After his wife dies, brain surgeon Andy Brown packs up kids Ephram and Delia and moves them all to Everwood, Colorado. The few things I knew going into this: #TreatWilliams and #GregorySmith were in it, and his character had something going on with the nanny. First two seasons were solid; the last two, while still good, leaned into the will they/won’t they of Ephram and Amy a little too much? (May be the age at which I watched it though); and I know Hannah was still in high school while Ephram, Amy and Bright were in college, swear to god they showed up at her school like they were still students at least once though, and all the college campuses looked the same even though I thought they went to different schools. Hannah and Bright were cute (giving him a chance to grow and gain some depth - that shower scene though 👀) if a bit predictable. Also predictable, though I grew to really like it, was the relationship between Andy and Harold Abbott, even with how dour Abbott was in the beginning; their contrasting relationships with their children was interesting. Treat Williams thought it was very Frank Capra-esque and thinks of it as one of the best projects he’s ever been part of. Glad they went with Smith instead of their other choice (Jared Padalecki). And OMG the “famous” cast members and cameos like #ScottWolf (that backstory, that brother...), Marcia Cross, #DylanWalsh (whoamygod that storyline!), Philip Baker Hall, #JamesEarlJones (basically his character from The Sandlot, with a piano), Kate Mara, #BettyWhite!, #BrendaStrong, Kristen Bell, Keith David, #JKSimmons.
