.
"Hey Vash, take a look at this!" The blonde perked up at his name and walked towards you. Once he saw the poster, he cringed.
"Are they seriously still using this picture of me?!" he asked as you stared back at the picture.
"Wait, you mean to tell me this is you? This looks nothing like you," you pointed at the poster.
"Funny story about that," he began, but before he could explain, he stopped midway. It looked like he hatched an idea as his glasses glinted at the sun's rays.
"Hey Y/n, you want to know how Meryl, Roberto, and I met?" he asked. You had no idea where this was going but you nodded your head. He then grabbed your hand and flashed you a smirk.
"Follow me," he replied a smirk.
~*~
Vash dragged you to the bar and told you to wait outside. Half of you was curious about what Vash was scheming, while the other half was afraid to find out. Eventually, Meryl came out from the bar and looked at you.
"I can't believe I'm doing this," she muttered, motioning you to follow her. She took you to a place near the outskirts of the city. What you saw next gave you a mini heart attack. You saw some makeshift metal heap where Roberto seemed to be tying up Vash upside down.
“What the heck is going on?!” You asked, bewildered at the sight before you.
“He’s the one that asked for it. I’m just following his weird orders. Besides, you wanted to know how we met him. Well, there you have it,” Roberto explained as he finished securing the rope and left. You were beyond confused at what was happening. How could Vash let Roberto do that to him? Was this some kind of sick joke? Why wasn't anyone helping him down?
Next thing you knew, Vash let out the most absurd evil laugh you've ever heard. The way his glasses glinted to where you couldn't see his eyes made him look cartoonishly mischievous. The way he slowly turned as he laughed added another layer to this odd side of your companion. Then it hit you, all this was because you mentioned that poster. You held the ripped paper up and compared it to Vash once more. He practically matched the cartoonish picture on the poster. From the "comically evil" looking face, glasses, and hair, he nailed the look perfectly. The more you looked at him, the more you snickered.
Pffft!
You were trying to stifle your laugh with your hand, but every time you looked at Vash the harder it was to control it. Finally, you burst into fits of laughter as you held your sides. How Vash looked and laughed was the funniest thing you've seen in a long time. You knew Vash was silly, but this was another level of him being over the top. Every time you snuck a glance at him, you couldn't help but laugh once more.
AHAHAHAHA!
Vash immediately stopped laughing as he heard the sound of laughter fill his ears. Did his ears deceive him? He looked at Meryl who was just as shocked at what she was witnessing. Vash begged her to turn him around so he could see what was happening. He needed to know if what he was hearing was true. Once she did, his eyes started to gleam once his eyes landed at the figure before him. The breath he was holding in was finally let go as Vash stared in awe at you. His blue eyes widened and his eyebrows were raised at you laughing your guts out. Slowly but surely, a huge smile crept on his face as he felt a huge sense of accomplishment. Maybe it was the blood rushing to his head, but Vash was giddy with joy. Finally, all that hard work of throwing jokes at you paid off.
"You're laughing," Vash stated instead of asked. He wanted to see if you would deny this, but you happily nodded at him.
"Of course I am! The way you look, and your laugh, it's hilarious! I can't believe this is how you met Meryl and Roberto," you tried to answer mid-laugh. Vash couldn't help but chuckle at your answer as he understood what finally got you to laugh. Meryl on the other hand was just confused at what she witnessed.
"Both of you are such weirdos. I'm outta here," Meryl commented as she took her leave.
"Wait! Don't leave me hanging here again friend!" Vash begged. You then laughed even harder at his comment. The desperation and hysteria in his voice made you laugh harder. On top of it all, his facial expression was priceless. If he kept it up, your face was going to hurt from laughing this hard.
"Need a hand space cowboy?" you asked as you managed to calm your hearty laugh into small giggles.
“Pretty please?” He replied. You simply grinned as his eyes widened at what you asked him.
“Wait...did you? You cracked a joke!” He pointed out as you freed him from being tied up.
"Yeah, you're not the only one who can crack jokes too you know?" you smirked after helping Vash stand up. After making sure Vash could walk and stand on his own, you took a step back and kept smirking at him as Vash had multiple questions for you.
"So, you think my jokes are funny?" he asked with a curious smile. The way his blue eyes sparkled with admiration like a puppy was priceless.
"Of course, doesn't matter how cheesy they are," you answered. Then Vash furrowed his eyebrows.
"So why didn't you laugh at them?" he questioned further.
"I did, you just weren't listening hard enough," you replied. You then demonstrated with your silent but quick exhale. Vash looked at you dumbfounded and then pouted.
"That's not a laugh Y/N!" he argued with a comical face, as you chuckled. Then he did the unthinkable, he tickled your sides and you roared with laughter
"Stop! My face and sides already hurt from earlier. I promise I'll laugh to where you can hear me next time," you begged mid-laugh.
"Okay, I'll hold you to it," Vash grinned as he stopped tickling you. You managed to breathe again and regain your compsosure.
"I guess you can say I take your breath away," Vash added as you snorted this time.
"Sure Vash, now come one let's get back to the group," you offered just smiling at his antics. The universe worked in mysterious ways and put random people into your life. But after today, you didn't mind having Vash in your life. In fact, he was starting to grow on you a little. But that's for another day for him to hear at the campfire. For now, you appreciated how much he was willing to make you smile and laugh. In fact, he gave you hope in humanity every time he was with you and that was something you learned to appreciate.

You’re Actually Kinda Cute
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis: The reader is trying to shake off some cops who are after them. As the reader hides, they bump into a certain Humanoid Typhoon. Also I stumbled onto Trigun TikTok and found a certain *ahem* audio that gave me Vash brainrot (Comment if you know what I’m talking about). I definitely see Trimax Vash saying this, but I can also imagine Tristamp Vash doing this as well. A girl can dream! I live for this man’s smile 🤧 Enjoy!
“Stop right there! You can’t escape!”
The cops were hot on your trail. You ran with all your might and knocked down some furniture to slow them down. This was another typical day of your life as a fugitive. Your crime? Talking back to a cop who was cheating in a game of cards. You saw how the cops were scamming people at the bar. They practically hid their cards in their sleeves to win the double dollars. The minute you pointed out how the cops were cheating, you became the most wanted in their eyes tonight. In your defense, you couldn’t stand cops to begin with. No matter what city you visited, the system was corrupt. The people struggling to survive were punished with the most minuscule crimes. Meanwhile, the cops do whatever they please if it means breaking the law. It wasn’t your fault you wanted to make things fair. But because of this mentality, that ended up with them putting your face on a couple of wanted posters in a few cities.
Now you were running away from the law again. Thankfully, the people at the bar gave you enough time to run as they held the cops off. You spotted a hotel and figured you could shake them off there. You ran up the stairs and through the empty halls. You threw some items behind you as you kept running faster. Despite your head start, you were running out of breath. If you didn’t act now, the cops would catch up to you soon. You kept going until you saw a hotel room slightly open. Without hesitation, you ran inside and closed the door. You held your breath and remained silent. Things were silent until you heard incoming heavy footsteps running past the door. The loud footsteps faded as they sounded farther away. Seconds turned into minutes. Not taking a risk, you stayed quiet until you heard yelling.
“Hey! I saw someone running down the stairs. It must be them! Don’t let ‘em escape!” one of the cops shouted. You slowly peered into the peephole to scope the area outside. Sure enough, the two cops that were after you ran past the door. Once their footsteps faded, you waited an extra few seconds until you were met with silence once more. You let out a sigh of relief. Another day of successfully evading the law once again. At least for a few seconds that is.
You heard the door knob turning from inside the hotel room. Your breath hitched as you failed to realize the consequences of your actions. Who’s hotel room did you enter in? Depending on who it was can determine how your night will end. Either going back home or getting caught by the cops. In a state of panic, you rushed inside what seemed to be the closet of the hotel room. You were going to close the door, but you were too late.
Standing before you was a tall blonde man with the most beautiful blue eyes you have ever seen. He was wearing gray sweatpants, and only sweatpants. The man was practically topless, which showed his scarred yet toned chest and abdominals. The only thing covering his chest would be the towel draped over his shoulders. Judging his attire (or lack thereof) and wet hair, he finished showering.
“Well hello there,” the man spoke.
‘Oh no he’s hot,’ you screamed internally at the mess you had gotten yourself into.
“Uh I can explain, just please hear me out before you do anything else,” you begged. As you looked closer, you saw his prosthetic hand. Then you looked at his face once more and wondered why he looked so familiar. Finally, it dawned on you.
“You’re Vash the Stampede!” you thought out loud as your eyes widened. Vash was taken aback by your statement as he looked tense.
“So you know little ol’ me huh?” he chuckled lightly while flashing you a nervous smile.
“Of course I do! I’m just surprised you booked a hotel room with little to no trouble,” you answered. You knew how much he was worth, and he stood out like a sore thumb from the people with his looks and attire.
“I have my ways, but I could say the same to you. I don’t understand how you got in here my vicious little friend. It’s a mystery to me,” he said.
“Hey, I’m not vicious!” you countered.
“I mean you barged into my room,” he reasoned. Okay, he had a point. You did walk into that one, literally.
“Okay, fair enough. But in my defense, you left your door open. I casually walked in,” you argued.
“Really? I’m pretty sure I locked it,” he reasoned.
“No, it was pretty wide open. Or else, you would have seen some wear and tear of me getting in if it was closed,” you replied. He looked around his room and then at the door. Sure enough nothing looked broken.
“Okay, well why did you come in then?” he questioned.
“I was trying to get away from the cops,” you answered.
