Author’s note: Yooo, I’ve been thinking about a mermaid fic since I heard about the atwow movie.
Masterlist
That morning was a normal morning, everyone in the village have been doing their duties. Ronal and Tonowari had been attending to theirs. Some children had been playing at the beach, running around the water, splashing one another and so on. Until they saw something washed up at shore, curious the group went over to see what it was. They didn’t see an ilu or a skimswin, instead it was something else. They thought that they needed to tell an adult, so some stayed behind and others went to get adults.
The kids had been running around screaming and shouting about something that had washed up, this got the attention of some who had been passing by. This commotion caused some other Metkayina’s to see what was happening. While Tonowari and Ronal had been busy, someone had walked towards their Marui. “Tonowari, Ronal, something is going on” the female na’vi said, getting their attention. “What is happening?” Ronal asked, getting up. “Some children had spotted something wash up in the shore, I believe is best you come see for yourselves.” She said, now both Ronal and Tonowari stood up. “Take us there” Tonowari said.
The na’vi had lead them to were the commotion was happening, a small group of other na’vi had formed. They had been muttering and talking. “What is she?” “Where did she come from?” “Look at her! She has a big tail!” “Don’t touch her!” they heard once they got closer. When the group saw the chief and his mate they had stepped a side. “What is going on here?” Tonowari asked, once close he saw what the group had been looking at. “She washed up on shore” one of the kids that had been a witness.
Both Ronal and Tonowari had a closer look, you had been laying their, unconscious. Instead of a legs, you had a tail with fins, you had gills on your neck and on the side of your upper body. Your four fingers were webbed to one another and you had sharp talons. Your arms weren’t wide like them, instead they were thin with much longer fins. Your hair was long and it covered your chest perfectly, also your queue was visible. You were just like them, but also different. They also sad how small you were, you were a child.
Both Tonowari and Ronal believe you needed help, they had never come across anyone like you. So they took you back to their Marui. Ronal had began to try and get you to wake up with her ritual.
After a couple minutes, you woke up, being met by Ronal and Tonowari. You sat up a bit tp fast, and spoke “what happened? Where am I?” you asked, holding your head.
“You washed up on shore here” Ronal said, as Tonowari spoke. “What happened to you?” He asked you. “I was out hunting, I went a bit further than I should, then a huge akula came and I got away from it. I got exhausted and decided to rest on a rock.” You said rubbing your temple. “I didn’t mean to cause a ruckus here.” You said looking down at your slimy tail.
“I’ll leave as soon as possible” you mentioned, then Ronal and Tonowari looked at one another. They had a silent conversation between one another then turned back to you. “It’s okay, you can stay as much as you like until you’re able to go.”
They had offered to let you stay a bit. “Are you sure? I don’t want to be a burden.” You said as Tonowari shock his head. “It’s alright, you’re no burden. You need rest before you go back home.” You thanked the couple and promise not to cause any trouble.
Since you couldn’t stay in a Marui, you stayed in the water around Ronal’s and Tonowari’s marui. You had found a small cave that you perfectly fit in and called it your temporary home.
You had met their children Ao’nung and Tsireya. Along with their friend Rotxo. Both Rotxo and Tsireya were kind while Ao’nung was a bit alerted by you. He along with everyone had never seen you before, so he wanted to keep his guard up.
During your time with the clan, you had learn a lot. They were able to communicate with Tulkun, how they bonded with a ilus and skimswims. It was different back home. You were closer with the Tulkun since you both communicated through sound waves/ vocal sounds.
You also had mentioned to Tsireya that you’ve met Tulkuns with tattoos, which she had told you that they must be their brothers and sisters.
You were also very good with the younger kids. You would often be spotted sitting on the beach surrounded by children, listening to your stories from back home. You’d also play with them underwater chasing them around and making them laugh.
You also helped out Ronal and Tonowari, the tsahik with looking for materials for remedies and had showed her about your ways of healing and other stuff. You helped Tonowari with hunting, you showed him how you hunt and what you normally hunted for. He impressed by your hunting skills due to still being very young.
Tsireya and you had officially became sisters in a way. It all started since the day you stayed in the village. She was kind to you even without getting to know you.
She had thought loads of things, such as weaving and making necklaces. She had made you a top out of pearls and sea shells she had found. You normally didn’t wear any tops since your hair did the job for you.
Ao’nung took a bit longer to get along with you, since he was still spectacle about you, but eventually he saw you as a friend like Rotxo.
He also liked how you’d prank him and Rotxo, He liked how you’d play rough along other things.
That morning had been a normal morning. You had been with the younger children, until the horn was blow. Getting everyone's attention, visitor’s had arrived near the village. The visitors were coming from the water, you noticed how they had remained in the water while Ronal and Tonowari, along with a few others followed them went towards the visitors in their Skimswims. This could only mean one thing.
It was your family, they had come searching for you. Your mother and father had asked the leader’s about your whereabouts. Then you had been called over towards them group, as soon as you saw your parents, they had pulled you into a tight hug, happy that they had found you safe, they thought something bad had happened to you, but you were alright.
Now you had to return home, before you departed, you went to go say goodbye. It was hard since you had got close to the children along with Ronal, Tonowari, and their kids. You had promise that when the Tulkun return, so will you. Once departed, the people had already missed you.
Its been months since you had left back home, Tsireya missed you dearly since you were considered sisters. Ao’nung and Rotxo also missed you, so did the Chief and his mate.
Then again, the horn had been blown, this time it was Tulkun who had returned, but they weren’t alone, you and your people had come too.
You had told them about the Metkayina that they came along to also meet them. The Metkayina got to know your people while they got to meet the Metkayina.
You had introduced the children to other children like you, they had began to get along.
This had started a bond between both na’vi. Since then your people and the Metkayina had been considered brothers and sisters.
Every time the Tulkun returned to their village, so did your people, its been that way for five years now.
The Sullys had scene the Tulkun arrive for the first time, they also noticed that the Tulkun had companions with them. Your people.
They noticed how both species of na’vi interacted with one another, some kids playing around with one another, others seemed to have different kinds of relationships, some of friendship and others more intimate, assuming some had were mates.
During your time there, you were introduced to the Sully kids. They had never scene anyone like you until now.
You were honestly happy to meet others. Tuk most of all was even more excited to meet you.
You along with Rotxo and Kiri went on a swim with his spirit bother, both Tuk and Kiri holding onto the top fin, while you and Rotxo held onto the bottom of the fin.
Afterwards you had taken Tuk into your back and swam around the Tulkun.
She had been holding onto you tightly while you swam around, this caught the attention of her parents.
They saw their youngest kid bond with you, it warmed their hearts seen that Tuk was happier than the first time they came to the village.
Afterwards, you had been sitting on the beach with the small group of friends, getting to know the Sullys.
You never would of thought that they were different na’vi, you lived underwater, so it was good that you got to know them.

Here's an idea for the avatar fanfic writers that loves angsts. (Male reader)
(___) always give the people he loves a shoulder to cry and a personal therapist. He always have time for them, gives them his affection and care, and everything else he can give. Hell, he can even ruin his own reputation if it means to defend them, but seems like the universe doesn't give out the same pleasant results for him.
Yes he doesn't expect anything in return but sometimes he feels..off whenever they don't pay much attention or give him the same love and affection he gives for them. Might I say rather minimum, they always seem to be busy to not have time for him, always seem to find an excuse to go away,or simply just goes away. But did (___) ever suspect that it wasn't healthy? No of course not, what they view to them will never change and that is the problem. He doesn't know that it was hurting him and continues to find excuses about it.
He was always there for them when they were down but yet they weren't there when he was. But one specific incident changed it all, might be asking what I mean by that? (___) almost got killed or got actually killed by a thanator after sacrificing his life in order to save theirs. They haven't realized how much time they wasted on something else-they haven't realized they spent less time on him until a death threatening situation happened.
(reader lives ending)
Luckily he survived but a large fear of going outside his comfort zone appeared. They try to apologize and try to make his fear go away but none failed. They will never have their fishing competitions, hunting trips, who gets to find the most fruits,or any other things they used to do to hang out. Time was ticking and it already stopped, they were too late and wasted their time on something else. Things aren't gonna be same as before.
(reader dies)
He died...he didn't survive the attacked-and it was all their fault. How would they-HOW COULD THEY'VE BEEN SO STUPID! why did it have to be him, why him instead of them. They were too late and now he is gone forever..they'll never get to hang out with him anymore, they'll never get to see his smile anymore. They didn't realize how much time they've wasted and how STUPID they were for that, and now he is gone. No matter how many times they pray, plead, and beg to eywa he will never come back to the land of Pandora, they'll never get to see him grow up. He was gone..forever

Okay Ao'nung falls in love with Sully na'vi fem Reader who is albino and doesn't know why but catches himself staring at them at every chance he gets because he's never seen anyone like her before and his friends say something rude but he shuts that down quickly and is immediately trying to court her and Reader is surprised because no one at her old village showed an interest in her (she's the oldest Sully kid) and he's genuinely surprised because who wouldn't want to court someone so gorgeous (I haven't seen any fics of albino na'vi reader) fluffy ending!
PEARL
summary: you never received much romantic attention in your clan, so the least you expected was the son of the metkayina to get violent for you.
contents: 1.7k words, fem!sullyreader, swearing, fighting, bullying, wee bit of angst, fluffy ending
authors note: thankyou for always interacting bae i love u and this req. hopefully it is good <3 i lowkey struggled lmao. ALSO this photo of him woof woof
You were different. You knew that. Everyone around you knew that. Your skin was pale, derived of the usual blue, eyes, and hair so light that it glimmered in the sunlight. A sight to behold, ‘Eywa knew the world needed your light.’ As your father said.
You were the first one of your people to look like this. Mo’at assumed it was because your father was born of the sky-people, but it was just an appearance level change, you were the same as everyone else in the inside, so people treated you as such.
You were treated just like everyone, never excluded, ridiculed, or made fun of. Well, who would do that to the daughter of Toruk Makto. Though, you noticed as you got older that the Omaticaya men never looked at you the way they would look at your friends, no googly eyes were sent your way or efforts of courtship. No late night walks or little gifts. Your love life was barren, no sprout or seedling of love budding in sight.
So, when your family up and left your home, everything you ever knew. You expected one thing to be the same. That there would be no mate waiting for you in your new home, just as there wasn’t one in your old home.
Ao’nung noticed the commotion that was emerging at the shores of his village, the sounds of horns blaring as the hunters started to come in from the sea. His curiosity bested him as his body moved unconsciously to investigate. Only to be met with the Toruk Makto and his family begging for refuge.
