2. Why would your fave never top or bottom for the Choose Violence ask game.

You went there. You chose violence, and I applaud you!!!

Okay! So today I’m gonna break down two of my fave boys that immediately came to mind. Teh from I Told Sunset About You, and Merlin from The Adventures of Merlin. Now, I do enjoy these characters immensely as being verse; but fandom does largely depict them as being top or bottom. Teh is usually a top, Merlin is usually a bottom (this information is relevant, trust me).

Propaganda: why they’re wrong

Teh is actually a bottom. Maybe not the first few times, because I can totally see him taking some time getting used to that aspect of his sexuality. But he’s the kind of guy who’s always working so hard, has his nose to the grindstone, feels like the weight of the world is on his shoulders. He’s so caught up in how the world expects him to be and behave, even if it’s all in his head. He can be so rigid and change scares him So Much. But when he’s finally able to be honest and vulnerable and let someone take care of him for a change?? Wooo, massive bottom life agenda. I honestly feel like people say he’s a top simply because his boyfriend is the biggest twink who has ever twinked. But I once wrote a fic about Teh getting fucked by said twink boyfriend. And I know Teh loved it. Bottom twunk Teh FTW!!

Merlin is (surprise surprise) a top. Now performative masculinity is Not his schtick: he’s a natural caretaker, wears his heart on his sleeve, inspires people he barely knows to feel safe enough to share their dreams and strife with him, he’s personable and warm. Like, sure, sometimes he can be a sassy emo twink, but at least he’s not repressed (just oppressed). If you need to escape a bad situation, his twin-size bed is always waiting for you. Is someone trying to harm a person he cares for; get ready for him to unleash his inner dragonlord, because he takes those caregiver traits very seriously. This man cooks, cleans, cries, writes letters to his mother, and Fucks. Guys, gals and non-binary pals are all in safe hands with Merlin (but also dragonlord, so he can be rough); but not to worry, the aftercare is impeccable. Oh, he does get pegged by Mithian; but that’s between them.

Five Fandoms and Five Ships

What can I say? I love the Grumpy/Sunshine dynamic to bits and these two sarcastic assholes just hit all the right buttons for me. They had such great chemistry on screen and there are so many good fics written about them that I'm always finding new faves to hoard. Still my current obsession and probably will be for a while, I never get tired of reading this pairing. Or writing it.

2. Zukka

I never watched ATLA as a kid, I only discovered it during Covid when Netflix added it, triggering the renaissance explosion on my Tumblr dashboard. I fell in love with all the characters and multiple ships, but this remains my absolute favorite. Sokka had my heart from the beginning and Zuko stole it during the Pouhai Stronghold episode, and I spent way too long binge reading their tag.

3. Cougar/Jensen

No one was more surprised than I was when I just latched onto The Losers, and these two assholes in particular just completely ruined my life for a while. I've lost count of how many times I watched the movie and I even went out and bought the graphic novels the movie was based on, and I am completely content to ignore how those ended in favor of the cute as shit ending the movie had. Also, I can't hear Don't Stop Believin' and not smile like an idiot anymore.

4. Tony Stark/Steve Rogers

...you know, I'm starting to sense a theme here. Hmm. Yeah, we're gonna ignore that for now. ANYWAY. I got hooked hard on these two after The Avengers movie came out and happily read all the team fics where everyone lived in Stark Tower and these two danced around each other before finally getting together. They aren't my only ships in this fandom but they are my top one out of them all.

5. Sam/Dean & J2

Supernatural has probably been my biggest fandom due to just how long I was in it while it was airing and because I participated in the fandom during it's hay day on Live Journal. Which was so wild, eye opening, and amazing. I even managed to save up and go to a convention and meet them, which I still regard as the best weekend of my life. I love both these pairings for different reasons and can't really separate them so they get their own spot together. Even though I haven't read any or rewatched the show in a long time, this fandom will always be my first home.

in general, yes! tbh it's been my dream for a long time to have someone throw me a surprise birthday party cause i feel like it would be so awesome. i think surprises can be such a fun way to show that you love and understand someone, but i also think it's super important to make sure that you're respecting people's boundaries when planning surprises. in reading fic, i always love a good plot twist, as long as it's not an untagged major character death or something massively triggering.