“Sounds like something a vicious person would do,” he added with a smile. You panicked at his response as you tried to explain yourself.
“Okay hear me out! I didn’t do anything wrong! In my defense, they were in the wrong for cheating people out of their money. Not my fault they were mad at me for pointing out how rigged things were,” you reasoned. You started explaining your situation to him from beginning to end. Plus, you mentioned to him how the people at the bar were trying to help you escape.
“See, the local townsfolk were on my side. I at least stopped them from getting their money stolen! If I was vicious, I would have turned you in to the cops by now. To be honest, I have no reason to,” you insisted.
“Wait, you aren’t going to turn me in? You’re not scared of me?” he asked as you shook your head.
“Can I ask why?” he added. You gave it some thought as you crossed your arms. You managed to talk to the blonde for this long without anything bad happening. It was a long shot, but it was better to try than not try at all.
“Because I know you’re not really an outlaw or vicious person like most people say. If you were, you would have either turned me in or hurt me by now. Am I wrong?” you asked that last part. You watched Vash’s facial expressions closely. Your answer must have taken him by surprise as he was still quiet. But his body was more relaxed compared to earlier. He then gestured for you to continue.
“I know you are on countless wanted posters, have a huge bounty on your head, and have many rumors about your crimes. But they’re just rumors, not testimonials. When I traveled to different cities, I bumped into people who mentioned good things about you. Some say you helped escort them, protect them, buy them a meal, reunite them with family, and so much more. I think that speaks volumes compared to what the law says about you,” you continued with a small smile. As you spoke, you noticed Vash’s gaze towards you softened. His blue eyes almost looked as if they were gleaming from the way the hotel lights hit him. You could see a smile make its way through his lips. Maybe he was thinking about the people he helped in the past and who exactly you bumped into.
“I see, so tell me something...uh-” Vash added.
“It’s Y/n,” you introduced yourself. After talking with Vash for this long, you felt comfortable enough to give him your name. Call it a gut feeling, but you bet that you gained his trust at this point.
“Y/n, last thing I wanted to ask you before I make my final decision. I’m sure you noticed I’m covered in scars. In fact, I’m pretty sure I have more than the average person. Tell me this, you’re still not afraid of me? Even after seeing these scars? Usually, most people run once they see this side of me,” he asked.
“Well, I guess I’m not most people. I won’t lie. It’s concerning to see that many. Yet, everyone gets scars. It’s a part of life. I talked to some folks who told me you fought many tough battles. When they say you’re willing to protect people, you must mean it. Those scars tell me that you care deeply for people. Much more than the law. So I admire that,” you acknowledge. While talking, you never broke eye contact with him. Everything you said was true and came from the heart. You never thought you would meet Vash in person, let alone in a hotel room where he’s topless. But anytime people spoke highly of him, the more you believed that he was a good person. You figured he was a kind, but misunderstood soul. The way he spoke, his demeanor, and body language said as much.
“So after everything you heard, do you still think I’m vicious enough to where the cops should take me?” you asked.
“Oh, I already knew you weren’t a vicious person to begin with. I could tell by the way you talked to me early on,” he said with a cheeky smile.
“WHAT?!” you asked as he chuckled.
“Sorry about that. It’s rare for me to bump into people like this. Since you were honest with me, I’ll tell you this. You’re actually kinda cute Y/n. Especially when you tried explaining yourself,” he complimented with a genuine smile as his eyes crinkled with joy.
It should be illegal for him to make that kind of face and compliment you so easily. Oh sure, people told you how kind and funny he was. Yet, no one warned you about his charms at all. Your cheeks were flushed, your heart quickened, and your head was spinning. Your looked away as your tried to cover your cheeks with your hands. If only the ground could swallow you whole so he didn’t have to see you like this.
“You made me go through all that. Then you come at me with a compliment with no warning. I think I’ll take my leave,” you said quite flustered. You couldn’t even bring yourself to make eye contact with him.
“Y/n wait! You sure you don’t want to stay here for a little longer? You know, just in case the cops are still looking for you? I really did like talking to you. I promise, no more funny business on my end,” Vash offered. You pondered at the thought. It was too tempting to pass up.
“Sure, just until the coast is clear. So enough about me. Tell me something I don’t know about the real Vash,” you replied. Sure enough, the blonde’s smile grew wider as he patted a seat on the bed.
“Where do I even begin!” he chimed in.

Hello! I saw you had requests opened and was wondering if I could bother you for a Vash x Reader? I was thinking of something small where they comfort each other after they both wake from their nightmares at the same time. Hope this isn't too vague! Love your writing!
A/n: Hi! You can always bother me for a Vash x reader! Also thank you for asking this! I know you asked for something small, but I got too into this 😅 I'm so sorry this took long! I finally recovered from my cold. I kinda added some angst but I promise there's still fluff and comfort scenes to this. Also this is my longest fic with 2.7K words! Hope you like it!

Silver Lining
Vash found himself in a beautiful garden surrounded by geraniums. The sunlight’s warmth adorned his face. He was resting by an enormous tree that provided enough shade from the sun. All was right with the world for the space cowboy. That was until Vash blinked and saw Nai standing before him.
“Just how much are you willing to gain their adoration with your silly little tricks? You’re no hero Vash. Never forget what happened,” he warned. Before Vash could react, Nai disappeared. As Vash turned around, certain townspeople appeared before him. Rosa sent death glares along with Tonis.
"If you didn't show up, none of this would have happened! Leave this town and never come back!" Rosa yelled as Vash flinched from the anger in her voice.
"You said you'd save us. You're no hero. If you were, I wouldn't have lost my arm," Tonis said in an unforgiving tone. Vash tried reaching out to the little boy as he wanted to talk. As he reached for his shoulder, Rollo appeared with a face of disgust. Vash's heart rate spiked as he saw the little boy he once knew.
“You liar! You said you would come back for me! You said you'd save us,” he hissed. Before Vash could say anything, a gunshot resonated in the air. Vash flinched as Rollo transformed into his current form and fell limp. Vash's breathing became erratic as he remembered how helpless when Rollo was shot.
"You're so irresponsible. You can't even take care of us. Let alone keep your promises. You're not a hero. You're a coward who can't stand to watch people die," Nai reprimanded. The guilt was building up and weighing on his heart. He never meant to disappoint and fail to protect the people he cared for. Vash truly wanted to save everyone, but the fact that he couldn't save every human haunted him.
As he looked away from Rollo, a familiar figure appeared in the corner of his eye. Rem. She reached her hand out towards him, gesturing to him that everything would be okay. Desperate for the familiar warmth and safety he once felt, Vash ran towards her. As he got closer, Rem's eyebrows furrowed as a sorrowful smile appeared on her lips. Vash's heart quickened as he was confused. Why was she giving him that look? Then she started to disappear slowly.
"WAIT! DON'T GO! DON'T LEAVE ME!" Vash pleaded.
"I'm so sorry, my perfect boy," Rem spoke as tears trickled down her cheeks. As Vash was about to grab her hand, she vanished. All that was left were wilted geranium petals in her place. Vash's legs buckled in defeat. He was all alone again. His eyes were closed shut from the physical, mental, and emotional pain he's endured all these years. He dug his fingernails into his palms. The shame, despair, and impotence were too much for him to bear. Vash's past was creeping up more than ever as his survivor's guilt grew exponentially. The poor plant was succumbing to despair until a silver lining made itself known.
"Vash!"
Vash's ears perked up as he knew that voice by heart. He looked up and saw the one person that held a special place in his heart. The person called out for him again. Vash stood up as he tried to pinpoint the source of the sound. He squinted his blue eyes until a familiar face appeared. They cupped their hands around their mouth and yelled his name again.
"Vash! I'm right here!”
The person was waving at Vash as he ran as fast as his legs could. He hoped this time they wouldn’t disappear like Rem. Tears were welling up, but Vash wiped them away as he refused to lose sight of this person. The closer he got, the clearer he saw that radiant smile that always washed away his fears. The person welcomed them with open arms as Vash ran faster. All he wanted was to be comforted with a tight embrace that he so desperately craved. He yearned for that familiar warmth that he could find solace in. This person, Y/n, was his safe haven where no one could hurt him. Once he got close enough, Vash tightly embraced them as he thanked any higher power out there that Y/n didn’t disappear in his arms.
“Y/n, you’re real. I’m so happy you’re real and here with me,” he choked up as they returned the hug.
“Hey, it's okay. I’m right here Vash,” Y/n reassured him with their gentle words. Vash didn’t want to let go of them, fearing they would be whisked away. He looked at their precious face and saw the love and adoration that he’s come to love. Y/n gave them a sweet kiss on his soft lips after what he’s been through. Oh how his heart always fluttered any time he received affection. Once he pulled away, Vash let out an audible gasp as his eyes dilated with fear. Bruises and cuts appeared on Y/n’s face. Those wounds weren't there a second ago. Vash cupped their face and trembled at the sight of his lover's face.
“Y/n, what happened to you? Who did this to you?” He asked. Tears were forming in his eyes as Vash’s anxiety spiked once more.
“Vash what are you talking about? I’m fine. If anything, I should be asking you what’s wrong. You look like you’ve seen a ghost. You’re shaking,” they replied. Before Vash could answer, the world around them started to crack, almost as if everything was made out of glass. The ground shook, causing the two of them to lose their balance.
“Vash, what’s going on?” they asked as the cracks in the area grew around them at an alarming rate. Then everything started to fall apart as pieces of your surroundings fell like glass. One large piece landed between Vash and Y/n, causing a large rift separating the pair. Once Y/n regained their balance, a strange force was pulling them away from Vash as an ominous dark void appeared.