Their skin was a darker blue, figures lean and tails small and weak. What would they bring here that would benefit the clan at all? He thought to himself, they were weak, useless.
He focused on the intense conversation between the pairs of parents. Tension so strong it could have been pierced with a spear. But a spear didn’t break the tension surrounding Ao’nung. No. It was him catching sight of you.
It was like his body went into shock, a current running through him from head to toe. His brain felt as if it was buzzing, the only thought was of you. His father told him once about this feeling he got when he first saw his mother. Was this the feeling? Was the feeling meant to be towards a forest freak?
You were so different. Different to his people, different to your people. You were truly a sight to behold. Like a beautiful pearl, that was hiding amongst the depths of blue coral. He felt his world shatter as he saw you, your beauty was truly memorizing. It didn’t matter if your arms and tail were weak, he needed to get to know you.
You had been at the village for a month or so now. It was nothing like home, the sand felt weird on your feet, the water was never the same temperature, and the people never stopped staring. Something you missed so dearly from home is even if you were different, you were still Omaticaya. Here you weren’t Metkayina, you barely looked Na’vi to them. So all it ended in was occasion ridicule from the teenage boys when your younger brothers weren’t around to protect you.
Though in the time you had been here. You had grown closer to the chief’s son, Ao’nung. He made it a commitment to talk to you every day, whether it was small talk, or a late night walk. You couldn’t tell when you started to develop feelings for him. You assumed you only did because he was the first person who ever showed you the courtesy of manners, even if he was hostile to your brothers. He became someone who you could be with, to protect yourself from the teenage ridicule.
In your month, you had found yourself a favourite spot to sit and look at the waves. Resting yourself against a tall tree, bark itchy against your soft back as you dig your toes into the sand below you. Still trying to get used to the odd texture. It was somewhat peaceful, the sound of the waves. Not as calming as the sounds of rain in the forest, pitter pattering on the leaves. But it was still peaceful.
However, it was short-lived. The sounds of waves being crushed by the sounds of quiet mutterings behind you.
“Is she sick? She isn’t even the same as her family of freaks?”
“She reflects in the sun dude! That’s so fucked up.”
“She’s barely Na’vi she’s basically a vvrtep” The statements were followed with a couple of quiet chuckles. You wondered if they knew you could hear them. They probably relished in it honestly.
Though you tried to not let the comments get to you, they pained you to hear. It hurt to hear such degradation. Pushing the tears back until the suffocated you, is what it felt like to act tough in front of them.
But the quiet mutters and chuckles suddenly turned into loud thumps and yells as commotion started to brew behind you.
“Y’know what’s fucked up? Your face after I beat you shitless.” Scurrying from your spot you watched the fight in front of you. There was Ao’nung, riled up and furious, beating his friends face in after he mocked you.
“Brother what is wrong with you?!” His friend hysterically questioned as he fought off Ao’nung’s fists, getting one punch straight to the Ao’nung’s nose.
“You do not speak of her like that.” Ao’nung was seething, his words coming out as a hiss spitting in his friend’s face. As he was now being held back by his other friend, fists drenched in the blood of his ‘friend.’
“Oh, fuck me! Bit hypocritical you skxwang! Did her skin blind you and make you go insane?!” Ao’nung hissed in his face, spitting blood at him.
You were watching in horror. The bloody mess of these men was almost nauseating to look at as you realised this was because of you. The feeling of dread overcame you as your clouded mind drowned out their boisterous yelling. You held onto the fabric of your shirt, fiddling with the beads as you stared towards the men, not focused on anything but a overwhelming feeling of guilt.
“If you like that freak so much, why don’t you go and talk to her. She must be so charmed by you beating the shit out of me Ao’nung.” Leaving Ao’nung in a huff his friends bashed shoulders as they walked past him back to the village to get help.
Ao’nung was now only focused on the way your body awkwardly swayed as you stared towards him. Truthfully, he came over to talk to you. He wanted to gift you this bracelet he had hand woven with a small pearl intertwined in the rope, so he could say it was beautiful and reminded him of you. Yet he feels as if he had messed up any chance he had of being flirtatious with you, after he is covered in the blood of a friend.
“Ao’nung.” It was a meek whisper, it scratched as it came out of your throat. Not able to create eye-contact with him. His stare still being too intimidating, the way it made your heart flutter.
“Yes.” He breathed it out, as if he had just exhaled a breath after being under water for hours. His voice begging for you to look up at him.
“Are you alright?” Gaining the courage to look up at his bruised face you wince. His nose was bleeding as his lip was slightly split. His friend can obviously punch.
“I’m fine Y/N.” He smiled down at you, looking at the way your eyes poured out concern the more you assessed his injuries.
“You are stupid. Let them talk. You talk just like them.” Tone harsh as if you were scolding a child. In response, he sulked like a child pouting his lips.
“They were being rude. I can’t let people talk about the one I admire like that. It’s not what a good mate would do.” As he let out his last sentence he fiddled with the bracelet he knotted around his loincloth, so he didn’t lose it.
You were puzzled. Good mate? Was he interested in you? Were his efforts romantic not just the obscure kindness?
“What do mean by that Ao’nung?” Your eyes followed his hand as he placed the bracelet in your hands. His fingertips were rough, they felt as if they were burning, setting your heart ablaze as he gazed at you.
“I’ve always thought pearls were beautiful, just like you.” He was never this nervous, the cocky smirk he usually adorned was wiped off his face as he nervously awaited your response.
“I’m not beautiful Ao’nung we both know that.” He shook his head as he continued to tie the bracelet around your wrist, making sure to linger his fingers on your skin as often as he could.
“You are the most beautiful woman I think I’ve ever seen, you are more gorgeous than any woman in this village.” He was holding onto your hands as if you’d fly away if he let go.
“No one’s ever said that to me before.” Ao’nung was bewildered, it was shocking to him. But he tried to not let his shock ruin the intense stare he was giving you, trying to convey the most sincerity as possible.
“Then I’ll happily be the first. And I’ll be the one calling you beautiful forever, if you accept my courting gift.” He waited eagerly for your response, it felt as if time was dragging along. His heart constricting the longer you were silent.
“Of course, I do. The bracelet is as stunning as you, how could I reject the man who stood up to be against his friends.”
“Yeah you’d have to be pretty stupid.” You scowled and gave him a playful pinch. “Ow! Y/N!”
“You ruined the moment!”
“I’ll ruin the moment more by kissing you with my bloody face!” You squealed in disgust as you shook your head.
“Absolutely not. Come with me, I’ll clean you up.” He followed you swiftly, making sure to intertwine his fingers in with yours.
“Yes ma’am.”
thankyou so much for reading lovelies <333 interacting is super duper appreciated have a great day/night <333 I'd love to see you follow ╰(^3^)╯

DAYS PAST
Tonowari x Metkayina!Reader
Summary: Tonowari doesn’t like the idea of her daughter going off with a boy, but his mate is there to remind him of their youth Warnings: N/A Word count: 1.5k
Taglist: @eywas-heir @drinking-tea-and-be-obsessed @netherklutz
“My son, Ao’nung and daughter, Tsireya, will teach you our ways”
“Father-“
“It is decided” Tonowari, Olo’eyktan of the Metkayina welcomed Jake and his family into Awa’atlu. They sought uturu, a sanctuary away from the war back in the forests. He granted them permission to stay, but the Tsahìk Ronal was not happy with his decision, she does not trust these outsiders, especially with how they are part human themselves.
“Come, I will show you our village” Tsireya helped with their bags and led them to an empty marui on the far side of the village. He was glad at least one of his children was hospitable, he would need words with his son later. He knows that Ao’nung takes after his aunts views on them, it is evident in the scowls and remarks he threw at them.
“Who were they? ‘Wari?” a small Metkayinan woman stood next to the man, snapping him out of his trance and placing a gentle hand on his back, urging him to look at her. When he turned his head down he was face to face with his mate, ___. He did not see her with the crowd when the Omaticayans arrived, ‘she must have been deep in the ocean again’, he mused.
“That is Toruk Makto and his family. They seek uturu” he cupped his wife’s face and have her a kiss on the forehead, hand going down to her pregnant stomach, rubbing soothing circles. She was a few months along and the bump was very prominent.
“Sanctuary? why?” the look that Tonowari gave her said everything, the skypeople were back on Pandora, she knew that and she knew the forest clans were heavily affected, she just did not expect them to come here, expecting them to fight back just as she heard 15 years ago. “I will go and greet them”
“Be careful, sister” Ronal walks up to them after calming down a few worried Na’vi, glare on her face “I do not trust them, the children inherited demon blood, hair on their face and extra fingers”. ___ simply nodded, not wanting to argue with her older sister, her Tsahìk, and simply watched her as she left to her marui.
“I am ___, Tonowari’s mate” ___ introduced, her hands on her daughters shoulders and they smiled at the family, placing down a basket of freshly caught fish. The blue Na’vi did not look happy to be here, but they smiled back nonetheless. The little one, Tuktirey said her greetings out loud. It made ___ chuckle. “I am sorry if my sister, our Tsahìk, was too harsh on you all. She means well”
Neytiri huffed but nodded, she did not like Ronal after what she said about her children, therefore she did not know how to feel about the sister. Only time will tell. But for now it is best to keep up good impressions.
“Yes, thank you. I am sure she does” Jake nodded his head, hair bouncing on his shoulders. His arm was around his youngest, bringing her to his chest. She was tired from the long journey and yawned.
“We will leave you to settle in. There is no communal dinner tonight, but I have brought some fish your way. Come, Tsireya” They bid their goodbyes and walked back to their marui, speaking of the Omaticayans and what they would do to help them settle in more comfortingly.
“I will go diving with them tomorrow, show them our reefs” Tsireya bounced on the walkway, excited at the prospect of new friends, and hopefully a new lover. Her tail swayed at the thought of him, the boy. He was sweet even if they’ve only met today for a few mere moments.
“That is a good idea, and ‘Reya, I have noticed you staring at that boy, do you like him?” like mother like daughter, ___ read her mind. She saw the look on her child’s face when they were back with the forest Na’vi, watching at Toruk Makto’s youngest son, the one they call Lo’ak.
There was no point in lying to her Sa’nok, so Tsireya decided to say the truth. “He said ‘hey’ to me mama! You should have seen him!” ___ giggled, one word and she was already captured by him, like fish in a net.
