Movie Review - Abigail [2024]
Tumblr media
Abigail is a horror film that was released on April 19th, 2024. It was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are more commonly known as Radio Silence. They have been behind many great modern horror projects, such as Ready or Not. The writers of this film were Stephen Shields and Guy Busick.
I have been looking forward to seeing this movie since I first saw the trailer. With a small ensemble cast of actors I adore and a singular main setting, this film had everything it needed to be one of my favorites.
There was plenty to love about this movie. I already mentioned the setting. Every time a single-location movie takes place in a big old-money mansion, I am hooked. It allows for so many different little elements and pathways through different areas. It allows for some amazing variety to something that could be incredibly boring. Another element I loved was the sound design. I don't know why I needed to listen to Frank (Dan Stevens) vomit for a minute straight, but at least it sounded good.
Throughout the film there is an impressive talent for balancing comedy and tension. Sammy (Kathryn Newton) and Peter (Kevin Durand) both carry this dynamic for most of the film with a number of background conversations. I also want to note Peter saying Wrinkles instead of Rickles (William Catlett) as another great example of this. This balance is exemplified by some lines during different fight scenes, such as Joey's (Melissa Barrera) "I'm doing my best, Abigail" and Frank saying something along the lines of "Holy fuck, she's fucking flying!" There were multiple moments where I had to just pause for a second while I giggled.
That balance was really just a smaller highlight of how great the chemistry was between characters and how well their personalities were defined. Even early on, each character was distinct. This is detrimental when looking at a film with a small cast.
The gore and effects were absolutely brilliant throughout the film. To my knowledge, most- if not all- of them were almost completely practical. It was so impressive that I was almost getting angry about it. I wish I could name one standout scene, but there really wasn't one. It was all so well done.
I also want to highlight the performance of Alisha Weir. While everyone in the cast was incredibly talented, Weir's performance had so many elements and nuances to it that it needs to be talked about. She does a nearly perfect job at portraying this calculated hunter. Abigail isn't some mindlessly hungry girl; she likes the chase. It's like the most intense version of the most dangerous game. I loved it. The dance sequences throughout the movie are an example of that. Her dancing with Dean's (Angus Cloud) body and using Sammy as a puppet to do that dance in the middle of the movie just showed how much fun she has when she's doing this. Weir was an absolute star at playing this character and I genuinely cannot wait to see what she does in the future.
Now, while there were many elements that I loved, that does not mean that this movie is without flaws. On a smaller scale, I don't see the value in the appearance of Abigail's father. I understand what the goal with the scene was, but there simply not enough for me to emotionally connect to feel like that goal was fulfilled. Which was a shame because it was the last scene of the movie. On a much larger scale, I don't love that the twist was so heavily advertised before the movie's release. The characters don't find out what Abigail is until almost halfway through the movie. This feels a bit dragged out considering most of the audience likely knew from the moment that they pressed play.
Overall, I found Abigail to be a very funny and chaotic film filled to the brim with amazing gore and really well-done characters. The shortcomings of the film have little impact on the overall quality of the film. If you are a fan of Radio Silence's other projects like Ready or Not or other horror-comedy movies like Bodies Bodies Bodies, then this movie may very well be right up your alley.

My toxic trait is I skip every Neteyam and Ao’nung fic cause I’m just looking for the Spider ones, but as soon as those two fuckers interact even slightly in the background of my Spider fic I’m like “KISS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING??”

All of the camera work in this film is either stationary or very smooth.
Flashing Lights: 3/10. Motion Sickness: 1/10.
TRIGGER WARNING: This film is very bloody and gory. The opening sequence depicts the kidnapping of a child. One woman vomits suddenly after discovering a gory scene. A man vomits blood with several seconds of body language warning beforehand.

