Pro-tip everyone: if you ever get a bacterial infection (like BV or pericoronitis), beware of a med called metronidazole, also called flagyle. Especially if you have a history of anxiety and or depression!

It's a shitty drug that tastes awful and causes nausea, migraines, etc even if you don't drink alcohol. But even if some people can tolerate that, it also crosses the BBB and can make you feel insane, if not suicidal. And the handouts at pharmacies don't usually have this written down. People literally aren't informed that this medication can give them psychological side effects.

I'm talking to someone rn who just took their first dose. They might end up going to a psych unit because they keep having intrusive thoughts about jumping out the window. This drug isn't a joke, be careful peeps.

had a good morning with the boy. we woke up a little late because i was having trouble sleeping last night, but it was still only in the 70s! at 10 am! absolutely unheard of. we went for a walk to the park across the street, which we've only been able to go to once since we moved. Enzo sniffed every square inch of the park like, twice. I didn't bother too much with enforcing loose leash stuff bc I just wanted him to enjoy a sniffy walk since he's been cooped up so much. We met a nurse on her break and we also got to meet a very polite dog. Enzo was so happy about the dog he kept turning around after we passed them to try to play. He eventually got zoomies and I let him run up the stairs to our door. Afterwards he had breakfast! he's been weird about kibble so we've been trying training exercises with kibble rewards which he's been enjoying a lot.

anyway. he's stinky. he needs a bath soon

okay so we took another dose of the antibiotic and within half an hour we had to take our rescue inhaler and our skin got so prickly and itchy we ended up crying, plus our mouth and throat are itchy and we just generally feel like we've eaten something we're allergic to. taking an antihistamine helped a bit so I'm pretty sure it is an allergic reaction.

I don't think it's a good idea to keep taking a medication that's giving us reactions like this, especially since we've had a worse reaction to each dose.

I just don't know what the fuck I'm supposed to do because you're not supposed to just stop taking antibiotics without talking to a doctor, but like we called 111 earlier and they couldn't prescribe us any alternatives because they said we'd need to ask our dentist and we can't do that until Monday, but I don't want to risk having an even worse reaction and having to go to the hospital.

a bunch of the side effects we've got (tingling and burning in our limbs, blurred vision, etc) are one the "contact your doctor immediately if you experience these" list but like we've already fucking done that and received no help whatsoever. our whole body hurts and I keep having to check over our skin because it feels like we're covered in cuts and wounds but our skin looks alright so I don't know what's going on. I'm so tired of getting fucked up by various medications

Funny consequence of working at a vet clinic is you absorb the names and purposes of Various Drugs just by osmosis so when you pick up your antibiotics from the pharmacy you'll be like "Oh hey my friend metronidazole" or you look at the hospital's records of your gallbladder surgery for funsies and you're like "Oh, propofol!