“Who said ‘hey’ to you?” Tonowari was sat by the side of the pod, his legs dangling over the water as he sharpened his spear, preparing for an afternoon hunt. His ears perked up at the sounds of his girls walking into their home, watching the little flush his daughter had grow on her face.
Tsireya’s eyes widened “no one ma sempul” and she scurried out of the house, going to see what her brother was up to, hopefully nothing terrible.
___’s mate looked towards his wife, eyes questioning, hands stopping their ministrations. “Our daughter may have fallen for someone” the woman went to sit beside him, holding the underside of her full tummy, rubbing the skin and feeling larger hands atop hers.
Tonowari hummed, not liking the idea of his only daughter going off with some boy, he had a suspicion it was with Jake’s, seeing the way the boy looked at his kid. It was the same look he gave ___ when they were properly introduced for the first time. “I do not know how to feel about that. Tsireya is just a baby”
“She is thirteen my love, soon she will entertain the prospect of boys and relationships, and in the future a mate”
The Olo’eyktan’s shoulders and ears visibly drooped, a large sigh escaping his chest, his wife was right. “Where did the time go, flower? She was just a small bundle merely yesterday. Now she is a beautiful, strong, independent women”
“Our child has grown up, just like Ao’nung…do you remember when we were in the same situation?” ___ grinned, blue eyes shining at the memories of a teenage Tonowari trying to court her with pretty woven necklaces and bags of pearls he spent hours collecting in the reef. Trinkets she held very dear then, and still holds now, one of which is wrapped around her neck.
Tonowari leaned into his mate and pecked the bridge of her nose, smiling at her, hand coming up to hold the back of her neck, feeling the shells of her necklace digging into his fingers. “I will never forget the first time I saw you, really saw you. You looked so beautiful at the party, the Tulkun returned and you were in the waters singing with your spirit sister, I could not take my eyes off of you for hours”
“So she told me” ___ giggled, briefly remembering when her tulkun spoke of the boy watching her from the shores. “She said you were a creep”
“Did she now?” Tonowari’s forehead raised, eyes widening.
“And I agreed” he bellowed out a laugh, eyes crinkling at the sides. “You never left me alone after that, always accompanying me around the waters. Ronal said you asked of me all the time”
“Ronal is the equivalent of a sea snake”
___ gasped and slapped his shoulder, grin spreading across her pretty face “I am telling her you said that!”
“Kehe! Please do not! She would kill me” the man visibly shuddered. There is nothing more frightening than her older sister, who is so overly protective of ___. It took her forever to accept their relationship, afraid that he would take advantage and hurt her younger sister in some way.
___ smooched his mouth, cupping his face “do not worry ‘Wari, I will protect you”
“My strong warrior” he mused, about to give her another kiss when their children entered the marui, Ao’nung visibly shuddered at the sight of his parents being so lovey with each other, sticking his tongue out at them, Tsireya noticed and slapped his shoulder.
Tonowari straightened up, still needing to give him the talk, asking him to sit next to them. Ao’nung noticed his fathers serious demeanour and slowly crept next to his mother for protection. “Son, you will treat the Sully’s with respect, I have asked you to help them become Metkayina so I expect no quarrels. As future Olo’eyktan I need you to take this seriously”. The boy furiously nodded, not wanting to disappoint his father any further, “And I want you to watch over the youngest boy, I do not like how he has been eyeing your sister”
“Sempul!” Tsireya screeched from the other side of the hut, round cheeks turning a deep shade of purple, hiding behind the woven basket of fish she brought out.
___ held her swollen belly and laughed loudly, slowly getting up from her position over the edge of their home and walking towards her daughter, taking the fish and getting ready to cook dinner. “‘Wari, what did we just talk about earlier?”
“I know, flower. But I still do not like his staring!”
Ao’nung just shook his head and sighed, this was going to be a long night.

Summary: A forest boy shows the girl he loves a new way of seeing the world, and finally tells her how he feels
CW- None!
Author's Note- I AM SO HAPPY TO FEED YOUR DELULU BECAUSE I TOOOO AM DELUSIONAL ABOUT THIS MAN. also unrelated to the story but i love this picture of lo'ak so much😭
“Come on (Y/N)! There’s nothing to be scared of!” Lo’ak said, pulling the girl by her arm.
“Lo’ak, no!” (Y/N) chuckled, half amused and half completely terrified.
Before them stood Lo’ak’s ikran, Tatute. Lo’ak had been begging her to come for a flight with him, but (Y/N), a child of the sea, had no desire to take to the skies.
Since Lo’ak and his family had arrived in Awa’atlu, and she’d taken it upon herself to teach him the way of water, the two young na’vi had just been getting closer and closer. (Y/N) was so beautiful it made him nervous, and her beauty was matched by her intelligence and kindness. Lo’ak hadn’t wanted to admit it when his siblings teased him about the sway his tail wagged whenever she grabbed his hand or how his pupils dilated every time he looked into her beautiful eyes, so he’d stormed off and found Payakan. But when the tulkun had expressed the same sentiment, telling him, “don’t run from your feelings,” he’d begun to think.
Would she feel the same? Would she be weirded out? Laugh in his face and tell everyone about how the outcast told her he liked her? No, no, (Y/N) would never do that. He supposed the worst would never come if he never even told her.
So, that was how the Lo’ak and (Y/N) had ended up here, on top of one of the highest cliffs of the girl’s island home, which the Sully’s ikrans had taken as their own. So much of their relationship had been based on her showing him her world, so Lo’ak thought he’d show her a piece of his for a change.
“C’mon (Y/N)!” Lo’ak climbed onto the creature and held a hand out to her, staring deep into her eyes. “Do you trust me?”
(Y/N) felt her heart flutter as she looked at him. “Yes, I do.”
She took his strong, large hand and allowed him to pull her onto Tatute’s back. She placed her free hand on his shoulder while he released the other and grabbed her thigh to make sure she was secure behind him. When he realized what he’d done, he quickly looked up at her, and she simply smiled and looked down, both of their cheeks getting hot.
“See?” Lo’ak said softly. “Not so scary, huh?”
“I guess not,” she replied equally gently.
They smiled at each other before Lo’ak turned and addressed Tatute. “You ready, big guy?” The ikran screeched happily in response. “Alright, (Y/N), hold on tight!”
(Y/N) awkwardly wrapped her arms loosely around his torso, but that quickly changed. They ascended into the skies, and she held herself as close to him as possible, her skin touching his back.
“Lo’ak!” she whimpered, burying her face in his shoulder.
“It’s okay! I promise I got you. Look.”
Lo’ak nudged her with his shoulder, encouraging her to lift her head.
Slowly, (Y/N) lifted her head and opened her eyes, and Lo’ak wished he could savor the way her eyes lit up forever.
As they soared, (Y/N) was seeing her island in a way she never had before. The way the stars reflected over the sea andmade the waves glimmer, the beautiful patterns created by their woven homes, and the glow of the bioluminescent plants and animals on the cliffs. The way the glowing underwater plants flowed through the mangroves and the line between the teal green shades of the reef and the deep blue of the open ocean. (Y/N) could hardly process the beauty before her.
“Oh, Lo’ak,” she said, growing more comfortable as she slightly stood up to see more clearly. (Y/N) knew her home was beautiful, but after growing up there, she’d settled in its picturesque landscape. For the first time in years, she was experiencing wonder at the island. She felt like a child again when everything was new and radiant. And if it weren’t for Lo’ak, she never would have seen it this way. She tore her eyes away from the island, and as she cast her gaze upon him, she felt her heart grow warmer and fonder.
Eventually, they landed on a quiet beach on one of the smaller surrounding islands, walking hand in hand on the beach. They felt like the only two na’vi in the world there together, with nothing but the sound of the waves behind them.
They sat down together on the sand, (Y/N) retaking his hand as she said, “That was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen, Lo’ak, thank you.” She smiled at him, and it was so beautiful Lo’ak almost forgot how to respond.
“I just wanted to show how beautiful your home is through my eyes… how beautiful you are through my eyes… how I see you.”
(Y/N)’ s eyes widened before she looked down shyly. And Lo’ak, feeling bold, decided to take it a step forward, placing his finger under her chin and forcing her to look at him.
“(Y/N), I’ve never met anyone like you. No one has ever understood me the way you do. You make me feel like I have worth like I’m not an outcast or “the one with demon blood.”
(Y/N) shook her head at that. She’d hated the way the tsahík called him that and held his hand out in front of everyone.
She took his hand with both of hers as he continued, holding his extra finger tightly.
“You just-I mean you’re just- I guess- what I’m trying to say is, you know…” Lo’ak stuttered. As his nerves began to take over, he quickly fumbled for the pouch he’d attached to his loincloth earlier in the day. He handed it to her with a nervous smile.
Taken aback, (Y/N) took it into her hands, asking, “What’s this?”
“I just thought- you know, maybe you’d like it.”
As he spoke, (Y/N) turned over the pouch, and out of it came a beautiful necklace made of tiny pearls, white and blue beads, and little orange shells. In the center was a large piece of blue abalone, resembling the view of the island they’d had from the sky.
“Lo’ak, this is…” she examined the necklace carefully. “It’s beautiful. I love it, thank you, Lo’ak.”
“I wanted you to be able to have a piece of me with you… something that would remind you of this night. There’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time. (Y/N)...”
“Yes?” (Y/N) replied so, so, softly, like she was drunk off of this moment just being with him.
“ (Y/N)... I love who I am with you. I always want to be with you. I see you.” Lo’ak cupped her cheek with his hand.
(Y/N) laughed quietly, placing her hand on his chest. “I see you, ma Lo’ak. I have from the moment I saw you.”
Lo’ak laughed too then, placing his free hand on her cheek. “You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that.”
(Y/N) held up the necklace still in her hands. “Put it on me?”
Lo’ak nodded, taking it from her hands and moving behind her. He gently grabbed her hair and tossed it over her shoulder, pulling the necklace around her neck and tying it tightly, dropping his hands to her shoulders when he was done, rubbing them up and down her arms.
The intimacy of the moment made (Y/N) shudder. She turned to him with blown-out pupils, her heart going a million miles a minute.
“Lo’ak…” she started to speak, but he beat her to it, looking down at her mouth, licking his lips.
“- Can I kiss you?” he interrupted.
“I’ve been waiting for you to since our first lesson.”