Listening to coinstar by the growlers and thinking about mel so hard I get nauseous
Ridiculous stream of conscious in the tags apologies but not really
#it speaks#white woman moment#its really funny bc like. its very much a her to jfk song#(everyones favorite problematic short king)#but she looks at him with uhhh#like heres this kid(hes 28) standing on the precipice o what she had been all those years ago#but he KNOWS it she didnt know she thought she had mold poisoning from her shitty apartment until she died#and she is projecting so much onto him. which is part of why she doesn't respect him at all#'im a sucker just like you'#its also funny bc like. it is Too Late for Phoenix.also its scary that theyre hungry bc as far as she knows death avatars arent supposed 2 b#but also theyre the first one shes met. and Phoenix is kind of just scary in general.#but being around those two is like. almost flashbacky(jfk also reminds her alot of her ex aroun that age tho audreys dad was Worse)#(she never met him but heard enough stories about the guy and i mean. he fed her to the hunt on purpose.#i dont think jorges dad wanted what was going to happen to happen)#part of why she texted her so fast tbh. not that they hadnt talked at all since the divorce.#i thinj they talked. not alot bc mel WAS in europe and international data rates pre smartphone age oof ouch#and also like. they did irrevocably harm eachother physically and mentally but they do both careeeeee#tho. i do not think melissa wouldve ever dropped everything to go help audrey like audrey would and did for her.#(girl who runs away from her problems x girl who is a dog)#auuughhhhhh#she really is my chew toy.#i also think alot about her sky mafia years but those r fun and sexy little secrets for me#as much as i love Basil's motw campaign i do with it was easier to unentangle her from tma lore.#bc like. normal vampire works well but it loses so much of the flavor. various sea beasts keep the flavor but loose the morality.#for pathfinder if i were to redo her id go with storm oracle and then spec into kineticist. which does work Ok I Guess.#but like. even that its still not what i want#one scene that probably would've never happened in game but i thought ahout if we ever went back to the item storage or maybe a wierd thrift#shop or something was to like. have her come across a violin and pick it up and make it scream horribly. like. really concentrate on making#it make the worst noise imaginable. shes trying to reach that wonderful horrible music avatars mention alot in the earlier seasons#and then realizes everyone else Hates That So Much and jokingly play one of the devil's riffs from tdwdg. tbh i should finally draw that

ABIGAIL (2024)
💁‍♀️Strong Female Lead
Tumblr media
This movie mashes up a bunch of fun tropes: the 24 hour trope, the locked house/no way out trope, the hunted becomes the hunter trope, the perfect strangers trope, the empathetic struggling mother as the lead character trope, etc, etc… There are a few things that really stuck out in a bad way to me, but in that same breath there were a few things that really hung on as being great scene additions to the horror genre.
⭐⭐⭐.5
Y'all, I got a little bit of beef with this movie. The premise of people constantly working for a high powered vampire in an elaborate ruse to fake kidnap his (actually) adult daughter, have her taken to her special meal house, and then let her have her shenanigans? Well, I call shenanigans. That and I felt the way that they used sunlight just seemed too easy, lest we forget the moon is just a big white ball reflecting the sun back to earth, so how come that’s fine? Even human beings with allergies to the sun cannot go out at night or even be in indirect sunlight. Shenanigans number two.
Tumblr media
And the final shenanigans before I praise the film, the fact that they impressed upon us that the mansion they were in was random and that it had nothing to do with Abigail or her family. There was so much lore in the house that was just skipped over because they couldn't have just said “this is their summer home.” You find out halfway through the movie it is her house, but by then all the (creeping) creepiness is gone because you already know Abby is a killer queen!
I heard someone describe this film as Scooby Doo meets Clue and while I don't quite see the Clue aspect (because what mystery was there really, other than how far they could/would stretch the plot) I do feel like the Scooby Doo comparison was apt. Only problem is, if anyone was Scooby it was that goofy guy who got ate right away, so… 😿 (just kidding)
Tumblr media
I think the best players in the movie had to be Sammy, Peter, and Abigail herself. Sammy, bless her heart, went through the worst in all this though which brings me to my favorite part of the film: The Body Pool. Sammy somehow crashed through a door and fell into a swimming pool absolutely filled with corpses. The consistency of the “water” that was floating around her and the bodies is… viscous. As a viewer I was acutely aware that the Jamba Juice from that pool got into her mouth which might have been worse than being submerged in so much death. Tasting it. When asked how many people there were in the pool, she just screamed, which was the correct answer. You know she has to absolutely reek for the rest of the film, right? Well it doesn't matter much, because Sammy gets bit by Abby when she tries to save one of the other kidnappers from Abby. And then the puppetry begins.
Tumblr media
Sammy and Peter just had a nice friendship moment, so the stage is set for Abigail to turn Sammy and somehow control her mind, make her dance, and then stab Peter to death. Then to add insult to injury Sammy is full on exploded by the sun. No remains. Wild. RIP Sammy, you had it really fucking rough in this one.
We get to the final fight and it turns out Abby isn't as bad as we thought, she's just very old and very short, both things are bound to make you cranky (perhaps enough to kill several dozen folks and put them in your indoor swimming pool, who can say?). Turns out, one of the kidnappers was a bad guy (shocking, a bad kidnapper?). Abs and the Final Girl teamed up to kill Toothy Terry and barely did (girl power!). And then Daddy arrives (yikes) and Abigail can barely get him to not kill Final Girl (“but daddy, we've already named her Final Girl!”)
Tumblr media
The ending really made me want justice for Abigail (and Sammy). Abby was clearly a sad and tortured thing who then tortured others. If her father hadn't created her (turned her into a vampire that is) she wouldn't have done this. She wouldn’t have been capable of it. Part of me doubts they could make it a whole movie but I would love to see Abigail fight her father (and win, of course).
