Anniversaries aren't always pleasant. The days surrounding those aren't the best, either. What's beautiful is the life that was made, the memories, and the hearts touched. I used to love finding messages in the sky, and found a bit of love in the air that day.  “There is nowhere you could go that I won't be with you.”  #moanamonday .cosplay created by @ambrose_cosplay . . . . #moana #messagesinthesky #moanamondays #disney #disneycosplay #cosplay #cosplayconnection #

i need more james x reader. and Remus x Sirius. Can u satisfy my fanfiction disier?
Pancakes
Abstract: the boys surprise you in the morning.
Pairing: James Potter x Reader
Warnings: none
Word count: 570
A/N: I saw this and had the perfect idea!! I got you honey! Let’s push through this writers block gang!
Tumblr media
Before you had even opened your eyes, you knew something was off.
It wasn’t the fact James wasn’t in bed beside you, or the fact that you could hear the boys rushing around in the small kitchen of your flat. However you could guess exactly what was going on by the fact the smoke alarm was screeching so loud you swore it would wake the dead.
Your eyes flickered open as your head flopped to the side to double check your fiancé wasn’t in bed beside you. Finding his side empty as you’d guessed, you threw the duvet off you and wandered out the room and down the corridor to where the noise was originating.
The sight that greeted you was almost comical.
James was currently wafting a tea towel at the smoke alarm while Remus held open the small window to try and let as much smoke out as he could. Sirius was trying to salvage the burnt black mess in the frying pan without much hope, you could only guess the burnt blob was originally a pancake of sorts.
All three were yelling at each other trying to work out a strategy to get the smoke out of the flat. All of them completely forgetting they had magic.
With a wave of your own wand, the smoke sucked outside and the yelling ceased as all three boys turned to spot you at the doorway.
“Hi, Love.” James grinned sheepishly, stepping down from the chair he was one and walked over greeting you with a kiss. “We thought we’d make breakfast.”
“Don’t pull me into this shit show!” Remus narrowed his eyes at the Potter. “I was only saving your entire flat from going up in flames.”
“But Moony, you seem to forget you were also caught in the act with us.” James grinned wrapping an arm around your waist, pulling you into a hug. “Can I interest you in some of the chef’s special?”
You snorted, eyebrows reaching your hairline. “You mean the smoking charcoal in my favourite pan?!”
“...I’ll buy you a new pan?!”
“The Leaky Cauldron does breakfast until midday?” Sirius suggested, poking at the remains of their attempt with a spatula. “Though anything is better than Moony’s attempt here.”
“I wasn’t even- you know what, I’m not even going to bother.” The werewolf rolled his eyes, actively ignoring the sicker that escaped his boyfriend. “Shut up, Pads.”
Sirius attempted to wrap an arm around Remus' waist only for the werewolf to batter away his encroaching hand. With a feigned look of appall, Sirius ignored his boyfriend's annoyance and pulled him into a tight hug, his arms trapping Remus' to his sides.
“I vote edible breakfast.” James raised a hand, his eyes dotting around the group to persuade an agreement.
"I second that." Sirius nodded to James, leaving Remus to shoot you a look which easily read 'help me or I'll hex them.'
With a slight chuckle you took the pan from James and set it down on the side, whilst cocking an eyebrow at Sirius who reluctantly eased up the hug.
"So you're both treating us to breakfast out?! I mean, how could we say no, Remus?!"
“The same way I said ‘no, a pancake shouldn’t be crispy’, but someone didn’t listen.” Remus stared down Sirius who innocently directed his attention to James.
“I think he means you, mate.” The wizard whispered loudly.
“Pads?”
“Yeah?”
“Shut up.”

you'd come with me?
wordcount: 1.5k
lol this picture just makes me laugh we love a mich ultra man
Tumblr media
“How much longer?”
“Just a few…” Sophie answered Rafe absentmindedly, biting her bottom lip in concentration as she typed.
They’d assumed their usual positions while studying in her room - she was sprawled out on her bed, while he sat at her desk, concentrating on whatever homework he had for the day. She’d banned him from the bed during study time, much to his dismay, claiming he was far too distracting. (He still got away with distracting her half the time anyways, slinking over and tucking his large frame into her side like a dog that had overgrown its owner’s lap years ago.)
“Rafe?” She broke the silence after a while, punctuating her sentence with a firm shut of her laptop.
“Yeah, baby?”
“I just applied for a grad program.” She told him nervously, unsure of what his reaction might be.
He shrugged, not turning his attention to her. “Okay? I thought you applied to Ohio State’s, you’re basically in already.”
“Well, yeah. But, um - can you look at me, please?” Sophie bit at her bottom lip, anxious.
He glanced up and finally noticed her nervous energy, then came over to sit next to her on the bed. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong, it’s just big news. Maybe. I don’t even know if I have news yet, really -”
“Spit it out, Soph.” He nudged his knee against hers, concerned.
She nodded, taking a breath. “Okay. I applied to three other places, too. Two are in New York, one’s in Texas. And I know, I should have told you, but I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to do it in the first place, I kind of applied on a whim - well, I’ve been perfecting the application essay for weeks, but -”
“Soph, hey, it’s okay.” He cut off her rambling and a broad grin spread across his face, completely surprising her. “New York and Texas, for real?”
She raised her eyebrows and fidgeted with her ring, glancing at him worriedly. “That doesn’t worry you at all? That we’d be apart?”
She’d thought about how to tell him, when to tell him, for weeks now. She’d been hiding that she was interested in applying to other schools since June and though she felt incredibly guilty, she kept thinking back to long distance and how sad he seemed sometimes. She couldn’t break him with the news again so soon, not when she saw the way he lit up when they were together again and how content he was. Not when she saw how hard it was for her to support him from thousands of miles away, knowing physical touch was a big thing he relied on for comfort in their relationship.
He interrupted her train of thought as he took her hand, lacing their fingers together. “Sophie, baby, do you know how many jobs are in New York and Texas?”
“Wait, you’d come with me?” She stuck her bottom lip out a little, overwhelmed and almost near tears at his response.
“I was planning on following you no matter what.” Rafe smiled encouragingly, reaching out and stroking his thumb over her cheek. “If you’ll have me.”
“Oh.” She said softly, growing shy. “You’re sure? You could go wherever you wanted, I don’t want to hold you back -”
“Hey, hey, none of that. Where’d you apply, when do you hear back?”
“You’re sure this isn’t an issue.” She asked warily, not wanting to undermine his feelings.
“I’m positive.” He gave her a proud grin. “What schools?”
“Okay, um. Columbia -”
He let out a long low whistle, nodding. “Impressive.”
She blushed, finally grinning back. “Hush. Columbia, Syracuse and UT Austin. Isobel already got into Syracuse. Columbia’s my top choice, but that’ll probably never happen.”
“Of course it’ll happen, get out of your head.” He leaned down and kissed her, smiling against her lips. “Look at you, big shot, applying for an Ivy.”
She relaxed, her hands trailing along the hem of his shirt, and ducked her head to hide her grin. “Stop. It’s not that big of a deal.”
“It is that big of a deal. When do you find out?” He shifted to lay down by her, then tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
“Um…not for a couple months, I think. You’ll really follow me?”
“Course I will, if you’ll have me.” He nodded earnestly.
“Yeah. I’d like that.” She beamed, nudging her nose against his. “You’re my favorite.”
“Love you too.” He responded. “Wait, did you just apply? Like right now?”
She nodded, biting the inside of her cheek. “Just finished my Columbia essay, I did the rest last week. Now I wait.”
He smoothed his thumb over her cheek, making her relax again. “You’re so damn smart. Should we go celebrate?” Rafe gave her a cheeky grin. “Double scoop with sprinkles?”
She rolled her eyes. “Doesn’t have the same effect now that you get it for free.” As a part of his internship program, he’d received a punch card for 25 free visits to Jeni’s, their favorite ice cream shop - they’d hardly made a dent in it since returning to school.
“No, I pay extra for the sprinkles and your waffle cone.” His grin gave way to a slow smirk and he kissed her neck, sucking gently for a moment. “We could celebrate other ways…”
“Wait, no, I actually do want the ice cream.” She pulled away before he could leave a mark, giving him a warning glance. “I gotta make up for what I missed over summer.”
He laughed, getting up and offering his hand. “Alright. C’mon, genius. Jeni’s is waiting for you.”
She took his hand, but didn’t stand. “Wait, Rafe. You’re sure, this is okay with you? I know you have your job lined up and all…”
Rafe paused, shrugging. “Yeah, well. Uh, Brooklyn got the job offer too, she’s already accepted it. So I wasn’t too psyched about it anyways.”
“Oh.” She nodded, thoughtful. “Have you been to New York? Or Austin?”