“Vash! Something is pulling me in! I’m scared!” They called out. The blonde panicked as he tried to run and close the distance between them. The more he ran, the farther the distance grew. Vash desperately tried to grab Y/n’s hand as he put all his energy into lunging himself towards them. He was so close to them as his fingertips were in reach of their hand. Yet, familiar sharp bladed tendrils emerged from the void, grabbing Y/n's entire body. The look of horror was plastered on Y/n’s face as they were dragged away into the dark void with no trace left behind but their scream. Vash’s heart dropped as the void disappeared. He clawed and kicked away at the spot, hoping it would come back. Once he realized nothing was happening, Vash let out a guttural scream built from all the loneliness and pain from all these years.
“Vash! VASH! VASH WAKE UP!”
Vash shot up from his bed and let out an ear-piercing scream. Once his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he saw his hotel room illuminated by the moonlight. Beads of sweat covered his face, and his clothes clung to his sweaty skin. Vash held his head with both hands, pushing some of his hair back as he tried to process what happened.
“Vash?”
The blonde snapped his head towards the source of the sound. His shaky hands held Y/n's concerned face. His blue eyes stared deep into their e/c eyes. No signs of cuts, bruises, or wounds were found on their face as his thumb slowly brushed their cheek. Once he confirmed that they were real, Vash sighed in relief. His eyebrows furrowed, and his lips quivered. His eyes began to water with his body shaking.
“Vash, what’s the matter sunshine? You were squirming all night,” Y/n added. The minute he heard Y/n call him by his nickname, he immediately pulled them into a bear hug. Vash couldn’t hold back the tears as he bawled his heart out. He was relieved that his Y/n was here with him by his side. He held onto Y/n for dear life, afraid that they would disappear after experiencing the worst nightmare he had so far.
“Y/n, I’m so happy you're okay. I'm so sorry I let go of you. I promise I’ll never let you go and protect you as best as I can,” Vash wailed as his voice cracked every time he spoke. He shook like a leaf and kept hugging Y/n tighter each second. Even though Vash was squeezing the living daylights out of Y/n, they kept rubbing his back and reassuring him.
“Shhh, it’s okay. I’m right here Vash. Did you have a nightmare again?” Y/n asked. Vash nodded as Y/n pulled away slightly to wipe the tears off his face. Vash tried to explain what happened, but his shaking, sniffles, and lump in his throat made it difficult to understand. Y/n then placed both hands on his shoulders and instructed him to follow their breathing. Inhale for four seconds, hold for four seconds, exhale for four seconds, hold four seconds, and repeat. They repeated this until Vash’s tremors subsided, and his breathing was normal again. Y/n then slid their hands down to his hands, and gave them a slight squeeze.
“Better?” Y/n asked as Vash nodded his head again. They then gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
“Good. Wanna start from the beginning?” Y/n asked as Vash took a deep breath.
“I had the same nightmare again. The one with Nai. Except, more people showed up. People like Rosa, Tonis, Rollo, Rem, and…you,” Vash started. It was still fresh from his memory. The guilt, the disappointment, the cold stares, and the broken promises were too much. But what hurt the most was seeing Y/n.
“When I saw you, I ran to you and didn’t let go. Then when I looked at you again, you had cuts and bruises all over your face. I tried to figure out what happened, but everything around us collapsed. Then we got separated again, and I tried reaching out to you, but it was too late. You were pulled away from me and vanished right before my eyes. I thought I lost you like the others Y/n,” Vash finished as his voice cracked at the very end. Y/n then pulled them into a hug as their arms wrapped around his shoulders.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that Vash. You had a bad dream, but you’re awake now. This is real. I’m real, and everything is okay now,” Y/n reassured.
“Yes, but I couldn't save those people back then. What if I can’t save you? What if-?” Vash asked, but Y/n cut them off before he spiraled. They firmly squeezed his shoulder and ensured they were making direct eye contact.
“Vash, you’ve saved so many people. Remember the Sand Worm? The bandits? The police? E.G Bomber? That was you. You saved as many people as you possibly could. You saved Roberto, Meryl, Wolfwood, and my life many times. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t be here now. So I know you’ll always be there for us and the people in need of saving. And I’ll keep reminding you just how capable you are. Plus, what happened back then was not your fault. You couldn't have predicted what was going to happen. So stop blaming yourself for something you couldn't control. When life gets rough, we keep moving forward,” Y/n reminded them as they gave him a soft yet hopeful look. Vash was about to tear up from those words, but managed to wipe them away with his hand. Even though he felt he didn't deserve this comfort, he knew that Y/n wasn't wrong and knew what to say to put him at ease.
“Thank you for staying by my side Mayfly. You’re so patient and understanding. I honestly don't know how I got so lucky to have you with me. Also, sorry for waking you up like that,” Vash sniffled after pulling them into a gentle embrace.
“Actually, you’re not the only one who had a nightmare,” Y/n confessed. Vash pulled away to look at them with a face that read ‘You too?!’ Y/n reluctantly pulled away and brought their knees to their chest.
“I had a dream where everyone I cared for suffered in front of me. My family, friends, Roberto, Meryl, Wolfwood, and you were in my dream. Each of you was tortured in front of me by these horrible people. All of you were begging and screaming for help. I tried to do something, but my body wouldn’t move, no matter how hard I tried. I couldn’t even look away. I was forced to see everyone get hurt. It was...it was horrible,” Y/n explained as their voice cracked at the last few sentences. Their eyes were welling up with tears as Vash pulled Y/n into a side hug. His hand slowly rubbing their back.
“Then these people were about to deal the final blow to all of you. I was so scared that I tried to scream and move. Then I woke up to you screaming. I was so scared that I called out for you. That’s when you woke up and screamed. I was shocked but relieved to see that you were alive. I’m just glad that it was a bad dream once I realized you held me, and I saw your face. I couldn't bear the thought of losing people close to me, especially you Vash,” Y/n sobbed and covered their face with both hands as the dream felt too real.
Vash gently moved their hands away and cupped Y/n's face. He wiped away their tears, but his heart sunk seeing Y/n like this. Vash wasn't exactly sure what to say, but knew what to do. He closed his eyes, gently placed his hands on both sides of Y/n's head, and slowly leaned forward until his forehead touched theirs. He knew Y/n wasn't a plant, but it was a natural instinct for him to do. Anytime Y/n felt sad, scared, frustrated, or anxious, he would rest his forehead on them. He would hope they could feel willpower, and energy trying to calm you down like he did with the plants. Sure enough, Y/n's breathing calmed down, and the tears stopped falling. Then he heard a content hum as Vash smiled. That's the sound he was looking for. He opened his ocean blue eyes to see a more relaxed Y/n who's eyes were slowly opening.
"Better?" Vash asked.
"Just what I needed. Thank you Vash," they replied. Vash beamed at his accomplishment as he caressed their head with his human hand and held their back with his prosthetic hand. He quickly pecked their forehead and lips before nestling his neck on Y/n's shoulder.
"Anything for my precious Mayfly," Vash commented with a content smile as Y/n hugged them back and kissed the side of his head. Vash then laid down in bed and pulled Y/n with them to where they rested on top of his chest.
"How late is it?" Vash asked.
"Late enough to have a nightmare and comfort session," Y/n replied as Vash chuckled.
"Want to try to go back to sleep?" Y/n suggested.
"Maybe if I get a kiss we can," Vash teased as he flashed his cheeky smile. Y/n laughed this time and kissed his beauty mark, then his lips. Vash's smile grew wider as his eyes crinkled with joy.
"Happy?" Y/n asked as they rested on his chest once more.
"Happy as can be," he replied while intertwining his fingers with theirs.
"Maybe you can sing that song of yours with your pretty voice before we go to bed?" Y/n requested as Vash blushed at the compliment.
"Promise you won't let go?" Vash asked as he squeezed their hand.
"I promise, now sweet dreams sunshine," Y/n wished as Vash gave them a goodnight kiss.
"Sweet dreams Mayfly," Vash replied as he started humming his song. He watched Y/n get comfortable and steady their breathing. Once he made sure Y/n was asleep, he cuddled them with his prosthetic arm before slowly drifting off to sleep in hopes of a calming dream.

Always on My Mind
A/N: Hi! Been awhile since I posted Wolfwood x reader. I was inspired by a Wolfwood art piece made by @usuallynana ❤️ Please check out her beautiful work! Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
You hated that cockiness. You hated that smirk. You hated how smug he was. You hated how he looked at you. You hated how he teased you. You hated him, yet he made you feel things you had never felt before one night. That person was Nicholas D. Wolfwood, who lived rent-free in your mind.
Meeting Wolfwood was a happy accident. The gang was driving past the desert dunes into the next city. All of you were lost in your thoughts until something hit the van. One minute, everyone was panicking about nearly killing a passerby. The next minute, he was fine and walking on his own two feet.
Your first impression of him? A mysterious person that knew how to smooth talk his way out of any situation. He was the kind of person that was nowhere near your type. He lied about being a priest, wore a shit-eating grin, and held many secrets. Plus, he carried this high-tech cross weapon that could annihilate a gigantic sand worm or human life at any moment. Any time you tried to dig any information out of him, he would either reply with vague anecdotes or tease the living daylights out of you.
Whenever you found yourself in sticky situations or fought with pesky enemies, Wolfwood was always there to alleviate or take care of things. Some people can say he was helping you, but the thing was you never asked for his help. You were competent enough to diffuse any fights and beat up some baddies. Despite your efforts, Wolfwood always had to come at you with the nickname he gave you no matter the situation.