Tumblr media
PS the “strong female lead” is for Sammy and Abigail.

Drunk Actions, Sober Thoughts- part 2
Part 1 @theboreworms @schemmentisbaby @ literally everyone else who bullied me into writing a part 2, i hope this lives up to your expectations.
Summary: Are drunk actions really sober thoughts?
WC: ~2.35k
Tumblr media
When Melissa wakes up, she wakes with a groan. Jesus Christ, how much did she have to drink at Janine’s party last night? And who let her drink that- it hits her at a dizzying rate. Barbara was determined to get Sea Barbara to come out, which she succeeded in. And because she and the redhead usually go shot for shot with heavy handed pours, Melissa also got absolutely hammered.
The second grade teacher turns, and she realizes she’s in her bed. How did she get- Holy shit. She vaguely remembers flirting with you the entire night. Does that mean you brought her home? Did she say anything stupid? Did she try to make any moves on you?
“Never goin’ shot for shot with Barbie again,” Melissa grumbles to herself as she reaches for her nightstand drawer to grab Advil. Of course though, there’s already a glass of water and two pills sitting nicely on top. She downs them and prays to God himself that this hangover will go away quickly.
Once she’s secure in the fact that she isn’t going to get sick standing up, the redhead makes her way out of bed, secures her reading glasses on her head, and heads downstairs. And sitting on the coffee table is your note. Her tired eyes can’t read your note without her glasses, so she pulls them down and sets them on the tip of her nose before scanning what you had written.
“Fuck,” Melissa mumbles to herself. “What the fuck did I do last night?”
As she cooks herself breakfast, memories come back in pieces. She remembers taking shots with Barbara, you coming in, dancing with you- her hand in your back pocket.
Meanwhile, at breakfast, you’re doing everything that you can to try to stay focused and pay attention to what your dad is telling you, but it’s quite difficult.
“What’s got you so distracted today, kiddo?” your father asks. “And don’t tell me it’s nothing, because it’s clearly something.”
You shrug. “Just… had a long night last night.”
“Why would that be?” your dad chuckles. “You knew you had to be up bright and early to be with your old man today.”
“My coworker had a party, and I ended up having to take my other colleague home,” you explain, and you quietly pray he doesn’t pry any further.
Of course though, he does. “Was it that Melissa character?”
Your cheeks turn red at the memory of last night. “Yeah,” you mumble.
“What happened? Did you tell her how you feel?”
You shake your head. “Of course not. But, uh-” You scratch the back of your head. “She might’ve told me how she feels about me.”
“Oh?” your dad raises his eyebrows as he takes a sip of his coffee. “So what came of that?”
“Well,” you sigh softly. “Nothing yet. I had to leave to come meet you, but I told her I would come back so we could talk about it today.”
“Why the hell are you here with me, kid?” the man across the table asks you. “You should be there with her.”
“I wouldn’t cancel on you, dad,” you roll your eyes. “I haven’t seen you in a while, and I wouldn’t cancel on you.”
“Well, I’m telling you now to get the hell out of here and go to her.”
“We’re in the middle of breakfast.”
“And I’ll see you again next weekend,” your father tells you as he takes a bite of his hash brown. “Go get your girl, kid.”
“Are you being serious right now?”
He nods. “Go. I’ll be waiting for your call to tell me how it went.”
With a heavy breath blown out, you stand, grab your purse, kiss your cheek, and head out of the restaurant.
Your father watches you go before picking up his cell phone and calling your mother. “Jude, I think our girl might finally get her girl.”
“It’s about damn time, Bobby.”
Your heart is racing by the time you pull back into Melissa’s driveway. You can see her silhouette through the window and take a deep breath for getting out of the car and making your way up to the house.
You have no idea how this is going to go, but you can only hope that it works out in your favor. You knock gently, and she’s at the door about thirty seconds later.
Her hair is up in one of the messiest buns you’ve seen, her glasses are on the tip of her nose, and even though she’s simply in her pajamas, you can’t help but think about how beautiful she looks right now. How waking up next to her this morning was something that you’ve wanted to do for a long time.
“Hey,” she sighs softly as she steps aside to let you in.
“Hey,” you reply just as gently. “How are you feeling this morning?”
She shrugs. “Woke up with a ridiculous hangover. Thank you for the Advil and water this morning.”
“Of course,” you chuckle quietly.
She gestures for you to come inside. “Well, are you going to just stand there, or are you going to come in?”
You make your way into the house on light feet and set your purse down on her couch. “I think we need to talk.”
“Yeah,” Melissa hums. “Listen, about last night… I’m really sorry if I crossed a boundary.”
You shake your head. “You didn’t cross any boundaries,” you promise her. “I just think we need to talk about the things that were said and done last night. How much of it do you remember?”
She relays to you what she remembers- drinking with Barbara, having you near her most of the night once you got there, the dancing… her hand placement.
