"You should!" she exclaimed, setting down the hot glue gun and lifting the glasses to show Luna her handiwork. If the girl wanted something changed, she would do it in a heartbeat.
"I can help you set up a plan. I'm sure they'll be thrilled. Eventually." She nodded slowly with her lips pursed, like a sage dispensing wisdom. "Adults suck when they don't get along for the people they do care about. You're the kid. You asked for none of this."
Tumblr media
Luna puffed out her cheeks a bit, sighing. At least she wasn't alone with the strange family dynamics. She couldn't quite relate, but then, she didn't expect Gabby to relate to her family weirdness. It didn't even really faze her that Gabby admitted to having died once. Her own father had nearly killed her exposing her to Terrigenesis. It was all relative.
"I do have a birthday coming. I could demand everyone play nice for a day." She smiled a little. "Maybe?"

@merriemarvels sent: “ I disappoint my father as a hobby now. ” (for Teddy from Luna because there is NO reason they shouldn't have met by now lmao)
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤPerhaps Teddy shouldn't laugh at a statement like that, considering. But… well, he kind of can't help it. Luna's wit is razor sharp for her age, and the quip about Pietro is just a little too much like something Billy might say. Leaning back on his palms, the Kree-Hybrid grins at her and shakes his head.
ㅤㅤㅤ“…you'd fit right in with the Young Avengers, y'know?” He replies, expression softening as he thinks of his friends, of how they've cobbled together a family out of shared traumas and broken homes. Yeah, Teddy knows they'd like Luna.
ㅤㅤㅤ"-- and anyway, from what I've heard about it, seems like your dad is the one being disappointing.” Teddy also knows a little something about that.

"Dad. I require an allowance." (from Luna, of course)
@merriemarvels
Around the compactness of family ties within hermitic royalty of New Attilan it was sheer strenght to uphold demands from society, but not when it came to Luna Maximoff and her parents. As for Pietro, he wouldn't shed the skin and throw one's weight behind but stand firm upon foundation plinth like any pillar of supportive father would; or at least would try his best.
Lockjaw was finally out of his footing and another piece of his soul is here —- and glacier mass of riverly tenacity melts ... for littoral season summered in rhythm of cardiac jubilation.
Snowy eyebrows creased, letters dropping table-ward now fully focused and looking at being bright and suspicious as rays of daybreak.
" Allowance? " Curious about the weighty amount of something within a set of regulations he was only keen to ask, " Mind to specify what for? "
Oh, my heart, you ask and it might already be granted, but first I need to know what's on your mind.

"I think personally, if we're going to pull this off we're going to need a team of guys."Gabby honestly thought it was insane that her dad that grounded her and dads of the biological kind were two things in Gabby's experience: Stupid and smelled bad. Gabby pulled out her phone and looked at her contacts list, they needed a reliable people if they were gonna pull off the Get Luna's Phone Back scheme. "First off we're going to need a reliable adult to distract your dad and someone who thinks this will be funny. I have two options, Wade or Akihiro. If those two fall through I have a hulk that will do it but then we have to get him a happy meal. Then we sneak in to your dad's closet and take your phone back. Easy. Simple. Nothing can go wrong."

Gabby knew a shitty dad when she smelled him. He probably wasn't as bad as Logan but taking a phone away was one step away from becoming Logan. Logan liked to think he had authority over Gabby but Akihiro and Laura were the people who had the power to ground her.
Gabby grinned. "Oh I so have money for a happy meal get a load of this." She dug in to her pockets pulling out her pink wallet and produced a fist fill of fives, a gift card for a milkshake place with an unknown amount of money still on it and Akihiro's credit card that was for 'emergencies only.'
"I'm pretty sure this should cover us! But if not Akihiro has us covered." He would understand. This was a total emergency. He hated dads too! He totally wouldn't mind if Gabby was using his card to pull off a complex job like this.
"I also have," She dug around in her pockets again "A ladybug bracelet, a scrunchie and Jonathan's mask."