“I have. You haven’t? You want to go visit when you get in, so you can make your final decision?” He tugged on her hand, pulling her up into a hug and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
“Not sure I could afford that.” She mumbled, resting her head on his chest.
“Man, too bad you don’t have a boyfriend with money to pay for those trips.” He hooked a finger under her chin, tilted it up so he could look her in the eyes and see her scowl. “If you want to visit, we’ll go. Easy weekend trip.”
“Right.” Sophie nodded, unsure. “Maybe. I’m not even sure I’ll get in, I’ll probably be stuck here in Columbus for another year anyways.”
“Hey. Stop talking like that. You’ll help me look for jobs in New York and Texas, right?”
“Of course I will.” She confirmed. “You know, we could probably find something related to film in New York…”
He scoffed and looped his arm around her shoulders, steering her out of her room and down the stairs. “I think my dad might write me out of his will if I did anything adjacent to the film industry. Waste of my time, he says.”
She frowned, letting him usher her out to the car. “Maybe you should go talk with the career counselors, see if there’s options to combine both. You’re good at marketing too, maybe there’s something there?”
“Not sure. Haven’t really thought about any of that.” He dismissed her quickly, feeling uneasy like he did any time he thought about his future outside of school.
Sometimes he realized he was really good at absorbing other people’s interests, like he was able to always match his personality into a perfect mold to other people’s expectations. With Colin and James, and now Sophie, he was able to let his guard down a little and figure out who he was, who he wanted to be beyond his father’s expectations. He felt like he was thinking about this ten years too late - eleven year old Rafe had always written his ‘dream job’ in school as working for his dad. Now he was about to graduate, set to get a job, and wasn’t even sure if he could list his hobbies outside of hanging out with Sophie and his friends, and watching movies.
“Look, I just...I don’t want you to lose sight of what you’re actually interested in just because you need a job. You don’t have to hate your job.” She told him, carefully.
“I know.” He nodded, shutting down the conversation. “Today’s not about me, though, we gotta celebrate you, hotshot over here.” He grinned at her, leaning over to kiss her quick across the seat. “I think they have the chocolate cake back in stock, I’ve missed it.”
She picked up on his hesitation, but didn’t push it. “You’re such a creature of habit.”
“No, you’re just a psychopath picking a different flavor every time.” He shook his head as he reached his hand to rest behind her seat, turning around to back up. “Good thing I love you anyways, smart girl.”
“Love you too, sweet boy.” She replied with a smile.

TRP Prologue - Welcome to the Story of Y/N L/N
Tumblr media
Summary: To others, being princess is living the dream. To Y/N, it’s a living nightmare. But, that was until the day that she received the letter that changed her life and met the people who love her for her true self.
Warning/s: use of the word “damn”
Series Masterlist
Anybody else would think that being the first-born Princess is literally living the dream.
Let me tell you, it’s not.
“Y/N, put down the book and head downstairs for the Family portrait.” My mother, Queen Ahnica, snapped as she entered my room.
I sighed, placing a bookmark on the page I was currently reading, “Do we honestly have to do this mother? We already did this last year.”
She glared at me, “Do you always have to ask? Now stop this nonsense and give them a smile when we get down. We don’t want the press giving a bad image, don’t we?”
I mentally rolled my eyes as I followed her out of the room, “Yes mother.”
We headed down to the lounge where the royal photographer, my father (King Michael), and my younger sister (Princess Christel) were waiting for us.
I sat down beside my sister, who gave me a sympathetic smile as she placed her hand on top of mine.
“Don’t worry.” She reassured, “This’ll all be over in a minute.”
And boy did that minute feel like an hour.
When we had finished, Clark, our chief of staff approached us.
“Your highnesses,” he greeted, giving a small bow, “There is someone wanting to see you.”
My mother and father exchanged a confused look, before we followed Clark into the guest lounge.
Standing there was a middle-aged woman, her hair in a tight bun and a stern but gentle look on her face.
“Good day Mr. and Mrs. L/N, or should I say your highnesses.” She said, giving a curtsy,
My father smiled, “Good day Ma’am. What assistance could we offer you?”
The woman chuckled, “My name is McGonagall and I’m just here to give your daughter, Princess Y/N, a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
I looked up at her, meeting her eyes for the first time, “Me?”
My sister looked at me excitedly.
The woman nodded, handing me an envelope with the words, Princess Y/N L/N, Montenaro Palace.
Christel nudged my shoulder, “Go on, open it.” She encouraged.
I opened it and pulled out the letter inside.
Dear Mr/Ms. L/N,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
I looked up again at the woman, my parents were both stunned into silence, “Am I really going to learn magic?”
McGongall nodded, “Indeed dear, and at the best wizarding school Britain has to offer.”
“But magic isn’t real.” My mother interjected.
McGonagall brought out a thin, stick and with a small wave of her hand, bubbles erupted from it. She then pointed to a teacup on a nearby table, turning it into a teapot.
“So magic is real?” Christel asked in awe.
McGonagall nodded, “It is.”
I turned to my parents as I gave them a pleading look, “Please mum, dad. Can I go.”
My parents exchanged a silent argument before my father said, “You may go. But if this is some sort of scam. You will regret dragging my daughter into this.”
The woman nodded, “You will regret nothing your highness.”
She then turned to me, “I’ll be meeting up with you next week to get your school supplies.”
As soon as she left, my mother turned to my father, “How could you let her? She’s ten! She should be attending finishing school, not some sort of magic school with a bunch of idiots!”
My father sighed, “We’ve taught her everything that she could be taught in finishing school ever since she was five. She’ll be fine.”
--
When September first rolled around, McGonagall brought me to King’s Cross Station and she had instructed me how to board on to Platform 9 and 3/4. Thankfully, I was able to leave before my parents realized that I was wearing “normal” clothes. Because if they did, I would’ve received a full lecture about maintaining an image for the press.
To be honest, jeans and a shirt were a lot more comfortable than a corset and a gown.
At first, I thought it was absurd. But after seeing the serious look on her face, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and run into the barrier in between Platforms 9 and 10.
I closed my eyes, braced myself for impact. But a cold chill came over me before I heard the chatter of a lively crowd, I opened my eyes, seeing a red and black train with a sign that said, Hogwarts Express.
A hopped onto the train, looking for a spare compartment. I didn’t expect anyone to recognize me as the princess, and I wish they wouldn’t.
I found a compartment that was occupied by two identical looking gingers.
I gently knocked on the compartment door, sliding it open a bit before asking, “Excuse me, but is it okay if I sat here? Everywhere else was full.”
One of them nodded, “Of course you may. I’m George by the way.” He said, offering his hand with I shook, giving him a small smile.
He then nodded to the boy sitting opposite of him, “That’s my twin brother, Fred.”
Fred stared at me, his mouth slightly agape, “Bloody hell, you’re gorgeous.”
I bit my lip, feeling my cheeks heat up as Fred was snapped out of his trance by George laughing.
“Oh, sorry.” He apologized, grinning sheepishly.
I giggled, “It’s fine.”
The three of us bonded over the train ride and became fast friends.
Despite the fact that Fred and George were identical twins, I had absolutely no trouble telling them apart, though something about Fred made my heart race a bit faster and the butterflies to rise up to my stomach.
--
It’s been three years since I first met the twins. I was now in my fourth year at Hogwarts.
Before I headed down to the Great Hall for Lunch, I adjusted the necklace I was wearing.
Once I arrived, I immediately slipped into the seat between the twins.
Hermione took a sip of her pumpkin juice, looking up from her book, “Where did you get that?”
I looked at her, slightly confused, “Where did I get what?”
“That necklace.”
I looked down and realized that I wasn’t able to hide my necklace in my blouse properly.
“My mum gave it to me.” I managed to stutter out.
“Why? What’s wrong with her necklace?” Ginny asked, “It seems alright to me.”
Everyone in our group was watching me and Hermione, obviously interested in the exchange.
“Well, it’s not just any necklace.” Hermione stated, “There’s only one necklace like that.”
Fred chuckled, “Hermione, I’m sure that necklace is one of billions.”
“No.” She insisted, “There is only one necklace like that and it belongs to the first-born princess of Montenaro.”
She stared at me intently, I could almost see the gears turning in her brain. Besides, she was called the “brightest witch of her age” for a reason.
“Oh Godric!” She gasped and I knew she had come to her conclusion, “What was your last name again?” She asked.
I sighed, “L/N.”
“How did I not notice it before?” She said, most likely to herself, “It makes so much sense now.”
“Hermione, not all of us are geniuses here. So, mind catching us up on what exactly makes sense?” Harry joked.
