Quick Update, the MHA campaign is gonna go through a reboot after some stuff came up last session, so I’ll tell mostly about said reboot now, that it’s counting also with us being in the past….vigilantism during the dawn of quirks and all….Enyo’s still gonna be played but not the same as before

Character for an MHA/BNHA-themed DND campaign.
Their name is Hapi (after the nonbinary god of the flooding Nile), and their quirk is the plagues of Egypt, but they can only use them in order and can't really control them yet.
Don't let them get to the 10th plague.

Headcanon that Shigaraki loves rpgs and plays DnD with the League of Villains, and if they skip a session he threatens to dust their asses. The seriousness he takes DnD night with is so much that it’s what they did the first night Bakugo was held captive with them. They put off talking to him so they wouldn’t miss that week’s session (they probably offered for Bakugo to play too)
Shigaraki probably also metagames so Kurogiri, who DMs, has two screens to ward him off

How I Would Turn David Shield From My Hero Academia Into A Masks A New Generation Character
This is what happens when I’m fixating on Two Heroes, haven’t been able to play Masks in months, and am desperately trying to avoid doing homework
This is how I would make a character in masks a new generation based off of David Shield
Playbook: The Brain
For the ability, out of the options select hi-tech vehicle and design it based off of the vehicle he is shown operating in the opening scenes of the Two Heroes movie
For the initial three moves they are all generic enough, especially considering how little we actually know about David Shield, that I think you could start with any combo but I personally would start with:
Above The Fray (if you have influence over your teams battle leader you can provide tactical input to add Team to the pool)- I think this one fits well with how Shield is a sidekick to All Might rather than like an independent hero
Scientific Insight (you have a field that is your specialty and can ask follow up questions in asses the situation when related to that field)- I’d take this and for the specialty pick biotechnology/power biology or something related to that (talk to your gm) because of his research regarding quirks in the movie, as well as his tech that interacts with quirks
Always Prepared (when you have time to restock supplies you gain two gadgets you can spend to make a small invention by unleashing your powers)- I mostly pick this one because I feel like it just helps for a well rounded character to play but I also think it fits because of David Shields focus on hero support tech
When it comes to the Shame, I have two ideas depending on how closely you want to base it off of him
For a closer match, select Catastrophic Weapon as the shame, and use the quirk enhancer he made in Two Heroes to help All Might that has fallen into villains hands (talk to your gm)
For something farther but still fun, use the same device and give your character a friend who is losing their power and accepts this device when offered for them, but something goes horribly wrong and it corrupts/takes over the friend and causes them to basically go haywire, and make the option Altered Former Ally
As you level up you’ll take the rest of the moves from your playbook, do that in whatever order is natural for your campaign, but you can also get a Sanctuary from the Doomed playbook and Drives from the Beacon playbook so here is how I would go about that
For Drives many of them could fit, and again pick whatever is best for your campaign, but what I would select are
Help a teammate when they most need you- plays off of how he wanted to help all might with that device
Even the respect of a hero you admire- with how much David looks up to all might even so long after they’ve been together I think this would be fitting
Get a new hero name- help cement himself as a hero rather than tech support
Less team successfully in battle- with him being tech support or sidekick so often, this would be good to have him step into that leader role
For the Sanctuary I would pick his lab, whether it is isolated somewhere like I-Island or not is up to you and your gm
For the three features I would pick useful tools, a powerful computer, and healing equipment, all things I think would make sense to find in the lab of someone in his position
So that’s how I would do it, I’d love to hear what yall think
Do you agree? Disagree? Something you would do differently? Would you play a character like this?

Hey! I really like this account and the stuff you have been doing. May I have a SFW romantic CRK, MHA, or Mystic Messenger matchup?
I go by He/Him pronouns and I am gay (MLM). 1 am 5'5" and chubby. I have my hair cut short and plan on dying it soon. I often wear piercings, using only ear piercings. I often wear nice button ups with sweater vests or just horror movie shirts.
I would describe myself as introverted, but not necessarily shy. I am a very blunt person, which has caused some people to like me while others don’t. Though I just prefer to relax alone. I am overly cautious with myself and the people I love due to conditions I have lived with. So, I accidentally come off as too paranoid. I am intelligent and often love literature and media because of it. I am very much an artistic but also a writer.
I like spicy food, world building, fantasy stories, sci-fi settings, coffee, cats, supernatural stuff, RPGs, niche RPGs, TTRPGs (not just d&d), vintage wear, good cooking, taxidermy, rocks, horror movies, horror books, card games, niche history, niche internet cartoons, old rock music, metal music, unique art, stop motion, and anime.
I dislike overly sweet foods, the "I ain't reading all of that" or "it ain't that deep" type of person. anybody who thinks cartoons and/or horror have any real substance to them, minimalism, most romance movies, toxic positivity, and people who chew with their mouths open.
My hobbies are media dissection, writing, playing TTRPGs (both as a player and a GM/DM), drawing, playing video games, making them too, binge watching horror movies, and collecting vintage items.
I’m just going to do Mystic Messenger so if you want another fandom you can just resubmit with a different fandom you want!
I’m going to match you with . . .

