what a wonderful day to remember that there are real actual people in the world who fit your "harmful stereotypes" to a T and they deserve safety, love, respect as human beings, and YES, representation, because even the most stereotypical mother fucker has more going on in their life than just that. a LOVELY day to remember that your dislike of stereotypes should be based in a lack of variety and a watering down of human experience or an active distaste for those being shown, not your own personal distaste of Those People. a MARVELOUS day to consider that many of the stereotypes which are held up as Degenerates who must be Erased by the bigots are, in fact, people we should be protecting and empowering, and that you should NOT BE AGREEING WITH THE BIGOTS ABOUT THEM NEEDING TO GO AWAY.

Like I don’t think any of you understand what it’s like growing up with darker skin and being repeatedly told “you aren’t beautiful, you aren’t worthy, you aren’t ____” just because of your skin.
And this is coming from a light skinned Black woman

OH MY GOD IT IIIIISSSS.
*my ass starts vibrating at high speeds with the incredibly niche swedish-immigrants-to-the-southwest lineage* *Seriously there were whole ass towns founded on scandenavian immigrants in the south and midwest and this is never acknowledged or talked about oh my god my dairy farming great-grandparents are finally acknowledged*

After years of Greek, Roman and Byzantine histories, both in Podcast and Books, I took a step forward in time to Mike Duncan’s Revolutions podcast.
After 6 months of listening to the English, American, French, Spanish ReConquista of South America, Haitian and Mexican Revolutions, I have popped out bleary eyed and squinting into the 20th century’s 1920s.
I still have the Russian Revolution to go (and a few odd Cold War books) but I find myself missing the Ancient World.

In my office, I find myself often loading/unloading the dishwasher, starting it, wiping the kitchen counters, etc. I'm mostly fine with it, except it's just hilarious that the only Mexican woman in the office is...cleaning.
We just got an email asking all of us to keep the kitchen clean, saying that it's not the responsibility of our cleaners (also Latinas) or our colleagues. I want to laugh because it basically means "Hey, the Latinas are not cleaning the kitchen".