Lo’ak didn’t need to be told twice. He cupped her cheeks and pulled her towards him, locking her lips into a heated kiss. (Y/N) gasped at the passion. For someone who could barely get out his words when he was trying to confess to her, he sure didn’t seem shy now. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled herself closer to him, his arms falling around her waist and holding her tightly as if he never wanted to leave this exact moment with her. Their bodies moved in perfect rhythm together, as if they were always meant to be like this with each other. Hot, gasping for breath, lips pressed against each other’s, hands exploring each other, while the waves roared and ikran chirped, Eywa singing her music of love.
Finally, just when they could no longer breathe, they separated, staring lovingly at each other. They both began to giggle, looking at their feet shyly.
Suddenly, Lo’ak tilted his head back, chuckling, and said “Oh, Eywa.”
“What is it?” (Y/N) asked, still giggling.
Lo’ak sighed. “Just wait till Neteyam and Kiri hear about this.”

The Sully family meets the Metkayina - Na'vi subtitles
Notes under the cut!
First of all, irayo nìtxan to community members Tokahriem, Teriosay, and Karyu Neytiri for proofreading the translation to find the slips/typos and for making good suggestions for some of the lines!
I chose this scene because it gave me a chance to contrast the Forest and Reef dialects, which was fun. In my own communication I prefer to stick to Forest because I'm more familiar with it, we know more about it, and I just kinda prefer it atm (I think this is the case for most speakers tbh, though there are at least one or two who now default to Reef I think), but it's fun to dip my toes into Reef every once in a while if the situation calls for it.
uturu vs. utùru, toruk vs. torùk, etc. Fans watching the video who aren't familiar with the language might be confused as to why the same word is sometimes spelled with ù and sometimes not. This is a dialect difference. Reef distinguishes between the ù and u sounds, Forest does not.
Similarly, tsy in Forest is pronounced ch in Reef, hence the Forest spelling of "Jake", Tsyeyk, becoming Cheyk when Tonowari says it (actually, funnily enough "Cheyksùli" sounds quite a bit closer to the original English "Jake Sully" than "Tsyeyksuli" does lol. The reason I did not include the ù in Suli even though that'd be closer to "Sully" is because in the actual audio you can still hear Tonowari pronounce it Suli, as the Omatikaya do in A1. I guess Jake's just used to being known as Suli now hrh)
dropping "lu" According to KP (language creator), Reef Na'vi has a tendency to drop the word "lu" sometimes, but we don't currently have much information on when exactly this happens. As such I was very hesitant to actually do it. In the original version of my script I simply didn't drop any, just in case. Teriosay and Neytiri suggested a few lines were it might be able to drop, and for the final version I took roughly half of those suggestions. These lines were:
Ayoe [lu] sute wione. Ayngari [lu] sute na'rìnge. Bun [lu] flì fori. [lu] foru reypay vrrtepe! [lu] nawma eyktan tsame Torùk Makto.
ngä'än Also according to KP, Reef Na'vi has a tendency to sometimes turn unstressed ä into e, but again we don't currently have much information on where. For the sake of differentiating Forest and Reef in this video I went ahead and converted all the unstressed ä's by default, but ran into a problem with ngä'än.
If I change the unstressed ä into e but leave the stressed one as-it, I get nge'än. Simple enough, right? But wait: Reef drops the glottal stop between non-identical vowels (for example, za'u becomes zau. Between identical vowels, this drop is optional—rì'ìr can become rììr or remain rì'ìr). So if ngä'än changes to nge'än, does it further change to ngeän because the vowels are no longer identical??
Buuuuut then speaker Tekre reminded me that the word rä'ä, which is one of the few we have explicit Reef examples of from KP, does not become re'ä let alone reä, so unless KP changes his mind about that, this is probably one of the cases where unstressed ä does not change. so in the end I just left ngä'än as-is lol.
It's possible that in the future we could get further information that changes this, as well as the places where lu should be dropped, but for now I'm rolling with it.
…ka la’a atxan tswolayon In the original version of my script I used the word ngim, but Karyu Neytiri suggested txan; she said that ngim might still be ok but that txan felt more natural to her in this context. I still liked the sound of ngim, but given that Neytiri has far more experience with the language than I do, I trusted her judgment on this one and changed it.
"It seems Eywa has turned her back on you" Speaking of Karyu Neytiri, in a later conversation she mentioned that she translated this line as lam fwa Eywal ngati nadu. I translated it as datsìng ngati Eywal.
Neytiri's translates back to English as "it seems that Eywa disapproves of you." Mine translates back as roughly "[I] suppose Eywa abandons you". Both versions work, I think, just thought it was interesting to see the differences :)
I thought you said D, B, and G didn't exist in Na'vi! They don't.....in the Forest dialect ;)
Syllables that start with tx, px, and kx in Forest change to d, b, and g, respectively, in Reef. Txampay becomes dampay, pxun becomes bun, kxetse becomes getse, etc.
...still feels weird to read tho ;w;

Time flies
Sully family x child reader part 2
Part one- Eywas mystery
The years following when the sully’s took you in up until the time when you had to leave to go to the Metkayina clan
~ age- 8 ~
Neytiri was teaching you how weave along with Kiri. It had been two years since Jake and Neytiri had found you. You had started calling the two your mom and dad with ease
“Mama can you help me please” you called out to Neytiri, your hands were stuck in the rope you were trying to weave into a net. Neytiri took one look at you and chuckled slightly
“come here little one” you kinda waddled her way trying not to trip on the longer pieces that were hitting your legs. Neytiri carefully unwrapped your hands and showed you the weave process again. This time she helped you more so you didn’t get your hands stuck again. Soon you had a simple, but effective net which you proudly showed Kiri
“Look I finished mine” your voice said happily showing your sister the next
“I finished mine too, I made a basket” Kiri said as she smiled
“We should use it to collect flowers Kiri!” She nodded so the two of you kissed your mom on the cheek and ran off into the flower field near by
~ age-12~
Neteyam , Lo’ak, Kiri and you were standing at the edge of the Hallelujah mountain
“It’s time to for you four to tame an Ikran” Jake said smiling
“Dad what if we fall” you say looking down and gulping. Jake pats your back softly “then I’ll swoop down and catch you, now go on you four”
Kiri is the first one to bond with an Ikran. She didn’t do it in the normal way though, she kind of befriended it?
Next was Neteyam, he tamed one quickly and efficiently. Within a few minutes he was flying around on his Ikran with ease
Lo’ak got thrown around a lot by the Ikran, he almost fell off when the Ikran flew down the mountain but he was able to connect his queue at the last minute
Finally it was your turn, the Ikran you had decided to try to tame was blue with streaks of purple. When you tried to get close she snapped at you ready to bite if you got too close, you had to admit that you were intimidated by the flying creature.
“Well here goes nothing” you said jumping on the ikrans back as she turned around.
The Ikran screeched and tried to throw you off as it flew into the air. Your hands struggled trying to grab your queue while still holding on to the creature. From the ground Jake was on his Ikran ready to grab you incase anyone happened and you fell off.
Finally you grabbed your queue and connected it with the ikrans. After a few minutes the blue and purple Ikran stopped thrashing and began to fly normally. You fly down to where your dad and your siblings were.
“You did great Y/N, but don’t scare me like that again” Neteyam said concerned about the fact that you could’ve plummeted to your death
“Don’t worry brother dad would never have let that happen plus Y/N way too good for that” Lo’ak said high fiving you
“Yeah she did much better then you two idiots” Kiri said as she wrapped her arm around your shoulder
Jake congratulated the four of you for doing so well. The five of you flew back to Neytiri and Tuk to share the accomplishments
~age-14~
The RDA was back on pandora and Quatrich, your dads old enemy, was back as an avatar. Right now because of your brother Lo’aks stupid need to see an old battle field him, Kiri, Tuk, Spider, and you were all being held hostage by Quatrich and his goons.
“Show me your hands girl” Quatrich said in very broken Na’vi, his goons had a gun to almost everyone’s head except Tuk who had a knife to her throat
You flipped Quatrich off as a way to show your five finger which made him roll his eyes. He had taken Lo’ak communication device a hours ago and had given your father instructions for giving himself up in exchange for you and your sibling. Suddenly you could hear your mothers signal, to anybody else it would just be interpreted as another sound of the pandorean jungle but to the sully kids it meant that their mother was near and ready to rescue them. Finally an opportunity to strike arises and Neytiri shots the guy holding Kiri with an arrow. Neytiri, Jake and Neteyam all spring into action. You, Tuk and Lo’ak bite the hands of your captors managing to distract them enough so that you could get away. Shots rang in the air and one of the avatars had Kiri but not for long as neytiri fired another arrow that landed straight into his chest. Neteyam almost gets shot while trying to rescue you guys but in the end all of the sully’s come out with minor injuries
“Where’s Spider?” Kiri’s voice trembled. At that moment everyone realizes that the human boy had been taken
“I’m so sorry kids, but I don’t think we can rescue him” Jake says, it hurt to see his children’s reaction more than losing Spider
That night you could hear your parents argue about what happened and how your dad just wanted to keep your family safe and the safety of the clan… which meant having to move, the RDA only cared about him and his family so if your family disappeared then both the family and the clan would be safe. You ran out of the hut, much to your parent’s surprise because they thought you and your siblings were asleep.
You sat outside of your home upset by your fathers words. You could feel someone sit down next to you
“I’m so sorry baby girl” Jake said wrapping his arm around you, you sob leaning in to your fathers embrace
“I don’t wanna leave dad, this is our home it’s not fair” your voice trembles
“I know baby, buts it’s for safety” Jake says looking black to see the rest of your family outside.