“The reason why Y/N has that necklace, even though it’s super rare, is because she is the first-born princess of Montenaro. She’s part of the L/N family, she’s basically royalty.” Hermione explained excitedly.
The group looked at me for confirmation.
“Is it true love?” Fred asked softly, “You’re a princess?”
I nodded, letting out a quiet, “yes.”
Everyone was dead silent; you would have thought that someone had just dropped dead in front of us.
Angelina was the first one to break the silence, “Why didn’t you tell us?”
I sighed, “I didn’t want you guys to treat me differently. Because when your royalty and others see you, all people can think about is: she’s the princess, she’s next in line for the throne. And being princess, I’m never free. Every decision is made for me, every word, every moved has to be supervised because there’s always some sort of protocol that’s against it. You guys love me and care about me not because I’m the princess. But because you see the real me. You don’t see me as ‘Princess Y/N’, you guys see me as just Y/N.”
I felt Fred hold my hand under the table as I continued, “Here, I am able to be myself, without having to worry about the damn rules or the press. That’s why I spend every holiday I could at the Burrow. Because I like being free. Because I’ve felt more at home there that when I’ve spent a portion of my life at the palace. That’s why I kept my identity a secret. I feared that when you guys learned the truth, you would treat me differently.”
Fred and George encased me in a “Weasley twin hug” as the former kissed the top of my head.
“We’ll always love you darling.” He whispered, “Whether you’re royalty or not.”
I smiled, “Really? You’re not mad that I kept all of this a secret?”
George chuckled, “Of course we’re not.”
“Fred’s right. To us, your being a princess is just a title, but what matters is the side of Y/N that you want to show us.” Ginny added.
I laughed as all of them wrapped me in a group hug, “What did I do to deserve friends like you guys.”
Fred laughed, running a hand through my hair, “What did we do to deserve being friends with an actual princess?”
“Way to ruin the moment, Freddie!”
“Did you have to bring it up now?”
The rest of the group chimed as they playfully scolded Fred.

It felt odd. Exciting and nerve-wracking at once.
You tried to go about your day as usual. Occupying your overthinking mind with last bits of unpacking and tidying your room.
The idea seemed strange to your parents at first, that a friend of yours would come by for a visit the day after you arrived back at home. Which, after a month away, to them was equal to knocking on your door as soon as you closed it behind yourself.
It was the first time you had to have that type of conversation with your parents, naturally, it felt awkward. But when you told them the truth, they were respectful.
The hand of the clock on your bedroom’s wall, right above your desk, was getting dangerously close to 1.
You changed your clothes and put your hair up, just to sit behind your desk, having nothing else to do. That’s when the clock really started racing. It was a few minutes to 1 PM when your mum called from downstairs.
It was like nothing else you’ve felt before. Like meeting someone you know so well, and yet a completely new person.
Of course, you knew Fred from school. Who didn’t, at least from the rumours? And you had been one of the people that were on speaking terms with him, sharing a few classes, some mutual friends.
Fred never seemed like the type of guy that would be into you. You didn’t hold any significant feelings towards him back then, to be bothered by it, it was just a fact. You enjoyed interactions with him, nonetheless. Maybe subconsciously, enjoyed the rare attention received from him. And maybe that was the reason you had agreed to give him your address at the end of last term, instead of telling him to sod off.
Since then, you were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a different side of him. To fall in love with him.
And how much has he changed. Not only physically, having his hair cut short and growing yet another few centimetres. The biggest change happened inside.
It was better than he could’ve ever imagined. When he felt all those things while still at school, he couldn’t have expected what would come out of it. Nothing he’s ever experienced was quite like this.
At the end of last term when he realised that - caught up in everything that was happening - he hasn’t made any progress with you, he came up with the idea of writing letters throughout the summer on the spot, running to catch up to you in one of the courtyards. Best he hoped for was some banter, maybe getting to know you a little better. Mostly, just making sure you didn’t grow apart throughout those long, two months – or even worse, start dating somebody else - so that he could properly take action as soon as September rolled around. He couldn’t know he’d fall in completely. Or that you’d fall too. And that he’d be welcomed in by your mum at that very moment.
You waited at the top of the stairs. The bannister you held onto could’ve been the only thing keeping you from collapsing once he appeared at the bottom and looked into your eyes. With that damn smile.
You didn’t know what that moment would look like before it happened. In your head, you wanted to hug Fred, hold him, kiss him. You were in love with him - you wanted all that. But you didn’t know if you could, meeting him for the first time. Would you still want that with a person you hadn’t actually developed any physical closeness with?
But once more, his words came useful, as you realised you had worried unnecessarily.
‘Stop overthinking and enjoy the ride, sweetheart.’ – he advised you a while ago.
So when he ran up the stairs your arms outstretched themselves on their own accord, waiting.
“Hi,” you giggled while he wrapped his arms around your waist, picking you up in a tight hug. His emotions exhibited themselves in a spin he gave you. Pressing your face to the crook of his neck, you recognised the scent you knew from his letters before he put you back down.
“Hi,” he replied, finally, pulling away from the hug a bit to look at you once more. His hands still rested on your waist and as he looked into your eyes and both of you thought the same thing. It was the perfect opportunity for a kiss.
Fred swallowed, running his eyes over your face, taking it in.
“Good to finally see you,” he said, standing straight, and you chuckled, letting him know the feeling was mutual.
Seeing Fred Weasley in your room, your personal space, felt odd as well. Once again, the thought of being lucky enough to call yourself his girlfriend (even though the two of you haven’t specified your relationship just yet) appeared in your mind. But he called you that.
And there he was, standing in the middle of your bedroom, looking around. Looking even more handsome than you remembered. You wanted to learn Fred, learn him physically.
He turned back to you and you locked eyes as he caught you with that shy, yet giddy smile on your face. The smile you got back in return made the butterflies in your stomach go crazy. With newfound confidence you stepped closer to him and took his hand, intertwining your fingers together. It fit perfectly, like magic.
“See, that’s the wardrobe door I told you about in the letter, that gave me this battle scar,” you told him, pointing at the piece of furniture first, then the faint mark left on the skin of your arm.
Fred didn’t hesitate to take your arm in his hand and brush his thumb over the scar. Apparently, Fred was very touchy. It was exhilarating, but nice. You could get used to that.
“Seems like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it?” he chuckled. You agreed with him, thinking back to those first few letters you’d exchanged at the beginning of summer. “Oh, that reminds me!” you perked up suddenly. “Make yourself comfortable here, ok? I’ll be just a moment, I have something prepared…” you explained, receiving a nod from Fred, before dashing out the door.
This gave Fred a chance to have a proper look around. He wasn’t invading your privacy since everything he was looking at was out in the open, but it would’ve felt weird, just analysing it in your presence.
Taking a seat by your desk, he could take out much from the objects lying around there. And in the corner of the desktop, sat a pretty box with its lid slightly open. He didn’t want to look, but through the crack, he saw something paper.
“The letters…” he whispered to himself and without further thought slid the box over to himself. There they were, his letters – each and every one of them, placed neatly and chronologically. No one has ever cherished anything received from Fred as much.
“See you helped yourself,” you quipped, having walked into the room with a plate of muffins in your hand. “What if I hid something else in that box? Something real embarrassing?” you asked, walking over to him after placing the tray down on your tea table.
“It wasn’t closed properly, I could see it was letters,” he explained, turning to you. “Unless you’re exchanging letters with some other boys too?” he joked. “You think only boys could be your competition, Weasley?” you swung back, placing your arm at the back of his shoulders with a mischievous smile. “But no, not like with you, I don’t,” you reassured him in the end.
Another moment of meaningful eye contact passed, before Fred changed the topic, noticing the baked goodies. You could watch him stuffing his face for hours.
Still enjoying a muffin, you walked up to one of your cupboards, to retrieve a box with your surprise.
“I’d like to remind you that I’m still very much a beginner with clay so it may be simple, but one day I might make something nicer. If you’ll still want it, of course,” you said, handing him the box. You sat back down on the sofa next to him, with an anxious smile.
He opened the box, revealing a mug, painted with his nickname on the side. His face lit up in a smile. True, it may have been simple, but he could also see the effort you had put into it, and that was enough to melt his heart.
“Do you like it?” you asked in a small voice. “I love it,” he replied simply, still moved by the gesture. He gave you a one-armed hug, still holding the mug in one of his hands – already thinking of using it every day, for as long as it could serve him.
“Ok, let’s not forget,” he began, composing himself, “I promised a surprise for you too.” “You did,” you replied, leaning back against the couch and flashing him a smile.
You watched as he reached into his pocket, pulling out a tiny firework.
“Freddie,” you pleaded, in disbelief of how typical of him that was. “It’s indoor safe, I promise!” he laughed, “I haven’t blown myself up yet, have I?” he asked, looking at you expectantly with his gleaming eyes.
