hey slay queens, kings, and other royalties this is not my first fic ever but this is my first cross-posted ao3 fic! read it here<3

I couldn't help but explore the dynamics between my team (esp Shenhe and Ayato!) and mixing that with the trend on tiktok ab ur genshin team sleeping together so... why not!

also fair warning, I impluse wrote this at 11pm and tried to make it as pretty and poetic as possible so pls dont judge too hard LMFAOOOO p.s.: the implied isnt rlly like a... thing. can b romantic or platonic idc.

A moonlit night shines upon the inside of the teapot, a wanderer and the face of a clan already asleep; they've kept each other close, sharing their bodies' warmth. A hand brushes over the blonde wanderers face, brushing back the strands of hair that cover their dozy eyes. The blonde shifts ever so slightly, closer to the other as the hand retracts, almost frightened about what it had done.

"Shenhe?"

A voice beconds from the doorway, the eyes of the commissioner locked onto the woman standing before the others as he continues forth. 

"...What are you doing?"

The hand of Shenhe clenches at their newly acquired "tee-shirt", her eyes stuck on the two slumbering bodies. "Merely observing." The words crumble from her lips, her muted words hitting the commissioner, Kamisato Ayato, easily. "I see." Is his only response. He soundlessly shuts the door, his eyes going from the two to Shenhe.

"Is there a particular reason for your observation?" Ayato asks, his eyes drawn to his sister, the face of his clan; and his friend, the wanderer. Shenhe shifts slightly, her hand shaky as they reach for the sheets. They tenderly pull it up over the other two, leaning in before they release the covering. "...I've never seen mortals sleep."

"Oh really?"

"...Yes. I… They look so... peaceful; maybe I should sleep on the floor…?"

Her words are poised like a factual question, but Ayato has seen this type of thing a thousand times. It wasn't fact, or logic, or anything of the sort. It was feeling. The blossom of expression that Ayato couldn't help but admire from this woman.

"No, don't." His words are effortless, but they pierce through Shenhe like her own polearm. They stand there silently, as if... nothing had been said at all. "...But my-" "Aren't you tired?" He'd soon find that her expression had intensified, her brows furrowed as she held the ropes around her wrists. She stayed silent, Ayato soon turning to tuck himself in before…

"I'm cursed, yet you don't care?"

Her words ring out to him, his eyes slowly dawning back to the taller woman as he comments, "No, should you?"

Her hands are trembling, the expression on her face unwavering as they stare down at their painted nails. They couldn't speak, they couldn't find the words to describe the emotions soaring through their head as Ayato slowly caressed her hand.

"You have nothing to fear, one night isn't going to hurt us."

Shenhe looks back to the commissioner, her mind surging with thoughts before muttering, "I warned you."

Their hand slips away from his, slowly lifting the abundant cotton covering and slipping under it next to the wanderer. Their back is turned to the hydro-vision man, staring at the other two as the wanderer sleepily brings Shenhe closer. Her hands feel frigid compared to the others, and they can't help but think about the calamity they'd bring to the others. That is until they feel the commissioners body press against their back, his arms wrapped around their waist as he rests his head on her shoulder.

"Isn't this a little close for your comfort, Ayato?"

The blue-haired man chuckles, smiling as he replies, "Maybe… but I don't mind." His breath tickles her neck, but they don't react at all. They try to just… relax. Almost as if meditating within the strange comfort of everyone's touch. But oddly enough… they feel the commissioners cheeks still pressed again their skin, grinning.

"Ayato?"

"Yes?"

"...Why are you smiling?"

The smile falters, the exorcist can sense it. But now… his eyes link to her again. His lips only slightly parted before he whispers, "...This is nice. I'm happy I've gotten to experience this with you."

The exorcists hands now rest upon his arms, eyes slowly shutting as they finally whisper back,

"...Me too. Thank you."

Just a quick note that I've got a new theme up! <3 Was kindda time for a refresh, among other reasons, so @yoroiis and I spent a couple days working out a new look! Everything is still how it was for links, and in the next day or two I should have Ayaka's temp about up, too - Some things came up, including the loss of our other dog, so being productive lately has been... Kind of difficult and made this the first real project I've been able to focus on in days that wasn't simple edits over on @sakurarisen and my multi-blog-wide lore. If there's any issues with the theme, feel free to hit up my inbox and let me know so I can get them fixed! <3

Hope You Don't Mind - Ayato

Author Notes: I did it! My first Inazuma boy! Ayato was kind of interesting write since I was both nervous and excited about writing him. As such I cheated a wee bit and used one of his voicelines to help me along. I actually wrote this before his gacha but it still needed editing so it wasn't ready till now. As per usual, reader is gender-neutral. I hope you all enjoy.

Type: Flirty/fluff

"Someone looks happy," My amused remark was met with Ayato's turning. The young man was initially wide-eyed until he spotted me standing in the rock garden that covered a sizable portion of the walled section of the Kamisato estate.

