Mercedes-Benz W 25 750-kg racing car in Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart . The W 25 was the original Silver Arrow. Originally painted white, it arrived at the NĂŒrburgring for its first race one kilogram too heavy for the 750-kg (1,650-pound) formula. The mechanics sanded down the paintwork in order to reduce its weight, exposing the bare, shining silver colour of its body. Suitably relieved, the team was able to line up at the start with the W 25. The car went on to win the race and later picked up its nickname Silver Arrow. Cylinders 8 Displacement 205 cu in Output 354 hp (260 kW) at engine speed 5800/min Top speed 175 mph Show quoted text #mercedes #mercedesbenz #mercedesracing #mercedesbenzw25 #mercedesformula #formula1 #mercedeslife #mercedeslifestyle #mercedesheritage #classiccars #classiccar #grandprix #traveling #travelgram #travel #enjoyinglife #carmuseum #museum #racecar #mercedesmuseum #f1 #formularacing #rarecars #luxury #historyracing #formulaone #photooftheday #history #carhistory #vintageracecar (at Mercedes-Benz Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/ConZqpjIQaY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

1978 Mercedes-Benz C111-III - Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart The C111 was a series of experimental automobiles produced by Mercedes-Benz in the 1960s and 1970s. The company was experimenting with new engine technologies, including Wankel engines, diesel engines, and turbochargers, and used the basic C111 platform as a testbed. Other experimental features included multi-link rear suspension, gull-wing doors and a luxurious interior with leather trim and air conditioning. The company decided not to adopt the Wankel engine and turned to diesel experiments for the second and third C111s. The C111-III was powered by a 170 kW (228 hp) at 4,500 rpm straight-five OM617 turbocharged diesel that broke nine diesel and gasoline speed records. With more aerodynamic bodywork that gave it an air drag coefficient of 0.191, the C111 eventually reached 322 km/h (200 mph) at the NardĂČ Ring in 1978, and averaged 16.0 liters/100 km at 316 km/h (14.7 mpg at 195.4 mph) over a 12-hour cruise. #mercedes #mercedesbenz #mercedesc111 #dieselengine #speedrecords #experimental #mercedeslife #mercedeslifestyle #mercedesheritage #classiccars #classiccar #racing #traveling #travelgram #travel #enjoyinglife #carmuseum #museum #raremercedes #mercedesmuseum #c111 #racingcars #rarecars #vintagecars #sportcars #supercars #photooftheday #history #carhistory #prototype (at Mercedes-Benz Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn-FMxToSp-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The car used a fiberglass body shell and with a mid-mounted three-rotor direct fuel injected Wankel engine. The next C111 appeared in 1970. It used a four-rotor engine producing 257 kW (350 hp). The car reportedly could reach a speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). #mercedes #mercedesbenz #mercedesc111 #fiberglass #conceptcars #experimental #mercedeslife #mercedeslifestyle #mercedesheritage #classiccars #classiccar #luxurycars #traveling #travelgram #travel #enjoyinglife #carmuseum #museum #raremercedes #mercedesmuseum #c111 #gullwing #rarecars #vintagecars #sportcars #supercars #photooftheday #luxury #carhistory #prototype (at Mercedes-Benz Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co2ttkgoGTY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Mercedes-Benz F 200 Imagination (1996) - Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart At the Paris Motor Show in October 1996, Mercedes-Benz presented an exciting, almost unimaginable concept of future motoring, the Mercedes-Benz F 200 Imagination. Today, many of the technologies presented in the concept car have long since become part of everyday life in production vehicles. This underlines the importance of researchers and developers constantly thinking ahead for tomorrowâs vehicles â continually redefining possibilities and boundaries. Almost incidentally, the F 200 Imagination showed what a large, modern coupĂ© could look like â it heralded key design features of the Mercedes-Benz CL, which made its debut in 1999. The original concept car can be viewed â it is on show in the âFascination of Technologyâ section of the Mercedes-Benz Museum. This section is accessible free of charge via the atrium. âComputers control the movements of a carâ, âelectronic systems replace mechanical linkagesâ, âoptimum driving safety in every situationâ: it was these and numerous other statements used in communicating the F 200 Imagination 25 years ago that caused quite a stir. Of course, the concept car itself caused a sensation. Its most evident feature was that it did not have a steering wheel. The driver controlled it with the help of sidesticks and could choose whether to use the right or left hand. One of the sidesticks was mounted in the door panel and the second one on the centre console. In addition, the front passenger could take over at any time, because a third sidestick was located in the trim of the right door. #mercedes #mercedesbenz #mercedesbenzf200 #mercedesconcept #imagination #designstudy #mercedeslife #mercedeslifestyle #mercedesheritage #classiccars #classiccar #conceptcar #traveling #travelgram #travel #enjoyinglife #carmuseum #museum #raremercedes #mercedesmuseum #luxury #newtechnology #rarecar #concept #grandtourer #luxuryvehicle #photooftheday #luxurycars #carhistory #coupe (at Mercedes-Benz Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co0P8gpIwYp/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

2001 Mercedes-Benz F 400 Carving research vehicle in Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart Active camber control and asymmetric tyres provide additional safety and driving dynamics âDrive by wireâ for steering and brakes Xenon headlamps, LED turn indicators and use of new materials Stuttgart. As a constant innovator of automotive engineering, Mercedes-Benz sometimes takes unconventional paths. One example is the F 400 Carving research vehicle, which the brand presented at the Tokyo Motor Show (14 October to 7 November 2001) in October 2001, 20 years ago. It features many future-orientated systems, amongst which the active camber adjustment of the wheels is the main attraction: The vehicle appears to lean into the curve â in a way similar to a winter athlete on carving skis. Today, the F 400 Carving can be seen at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in the âFascination of Technologyâ section. #mercedes #mercedesbenz #mercedesbenzf400 #mercedesconcept #carving #designstudy #mercedeslife #mercedeslifestyle #mercedesheritage #classiccars #abc #conceptcar #traveling #travelgram #travel #enjoyinglife #carmuseum #museum #raremercedes #mercedesmuseum #f400 #newtechnology #rarecars #research #sportcars #drivebywire #photooftheday #history #carhistory #roadster (at Mercedes-Benz Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoxnpJYoJgW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Mercedes-Benz T 80 world record car in Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart Designed by Ferdinand Porsche, powered by the DB 603 aero engine and developing 3,000 hp: The T 80 was to become the worldâs fastest car on four wheels and reach a speed of 373 mph on the motorway near Dessau in early 1940. However, the outbreak of World War II prevented the car from being completed, and the T 80 never hit the road. 23 PS Daimler Phoenix racing car in Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart The 23 PS Phoenix was Daimlerâs most powerful racing car in 1900. Its high centre of gravity, heavy 660-pound engine and short wheelbase â which was extended for the variant shown here â made it difficult to control. Following a serious accident in the Nice â La Turbie race in March 1900, Wilhelm Maybach set about building a new racing car: the first Mercedes.