“You looked like you needed some help, Your Highness.”
“Careful there, wouldn’t want to see yourself get hurt, Your Highness.”
“On your left, Your Highness!”
Oh how that name irked you. Every. Single. Time. You don’t know where he came up with that nickname for you, but you were far from a spoiled brat. You can fight just like him and Vash with your gun and fists. You made sure everyone was taken care of before even taking care of yourself. So who was he to go around and call you that nickname so matter-of-factly?
Anytime you fought bandits, police, military, sandworms, or anything getting in your way, you made it a point that you were capable of fighting on your own. Sometimes, you would knock out one of the enemies for Wolfwood if he wasn’t careful enough.
“Just thought you needed a hand, Nico~” you told him one day. Oh did that strike a nerve for him. You could see he was red with rage as you laughed at his reaction.
“That’s Wolfwood to you, Your Highness!” he yelled. Sometimes, the teasing between you two would start silly competitions such as “Who could finish the fight faster? How many enemies can you knock out?” Meryl and Vash never heard the end of it with the constant teasing and bickering from you two. It didn’t matter where you two where or who was there with you, but one of you had to had the last word. Eventually, Meryl and Vash would get used to it or they would:
a. Break up the incessant arguing (Vash always resorts to this).
b. Someone will threaten to stop or swerve the van (that someone is always Meryl).
Option B only happened when Wolfwood was fighting recklessly to where he got injured multiple times. When you saw how bad he looked, you ran to his aid immediately once you took care of the men shooting at you. Before you could apply first aid, Wolfwood refused your help. He kept turning you down and said he didn’t need treatment. You two practically yelled at each other until Meryl halted the van. She couldn’t take the fighting anymore, and locked the two of you inside until someone gave in. Eventually, Wolfwood explained why he refused your help when you saw his wounds disappear. He showed you the ampule he took and disclosed a bit of his past to you. You saw his more vulnerable side, and appreciated that there were less secrets between the two of you. From that day on, you held a bit more respect for Wolfwood and the teasing toned down...a little.
~*~ Fast forward to many weeks of fighting and visiting new cities ~*~
Vash and Meryl were resting at the bar after a long day of fighting off bandits and police in the city. Overwhelmed by the loud cheers of drunken men and how stuffy the bar was, you decided to get some fresh air. Welcomed by the cool crisp air, you smiled at the fresh breeze. Plus, the moon looked beautiful tonight. You wanted to take advantage of the scenery, and how peaceful outside was. That was until you picked up the faint smell of smoke. The universe really said you’re not getting 5 minutes of peace. You were about to tell the person to quit smoking until your eyes landed on him.
Despite how dark it was, you could tell it was Wolfwood as he was lighting up his cigarette. The light from his cigarette highlighted Wolfwood’s calloused hands that carried the heaviest weight. Yet, those same hands were delicate enough to protect the fading embers from the night’s cool breeze. Furthermore, that light highlighted and accentuated his facial features. You never knew how well-sculpted Wolfwood’s face and jawline wer until now. The way his dark brown eyes met your e/c eyes gave you goosebumps. Finally, once he realized it was you, he gave you a small smirk that you knew all too well. Anytime you were with him put you in an irritable mood. Yet, the way he looked at you tonight felt different. His gaze made your heart race, and his smirk made your stomach do cartwheels.
“Fancy seeing you here, Your Highness,” he spoke. When did his voice start to sound so sultry and make your cheeks flush? Was this the same Wolfwood you traveled with that Meryl and Vash were familiar with?
“Hey, Earth to Y/n? Are you going to answer me? Or let me guess. Cat got your tongue?” Wolfwood asked as he cocked his eyebrow at you. His smirk grew slightly as he asked you those questions. Your head was spiraling, and you needed to act fast.
“As if! You know how I feel about smoking, and you calling me that nickname. It’s so appalling, I can’t think properly,” you argued and pouted at him.
“There’s that feisty spirit of yours. So what brings you here to join me?” he answered with a hearty chuckle. He then blew the smoke away from you as the cold breeze carried it away.
“First off, it was too stuffy inside the bar. Second, I didn’t know you would be out here. So don’t flatter yourself,” you explained. He chuckled again at your response. He then closed the top of his lighter and put it away in his breast pocket. Since when did he have such defined pe-
‘SNAP OUT OF IT Y/N! WHY ARE YOU LOOKING THERE?!’ you screamed internally.
The more you looked at him, the more disoriented you were with your thoughts. You managed to look away and stare at the moon to gather your thoughts. What in the world was happening to you?
“Hey, Y/n,”
“What?”
“Look at me.”
You don’t know why, but you reluctantly looked at him again to see his hand approaching your face. You panicked at what he was planning to do, but you froze at his touch. His fingertips gently brushed your cheek as you held your breath. You couldn’t look away from his eyes as he was focused looking at you. Finally, he pulled his hand away from you as you exhaled away the tension.
“What was that for?” you asked.
“You had a stray eyelash. Make a wish,” Wolfwood answered with a grin as he held it before you. The way the moonlight shined on Wolfwood left you speechless. You were nervous all because he was trying to remove a stray eyelash on you. What has gotten into you? You shook away your thoughts and blew away the eyelash. At least you managed to do that.
“What did you wish for?” he asked.
“I’m not telling you, or else my wish isn’t coming true,” you replied. Then another cold breeze hit you. You regretted not taking a swig of beer to warm you up before leaving.
“Bet you wish you had something warm,” Wolfwood teased as you scoffed. Then you felt something on your shoulders. You turned around to see Wolfwood smoking but with his button-up only.
“You need it more than I do. Hate to see you catch a cold anyway,” he continued talking as you looked at him. He then started walking past you as he put his arms behind his head.
“I’ll be inside taking a shot before calling it a night. You can keep that for tonight. Just make sure to give it back in the morning ‘kay?” Wolfwood added as he winked at you. You didn’t say anything, but nod your head at him. You could feel your cheeks turn a tinge of red as he continued walking.
“Don’t do something I wouldn’t do Y/n,” he waved off without looking at you. You slowly slid down to the ground once he was gone from your peripheral vision. Your knees were close to your chest as you held onto his clothing. It smelled just like him and cigarettes. Your heart raced at the thought of him.
The way he looked at you. The way his hands carried the Punisher. The way he was always next to you in battle. The way he grinned at you. The way his fingertips touched your cheek. The way he winked at you. The way he spoke to you just now was overwhelming. After being alone in your thoughts, it hit you. Your eyes widened at the realization as your face flushed. Despite no one being around you, you covered your red face with both hands.
“I think I like him,” you said out loud.

A/n: Ooo I can sort of relate to this, just mainly the all-nighters :’) Also hope you don't mind Vash giving the reader some much needed TLC ❤️Enjoy!

A Break from Perfectionism
“Ugh, why does the chin look weird?”
“Now the eyes aren’t leveled,”
“Hands are the worst to draw!"
"Why do they still look wonky? They shouldn't look like this!"
You kept muttering to yourself as you tried to sketch on your drawing pad. You were limited on supplies, so this drawing had to be perfect. You already used up most of your supplies at the last town with your previous commissions. You already spent most of your double dollars to restock on the set of charcoal sticks and sketch paper you used. Just like clothes, art supplies were expensive to buy in No Man's Land.
However, you managed to get one commission that would cover all your future expenses. One of the townsfolk noticed your portfolio and wanted a portrait of themselves. When they told you how much they were willing to pay, you nearly passed out from the amount of double dollars they held out in front of you. Of course, you couldn't say no to this commission and promised to work on it immediately. Usually, you would have finished this commission quickly since it was your only one. The only problem is, your perfectionism was getting in the way of making any progress. You needed this commission to be perfect. One second it would look great at a glance, but after five seconds, you would find a flaw upon closer inspection. Thus, you would fix the mistake with some erasing, sketching, or shading until you were satisfied. This process would repeat itself until you lost track of time. You were currently working on the face until you heard someone come inside your room.
“Y/n, you there?” A familiar voice asked. You didn’t need to look up. You recognized that voice from a mile away. You couldn’t afford to look away from your sketch as you were shading in the shadows of the person you drew.
“Yeah I’m here, what’s up Vash?” You asked as you started finishing up the last shade of the cheek. It wasn’t good, nor terrible, but it would do for now. After all, you were going to fix it again for the umpteenth time.
“I’m just checking in on you. How's it going with the artwork?” Vash asked as you could hear him walk closer to you. When Vash first asked about seeing your drawings, you were such a nervous wreck about him seeing your work. Now, you've grown used to him seeing your portfolio after you started dating each other. He was your muse whenever you had an art block. The way Vash expressed himself and his little mannerisms were perfect for you to draw.
"Wow, that looks amazing Y/n! This is probably your best one yet!" Vash complimented as you sighed.
"Thanks, I wish I could see this the way you do. It's not nearly finished. There are so many things wrong with this piece that I need to fix. The shading is all wrong on this part, and the face looks wonky at certain angles," you whined as you looked at the sketch again and started zoning in on all the flaws. The more you looked at the piece, the more you felt the urge to crumple up the paper and start over.
"Hey, don't be so harsh on yourself. You're a great artist, and everyone knows it. Why don't we take a break from this and work on it later?" he suggested, putting his hands on your tense shoulders.
"Vash I can't! I have to keep working on this. I need to finish this soon. I promised this person I would have it ready before we leave in a few days!" you argued.
"Y/n, you need a break. This isn't healthy for you. Besides, when was the last time you took a break? Did you even eat?" Vash persisted as you thought about how to answer those questions without worrying him.