So after a deep sigh, you nodded, allowing him to proceed.
He pulled out his wand and after throwing the firework into the air, lit it up. It was beautiful, golden, pink and white, mesmerising shapes changing constantly. In the end, a sentence appeared, lighting up the whole room, along with your whole world.
Will you be my girlfriend?
“I told you already in the letters how in love with you I am… you said you feel the same. I wanted to make it official,” he said, looking at you now, as the fireworks slowly faded away.
“Yes. Of course,” you answered, positive your heart has melted at the gesture. Your hands reached out a bit awkwardly, unknowing if you wanted to hold his hands or hug him.
Fred leaned close to you and placing his hands on your waist, kissed you.
Was true love really magic’s work, or was Fred just a really good kisser? You couldn’t know that, but you also couldn’t care less as you wrapped your arms around the back of his neck. You just never wanted to kiss anyone else, and kiss only him, for as long as you both shall live.
He was delicate and loving, one of his hands moved to the side of your face, caressing your cheek with his thumb as he kept placing soft pecks on your lips, unable to pull himself away.
“You’re intoxicating,” he muttered against your lips before kissing you on the forehead, then sitting back straight. “I could tell you the same thing,” you replied, dumbfounded.
“I got something else, too…” Fred admitted sheepishly, diving into his pocket once more to retrieve a small box. He opened it in front of you, revealing a bracelet – a dark, simple, aesthetical string with a small shape attached to it. A tiny, silver envelope.
“It’s beautiful, Freddie,” you whispered, brushing your finger over the metal. “I’ve got one too, so if you want-” he began, taking another bracelet out of his pocket, without a box this time, but you didn’t wait for him to finish.
You took your bracelet out of the box and gestured for him to help you tie it, then took his, and tied it around his wrist. You were admiring the view, when Fred interrupted you.
“Want to see something cool?” he asked you with a smirk, then took your bracelet hand in his and you watched the pendant emit a soft, magical glow.
“You really are a romantic, Fred Weasley…” you stated.
“You made me one.”

You’re probably wondering what happened next, dear reader? Very well, I can’t just leave you hanging. After all, it would be a dishonour to cut off this beautiful story of Y/N and Fred’s love like that. And what a beautiful love it was.
That September was the first time the both of them were that happy to get back to school. It allowed them to see each other every day, after all, even if Y/N took quite a few more classes than Fred. They quickly realised what they had was more than just a school romance. They used their last year at Hogwarts to its fullest, before Fred took off with his twin brother and Y/N graduated, according to plan, in June.
The current state of the wizarding world meant Y/N had to put her career plans on hold, but she was happy to help Fred and George in their shop instead.
As Fred had Y/N’s promise, to help him with raising a puppy – they adopted one together, one that they both fell in love with at first sight. The dog later proved to be a valid, contributing member of the Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes.
Their relationship flourished, they complimented each other perfectly, supported each other during the war when they both needed it most.
After Voldemort had been defeated and Y/N got her dream job, she and Fred decided to rent a nice, comfortable flat in London. Just like they planned, they used a lot of their time off from work to travel together – taking their dog with them whenever they could. It was during one of their trips, when Fred proposed to Y/N, with a crazy, elaborate scheme.
They got married in a simple, yet beautiful ceremony, surrounded by loved ones. They had three children – two girls and a boy.
When Fred’s business started doing really well, they moved to a ridiculously charming old house, but in England, so that he could focus on his family more. How did they spend their days? I’m sure you can imagine. And when they retired, their lives slowed down, just a tiny bit.
But Fred Weasley remained a romantic, even as they were both old and grey. And the act of exchanging letters remained special for them, throughout all of their happily ever after.
The end.

Tumblr media
REMUS WAS met with a dimly lit room as he opened his eyes. He could tell it was daytime by the bits of light peeking in from behind the curtains, but the thick drapes were thankfully blocking most of the light. He was clutching an empty bottle of alcohol against his chest and there was drool sticking to the corner of his mouth. Remus wrapped himself further into his duvet, trying to ignore the nausea adding to his previous misery. He’d have to use some charms to cure the steady ache in his head and drink a shitload of water.
Balancing himself as he stood, Remus was met with an empty room. He was sure he had slept through the boys trying to wake him up, as he had a habit of doing. Even if they hadn’t he really didn’t care. He just needed some food. Trudging down the stairs, Remus hoped that Sirius and James hadn’t planned anything tremendous today. He didn’t have the mind or the heart to deal with their antics, no matter how much he enjoyed them most days.
To his disillusionment, instead of a clear path to breakfast, he ran into a rather gorgeous obstacle. His anger wasn’t enough to blind him from how beautiful Y/N looked, perched up on the sofa reading from a textbook. With a shake of his head, Remus started to head towards the door again.
“We need to talk, Remus,” Y/N’s voice was a mix of stern and concerned and Remus sighed knowing nothing good was going to come of this conversation. Turning around, he walked back towards the couches and took a seat as far away as possible from Y/N.
“Not here,” she motioned to the crowd behind her and began to go back up the stairs. Remus didn’t want to climb up the stairs. Not just because of his massive headache, but because he didn’t want to just listen to her. He had wasted enough of his time doing that.
But people always told him old habits die hard.
Entering Y/N’s dorm, Remus took a seat at what appeared to be Lily’s desk. The tops of ten dead flowers that were carefully taped to the table - that he knew James had given her and she had reluctantly taken - were proof of that. He wondered if Lily would ever hurt James the way he had been hurt. Well, after she finally stopped pretending she didn’t care for the boy. He hoped not. No one deserved this pain, but especially not James.
“What was yesterday about?” Remus slowly brought his head up to look at the Y/N. She was sitting on the edge of her bed, nervously clutching her blanket. He couldn’t count the number of times he had held her on that bed. Or the one night he had snuck into her dorm after a particularly gruesome full moon. He had wanted to remember the details of that night forever when he had left in the morning, but now he wanted anything but that.
Y/N had mumbled an incantation under her breath and suddenly Remus’ head felt a lot lighter.
“You know perfectly well what last night was about,” Remus said simply. There was no point in either of them playing dumb, especially her.
“No, Remus. I don’t. It’s not like you to make a scene like that.” Remus scoffed at the expectations she held for him.
“Yah? Well, it’s not like you to make out with some random in the middle of a crowded room.” Y/N looked at him incredulously, her mouth agape.
“So, what? Are you jealous of Mason?” Was she fucking insane?
“Am I jealous of Mason?” Remus was seething as he spat his words at her. “Of course I’m fucking jealous, Y/N. Stop acting so innocent.”
“I’m not acting - Remus, I-” In two swift motions, Remus was standing right in front of Y/N.
“No, you are. You know damn well you’ve let me down. So, at least be brave enough to own it.” Slowly Y/N rose up from her spot, protectively crossing her arms in front of her.
“So that outfit you wore yesterday… At the game. It was what? To get my attention,” Y/N’s accusation invoked a rosey color to inhabit Remus’ cheeks. He had felt embarrassed enough when he had made the decision the day before, but now he was mortified. All he could do was nod.
“You looked utterly stupid.” Remus let out a mirthless chuckle and pursed his lip as he watched her.
“That’s my fucking problem, Y/N. I am so goddamn stupid. I am so stupid that I can’t let go of this notion that you still care about me. That you still have all the feelings we talked about. But I’m even stupider because I would still do anything for you,” Remus’ words were bullets, but every shot aimed at Y/N seemed to be hitting him instead.
“Moony,” He grimaced at the way his nickname left her lips. She looked distraught and he resisted the urge to smooth out the lines on her forehead. “I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“Alright,” Remus took a breath, trying to keep his temper cool. “Start by explaining why? Why’d you start dating Tomlinson?” Y/N’s face flushed as she looked at Remus with an unreadable expression.
“I like him, Remus. That’s why.” Maybe if Remus had really been listening, the words would have broken straight through his bones. Instead, he was ready to ask her the next question on his mind.
“What happened to us?”
It was a simple question. If Y/N had a new boyfriend she should have no problem giving him an answer. So, why was she tearing up? Why did she get to be the one hurting right now?
“Remus, Mason, he just… I don’t know, Remus. I can’t explain it,” Remus was getting sick of her feigning guiltlessness. He was the one that was left alone and empty, she probably had Mason filling her up every night.
“Did you lie in your letter?” He studied her reaction carefully as he spoke his next words. “You said you loved me, what the fuck does that mean?” When Remus had received the letter from Y/N, he had assumed it was going to be just another mundane update since the last time they had talked. Which would have been more than enough for Remus. However, within the last lines of the letter she had casually told Remus she loved him. He wasn’t sure if it had been a mistake, but that day he decided as soon as they were back at Hogwarts he would tell her how he felt. He would make what they had real.