Luna wasn't normally a poorly-behaved child. She could be blunt, even to the point of being rude, but that had more to do with her ability to read people's auras -- you can't lie to a girl who can literally see right through you. She knew her father had been up to something lately, and knew that her aunt and at least one of the cousins she'd heard about but never met was involved... but when she'd asked Pietro about it he'd gotten defensive, and when she'd made a snappy comment about how Wanda never lies to her, he'd grounded her. No games, no visit to the aquarium -- and no phone.
The man infuriated her sometimes, but at least he was acting like a father these days. He'd even consulted Crystal on the suitable punishment for her behavior. Even if she hated it, and called in reinforcements to at least get her phone back.
"Hmm." If she'd known who these people were it might have helped. As it was Gabby was a loose playmate, someone she'd run into and who'd listened to her complain because Pietro had dropped Luna off in Krakoa like it was a daycare. Still, she could somewhat go off of Gabby's feelings on the matter based on her aura; the options of Wade, Daken or the nameless hulk showed different levels of enthusiasm. Wade seemed the most likely to help, but the least... not trustworthy per se... but most likely for them to end up in trouble anyway. Daken showed a faint worry that something would go wrong; the hulk guy was harder to read, but showed the most interest, and the most possibility for it to be fun.

"You think my family gets along?" Gabby asked in disbelief.
"Aki and Logan tried to stab, drown, annihilate each other so many times. Aki led Laura on a wild hunt through Madripoor before allowing himself to bond with her. Laura and Logan... they got history, and I don't know most of it but she gets that sad look sometimes. An old Logan stabbed and killed me once."
She set the bedazzled glasses down and threw her hands in the air. "I'm the glue of this family!" she exclaimed. "Me and Jonathan!"
She leaned towards Luna. "They won't get along until you make them get along. They all care about you, right? So you can get them together by making it for you."
Tumblr media
Blinking quickly, Luna stared at the other girl for a long moment, a furrow appearing between her brows. "That sounds... like a very terrible idea when it comes to my family. You -- you do realize who they are, yes? If I claimed an emergency my grandfather might -- well, do something crazy. He's blind when it comes to family." She picked at a loose thread of her jacket.
"It's not a good idea to get my family together anyway," she added, her voice lowering somewhat. "Mother does not care for any of them. Father and Grandfather are like magnetic poles -- alike but diametrically opposed, forever arguing even though it's clear they care about one another. Aunt Lorna is finally getting along with the others, mostly with Aunt Wanda..." The way she knew all of this was clear, of course -- the auras she saw, when her family interacted. The way their lights interacted, conflicted.
Her arms folded on the table and she thumped her chin on them with a huff. "Even if they're violent, at least your family gets along."

"You should try what I did with my family when I wanted some vacation time. I texted them that there was a big emergency with a bunch of emojis, and when they showed up I took them on a road trip."
She paused.
"I mean, I didn't drive, but I had it all planned out."
She wasn't going to disclose that the trip was originally a disaster, because they had fun and bonded ax a family on the way.
"I could help you organize it with your dad. Maybe your aunts."
A sparkle of mischief gleamed in Gabby's eye. She wanted to bring Luna's family together the way she'd brought her own together.
Tumblr media
Luna was content to be in charge of the box of jewels, picking out mostly clear ones but a few yellow and pale green ones here and there. They were definitely going to sparkle when Gabby was done, but that really was the point. Plus it was just nice to do something simple for a change.
"Yes," she replied, resting her chin on her hand, elbow on the table. "My father's Quicksilver. I'm supposed to be visiting him this week, but he's busy with who-knows-what." The funny thing was, Luna didn't have the first clue what a normal upbringing was, either. Kidnappings, moving castles, alien invasions, Terrigenesis... Honestly the last few years had been the most normal and stable in her existence, and even then, things were often strange.
Maybe she could see about spending more time here. There were children her age, teachers, people who didn't seem to mind if her gaze lingered a little overlong -- after all, she was just one of thousands of children with powers, here.