"Uhhh...I took a mini break when Meryl checked in on me sometime ago. And I had a snack not too long ago," you answered vaguely. Before any of you could answer, your stomach growled loud enough for five seconds. Long and loud enough for Vash to hear. You immediately turned red at that moment, cursing your stomach and its terrible timing.
"Y/n, when exactly did you last eat something filling?" Vash asked. When you looked at him, you saw his glasses were glinting at you. This was not a good sign, as you knew he was dead serious if you couldn't see his pretty blue eyes anymore.
"When we all ate together?" you answered quietly. You then felt two strong hands on your waist. Next thing you knew, your feet were no longer touching the ground. Vash was carrying you over his shoulder with his prosthetic hand. It was at this moment, you knew there was no escaping your boyfriend if he had you in his prosthetic grip. You knew how strong he was with that arm in particular as he adjusted his grip on you.
"Vash please! I promise to take a break and eat later! Just please put me down!" you begged.
"Y/n, I can't believe you haven't eaten a proper meal in days! You're not leaving my sight until you eat and rest," Vash argued as you whined in defeat. Vash took you out from your room as you were covering your face in shame. You felt embarrassed being carried like this, and it didn't help people were going to see you and Vash like this.
"Wolfwood, make sure Y/n doesn't go in this room unless I say so. We'll be back later," Vash requested. You then saw Wolfwood waiting outside your room and placed his weapon in front of your room. He told Vash he'd watch over the place as you were in complete shock. Now there was no way you could sneak back into your room and continue working.
~*~
Vash brought you down to the hotel's dining room. You were a blushing mess when you saw a couple of people lounging there. It wasn't every day that Vash carried you over his shoulder, let alone in a public space where people could see. He finally set you down at a table for two where Meryl and Roberto sat. They then left once they saw Vash as the both of you took a seat. You could see two plates of freshly cooked Thomas meat in front of the two of you.
"Vash, is this for me?" you asked as he nodded.
"How? This must have cost a good chunk of our funds!" you added, feeling bad just looking at this meal.
"Y/n, you deserve to eat a warm meal. Plus, I don't mind spending money on you if it means sharing a meal with you like this. I haven't seen you in days since you started working on that piece," Vash explained. Oh how a wave of shame washed over you. You didn't realize how much time and energy you spent working on this commission. When you thought back to how Vash checked in on you earlier, you didn't even bother to look at him.
"I'm sorry Vash, I didn't mean to ignore you like that. I got so invested in working, I didn't realize how much time passed. I'll make it up to you somehow," you apologized.
"No I understand, just promise me to take breaks every now and then okay?" he replied with those sweet blue eyes that held so much love and kindness for you every day. You nodded your head and began to dig into your meal. The meat was succulent and tender with each bite you took. Your mouth was overwhelmed with flavor as your stomach was finally getting fed actual food.
"Vash this is so good! Thank you for getting this," you chimed as Vash smiled at how content you were.
"I'm glad you like it! Eat as much as you can, you need all the energy you can get for later," he replied before taking a bite of his meal. You didn't realize how hungry you were until you finished everything on your plate. Even Vash managed to wipe his plate clean as there were no scraps left behind. Once you were finished, Vash led you to his room while holding your hand with his warm cybernetic arm. Once you entered, he locked the room and led you to his bed.
"Y/n, when was the last time you slept? Be honest," Vash asked. Guilt-ridden, you averted your e/c eyes from your boyfriend. You already knew you didn't get a wink of sleep when you saw your dark circles in the reflection of your silverware earlier. Vash exhaled as he knew more or less the answer to his question. He then pulled you over to him as he held you close. Vash then caressed your cheek as his blue eyes locked on to yours. His eyebrows were furrowed with a small frown apparent on his beautiful face.
"Please take better care of yourself next time. I know I'm not great at taking care of myself, but I don't want you catching my habits too," Vash spoke. Your heart sunk as you rested your hand on his right cheek.
"I'm so sorry Vash, I will. The last thing I want to do was worry you. But you better take care of yourself too. We both can't be neglecting ourselves or each other. Promise me we'll both take better care of ourselves and each other?" you offered as Vash nodded with a smile growing on his face. His eyes gleamed as they crinkled from his smile that you loved ever so much.
You then kissed Vash gently on the lips as he pulled you closer to him. He rubbed small circles on your back as you melted into the kiss. Once you pulled away for air, Vash stared at you in such adoration as he slowly brushed his thumb on your cheek.
"I missed you so much Mayfly," he said as he laid down and pulled you with him. You loved it when he called you by your nickname. That name never failed to warm your heart as you showered Vash with butterfly kisses.
"Aw I missed you too my angel. I wished I was commissioned to draw you instead. I love to draw your beautiful face any chance I get," you cooed. Afterwards, Vash's cheeks were turning slightly pink as he wore a shy smile on his face before covering his face with both hands. He was a blubbering red mess the first time he heard you call him that. When you explained why you called him that, Vash nearly passed out from the overwhelming love and compliments you showered him with. When you first met him, you mistook him for an angel, because there was no way a human could look that pretty 24/7. When he saw your portraits of him in your sketchbook, he was in awe of how you drew him. How you perceived him in all your work was how Vash wanted to see himself in the mirror. Whether it was him smiling, laughing, or gazing, you always drew Vash in all his beauty. Plus, you always left little comments about how ethereal he was in your work that he practically melted. That nickname always turned Vash into absolute putty in your hands.
Vash then snuck a peak at you with his beautiful eyes as you chuckled at how childlike he was. He then grabbed your wrists and started massaging them slowly. All the pain building up from all the late night sketches and awkward positioning of your wrists was finally alleviated.
"How's that Mayfly?" he asked as he continued massaging you from your wrists to your hands and lastly to your fingers. Every little rub and massage he did brought so much relief to you. Your muscles and joints were slowly relaxing with each touch. You had no idea you were so tense earlier. If it wasn't for Vash, you probably would have gotten carpal tunnel syndrome much earlier. Once Vash finished, he planted kisses on both hands.
"How did you know?" you asked him.
"You were stiff when I first saw you today. Plus, your movements were rigid when we were eating earlier. Did my massage help?" he asked as you kissed him once more.
"More than you know," you replied as Vash brought you to his chest and kissed your lips and cheeks.
"Good, you deserve it after working so hard," Vash added. He then caressed the back of your head. He then slowly and gently ran his fingers through your hair. Furthermore, he rested his other arm on your back as you rested your head on top of his right chest. You loved hearing his heartbeat as it always calmed you down.
"Can we stay like this for awhile Angel?" you asked him.
"As long as you want Mayfly," he answered.
"Good, I think I'll take a quick nap on you if you don't mind," you added.
"Go ahead. I'll be right here. Sweet dreams my Mayfly," Vash wished as he planted one soft kiss on your head. Your eyes slowly got heavy as you drifted off to the sweet bliss of sleep. Once Vash made sure you were asleep, he slowly rested both his arms on top of your back and stared fondly at you. Oh how he missed having you in his arms these past few days. Vash loved and adored you every second. He knew how much this commission was stressing you out when he realized how important it was to you. Vash isn't the type to bother you while you work, but after not seeing you for days, he mustered up all the courage he had to knock on your door. The blonde was touch starved for days and missed seeing his favorite person. After all, you were his safe haven in this cruel world.
~*~
You woke up to see the sun setting. You looked to see Vash sleeping next to you as he held you by the waist. The minute you moved, Vash slowly stirred since he was such a light sleeper. Then those beautiful eyes slowly blinked at you as a smile crept on his lips.
"Sleep well?" he asked as you nodded.
"Good," he replied as he pecked your lips. Vash looked at the window and realized the time. He then walked you back to your room and allowed you to go back to work. Except, you would have to sleep with him later tonight, which you happily obliged. Wolfwood moved his weapon away as you walked inside. Once you settled in, you looked at the sketch you did and started redrawing the areas that bothered you. Once that was done, you started shading and outlining the prominent features with your charcoal sticks. Then, you started adding little touchups to the smaller details. Finally, you looked at the outcome of your work. You couldn't spot any mistakes after giving it a good look. Finally, you were done with this piece!
You immediately grabbed your things and ran to Vash's room. He was excited to see you once you knocked at his door. Once you changed clothes, showered, and brushed your teeth, the both of you got comfortable in each other's arms in bed. Despite how stressful the past few days were on you, you were grateful to have Vash intervene and take care of you. After today, you were not afraid to take a couple of much needed breaks. Especially if it meant Vash would be spending time with you during those said breaks.

Thank you for writing Vash x reader and Wolfwood x reader! I know this may have been overdone, but could we get scenarios where Vash and Wolfwood get nightmares about losing their s/o and how the reader would comfort them separately? Thanks x 💖
Hi there! Thanks for reading my work! It always makes me happy that people like what I post 💖 also thank you for requesting this! This is my first one! Hope you like it!
Dreams and Nightmares
Tumblr media
Vash:
At first he would have nice dreams of you, but the minute it becomes a nightmare panic sets in. He imagines you standing afar, but the more he tries to get close to you, the farther the distance is. What really scares him is when you start to fade from existence. You’re screaming out for him as you start leaving a trail of germanium flower petals behind in your stance.
Vash jolts awake and sits up from his sleeping bag. He’s covered in cold sweat as his clothes cling onto him. His heart is beating much faster than usual as his breathing is erratic. His blue eyes dart around looking for the one thing most precious to him. Thankfully the moonlight makes it easier to see in the desert. He spots your sleeping bag, but Vash is still not convinced until he sees your face. He slowly walks up to see your sleeping form. He’s able to settle down, but his movements wake you as you start stirring.
