I love how realistic the league of villains seem from the time we're first introduced to them. They act exactly how teens/young adults do, pathetic broke losers looking for a purpose together. Tomura is kind of a shut in gamer while Toga is a cheery highschool girl. Dabi is a runaway. These losers no one cares about believe they can take down society. Just a group full of no bodies with so much pain in their hearts it's almost unbearable. Without talking about it they know how hurt eachother is. Society's most vulnerable if you think about it.

Then they do prove that they can bring down an entire millionaire capitalist organisation and send the entire country into havoc. Here they are causing trouble to the most highly trained pro heroes with perfect track records. If you have conviction you can do anything. and pain is one such conviction. One person can change everything. They bring so much humour and color to the story, the villains are my favourite part of MHA.

While I personally disagree with your stance, I can definitely understand how he rubs you the wrong way with his hypocrisy. I actually used to hate him too, until a couple of fics on AO3 made me look at his motivations/reasons in a different light.

1; All Might

This man deserves a whole section to himself atp. I genuinely dislike all might's characters so much!!

Maybe it's just because I'm such a big izuku fan, but ever since the first episode it's always seemed like all might had seen izuku as a burden at first!

Of course as we know izuku wasn't the first pick that all might have had! But I do think that when you see a kid on a roof you should be heroic! Especially with him being the number one hero and you would assume that he would try and help seeing this distressed kid on a roof!

But no! He just leaves. And I guess you could say he had other motivations or other issues to go solve but to me it just seemed like a way of saying “you're on your own!” after this kid just poured his heart and soul out to you about how much he wishes he could help like you did. And of course all might of all people should understand how that felt, being quirkless himself at first!

I can say that his character has gotten better over the course of the anime/manga, but it's still not right with me you know? Like when his power finally diminished and he immediately pushed it onto izuku. Yes, I know you inherit the same quirk, but to me it's like-he's still a child? You have so many more pro heroes who are willing to fight this battle! Putting that emotional stress and turmoil on this kid was unnecessary!

I know OFA is definitely necessary to beat AFO but I personally don't see why izuku couldn't grow his quirk more before having that burden.

2; the Dabi reveal wasn't all that shocking

This one is a toss up for me to be honest, because I guess it was just all the foreshadowing that I just automatically assumed that dabi would be a todoroki- but at the same time it was so shocking to see how he revealed himself!

When one of your shows main characters is someone whose family is inherently meant to have fire powers, when you see a villain that has blue flames (the strongest type of flame) you can kind of attach them to each other, or at least I did.

Also with dabi being so set on taking down the hero society, I know many villains want to but his motivation would have been so clear if he was a todoroki! His father being the pos he is would give him a clear motive!

While I did expect him to reveal it to endeavor in person, I would never expect it to be like how Dabi's dance was! I would have expected the more you know close up and personal approach, like meeting him in a random alley and just saying it and then proceeding to burn him like he did in the manga, but doing it in the middle of a fight seemed so much more interesting to me!

Even though obviously the manga is on paper, it still showed so much emotion that flew throughout the pages and honestly it had me flabbergasted at the way that horikoshi's mind came up with how to have dabi's dance written out.

While Dabi is literally burning himself to the point where he will probably feel this physical pain so much more than he already does just to prove a point to his father and hurt shoto, while also asking endeavor to dance with him in hell?

It was pure genius!

3; The class 1-A kids would not be top heroes immediately if not for plot.

As we all know my hero academia literally follows the story of izuku becoming the number one hero, and yes while his quirk is amazing and he does train it properly, I just don't think he'd be number 1 so fast.

I've previously made a post that kind of went a little deeper into this and it was about how people say bakugo is most likely to be like number two hero after they graduate, but you have to recognize that most heroes don't get their own agency after they graduate, they have to start out as a sidekick.

And well yes all of the class 1-A student quirks are fairly amazing you also have to remember that they have the big three two years ahead of them, which would give them more time to build their own hero agencies and work their way up into the ranks before the 1A students are even involved in hero work!

Mirio as a third year is already considered to be the most likely to become the number one hero next, because he is number one in UA and he, even ranked up to the pro heroes, could easily beat out endeavor!

