Malleus: …Hm, so, these were the topics broached during today's Housewarden meeting, I see.

Malleus: There are quite a few points that should be relayed to the students under my care. I thank you for the information, Schoenheit.

Vil: Enough with your "I thank you." It's enough of a hassle to be forced to deliver the meeting minutes simply because we're both in the same year.

Malleus: I do have every intention of attending the meetings. However, it is only when the small rectangle is broken that those machinated sentences are sent to me.

Vil: Based on context, I assume that's supposed to be his phone and emails… Does he break his phone often?

Vil: At any rate, I'm just glad I was able to find you quickly. It would have been terrible If I had to go all the way to Diasomnia.

Malleus: I agree. My fellow dorm mates are quite busy today. They may not have had the time to entertain guests.

Vil: Busy? With what?

Malleus: Tomorrow is my birthday. Everyone is putting forth the effort for after-school party preparations.

Malleus: It seems they've been doing various preparations, from decorating the party venue to arranging the dishes to be served. I'm sure it will be quite a party.

Vil: I see… I'm actually a little surprised that you're this giddy over your own birthday.

Malleus: Giddy…? Heh, perhaps.

Vil: Well, I do hope you're able to attend your birthday party. And make sure to fix your phone, at least.

[Vil leaves]

Malleus: I think I will head back to the dormitory, as well. I should relay the information to the other dorm students.

[Hall of Mirrors]

Malleus: I've scoured every inch of this academy's campus…

Malleus: And as I thought, there are no other run-down buildings similar to Ramshackle.

Malleus: I used to enjoy strolling its grounds at night... Oh, well. There are plenty of buildings.

Malleus: If I simply wait 100 years or so, they should be in peak condition then. I'll simply look forward to that moment and head back to the dormitory for now.

Malleus: There are times that such common knowledge to humans is a brand new discovery for me.

Malleus: Because there are these occasional surprises, I find my time studying here at this academy to be actually worthwhile. …Do you not agree?

Malleus: The Headmage once cautioned me to not keep so many gargoyles in my room, as the floor would cave in…

Malleus: However, the issue at hand here is the durability of the dormitory room floors. There is no reason I should have been the one scolded about it.

Malleus: There are many gargoyles all over this campus that is in need of serious repair.

Malleus: It is arduous enough to bring them to my room to repair them and transport them all the way back to their rightful place… And yet he rudely states that it wasn't even asked of me to do.

Malleus: "I urgently request the floors be reinforced. Be sure to improve the durability so as to be capable of holding as much as 50 gargoyles."

Malleus: This should be good enough. Now… I think I will welcome in a little night breeze.

Malleus: Ah, there are no clouds in the heavens tonight. The stars shine so brilliantly.

Malleus: When I first came to this academy, I was astounded by how differently the stars could be seen.

Malleus: In Briar Valley, both the town and the castle were lit all through the night.

Malleus: However, when the sun goes down here, most of the light disappears and it seems as though the stars shine brighter.

Malleus: I find it fascinating that despite it being the same night sky, the different environment lends to a different view.

Malleus: Even if there is no light, the stars are bright enough to see by. I think I shall spend the rest of the evening right here.

Malleus: …The skies are lightening. I was so caught up that I completely neglected the time.

Malleus: Despite the time spent here, I still feel at ease at night. It is rather difficult to adjust my schedule to those who do not thrive in the nighttime as I do.

Malleus: I suppose that is also part of the learning experience. I should try to sleep soon.

Malleus: If I am unable to get enough rest, it will affect both my classwork, and the party being held after school.

Malleus: Mm… Time to get up already, hm.

Malleus: Mmhh… Hah. It is still strange to awaken to daylight.

Malleus: If I recall, it was not long after I was finally capable of taking on my human form… Heh, that brought back some nostalgic memories.

Malleus: Now, next I should… Ah, yes, Lilia was saying something about how the birthday boy should dress more lavishly.

Malleus: It may be unbecoming of me to wear my makeup as I normally do. I should select the colors I want to wear while I'm at it. First, my lips…

Malleus: How about red? This noble shade is said to be the color the Thorn Fairy would wear to celebrations… But could this be a little too garish?