“You remember more than I thought you would,” you can’t help but giggle. “Especially for how gone you were last night.”
“I’m sure there’s more that I’m not remembering,” the redhead scratches the back of her neck. “Care to fill me in?”
You worry your lip between your teeth for a few seconds before you sigh softly. “Mel, you… you kept telling people I was your girl. When I brought you home, you… you had me pressed up against the wall.”
The redhead’s mouth falls open in shock. “Holy shit.”
“You told me you have feelings for me and what you love about me,” you continue.
“I-” Melissa puts her head in her hands to hide her embarrassment. “I am so sorry.”
You shrug. “I wasn’t mad about it. I just- is that really how you feel about me?” You subconsciously tuck a stray hair behind your ear. You quirk your lips to one side and keep your eyes on the ground. If she didn’t mean what she told you last night, you don’t want Melissa to see the disappointment on your face. That would be beyond embarrassing. What you don’t see is the slight widening of Melissa’s eyes as she remembers something she said last night.
“Hun.” A soft hand cups your cheek and forces you to look into those jade eyes of her own.
“Mel,” you sigh softly. “It’s fine.”
Red hair sways back and forth gently as she shakes her head. “Drunk words and actions are sober thoughts,” she tells you the sentiment she slurred out last night.
And then her lips are on yours again. And although she had kissed you before previously, you aren’t expecting it this time either. It takes you a few seconds to set your hands on her waist and pull her closer to you. When she pulls away, there’s a warm smile on her face, and her eyes are a softer shade of green than you’ve ever seen. The sparkle in them is as bright as ever.
“I meant what I told you last night,” Melissa tells you quietly. “I just… never thought I’d actually get the girl.”
“I thought I’d never get the girl,” you chuckle softly as you lean in to kiss her again. “Holy shit.”
“Just wait until you can see what else I can do,” the redhead smirks.
You end up spending the day with Melissa. It’s warm, it’s cozy. It’s quite similar to how you would usually spend a day with her outside of school, but there’s more stolen kisses, more hand holding, arms wrapped around your waist as you cook lunch and dinner together.
“So,” you hum out quietly as you sit next to her for dinner today. “I do think we should talk about what… this… is.” You gesture between the two of you.
“I don’t want no fling,” the redhead tells you. “I want you. And if that’s something that you can’t handle, then I think we need to call it-”
You stop her with a kiss. When you pull back you roll your eyes at her. “Melissa Schemmenti, I haven’t even been on a date since I started working at Abbott because the only person I can think about is you. I don’t want a fling either. I want you. I want this.”
She nods with that starry smile of hers. It dims a few seconds later though. “Do you think… think we can just keep this under wraps for a little bit? Like, at least with the work group?”
“You aren’t going to tell Barb?” you chuckle.
Melissa shrugs. “She’ll find out in her own time… probably when I drag you along to one of our brunches over the summer.”
You end up calling your father on the car ride home from your now girlfriend’s house.
“Kid?” your dad picks up. “Hey, I was expecting your call a little earlier than this. Is everything okay?”
“I’m good,” you sigh softly. “Sorry. I was just spending time with my girlfriend.”
You can hear your mother gasp in the background. “Girlfriend?”
“Girlfriend,” you confirm.
You can practically see smile on both of their faces. “Oh, how wonderful.”
“When do we get to meet her?” your mom asks loudly. You can faintly hear your father telling her that she doesn’t need to scream into the phone to be heard.
“I’m sure she’ll make an appearance sooner or later,” you laugh. “We are keeping it quiet for the time being, but… you’ll meet her over the summer.”
Your girlfriend ends up accompanying you to the family fourth of July picnic. As you could’ve guessed, your parents absolutely adore her. She’s the perfect amount of charming while also maintaining that mysterious and sarcastic aura around her. She’s great with your younger cousins, and also their parents. Quite a few of your family members end up pulling you aside to tell you that if you let her go, they’re taking her side in the matter. You just reply with the same thing each time: an eye roll and the statement, “I’m not planning on letting her go.”
The rest of July, you spend a lot of time down at the shore. Melissa and her ex-husband have a time share, and your now girlfriend prefers to use it during July while he would rather have June. It’s convenient the way that all worked itself out. You don’t think you’ve eaten so many curly fries in vinegar before this summer.
July passes by quickly, soaking in the sun, taking in the views (of your girlfriend in her bathing suit), resting and relaxing. And then August creeps up on you, and it’s about time for the two of you to begin thinking about going back to school.
“So we’re still keeping it on the down low?” you ask gently as you crawl into bed the night before professional development starts.
“I think so,” the redhead shrugs. “I like this little bubble that we’re in- don’t you?”
You smile and kiss her warmly. “I do.”
“An’,” your girlfriend shrugs again. “If they find out, they find out. Ain’t like we hiding it like Janine and Gregory.”