“You know what your father says, right kids” your mom says with a solemn expression
“Sully’s stick together” the sully kids say unenthusiastically
“Come on with attitude, I know you guys don’t want to leave but it needs to happen” Jake says hugging Tuk who was about to cry
The next day your father gave up his title of Olo’eyktan to Tarsem who sadly accepted. The entire clan was sad to see your family leave but they understood why you all had to leave
Everyone got on their Ikran, Tuk going with your mom, it took a few days to get to the Metkayina clan. When the sully’s landed they were surrounded by Metkayina, your father telling all of you to behave as some of the younger boys giving the family wary glares
“Look what is that? Is it supposed to be a tail” one of the metkayina boys says talking about Neteyam making some other metkayina laugh
You see Lo’ak entranced by a a girl walking out of the water and you just roll your eyes
“It’s too small how are they supposed to swim” the same boys say referring to your tail
“Do not Ao’nung Rotxo” the girl says, Lo’ak says hi to her and she smiles and looks away shyly
soon their Olo’eyktan (tonowari) came out of the water walking through the crowd to your family
“I see you Tonowari” your father says bowing slightly the rest of the family following his example
“Jake sully” Toniwari says as he acknowledges your family
Soon the tsahik came through the crowd her expression cold
“I see you, Ronal Tsahik of the metkayina” your father voice rang
“I see you Ronal” says Neytiri
“Why do you come to us Jake Sully” says Tonowari curious as to why forest people would come to their home near the ocean
“We seek uturu…” Jake says making the Metkayina gasp
“Uturu?” Ronal says surprised by your father statement
“…a sanctuary for my family” your father continues. Ronal walks forward after exchanging looks with her mate
“We are reef people. You are forest people. Your skills mean nothing here” the Olo’eyktan said as Ronal continues to circle your family
“So we will learn your ways, right” Jake said the last part directed towards his family
Ronal grabs your mothers tail and then Tuks arms
“Their arms are thin…” Ronal says walking and grabbing Kiris tail “…their tails are weak. You will be slow in the water”. Then she grabs hands hands raising them in the air
“These children are not even true Na’vi” she states as the Metkayina gasp
“Yes we are” you say upset. But she doesn’t care and just goes to grab Lo’aks hand and raises it to show his five fingers
“They have demon blood!” The tsahik claim immediately making the rest of the Metkayina more hostile towards your family. God how your blood was boiling at this point. You hadn’t done anything to this woman and she already didn’t like you and your family
“Look! Look” your father shows his hands “I was born to the sky people and now I’m Na’vi. You can adapt” he says turning back to Tonowari
“We can adapt” Jake says almost desperately
“My husband was Toruk Makto. He lead the clans to victory against the sky people” says Neytiri in an harsh tone as she looks at Tonowari.
“This you call victory? Hiding among strangers…” your mother looks down “…it seems Eywa has turned her back on you chosen” your mom hisses and Ronal retribution with a hiss of her own, you could see that the two were ready to fight at any second.
Jake cuts in between the two women apologizing for your mothers behavior claiming that the journey has made her tired and easily irritable and Tonowari changes the subject
“Toruk Makto is a a Great War leader. All Na’vi people know his story. But we Metkayina are not at war…” he turns to your father “… we cannot let you bring your war here” Toniwari says
“Look I’m done with war, okay? I just wanna keep my family safe” your father says holding Tuk
“Uturu has been asked” your mother says harshly
The Olo’eyktan and the Tsahik exchange looks before Ronal nods slightly
“Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us. Treat them as our brothers and sisters. But they do not know the sea. So, they will be like babies taking their first breath. Teach them our ways so they do not know the shame of being useless” you could see your fathers relief as Tonowari said these words. The family thanked him and he explained that his children Ao’nung and Tsireya will you and your sibling their ways. The boy Ao’nung had obvious protest but was shut down by his father and the Tsireya just smiled and showed your family around. The next few weeks we’re going to be hard.
———————————————————————
There WILL be a part three focusing on your time with the metkayina clan so pls don’t comment saying it’s a cliffhanger. Anyways hoped you enjoyed :)

So this is going to be my first ever story. I don’t know how to start but I hope all of you reading it will enjoy!😊
Chosen|pt1
Lay’ra was Jake’s and Neytiri’s first born daughter. But they didn’t love her no… they viewed her as an alien. Yes she had three fingers and a thumb, no eyebrows or anything, she didn’t inherit her father’s sky people genes, she looked like a normal na’vi except for her tail. Her tail was not slim like her mother’s or father’s. Her tail was thick like the one of metkayina. That was the reason for her becoming an outcast of her clan. They avoided her at all cost. A year after her birth her younger brother was born they named him Neteyam. After Neteyam there was Kiri then Lo’ak and the last was Tuktirey or Tuk as they called her.
Neytiri made a songcord for all of her children, meanwhile she forgot to do her oldest daughter’s songcord. Ley’ras grandmother Mo’at helped Ley’ra to make her own songcord from her birth to her connection to the tree of souls, to her siblings birth (a drop of blood in amber).
When Tuk was born Lay’ra didn’t have any bad intentions, she only wanted to hold her baby sister. She was old enough now that she was 9 years old. She wanted to hold her baby sister but Neytiri just hissed at her calling her every filthy name on Pandora to not touch her pure child. Every one from Neteyam(8) to Kiri and Lo’ak(7) got to hold Tuk but Lay’ra was the only one not to do it.
Neytiri hissed and shouted at the girl to get out of their home, like something snapped in her, Jake grabbed his daughters queue pulling her away from Neytiri who was still shouting at the scared girl until the girls grandmother came, slapped her fathers arms from her queue and took her away.
Mo’at was the only one to see her granddaughter for not the demon everyone called her but for a little skilled and curious girl. She was the only one that tough her anything eventually accepting her as her tsakrem. She saw how she bonded with the wild life and animals, small and big. She saw how the girl stumbled upon an ikran and asked it to be her friend. She saw the same ikran bonding with her granddaughter making tsaheylu without the roars of the animal or any resistance.
Mo’at took Lay’ra out of her family’s tent helping her granddaughter pack her stuff. She herself decided to send Lay’ra away to help her find happiness that her granddaughter oh so longed for.
After packing she hurriedly walked to her granddaughter’s ikran, in one hand a cloth full of Lay’ras things in other her granddaughter’s hand. Mo’at helped her granddaughter get up on her ikran patting her head and stroking her cheeks as she gave her the songcord. Her grandmother had already put a bead of amber with a drop of Tuktirey’s blood, to resemble that her sibling was born and she became a sister once again. Lay’ra stared at her songcord now having four of these kind of beads before looking at her grandmother.
“Grandmother… where should I go?” She asked scared and shock mixed on her face from not knowing what to do.
“Eywa will guide you, let the wind take you to a place that you could call home” Mo’at answered gently as not to worry her granddaughter further.
Mo’at kissed her granddaughter’s forehead, taking her small hand in her bigger one. She placed an earring in the little girls hand and earring that was made from the feathers and beads that her grandmother collected. The granddaughter looked at her grandmother one more time before launching herself at Mo’at and hugging her tightly, letting nothing but a few tears roll down her cheeks before she had to pull away.
“Grandmother, it is time for me to go” Lay’ra said looking into her grandmothers eyes, the same golden eyes they shared.
“Go, go and never come back, never come back here, find your own happiness, now go!” Her grandmother waved her hands in the air as if pushing her away when the only thing she wanted was for her to hug her granddaughter.
Lay’ra flew away taking one last glance at her home, the forest she was born at before patting her Ikrans side and turning to look forward.
10 hours she flew on her ikran, with no food only water. 10 hours she flew until she reached the Awa’atlu village. The village where the reef people lived. As soon as Lay’ra was in sight of the villagers she heard a horn blowing. She landed in the sand and jumped off of her ikran, gently breaking tsaheylu and patting her Ikrans head.
Lay’ra saw as the villagers of metkayina crowded her. She felt scared. The villagers looked at her tail mostly, wandering how a forest na’vi got a tail of the metkayina.
A minute passed before Lay’ra heard a woman’s voice telling the villagers to part and make way for her. Lay’ra looked at the beautiful woman, she was the tsahik of the metkayina Ronal. Lay’ra bowed and brought her fingers to her forehead lowered them.
“Oel ngati kameie” Lay’ra said to the woman who stayed silent, not returning the gesture only circling around the girl inspecting her. Finally Ronal stoped behind Lay’ra looking at her tail in curiosity before she crouched down and touched the girls tail.
Lay’ra startled by the touch flinched a little and turned to look at Ronal with a worried look on her face. She didn’t know what the other woman was thinking.
“I came to seek uturu” Lay’ra said lowering her eyes to the ground. Ronal just looked at the girl before placing her hand on the girl’s cheek.
“You have come far, stay” Ronal said her voice soft. The girl looked at Ronal before leaning in her hand as a few tears slipped down her cheeks, even if she was strong, she was just a child.
Ronal brought the girl in to her embrace and hugged her as the girl sobbed into the Tsahik’s neck. Ronal picked up the little nine year old girl and started walking to her home.
“We will let you stay” Ronal talked softly in to the girls ear. Lay’ra who never felt the warmth of a mother hugged Ronal tighter muttering “sorry” over and over again.
After Ronal brought Lay’ra to her home two little feet were heard running to her. And then a man’s voice broke the silence.
“Ronal who is that that you have with you?” Lay’ra immediately recognised the man, he was Tonowari the chef of the metkayina. Lay’ra felt overwhelmed and scared so she looked at Ronal with her racing heart trying to figure out what to do or what to say.
“It’s okay, don’t worry little girl” Ronal said to Lay’ra patting her back before she turned to her mate.
“This child was seeking uturu, I agreed, she will be staying with us” Ronal explained to Tonowari. Children were staring at the girl in wonder and curiosity, Tonowari slowly approached Ronal looking at the girl.
“Hello little girl, do you have a name?” Tonowari asked softly to which she relaxed.
“My name is Lay’ra te Suli Neytiri'ite” Lay’ra said quietly looking at Ronal’s children in wonder.
“Aren’t you Jake Sully daughter?” Tonowari asked only to be met with the watery eyes of the girl.
“No” Was all that Lay’ra managed to say before tears started to fall down her face. Ronal seeing what was happening crouched down so her children were able to see the girl. The two children looked at the girl curiously before slowly coming to their mother’s side inspecting the girl like their mother did a few moments ago. Lay’ra was still sobbing until she felt a little hand on her forearm patting her, it was a little boy and then she felt another hand on her shoulder which belonged to the little girl. Lay’ra wasn’t crying now. She looked at the children trying to figure out what they wanted until the girl spoke.
“I’m Tsireya and that’s my brother Ao’nung” Tsireya said softly.
”Im Lay’ra” Lay’ra replied softly as she looked at the children. Before looking at Ronal who was still holding her. Tisreya and Ao’nung looked at their mother.
“Mama can we play with Lay’ra?” Ronal head turned to Lay’ra nodding her head to her children.
“Lay’ra do you want to play with our children?” She asked the little girl which in return gave her a nod. Wiping her tears away she got out of the arms of Ronal who was still crouching and slowly walked to Tsireya and Ao’nung.
Ronal watch as the children started to play. Lay’ra smiling small smiles. Then she turned to her mate Tonowari before she stood up from her crouching position and spoke up.
“She’s going to stay with us”
“Why?” Tonowari asked her softly.
“I felt a pull to her when I first saw her, it was as if Eywa was telling me to take care of that little girl” Ronal said matching his soft tone as she watched the children playing together.