Malleus: Purple, perhaps? Lip brush, paint mine lips the color of dark purple… Ah, yes, this is the perfect shade.

Malleus: However, thinking it over, wouldn't black be a more suitable color for a celebratory occasion, as it is the norm in Briar Valley currently?

Malleus: How vexing. Then, what if I were to mix the colors… Like this?

Malleus: Aah, a good shade, as I thought. I think I will wear this color to the after-school party.

Malleus: As long as I prepare ahead of time like this, I should not be late at all. I'm sure I'll make it in time for the party, as well.

Vil: What was that sudden gust…? Wait, Malleus?

Vil: Stop right there, it's dangerous to fly that fast! What if you hit something and cause an injury!?

Malleus: Ah, Schoenheit. Apologies, I was not watching where I was going.

Vil: Why were you in such a… Oh? Right, weren't you saying today was your birthday?

Vil: Weren't you throwing a party? What are you doing here?

Malleus: I am heading there now.

Malleus: While the party preparations were in its final stages, I was thinking of what would be the best makeup to wear today.

Malleus: They said they would alert me once the preparations were completed, however I found myself so engrossed that I did not notice their messages.

Malleus: This darn thing even sends notifications without a single sound for what should be important information. I absolutely cannot trust that small rectangle.

Vil: Notifications without a single sound…?

Vil: …Do you not know how to turn your phone off silent mode?

Malleus: What do you mean by silent mode?

Vil: …Ugghh… Fine, hand me your phone. I will turn the sound on.

Malleus: Is that alright? But…

Vil: If you're late to any meeting from here on out, I absolutely will not stand for it. And there is no need to worry, this won't take more than a couple minutes.

Vil: I'm sure you'll still make it on time to your party. Consider this my birthday present to you.

Malleus: Mm, you're right. I appreciate your gift.

A little continuation of this post

Malleus who learned how to purr from Lilia visits and babysits baby Silver.

Lilia comes home and overhears the two of them.

“Silver hair, you need to go ‘rrrr’”

Lilia is stunned to hear a sound he hasn’t heard in decades. What surprises him further is the response he hears.

“Babrrrr”

Malleus’ laugh vibrates the area, “A little less drool next time, but you got it down.”

“Malleus? What are you doing?”

“Ah Lilia, you’ve returned. I was teaching Silver how to purr.”

“Hm~ Why so?”

“Grandmother said it’s family tradition for babies to learn. Silver is family and he must learn as well.”

That Maleficia-

Lilia sighed.

He stares tenderly as Malleus continues to teach Silver how to purr. Spit and drool splattering on them both.

Family tradition.

His boys.

His family.

He’s happy.

He can deal with his family learning to purr from him.

It was cute.

I always though Mal's mom was meant to be like "Eleanor" but they stuck an M at the start honestly, Sobbing Emoji. But "Maleanor" also makes me feel less insane since in that scene where she's just handed egg Malleus to Lilia and went to battle, it sounds more like Lilia is saying "Maleanor" than "Meleanor" (Japanese accent pending). Mayhaps they went more with what it sounded like the characters were saying :0 (we don't talk about Doodle Suit to Paint The Roses)

the transliteration of her name is Marenoa (マレノア), which is what all the voice lines are saying! all the Draconias' names start with マレ (Malleus' grandma is Maleficia/マレフィシア) as a nod to Maleficent. :D it's almost certainly a take on Eleanor, which is Erenoa (エレノア), but her name is written in English at a couple points, and I was pretty surprised to see it was Mel instead of Mal!

and, like, that's fine, it wouldn't be first Twst romanization that's tripped me up (like Keito for Cater, I know that's something to do with the loanword specific to playing cards(?) but it's just not how my brain wants to read it). but now Eng has given us Maleanor! and someone else said it was spelled inconsistently between Maleanor and Maeleanor??????? so WHO KNOWS it's a SPELLING FREE-FOR-ALL

I AM torn on which I want to use, because Mel just sounds so cute to me (and is what I'm used to now), but...the Mal consistency is kinda too good to pass up. alas, alas, truly these are the most difficult conundrums of our times. 😔

I would like to remind everyone of a simple fact:

Maleanor would rather leave her son with Lilia than her own mother. She literally said that Lilia should hatch him. Didn't even mention a letter of her mother's name.