“I still can’t believe we saw them at the park last week and they didn’t see us,” you chuckle out.
You somehow manage to make it through the week of professional development, and your kids are starting back up before you know it. You’re down the hall in the classroom next to Gregory’s, and Melissa is right across from Janine. It’s a nice little square that the four of your classrooms make. And it’s funny as hell to both you and your girlfriend how obvious they’re being, and yet they somehow still think they’re so subtle.
You, Barbara, Ava, and Melissa all get pulled to do a talking head for one of the camera men. He asks what you think is going on between Janine and Gregory.
“We all know,” the four of you state at once. The four of you continue on to state that you have no idea how they could even think that they’re hiding their relationship- what dumb asses. The four of you aren’t dumb either, but none of you really care. Well, aside from Ava who thinks that it’s an insult to her intelligence.
The four of you go to leave the hall from your interview, only for the camera crew to keep Barbara behind. Ava tosses her hair and saunters off while you and your girlfriend just smile at each other before parting ways.
“Are there any other changes that you’ve noticed over the summer?” he asks the kindergarten teacher.
Barb glances around to make sure no one is listening before leaning in just slightly. “Melissa and Y/N? Ooh, they are playing the same game that Gregory and Janine are. And I have a feeling… Gregory and Janine aren’t the only two who got it together that night at the end of the year party. Hmm.” She points to the two of you- you leaning against Melissa’s doorframe.
The camera quickly pans over to the two of you, and you don’t know it… but you and your girlfriend are just as bad as your counterparts.

FEELINGS - j. champion
You and Jack met during the chemistry reads for Scream VI. It was obvious that, from the beginning, you two were close. Your personalities went well together and everyone saw your obvious chemistry. The chemistry really helped, seeing as your characters were love interests. As time went on, you began to see Jack differently and he the same. And maybe, unlike your characters, the two of you would have a happy ending.
Filming for Scream VI was slowly coming to an end. You heard someone say that you only had about 2 weeks of filming left before everything wrapped.
It was bittersweet.
Occasionally, you'd find yourself reminiscing about all of the friendships and memories you've made this summer. Something about your castmates just made the whole filming process all the more better. Especially since this was your first real project.
The directors were taking a chance with you, hiring a newcomer was a risky move. But needless to say, they believed they made the right choice. You were a phenomenal actor.
"Earth go, Y/N." Jasmine was waving her hand in front of your face, bringing your attention back to the 4 sitting around you.
You, Melissa, Jenna, Devyn, Liana, and Jenna all sat in a circle in the grass. A break had been announced while they worked out some kinks in a scene and they let you all just chill together.
"Hmm?"
Devyn reached over and squeezed your hand, smiling sweetly at you. "We're rating our castmates 'cause we're bored."
She was the sweetest, just like her character.
"And it's time to rate Mason, and I don't plan on rating him because he's like my brother and that's weird." Jasmine laughed, earning laughs from the group.
You shrugged, "7.5?"
Most nodded, except for Jenna who scoffed and called out the number 4. Her response only elicited a fit of laughter from the group. Jenna loved picking on Mason, it was one of her favorite pastimes.
"Oooh, i've got one." Melissa clapped her hands in excitement. "Y/N, rate Jack."
You swallowed harshly. Suddenly very thankful that the boys weren't around instead of being mopey like you had been before. You actually had been wishing that Jack... and Mason were there. But now that they'd asked that? Their absence was actually a blessing.
"3."
Jack was your best friend.
"Bullshit!" Liana yelled.
She was right, you'd lied straight through your teeth. You'd met Jack while doing chemistry reads months ago. Your characters played love interests so you'd gotten to meet the boy before the rest of the cast so the directors could ensure the two of you had believable chemistry.
"Um." you mumbled, you'd actually fallen for him as time passed.
When you got to set in June you thought the constant butterflies in your stomach were from being excited and nervous to film. It wasn't until a week or two later and you were grabbing lunch alone with Jack that you realized that the butterflies only showed up when you were in his presence.
Jenna playfully pushed you by the arm, "C'mon, tell us the real answer."
You hated how they knew about your real feelings. You had never admitted them, though. So, their knowledge was pure speculation at this point.
"10." you'd said it almost too quiet for them to hear.
But when they erupted in screams and Devyn tackled you in a hug, you knew they'd heard you.
"No one can tell him! He definitely only sees me as a friend and i'm not ruining the friendship." you instructed from your spot below Devyn.
They all agreed to not tell, but also told you that you were wrong. Apparently they knew that your feelings weren't 1 sided.
"Who likes who?"
You all froze.
It was the familiar voice of Jack that made your stomach drop. Devyn crawled off of you, helping you sit up. You couldn't bare to look at Jack. You were sure your cheeks were bright red and he'd know immediately.
