im such a domestic dragon/leviathan for real. two of my kins swim in the ocean and i dont even like it that much. its sticky and scary and theres stuff that touches my feet and legs in there :((((((( i want a pool where the only things touching me are pooltoys and i can see the bottom. baby needs chlorine !!!! /silly

advice for a mermaid kin!

wear long skirts that remind you of your tail

spend lots of time in and around water

sing!! mermaids are known for singing, and you dont have to be good at it

wear accessories with seashells, scales, fishnets, and coins on them. these have always felt reminiscent of mermaids to me

listen to ocean noises, whale calls, and maybe even sea shanties

you can draw scales on your skin in marker, pen, or glitter pen, and marking color between your fingers looks like you have webbed hands! (first hand experience as a dragon)

eat seaweed, seafood, and things that remind you of what you ate in the ocean

making mood boards centered around my kintypes makes me feel more connected to them,

it’s like finding just the right pictures with the right colors i feel i would have, plus using moving images to make it more dynamic. it may not be exactly perfect matches, but the activity itself is very engaging and takes an hour or two to fully put together.

i consistently come on here sometimes just to look at the one for Serenity because of the moving images of mermaids swimming!

in the pool, with my mermaid tail there’s an area i like to sit and when it’s just the right time of day, looks exactly like one of those images i used in that moodboard. at least in my head, but seeing that one was like

🐚“omg! that’s my underwater room!”🐚

i’ve wanted to swim in much deeper pools, to use my mermaid tail to its full extent like those in the ocean. i can’t go to the pool without it, it’s a part of me. i can hold my breath for a long time and like to lay on the bottom of the deepest part and look up and do bubble tricks.