“That I loved you?” Y/N visibly retracted and closed her eyes as she replied.
“Is that what it meant? Because if you fucking loved me, then how the fuck did you find someone new after three weeks?” Remus tasted a salty liquid on his lips and instantly wiped away the tears that were slipping down his face. What made him more angry was that Y/N was just staring, wide eyed. “ANSWER ME, Y/N!”
“Remus, I don’t know. I wish I knew what happened, but I just met Mason and it was like something instant.”
“You’re a liar. There must be a reason that you fell… fell o-out of love with me,” Remus took a harsh breath in, willing his tears away.
“I’m not lying. It had nothing to do with you,” Remus chuckled, choking on his tears. How cliche, he thought. Running his hand through his hair, he spun away from Y/N. It was as if the moon had come two weeks early, because he was unable to control the anger coursing through him. He pounded his fist against Marlene’s bed frame, but made sure to stay as far away from Y/N as possible. No matter what, he couldn’t scare her.
“Remus!” Y/N yelled, running over to inspect his hands. Her hands were cold but she electrified every inch of skin she touched. Sighing, she looked up at him. “Look, Remus. I have no idea how to explain to you what I’m feeling, but you’re just going to have to accept I’m with Mason now. Or - or we can’t be friends.”
“Okay,” Remus nodded his head calmly, carefully moving his hand away from hers and brought them to his side.
“Okay? Thank you, Remus -”
“I guess we just aren’t friends anymore,” Turning around, Remus didn’t bother listening to what bullshit Y/N was spewing. But before he walked out of the room he left her with one last thought, “Coward.”
Remus didn’t react until he was safely in his locked dorm room. And then he broke. Did Y/N have a charm to use for the pain growing in his heart? Because he really needed it.

(if you wanna be tagged or removed message me)
JJ never liked his birthday. It was just the weight of the day and the pressure to make it memorable. It was never something he could give himself. He didn’t like to make a big deal about it either. It was easier that way. It’s not that he didn’t appreciate what his friends did for him, he really did.
JJ remembers for his 16th birthday his dad was passed out drunk the whole morning and Pope came and picked him up and they went surfing all day. Later they stayed at John B’s, sang happy birthday, and had brownies, his favorite. He had found out later that Kie and June had baked the brownies themselves. It was the best birthday he had ever had.
JJ’s birthdays were always a fight with his dad. Like a sad yearly tradition that left him more bruised than the day before. The day reminded his dad of his mom and how they weren’t in love anymore and that she left him. That’s JJ, the constant reminder of the shitty world they live in.
His mom left them both. JJ always clarified that. If his dad got to be bitter and drink himself to death, then JJ got to be upset about it. Even just a little.
He hadn’t lived with his dad in a few years, only stopping in once and a while to make sure he wasn’t dead, had paid the bills, and kept food in the fridge. He didn’t deserve it, but not doing it made JJ feel guilty.
JJ had made it clear to his friends that he didn’t want to draw attention to his birthday this year.
“We’re not doing any party shit, okay? I just wanna go surf.” He had said Sunday. No one argued, but Kie did insist they at least go to The Wreck Friday for dessert. They all agreed and would stay over at the chateau to get to the beach the following morning. That was before June stood him up for surfing. And before she said she’d go out with Topper Friday night. Pope seemed to be on her side which was just the icing on his sad, sad birthday cake. He said as such to him when they went surfing Tuesday morning.
“JJ, I am not on anyone’s side. There are no sides.”
“But you knew!” JJ responded, his thoughts were circling in his head.
Pope sighed, “I knew that he sort of asked her out back at that party, but I didn’t know he came into the shop yesterday. and,” he gave JJ a pointed look, “I didn’t know you’d be this upset about June going on a date.”
“I’m not. She can go out with whoever she wants to go out with,” he said matter of factly.
Pope just raised his eyebrows and went back to unloading his car. They hadn’t made it down to the beach yet, JJ too distracted to keep walking.
“It’s just Topper man,” JJ fake shivered.
“Listen, no one’s thrilled about it being him, but we at least owe it to June to act, I don't know, neutral about the situation.”
“Okay, okay,” JJ brushed off his comment.
JJ wanted to say that no one knew if Topper was really June’s soulmate or not, but he knew that he would tell JJ not to be rude and accuse him of being in love with his best friend. Which was not the case here.
“No, I’m serious JJ. Don’t make her feel bad about going out with him. We owe it to her. That and about a million other things.”
JJ let that thought roll over in his mind. He was right. June was the most caring person in the world, she had put them all first every single time.
“Yeah, I know.” He paused, “And what if it’s not him?”
Pope was already walking down the beach, annoyed at how long JJ was taking, “then we fuck his shit up.”
JJ laughed at his abruptness because that’s exactly what he would have said.
The both of them spent the next few hours in the water, but JJ couldn’t stop thinking about what Pope said. And that’s why, the next day, JJ got out of bed before noon and drove to the bait shop around the time June would be getting off. He knew she wouldn’t have driven there, it was too nice of a day. So, he sat in the parking lot and waited.
When she was finally leaving, she used the side door. JJ had to run to catch up with her, startling both himself and June.
“Hey!” he called out.
She froze before turning around, “what’re you doing?” “Can I drive you home?”
She thought about it before agreeing.
“I’m sorry,” JJ began when they had gotten out of the parking lot. She was quiet and very visibly tired.
“The JJ Maybank… apologizing?” So, she was still mad.
“Okay, I deserve that. Go ahead, give it to me.”
June stayed silent in the passenger seat, her head leaning against the window, “No, I just shouldn’t have said anything.”
He gripped the steering wheel tighter, “No, it was shitty of me to be all passive-aggressive about it. It really doesn’t matter who you go out with or who you don’t or if it’s Topper or whoever.”
He looked over at her, bouncing her leg up and down and still leaning against the door.
“Are we okay?” he asks
“Always.” It took a moment for her to look over at him but she smiled. JJ cleared his throat and shifted his eyes back to the road. He already felt better, like he could breathe properly again knowing she wasn’t pissed off at him.
“What’re you humming?” He asks.
Her eyes were closed when she answered, “I don’t know. It’s been stuck in my head all day.” and then she started humming again, louder for JJ to hear.
“Oh, I know that song!” He starts to sing along, filling in the words.
June laughs, “I’ve literally never heard that song. That’s wild.”
“It’s your soulmate?” JJ poses tentatively.
“Yeah, yeah I guess so.” She breathed.
When they parked he asked, “Do you really think it’s Topper?”
June shot him a look instantly. He held his hands up in surrender, “I’m not arguing. Just… curious.”
She sighed a little before speaking, “I don’t know. But I’d hate myself if I didn’t try to find out, ya know?”
JJ just nodded his head, she looked as if she wanted to say more, but stopped herself. June climbed out of the truck and yelled behind her, “See you Friday?”
“Of course,” he yelled back. He watched her close the door behind her before driving off.
JJ didn’t go straight back to the chateau. Instead, he kept driving, the radio at the lowest possible setting, all the windows down until he ended up at his dad’s house. He parked a few houses down and just watched. He wasn’t sure if he was trying to build up the courage to go in, or if he wanted to see his dad come out, or what. He stayed for a while, not thinking about anything specific, just breathing in the cool air and watching.
Sometimes JJ wanted so badly to hate his dad. He desperately tries to erase all traces of familiarity, every last thing about himself that could possibly lead someone to Luke Maybank. He hated him. He hated him for giving JJ his eyes and his rough demeanor. He used to wish to be softer, kinder, more gentle. Someone like Pope or June. Instead, he was steel, dented, and hard to fix.
Sometimes JJ wanted so badly to hate his dad and everything he had done to him, that he couldn’t.
On Friday morning, well Friday afternoon, JJ walked into the living room of an empty chateau. Half asleep, he stumbled into the kitchen and pulled out an empty Eggo waffle box from the freezer. Cool. He then dragged his feet over to the cabinets and pulled out what was left of the coffee grounds and began making a pot. He thought about calling Pope and making him bring some breakfast from his dad’s, but then he saw the note on the counter.
went to get groceries. can’t survive on stale Oreos anymore
John b.
Well, that answered that JJ thought as his stomach growled. Stale Oreos didn’t sound too bad now.
About a half-hour later, he heard someone on the front porch and thought it must be JB back from the store, hands filled with groceries.
He flung open the door, “God, I’m starving. What-” He stopped in his tracks. Standing in front of him was his dad. It felt wrong, having him here. In this place, in this safe space that he and his friends had created. Such evil and anger weren’t welcome.
“What’re you doing here?” JJ said when his mouth finally caught up with his brain.