"Chad likes Tara." Jenna blurted, attempting to get Jack off the topic.
The grass looked very interesting all of a sudden.
"Well, I knew that. That's boring." he scoffed.
You mentally cursed when he sat down next to you on the grass, his knee bumping with yours. It took everything in you to not look at him still. Jack was your best friend after all, his brown eyes always brightened your day.
"Jackson, wanna play our game?" Jasmine broke the silence.
Your eyes snapped to Jasmine's, she wouldn't.
You looked around the circle, realizing that all of the girls had smirks on their lips. They knew what Jasmine was up to.
"Sure?" he laughed nervously.
Jasmine rubbed her hands together, never looking back at you. "We're rating our castmates, so, rate Y/N."
"Easy, 10."
What?
You looked right at him as all of the girls went crazy. Did he say what you thought he did?
He wouldn't look at you though, his cheeks burning crimson. You couldn't tell the reason behind the blushing, though, sometimes Jack would blush when he had too much attention on him.
But it still made you sick that he wouldn't look at you.
"I don't feel good." you mumbled, jumping up and running off.
Jack was oblivious though.
While you were basically dry heaving in your trailer, he had texted and wished for you to feel better and to ask if you were still on for your movie night. You sighed, actually thankful that he didn't get the hint as to why Jasmine had asked or why you ran off and simply texted a "thank you, and yes."
The Jasmine texted, checking on you and apologizing for asking Jack. Even adding the disclaimer about how at least he thought you were a 10. You forgave her and told here there were no hard feelings. It was just a simple game.
A few hours later and you had all returned to your apartments for the night.
You were freshly showered with your hair in two braids down your back, body clad in pajamas. Your pajamas consisted of a pair of boy's boxers and a tshirt Jack had given you of his. The two of you were at his apartment one night and you saw an avatar shirt he had on the arm of his couch and you had geeked out over it. In that moment, Jack knew he had to give it to you.
The shirt had brought you more joy than it probably ever would him, and he'd definitely smile every time he saw you in it.
"Knock, knock!" Jack called out as he walked in using the key you'd given him in case you lost yours — well that and you didn't want to have to let him in every time he came over.
He held up a bag of takeout, "I still got the tacos in case you were hungry. Feeling better?"
You nodded, walking over and taking the bag from his hand, leading him to the kitchen.
"I don't know what happened." you lied, taking the containers out of the bag. "But i'm much better now."
The two of your stood in the kitchen eating your tacos. For some reason, every time Jack came over he'd bring tacos from this place you two had found at the beginning of filming. You'd stand around in the kitchen and chow done, catching up on any time spent apart before eventually finishing and going to watch your movie of choice.
"Do you mind if we watch in my room? I'm exhausted." you sold your story by yawning.
You were telling the truth, you were absolutely wiped today. Jack shrugged, lunging toward you and picked you up. You let out a scream of surprise as he carried you, walking you back to your bedroom.
He carefully sat you down on the covers and let you crawl into your spot while he took his shoes off. Without hesitation, he crawled in next to you, propping himself against the headrest.
Your heart started beating closer at your proximity. You tried to ignore it be cueing up the movie, Scream (2022) tonight. The two of you had been on a Scream kick lately.
"This one's gonna be weird to watch since we know these weirdos in real life." Jack chuckled, getting more comfortable, which only brought him closer to you.
Was that on purpose?
You couldn't tell.
As the movie went on, you suddenly became super aware of how close the two of you were sitting. Your head was only inches from Jack's shoulder, so you gave in, letting your head fall onto him.
You'd done this countless times before, but this time felt different. You could've sworn you heard Jack breathe in sharply.
A couple minutes passed before you felt something touching your hand under the covers. You focused for a second before realizing that Jack was tapping the back of your hand with his fingers. Without thinking, you flipped your hand so your palm was up, Jack quickly intertwining his fingers with yours now.
You'd never been more thankful that it was dark, because he wouldn't be able to see how red your cheeks were now.
You got more comfortable, enjoying both the movie and Jack rubbing the back of your hand with the pad of his thumb. Once again, he'd held your hand before, but this time felt different.
Your mind was going crazy and so were all the butterflies in your stomach. Oh what this boy did to you.
You'd met him about a month after you had turned 17, about a week before Christmas. His birthday about a month prior to that. The two of you had bonded over being "late 2004 babies" and the rest of your friendship was history.
But what if it changes tonight?
Jack squeezed your hand.
You lifted your head, looking to him, your hands staying connected. Jack had a different look on his face, once that you'd only ever seen when he was playing Ethan and he was looking at you. This was a look you'd seen Jack portray when looking at his girlfriend.
But this time the look felt entirely genuine.
"J?" you questioned quietly when you noticed his eyes flickering to different places around your face, one of them being your lips.
It was like you were nervous.