Gabby started helping Luna to bedazzle the glasses. "So... Lorna's your aunt?" she asked, making conversation as they worked. By any stretch of the imagination, Gabby did not have a regular upbringing... she watched many coming of age and teen movies to try and learn some social graces.
Most people in her life were adults until very recently, and even with the Krakoan teens, she had her ups and downs.
"That makes Mags your grandfather, right?"
Tumblr media
It would have been OK if Gabby hadn't been able to find any moons -- but the grin when she did was pretty nice, since it also shot off some genuine sparks of delight in the process. "Cool." While she knew by looking that the glue gun was hot, it didn't really register that Gabby poked it with her bare finger -- but then, there was no gauge for normal when you grew up in a palace full of Inhumans...
Holding the little gem she kept on watching, feeling a sense of... strange normalcy. This was what girls did, she supposed, if they had a friend close to their age. Not that Luna would know, the only child close to her age in Attilan was Ahura, and he was a jerk.

Gabby wasn't aware of Luna's powers, and even if she were, she wouldn't mind or care. She hung out with enough telepaths to know some stuff can't stay hidden. No matter how hard she tried to conceal it.
"Ah, I have stars... some planets... wait, a moon!" She perked up when she located one moon shaped stone in her box of crafts. She handed it to Luna, checking whether the hot glue was hot by touching it - even if she got burned, she didn't feel pain and could heal almost instantly.
Tumblr media
Well, arts and crafts wasn't exactly what she'd been planning trying to visit her father today, but if Luna knew anything, it was how to adapt. She crouched down, hugging her knees as she watched, and tried really hard not to notice Gabby's aura -- but it wasn't exactly easy. There was a pulsating darkness deep inside that actually worried her a little, only because it reminded her of the deep, bitter sadness she'd felt in her Grandfather once. But it was hidden, carefully buried under layers of aggressive perkiness, and she had to respect it.
"Oh, I like the stones. Do you have moons?" She grinned. "My name is Luna."

"Ah, my dad." Gabby commented when Luna brought up the mutant called Wolverine. "Or my brother, briefly. Now Wolverine's my sister."
Gabby was a bit disappointed, when Luna proposed her own glasses. "Oh those are cute, it could work." She brought out the hot glue gun from her little bag, and a box of glitter and other assorted fake but shiny stones.
Tumblr media
"Huh. Never seen a real one before. Only the guy with the claws." At the suggestion Luna's eyes went quite wide and her sunglasses slid down her nose a fraction. "Nuh-uh. No way." She thought for a moment, then popped the shades off her nose. "How 'bout these? Any good accessory is better with glitter."

"Jonathan is a literal wolverine. He's already got a dozen of bedazzled collars, handmade and crafted with care." Gabby pursed her lips. "What about your mom? Can we bedazzle anything of hers?"
Tumblr media
"... Dad's suit is already really shiny though... Something about wind drag." She pondered that for a moment. "What about a collar for your, uh -- what is that thing, anyway?"