But as I stated earlier, this story isn't about how izuku works his way up, it is about how he becomes the number one hero, most likely implying that he graduates and just becomes the number one hero. Yes, while izuku will become the next symbol of peace, I just think that if it wasn't because he's the main character and because class 1a is like the main setting and the people that everyone wants to watch, those students wouldn't have a chance of making top 10 heroes, maybe not even top 20.

Heroes have to take time to grow and I think that if they weren't the main characters it would easily be Mirio at number one and a bunch of other heroes across Japan in the top rankings!

As we saw at the exam episode there are so many high schools that train heroes and all the kids had amazing quirks! If it simply weren't for the character development and to move the plot of the story along, I don't believe any of those children would have a chance at making top 10 immediately.

Those are just a few of my very controversial (?) Opinions that some people may not agree with but feel free to you know make your own assumptions and put your own opinions in on what I think!

Tbh I hate everything that they did with the LOV in the end, because it feels like for a long time the story handled them like main points and towards the end just threw them away without care.

The LOV burned out so fast but they burned so bright, it is a shame that bnha fell flat in the end when it comes to the main villains.

Day Twenty-One: Hate Fuck -> Katsuki Bakugo

Bakugo is a bastard and he knows it.

Every hard stare, every grind of his teeth – he fucking pisses you off and even though he knows it, he’s still an asshole to you. Especially because he knows it.

“Your technique is sloppy, you damn extra!” He sneers. 

“Your attitude is sloppy, bitch.” You blow him a kiss. “Besides, if you’d moved faster, we might have caught the villain.”

“You were here before me, dumbass! If anyone needs to be faster it’s you!” He’s chest to chest with you, sweat glistening on his neck as he works himself up again.

“I don’t recall asking for your goddamn opinion anyway, Dynamight!” 

When he grabs you by the neck and kisses you, your entire body lurches. Your hormones beg to get closer, but on principle you rear back and deck him in the face.

In the next move, you grasp the collar of his costume and yank his bloody, smirking face forward to kiss him again. God, he might be an asshole but he exudes sex appeal.

He slams you back against the wall, his teeth digging into your flesh and leaving love marks there, despite the definitive lack of love between you two. You’re just aching to put him in his place. This is a challenge. A feral competition to force each other into a vulnerable position.

You want him to need you.

The only problem is that you need him, too. Your fingers claw at any bare skin you can find, lingering around his shoulders and along his neck. As your hips grind against his covered cock, his greedy hand rubs between your legs. Bakugou is a prideful, arrogant person. He holds himself to the highest standard; he is the best and everyone else is simply below him. Everything he has ever done was in pursuit of being number one, shining above the rest. He has to have a perfect victory, he has to be a perfect student, he has to win to save.

He pushes and pushes and won’t let anyone see his weaknesses or his insecurities. He can never lose, he can never fail, he can never show that he regrets or hesitates or that he hasn’t thought everything through. He must never be vulnerable in every sense of the word.

Then why is he standing in the rain.

To apologize shouldn’t be a sacrifice, but it is for Bakugou. To pour his feelings, to admit his wrong, to let down all of the walls he has built and be vulnerable. And in front of his whole class.

He is willing to sacrifice his pride, to fully sacrifice any superiority he could have, to bare his soul and even risk rejection. Because he knows Midoriya is more important. Because he wants him to come home, he wants him to know his true feelings, because he wants things to change. 

Because Midoriya has changed him. Midoriya has opened his eyes; by showing him he’s allowed to be open, that his feelings should be expressed, that he has so much to learn, and so much of that was learned through Midoriya just existing.

He isn’t sacrificing his safety frivolously because he’s expected to as a hero; he is doing it because he has grown. He is doing it because he has finally admitted to himself that he wants Midoriya to be with him and safe.

So I will sacrifice this for you. Not because it will change anything, as much as I want that I know that I can’t just fix all the wrong with just this. And I am willing to do as much as it takes to earn your forgiveness. But I don’t need that from you, not now and not ever if you don’t want that, I just need you to rest. I did so much wrong. He would do everything in his power, admit so many things, just to get Midoriya to take care of himself. We see him being the most vulnerable he has ever been in front of people that aren’t Midoriya. He does so much completely out of character, all in pursuit of being there for Midoriya. 

For Izuku.

He finally gets over himself and finally tells Midoriya the feelings he has felt for so long.