“Vash? What’s going on? Why are you still awake?” You ask.
“Oh Y/n, it’s nothing. Don’t worry about me,” he chuckled dryly. Your eyebrows furrowed as that laugh wasn’t convincing you one bit. You can see through the facade clearly as his forehead was covered in sweat.
“You had a nightmare again didn’t you?” You asked as Vash looked away with guilt and embarrassment.
“What did you dream about?” You asked giving him your full attention.
“I dreamt about you disappearing right in front of me. The more I tried to reach you, the further away you would get. And then you disappeared right before me. I thought I lost you,” he explained as his voice cracked a few times. Your heart ached to see the man so vulnerable and scared. Yet, this wasn’t the first time it happened. You sighed as you brought his sleeping bag to your side.
“Come on let’s go back to sleep together. I won’t leave your side okay?” You reassured as he nodded. He went back into his sleeping bag, as you reached out to pull him into a hug. He felt like he didn’t deserve it, but to you he deserved the world on a silver platter. He held onto you tightly while cradling your head gently to where it laid on his chest. Vash needed to know you were there with him and that he can feel you. You then started humming a familiar tune that shocked the blonde.
“You remember that song?” He asked.
“Of course, you said it helps calm you down whenever you’re anxious right? Thought it might help,” you explained and continued to hum the melody.
Vash melted right then and there as his worries we’re slowly washing away. He was beyond grateful he had you by his side. Vash gave you a tender kiss to your cheek and then your lips. His once tense muscles were now relaxed, as you gently rubbed his back. You made sure in your power that you were able to lull Vash back to sleep as he dozed off with a fond smile.
“Sweet dreams Vash,” you whispered and give him a kiss on his cheek before going back to sleep with him holding you tenderly.
Tumblr media
Wolfwood:
Wolfwood hardly ever dreamed, and if he did he would probably forget about it in the morning. But when it came to nightmares, the Punisher never forgot. He was dreaming about his childhood when he was still at the orphanage with Livio. He cherished those memories as those were the days life was good. Then the dream fast forwarded to where they were both older. Livio was now a man and standing beside him was you. Then appeared Legato with an evil smirk. The minute Legato raised a gun, Wolfwood try to stop him before pulling the trigger.
*CLICK!*
Wolfwood opened his eyes to darkness as he slightly yelled. He woke up with his hair plastered to his forehead practically shaking from what he saw. He got up slightly and looked around to see he was in a hotel room with his cross leaning on the side of the room. Wolfwood covered his face with his hands and slowly pushed his hair back.
“It’s just a nightmare,” he whispered to himself. He then looked to his right side to see your sleeping form. It was definitely a dream since you were by his side probably having a much better dream than him. Wolfwood loved how the moonlight highlighted your precious face. He sighed and moved a few stray hairs on your face.
“Did you have a nightmare?” You asked. Wolfwood retracted his hand as your eyes looked at his shocked figure.
“You were squirming last night and then called out my name and Livio’s,” you explained as you turned on your side to face him.
“Sorry for waking you up. It’s just a dumb nightmare anyway,” Wolfwood dismissed as he held his head. He hated that you knew, because the last thing he wanted was to bother you with his problems.
“No don’t be. Everyone has them including me. Do you want to talk about it?” You asked. Wolfwood grunted and then turned away from you trying to go back to sleep. He was quite the stubborn and prideful man. You slowly exhaled and snaked your arms underneath his shirt. You could feel Wolfwood let out a sharp inhale as your arms wrapped around his torso. Once you scooted closer to hug him from behind he relaxed. He was definitely putty in your hands now.
“Just know that I’m here Nico,” you cooed. You knew full well how much he hated being called that in public. But if it was just you alone, he loved it. Wolfwood held your hands and kissed them lightly. Then he turned around to face you and pull you to his chest.
“I know you are. I just like to be the one protecting you is all,” he confessed. You then gave him a kiss on the cheek. He then kissed your lips gently while freeing his other hand to caress your cheek.
“Yeah, but sometimes Nico the Punisher needs someone to lean on every now and then. And that can be me,” you smiled as he chuckled at the name and started messing your hair up while you laughed.
“Gotcha to laugh now didn’t I?” You giggled as Wolfwood held onto you once more and started kissing you.
“You’re lucky I’m letting you call me that,” he commented as you nuzzled the crook of his neck.
“Yeah because you love me,” you said matter-of-factly. Wolfwood relaxed at you getting comfortable with him and rested his chin on top of your head.
“That I do, and I’ll always protect you because of that. Thanks Y/n,” he whispered as he felt himself dozing off once more. This time, without the nightmares.

Treading Carefully
Tumblr media
a/n: Hi everyone! This was a request from one of my friends who also loves Vash! Let me know what you think :)
You were a mercenary just living day by day to get by. You learned how cruel it was to live and survive in No Man’s Land when the cops robbed your family of their basic necessities. In order to help out, you traveled to each city hoping to raid or steal a couple of supplies from people who were well off. Because of that, you racked up a high bounty on your head from previous cities you’ve visited. Thankfully, you weren’t on the bounty list yet.
You ended up in Jeneora where the heat was brutal and slowed you down to your destination as you were slightly dragging your black combat boots. You got a tip from someone that the next town over had some homes that the rich weren’t occupying at the moment. You might as well raid it if no one was there right?  You could tell Jeneora was suffering just from looking at the water they offered you with your beer. From the way you walked in everyone was looking at you.
You didn’t blame them since you dressed pretty differently in your forest green and white jacket that trailed down your thighs that hid your dark attire. You looked at the bartender and even she was pregnant and running the place herself. You looked at some of the kids and pitied them, no kid should have to struggle like this.
“So what brings someone like you here?” the bartender asked.
“Just doing some sightseeing before I see my family. I would have continued, but this heat is insane,” you replied. It wasn’t exactly a lie, but you couldn’t give away too much info.
“Yeah, that’s Jeneora for you. Sorry about the water. Our plant is busted somehow, so we’re stuck trying to buy water at the next town over,” she apologized as she cleaned some of the glasses.
You felt for her as you took a sip of your beer.
“How far along are you?” you asked looking at her swollen abdomen.
“Just a few more months until the baby arrives,” she replied rubbing her belly.
You thought about it and figured you might as well get some extra items once you make it to the next city.
Just then you heard a couple of men yelling from outside and sounded like it was coming closer. Three cops busted into the bar as you sighed. So much for the peace and quiet.
“Anyone seen the Humanoid Typhoon? If so start talking!” one of the guys shouted as the other guy held up a Wanted poster. You heard about Vash the Stampede and the rumors about him causing chaos in cities. You’ve seen that poster before, but honestly something felt off about it. You couldn’t place your finger on it, but as long as he didn’t get in your way you didn’t make a big deal out of it.
“Hey lady!” you heard someone shout by your ear.
You rolled your eyes before you turned around to see the cop was standing next to you with the wanted poster.
“Yes officer?” you asked.
“Have you seen him or not?” he asked.
“Hm maybe buy me a drink first and I might answer,” you replied getting closer to him as you put your hand on top of his hand that held the poster so he lowered it. That slightly caught him off guard as you made your next move.
“After all, someone as hard working as you must be tired after searching high and low in this hot weather. Why don’t you relax?” you added as you moved your hand to his back to move him closer to you. The guy was practically caught off guard as you took the chance to pick pocket him.
“You drive a hard bargain young lady,” he commented as you felt some double dollars in his pocket.
“Hey! Get a move on officer!” one of the men yelled as you retracted your hand.
“Maybe next time, but since you’re interested I might have seen him outside the city limit in the desert not too long ago. Saw that hairstyle and can’t mistake it,” you answered with a small smirk.
“Boss! We got a lead!” the guy said as he went back to the group and left.
You turned around to see the bartender looking at you with wide eyes.
“I honestly don’t know, I just made it up on the fly,” you told her as you finished your beer. You then flashed her some money that you stole from the officer.
“Courtesy of the loud mouth himself. Hopefully this helps with the water issue,” you mentioned as you took your leave.
Once you stepped out from the bar, you bumped into someone as you landed on the ground from the impact.
“Hey are you okay? I didn’t see you there!” you heard a panicked voice. You were annoyed with how your day was going, first a cop and now you got knocked to the ground without seeing it coming? You looked to see it was the wanted man himself. You couldn’t mistake that face anywhere , except you noticed how vibrant his blue eyes were even with his orange spectacles. He was tall as he loomed over you with his figure and his bright red jacket. You knew he was good looking, but the wanted poster didn’t do him justice when you were looking at him in person. He was way too beautiful to be a criminal.
He extended his prosthetic hand to you for grab as you looked at him. You grabbed his hand and felt how warm it was as he lifted you up.
“Are you hurt? Any bruises? Scratches?” he asked looking you up and down.  You dusted yourself off and checked your arms.
“No I’m okay, but watch where you’re going next time. You might bump into the wrong person,” you warned still keeping your guard up.
“Ahaha sorry about that. I was in a bit of hurry. But I’m glad you’re okay! The name is Vash,” he introduced himself with a smile. This guy was way too kind, and he seemed genuine when asking you those questions. Was he really that bad of a criminal? You were a bit hesitant to answer but you trusted your gut.
“The name is y/n, but it’s best you keep that information to yourself,” you replied. He gave you a confused look with his eye furrowing.
“I’ve got my reasons, but just a heads up. Some cops came by earlier here looking for you. I told them you went outside the city limits so best to stay away from that direction and hang low,” you told him as you put your hands in your pocket as you walked past him.
