I love it when my tail and hair blend with the lake. It helps me feel like a part of Lake Michigan even more. 🖤 . I don't know what to write for a description here. THE SIRENS ARE LURKING 🖤🖤🖤 Today, there will be a NEW mermaid video posted to YouTube at 12:00 p.m. EST. The "How to Become a Mermaid" Series will finish up on Saturday and Sunday... since my originally scheduled video for today (where to buy sequin tails) failed to upload last night.😖 . . . ANYWAYS! I had a real "The Little Mermaid" moment. I washed up on shore in Northport for an impromptu photo shoot with mom and ended up getting swarmed by an adorably fluffy pooch! The dog was always the best part of that movie. 😘 But hey... was anyone else blessed with a beautiful gloomy day? I REALLY hope we get more like them. Gosh. Throwback to when @tcmermaid231 and I collaborated on an event together. There are some who love the ocean, and some who love the sea. But on the shores of Lake Michigan is where you'll always find me. 🖤 I know I just created a post spewing out adoration for my lake... but I'm going to write about it again to remind you of how awesome the Great Lakes are. 😉 . My lake is a beautiful one. She's calm, clear and refreshingly cool on most summer days. She's known for her brilliant blue color and her soft, sandy beaches that are dotted with tiny treasures of stone. . But, my lake is more than just beautiful. She is powerful, unpredictable and even deadly. Many ships have been lost in the battle against her. Lives have been taken too. She is the provider and protector of all of the creatures who dwell within her and of those who walk beside her. She changes with the wind, transforms with the seasons and cannot be tamed. . "The harder I work, the luckier I get." -Samuel Goldwyn 🖤 I got into a conversation with some folks today and one of them brought up my Instagram account where I "pretend to be a mermaid." It was not a serious conversation, and I took no offense, but it did get me thinking! Perhaps "pretending to be a mermaid" is what I appear to do on the surface, but that's not even a fraction of what I do at all. I'm an entertainer, a role model, a trend-setter, a business owner, a video creator, a marketer, the stylist, the makeup artist, the graphic designer, the customer service team, the financial advisor, etc. I am the entire "credit" section of a movie and more. I'm not just a woman that "pretends to be a mermaid." 😂 . I know we've talked about a similar topic a while back, but I felt the need to bring it up again. For those of you out there who see people that appear successful, that appear to have the life that you want, that appear to be living your dream... remember that what you see isn't the whole picture. You may not always realize the hard work and dedication that it takes to get that job, to get that lifestyle, to get that guy/girl, to get "in shape," to get those fancy French doors... it doesn't just happen by luck or by chance. It happens if you WORK for it. . So get off of your tush and get to work. That's what I've been doing since I got home at 1:30PM... and I'll keep it up until I go to bed at 9PM. Then I'll get up at 5AM and do it all over again until my dream is a reality. . This is an odd post. Did you know that Mermaid Phantom can only see 3 inches in front of her face? That's right! When she is not wearing the human contraptions called "contacts," she really can't see anything but blurs of color and light. Phantom is extremely near-sighted and has severe astigmatism. Because of this, she has been known to talk to trees and boulders, thinking they are humans... . This mermaid is considered legally blind while swimming in the water. And although she cannot see much, she has developed various techniques for safely navigation the waters of her lake home. While it HAS happened before, Phantom rarely runs into boulders. 😉🖤 . PLEASE READ: Dear followers new and old. There are people who look at me and think I have life all figured out. There are people who want to be like me. There are people who have called me perfect and people who give me such high praises that it makes me blush. I appreciate you all, truly I do. . But please remember, I am not perfect. You are not perfect. The people we see on Instagram and on TV... NONE of them are perfect. We are human. Humans are flawed by nature. And that is okay. . So when you look at my polished and edited Instagram posts and think "she's so pretty," or "I wish I could be like her," remember that I only post what I want you to see. I don't show you the epic doggy-paddle moments, the times I make a weird face OR when my mer-muffin top is spilling out over my tail. I don't share with you the times I'm wearing ripped sweatpants, sitting on the basement stairs and bawling my eyes out. I don't show you the whole picture. Would it surprise you to hear that I can't legally drive my own car? And that I still live at home? And by the way, there's more! I still get acne, I still get depressed, I don't have a boyfriend, I don't love my day-job, I'm not rich, I don't have the perfect body, I don't have a ton of friends and I don't have everything figured out. . I am far from perfect. And that is okay. We all are. So please, don't compare yourself to me or ANYONE that you see online. What you see isn't reality... but you already know that, because you only show certain parts of yourself too. 💜 . Continue to work towards being the best version of yourself that you can possibly be.