He lets go of this idea he is inherently better and finally acknowledges that his hatred for Midoriya has always been about his own shortcomings and insecurities. But he still wants to be better, they are still rivals. He isn’t going to sacrifice that part of him because that is just who he is; he is still going to push to number one.

But now it’s different.

There is verbal and vocal acceptance and respect. Before it was unspoken; their relationship had changed ever since Ground Beta. They were proper rivals, with mutual respect and care, they were actively making each other better.

But Bakugo finally verbalizes it and tells Midoriya, not only is he sorry, but he wants to actually have a proper friendship; he wants to continue to become better and earn his forgiveness. He wants them to push each other to be better, he wants to continue to fight for the top spot, he still wants to be the best.

But when did it become something else? 

When was the turning point when it started to shift from wanting to surpass Midoriya and be the best, to wanting to keep up with Midoriya and stay by his side?

Bakugou has already sacrificed himself for Midoriya before. His body moved on its own; with no hesitation, he would save Midoriya. He has already risked his life for him. But there is a layer to it that I don’t think people talk about. 

He tells Midoriya he shouldn’t try to win this on his own. 

He disguises his concern with an insistence that he’s in it to fight for himself when he initially joins the battle. But it is to fight by Midoriya’s side and support him.

But taking the hit for Midoriya, jumping in the way isn’t just support. This is sacrifice. This is giving yourself to ensure the safety of someone. And it was second nature. 

There are two reasons and both are a sacrifice of something in the moment.

It is knowing someone is so valuable, so great, in all senses of the word, that they must be protected. Bakugou is sacrificing his body and admitting that Midoriya needs to stay alive, for personal reasons and/or for the world. He needs Midoriya to be okay, Midoriya can’t fight alone and Bakugou will do anything to make sure he will be okay. 

But the sacrifice of ideology. 

With every development, he has relinquished parts of himself. When he sacrifices himself he is not only sacrificing his body but is admitting that he can’t do this on his own; he needs Midoriya too. This isn’t him wanting to be better than Midoriya, it’s him wanting to do it together.

Midoriya changed him.

He doesn’t die for Midoriya. He wakes up and just as his last thought was Midoriya, so was his first as he woke up. He runs to his side. People are dragging him back, trying to have him rest, knowing before he even said anything that he would lose his mind over Midoriya’s situation. 

Everyone sees how Bakugou feels about Midoriya.

He sacrifices himself because Midoriya can not die on him. Midoriya has to stay alive. Midoriya has to keep fighting. 

There can not be a world that doesn’t have him in it.

This is the culmination of what has been developing ever since the final exam where Bakugou finally works with Midoriya; the day that win to save, save to win was noticed. Then furthered after Ground Beta where they finally talked to each other and something changed within them both.

But the final sacrifice is the culmination of Bakugou’s character.

He knows what this decision will mean. Everyone screams for him not to. He knows that he is going to die. He knows he will not win this fight.

This isn’t dying for the cause. This isn’t just a hero complex. This is because he can help Midoriya and he will. This is for Izuku.

I will sacrifice myself for you. To give you more time, to give you even the slightest chance of winning. I will sacrifice myself for you because you are who can win. I am going to die. I am going to die and in my final thoughts, I will ask if I will still be able to be by your side.

It is no longer can I beat you. It is no longer can I surpass you. It is can I still catch up to you. It is can I still even be equal to you. He has already sacrificed the idea that he could beat Midoriya, that isn’t what he wants anymore. What he wants is to stay here with him.

I will sacrifice everything I am. I have wanted to be the best. All my life I have wanted to surpass you and everyone around me. But you. I will let that go for you. I let it go in my mind for so long now and I have never wanted to admit it. Is it even possible? Is it even possible for me to catch up to you? Is it even possible for me to stay by your side. I can’t be that anymore. I am sacrificing even that now. I will never be number one now. I will never become the person I always dreamed to be. I will never surpass you. I am forever sacrificing that now. I will die here.  

But can I still be with you?

The sacrifice of his life is him fully relinquishing everything he is, admitting that he can’t keep up, losing all of the progress he has made, letting go of everything that made up his character.

And the last thing on his mind is if he can still be able to be by Midoriya’s side.

He won’t let him go again.