And Malleus' egg, who should hatch from love, never hatched a single crack in Maleficia's embrace.

I want to give her the benefit of the doubt. I really do. Malleus and Maleanor were so full of love, so it should be common sense that Maleficia would too.

But... The mind is weak and love runs out. She must have grown tired when her husband passed, and she must have died when her daughter did.

Her love must've run out a long time ago.

a/n: wrote this while in a boring family function lmfaoo (maybe leona is next on the list)

malleus didn't expect that the one creature who would took his heart is none other than (m/c) themselves. if the princess of briar valley is alive along with her own husband, malleus would say that the both of them would be in a state of shock; skeptical even that their own son would chose a magicless human as his lover. his own mother would disapprove of you but for the sake of her son's happiness, she would accept you.

his grandmother on the other hand, is on the same page as her deceased daughter but over the course of time, maleficia saw you as her own and accepted you into the family.

he is also the type of fae who is deeply in love with them so much that he could get mad if someone would bad-mouthed them. malleus also remembered on how he confided into his caretaker, lilia, regarding his feelings for you. a romantic feeling to be percise. upon seeing and realizing on how malleus's eyes enlightened whenever he talks about you for months, lilia is delighted and excited to hear that malleus finally found true love on his own. he even encourages him to court you the way his own kind does.

when he does court you, he is surprised to see that you accepted his gifts but quite oblivious on what he's indicating. for you, these gifts are his way to thanking you for being his friend but for the prince, it's his way of saying that he's in love with you and wants your hand to be his significant other. this excruciating shenanigan went on for months until sebek had to intervene through a letter.

the student even pointed out that malleus is deeply in love with the prefect and couldn't shake off on how solemn his face looks after giving you another trinket but didn't say anything other than "thanks", thinking that you rejected his own feelings for you.

you felt really bad and immediately ran towards the diasomnia dorm just to apologize to the headwarden, mistaking his gifts as simple souvenirs and reminded him that this is the first time a fae courted you without actually knowing it. malleus also apologizes that you didn't know these acts of courtship because of you being a human and are unfamiliar of the said acts.

for your first date (you introduced that concept to your fae boyfriend), malleus invited you to sightseeing gargoyles in different locations within the school. malleus isn't used to explaining gargoyles and dragons to someone due to the latter's lack of interest but to you, you listened tentively and stared into his eyes as he introduced you to different statues. you didn't know a thing about statues but seeing how malleus explained each and every single statue puts you in a trance on how handsome he looks.

if (m/c) is the type of person who loves whole cakes, malleus would be amazed on how you ate lots and lots of cakes and not having heartburns nor a stomach ache. malleus knows that he despised those pastries due to an incident that took place sometime in his life. for him, (m/c) is known to be a sweet tooth and takes notes that he could give you cakes and sweets from his kingdom if you plan on visiting.

over the course of him dating you, this guy would occasionally scare you to bits by surprising you; malleus appearing in front of you out of nowhere, hanging upside down and surprising you (like how lilia does) and even hugging you from behind. he likes it on how skittish you are and the way you hit his arm as he laughs at you. he would apologize to you if he scared you to an extent or making you uncomfortable due to his antics.

he's also the one who gave you your first kiss. during one of your walks, you mentioned that you dated for quite sometime but didn't receive any kisses from him. at first, malleus thinks that giving you cheek kisses are enough but you murmured that you haven't got your first kiss on the lips. unfortunately, he heard the said plea and asked you if you really wanted that kissed.

you nodded and puckered your lips, preparing for his lips of touch yours when all of the sudden, he dips you down and kisses you. you were surprised, yes, but quickly melted into the kiss as you placed both of your hands into his face. malleus really likethe way you hid your face with your hands and the said kiss. he didn't say anything but placed a chaste kiss on your forehead as you recovered from the surprise kiss your boyfriend gave you.

