I’ve had so much fun learning more about Welsh lore, and hopefully you enjoy reading it 😊

King Arthur: did ya know the Arthur legend is Welsh?! I didn’t. I also didn’t know a bunch about this legend to begin with. Arthur’s story starts with Merlin, who (through different ways depending what version you read) obtains custody of baby Arthur and then gives him to another Lord (Hector) where he grows up alongside Hector’s son, Kay. Kay enters a tournament, but Arthur forget’s his brother’s sword. Luckily, he finds a sword in a stone, which he pulls out. This sword is NOT Excalibur, though it does mean he’s king! In a fight against other Lords who contest Arthur’s right to the throne, the sword breaks. Merlin helps Arthur win the fight and explains who he really is, and later takes Arthur to the Lady of the Lake who gives him Excalibur. Arthur becomes king, and marries Guinevere, getting a round table from her dad. He employs the best knights in the land. They go on fabulou quests, and Arthur is an amazing king who believes every voice is important and vows to set right any wrong brought before him. He remains an amazing king until his son, Mordred, exposes Guinevere and Lancelot are having an affair, and challenges Arthur for the throne. A Tale of Two Dragons: legend has it that in the hills of Snowdonia, an old king (Vortigern) was trying to build a castle but every night it would be destoyed. Sorceror’s advised him to find a child from the “other world” and the child was found: Merlin. He told the king that there were two dragons asleep by a lake in the hill. They found the dragons and drained the lake, and the dragons woke and fought each other. The white dragon fled and the red dragon quietly returned to its lair. Geraint and Enid: a story in the famous and very lengthy Mabiginion (look up the stories in this book. There are lots!! It’s really cool, I just chose one.) basically, rumors say that Geraint had lost his edge, and Enid (his wife) blames herself. But he is confused and think she means that she committed adultery.