🥤: recommend an author or fanfic you love

i literally have over 1200 fics bookmarked so it's so hard for me to pick even a couple fics to recommend so i'm just gonna recommend some of my favorite authors. for thiam, my absolute favorite is @eneiryu, who writes the most beautiful incredible post canon fics i've ever read in my life and has written genuinely some of my favorite fics of all time. also for thiam, but with some really good merlin fics too, is @istalria. if you haven't read their thiam brainrot series, do it right now. @attempted--eloquence writes the most beautiful and poetic shit i've ever read in my life, i have in fact literally cried reading more than one of their fics. also thiam: @theoceanismyinkwell, @raekensarcher, @inabottlelikelightning, @chasing-chimeras, @honeyscapes, and @fallingforboys are all absolutely incredible. also to round out the rest of my most-read ships, for firstprince i 100% recommend @clottedcreamfudge, @kiwiana-writes, @hypnostheory, and @railmedaddy (who also writes amazing schitt's creek and 911LS stuff!) a recent fave of mine has also been @sighonaraa who writes the literal best ted lasso fics EVER

🍄: share a headcanon for one of your favorite ships

okay one of my main headcanons for thiam (obviously, since i literally wrote an entire fic about it) is that in the elevator scene, theo heard liam's heart skip when he said he wouldn't die for him, so he fully knew he was lying but didn't say anything because he knew it wasn't the right time. totally different ship, but i also headcanon that alex and henry get tattoos in each other's handwriting post canon, probably of their favorite lines from one of the emails or a line of poetry they both love as a way of reclaiming something that was stolen from them

there are many things that stayed with me from your fics and Ygraine is one of them. I didn't really give her much thought outside of 'even if it's full of love all the ghost can do is haunt' narrative, but the realization that you gave me that all the ghosts not only were but still are people. and even while haunting she STILL is a person... when I think about her watching arthur drown in guilt that isn't his and being so ANGRY I need 5-7 business days to recover no joke. she's one of my faves now THANK YOU

Oh my god thank you SO much, that's just about the best compliment you could have given me. I find Ygraine such a fascinating character on so many levels and she just has come to sneak into most of my Merlin fics in one way or another; frankly, I don't think you can really Get Arthur as a character without puzzling through his relationship (or rather lack thereof) with his mother.

Also I do need you to know that "even while haunting she STILL is a person" hit me like a sack of bricks. Like!!! YEAH!!!!!!! We talk about her always as Arthur's mother or Uther's wife or or or, but first and foremost she was a person!!! like!!!! aughhh

What are your five favorite fics that you have written?

Sorry I'm late on this, @rockinlibrarian, but in my defense I was on vacation when you tagged me.

I've probably answered a similar question before in ask games, but said answers are from a moment in time and this time is different so... Regardless, it's always hard to pick favorites.

Ghostwriter. This is probably one of my faves from my Rise of the Guardians Days. A little bit of hurt/comfort, a dash of mystery and a rescue. I love this because of how central books are in the story, and Jack's ability to turn daydreams into physical novels is something I will always wish for.

Support. My one and only Broadchurch fic, but I love this because it feels right in a way I don't often feel about a fic after a few years have past. It's a story where I'm proud of how I've written characters and stayed true to canon, completely with emotional constipation.

My Spiraling Self. This one might be a bit of a cheat, as it's a series and not a specific fic, but this The Umbrella Academy collection of Viktor character pieces is one I'm really proud of. Lots of angst and trauma and poetry, self-discovery and sacrifice and tears. Hard to pick a fav in the series.

Lotus Love. I adore Hanahaki fics, but this is the only one I've written. This Yugioh fic just sorta poured out of me, with the idea that Hanahaki is a curable disease that Yugi just...refuses to cure himself cuz loving Atem is such a core part of himself.