Yoosung !
- okay I don’t like Yoosung that much but I am going to TRY MY BEST!
- When he first met you he was probably lowkey intimidated because of how blunt you can be and he’s a very sensitive guy.
- But he was determined to be your friend because you looked like you needed some! (not in a bad way)
- A while after being friends, he’s stuck to you like glue!
- He grows to admire how intelligent you are especially when it comes to media dissection! Because that’s a rare breed now.
- HATESSS toxic positivity! But that’s just because he likes giving genuine and straightforward compliments! Especially if it’s for a special cool person such as yourself!
- In his pining stage he probably starts to steal certain articles of your clothing when you aren’t looking. Most likely one of your sweater vests.
- Also becomes a lot more touchy, while making sure you’re comfortable of course!
- But when I say a lot I mean a LOT! Like at every greeting and farewell he hugs you and when you guys are walking together he wraps an arm around yours as he claims it’s so “he doesn’t get lost”, but I think we all know the real reason.
- When ur in a relationship:
- I’m sorry when I say this… But he probably chews with his mouth open because he’s trying to talk and eat at the same time. You’re going to have to be the one to tell him to swallow his food before he talks. 😭
- On another note, COFFEE DATES ARE A MUST!
- He doesn’t really like coffee though because of its bitter taste, so he orders hot chocolate instead thinking you don’t notice and spoiler alert, you do. 😭
- HE WOULD NEVVVVEEERRRR say “I ain’t readin allat” or anything like that because he is your #1 simp bruh. He IS readin allat!
- Takes your feelings seriously to because again he’s a very sensitive guy. So you will never hear him invalidate your feelings because why tf would he?! You are entitled to feel whatever you want!
- Also likes playing games with you. I don’t know what they’re called, but you know those meetings or cons where they all gather to play? Yeah he goes with you to those.
- He never knows what’s going on though, poor Yoosung 😭
- Confused, but happily cheering you on because you’re amazing!
- Boundaries with him are also important, keep in mind he’s mentally ill and will probably cling to you a lot more. So you will have to ask for space when you need it because he doesn’t get subtle hints.
Yoosung whines. A lot.
You were trying to get out of bed to start getting ready for a meet up with game friends, but he wouldn’t have it!
“Don’t goooo!” Yoosung whined. He was upset because you couldn’t take him with you this time. So to prevent you from leaving, he had his arms wrapped tight around your waist. You didn’t listen, standing up from the bed and kissing his forehead softly. But he wasn’t giving up!
He stayed with you through that whole morning, trying to constantly put his hands on you, but you would always swat them away when you were doing something!
Eventually you were preparing to leave and he was at his wits end. He tested out one last trick.
That’s how you found yourself passionately kissing your boyfriend, he was not giving you any room to even speak. It was kiss after kiss. You gently nudged him away with your arms and he whined loudly, immediately going back in for another kiss. Soo… Now you had to cancel your plans.

Should I dig out the old ttrpg I was making a few years ago? After some thinking, rather than my original idea of a time travel game, I think the combat system I designed would work better for anime style combat, like from DBZ, Naruto, or MHA.

It strikes me that part of the reason why "what if magic HURT YOU TO USE (head exploding gif)" takes annoy me is that. That was already part of the modern fantasy genre going to jolkein rolkien rolkien tolkein. Like. That was. A huge part of the trilogy, yeah? Frodo's nigh incapacitated by the ring for most of the journey. In constant pain. Everyone else knowing that he had the hardest task.
And there's so many takes about deciding you're annoyed at dnd healing being a matter of game resource management rather than breaking your own bones like deku in the beginning of mha that i can take now. as i have in fact. Tried and failed to portray that in a transformative way. And found that it does not gel with actual productive storytelling if you aren't actually making it a central theme of the story. I haven't gotten into dungeon meshi but as far as i can tell. That healing magic is so taxing for the reciever that you need to have immense calorie intake (which costs money) is one of the primary elements in the story. There's no need to force it into your ttrpg if it doesn't synergize, and you just don't want to be conventional and stupid like those dumb jock dnd players addicted to nat 20s.
There's also. The x-men effect. Which is to say. When you add (magic) powers to the situation. It can muddy the themes. The x-men are a metaphor for marginalized people but they're also living weapons so their persecution has textual justification. But also the power fantasy gets saccharine with no element of being grounded, and so the persecution is necessary for the reader to connect. But if the mutants all had dinky little powers or small cosmetic differences and the story was about that same level of persection, it would be about all that pain these people were feeling without it being anything more than a weirdly removed one-to-one metaphor for irl bigotry. And at that point. Very much not a superhero story.
Which is sort of how i feel about the genre twist take economy. If i wanted magic to be such a close metaphor for chronic pain or the adhd hyperfocus/burnout cycle that it literally is that with the occasional plot device. I personally would probably just go read literary fiction or contemporary romance with disabled protagonists already. I dont need a witch hat thrown on top. Especially if i go to a fantasy story for immersive worldbuilding and the interplay of power at a scale that's wide enough to feel epic but defined enough to be conceivable, solvable and satisfying. And you're pitching me a story about a contest of who can work through a migraine bestest of all.