“Is that any way to greet your father?” Luke spoke as if he was reading from a teleprompter. His words were slow and meaningless, slurred together without a thought behind them.
JJ stayed silent, disgust rising in him.
“Heard you were in the neighborhood.”
“No,” JJ said through gritted teeth, “must’ve been someone else.”
“Don’t lie to me, boy. I’m the one who taught you how.” He was inching closer. He reeked of alcohol and sweat.
“You didn’t teach me anything.” He spits.
“Listen to me you little shit” Luke started, laughing as he lunged forward. It was a dark, empty sound. It made JJ’s ears ring. He closed his eyes for a second and the laugh echoed. It encompassed him, became him. JJ saw every fight, every empty beer bottle, every stack of cash blown away, every sleepless night and it overtook him. He was the product of hatred. He was steel, so scratched and dented and kicked in that not even the best people could fix him.
When JJ opened his eyes, his body hurt and his ears were ringing and he thought his lip was bleeding. He was laying on the porch, propped up against the doorframe. Once he was sure his dad had left, he started to get up. Every thought in his head was replaced by the throbbing of his left side. The more he walked, the more he breathed, the quicker it morphed into anger, “Fuck,” he yelled, “He came here! Here. Here. He was here.” He repeated it over and over until the words had no meaning. He left through the backdoor and ended up at the overlook. His mind was racing, replaying the moments from earlier and every moment prior. JJ didn’t want to cry, didn’t want to be the little kid with the shitfaced dad who forgot his birthday. But he was, so he did. JJ cried until his eyes were puffy and his head hurt and the sun had started setting.
Now, JJ was sitting in John B’s spare room. He crawled in through the window, not wanting to run into anyone if they were home. They were probably trying to call, but his phone was in the living room from this morning. He didn’t want to have to tell them, watch as their eyes scanned over him to assess the damage. He looked around the room that had somehow become his own. There were clothes piled on the floor, a few swimsuits left from the others hanging on the door, and empty beer cans littering the ground. The bed frame was broken, making the whole mattress tilt slightly towards the left.
JJ didn’t know what it was like to call someplace home. He was always hesitant, afraid that someone would just pull the rug out from under his feet and he’d be left falling. He never called his childhood bedroom home, it was a house. With four walls and a shitload of bad memories. He wanted to scream, why did he still let his dad have this control over him? He threw a shoe across the room and stormed out before stopping short in the hallway. He could hear a voice in the living room.
“Kie, it’s fine. I’m not going to be late, I just stopped at the chateau to get changed.”
She paused.
“Because it’s faster than driving all the way back to my house.”
“Okay, see you in five.”
Shit, his birthday dinner. JJ tried to retreat to the room, but he wasn’t fast enough. June had already seen him, “J! I didn’t know anyone was here. Thought you’d be with everyone else by now.”
She was holding onto the door frame with one hand and attempting to pry off her heels with the other. She was wearing a sparkling purple dress that he didn’t recognize and her hair was lazily pulled up on top of her head. A wave of nerves flooded his body, but he suppressed the feeling almost as fast as it happened.
He cleared his throat, “Uh, yeah. I was just leaving. Actually.” He grabbed his keys off the counter. He wasn’t sure if she could see his bruised knuckles from there, but he didn’t want to give her the chance.
“I can drive,” she offered softly, “if you’ll wait five minutes so I can get out of this shit,”
He nodded his head, and slowly sat at the counter, “spare’s open if you want.”
She nodded, heading into the room. JJ took this opportunity to bandage his side in the bathroom. It was already bruised, so he put some aloe vera on before taping it up and changing into a different shirt. Pope had mentioned once that aloe vera can help inflammation. Ever since there’s been a bottle in the first aid kit. He liked the smell, reminded him of summer.
He cleaned the cuts on his hand and his lip like he should have when he first got here. The blood was dry on his face and cleaning it only made the cut reopen. Fuck it, he thought and met June back in the living room.
She had changed into jeans.
“Hey, is this mine?” she asked, pointing to the shirt she was wearing. It was a gray high school track t-shirt, “I forgot to pack one and saw this in the dresser.”
“Must be, I didn’t do track, hell no.”
She laughs before linking her arm through his and leading them to the car. JJ couldn’t help but wonder how her date went. She was in good spirits, better than usual he noticed. He wanted to ask, but he was certain he didn’t want to know the answer. He wanted to tell her about his dad, too, surprisingly. But he knew the face that she’d make as soon as the words were out of his mouth. And that hurt JJ more than the possible broken rib.
When they got to The Wreck, Mr. Carerra waved them to the back where the rest of their friends sat. It felt the most normal JJ had felt in a long time like time resets itself when the five of them sit around a wooden table eating ice cream.
He tried to focus on the conversation, on the light music being played through the restaurant, on the crickets outside, anything to ground him to this moment.
“JJ?” John B asked from across the table.
“Hey,” June said a little louder, hitting his stomach to get his attention. He winced slightly before responding, “huh? Sorry. I was, uh, trying to figure out what song was playing.”
Pope and Kie share a look before diverting their attention back to John B who repeated his question, “Are you excited to figure out your soulmate?”
“Oh,” JJ laughed, “yeah. Thrilled.”
“Come on, it’s kind of exciting. You’ve gotta admit that.”
“Yeah, I guess.” His eyes scan the table, stopping at each of his friends. Truthfully, he doesn’t want anything to change. He’d trade a soulmate for his friends any day. It’s the only thing that makes sense.
When Kie's dad finally kicks them out of the restaurant, he makes her stay behind to clean the tables. They all offer to help, but to JJ’s excitement she assures them to go ahead and that she'd meet back up with them in a little. Pope and John B hop in the van and start driving away before the rest of them are even in the parking lot, “See you in ten,” Pope yells from the passenger side.
Once June and JJ are in the car, she makes JJ close her eyes.
“Why?” he questioned.
“Just do it.”
“June, I really-”
“Please?”
He huffed and pulled down his hat to cover his eyes. He could hear her moving around next to him.
“Okay, open.” JJ did as he was told and was presented with a soft gift-wrapped present.
“Happy birthday,” she said sweetly. She was facing him, turned sideways in the driver's seat with her head resting on the chair.
“It’s not my birthday yet.” He said, meeting her eyes.
“I wanted to be first.”
“I told you not to get me anything.”
“I don’t care,” she chuckled.
“June,”
“Take the present, you jerk.”
He pulled back the paper revealing a keychain laid on top of some type of clothes. He held it up to get a better look and realized it was a surfboard with “OBX” written on it like from a tacky souvenir shop, “cute.”
She smiled, “now look at that.”
He lifted the crewneck in his lap, it was a light blue color and had stitching near the colors.
Before he could say anything June interrupted, “Found it in that thrift shop by my house the other day.”
“I love it.”
“Yeah?”
“Yes, are you kidding?” He laughed a little, “thank you.”
She smiled again, satisfied with herself before turning forward and starting the car.
JJ messed with the rings on his fingers, examining the bruises that had started to form/
“Hey,” he said.
“Hey,”
“Have you… heard anything else? Like your soulmate, I guess.”
He felt her hesitate beside him, “Ya know what nevermind. It’s okay, you’re pretty sure it’s Topper and you really don’t have to tell me anything. It is totally okay. I was just-”
“Nervous?”
He sighs, “yeah.”
She clears her throat, “it’s not scary. At all. It is weird though, weird as hell. I mean it’s almost like if you weren't paying attention, you’d never even notice.”
She had the same far-off look John B got when he talked about this shit. It made him uneasy.
“But to answer your question, I’ve only heard it a few times.”
He nodded his head and mulled over what she said.
When he opened the door to the chateau, he was met by everyone standing in the living room, “happy birthday!”
“You distracted me!” He yelled at June shutting the door.
“It was my job!” she yelled back, “I had to give them time.”
He was laughing at everyone’s stupid party hats and the tray of brownies with sloppy “happy bday J” iced on top with a single lit candle. He made a show of blowing it out and pulled the others into a hug. He pretended to be annoyed at the effort, but deep down he had been so excited.
Later, he tried to etch it into his mind. He wanted to remember tonight as the best birthday he had ever had. He smiled as he fell asleep on a mattress that didn’t tilt to the left anymore in a room that he had made his home.

Chapter 1 - Worst to Best Birthday Surprise | TRP
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N’s birthday starts off at its worst, but it ends at its best.
Warning/s: Mentions of food, use of the nickname “dummy”
Series Masterlist
“Finally.” I sighed happily as I closed the trunk that contained all of my things, since it was my birthday today, I decided that the best gift to myself would be heading over to the Burrow to spend the rest of my summer vacation there.