ㅤㅤㅤ“Yeah…” Teddy shrugs again, this time his shoulders curling inward, as if to make the conscious effort to appears smaller, “… If the kind of fairy-tale you're talking about is like Romeo and Juliet, I guess.”
ㅤㅤㅤThat is to say… a tragic tale. But not without purpose... not if Teddy has anything to say about it, anyway. He won't let the dream his parents kindled between them (the hope of unity between Kree and Skrull-kind that manifested in Theodore's unlikely birth) die with them.
ㅤㅤㅤ“…I mean, I never really knew my birth parents, but ever since I learned the truth of who they were — who I am —“ Teddy blows out a breath, the exhalation pushing his blonde fringe from his eyes, “I really believe they wanted to change things for the better. And I think… it might be up to me to ensure they still can.”
ㅤㅤㅤPerhaps that's too earnest to say to someone Hulkling's only known for a brief time. Especially when he can tell Luna meant her words as a gentle jest. But Teddy's not really one for doing things by halves, and he suspects that Luna isn't either.
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤ“… As for Xavier,” The Half-Kree crosses his arms over his chest, head tipping back in consideration, “I thought he never left the Mansion because he had that giant telepath brain-boosting machine in his basement? The one that lets him basically find any mutant on the planet?” Or even on other planets, if the rumors than ran rampant among the Young Avengers were to be believed. Teddy only knows this stuff because he thought himself a Mutant for a long time before learning the truth of his lineage.
ㅤㅤㅤHe hums quietly in thought, “…I dunno, I still think being able to look at someone and just know their intentions is a pretty practical ability to have. Not every field op needs to be about beating someone up.”
Tumblr media
"Right. Teddy." She was used to the certain level of propriety expected of a princess of Attilan, and the most striking was the way people insisted on names. To be fair, her family had full names and then titles, which were routinely used in place of their names. Luna's name was short enough that most didn't bother trying to give her odd little monikers like that. Much to un-learn.
Tumblr media
She nodded. "Mother is the second-in-line behind my aunt, Medusalith, through her husband, Blackagar. I would be first behind her, were it not for my cousin Ahura." Now it was her nose that wrinkled, along with her upper lip. She didn't like her cousin, and the feeling was pretty well mutual.
Listening to him, though, brought a smile back onto her face. She could see the way he felt, in the shifting colors of his aura -- the deep sadness, a pinpoint of darkest black that was snuffed like a candle flame as soon as it tried to assert itself. Happy memories and sad, the dancing colors picking up speed before slowing again, blowing away the harder feelings so what remained was a softer, gentler light. It fascinated her how different his colors were, yet how similar they could be to everybody else's. He was smiling at her, and she could see the comfort in finding something of a kindred spirit --
a royal out of their element.
"Aunt Wanda told me some of your past, once. What she knew and felt comfortable sharing." She propped her chin on her fist. "Though it sounds very much like a fairy-tale. The knight and the beautiful princess, and the prince who was lost." Blue eyes sparkled a little, showing the amusement of the hyperbole -- she was teasing him, just a little.
Then, a much more amused giggle. "Professor Xavier never leaves his mansion. I have to see a person to read them -- though I am able to do it through holo-feed, as we've discovered. But it does not have a very practical field application, as Ahura is so thrilled to remind me."

ㅤㅤㅤTeddy wrinkles his nose at being called 'Theodore,' quick to reply with a wave of his hand, “—Please. Call me Teddy, Ok? Only my Mom ever called me Theodore, and usually because I was in trouble.”
ㅤㅤㅤThe thought of his (Foster? Adoptive?) mother sobers the Skrull-Hybrid from his good humor, gaze going distant with memory. Almost absently, he asks, “...Your mom… She's a princess, right?"
ㅤㅤㅤTeddy's heard the history, at least some of it. Billy does his best to explain the Maximoff's extended family tree, but things tend to get complicated kinda fast (which… is really saying something, considering Hulkling's own convoluted beginnings).
ㅤㅤㅤShrugging in a way that suggests he sometimes forgets how broad his shoulders truly are, Teddy pushes aside his melancholia and offers Luna another smile, the tilt of his mouth gone crooked.
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤ"Mine was an empress... well, my birth-mom was. I think she even met your dad once." For such an infinite multi-verse, the cosmos can feel rather small sometimes. Teddy heartens a little at that thought, and at the notion that as different as he and this daughter of Attilan Royalty might be, they're still… connected, somehow.
ㅤㅤㅤ"I think reading people is a pretty big deal, regardless of what of team you're on…" He muses, thoughtful, "I mean, Professor Xavier reads people, doesn't he? And he leads a whole school of superheroes."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Should she be hanging out in Alliance territory when there hadn't really been time to figure out the diplomatic positioning of the nascent empire against the remnants of Attilan? Probably not, but then, when did any Maximoff do the smart thing where family was concerned? It was easy to convince Franklin to lend her a teleporter belt, and she'd been curious for a while as she'd overheard quite a bit of speculation but sensed nothing nefarious.
Teddy was a lot easier to look at than Billy. Billy had this near-blinding aura of magic and possibility that radiated from his core like a sun, she always had to keep her shades down for a few minutes before she was used to the glare. Teddy's wasn't dim, but it wasn't so uncomfortable. Her sunglasses were perched on her head, tucked in the golden curls.
"That is the status quo with my father," she agreed with a soft giggle. "At least, were you to ask my mother's opinion. Then again, Mother has never quite forgiven any of them." Tilting her head, she raised a brow at him. "What utility would an aura-reader serve to a superhero team, Theodore?"