I find your tagging system fascinating /pos would you care to elaborate on/explain it?
Oh well tbh its mostly just for my own refrence, the majority are inspiration stuff for various ttrpg games id like to run some day. This'll probably ruin the mystique, but here's some of the most common ones-
Dungeonpunk- more of an aesthetic or vibe, for the sort of stuff i think would be neat to see in a western fantasy style game like DnD. Sort of a mix of eastern artist's take on the genre, stuff like fromsoft games or old fantasy anime and rpgs, plus that sort of casually anachronistic vibe. Ive described the energy as being like, dungeon crawling with a sword and shield, but while also wearing a hoodie and sneakers. Saved for inspiration not just for dnd, but other ttrpgs like Fellowship, Dungeon Bitches and more.
Motw- Monster of the Week, a ttrpg you may be familiar with based on urban fantasy mystery series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Supernatural. Two of my other tags, Curiosity and Pierce Cove, are for different campaign ideas ive got. Curiosity is set in a small tourist trap town of the same name in the middle of the Nevada desert, and takes inspiration from stuff like Resident Evil, The X-Files, and the SCP Foundation. Pierce Cove is set in a dying east coast town beset by mysterious fog and missing persons, inspired by Stephen King's It, Silent Hill and The Magnus Archives
GBG- Ghoul-B-Gone, a Ghostbusters-pastiche short story i wrote a while back and still consider expanding on
Apocalypse World- inspiration for a campaign of the post-apocalyptic ttrpg of the same name. My particular idea is for a world plagued by creeping, ever expanding masses of meat and flesh, taking inspiration from TWD, Mad Max, Annihilation, and Dogscape
Strain- personal project, sort of a biopunk bodyhorror version of shonen battle anime like One Piece or MHA
Tendies- inspiration for a game of Tendencies: Spirits and Glamour, a ttrpg created by a friend meant to emulate battle anime like those mentioned above, but especially Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Also my de-facto fashion tag.
Masks- for teen superhero ttrpg Masks: The Next Generation. Also a general purpose superhero universe and worldbuilding inspo tag
Lancer- Started out as a tag for the mech ttrpg Lancer, but became a general purpose mech, robot, spaceship and cyberpunk tag.
WoD- World of Darkness, well-known urban fantasy ttrpg brand. Im more compelled by the worldbuilding than anything else, and while vampires and werewolves are what the setting is more famous for, im mostly interested in Changeling the Lost and Promethean the Created, as well as the fan games Genius the Transgression and Leviathan the Tempest.
Mons- a general category for funny monster befriending and catching, digimon and pokemon esque stuff. I put stuff here that inspires my ideas for two radically different games, Animon and Monsters And Other Childish Things, so the tone might rapidly oscillate
Voidheart- inspo for Persona-inspired ttrpg Voidheart Symphony. Debated creating a tag for this one for a while, as i used to just fold it into other tags like Motw, Tendies and Dungeonpunk
Slasher- honestly just a tag for slashers, im just kinda intrigued by the idea of them as a monster archetype in the same vein as vampires and werewolves and such
I may have missed some, or left out the most self explanatory ones. Hope that clears stuff up, sorry if it was a long and unfulfilling read!