I headed downstairs to the dining hall to retrieve the book that I left there yesterday evening.
My parents, who were talking about the latest controversy regarding the Duke of Valence’s recent wedding, and my sister were there when I got down, I quietly took the book from the table to avoid getting noticed and I was successful in my attempt until my mum suddenly spoke up.
“Come here Y/N, your father and I have something to tell you.”
I nodded and sat down beside my sister.
“Since, today is the day you finally turn 17, we’ve decided that your coronation will be held in a few weeks’ time.” She explained.
“What?!” I said, “Isn’t it too soon?”
Mum put her hand up, commanding strict silence, “Stop with that nonsense immediately. As soon-to-be Queen you should know better. Besides, I was crowned when I was 21, so you are in no place to talk.”
Christel gave me a sympathetic smile as she grabbed my hand from under the table.
“Your father and I will be in charge of the preparations.” Mum continued to explain.
I sighed, “Okay. I get it. Anything else?”
“No, you may go now.” She said with a dismissive wave of her hand.
That was it, no “Happy Birthday” or anything like that. But, it’s not like it was the first time.
I stood up, my sister following suit, “Before you leave, can we go to my room first? I want to show you something.”
I nodded, giving her a small smile, “Sure.”
She led me up to her room as I plopped down on her bed, “This is officially the worst birthday surprise ever! I just turned 17 and they’re expecting me to rule over Montenaro already!”
She let out a small laugh, opening her closet and taking out a small Tupperware as she handed it to me, “If only you could pass on the crown to me, then your problems would be solved.”
I looked at her as I sat up, gesturing to the Tupperware in my hand, “What’s this?”
She playfully rolled her eyes, “Just open it.”
I lifted the lid and saw a small cake with red frosting that spelled out, Happy 17th Birthday Sis!
I set the Tupperware down on the table before pulling Christel into a hug, “Thank you so much! You’re the best sister ever!”
She chuckled, “It’s nothing. I knew that mum and dad never gave you a cake in literally your whole life and they wouldn’t even bat an eyelid on the fact that it’s your birthday today.”
“Thank you so much.” I cooed, tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear.
Christel laughed, “Since I already gave you your present you can now go. I don’t want to keep you suffering here any longer.”
“Fine.” I said, jokingly rolling my eyes at her, “Thanks again for the cake and I’ll be writing to you every other day.”
--
I dragged my trunk out of the palace gates where a portkey that Arthur had already set up was waiting for me.
The silver can started shaking slightly and that’s when I knew that I had to hold on. I grabbed it as I was gently lifted off my feet, spun around and was transported to the Burrow.
I stumbled on the grass, feeling slightly nauseous, but otherwise, fine.
Once, the world stopped spinning, I lugged my trunk to the front steps of the Weasley home when I saw a little note with messy handwriting taped to the door.
Dearest Y/N,
I know that you’re coming today and all but the family has gone out for a bit and we’ll be back in a jiffy.
So, just get in, make yourself at home. We’ll be home soon. ;)
With lots of love from your favorite twin,
Freddie <3
Placing the note in my pocket, I pushed the door open and stepped inside, the whole house was pitch black and I could barely see a thing.
I reached for the light switch and switched it on, leaving my trunk in the living room as I headed towards the kitchen.
The Weasleys, along with Hermione and Harry, suddenly popped up while yelling, “Surprise” as confetti flew everywhere.
I slightly jumped, taken by surprise from the sudden appearance of everyone, “What’s this for?”
They all gave a hearty laugh as I took turns hugging them.
“Is that even a question? It’s your birthday today dummy. Unless, you’ve forgotten it yourself.” George said with a small chuckle.
I gave a sheepish grin, “I know, but you guys didn’t have to go all the way as to throw me a party.”
Fred stepped forward and pulled me into a tight hug, “So? It’s not everyday that you turn 17, and your birthday only comes once a year sweetheart.”
I blushed, my heart fluttering at the nickname while it was Molly’s turn to pull me into a hug.
“Besides dear,” She said, cupping my face in her hands, “Not to speak ill of your parents but we know that they wouldn’t even bother remembering this special day for you.”
“Thank you so much.” I said, feeling so touched as I looked at every one of them, “To be honest, the closest thing I had to a birthday party was when Christel and I snuck out to the nearest amusement park while mum and dad were away.”
Fred and George looked at each other, having identical grins as they each looped an arm around mine, “Then, we’ll give you the best party of your life.”
It was an understatement to say that a party with the Weasleys was simply having a good time. Every party felt like the party of the century.
I was seated on the couch, happily catching up with Hermione and Ginny when Fred plopped down beside me and rested an arm around my shoulders.
Ginny and Hermione gave me a teasing smile, aside from my sister, the only ones who knew about my crush on Fred were the two of them.
I gave the two of them a death glare, silently telling them to shut up.
“So, how’s your birthday party so far darling?” He asked, tracing random patterns all over my shoulder.
“Yeah, darling,” Ginny teased with a small smile, “How was it?”
I threw a pillow at her before answering, “It’s the best I’ve ever had.”
He smiled, “I bet I could make it even better.”
I giggled, “Oh yeah? How so Weasley?”
He stood up, holding out his hand, “Why don’t I show you?” He said with a small smirk.
I took his hand, standing up from my seat, “Okay then.”
Fred and I then took me up to his room, away from the noise downstairs.
I sat at the edge of his bed, “So, what is it?”
“Patience sweetheart,” he said, walking over to his drawer and started searching for something.
“Here.” He said with a triumphant smile as he handed me a small black box.
I gave him a suspicious look, “This is not a prank, isn’t it?”
“Of course not.” Fred grinned, sitting down beside me, “Why would I prank you on your birthday?”
I gave him a knowing look before slowly opening the box, it revealed a small silver bracelet with the letter F as it’s charm. Then, fireworks started to fly out of it, spelling out the words, Will you be my girlfriend?
Fred tried to hold his confident demeanor as I stared at him, my mouth slightly agape, desperately awaiting my answer.
I threw my arms around him, “Yes! Yes! I will be your girlfriend, Freddie!”
He grinned, pulling me in for a kiss as he rearranged our position so I was straddling him.
The door to his room suddenly flew open, a now flustered Ron standing at the doorway, stuttering something about cake before running away from the room as fast as he could.
Fred and I looked at each other before started bursting into a fit of laughter.
“I’d be surprised if he hasn’t told everyone by now.” Fred said.
I smacked him on the shoulder, “Didn’t you even see how traumatized he was?”
Once we had recovered, Fred and I headed back down. As expected, the whole family was waiting for us.
George wore a smug smile, “So, how was it?”
Fred and I shared a smile as he shrugged, “She said yes.”
Everyone present in the house cheered, as George and Ginny started a chant, “She said yes! She said yes! She said yes!”
Fred placed a kiss on my temple as he placed an arm around my waist and handed me a plate with a slice of cake.
It was the best birthday ever.

Yours truly - I
Tumblr media
series masterlist
warnings: hyperbolisation with the use of word ‘attack’ - no actual violence
Ottery St. Catchpole, 29th June 1995
Dear Y/N,
I hope this letter finds you, quite literally, as I might have to use Errol to send it. But just as I’ve told you, here I am, writing. How are you doing? How’s been your travel back home and the first moments of summer?
I’ve been alright. It’s good to be back home, sleep in my own bed. Lee snores like a chimaera, you know? You’d think I’d have gotten used to the snoring, but when it’s gone I sleep like a baby. Have you ever wondered why people say that? And have you ever seen a baby that just goes to sleep peacefully?
My family might have to move soon for a bit. My parents haven’t said much yet, though. I only know the place is in London, so no playing quidditch. What is summer without quidditch? I know what you’d say and I’ll agree – rubbish. But with all the fuss around You-Know-Who, the only good thing coming out of it might be that my parents will be preoccupied enough to let George and I do our thing in peace. Hopefully.
The bad news is, the moment we stepped through the door mum went berserk and attacked me and George with scissors – so long-haired Freddie is no more. Reckon my face can still save the game, though. Still feels weird, I’ve been growing it out for so long.
I’ll stop this first letter here, keep it a bit shorter. More enticing this way, isn’t it? Besides, wouldn’t want to blow you away with my literary skills right away. I know you already can’t wait to write back, so I’ll be awaiting your response patiently. Don’t test me, though.
Yours truly,
Fred

a/n: thank you so much for all the hype after announcing the series! seeing all the excitement it was hard for me to judge what people had in mind while they imagined this series and i hope the first letter doesn't crash with your expectations. after all, it's just the beginning, i hope i don’t have to say it but i will anyway, just in case - it's all (or mostly?) intentional 😌

Yours truly - II
Tumblr media
series masterlist
p/n - name of the place you live in, city/town/village
O/N - your owl's name
p/n, 30th June 1995
Hello Fred,
You’ll be happy to know I did receive your letter in the end, although poor Errol did look like he was about to snuff out. I’ve let him rest, nursed him a bit, and let him fly back – I think I’ll use my own owl, O/N, to send this letter.
