Life lately was a lot of work and it’s been hard. Haven’t really had a social life and got heartbroken for a lil bit there so this trip to LA has been more than I ever deserved I feel.
I got to be on fuckin melrose ave as a featured artist in a gallery. I will be telling my grandchildren that man. At least I hope I get to.
I can’t really bring the right words to mind to say how I’m feeling right now so I leave you all with some photos and the fact that my heart is full and I had a successful trip already and I still have 2 more days to go.

Zinc Melrose Brings Homey Vegetarian Comfort to a Trendy Melrose Neighborhood
If you live in Hollywood, you probably know the split personality that is Melrose Avenue. East of Fairfax are the trendy, skater, streetwear brands, or the hipster trader outpost. These seem to be mostly inspired by the de facto performing arts highschool on the corner of Fairfax on Melrose that boasts a huge Flea Market just about every weekend.  From Fairfax to La Cienega, the age and income…

Froot Cups, 7353 Melrose Ave, Unit D, Los Angeles (Fairfax), CA 90046
Tumblr media
Froot Cups is a dessert shop with some Mexican flavors. Choose from mini pancakes, Dole soft serve (four flavors a day), fruit cups, parfaits, acai, and smoothies. There’s a wide range of toppings to choose from or you can choose their signature combinations.
Soft serve: Small ($6.50)/ Medium ($7.50)/ Large ($10.50)
Toppings cost extra, from $0.50 to $2, and include fruits, berries, exotic fruits, seasoning, cereal, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, crumbles, and drizzle.
Pineapple & strawberry Dole Whip ($6.50 + $0.75 for strawberries + $1 for hemp seeds): The soft serve portion was generous but I didn’t get more than one strawberry. I did get a good amount of hemp seeds. The soft serve texture was nice – very smooth. Both flavors had some tang. They are non-dairy, so they’re not creamy, but they didn’t seem overly icy either. However, the strawberry soft serve did not taste like real strawberries. Both flavors had an artificial aftertaste. The creation looked very nice.
Service was friendly. She provided samples of all the Dole Whip flavors. However, the employee insisted that Dole Whip is frozen yogurt. It has no live and active cultures. It is not froyo.
The interior is simple but cheerful, with bright orange and blue walls. Froot Cups is in a small strip mall with its own parking. They have a rewards program.
3.5 out of 5 stars.

Everyone prefers it because of this reason. It makes a perfect gym outfit when paired with track pants. If you would like to go outside, you can replace those pants with jeans or formal pants anti social social club.

'Faux Body Ornaments' jewelry store - 7309 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles CA (1986)
Designed by Solo Productions (Laura Solow), winged horse sculpture by W.J. Evans
"The original space, a large room, bare but for two Georgian columns and an archway, provided an empty canvas for Solow. The jewelry offered - gold mesh chains, twined metallic ropes, hanging crystals - pointed Solow in the direction of fantasy. Faux presents the visitor with a complete "planet-scape," an environment with elements of the past and the future, joining to create a sense of fairytale timelessness. The graphic image that serves as the repeated theme and the store's logo, a full moon split by a bolt of lighting, is the basis for an almost narrative design. Further back in the store is the most prominent element, mounted on the same wall as the archway: a gauze-winged horse in flight appears to be leaping out of the mountains. Solow explains that this is the narrative aspect of the store; the horse represents the muse, and has entered our world."
Scanned from the July 1986 issue of VMSD Magazine
Note: Melrose Avenue was a hotspot for amazingly creative and playful design in the 80s and 90s, I'm working to collect as many interiors and storefronts from that era as possible.

I'm 99% sure this is the role that got Jeffrey Combs cast as Herbert West.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He frequently tells the story that a casting director approached him for the role after seeing him perform a similar character in a play. Based on the date of this article and the description and appearance of Jeffrey's character, this must be it.

PICK OF THE WEEK
PVT. WARS
James McClure's play about three men in a veterans' hospital receives a near- flawless production under John C. Fletcher's impeccable direction. Though the play's three characters are survivors of Vietnam, this story has nothing to say about that war, or even about the nature of man and his military, other than the vague sanctioning of an individual's right to fight "private wars" of conscience. Rather, the emphasis is upon one of theater's most enduring situations, the heterosexual male triangle. Woodruff Gately is a hick grunt who now spends his time putting together a radio while two other patients vie for his attention and loyalty: Silvio, an Italian-American emasculated by shrapnel, and Natwick, a prissy rich kid hated by everyone but the affable Gately. Silvio's main form of recreation is flashing his nonexistent genitals to the nurses; Natwick's grasping for poetry leads him to a pathetic evening of failed suicide attempts. Both men make Gately's task infinitely more difficult by secretly stealing pieces from his radio, partly to assert their "superiority" over him, partly to insure his stay at the hospital.
Originally written as a one-act, McClure has expanded - and somewhat overextended - his play to two acts, using a lot of blackouts that fail to tighten the dramatic thread as they progress. It's a simple script with a pat metaphor (the radio as Gately's attempt to construct order in a fragmented world), but with enough. sincerity and concern for its characters to overcome its deficiencies. Gregory Grove is touching without being sappy as Gately, Tony Campisi wonderfully vulnerable as the blustering Silvio, and Jeffery Combs is perfectly brittle as the unpopular prig Natwick. Together the three reveal moments that are both refreshingly sad and funny in their depiction of men whose overriding need is to be heard by other men. Zephyr Theater, 7456 Melrose Ave., W. Hlywd.; Thurs.-Sun., 8 p.m.; thru Oct. 7. Call 851-3771. -Steven Mikulan

i feel like u have a very similar taste in style as me (aquarius risings unite) where do u shop?
aquarius rising? no wonder we vibe on the style front twin :) i love mixing high end with unique finds. net-a-porter is my go to for basically everything, their selection is always so curated and on point. you’ll also catch me shopping at places like nordstrom, fwrd, maxfield, saks fifth for timeless pieces. bottega and the row are my go-tos for those investment worthy finds. always on the hunt for pieces that whisper elegance and scream sophistication! but i also adore discovering gems at vintage boutiques and little indie shops. for something more everyday, i usually hit up melrose ave. think reformation for chic, sustainable pieces; then maybe a stop at resurrection for some killer vintage.