Wish we knew more about Silver’s bio family. Questions about Maleanor still have potential to be answered, but there’s not much hope that we’ll get anything about Dawn Knight or Leah. I get that they’re meant to be forgotten but still wish we knew more. Might’ve missed something but do either of them have magic? We barely know a thing about Leah and it would’ve been nice to know KOD’s name. Why was KOD blessed by those fairies? Are those fairies still alive? What was Leah doing during the war? B

I think there’s always more potential to expand on the characters’ family members in future content, even if it’s just a brief moment or a throwaway line. That includes Maleanor, the Dawn Knight, and Leah! Silver’s noble family might be mentioned in a textbook or in one of Lilia’s stories, or maybe we’ll get an event where we visit the place where his kingdom used to be. However, since the narrative seems to really lean into him finding his family in Lilia, we may not hear many more specifics on Silver’s biological family.

While it’s not explicitly stated, I assume that neither the Dawn Knight or Leah are mages. They live in a time period where mages are seemingly discriminated against. (Maleanor is called the derogatory phrase “witch” but, confusingly, the Silver Owls have their own battle mages.) Secondly, I find it odd that the Dawn Knight wouldn’t use magic in combat if he was capable of it. His sword seems to fire lasers, but it seems to be enchanted rather than him casting a spell.

I’m also assuming that Leah was likely holed up in a castle back home and waiting for the Dawn Knight to return? Lilia mentions that human princesses may be dainty and in need of rescuing, but his princess isn’t anything like that; Maleanor is strong-willed and perfectly capable of defending herself. I’m guessing that Leah is Maleanor’s opposite then. More demure and stereotypically “princess in a tower”/“damsel in distress”.

Heinrick also mentions that their father is sick with an incurable illness (hence why they want Maleanor’s powerful magestone, the Princess Glow/Majestic Ember). He also states that Leah prays everyday for their father to heal. It’s possible that she stayed behind to look after their ailing father, the king, while the men went off to war. This would be supported by the earlier suggestion that Leah is Maleanor’s opposite, and thus not able to contribute in combat. It therefore makes more sense for Leah to stay back home.

I’d be interested in learning why those three guardian fairies sided with the Silver Owls in the war 🤔 I’ve seen people suggesting it’s because they, too, dislike the nocturnal fae (since diurnal and nocturnal fae have historically not gotten along), but I don’t think that’s why?? We see several pixies (classified as diurnal fae) whose lands were ravaged in Briarland battle maps. Surely they must have known about the tensions between fae and humans…? Did they have some reason to be loyal to a human kingdom or to protect the Dawn Knight? We don’t know what the life spans of these guardian fae look like either (while Baur and Maleficia are still alive and well); it would be wild if we met them sometime.

Lilia Facts Part 18: Forgetfulness and More

Lilia says he’s seen everything but has forgotten most of it, and Silver seems to suspect that Lilia has a poor memory.

After sharing something Lilia once said to him with Silver follows with “I still carry those words in my heart, though I'm pretty sure he's forgotten he ever said that.”

He also forgets if he has—or has ever had—a driver’s license. Kalim responds, “You sure can be forgetful sometimes.”

Lilia also seems to forget what club he is a member of at one point, and we see him forget herbs he needs for a lab exercise (“My memory's slipping in my old age...Dear me!”)

Lilia says that he “can more or less recall everything that's happened these past five hundred years,” but follows with, “Though it all fades away in the end, leaving me to wonder what part was a dream and what was reality.”

In another vignette Lilia tells another story, this time to Jamil, about cowardly king who is being misrepresented in their textbooks as a hero.

Lilia explains, "I suppose there's no guarantee that the information that gets passed down is correct...Someone takes some action, something happens, and then someone else comes along and interprets it for the world. Different people's thoughts all get tangled up together into one thing. That's what makes history so interesting."

Lilia says that he has forgotten his birthday, but as he was potentially taken in by Maleficia Draconia as an infant it is possible that he never knew it at all (this is still unconfirmed).

There is a common theme of Lilia being described as “elusive”: by himself, by Malleus and by Leona.