The Call of Gwen Pendragon. This is the second in the Add A Seat to the Table Series I've written for BBC Merlin, but 100% my favorite because it features Gwen kicking Merlin's poor self esteem aside and demanding he act as Arthur's equal. Especially cuz, in this universe, Gwen and Merlin served as rulers of Camelot for decades and so there's really no excuse to step back into Arthur's shadow in modern times.

ohhhh good question!!! ;__; i have a lot of headcanons for like... every series i get into ........ i'll list a few that are particularly near and dear to my heart....

immortal volo....... i had this hc since the game came out. maybe even before then. it's hard to remember. but it's probably because i'm influenced by the blanket of characters he's similar to in my mind....... it's a really cool hc and i've seen So many interpretations of it over the years. it's one i sincerely hope is true.

grima's sweet tooth which Isn't a headcanon anymore because feh confirmed it... thanks feh. but yeah he's very gap moe i stand by this forever and ever.

kieran has a shiny dusk lycanroc that he raised from a rockruff - it was his first pokemon. + he got to keep terapagos. these are the laws of the land. you just have to trust me...

astrals from gbf all have slightly pointy ears. one of those hcs that i always have to remember isn't real. Unfortunately.

merlin from fgo is blind. this one is simply because i am Blind and i love to throw that hc on my faves but this one is Very Special. i did write up some words on how it manifests here. :}

i'm a strong believer of manakete robin but that's because i have Extensive thoughts on robin equating grima but regardless i will forever say robin has Vague manakete traits.

Way Too Long to Put In One Post but my entire forneus backstory... which i honestly need to refine a bit more since it's Old (4 years. By The Gods)... tl;dr Guy who wanted his alchemy to save people got taken advantage of and he fell into depravity. also his hair was originally brown but it turned white due to stress + transmutation shenanigans....... and that Stuck with the fellblood lineage... if you had white in your hair Congrats you are a likely vessel... oh and this one is fun. he transmuted his own emotions to gain more knowledge. This guy is so normal but fire emblem will not tell you that. 👍

kind of a headcanon but kind of more of an allusion? but jr. + albedo xenosaga feel system-coded to me. with the way they were Once One and refer to each other as halves of the same self... Yeah. i wouldn't say they're a system canonically but i definitely feel it's easy to see that they can be a stand-in for dissociative stuff.

n pokemon's chosen Beast of Choice is reshiram. seeker of truth real. you heard it here first. but if i had to live in a perfect world he'd get both dragons... those are his Puppies

klaus xenoblade is from long island. is this one a joke? no one knows... but in all seriousness, i do believe morytha is somewhere in the northeast us. likely boston. route 90 you haunt me forever...

It's most of them. I always want a happy ending.

I don't think so. I did get some because I shipped  a couple where people couldn't get over the factor that the female character grew up. Sure she was 12 years old in Season 1, but by season 10? There's references of her in college.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've done it. Usually it's google translate or something that's used within the fandom. Lately, I just skip the translation and use italics with a note to indicate something being spoken in another language so the readers won't need to scroll to find the translations or I don't butcher the language. 

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Shit…that was 20+ years ago. I think it was probably Sailor Moon. Possibly DragonBall Z.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

One of my favorites…it's almost 10k of a WIP that I haven't even published yet. Angsty time loop Doctor Who fix where I make the Doctor and Donna relieve a certain day over and over again until he can "fix" the thing that went wrong.

okay I'll get to angel in a second but I feel like no one really talks about how BPD coded blitz is? He's actually quite relatable for me. He suffers from extreme self loathing, self destructive behaviour, unstable relationships, splitting, obsession with FPs (millie and moxie), impulsive spending, isolating himself, anger outbursts... and especially in apology tour (but also earlier episodes if you ever allow me to yap) we see how this pattern is something he isn't actively choosing and that he actually really wants to get away from. I know most of his character traits and behaviours are for the sake of comedy which is why making a deep character analysis is always a bit tricky in this case but I just think he is so bpd coded and I hope they give him a good healing/self discovery arc in the rest of the series.

