Cozytober Day 3: Hot Chocolate

“You just had to make a mess on your way, didn’t you?” Jason asked as he stepped over Danny’s shed clothing.

“Yes,” Danny said, just to be cheeky.

He could be cheeky with Jason. Jason might huff and puff or snark back, but it was always in good fun with each other. Somethings were off limits, but they’d both made a deal to be honest about what those were. So far it had worked out.

Jason sighed. “Leave me to clean up your mess after you, carry you around, make you hot chocolate…”

“Hot chocolate?” Danny asked, sitting up in Jason’s arms. Jason’s hot chocolate was a thing of the divine.

“Mhum,” Jason agreed with a hum as he dropped Danny carefully onto the couch.

Danny let himself lay there like a dead fish as he tried to give Jason his best puppy dog eyes.

“Put those eyes away,” Jason said with a chuckle. He leaned down and pressed a kiss right between Danny’s eyes. “I already said I’d make it. Do you want the works?”

“Yes,” Danny said. He shifted a little on the couch so that he could still watch Jason as he moved over to the kitchen area of the open plan space. “Your day?”

“Oh. It was okay,” Jason said as he gathered what he needed and put a pot on the stove. “I think that we’re finally making some real progress on the plans for the affordable housing. There’s a place in German that does a lot of what we want and need in their prefab walls. Obviously shipping that far would make it cost prohibitive, but they seem interested in maybe setting up a workshop here as long as Gotham helps with the initial costs. It might be a good deal in the end for both them and the city.”

“That’s great!” Danny knew how hard Jason had been working at this project, and how many times there had been insurmountable seeming roadblocks.

“It really is. And a new industry means new jobs. We might be able to tie it in with the workforce alternative we’ve got started with the court system too. I might also be counting my chickens before they hatch but…”

“Hope.”

“Yeah, but hope,” Jason agreed softly.

“Proud of you,” Danny said.

He could see Jason’s ears flush all he way from the couch. Danny tried to tell Jason he was as proud of him as often a he could, both because of the cute response but because Danny didn’t think Jason knew how good he was.

“Nothings don’t yet,” Jason said.

“Proud. Of. You,” Danny said with pointed enunciation.

Jason muttered an adorable grumble as he fussed with breaking up the real chocolate bar that he used in the hot chocolate. Danny closed his eyes and just listened to Jason moving around, out of words the moment. One of the reasons he liked being at Jason’s more than his tiny shoe box was the noise of someone else moving around him.

“Up we go, boo,” Jason urged softly some time later.

Danny cracked a wide yawn and used the moment of swinging his legs off the couch to get himself somewhat sitting up. Jason slotted into place beside Danny and helped prop him up before he tipped back over again. Danny happily burrowed in against Jason’s broad shoulder.

“Eyes open,” Jason said.

Resisting a grumble, Danny opened his eyes and took the large mug in front of his face. He cradled it for a moment, just enjoying the warmth, before he took a long, slow sip. The richness of chocolate and warmth of spice bloomed over his tongue. Danny let out a happy sigh.

“The best.”

Jason chuckled. “You just like me for my hot chocolate.”

“Lies. Also have a very nice co—”

“Danny!” Jason admonished between a bout of startled laughter.

Danny grinned to himself, proud as always to make Jason laugh like that, free and bright. He rewarded himself with another sip of his drink.

Loki shot into a sitting position, then thrashed against the heavy covers that entangled him.

"Wh-What?" he gasped. He peered over the pile of covers, through the dark room, to the crack in the giant door. He blinked a few times, then finally focused on the little blonde boy who stood in the gap, his nightgown trailing on the floor.

"What are you doing in Mother and Father's bed?" Thor demanded in a whisper. Loki rubbed his eyes with both hands, then frowned at his brother.

"It's thundering."

Thor snorted.

"You're afraid of thunder?"

"Are you?" Loki shot back.

"Ha—No."

"Then why are you here?"

"I came to see how Mother is,"

Thor said defensively, then glanced around. "But…maybe she's still upstairs with the healers. You think Father's with her?"

"Probably," Loki said. Thor nodded, then lowered his head. Loki hesitated.

"Want to wait with me till he comes back?"

“Yes!" Thor said, and darted in, his little feet padding on the carpet, and then he clambered up on the bed next to Loki. Though Thor was bigger than his brother, the bed still dwarfed both boys. Thor flopped back onto the massive pillows and let out a huge sigh, staring up at the ceiling. Loki leaned back onto a similar fluffy pillow and glanced over at him—he could still see him by the light from the hallway.

"I don't remember you being born," Loki remarked. Thor rolled his eyes.

"That's because I was born before you."

Loki frowned.

"So you remember me being born?" he said.

Thor stopped, then pursed his lips.

"No. I don't ever remember you not being born."

"Maybe we're twins," Loki mused.

"We're not twins," Thor said. "We don't look anything alike."

"Oh," Loki said softly. Thor rolled over onto his side and thumped the pillow with his fist.

"Boy or a girl?"

"Huh?" Loki shot him a look. He could only see half of Thor's face now—his blue eyes looked very awake.