There are at least two instances of Lilia comparing eyes to jewels: his own during Wish Upon a Star, and Silver’s in the main story.

Lilia does not require a broom for flight, which seems to be unusual: Jack asks how he is going to fly without a broom during the Stitch event and Ace marvels at someone being able to fly so easily without tools.

Lilia explains that, on the contrary, when one reaches his level of magical proficiency incorporating tools becomes more of a burden than anything.

Lilia has a voice line of, “Think to yourself, ‘I want to fly,’ and you will.”

There will occasionally be references to Lilia’s lower back causing him pain: he mentions it himself during Phantom Bride, Silver has a similar comment during Glorious Masquerade and his sprites will move as if his lower back is hurting him during battles.

Wait this is actually interesting, so from what the story implies, Wild Rose Castle is weaker than Black Scale Castle because it probably has no magical atmosphere that serves as its defense, there's probably fewer troops here, and the fact that its just on a clear meadow makes the terrain not suitable for defenses unlike Black Scale who is atop a mountain and covered in a Valley.

So I kinda think that Wild Rose Castle is a newly built castle in Briarland. After all, Meleanor was a kid only 200 years ago so Wild Briar is probably that age as well (or more), i think that age is young (compared to Black Scale which probably several centuries old?) thats why it has weaker defense facilities.

Maybe Wild Briar is older as Black Scale, but this game says this is Meleanor's castle so I assume she's the one who had built this.

But I have this HC that this castle is actually built because of Levan. For his diplomatic mission between humans. Building a castle in an easy terrain would make sense to make it easier for magicless humans to transport in. Because I don't really expect(?) Maleanor who is a military commander, which she probably has knowledge of strategies, to not see how disadvantegous this location is considering its close to humans

But I also think Wild Briar was built as like a refuge for the faes that live far away outside Dragon City(I wont call it dragonopolis lol)

Wild Rose being a few centuries old also kinda makes sense since the Silver Owls only recognize Meleanor as the only ruler in Briarland, they probably arent aware theres a queen named Maleficia because she's ancient(?) atleast I didnt caught any silver owls mentioning her iirc(?) They went to the mountains near Dragon city yes-- but like it was to pursue General Lilia and not to besiege Black Scale as well even they kinda had the potential to do so since they took down Maleanor and Silver Owls' is implied to be very greedy--

I actually think its more interesting to not summarize Maleanor's cause of death as just her overestimating her win against Knight of Dawn-- I actually think its because of several reasons such as:

"Wrong time" in working out the diplomatic relations between the conflict between humans and faes, Levan's plan to educate wasn't pointless effort, but I wish the story states as well what he did to counter the fact that the faes hates humans not because of a misunderstanding, but because of their mistreatment towards faes(the story literally implies rhe humans kills faes meanwhile we have yet to see a royal guard fae that killed humans the story only tells us they chased them away), Levan does this when its clear that the Silver Owls was getting hostile, like objectively speaking, this was kinda not the right time to communicate and Meleanor was the receiving end of the build up hostility of the Silver Owls

This is kinda countering my first point, but Meleanor's decisions was kinda weird too in the story lol, why send your best Generals to the enemy fortress.... 😭💥 But I actually think this is interesting as well, because its likely a reference to the wars in LiveAction Maleficent... I remember watching that movie especially Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil and just wondering why the Moors never plans (and even if they do its very simple, just charge in and overpower the enemy with strength), they just charge in instead of treating it "like a chess" where you save your best pieces in dangerous situations and everyone has a role in dispelling the enemy. They also hold this belief that only the strong ones would guarantee their success and heavily relies on them. Meanwhile, Queen Ingrid used deception and control to subdue all the faeries. Like Meleanor/Faes vs Humans, the faes never thinks about what the human enemy plans, they rely on raw dodging it lol probably alluding to the fact that the faes have trouble thinking like a human.

And lastly this point lol, poor choice of headquarters, the terrain is easy for humans to invade in, and the castle is still weak, also the fact that Wild Briar was alone in fighting several human nations was a factor as well because it couldnt get back up in time because it was too far away from Black Scale Castle, kinda adding Wild Briar was outnumbered too atp

We’ve seen the embarrassing stories that Lilia has mentioned about Malleus, Silver, and Sebek in various instances.

