You know what makes the Paris proposal even better for me? The fact that in DoFP (old) Erik says "All these years wasted fighting eachother. To have a precious few of them back." (Just quoted that out of my head, dunno if it's completly right) And now it's Erik who makes something different, than they did in the other timeline, which leads to them living together and not fighting eachother. I feel like something in him knew, what would happen if he wouldn't make a step towards Charles, that he would regret not spending more peacefull time with him, as if there was a echo of their other timeline.

oh!!! my god. thank you for so kindly taking the time to give me the context, which unspooled my brain a little bit, and made me want to watch mad men in a way nothing else ever has. OH! fuck. what a gut punch.

WELL!! i definitely recommend it!! mad men is my absolute favorite show and it's a masterpiece in character study. the writers were incredibly, obviously very purposeful with their storytelling. i've talked to some people before about how when you're watching individual eps of mad men some people feel like nothing happens? but then when you step back and really look at where the characters started and where they end up every episode/season/etc you realize it's BIG it was all just handled through smaller incremental changes.

i don't know if that sounds like fun but i fucking love it haha. when i talk to people about mad men i tell them to approach each episode as a short story—each ep has a story that it is v interested in telling, but it's not always that interested in, like, week to week traditional season narratives.

anyway. if you were interested in what i said, i think you should give the show a try. i love it from the start, but a lot of people say it really hits its groove by ep6 (which is also the ep where peggy shows her first spark of talent for copy writing). i know i spoiled some stuff re:peggy's storyline for s1, which is probably the most cliched ~*tv*~ storyline in the show, but i think how they explore it after the fact is less cliched. i tried to avoid spoiling stuff about don so if you do choose to watch it, there will be some surprises waiting for you.

my whole point is just! if you love character focused storytelling, you should give mad men a shot!!