As soon as our eyes met, he recovered from his initial surprise, an easy smile sweeping across his face as he started my way, “Y/n.”

I smiled slightly as he acknowledged my presence and realized that he didn’t actually seem that surprised to see me. In fact, it was more like he’d been prepared for my visit but hadn’t expected for me to call out to him or hadn’t realized I’d arrived.

But then Ayato was nothing if not prepared for almost every little detail, and that included knowing when anyone was coming to visit him, his sister, or even Thoma.  It was simply the way he was: always ready for any little thing that might crop up, be it problematic or pleasant.

Ayato’s smile was nothing if not smug as he stopped in front of me and began to explain the self-content he currently exuded, “I have to stifle a smile every time I remember the look on my retainers' faces when I informed them of my plans today…. Panic-stricken, but unable to muster the courage to say anything in opposition. Yes, this was a fine idea.”

I snorted at his words, unsurprised but feeling a small amount of pity for the people who worked under Ayato. After all, he was ever the troublemaker and was possibly even on par with Yae Miko when it came to being mischievous.

I shook my head though, chuckling slightly at Ayato’s all-too-pleased expression before tilting my head to the side, “And what are you planning on doing today?”

At my question he grinned before crossing his arms, “Why, spending time taking my favorite person around town.”

His words caught me off guard, but I smiled, immediately thinking of how thrilled Ayaka must be. She needed the day off just as much as he did and she adored her older brother. It explained his smug smile too since Ayato did adore spoiling his little sister whenever he was able to.

Simply put, he doted on her but was often too busy to spend any time with her. The same could be said for Ayaka. The two Kamisato siblings kept themselves busy. Too busy to have any time for frivolities such as shopping or simply just hanging out.

That said…. I was sure that the fact his retainers probably were losing their minds thinking about how much work Ayato no doubt had to do probably added to his self-satisfied mood too. He did adore toying with people on occasion.

I would simply have to put off visiting Ayaka. She probably hadn’t known about Ayato’s plans for the two of them and would no doubt feel awful since she’d invited me. 

Truthfully, I didn’t mind. I enjoyed spending time with her, but I mainly came because I was afraid she’d be lonely.  I could spend the day doing something else. I might even help Thoma out with some of his work.

 Ayaka would, without a doubt, prefer spending time with Ayato than with me and she wouldn’t be lonely. It would be good for both of the Kamisato siblings.

“So what do you want to do?”  Ayato had spoken just as I was getting ready to go tell Ayaka to have fun and not worry about a thing. I frowned almost immediately as his words hit me and I turned to look in confusion at the  amused-looking young man.

He chuckled, purple eyes sparkling as he tilted his head like a playful cat, “Oh? Did you think I meant someone else?” Amusement was practically dripping from his tone, but I could barely from gawking at him as the meaning of his words hit me.

Me. He was planning on taking me around town today. Which meant…. 

“But I thought….. What about Ayaka…?” I spoke haltingly, betraying my muddled thoughts and making him grin outright. “My sister invited you so that this would be a nice little surprise for you. Her dear friend and my favorite person,” As he explained, he made a special effort to emphasize the word ‘favorite.’

As if his teasing tone weren’t bad enough, he casually took my hand and looped it through his arm. Placing it on his elbow and patting it in a distinctly affectionate manner all while grinning at me smugly, “Ayaka was a good guess though, my dear. I am quite fond of my sister.”

With those words he started off, tugging me along with him and grinning all the while as he continued, “But let us be off. If you don’t know what you want to do we’ll simply have to tour the entire town and that will take a while.”

He leaned in close, his voice dropping in pitch as he held my gaze with glimmering eyes that spoke of mischievousness, “I do hope you don’t mind?”

I'm excited to read about how you portray thoma because in game he gives such a wholesome vibe and i feel like we forget the part where he bribed our way into inazuma with pretty words or the fact that he is ayato's most trusted which implies he might have done some unsavoury things under his command. Wanna see you dissect all the layers his has with your amazing writting

aw anon thank you so much!!!! and i COMPLETELY agree with you. he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, 100%. he knows exactly how to smooth talk his way out of any and all situations, using just his sharp tongue as his weapon and leaving no physical casualties. he’s a master at subtly but effectively manipulating you in a way that leaves you feeling kinda weird and confused—like what just happened? are we good friends, or did i just get threatened? i feel like whenever thoma deals with those ‘special matters discreetly’ he leaves whoever’s on the other side of the conversation feeling almost unsettled, because the look in his eyes does not match the tone of his words. there is something off, odd, not exactly right here, but it’s so difficult to put your finger on it because he’s so fucking good at masking it, painting poison with a sparkling glaze of stunning varnish and presenting it tangled in a satin bow, simultaneously sticky sweet and bitter.

i genuinely believe he learned how to hone and refine this natural inclination/knack he has for shmoozery from both ayato and ayaka, who also seem to know exactly how to get others to do what they want with thinly veiled threats wrapped up in nice, charming, kind words and friendly tones.