angel dust - hazbin hotel

Okok let's talk about everyone's fave. Struggles with feeling of emptiness, low self esteem overcompensated by a sense a grandiosity, substance abuse issues, hypersexuality and not to mention increeeeedibly emotionally unstable (let's not forget how euphoria is also a common bpd experience, we not only see him miserable but I think accurate displays of euphoric episodes as well, as is the case for Blitz btw)

I was struck by how bpd coded this character was to me - I believe I was just figuring out that I have bpd when I was watching this show, so that might have had sth to do with it. She has this episode where she splits really hard on her friends and consequently isolates herself and. yeah. It's been a while since I watched it so I can't really point out other details rn but I remember thinking this so I reccommend you go watch this show and see for yourself.

blackbeard - our flag means death

Oof ok. I know season 2 was a MESS. I did not like it. But. However. That being said. The BPD representation is real. Do I love that there were basically no retrubitions for how Ed (blackbeard) treated the others during his split/episode? No. I don't love to see that. I wish he'd gotten some kind of genuine redemption arc with introspection and feelings of guilt and putting in the work to be better and all that. But yea. Season 2 sucked ass. Anyway him splitting on Stede (his FP) is so real and the subsequent borderline episode that follows is. Yeah. He has all the textbook symptoms (not only in season 2!!) impulisivity, unstability, extreme moodswings, no sense of self, mirroring, FP attachment, substance abuse issues and self destructive behaviours, paranoia/flashbacks, sewerslidality...

me when???when he???this representation means so much to me actually personally. !!! The paranoia, the anger issues, the self distructive behaviour, the intensely low self esteem, the flashbacks (ptsd babey), the hallucinations - Idk if they're hallucinations or just some kind of metaphorical liberty from the showwriters but I choose to hc how I choose to hc !! he also just! splits all the time!! He needs therapy so bad omg . This show is basically an anxiety attack with a few pauses so you can enjoy looking at the food ig

merlin and morgana - merlin

I feel like this is my least well defendable hc. Like I just relate and think that they kinda have BPD. But also if you said bitch where I wouldn't really be able to tell you. So yea. I feel like Merlin developed it throughout the later seasons and Morgana shows symptoms from the beginning. Both are just extremely traumatised and definitely have PTSD. So there's that.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

woof. there's so many to choose from, after all he is the main character. i do hold his sense of humour and his snarky remarks very near and dear to my heart, i love his stupid (affectionately) can-do attitude especially if it's highlighted with a joke, but if we're being honest here, my first thought was his love for nature. he is, of course, tied to nature in many ways but the pure protectiveness and adoration and childlike wonder he shows not just with the living, breathing world around him but through his magic too...it's very special to me.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

i think there was an ask game a while back with a similar question and i remember saying i would simply want to put him somewhere...less stressful, but still funny, so we discussed sitcoms. that point still stands, however, wouldn't it be fun to put him in, i don't know, doctor who? colin morgan was there for an ep and all that, but immortal merlin? as a companion? with a hidden agenda to maybe perhaps somehow find arthur? well. doesn't that just sound delightful.

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

again - many, many answers i could give, but since i've been on a anti-babying merlin wave, the first one i thought of was 'are you scared of me yet?' by daisy grenade (love this so SO much)

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

well. as you might've guess, i hate when he gets babied. he's not gonna break from one stiff glare by a stranger. and just to repeat what i've already said before - emotionality does not equal fragility etc etc

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

my guy merlin can literally be besties with anyone i swear, he's just so very lovable, isn't he. each of his friendships are special in their own little ways, but i'm gonna have to go with gwaine. they just get each other, if not like puzzle pieces then like two colours on the opposite sides of the colour wheel, yknow? either one and the same or fittingly matching. there's something about them together that really just...works, instantly. anyways, they're perfect, you understand.