"Will Mother have a boy or a girl?" Thor clarified.

Loki thought for a moment.

"Boy."

"Why?"

"Because we're boys—she likes boys," Loki reasoned.

"I hope so," Thor sighed. "I don't want a stupid girl following us around."

They were quiet for a troubled moment.

"I heard them talking about a name," Loki said.

"What name?"

"Balder."

"What does that mean?"

"Something pretty. Like flowers or summer or something," Loki told him.

"Ugh," Thor grunted. "It must be a girl, then."

They both groaned in despair.

Their troubled silence got worse.

"I wonder if they'll change our places," Loki murmured.

"Hm?"

"Around the table," Loki said, watching Thor. "I wonder if they'll move me down, or across the table, or—"

Thor was already shaking his head hard.

"No, no, no," he insisted. "No. You sit next to me. Forever. Promise,"

Thor reached over and patted Loki's head. Loki sighed, relieved.

"Good," Loki murmured.

"Father will be back soon," Thor said.

"Mhum."

"I'm going to close my eyes for a little bit."

"Me too," Loki whispered.

And though they both fought it valiantly, it was only a matter of moments before they both drifted off to sleep in their parents' soft, wide bed.

The fond memory curls the trickster’s lip. Then, he chuckles with quiet and breathy delight at the frightened mortal, shrugging elegantly. "I am afraid I've little sway over my brother's caprices," Loki apologizes, as he turns to observe the turbulent weather through the leaded window panes. A fingernail picks relentlessly at a callus in his left hand. A quiet smile grows. "Rain is one of my great comforts. I suppose it is all in associations, yes? For all our quarrels, Thor has been one of the great comforts of my life, if only by being a constant."

Feeling something like sympathy for the poor mortal, he extends an arm out, palm up, and twists his wrist. The green glow of his seidr immediately rolls over his body and crawls its way up the walls before it disappears through the ceiling above. Deafening the clash of thunder outside. “A simple silencing spell is what I can offer, dear one. It will dissolve once the storm has passed. Take care.” With a nod, Loki disappears in a shimmer of green light.

Sidoarjo, Siap TV ,- Tarian Remo sambut kedatangan Presiden LSM LIRA KRH. HM. Jusuf Rizal pada Rapimnas LSM LIRA tahun 2024. Selain menyambut kedatangan Presiden LSM LIRA, tari remo yang ditampilkan juga sebagai penanda dibukanya Rapimnas yang digelar di The Sun Hotel, Sidoarjo pada Rabu, (26/06/24).

Pada Rapimnas LSM LIRA tahun 2024 yang berlangsung di Kota Delta, Sidoarjo juga dihadiri oleh berbagai tokoh penting, diantaranya Gubernur LSM LIRA Jawa Timur yang baru saja terpilih Samsudin, Bupati LSM LIRA Sidoarjo Winarno ST. SH. MHum., serta perwakilan dari DPP, DPW dan DPD LSM LIRA se- Indonesia.

Turut hadir tamu undangan pada pelaksanaan Rapimnas LSM LIRA 2024 antaralain Ketua DPRD Kabupaten Sidoarjo H. Usman, Polresta Sidoarjo yang diwakili AKP Hafid Dian Maulidi, dari Ormas Pemuda Pancasila H. Mursidi, FKPPI Joko, DPD PDI-P Sumi, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan serta Kodim Sidoarjo, sehingga menambah semarak berlangsungnya acara ini.

Presiden LSM LIRA KRH. HM Jusuf Rizal SH dalam sambutannya pada Rapimnas tersebut menekankan terkait pentingnya konsolidasi kepengurusan dan program kerja setelah pelaksanaan Rapimnas selesai, terutama program kerja di Jawa Timur.

"Setelah Rapimnas ini, kita akan melakukan konsolidasi kepengurusan dan program, termasuk di Jawa Timur. Diharapkan Jawa Timur dapat menjadi percontohan bagi LSM LIRA di daerah lain," ujar Jusuf Rizal.

Ditegaskan kembali oleh Presiden LSM LIRA, agar program-program terbaik seperti "1 Desa 1 Jurnalis" segera dijalankan. Sepertihalnya komitmen untuk mengawal janji politik dari presiden dan wakil presiden terpilih Prabowo-Gibran dalam melawan korupsi.

"Sebagai lembaga social society kita akan terus mengawal, mengawasi dan mendorong pembangunan Indonesia dan menjaga negeri ini," tambahnya.

Gubernur LSM LIRA Jawa Timur yang baru saja terpilih, Samsudin, menyatakan kesanggupannya untuk menjalankan roda organisasi sesuai misi dan visi serta arahan dari Presiden LSM LIRA.

"Saya siap memimpin dan menjalankan roda organisasi dengan penuh tanggung jawab dan sesuai arahan Presiden LSM LIRA. Kami akan membangun konsolidasi antar anggota untuk memastikan semua program dan kebijakan dapat berjalan dengan baik dan efektif," ujar Samsudin.

