Continuing my review and summarization of Project 2025, Chapter 19 covers the Dept of Transportation.
1. Use private financing to construct infrastructure. In exchange for providing the financing, the private partner retains the right to operate the asset
2. Remove regulatory barriers by focusing on updating vehicle standards
3. One reason for the high numbers of injuries on American roadways is that national fuel economy standards raise the price of cars, disincentivizing people from purchasing newer, safer vehicles. NB: The primary causes of auto accidents are distracted driving, driving under the influence (40% of fatalities and costing $51 billion/year), and speeding which are likely to continue to occur even with new cars.
4. Remove Biden’s fuel economy requirements while blaming him for “hundreds of additional fatalities and thousands of additional injuries on U.S. highways” because people are driving old cars.
5. Get rid of DEI practices
6. Continue the four US airlines near monopoly on flight, stating it will reduce the price of air travel. NB: anyone who’s traveled recently knows all too well the high ticket prices and surcharges on baggage, and poor—if any—meals available in flight.
6. Decrease the flight hours required for copilots to be certified
7. Get rid of the Essential Air Service program that subsidized slights to 200 small airports that are not commercially viable.
8. Replace conventional control towers with high-resolution digital remote cameras
9. Unite the Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine in one department

Since 1964, National Maritime Day has been celebrated in India on April 5. Indian National Maritime Day is celebrated on April 5 because, on this date in 1919, SS Loyalty, the first Indian flag merchant ship, sailed from Mumbai to London⛵ . @teaminterval

We weren't straining any lines (Praise God) and that's when I noticed this MOUNTAIN of a ship directly in front of us, effectively shielding us from the wind lol!!! Eighty Years Ago, Today - (Thursday) February 11th, 1943: 11 miles south of Cape St. Francis, South Africa, U-516 (Type IXC) torpedoes and sinks the British steamer "SS Helmspey" (Photo 1). Tea, rubber, and precious manganese iron ore go with her to the bottom. Four men are killed, and a fifth dies after rescue, with 41 Survivors. Meanwhile, in the Mediterranean, 29 miles east of Protaras, Cyprus, U-81, a Type VIIC (Photo 2) wipes out a small flotilla of sailing vessels. With her deck gun, she sinks three in 20 minutes: "Al Kasbanah" (Egyptian), "Dolphin" (British Palestinian), and "Husni" (Lebanese). (Casualties unspecified) Shortly thereafter, she bags the Egyptian "Sabah el Kheir" as well. (Casualties unspecified). Day 24 - "Bar"
The Dragonsong War was over, ending a way of life for the people of Ishgard that had lasted a thousand years, but to many adventurers, there was still plenty to do. Whether it was aiding in reconstruction work, serving as pathfinders for the establishment of new trade routes through Dravania, or simple mercenary work in beastman suppression, their way of life was secure for at least a few more years.
It wasn't too long after Ishgard had opened its gates to outside adventurers that Jana joined the Machinists' Guild and learned how to load and fire Big Bertha cannons. Sure, there wasn't a pressing need to fire them against airborne dragons... But what if these cannons could be mounted to a ship? It was an idea she'd had after witnessing a clash between an Lominsan galley and several smaller Garlean airships; despite the obvious size and power differences, the powerful shipborne cannons on the galley had been unable to get the angle needed to hit the smaller airships when they were too close or directly overhead. Bertha cannons, made to defend walls from flying dragons, would not have the same issue.
These high-angle guns had another trick that Jana was working on. Firing shells at a high angle so they would plunge down onto the deck of a ship, instead of impacting it in the side, had the potential to do massive damage if it got around the armored hulls of many ships of the line. Plus, the technique could be combined with the air-bursting shells she'd developed to clear decks of their crew without dealing heavy damage to a prize vessel... Now Jana just needed the time to train a ship's crew to fire as she'd planned.
-
A certain Miqo'te who Jana both loved and loathed had managed to secure her a job as a cannon commander aboard an experimental magitek-powered and armored privateer. Now aboard the Iron Bitch (it was that other miqo'te's naming sense, and not at all Jana's), their task was to stop a massive Garlean airship from reaching an island of ceruleum drillers (the actual situation was much more politically complicated, but Jana hadn't bothered to learn all the details for this job). On their side were other privateers, affiliated with the Maelstrom or simple adventurers contracted for the job, and even Garlean defectors, including an experimental submersible (at least a couple cycles before they would be commonplace in the grubby hands of Eorzean Free Companies). Notably absent were the Maelstrom's main forces themselves - Those background politics had somehow led to their expected reinforcements being a no-show.
Whether it had been a mistake of their helmsman, skillful maneuvering by the Garleans, the lack of pressure on the airship from their absent reinforcements, or a bit of all of the above, she didn't know, but the Iron Bitch had found itself directly under the airship, staring right at the opening doors of their bomb bays. Some of the crew were already panicked, but Jana could only look at her longed-for death with glee in her eyes.
"Angle ninety-degrees! Keep firing!"