Lay’ra sensing that the adults were talking about her stopped and looked at them, Tonowari seeing this only smiled at the girl. Lay’ra returned her attention to the siblings who ran to her side. Lay’ra was taller than Ao’nung and Tsireya so she patted their heads with a smile on her face.
A month had passed since Lay’ra arrived at the Awa’atlu village. The girl picked up on sign language pretty quickly, she enjoyed learning. Ronal taught the girl about the clan and their way of life.
Lay’ra experienced what it was like to be wanted, to be seen. She clung to Ronal or Tonowari, played with Tsireya or Ao’nung. She started to warm up to other people. The people didn’t question her appearance, didn’t ask why she looked like a forest na’vi but had reef people tail, didn’t call her a demon or made her an outcast, Lay’ra felt like she belonged here. She felt happy.
Years passed and Lay’ra turned 16, Ao’nung was 15 and Tsireya 13. In that time Ronal and Tonowari decided to take the girl as their own, adopt her. Now Ronal was her mother Tonowari her father and Tsireya and Ao’nung were her siblings. Ronal helped the girl add the beads to her songcord, from the day she had to leave the forest, to the day she became one of the people, being the youngest to pass her Iknimaya at the age of 14 where she got her own skimwing. She brought shells that symbolised Lay’ras adoption into the family.
Everything was perfect, peaceful… until one day she heard the horn blowing. Looking at the sky she saw five ikran’s flying in to her village. Lay’ra was in the water swimming with her sister on their ilu.
She looked at her sister who was already looking at her, both of them nodded at each other and swam closer to the land.
When they reached the land both of them emerged from the water fixing their hair. Lay’ra saw darker blue colours amongst the lighter ones. Looking closer she recognised them as a forest na’vi with their slim hands and tails. She looked at the children firstly going around them slowly while Tsireya slapped Ao’nung on the arm to stop him from making fun of the newcomers. Looking at the children Lay’ra saw two boys and two girls. Going from what looked like the oldest to the youngest. It’s when she saw the parents that she stopped. She recognised them. She recognised the ones that gave her pain and suffering, she recognised Toruk Makto and his mate.
When Jake saw Lay’ra he looked at her as if he had seen a ghost. Neytiri turned a little bit paler in the realisation of who was standing in front of her. She exchanged glances with her husband before turning to Lay’ra, opening her mouth to say something she was interrupted with a skimwing flying above their heads. Lay’ra looked relieved at the one who was on the skimwing.
“Father!” The girl shouted with a relieved smile.

Facts of y/n you didn't know about Pt.1 (?)
(Rare image of y/n)
If the Metkayina Family ever goes to the mall, they'll have to put y/n on a backpack leash because she wonders off when they're being supervised.
Don't give y/n energy drinks because she'll go apeshit and will try to take over the world.
Don't feed y/n after midnight, Tonowari did it once and regretted his life decision.
If y/n ever has a phone, she'll have the most random shit ever. Like she'll take pictures of two possums having a dance battle. She has the video of Pizza Rat which makes her laugh like she lost her mind.
She once wore Tsireya's lashes and wouldn't give them back because she liked them (she gave back)
She once challenged Rotxo into a beyblade battle and won, then proceeds to rub it in his face.
She tried to fight a dog before *cough* Spider *cough*
Y/n watches Bluey and her favorite character is Muffin. (They'd be a great duo)
She stole Tonowari's car once and drove it to get McDonald's with Ao'nung. (They got Tsireya food too)
She once broke the TV by sprinting towards it.
Once they went to an Aquarium, y/n wanted to free the fish by trying to break the glass.
Hides her snacks in her room fearing that Ao'nung will eat them.
Can break dance
When it comes to family photos, y/n straight up looks adopted (Is adopted)
She once challenged Spider into a fight to death because they can only be one of them.

hear me out, jus fluffy cuddling with ao'nung 👀
My Flower
summary: after a long day all ao'nung craves is to be in your arms
0.7k words fem!metkayina reader, lots of fluff!
──── ⑅*❀*⑅ ────
It had been a tiring day for Ao’nung. Between hunting, helping his mother with her duties and teaching those dreaded Sully kids how to live in the water, he was exhausted. All he wanted to do was to crawl into your arms and doze off.
You resided in your marui a section closed off with a sheer netting fabric that acted as a makeshift curtain. Laying in the hammock that was hung in the corner of your room, you slowly swung yourself listening to the sound of the ocean, enjoying the serenity your empty marui had.
Ao’nung saw you so peaceful his heart melted. You looked so beautiful. So beautiful the way your hair wrapped around your shoulder and the way your chest rose softly.
“Hey flower.” He said softly moving the curtain aside to enter the room you were in. You sat up smiling at your boyfriend who stood in front of you.
“Come.” You motioned him to lay in the hammock with you, scooting carefully to make enough space for the two of you to lay together.
Ao’nung followed and laid on the hammock, the course fabric digging into his skin as he laid on your chest as a pillow. His other hand snaked around your waist to bring you closer to him, almost so your skin could meld together.
“Was it a long day?” You questioned him, running your hand up and down his chest, tracing undetermined patterns with your fingers.
“Mhm.” He hummed caressing the spot where he held your waist with his thumb. “Was tiring.”
You nodded, listening to his breathing, watching his chest rise and fall as he stared at where his hands were. Leaving a tender kiss on his forehead as your fingers ran up and down his sternum.
“You should rest well tonight then.”
A tender kiss to your shoulder was made before he looked into your eyes. “I’m sure to rest well when you’re here with me.” A soft giggle was let out in response to his endearing words.
Ao’nung let himself listen to your heartbeat, it was slow a calming pounding that was lulling him to sleep. He let his hands run down to the space between your thigh and hip, laying soft touches onto the area as he caressed you.
“Those Sully kids really suck in the water.”
You chuckled giving a soft push on the shoulder.
“Be nicer to them, being cruel is a bad look.”
“Only cause you said so.”
You chuckled as he scrunched his face up at the thought of being kind to them.
“If you frown any more, your face will get stuck.” Now Ao’nung was the one giving you a light push, his scowl transforming into a bright smile.
“Y’know, Ao’nung you’re a lot cuter when you let your soft side show.”
“Well, it only exists because of you.” A blush formed on your face as Ao’nung begun to tease you about getting all flustered.
“Look my little flower is all flustered!” He poked your hot cheeks as you grabbed his hands to stop him.
“Stoppp” You whined, your face lighting up. “Do not tease me.”
“I’m not, just loving banter.”
“Oh, shut up”
Ao’nung chuckled before scooting upwards to meet you face to face. He admired your features, you were truly beautiful to him. You were his flower.
He brought the hand that rested on your hip up to your chin guiding it up to look at him. He felt your love radiate off you into him and you felt the same. Pupils wide and chests rising in anticipation, Ao’nung pulled you towards his lips.
He softly kissed you, lips meeting together, connecting like puzzle pieces. Your lips were soft against his as he used his other hand to caress the small of your back pushing you closer into him. Your hands travelled up and down his chest, eyes squished hard together as you enjoyed the feeling of Ao’nung’s lips on yours.
As the air between you ran out, Ao’nung broke from your kiss and stared into you. The air thick and soft pants exiting both of you.
“I love you my flower.”

Ocean Eyes~ Neteyam Sully x fem! older sister of Tsireya! reader
masterlist~
summary~ You are the older sister of Tsireya, and have been ostracised by both your family and Clan from birth. But everyting changes when the family of Toruk Makto seeks uturu with the Metkayina.
sorry i suck at summaries!
warnings~ use of y/n, Ao'nung is a jerk, language, violence, death mentioned, characters aged up to 20's, please lmk if i missed any!
italics are in the future in this chapter and italic dialogue is in Na'vi
wordcount~ 2.3K+
I've been watchin' you for some time, Can't stop starin' at those ocean eyes...
Your hands grasped at the cool metal surface of the now sinking ship, but to no avail. It was slick as oil as you felt an arm yank you up. Nails dug into your skin so deeply you could feel the warmth of blood spreading down your arm.
"Let go of me!" you hiss before being cuffed to a rail.
The man laughed and then tossed Kiri down next to you, her face crestfallen when your eyes met.
"Talk to me, Corporal. This ship's goin' down and your girls with it. Your boy didn't have to die."
You flinch at that, feeling a chill run down your spine. Neteyam was-
An arrow flew by interrupting your thoughts before you were uncuffed and felt a sharp sting on your neck.
Hissing you struggle against the arm holding you down, but it only made the knife dig deeper into your throat.
"Runnin' out of time here Corporal," Quaritch said, his grip tightening.
"You already lost one kid today. You really wanna lose another?"
Jake grunted as he moved forward, his knife held out.
"Do not test me," Quaritch seethed, his eyes narrowing in anger.
"Just kill him, dad!" Kiri shouts, as you flinch.
He moves the knife closer to her throat, "Weapons down."
Hesitating Jake tosses the hatchet and knife to the ground as Kiri shouts, "Don't!"
You barely register the next words out of the man's mouth when a boy comes out from behind a pillar.
"No! No, don't hurt her!" he shouts as rushes in front of him.
"Stand there! Don't move," Quaritch shouts, his voice filled with anger as he takes the knife away from your throat.
You can already feel a warm and steady trickle flowing down your throat as Kiri looks at you and gasps, "Your nec-"
But she is interrupted as Neytiri leaps forward and grabs the boy, holding her knife to his throat.
Quaritch flinches as she speaks, "Release. Or I cut."
"What you think I care about some kid?" he laughs.
"He's not mine, we're not even the same species."
"Jus- please don't! Don't hurt her!" the boy sputters as Kiri pleads for her mother not to kill him.
Your eyes fall to the knife on your thigh, so carefully concealed they hadn't even noticed it when cuffing you. Taking advantage of the Colonel's distraction you reach down and grab it, hand shaking on the hilt.
"A son for a son," Neytiri hisses as you unsheathe the blade, the shell hilt cool in your palm.
She cuts his chest, "I cut," and you strike. Slashing upward you cut the Colonel's face.
And that's when you feel it, the cold metal of the Colonel's blade in your chest, the warm liquid sprouting forward and Kiri's hand on your arm as you fall backward.
Neteyam watched as the Metkayina emerged from the ocean, her long hair dripping wet and her eyes sparkling in the sunlight. He couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat as she smiled nervously in his direction. Giving a small wave he took a step toward her as he waited for Tsireya and the others to join him.
"I don't think I've seen you around here before," he said as he approached her, stopping a few steps in front of her in the sand.