“Wait really? Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it y/n! I owe you!” he replied walking up to you with his face close to yours. You were startled by him and took a few steps back as your heart started racing.
“Oh, sorry about that! Force of habit,” he apologized as he chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. What an interesting guy.
“It’s nothing, but if you really want to treat me, do it the next time we meet,” you said half jokingly as you started walking away from him.
“Oh why not now?” he asked.
“I have some business I need to take care of outside of here. Can’t be late if I stay here any longer,” you mentioned as you looked back at him.
“Okay, well next I see you, dinner is on me!” he yelled while waving. You couldn’t help but chuckle at him.
“What makes you think we’ll meet again?” you ask.
“It’s a gut feeling!” he answered with a warm smile. You waved back and made your way to the next town over. There was no way he was worth that much or causes that much trouble with how much of goofball he was from that interaction you had. As you walked, you kept thinking about him and wondering if you would ever meet again.
~*~
You made it to the next city and found a few of the homes you targeted by nightfall with the help of a Thomas. You slipped into two homes and stole the necessities for your family, for some people at Jeneora, and a little for yourself. You were about to raid a third house until you heard the cops were nearby. You high tailed it out of the city making sure you weren’t being followed. You rode your Thomas to the desert and hid near one of the dunes despite the cold. You couldn’t risk staying in the city with how much stuff you took and with how you stood out from the crowd in your outerwear. You laid low and took a few detours just to be sure you were in the clear and that no one was tracking you.
Eventually you were able to see the outskirts of Jeneora as dawn broke. Finally some civilization and a place to rest instead of the endless sand. You placed your Thomas at a resting station, and made your way into the inner heart of the town.
“Hey! Have you seen this lady? She was in this city last time we saw her,” you heard someone call out. You looked to see the same group of officers interrogating the townspeople.
“She stole from the law and she’s wanted alive. If you know anything there’s a nice reward waiting for you,” the officer continued as the townsfolk studied the paper.
You cursed internally as you quietly jogged to some of the homes. You hoped to stay hidden long enough for them to leave. You could tell that they were searching and questioning everybody in the town. You kept running until you made eye contact with one of the city men. You were so screwed, you couldn’t take any chances as you ran as fast as possible. This was not how you wanted to go down as you looked for other hiding spots. Your mind was racing, how could you have been this sloppy with your work? As you ran, you felt someone grab your hand as you panicked.
“No! Let me-” before you could finish you were pulled inside a building and found your mouth being covered. You looked to see Vash was covering your mouth and gestured you to keep quiet as he peaked outside. You were so confused, you didn’t think this was how you meet with him again. You looked inside to see you were in the bar and found the bartender stepping outside not looking at both of you. Your heart was practically beating against your chest as you felt Vash pull you to his side while he kept your mouth covered. You squirmed, but Vash kept you in his hold as you were panicking internally. You didn’t know what was going to happen to you as you felt so helpless.
“Officer! I saw her ride a Thomas that way. You better hurry before you lose her again,” the bartender said as you heard the officers run away from the bar. Then, it was silent until you heard footsteps walk back into the bar. It was the lady as she smiled at you both.
“Coast is clear, we sent a pack of Thomas the other direction so they should be following that for awhile,” she told you as Vash let go of you with a sigh of relief. Your eyes widened as you slid down to the floor. Your breath was ragged, your mind was spinning, and your legs felt numb from the adrenaline. What in the world just happened? You thought
“Hey! Are you okay? Follow my breathing,” Vash asked as he grabbed both of your shoulders. He then started breathing slowly as you followed him with his inhales and exhales.
“Why did you help me? I'm a wanted criminal,” you finally spoke looking at him.
“You helped me remember? And you helped Rosa last time you were here,” Vash pointed as she came up to you.
“Anyone that’s a friend of Vash is a friend of mine that I can trust. Plus, that money helped with the water. We heard the commotion earlier, and Vash and I wanted to repay the favor,” she explained with a soft smile.
You looked at Vash as he was smiling at you.
“Can you stand?” he asked as you shook your head.
“I’m a little out of breath from running and everything else,” you explained as he grabbed your waist while you held onto his shoulder for support. He then led you to a table with a couple of seats for you to sit in. He gently sat you down as you thanked him.
“Well aren’t you both lifesavers, I really thought it was the end for me. I guess we’re even now,” you explained with a sigh of relief.
“Not exactly, I still gotta treat you to dinner, remember?” Vash mentioned.
“You still remember that? I was kinda joking about the whole owing me,” You asked and looked at him a bit taken a back.
“Well I meant what I said. I would treat you the next time I see you. I saw you earlier, and here we are,” Vash explained as he flashed you that toothy smile of his.
You stifled a chuckle as you looked away slightly.
“Okay then, a deal is a deal. Besides how can I turn down that offer when you saved me in a pinch,” you said and scooted closer to him.
“Great, because I’d like to know more about the person who helped me out earlier,” Vash said as he got comfortable to look at you.
“Good because I’d like to know more about the real Vash, not what the cops or rumors say about you,” you replied feeling safe around him
You didn’t think helping the most wanted man would lead to this, but now you were especially grateful to have bumped into him and earn a tasty meal out of it. You could afford to take a little detour before returning home anyway if it meant spending time with someone cute right?

I Choose You Wolfwood x Reader
Tumblr media
A/n: Not a request but something I've been meaning to write when I first watched Wolfwood get introduced. This is much different from what you’ve seen of my writing so far. Let me know what you think! I try to do gender neutral with the reader but for this piece I’m going to make the reader female. Also mild trigger warning for those who don’t have a great relationship with religion. There’s a scene where I get into it after the read more button. Read at your own discretion.
You had no idea the impact that Nicholas Wolfwood would have on your life when you met on that faithful day. You were just an ordinary medic, except you ran away from your home and the religion that you grew up. You couldn’t take it anymore with their teachings and being forced to help people you didn’t exactly felt comfortable with. You thought anywhere was better than living or working with a cultlike community. Eventually you bumped into Vash, Meryl, and Roberto and managed to join the rag tag of a team.
You were traveling with them through No Man’s Land like any other day until you bumped into a man holding what looked like a giant wrapped up cross. You didn’t notice as you were bummed by the whole Jeneora Rock incident. It wasn’t until you felt a huge bump and felt yourself jolt from the impact and shaking your thoughts away.
“WHAT HAPPENED?” you asked as you saw a man unconscious. Meryl accidentally ran into a guy and you were panicking. You were not going to let him die on your watch.
“Hey! Stay with me! Guys I can patch him up but I need a place to work on him!” you panicked as you were trying to keep the man alive. You rushed to get him treated, and ended up in a nearby plant to nurse him back to health. Eventually he regained consciousness as you looked him.
“Hey are you okay? How are you feeling?” you asked. The man looked at you in a daze.
“Am I in Heaven because I’m looking at the face of an angel,” he muttered. You practically blushed as you were checking him.
“Sorry to burst your bubble, but you’re still alive. I’m a medic that helped patch you up,” you explained trying to force your blush away. You then found out how he was “a priest”. You were very skeptical of him as you were still wary of religion, and kept your distance. It wasn’t until you saw a child within the area who asked to help bury their parents and say a eulogy for them you saw this man’s true colors.
“Uh...Heavenly Father who art in Heaven...” the priest began.
“Forgive us our sins o Lord, as we forgive those who sinned against us,” he continued as you furrowed your eyebrows. That was not how the Lord’s prayer went exactly, maybe it was a different iteration?
“Please welcome their souls and the souls of all those who have faithfully departed...Into your...in your...what is it? Welcome them into your humble abode...into your prayer gates,” he said.
You opened your eyes to peak at what the heck this man was saying as Vash and Meryl were all giving each other confused looks. You knew for sure, this guy was not a priest with what he was saying.
“Deliver unto them...Deliverance...not quite but I’m getting there,” the man tried to continue but he faltered as his “cross” was leaning towards the ground as he tried to catch it. You couldn’t take it anymore as you and Meryl smacked him on the head.
“SOME PRIEST YOU ARE! THAT’S NOT EVEN THE CORRECT WAY TO SAY THE LORD’S PRAYER!” you yelled at him.
“Oh? And just what makes you say that?” he asked growling at you while rubbing his head.
“For your information this is how you start it! In the name of the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit! Our Father, who art in Heaven,” you began as you did the hand motions to start. You recited it just like how your parents taught you all those years. Hell, you even added your twist to the eulogy with praying that the people who passed find peace and rest in their next chapter.
“Now that’s how you do a prayer and eulogy, got it?!” you yelled at him with your hands on your hips and walked back with the group. The “priest” just stared at you with a slight growl and tched as he grabbed his “cross”.
Little did you know after that whole ordeal, one thing led to another. There was the whole worm incident and how the man’s “cross” was some other worldly high tech weapon that can obliterate a worm. He practically rescued you when you got lost, and freed everyone from being trapped in the worm. You were just speechless when you witnessed him using it as he chuckled at your shocked face.
“Cat got your tongue angel?” he commented with that shit eating grin.
“I have a name you know, it’s y/n,” you retorted.
“The name is Nicholas D. Wolfwood, don’t forget it angel,” he replied forever calling you that nickname that irked you.
You’ve been traveling with him for quite awhile and started to learn more about him. Despite his tough exterior he’s got a soft side. You learned he was an orphan and how he had a soft spot for kids. Seeing him trying to get kids to look at the brighter side or cheering them up warmed your heart. It was one of the things that made you want to spend more time with him despite how much you bickered with each other. Little did you know your crush for him only grew bigger the more you spent time with him.