Almost questioning if this was real.
Jack didn't say anything, instead he ducked his head and connected his lips with yours. You gasped slightly, not expecting his abruptness.
But you didn't hesitate to kiss back.
Sure, you'd kissed before while acting, but this right here? This was real. This was Jack and Y/N. Not Ethan and Y/C/N.
Your free hand held the back of his neck, fingers fiddling with the curls at the nape of his neck. Jack smiled into the kiss and you swore you almost lost all composure.
How could he be so cute?
His hand broke free of yours and you faltered for a second. Only regaining your composure when you felt his hands grips your hips to pull you on top of him. You forgot how strong he was.
Jack's hands stayed on your hips while your hand not on the back of his neck decided to rest on his chest. You hadn't realize how toned he was and you could definitely feel the muscle under his tshirt.
He pulled away, letting you sit up slightly as you both goofily smiled at each other. "I'm assuming this is okay since you so willing let me pull you onto my lap?" Jack raised an eyebrow, the slightest smirk playing on his lips.
You couldn't help but peck his lips, heart fluttering when you saw his smirk falter into a pout when you pulled away so quickly.
"I mean, we both rated each other 10s earlier and i'm pretty sure i've liked you for a couple months now."
He seemed proud of himself, the cutest smile now on his lips. "Good, good. Glad I didn't read the signs wrong and ruin the friendship."
"That'd be awful."
You hand slid around from the back of his neck and up to his cheek, your thumb rubbing over his cheekbone. You couldn't help but admire him.
You've done that time and time again. But never this close or with these feelings.
He was looking at you the same way. His hands had found their way underneath your shirt, sitting on your bare waist and thumbs caressing the soft skin underneath them.
"Kiss me again, your lips are addicting." he mumbled, his voice quiet from being mesmerized by the situation he'd found himself in.
You happily obliged.
You quickly leaned in and connected your lips, both of you moving together in sync. It was like your lips were created to be together.
Jack's hands stayed put, never once wandering. And same for you. The two of you were content with doing exactly what you were doing. Maybe the rest will come a different day.
"Stay over tonight?" you mumbled against his lips.
You felt him nod, "I'd like that."
You were ecstatic. The thought of falling asleep in Jack's arms had you beyond excited. He always made you feel safe, so you had a feeling you'd sleep like a baby tonight.
"Good, good." You let a finger lightly trace his jawline, down his neck, down his chest, and then stopping when you left your hand to rest in his lap.
Jack caught you hand, breaking the kiss and looking you dead in the eye, his eyes wider than usual. "I'm going to need you to not do that again, because i'm really trying to be respectful and only kiss you tonight and that's not helping."
Your cheeks burned red, "Oh." You patted his chest, "Then let's stop this for now and finish the movie."
You crawled off of him, Jack saying something about how that was a good idea before kissing you quickly once more. You tucked your body into his once more, except now your head was rested on his chest and his arm fell lazily around your body.
You could get used to this.

Flight (2012)
This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
Flight has a few scenes of lightning, blinking airplane lights, and flashing cameras. There is a lightning-related jump scare while the main character is in a hospital with a single but severe strobe of lightning. During the emotional climax of the movie, there are cameras flashing from all directions as a big revelation is made.
All of the major camera motion risks take place during the plane crash sequence, which takes place early in the film. This includes shaking cameras, extreme heights, complex flight maneuvers including rolls, and disorienting POV shots.
Flashing Lights: 5/10. Motion Sickness: 4/10.
TRIGGER WARNING: The plane crash sequence near the beginning of the film is highly visceral, intense, and feels realistic. One person vomits on-screen during this sequence. The rest of the film deals with themes of addiction in realistic ways.

Before the elevator doors could close behind you, Melissa’s hand was clutching yours as she set off towards your hotel room. Her confidence and determination reminded you of a hot summer night during your twenties when you walked her home from a party - as soon as you approached her apartment, her hand was in yours, but her mind already between the sheets of her bed.
“You aren’t too busy to stay tonight, are you?” Melissa cooed as she stopped in her tracks outside of her apartment door. She gave your hand a strong tug which sent your tipsy body stumbling into hers - your hands gripping her sides to steady yourself.
Her statement was obviously rhetorical when she attached her lips to yours. One arm wound around your neck while the other slithered up your chest to hold your chin - both effectively holding you in place. Not that you wanted to go anywhere anyways.
As of a week ago, she and Joe were on a break (again), and suddenly you were both attached at the hips once again. Her hands had been wandering for days - slowly testing the waters to see how far she could get with you. And each time Mel’s skin brushed against your own, you felt electricity crackling across your body.
Melissa still hadn’t lost her touch. Her hands had found their way under your shirt, thumbs stroking your skin, sending those same jolts across your body once more. You were losing yourself in the moment. Her hands felt everywhere all at once. You could have sworn that her pink lipstick covered your face. Each touch made you feel intoxicated.