About Me & This Blog
Hi! I'm Encie (they/them mainly, but he/him cool too). I'm 24 and I like writing, story/character analysis, and theory-crafting! My main interests, featured on this blog regularly: Homestuck, Danganronpa, DnD/TTRPGs, Vast Error, anime (rn mainly MHA/BNHA), and YTTD. Other things will come and go as well, but those are some regulars! This blog DOES NOT TAG SPOILERS! As much as I'd like to, I'd drive myself crazy remembering to and worrying over what to tag or not tag. I'll try to tag spoiler content on really new media, but no guarantees! I tag the media that all my posts involve though, so you can curate what you see from my blog! Here are some big tags for my creative stuff: (some of these are sparse or empty b/c I have plans that I have not executed oops) #My AO3 stories, #Character analysis, #Theoryposts, #OCs, #original TTRPG lore Here are some links to other things! Hey! This is my BNHA/MHA OC, Hapi, who I'm using in a MHA-based DND game I'm playing with my group.
They were born in Egypt, but after a series of tragedies and strange afflictions struck their village (including insect infestations, unexplained illnesses, and the seemingly random deaths of every firstborn son in the village, including their own older brother), they were driven out of the village and forced to live on their own. They lived as a street urchin for a long time, traveling by foot, until they were adopted by a family in the town of Shutter, a tiny, nondescript eastern European village. They grew up there with their group of friends in the Hero Club, a group of teenager who dreamed of one day becoming heroes.
Basically, they can summon the Plagues of Egypt, but each plague can only be summoned if the one before it is already active (so, can't summon frogs unless water has already been turned to blood). If they attempt to summon a plague above their current level (currently level 5), they expend an additional quirk/spell slot and begin taking psychic damage, as their own quirk is so biblically destructive over time that they become afraid of losing control.

plug in bound- ?
I kinda built world seed with that issue in mind. It's not really much in the grand scheme of the system, also by design, because combat is intentionally not the only way a player should be able to interact with the world of any game built on World Seed.
All Characters share the same fundamental characteristics unless they have Abilities that change their specific capabilities, and one such fundamental characteristics is Vitality and HP. Literally just, "You have [x]HP, and when it hits 0, you can't take Actions anymore. If you spend a Vitality point, your HP refills and you can act again. If you have no Vitality to spend you're dead."
It's basically just making all Character entities in a given game built on World Seed, bosses with multiple HP bars, but it allows the satisfaction of dropping an enemy to 0HP without feeling like you've given up something.
World Seed is an engine for games, not a full game itself, and though I'm focusing on how combat could be played out using its systems, it's not purely focused on that. So a good chunk of games may not interact with Vitality at all. An animal crossing rp character probably isn't going to be hurt by anything more than a bee, much less lethally. But they might lose Vitality if their island gets too messy, to symbolize a weakening commitment to their island, until an ultimate "game over" state. Meanwhile a Soul Eater rp character might be knocked out a couple times during a fight, and lose Vitality to get back up again. A MHA rp character might have Abilities that let them spend Vitality to empower themselves, for PLUS+ULTRA moments. A Food Wars rp character might lose Vitality every time they're blown away by a dish, until they [Food Wars] all over the kitchen. A Priory of the Bookworm rp character, might die of dysentery after losing Vitality every week they're sick.
A lot of players who get into ttrpgs today are coming from video games, and in video games, a character doesn't die when they hit 0 HP all the time. Bosses have multiple phases, some NPCs stop being hostile, Pokemon just faint, etc. But they still hit 0HP regardless. So even if a player doesn't want to kill an enemy, and Pathfinder/D&D doesn't technically requires that you kill all enemies to end a combat encounter; if everyone on the enemy team doesn't hit 0HP, the game feels incomplete.
Vitality allows for these kinds of eventualities, without losing the feel of dropping an enemy's HP completely, so players get the feel of completing a challenge. Since the rule applies to player Characters too, players can take major losses without the requirement of a TPK either. You can build stories together with a group that can have more dynamic back and forth between protagonists and antagonists that way!
So like D&D isn't great for producing a conventionally satisfying narrative because in modern Western storytelling stories of the action genre (where D&D is firmly planted in) don't generally feature the main characters having an unbroken streak of victories against their opposition (a feature of modern D&D) but feature defeats and setbacks. When D&D is the most highly opinionated about combat and rules as written death is the main consequence of losing in combat and what you want is characters being able to suffer meaningful losses while not always being at the risk of death, you have tension between the needs of the narrative and the game mechanics.
But more than that, when a group does patch the rules to be more conducive to that and fudges the rules and manages to somehow force the game into producing a conventionally satisfying narrative, given that a lot of that was done in spite of D&D it feels like it would be giving credit where none is due to attribute that story to the game and not the group's efforts in spite of the game.
None of that is to say that D&D played on its own terms can't produce good narratives. In fact, I think the best stories related to D&D are not the sort of stuff you see in actual plays, but the sort of perfect alignment of system, fiction, and chance that can only happen in a medium that utilizes those three things. "A player figured out how to utilize the rules of the game in a way that made perfect sense in the fiction and produced an unpredictable outcome that significantly altered the course of events" is a much cooler story in the context of D&D than "The GM funneled the party into an encounter with the bad guy and the bad guy had an epic speech prepared."
And this applies to pretty much any RPG, to be fair. Even the weirdest, most obtuse RPG can produce lots of really cool unique narratives if taken at its own word. What that sometimes means is reconsidering what kinds of stories you think are good, and instead of forcing a game to produce the exact types of narratives you want letting the game take the driver's seat.