Eventually you started growing fond of him, and practically knew him. But he didn’t know you or your background. You figured you wouldn’t bring it up unless he did. You took a pit stop at a town bar one day. Both of you sat next to each other grabbing a drink, just enjoying each other’s company while the others did their own thing.
“Hey, remember when we first met?” Wolfwood asked.
“Yeah, how can I forget? We practically ran you over and found out you were a shitty priest,” you chuckled.
“Yeah, but you know something’s been bugging me since we met. What’s your story? You practically know religion from the back of your hand perfectly. Doesn’t make sense why you’re with us when you’re not at a church,” he continued. You gripped your drink slightly as you looked down. You knew this was going to be brought up sooner or later. You took a deep breath and gathered your thoughts.
“I ran away from home and my religion. To say my family is overly religious is an understatement. I practically grew up with it and was forced to learn the customs early on. At first I thought what I was doing was normal until I made some friends and realized the way we practiced was excessive. I was always uncomfortable with the people I went to at church. I never felt welcomed, I felt judged constantly like everyone focused on my mistakes and never my accomplishments. It’s like I had to keep up appearances or I get lectures,” you started. You can feel your hand gripping your clothes. Remembering or even talking about religion always made you tense.
“Sorry, it’s a bit TMI, I know,” you apologized as you took a swig of your drink.
“No it’s not, I had no idea you went through that. Continue, I’m listening” he answered as his shades hid his eyes and showed your reflection.
“I was sick and tired of being told what was right and wrong in their eyes. It just felt like I wasn’t living my life how I wanted. I wanted to be free, and decided to run away. I haven’t looked back since then and I’m glad I bumped into this group. I haven’t felt so comfortable being myself in a long time. I felt welcomed, and I can choose who to help instead of being forced to. I’m actually helping people who need it you know? So when you first introduced yourself as a priest, I was a bit scared of you. But after learning more about you, I’m glad you’re not a priest telling me my soul is going to rot in hell,” you continued as you let out a small chuckle.
“Can’t forget how you hit me when you found out. You left a nasty bruise that day. But I like someone who can put up a fight,” Wolfwood commented as he pulled out a cigarette and started smoking. Thankfully, he blew his smoke away from you as he knew how much you didn’t like it. You blushed with what he said and nudged him.
“Knock it off!” you whined as he chuckled.
“But seriously though, I didn’t know you had to go through that. I can see why you would leave. Sorry for bringing that up,” he replied rubbing his neck.
“I mean you were going to find out sooner or later, but honestly I’m glad I’m far away from home now. Meeting everyone here has been great. But I guess you don’t want to hang with some ex-church member after finding out huh?” you brought up and looked away from him. You understood if he didn’t want to be near you.
“I don’t care about that crap. I think it’s brave of you to leave something like that. That takes guts,” he answered looking you dead on.
“Wait, you mean it?” you asked.
“Dead serious. I think it’s brave that the person who brought me back to life did all that and is with us,” he explained as he smoked again. Maybe it was the alcohol, but you felt yourself get hot as a blush crept to your cheeks. You didn’t know if he was actually serious like he said, but you figured you might as well enjoy it before he goes back to being his usual self again the next day.
"Thanks that means a lot Wolfwood. I’m glad we met. I can’t thank you for the amount of times you kept me safe,” you muttered that last part thinking he didn’t hear it. You saw Wolfwood rub your hair and turn away as you told him to quit it. He then raised his beer and looked you in the face looking a bit red.
“Toast for new beginnings,” he said waiting for you to do the same.
“To new beginnings and good company,” you added as you clinked his glass and drank the night away.
~*~
The next morning, you went to go grab some medical supplies for the group before heading out to the next city. You wanted to go alone and not bother anyone since you wanted to take care of things as soon as possible. You were about to head back until you stopped in your tracks when your eyes locked on to someone you least expected.
“Do my eyes deceive me? Is that you y/n?”
You couldn’t believe that the priest from your old church was right there standing across from you.
“No, it can’t be. Why are you here?” you asked taking a step back.
“Oh come now, is that how you welcome me after we’ve been searching for you? After all, I practically knew you since you were born. We miss you and your parents as well. Why don’t you come back with us and leave this wretched town? You’re wasting your efforts on saving people who don’t deserve to be saved,” he offered.
You were practically frozen in your tracks, horrified that this was real and not some nightmare.
“That’s not true, I’ve helped so many people who deserve a second chance. You only let me help people you wanted to save and shunned people who really needed it. I had to watch people suffer when we turned them away when we easily could have helped them. What you did was not right or godly! You made people suffer!” you argued shaking from anger and fear.
“I see you’re still going through a rebellious phase. You should know that suffering brings us closer to God remember? As for helping people in need… You say that, yet how would those same people felt if they knew the real you?” he asked as you felt your stomach do knots.
“That’s right, no one would understand you but us my dear. A runaway who abandoned their parents, church, and community just so they can explore the world? I don’t think people would like that now would they? No matter, if you come back I’ll forgive you of all your sins and the trouble you’ve caused since you left. You wouldn’t want to upset your parents more do you? After all, they’ve been a laughing stock ever since you left us. Maybe they’ll forgive you if you’re obedient again. Even your friends, they’ve all been punished by your leave. It’s your fault you know. You brought this upon yourself” he continued as you felt the guilt crawling up your neck. You dropped your supplies and looked at the ground feeling trapped. He knew how to get in your head. You hate how he still had a hold of you mentally. You didn’t realize how your departure would affect other people. Were you causing more harm than good?
“That’s what I thought, I’ll take that as a yes. Let’s bring you home shall we?” the priest spoke as he walked closer to you. Your heart was racing as you were screaming to get your body to move. This is not what you wanted, but you were paralyzed with these overwhelming emotions and thoughts. Maybe this was for the best? Maybe you were being a burden? Did you even consider how others felt about you joining them?
SLAP!
You looked up to see Wolfwood was in front of you and how he slapped the priest’s face.
“Wolfwood...” you spoke.
“Take another step towards ‘em and I’ll be sending you a one way ticket to the afterlife, and I guarantee you’re not going to Heaven,” Wolfwood threatened.
“How dare you hit a messenger of God! You must be one of the people who’s been filling their head with nonsense. Let me guess, Y/b must have sold you the sob story about how horrible we were just so they can follow those selfish desires,” the priest hissed.
“Shut up! Some priest you are! You say you miss Y/n and that you’ll forgive ‘em, yet here you are making them feel like it’s their fault for everything? For the record, Y/n has saved more people than you can count compared to your stupid cult! I trust them more than someone who claims to be symbol of God,” Wolfwood spat back.
“And just who are you to insult me?” the priest asked.
“I’m the Punisher! I make a better priest than you fool! And for the record, you didn’t even ask Y/n to choose asshole! Y/n is a person who can make their own decisions! Let them decide who they want to be with,” Wolfwood offered.
“Fine then, y/n who do you choose? Your family and community that truly know you or this unholy man you barely met?” the priest asked. You looked at Wolfwood as he looked behind you with his hand reaching out to yours. The priest did the same as you bit your thumb. You then looked at Wolfwood again as he said something only you could hear. “Whatever you choose, I respect. Just know, I felt like I was the luckiest guy on No Man’s Land when you took care of me that day we meet. I meant everything I said last night. Anyone is lucky to have you with them, including me...y/n,” he spoke.
Your glossy eyes widened as you felt your mouth quiver. You were shaking, but hearing those words did something to you. How could you possibly forget about last night? The fact that he was serious and not influenced by the alcohol made you realize something. Wolfwood accepted you for who you were. He listened to you and gave you the time of day. He didn’t judge you when you opened up about your past. He liked you for you. You ran to Wolfwood and held on to him for dear life as you buried your head on his chest.
“I choose you! I choose you Wolfwood! I will always choose you!” you managed to let out as you started crying. You felt him hold you tight as he caressed your hair.
“Don’t worry, you’re safe with me angel,” he reassured and then looked at the priest.
“If you lay one finger on ‘em, or if I so much catch you trying to guilt trip Y/n again, I’ll skin you alive and play with your bones until you’re dead. You’re lucky I didn’t bring my weapon or I would shoot you on the spot. You got that?!” Wolfwood sneered as he held you close to his side.
The priest staggered as he took a step back and ran the other direction as he looked in fear. Hopefully that was the last you would ever see of him.
“Hey, you’re okay now. He’s gone,” Wolfwood said as you felt your legs give out from how mentally and emotionally exhausted you were.
“How did you know I was here?” you asked.
“You took too long and figured something happened. Glad I went looking for you,” he said as he picked up your things and put it in your bag. You tried to stop crying, but no luck. You then saw Wolfwood give you one of his lollipops.
“Take it, you need it after today. It’s your favorite flavor anyway,” he offered. You popped the sweet candy into your mouth.
“Thank you Wolfwood,” you managed to speak as you tried to stop the tears from flowing.
“Can you stand?” He asked as you shook your head.
He then picked you up bridal style leaving you flustered. You figured he was strong enough to carry you since he carried that machine gun of his all the time. But him carrying you? That’s a first.
“Save it, let’s get you back with the others. Plus, I meant what I said back there earlier. I’m not letting anyone hurt the person I care about so long as you’re with me. Got it?” he said as he carried you back to the hotel you were staying at. he held a firm grip on you making sure you were secure in his arms.
You held on to him on the way back just listening to his heart beat. You were lucky to have him. He kept you safe and sound after everything that happened. You felt yourself getting sleepy, but you also kept true to your word. If you could choose all over again, you would always choose him.
