Here’s a closer look at the lagoon and Trifid nebula seen in the previous image, in this image, you can see Lagoon Nebula (M8), Trifid Nebula (M20) and IC 4685 (located on the far left). This is a 1hour integration as I ran into some software issues during the capture session and terminated early. This was shot with a QHY294C with a 70mm APO scope on a CEM25P #messier8 #messier20 #ic4685 #astrophotography #astro_photography_ #nebula #nebulae #lagoonnebula #trifidnebula #qhy294c #cem25p #星雲 #天体写真 #天体景観 https://www.instagram.com/p/B0D3vySlOIl/?igshid=9qia2ep9hnz8

The Trifid Nebula (top left) and the Lagoon Nebula (bottom right) together in a wide-field photo. At 4,000 light years distance, consider them nearby, on a galactic scale. I photographed the Trifid and the Lagoon nebulae over two warm evenings in late July 2022 at the Astrofarm Dark Sky Site, Confolens, France. This is an aggregate of 60 photos, each a 3 minute exposure. #trifidnebula #lagoonnebula #messier20 #messier8 #messierobjects #astrophotography #astrophotographie #astrophotographiefrance (at Astrofarm) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgzQD_usgVQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#NebulasOfinstagram #LagoonNebula or #NGC6523 or #HourglassNebula or #Messier8 #OrionNebulas #Nebula regram @fluxa M8 - Lagoon Nebula in Ha The Lagoon Nebula is a huge gas cloud in which large amounts of stars are formed. The gas of the Lagoon Nebula is brought to light by very massive stars that are still hidden in the mist, creating a spectacular show. The reddish colour of the Lagoon Nebula is caused by hydrogen gas and the spray becoming ionized by the strong light of the massive stars that are located in the mist. This hydrogen has lost its excess energy which makes it radiate and consequently makes the nebula visible. The massive M8 also includes a funnel-like structure caused by a hot O-type star that emanates ultraviolet light, heating and ionizing gases on the surface of the nebula. Inside you’ll also see young open star cluster NGC 6530. According to some theories, it may be situated just slightly in front of the nebula from our perspective, but interstellar reddening shows the nebula is also involved with the cluster. M8 is also famous for its Bok globules – dark, collapsing clouds of protostellar material. M8, the Lagoon Nebula. This is a large interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius that is classified as an emission nebula and has been identified as a large “stellar nursery” where new stars are being born. #celestial #celestrontelescope #celestron #telescopephotography #telescope #zwo #asi294mcpro #astronomyposts #astrophotography #clayhausphotography #lagoonnebula #m8 #messier8 (at Torrey, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD13am-h95e/?igshid=z98yxu2dwi5t

Hourglass Nebula Region of Messier 8 (M8)
Taken from the 32 inch Schulman telescope on Mt. Lemmon, AZ.  This is an amazing view considering it is about 5200 light years away!  Believe it or not, in the 1800′s this nebula was visible to the naked eye.  Maybe not so clear as it is here, but it was visible.

2017, NASA Flashback: Stormy seas in Sagittarius
2017, NASA Flashback: Stormy seas in Sagittarius
This image was taken in 2017. It remains mesmerizing to this day.
Stormy seas in Sagittarius
Some of the most breathtaking views in the Universe are created by nebulae — hot, glowing clouds of gas. This new NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image shows the centre of the Lagoon Nebula, an object with a deceptively tranquil name. The region is filled with intense winds from hot stars, churning…

A revisit to another beautiful deep sky object, the Lagoon Nebula, Messier 8, this time shot with a QHY294C instead of a7ii. The Lagoon Nebula is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation of Sagittarius. It is visible to binoculars as a nice oval patch and lies some 4,000 to 6,000 light years from us, spanning some 110 by 50 light years across and contains a number of bok globules, which are isolated and relatively small dark nebulae containing dense cosmic dust and gas in which star formation can take place in.

Messier-8 is the Lagoon Nebula. At 4000 light years distance, it is very close on a galactic scale. I photographed Messier-8 from my balcony in Talence France over three nights in July 2021. #messierobjects #objetmessier #messier8 #lagoonnebula #astronomy #astronomie #astrophotography #astrophotographie (at Parc Peixotto Talence) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRhT6H9Ht05/?utm_medium=tumblr