A look of melancholy washed over her as she smiled sadly, "I-"
Before she could answer the sound of a throat clearing interrupted him, "What are you doing here?"
Turning back, he could see Ao'nung and Tsireya standing behind him. Ao'nung's voice was cold as ice, his expression angry, while Tsireya's was twisted in a mix of confusion and concern as she reached out to the girl.
Her expression shifted to one of discomfort as she glanced at Ao'nung before turning her gaze back to Neteyam. "I was just taking a swim," she replied, her voice soft and subdued.
Neteyam could sense the tension between Ao'nung and y/n, and he felt a protective instinct kick in. "Is there a problem?" he asked, his voice firm.
Ao'nung snorted dismissively. "No problem. We were just wondering what a sänui is doing here," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
She tensed beside Neteyam, but before she could respond, Tsireya stepped forward, placing a hand on Ao'nung's shoulder. "That's enough, Ao'nung. Let's go we have lessons to teach," she said firmly, her gaze flickering between Neteyam and the girl.
"Neteyam," Tsireya said, her voice strained as she walked into the waves, "Come, join us, you will learn nothing if you stay on the shore," her hand gestured for him to follow.
Glancing back in the girl's direction he gave a quick wave and leapt in with the others.
As he swam alongside Tsireya and Ao'nung, Neteyam couldn't help but wonder about the girl he had just met. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something different about her, especially with the way Ao'nung and Tsireya had treated her. And the words Ao'nung had thrown at her stumped him too, he had called her a sänui, a failure. They seemed close, yet distant at the same time, as if they were holding her at arm's length for some reason.
The lessons that day were intense, what with it being their first day in the ocean. His arms felt sore as he followed his siblings back to their mauri.
Your hands rang the water from your hair as you stepped into your family's mauri, the room tense as your Mother set down a basket and grabbed an herb from your sister.
"Tsireya tells me that Toruk Makto's children have seen you," her voice is harsh and cold, but her gaze never meets yours as you stand in the entryway.
You feel a pang of guilt as your mother's words hit you. You knew that you shouldn't have been seen with Neteyam, or any of Toruk Makto's family, but you couldn't help it. You were curious and there was something about him in particular that drew you in, something that made you feel alive.
"I- I'm sorry, Mother," you stammer, looking down at your feet. "I didn't mean to cause any trouble."
Your mother snorts, turning to face you with a scowl on her face. "You never mean to cause trouble, but trouble always seems to find you," she says bitterly her hands now holding a mixing bowl.
You feel the weight of her words, the same words she's said to you countless times before. You know why there is malice in her voice, and her eyes every time she sees you, and it cuts your soul. Honestly, it wouldn't be half bad if she would pretend you didn't exist, but your Father put a stop to that.
"I'll be more careful in the future," you say softly, hoping to diffuse the tension in the room.
Your mother nods, but her expression remains stern. "You're getting older now, y/n, and it's time for you to start thinking about your future. You can't keep running around the clan, you need to stay out of sight, and the way. It is what Eywa has willed."
You feel a lump form in your throat at her words, knowing that she's right, but don't want to give up the feeling that deep down she's wrong. That Eywa would never will such a thing, that she would never will your Mother to cast you aside the moment you took your first breath, that there was some reason you were the way you were.
"I understand Mother," you say, your voice barely above a whisper.
She gives you a curt nod before turning back to her work, signaling that the conversation is over. You take one last look around the mauri before silently slipping out, feeling the weight of your mother's gaze as you walk.
But before you can fully exit the mauri, you bump into someone who exhales deeply. Flinching you glance up to meet your Father's eyes, full of melancholy as he gives you a tight smile, "My daughter," his hand lands on your shoulder.
Biting your lip you greet him, "Father," his eyes look down at the small basket in your hands, and they grow concerned.
"Where are you going so late?"
His eyes search yours for an explanation while you try not to frown, "Just for a swim."
He sighs in relief, "Be back before eclipse," and with that he heads inside, calling out to your mother, "Ronal," his voice trails off as you walk to the shore.
As you make your way toward the shore, you can't help but feel a sense of unease. Your mother's words still linger in your mind, and you know that she's right. You can't keep running around the clan, it's time for you to start thinking about your future. But the idea of conforming to the clan's and Eywa's expectations feels suffocating, and you can't help but wonder if there's more to life than just following the will of Eywa and listening to the people gossip in hushed tones when you pass them by.
Shaking your head you reach the shore and take a deep breath, feeling the cool breeze on your face. You can taste the salt in the air and the water is calm, as you wade in slowly, feeling the gentle waves lap against your ankles. You close your eyes and let out a sigh, feeling a sense of peace wash over you. Hearing a snap you turn to see one of the Sully children standing not too far behind you on the shore. You freeze as he waves and takes a step closer.
"Hey," he whispers as the waves pick up in pace.
Feeling a chill run down your spine you quickly dive forward, the cool water engulfing you, the taste of salt on your tongue. As you swim further out, you can hear the distant chatter of the clan behind you, but you feel a sense of freedom being out here on your own. The water is your sanctuary, your escape from your troubles, and yourself. You dive deeper, feeling the pressure in your ears as you go. You know you should surface soon, but you can't help but stay down, enjoying the weightlessness of being underwater. Suddenly, you feel something brush against your leg, and you startle, quickly kicking back up to the surface.
Gasping for air, you look around, but there's no one there. You try to shake off the feeling of being watched, but it lingers, and you can't help but feel uneasy.
Neteyam stands dumbfounded on the beach after your curls disappear in the waves, the inky blackness of the waves obscuring the fact that you had ever been there in the first place as he turns to leave. Walking through the sand he wonders what you were doing out so late, and then he stops in his tracks.
In front of him stands the Tsahìk, her eyes foreboding and cold as she steps past him and towards the sea. Greeting her he quickly heads back to his family's mauri and lays down on his bed, his head swimming with thoughts of the strange girl.
The next morning he woke early to begin lessons with the ilu. Ao'nung took the lead on lessons while Tsireya demonstrated how to make Tsaheylu with them. It was just as Neteyam was about to take off with his ilu when he saw you. Your hair was now adorned with a scattering of orange and blue seashells, matching your top, and your eyes pointedly looked at the water as you called for an ilu.
As the ilu came forward you tossed it a fish, and patted its neck gently, smiling he urged his ilu to slowly move toward you. When he was mere inches from her he opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Ao'nung,
"Again today," he seethed as he swam forward on his ilu.
She jumped back startled at his approach, falling over her feet and taking in a mouth of seawater as she fell. Neteyam's hand shot out and pulled her up as she rubbed her eyes.
"What are you doing here again?" Ao'nung asked, his voice harsh as he regarded her.
"I-," she paused as she looked down in thought, her eyes clouding with tears.
Stepping in between the two Neteyam sent a glare at Ao'nung, "Why can't she be here?" he hissed as he helped you gather the scattered contents of your bag.
"And who is she to you any way that you care so much she's here," his voice is stern as he looks to Ao'nung for an answer.
Your face pales as your younger brother's eyes lock on you and he laughs, "Tsmuke is just as useless as you all are."
Neteyam looks at him warily, "What do you mean? Why insult your own sister?" his voice is heated and a wave of confusion washes over him as he steps towards him.
You were their sister? It didn't make any sense to him, why treat you so coldly and call you a sänui, and worthless. Ao'nung feigns surprise, "You don't know?"
Biting back a laugh, he continues, "Oh, of course, you wouldn't, you're from the forest, so it might be difficult to understand," his finger points at you in accusation, "She has no spirit sister. No Tsaheylu. No connection to Eywa. She is worthless."
Neteyam's eyes shot to you, his eyes concerned as you stumbled back in the waves, "Your sister?"
He could feel his blood boiling as Ao'nung laughed and Tsireya turned away, her eyes locked on the sand.
He couldn't believe that anyone, let alone her own brother, could treat her so cruelly just because she didn't have a Tsaheylu. He could see the hurt and pain in your eyes as Ao'nung's words sunk in.
Turning to face Ao'nung, he spoke firmly, "That doesn't give you the right to treat her that way. She's still your sister-"
He's cut off by your shout, "No, he's right," a sad look washes over your face as you mount the ilu, and dive forward, disappearing underneath the waves.
Feeling his anger rise his hand clenches into a fist as he turns to Ao'nung and punches him.

heyyy, could you maybe write a fic with the entire sully family x reader, where she is part of the metkayina clan, and after they get to stay she has to introduce the family to everything (instead of tsireya and aonung). They get closer and she’s a good friend to them.
She is very sweet, loves children and treats tuk like her own (this is a key element hihi)
So one day, after she goes out with tuk to entertain her, they get attacked by someone you can decide (I’m sorry but I need something angsty😭) and reader protects tuk and saves her life.
But, and here comes the “plot twist”, the sully’s misunderstand the situation and think reader did it on purpose or was trying to hurt tuk and they’re all angry and furious at her, not letting her explain.
So she retreats and doesn’t leave her marui pod for days, until someone from the clan clears it up, and they apologise to her… YOU CAN DECIDE THE ENDING, WETHER ITS HAPPY OR SAD!!!!
Thank u in advance and I have to say, I absolutely love your writing, every time I finish one of ur fics I crave moreeeee!!!❤️
summary: [y/n] saves the life of tuk, but at what cost?
a/n: hopefully this turned out good !! i’m kind of bad when it comes to misunderstanding trope because i kind of hate it ( whoopsies ) but i think it turned out okay ?? i’m just glad i finally was able to publish something after a few days. reblogs + feedback are always appreciated !!
tags: @rafeslovergirl@wxnderingthoughts @liyahsocorro @bonnibuckets @hjkshshjkhklhkl @itssiaaax @grierpilots @fleurbeass @nyotamalfoy @23victoria
warnings: mentions of blood, injury, fear, a monster-like creature pursuing tuk and [y/n], jake and neytiri being kind of mean, scars, almost dying, passing out, a lil angst, happyish ending
words: 2.4k
i would do it again
she hadn’t meant for it to go the way that it did. everytime she replayed the scene in her head, tears pricked [y/n]’s eyes. what could’ve happened—what should’ve happened. she continued to thank eywa that both her and tuk made it out alive and safe.
it’d been that morning when the youngest sully bounded up to [y/n] in the middle of her chores. “[y/n]!” she cried, joy evident in her voice.