It’s nice to be back home, especially after what happened last week. I’ve been greeted at the door by my dog and everything became ten times better. I fully intend to just do nothing for the next 8 weeks. Although there is also a part of me that wants to do something productive, you know? Maybe I’ll learn how to knit? Or bake, or something? We’ll see how it goes.
Does your family moving have something to do with what they’re all saying? That You-Know-Who’s back? I still don’t know what to think about it, it all seems so bizarre. I haven’t had the chance to speak to Harry, and truthfully, I’m not sure I’d know how... Nonetheless, if it’s all true, I hope your family stays safe. And don’t blow up the new place, Fred. What else you and George could be working on, anyway? Maybe it would’ve been good for you two to have some outlet in quidditch. I mean, who knows, the two of you might just spontaneously combust if you’re locked up inside for too long. Perhaps you could use your time and energy to practice your hand-writing? I don’t even want to think about the amount of time I spent trying to decipher your letter. And as for your hair being chopped – I think it's about time. I won't say anything else, you’re cocky enough as it is.
I have to say I didn’t expect you to actually write a letter. I wonder what kind of pen-pal you’ll be, Fred. If I don’t hear back, I’ll assume you blew yourself up.
Sincerely,
Y/N

Chapter 2 - Hard to Hide | TRP
Tumblr media
Summary: As the stress of the coronation increases with every passing day, the secret itself becomes hard to hide.
Warning/s: Mentions of food, mentions of eloping
Series Masterlist
I sighed, leaning by the porch of the Burrow, reading the paper my sister sent me under the rising sun.
The press never seem to miss anything, the headlines read: Coronation of First-Born Princess to be Held Soon.
And that was the last thing I needed.
To add to my annoyance, the article kept on stating how excited and happy I am to be crowned when they didn’t even interview me and got my thoughts about the matter.
As if mum and dad would let them interview me anyway.
I threw the paper to the side in disgust, but as I heard footsteps approaching the spot where I sat, I hid it away from view as best as I can.
“What’cha doing here darling?” Fred asked, pressing a kiss to my temple as he sat down beside me.
I gave him a small smile, “Just watching the sunrise.”
He dramatically gasped, feigning offense as he said, “You’re watching the sunrise without me? How could you do such a thing Y/N?”
I laughed at his theatrics, “You’re always so overdramatic, aren’t you?”
He smiled, putting an arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him, “But, honestly sweetheart, you seem stressed about something for the past few days. Is there something wrong?  Is there anything I could do to help?”
I chuckled, “Don’t need to worry Freddie. Everything’s absolutely fine, like I said, nothing to worry about.”
He raised a brow, “Are you sure sweetheart? You know you can tell me anything.”
I nodded, resting a hand on his chest, “Don’t worry, you’ll be the first to know when I have a problem.”
“Oi Lovebirds!” George’s head poked out from the window, “It’s time for breakfast! The cuddling can wait later!”
Fred groaned, muttering something about wrong timing as we headed back into the Burrow hand in hand.
--
Snapping my book closed in frustration, not being able to keep the article from occupying my thoughts.
I stood up, walking over to the desk in Ginny’s room and writing a letter in response to my sister’s.
Someone knocked tentatively on the door. “Come in!” I said, sealing up the letter and tying it to Hedwig’s leg as he flew off to the palace.
“Hey Y/N!” Hermione greeted as she entered the room, “Ginny and I were going out for some ice cream, do you wanna come?”
I smiled, “I thought you’d never ask.”
We walked through the alleys of the muggle town near the Burrow, chatting happily with our ice cream in hand, looking around a bit at the stores.
That was until, Hermione and I dragged Ginny to the bookstore.
“Why do I need to supervise the two of you?” She asked, “Y/N is practically of age and Hermione, you’re the most mature and most level-headed person in your year.”
Hermione and I exchanged a look, “Well Ginny,” I started to explain, “we’re in a bookstore.”
“And if you leave us unsupervised in a bookstore, chances are, Y/N and I would be going back carrying stacks upon stacks of books. So, unless you want that to happen, you have to supervise us.” Hermione finished.
Ginny playfully rolled her eyes at us, sporting a small grin, “Fine. Fine. Now, run along before I regret my decision.”
So, thanks to the redhead supervising us, we only came home with four books each.
--
Dinner had just finished, most of us were gathered around in the living room while Molly had started knitting and Arthur was tinkering with a muggle radio in their shed.
I leaned against my boyfriend’s chest as he threaded his fingers through my hair. George was busy writing a letter to Angelina, the trio and Ginny were settled near the fireplace, talking about Merlin knows what.
I inhaled the familiar firework powder and cinnamon scent of my boyfriend as he had me wrapped in the warmth of his embrace.
I felt like I was being lulled into a state of comfort and peace as I traced random patterns along his arm.
“Freddie?” I asked quietly, looking up at him.
His eyes softened by the light of the fireplace, even though he was looking down at me with worry and concern, I couldn’t help but adore the man looking down at me as the soft glow of the fire seemed to compliment his features.
“Darling?” Fred’s voice quietly rang through the air, snapping me out of my daze, “Are you alright?”
I licked my lips, “I can tell you anything, right?”
He nodded, furrowing his brows a bit, “Of course, and if it’s something that’s bothering you, then I’ll do what I can to help.”
I gave him a grateful smile, “Can we talk somewhere private? I don’t want anyone else to hear about it.”
He nodded before standing up, pulling me up with him as he wrapped an arm around my waist.
“The missus and I will be retreating upstairs.” He said with a cheeky smile, ducking when Molly threw the dish towel at him when he said the name missus. “So, do not disturb and good night everyone!” He added as we retreated upstairs.
“Use protection!” George called after having Molly smack him at the back of the head.
As soon as we entered his room, Fred shut the door behind him and sat down on the edge of the bed, patting his lap.
I sat down in his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck as I was engulfed back into the warmth of his embrace.
“What did you want to tell me?” He asked.
“Well, remember me being the first-born princess and someday I have to be crowned as Queen?” I said.
He nodded, staying silent.
“That day, might be coming sooner than I thought.” I said.
He gave me a confused look, “What do you mean?”
I got off his lap, walking over to my trunk as I took out the paper my sister had sent to me earlier and handed it to Fred.
His eyes scanned over the headlines, then to the article underneath it. Even if he stayed silent, by the way his jaw clenched, I knew he was furious.
“How could they say this rubbish about you?” He said in frustration, throwing the paper behind him, “They talk about your happiness as if they know you. Then they say about whether or not you’re fit to be Queen.”
He then harshly grabbed the paper, “And get a load of this, ‘in an interview with the chief of staff of the palace, he states that, “The Princess has been trained to manage Montenaro ever since she was five. She may not be present at the moment, but we assure you that she will not turn her back on her responsibilities to the kingdom. Though she may have made some friends at the boarding school she attends, she will not let their influences get in the way of what she’s truly destined for.’”
He stood up, running his hand through his hair in frustration, “How could he speak like that about you? Like he knows what you want?”
I stepped forward wrapping my arms around his torso as he held onto me tightly, “And your coronation is happening in three weeks?! You just turned seventeen and they’re already expecting you to rule over a kingdom!”
I bit my lip, “According to the law of Montenaro, seventeen is legally an adult. I don’t know why my parents want to get crowned this early, but I’m actually having some doubts about it.”
“What do you mean by doubts?” Fred asked, resting his chin on the top of my head.
I hummed, breathing in his scent to calm myself down, “My parents have drilled into my head that being Queen is always what I was meant to be. But, deep down in my heart, I know that, it’s not what I want.”
“Then why don’t you tell them?”
I sighed, “If only it was that easy Freddie. Unlike your parents, mine never listen to me or what I have to say.”
“And if I, by any chance, I go against their wishes, the worst-case scenario is I would be disowned. I’m already a disappointment to them, so, why make it worse.”
“Hey.” Fred said gently, placing a finger under my chin and lifting my head up, “You’re not a disappointment, any parent would be lucky to have you as their daughter. If your family is too daft to realize that, then it’s their loss.”
He pressed a brief kiss on my lips, “I’ll support you in whatever path you choose. And if your parents don’t approve of our relationship, then, we’ll run off, elope and then shove our marriage certificate in front of their faces if they even try to put you in an arranged marriage. Nothing’s stopping us.”
I laughed, “You always know what to say to make me feel better.”
He smiled, “No matter what you choose, I’ll always be here for you.”