Now?? Now, I want to hear about Lilia’s childhood. We know we won’t hear it from him (and I doubt Baul would mention any from their time together)

Soo, remember in Glorious Masquerade, when Malleus came up with the story that the cause of the Crimson Lotus was unknown, and Rollo was actually trying to save everyone alongside the NRC students?

What if that's another bit of foreshadowing for the end of Book 7?

Briar Valley is in a really precarious position now, still recovering from the Silver Owls, with the Senate mostly taking over while Maleficia grieves, so Malleus overblotting is just another blow to the fae, even if students like Leona, Kalim, Vil and Idia manage to advocate on his behalf.

So why not spin the tale of how there was an unnamed threat on the island that was so Dire (pun intended for Crowley) and all-encompassing that Malleus had to go all out?

To avoid collateral damage and prevent the issue from reaching the rest of the globe, he had no choice but to use his UM to cover the whole island, keeping everyone safe in a peaceful slumber while the threat was dealt with. Luckily, STYX coordinated efforts with the rest of Briar Valley and they managed to subdue the threat both inside and outside the barrier, and everyone is safe now!

That way, the world can see Malleus not as an uncontrollable monster, but as a fierce protector who might go a bit overboard, but means well (also he's a dragon and his remaining family was on the island, so his protectiveness is understandable). Therefore, it's best to befriend the fae and Briar Valley than make enemies out of them!

The only problem is the rest of the student body and staff that saw the overblot at Lillia's farewell party, but I'm pretty sure STYX's Lethe program is back on to deal with the mobs, while the rest of the cast can be sworn to secrecy in exchange for having Malleus owe them a favour (they can use Azul's UM for the NDA).

As for the problem, NRC has been dealing with overblots at least once a month, not to mention the STYX invasion, and the Phantom Dwarves back in the mines, and how Book 7 might introduce the true mastermind and that's what we have to deal with in Book 8... They just have to pick ONE of the options above.

As a sidenote, having Sunset Savanna become Briar Valley's fiercest allies because Leona told his brother that Malleus is his friend would be so funny. Falena sees his depressed brother going to the trouble of making a whole Power Point presentation to convince the council on the benefits of allying to Briar Valley, all to save a school friend, and just decides that Malleus Draconia will have his unending support. Kifaji too.

(Leona has been ignored and belittled so many times that he prepared for the worst and made a whole slide presentation in hopes of defending his point well enough. Shoud've just led with "Malleus Draconia is a friend of mine who just went through a very traumatic experience and I want to help him" Kifaji and Falena would accept in a heartbeat).

I realized something

Even if you were a fae, Malleus would still outlive you. Dragon fairies are especially long lived so it got me thinking.

It's highly possible Maleficia outlived her husband since Malleus never mentioned having a grandfather. If Maleanor were still alive (unsure about Raverne since it hasn't been confirmed or denied that he is alive or dead. Just missing) but there's a good chance that Maleanor could've outlived him too.

If we're using Lilia's lifespan as an example, there's a good chance that Malleus would live FAR past 1000 years (though I think 1000 is considered elderly for dragon fairies unsure tbh) but even if you were blessed with the long lifespan of a fae, there's a good chance that you would still be waiting a long time in the afterlife until he returns to you.

I really really think Crowley is Raverne. I wasn't able to post it because I was having dinner, but after the incident, he had an ENTIRE spiel about how his vision as an educator is that humans and Fae alike, or any race for that matter, are to live together in harmony and genuine understanding. But the keyword is that he specifically mentioned Fae and humans, before expanding to the other races as an afterthought.

Which, as you might remember, is literally the main thing Lilia remembers Raverne by.

I do not know if he doesn't remember. I don't know what his motives are. I don't know why and how he's acting nonchalant in all of this. But

He was ELATED when Maleficia donated to him a large portion of Briar Valley's knowledge. That guy was ELATED when Silver donated half of his Mystium armor to his care. Both of which are related to Briar Valley, both of which are deadly weapons when placed in the wrong hands.