[y/n] could not help but grin, looking up from the net that she was busy detangling. “good morning, darling tuk!”
the sully family had been in awa’atlu for several months at that point, but [y/n] had been friends with them since they first arrived. [y/n] was a former warrior of the clan, despite how young she was. she was only twenty years old, but after a former event resulting in a very severe injury, [y/n] was quickly deferred to a safer alternative that still allowed her to help her clan.
after the incident, [y/n] found herself working with the children. it was her job to begin teaching them the ways of the water, which included breathing, swimming, and free-diving. when they got to the age of learning to hunt, they were passed along to another teacher.
that was how [y/n] first met the sullys.
after tsireya and ao’nung toured the village with them, the future tsahik introduced them to [y/n]. “she will be helping us teach you our ways.”
and so she did. although her schedule was far too busy to always attend the lessons, [y/n] was there as much as she possibly could, rewarding each and every child on their progress.
[y/n] was also introduced to neytiri and jake sully by tonowari. the ole’eyktan was quick to tell them of her honorable history, especially regarding the injury. [y/n] didn’t miss the way the toruk makto’s sympathetic eyes flickered to the large scar that still burdened her up and down her right leg. but, for the first time in a long time, his careful stare did not cause her insecurity. instead, it made her feel safe, especially as she limped up and down the beach.
it did not take long for the sully family to entrust [y/n]. she was kind, caring, and she was always there to help them. a part of [y/n] drifted to the sully family once neytiri began treating her as if she was one of their own, often inviting her over for dinner.
for the first time in years, ever since the deaths of her parents, [y/n] felt like she had a true family again.
so, given their history, [y/n] was not at all shocked at the arrival of tuk on that sunny morning.
“[y/n]!” she yelled once again, stopping in front of the metkayina girl. “oh my eywa, [y/n],” tuk panted, hands clasping her knees as she caught her breath.
“oh, my!” [y/n] laughed, smiling up from where she sat on the dock. “what is the matter, dear?”
“it is so nice out today!”
[y/n] chuckled at that. “oh, isn’t it?” leave it to tuk to cause a panic only for her to exclaim that the weather was good.
“we should go out,” tuk decided, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she gave [y/n] a look.
[y/n] only raised the muscles above her eyes. “you think so?”
tuk nodded vigorously. “yes, i do! kiri is busy with mother, lo’ak wants nothing to do with me, and neteyam refuses to take me out ever.” once she finished her short rant, she stuck out her bottom lip and widened her eyes. “please, [y/n]?”
“tuk,” [y/n] groaned, covering her eyes with her hands. “that’s unfair. you’re too adorable to refuse!”
tuk grinned pridefully. “i know, isn’t it awesome?”
just like that, the two soon found themselves sharing a ride on an ilu through the reef. [y/n] smiled at the way tuk’s arms flew outwards, allowing her to reach out and feel the tingling sensation as they passed through the thick waters.
the coral was gorgeous that morning thanks to the rays of sunlight that beamed through the surface, lighting up the seafloor. “look,” [y/n] signed to tuk, pointing out a crab that waddled across the ground.
a chuckle left the sully’s lips as indicated by the small trail of bubbles that floated above them. [y/n] grinned at the way tuk raised her hand, waving at the small creature that strolled across the ocean floor.
of course, it could only stay perfect for so long, and unfortunately, the perfection did not last long enough.
[y/n] immediately felt something was wrong when the water turned the slightest bit colder. although the sully girl did not notice, the chills rising on [y/n]’s arms sent her panicking. when her ilu rumbled in dismay beneath them, she knew they needed to turn around.
“it is time to go back,” [y/n] signed quickly, the annoyance being difficult to ignore from behind her. before tuk could sign anything back, the older girl rose her hand and gestured for her to stay quiet.
just as she directed the ilu to turn around, [y/n] noticed how quiet it was. for once in her life, [y/n] could hear nothing. it was just them and the ocean.
the fish were gone, fleeing into their homes. the crab on the ground was quickly sheltered by his hole in the sand. not even the water swayed all that much. a chill settled deep in [y/n]’s bones.
she panicked at the feeling of tuk’s arms wrapping around her waist, the sully’s small face pressed into her back. it was when she felt tuk’s hand hit her that she was prompted to look up from where she observed the quiet reef.
[y/n] nearly choked on the salty water when the sight of large animal. it loomed overtop of them, a shadow cast on top of them from his mere size. it’s flippers were large, but not nearly as large as his teeth were.
although it was only split seconds, it felt like a billion years until either of them made their first move.
when the creature attempted to close the distance between them, [y/n] sent the ilu flying beneath the beast. she swallowed a yelp at the feeling of the water by her ear, his mouth nearly having chomped it off had they not moved so fast.
unfortunately, the monster was as smart as it was quick, and it was soon adjusting. with one last look over her shoulder, [y/n] sent the ilu shooting forward.
tuk’s arms clasped [y/n] desperately, her eyes hidden from reality due to the fear it brought. at that, [y/n] urged the creature they rode on to swim even faster.
as much as the ilu tried, it was nothing compared to the fins that carried the monster behind them. once [y/n] felt it catching up, the only thing she could think to do was unattached her queue from the ilu and grab tuk. as they rolled off the side, [y/n] choked back a scream at the sight of her ilu being swallowed by the beast in one quick gulp.
blood blossomed in the water. tuk stared aimlessly, her cries not going unheard. [y/n] grabbed her face, pressing a hand overtop her mouth. not only could the beast hear, but tuk was losing breath.
“hush, darling,” she signed, eyes attentive to their surroundings. “you must be quiet. it will all be okay, do you understand?” tuk only nodded.
they hid behind a large rock-like structure, and [y/n] carefully peeked out to catch an understanding of where they stood versus the beast. she instantly rolled back around, back pressed against the textured piece of nature. he was close. dangerously so.
and so, [y/n] began to hatch a plan. as she would swim out, tuk would start swimming towards the surface. [y/n] was a trained warrior and swimmer, she could outswim the monster if she used the coral to her advantage. tuk just had to get back to civilization.
just as she turned to tell tuk of her plan, it appeared that it was far too late. she only whimpered once she felt the cold temperatures of the shade once again.
[y/n] grabbed tuk’s hand, praying to eywa that tuk would stay strong and stay smart. at least one of them needed to make it out alive, and it had to be tuk.
with one last squeeze of her hand, [y/n] stood up and locked eyes with the creature. behind her back, her fingers moved gracefully to communicate to tuk.
once she was done, she brought her hands above her head, making herself seem bigger as a small attempt, although it was more of a signal to tuk. with her arms up, tuk launched herself out and up, and the beast launched itself directly at [y/n].
she dodged almost perfectly if it weren’t for the spikes that took over his skin. she hissed as her skin caught one of the thorns, flesh tearing quickly.
[y/n]’s plan was, unfortunately, not at all fool-proof. dread settled in her gut as the beast’s eyes broke away from her and instead watched the distance thanks to the sight of a swimming na’vi.
“no!” she tried to scream, although the words came out extremely muffled because of the quick water.
and so, she let every primal instinct she ever had take over.
[y/n]’d never swam so fast in her life. she let the water take over, let eywa bless her and her senses. for the first time in a couple years, she could not feel the injury of her leg. it was just her and the sea.
her eyes did not leave tuk once, not even when the swam side-by-side with the monster. not even when he nearly ate her. she was far too quick for him.
they were throat-to-throat, and yet, at the last second, [y/n] sped ahead of the beast and launched herself on top of tuk. she cradled the girl as the water seemed to burst in every direction.
and then she blacked out.
when [y/n] awoke, she found herself in the comforts of her own home. the sun blinked through the marui, a feeling that caused [y/n] to smile.
that smile was quickly gone once she remembered exactly what happened before she’d passed out.
when [y/n] shot up, tsireya was quick to attend her side. “[y/n]!” she calmed, voice quiet and gentle. “[y/n], it is okay. you are okay! you are safe.”
[y/n] couldn’t even form full sentences. “tuk.”
“tuk is alive and well. she’s been awake for an hour or so, waiting for you.” tsireya’s smile faded. “but.. the sullys are keeping her from visiting.
[y/n]’s eyes narrowed at the news, confusion clouding her head. “what? why?”
“they think you did it.”
days go by, and [y/n] was quiet. quieter than she has been in years, ever since her injury. ever since her parents death. the guilt was nearly the same, nearly just as heart-wrenching.
they did not trust her. they thought she would hurt tuk. the mere thought of it sent [y/n] spiralling.
the olo’eyktan’s family tried to visit her often, but she was cut off. even when they did somehow make it inside, she was dry, often not even answering them. it was as if she pretended they didn’t exist.
[y/n] didn’t look so good either. she was leaving her own health as the last of her priorities, as if they didn’t matter compared to the fact that they didn’t trust her.
it was only thanks to the trustful word of tsireya that the sullys finally had clear enough minds to come and visit.
it was a quiet night, the only sound heard being the crash of the waves against the shore. [y/n] was busy poking at the food ao’nung delivered just moments before. she couldn’t find an appetite to even attempt eating the food, despite what she promised him.
at the sound of two bodies walking into her pod, she jumped onto her feet. ever since the incident, she was on extremely high alert. even when she slept at night, all she saw were the jaws of that monster… and then the way that the sea exploded around her.
time froze when she saw the guilty faces of jake and neytiri.
“[y/n],” jake’s voice was quiet, broken. almost as bad as she felt. “[y/n], we are so sorry.”
[y/n] only blinked. “why?” she swallowed, putting her food down behind her before taking a step towards the couple. “why in the world should you be sorry? it was only like i risked my life for your daughter and you didn’t even have the kindness to come and talk to me.” she shook her head. “i had to hear it from tsireya that you hated me. you didn’t give me a chance.”
neytiri sniffled, eyes full of guilty tears. “we understand. and that is why we are here.” she attempts to step towards [y/n], but retracts when she feels the younger girl tense. with a quick sigh, she continues. “we were worried. worried about our baby. all we knew is that you washed up together, and tuk was hurt because of something out on the reef. you were the only one with her. and we just… we thought, since you knew the reef so well, there was no way you could have run into such trouble.”
[y/n] paused before shaking her head. “i don’t know what that monster was,” she whispered. “i have never seen such a ghastly thing in my life.”
jake nods. “we know. we know that now, and we should have never doubted you. for that, we are so extremely sorry, and we are so extremely thankful that you kept tuk alive.”
[y/n] paused. after the years she spent grappling for approval from everybody on the island, after gaining it through risking her life, this was the first time that she truly felt fulfillment.
when tears welled up in her eyes, she allowed the parents to hug her. at the warmth of their arms around her trembling body, she whispered, “i would do it again.”