Gubernur LSM LIRA Jatim Samsudin dengan tegas kembali menyampaikan komitmen serta visi dan misinya untuk membangun LSM LIRA Jawa Timur sampai ke pelosok-pelosok. Pada kepemimpinannya, dalam 100 hari kerja ia akan turun mengevaluasi kinerja DPD Kabupaten dan kota di Jawa Timur.

Samsudin juga menambahkan bahwasannya LSM LIRA Jawa TImur memiliki potensi besar untuk bisa dikembangkan sehingga bisa menjadi percontohan bagi daerah lainnya dalam mengimplementasikan program-program LSM LIRA.

"Jawa Timur memiliki sumber daya manusia yang luar biasa dan semangat kebersamaan yang tinggi. Saya yakin dengan kerja keras dan kerja cerdas serta kolaborasi semua pihak, kita bisa menjadikan Jawa Timur sebagai model keberhasilan LSM LIRA," jelasnya.

Perubahan positif diharapkan akan terjadi dengan adanya pergantian kepemimpinan kepengurusan di Jawa Timur dan bisa menjadi contoh bagi LSM LIRA daerah-daerah lain dalam mengimplementasikan program strategis yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat.

Dengan terlaksananya Rapimnas LSM LIRA 2024 diharapkan bisa memperkuat konsolidasi dan sinergi antara pengurus LSM LIRA di semua tingkatan. Diharapkan juga dapat memperkokoh komitmen organisasi untuk membangun Indonesia yang lebih baik lagi.

Mengulik Asal Usul Tradisi Angpao Lebaran

iBenews.id - Hari raya Idulfitri atau yang dikenal dengan lebaran menjadi momen yang dinanti setelah sebulan penuh menjalankan puasa. Lebaran identik dengan bagi-bagi angpau yang dikemas dengan amplop lucu berwarna-warni. Lalu, dari mana munculnya kebiasaan memberikan angpau saat lebaran ini? Dosen Ilmu Sejarah Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Moordiati SS MHum mengatakan bahwa tidak ditemukan adanya catatan sejarah mengenai angpau lebaran. Tapi ada cerita bahwa sosok kaisar yang datang ke Jawa dan memberi uang tapi sebagai tanda tali asih. Hal ini semakin berkembang dan diadopsi menjadi orang yang lebih tua memberi kepada yang lebih muda sebagai tanda kasih sayang. “Kemudian kalau tidak ada angpau saat lebaran rasanya hambar,” katanya. Akulturasi Budaya Pada budaya Islam tidak ada mengenai hal ini. Pemberian angpau saat lebaran merupakan hasil dari perpaduan antara budaya Islam dan tionghoa. “Pemberian ini sebenarnya adopsi dari kebudayaan Islam dan tionghoa. Hasil akulturasi ini yang berkembang sampai saat ini,” terangnya. Moordiati menambahkan bahwa dahulu pemberian angpau pada lebaran sebagai hadiah dari orang tua kepada anaknya karena telah menjalankan puasa sebulan lamanya. Namun seiring berjalannya waktu sesuatu yang orang anggap hadiah kini menjadi keharusan. “Lama-lama kemudian ini tidak lagi sebagai hadiah ya. Sekarang kalau tidak memberi angpau kesannya bukan seperti hari raya,” paparnya. Pemberian angpau lebaran juga dapat menjadi gambaran status sosial seseorang. Apabila status sosialnya tinggi maka nominal uang yang diberikan akan semakin tinggi. “Sekarang sudah ada kategorinya, bisa dikatakan status sosial semakin tinggi tidak memberi 5 ribu tapi 50 ribu misalnya,” ujarnya. Penggunaan Uang Baru Pemberian angpau lebaran menggunakan uang baru saat ini sedang tren. Bahkan jasa penukaran uang menjelang lebaran tengah menjamur di berbagai daerah. Tren ini ternyata berkembang sekitar tahun 90an, masyarakat lebih nyaman menggunakan uang baru dari pada uang lama karena menganggap lebih pantas. “Hari raya yang identik dengan sesuatu yang suci. Makanya semuanya serba baru seperti baju, sepatu, hingga uang baru,” jelasnya. “Orang berpikiran bahwa alangkah lebih baik memberi seseorang dengan sesuatu yang baru dari pada yang lama. Makanya jasa penukaran uang baru sekarang sedang menjamur,” imbuhnya. Meski demikian dampak positif dan negatif tetap mengiringi berjalannya budaya ini. Dampak positif dari pemberian angpau lebaran dapat meningkatkan semangat untuk bersilaturahmi. Namun Moordiati menuturkan silaturahmi tidak lagi dengan niat sebagai silaturahmi saja. “Negatifnya niat silaturahmi jadi tidak murni dan hal ini tidak mendidik,” tuturnya. Sementara dampak negatif dari pemberian angpau ialah menjadikan mental seseorang menjadi mental seorang peminta. “Ini menarik karena dapat menjadikan mentalitas seseorang sebagai peminta. Jadi ke rumah sanak saudara meminta untuk diberi uang. Meskipun saat pemberian ada aturannya harus baris-berbaris atau lainnya,” tutupnya. (iB-4) Read the full article
