Day 18: Arapaima

I was invited out on a river expedition down in the tropics soon after we released the River Digger back to the habitat we found it in. There is something paradoxical about the murky tropical rivers, equal parts tranquil and irritating, calm and unsettling. Home to some of the most beautiful specimens, or jaws filled with more teeth than seems reasonable. As was the case when we encountered an Obsidian River Stalker, sometimes it can be both. To be fair, we startled him, and he was a pretty good sport once he figured we weren't a threat. It was a little unsettling when we realized he was following us, but nothing a little snack couldn't fix. I named him Gar.

This is my entry for day 18 of mermay: smol! I thought making a mermaid that is loosely inspired by sea slugs would be cute. I initially was using photos of a nembrotha cristata as my colour reference, but my mermaid ended up being much more blue than the reference (whoops). I still think she's cute tho

Mermay Day 18: Spotted Seal

Sometimes, you get a pleasant surprise when you're out on the water. You're looking for one thing, and you stumble across something else. On a recent trip to check on some of our outposts, we passed this small rocky island. There was a figure there, waving at us, making calls and whistles and the like. Closer inspection revealed a Speckled Rock Hopper, a friendly fellow. We took the opportunity, of course, and observed for a few hours before he dove back into the water. We named him Milo. I hope I see him again.

Dragon Ball Mermay

Since today is Goku Day, I did this Dragon Ball mermaid AU featuring the human fighters and their girlfriends for both Goku Day and Mermay 2024. You have to guess if Yamcha's girlfriend is Bulma or Vidro.

A group of mermen are playing some volleyball as their mermaid girlfriends watch the game. A blond hair and white scale fish tail mermaid with blue eyes comment, "Well, look at those boys. They sure have great teamwork." and another blond hair mermaid with a green scale fish tail said, "I don't get your choice of a man, Lazuli, given that Krillin is small. Still, I'm sure that my man Tien would be the star if all of yours don't hog the spotlight." A blue hair mermaid with a black scale fish tail call out, "Do your best, Yamcha!" and Yamcha got distracted by his girlfriend that the volleyball hit him in the head, causing him to fall by his side, and both Krillin and the blue hair mermaid cry out, "Yamcha!" while Launch said, "Man, what a idiot." Tien sigh and then said, "You did well in the game, Yamcha, but you still lost focus."
