One of my new projects in 2024 is making cards to donate to my church's hospitality ministry. This is by far the busiest group in our church--always cooking and gathering and taking food/clothes/etc. to those in need. Sometimes it's a family who is trying to scrape by, sometimes it's an elderly church member who can't get out anymore. They were really happy with the idea of including handmade cards to include in their packages.

I ordered two rubber stamps from TheStampMaker.com to use for these cards. The drawing is a hand-drawn sketch done by a church member decades ago and I just made up the sentiment stamp. The real challenge is trying to include both in a card (though I certainly don't need the sketch stamp for every card design). So far this is what I have and I'm really enjoying it :)

Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. (Kairos) is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families.

The Kairos programs take the participants on a journey that demonstrates the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Kairos Prison Ministry is Christian in nature, although no religious affiliation is necessary to be a participant.

The programs involve a structured model that includes the weekend experience, followed by guests or participants gathering regularly for accountability, support, and prayer.

Kairos Prison Ministry is made up of three programs, which reach over 27,000 people annually: Kairos Inside, Kairos Outside, and Kairos Torch.

Kairos Inside brings positive and negative leaders together, in both male and female prisons, for a 3 ½ day weekend designed to start building the Christian community inside the institution.

Kairos Outside is a special weekend retreat designed to support the female relatives/friends of men and women who are or have been incarcerated, or women who were unable to attend Kairos Inside while in prison, followed by a continuing ministry.

Kairos Torch offers an initial weekend, followed by a long-term mentoring process that encourages young men and women to move towards making better life choices.

Kairos operates in prisons in 37 U.S. states, and 9 countries: Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Peru, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Volunteers conduct over 600 Weekends in prisons and communities annually in the U.S. and worldwide.

There are also over 100 prisons worldwide which want the Kairos program, but we don't have the volunteers or resources to accomodate them at this time.
