this continues to be an insane bit of dialogue and insane bit of foreshadowing that was truly expertly delivered. played him (me, humble listener) like a cheap whistle indeed. you’ll have to make the right choice (spoken during the season most focused on the concept of free will and whether or not it exists). just like old times. Meddison fic where they start as enemies always fighting over every thing, big or small, it doesn't really matter because they will fight for just about anything. Fortunately for them, people has learned not to pay attention to them or take the fight seriously, because despite the absurdity and frequency of their fight they know it's nothing too serious, that it's just them being Meredith and Addison. It starts like this until one day Addison got into an accident and she fell into a coma. When she wakes up, frantic and scared, she keeps asking everyone about why is she in the hospital, what happened to her and why is her girlfriend, who she doesn't remember has long died, is nowhere to be found. Derek, upon learning about Addison's situation, took it upon himself to care for his ex-bestfriend/ex-wife and tell the truth; her dead girlfriend, her marriage with him and how it went, and basically her life before this happened. When Derek finished explaining everything that's when the redhead let out the most heartbreaking sound everyone in that room has ever heard. What's even more shocking to everyone is how her supposed enemy is the one comforting her, taking her in a one one arm hug and cooing her.

Here, have a snippet of Meresino Train Controller AU that I wrote up while free-writing, before realising in the process of everything that happened at work this year that the story I actually wanted to tell would work better from Cullen's POV.

“Oh, they sent you.” Meredith’s tone sounded as acerbic to Orsino as usual, but he couldn’t ignore the way her face relaxed in palpable relief as he started setting up the signal panel.

“Good morning to you too,” Orsino answered with a too-wide smile. All things considered, if anybody had to be here while they were dealing with this threat, he was glad it was Meredith.

He just wished he didn’t have to talk to her, after.

“It’s not even 22:00,” Meredith complained.

Ah, Meredith. Always a pedant. Orsino chuckled to himself as he set down his thermos, pretending not to notice the way Meredith’s eyes narrowed: could she be baited into another screeching lecture about liquids in close proximity with vital signalling controls today? Only time would tell.

“Close enough,” he answered airily.  “Anyway, what’s the damage today?”

“The damage?” Meredith repeated incredulously. Her fingers twitched by her side like she was ready to throttle him, or at the very least throw her ruler in his direction as though it were a javelin. Typical train controllers, really. “The damage? You know as well as I do that if it’s not dragons melting down signal posts, it’s nugs nibbling on wires.”

“But they’re so cute with their little hands!” Orsino exclaimed, going so far as to make accompanying gestures with his own hands, limp-wristed and drawn in to his sides.

Meredith jumped to her feet, her ruler held aloft. Orsino ducked his head. “Which is it today?” he added, a genuine question: the limited view of the city’s network from the Gallows’ signal tower was indicative of severe congestion.

The ruler whizzed harmlessly by Orsino’s head, which made him grin. Meredith’s aim was usually far more accurate.

“Both!” Meredith exclaimed. “Dragons sighted by the Imperial Railroad, and nugs destroying cabling in the Undercity.”

Naturally. Orsino sighed. “No rest for the wicked,” he said by way of reply. (End of Year WIP meme)