I love that they were trying to get Meliodas to abandon his emotions to keep his rage in check and then when he actually has no emotions we find out that he’s straight up evil and much, MUCH worse than before lol

the tears pooling on their insanely pointy chins always gets me lol. but also mel just violently sobbing and then suddenly being fine. Mans has serious issues with repression that can def be drawn to his daddy issues

BAN/ZHIVAGO ARC😭😭😭 a few observations: Ban is very clearly influenced by Zhivago’s style, like the clothes are so similar, the fact that they sent Ban to Aberdeen prison and his favorite is Aberdeen ale makes me think he associates it with his dad, Zhivago was hot, Ban mirrors Zhivago’s words to him to Elaine, Zhivago tells Ban to never trust humans and the only humans he ends up trusting are Escanor and Jericho, zhivago has lived in misery about the deaths of his children for almost 40 years :(

there's also the idea of a character who is raised to believe something is wrong and evil and then slowly learning more and more about it, seeing past what they've been told their entire life as they see the truth for themselves, until they can free themselves from their prejudices and see it for what it truly is, as something that isn't bad nor good by itself but simply is that just,,, speaks to me on a personal level. which is why it hurt so bad when arthur died without being allowed to complete his character development arc.

LBAF IV & BTS:

Since I do this every time, here are some BTS facts about LBAF IV:

Ironically enough, the first scene I wrote is the last scene (David meeting Other Max)

David was initially supposed to be the Prince of Darkness. But then I had a 'vision' about Lance and I was like 'I like this better!' - It also helped me establish Dark Max.

As mentioned before, Camila was supposed to die. Rafael was going to name his daughter after her. But I changed it (thanks annie) and he named her after his first love and best friend.

I wanted Mallory to be a villain who fucked things up so monumentally that the trauma lasts for generations. Mission accomplished.

Mallory was also loosely inspired by a villain called 'Neelambari' in a tamil movie from the early 90s. It was my fave film as a kid and I was obsessed with this character. You can see peak Mallory vibes in this scene at 03.45 (she's the young girl in the purple sari) also max has rajinikanth vibes wtf.

I love the irony of the Clave rumor that Max has a mistress when in fact it is David who is with Other Max.

Cami and Theia parabatai was simply created (other than for plot reasons) because i really felt we needed more female parabatai in tsc.

Atlas and Theia are named in the same way all Blackthorns are - greek/roman history influence.

Theia means Goddess of Light (and she loves the Prince of Darkness) and yesh it was intentional.

Harry, who is a character we are yet to meet, is named after one of my closest friends.

In the original epilogue, we were supposed to get six povs of the six new kids - but i scrapped the whole thing and wrote a kincaid pov.

Kincaid means Head of the Battle or Battle Leader, meaning he is meant to lead the battle against PoD.

There are SO many hints in IALS that Lance is the PoD. I was so terrified one of you might figure it out lmao. Example 01:

Lance's fate was also hinted in DML when David reveals Lucifer is trying to hurt him.

There was a scene where Maryse talks to David and says 'The NY Institute has always been a place for rejects but it ended up being the place where we found the love we deserved'. It got deleted. (maybe in part 5?) It refers to the fact that Robert and Maryse (and Alec) ALSO got exiled from Idris after the Circle and were sent to the NY institute.

And yes Merlin was a gift from Leviathan to Arthur. Other Max looks after him in the future.

Kincaid originally had a black puppy called Bella and I changed it into a black horse. Because I felt Victoria and Kyl wouldn't approve of a cute puppy lol. The horse was also inspired by 'The Ebony Horse' from Arabian Knights.

The Idris Patrol uniform was very much inspired by the House Lannister armor/outfits from Game of Thrones.

David believes Lance is Nico reborn which is why he named Lance's middle name after him.

IALS was inspired by the 'what if' of what if David had left Max after finishing that letter and what if Max didn't know how to get the memories back. It's basically their story in the mundane world - where without magic to make things better everything is more complicated.

Joan's name is inspired by Joan of Arc (who both Liv and Lexi love)

The reason why Kincaid doesn't like Iris/Malik is that he feels he and Arthur were supposed to have the same story (childhood friends to lovers) but they couldn't.

And finally, Paradise Lost (the book David carries around in the entire fic) is about the story of Adam and Eve getting exiled from the Garden of Eden which was a metaphor for Mavid getting exiled from Idris.