You found yourself fading into past memories when you heard her breathless, gruff voice in your ear. And suddenly you were 16 again.
“I need you.” The redhead whispered as she pressed you against her bedroom door.
You had picked her up from her boyfriend’s house at one in the morning. She had snuck out to see him, but when her sexual escapades resulted in disappointing results, she called pleading with you to rescue her.
“I-” Your brows furrowed, head bowed, and hands clutched her sides. How could you tell her that you had no clue what to do with all of her bottled up desire? It felt like she expected the world from you, but your inexperience made you freeze up like a deer in headlights.
Her mother, sisters, and brothers were home. You couldn’t have the devout Catholic Ms. Schemmenti see you being more than friendly with her daughter, but Melissa’s canine teeth gently sinking into the side of your neck made your worries start to fade.
She tempted you once more, “Come on, baby.”
With unexpected expertise, Melissa fished her hotel key from her pocket and pressed it to the sensor on the door. Your heart leapt when you heard her giggle as she fumbled with the door handle. Overwhelmed by your desire for her, you forced your lips to hers once more and backed her into the hotel room, letting the door slam behind you.
It was blurry as you both approached the bed. Dominance would shift back and forth as you pressed one another to the walls and tore at each other's clothes. She had come away as the winner when she pushed you back onto the bed.
Melissa’s gaze was hungry as she stared down at you. Her hands undid her jeans, and you loved the way her jaw shifted when she was met with the slight challenge of sliding her jeans over her wide hips. She slowly stripped before you, taking off each piece of clothing without breaking her eye contact.
“Take a picture. It lasts longer.”
“Don’t tempt me.” Your response had been so quick that Melissa wasn’t expecting such forwardness. She always loved teasing you about your tendency to admire her, but often you would just look away with a red face.
The redhead was comfortable changing in front of you, but would usually turn away from you when she removed her bra - always preserving some assemblance of privacy. This time, however, she remained facing you, staring you down as she revealed her chest to you. In the past, you had always had the decency to stare down into your lap, but now you soaked up the sight.
She took a few steps closer, and time stopped. She was towering over you as you sat on the edge of her bed, her breasts were at eye level. Her hand caught the back of your neck, causing you to stall in place. You couldn’t believe the momentum of her hand was pulling you towards her enchanting body.
“Well, don’t be shy now.”
Shaken from lingering in your memories, you caught her nipple between your lips, settling into the comforting position of our hands and mouth on her tits and her knees on either side of your lap. Her fingers scratched your scalp and played with your hair as small hums of satisfaction emanated from her body.
When you detached your lips and looked up to meet her eyes, Melissa’s intensity wavered for a moment. A soft smile graced her lips and she cocked her head, “You always look beautiful like this.”
You had no words for her. You only wanted to make her feel good.
With strong hands gripping her thighs, you lifted her momentarily to exchange places with her on the bed. And rather than loom over her for the same body worship, you sank to your knees, taking your rightful place between her legs.
“This always feels so right...”
Of course it does. You knew this, but after years apart, you were happy to remind her (or prove to her) how well you knew every square inch of her. It was so satisfying to hear each one of her vocalizations, each more unrestrained than the last as she lost control over herself.
Maybe it was pure ego, but you always told yourself that you were the only one that could do this to her. That could bring out this part of her. Why else would she keep coming back for more?
With the pure motivation of proving yourself to be Melissa’s most competent lover, you probed her cunt more thoroughly and savored her flavor as she grew wetter.
“I have to feel you against me.” Mel’s hands on your cheeks and growl drew you from continuing to swim through the memory any longer.
While you weren’t sure what she had in mind, you were directed by the impatient and aggressive woman sharing the bed. Her hands desperately tugged at any remaining clothes, causing you to nervously fumble around as you stripped.
When you were finally naked, she had you with your back against the bed and her manicured nails teasing your cunt, testing your wetness only to find you soaked. Reliving the past while also being in the present with Melissa had you feeling frenzied for her touch, and you let her know as such when you muttered ‘please’ over and over.
“I will, baby.” Her voice was breathy and your clit throbbed at hearing the pet name. You knew you were weak for Melissa Schemmenti, but now you felt like absolute putty in her hands, ready to do what she requested at any second.
You were disappointed when she momentarily moved away. It was impossible for you to contain your groan when your cunt made contact with hers as you weren’t expecting the coolness of her sopping heat against you.
Instinct took over you both as you gripped one another's hips and thighs, attempting to draw the other closer for increasingly satisfying sensations as you grind your cunts together. When her mouth found yours, it felt as though she was trying to swallow you whole with each open mouthed kiss and swipe of her tongue. From the way she held and kissed you, it was hard to contend which one of you was the most desperate for the other’s touch.
Melissa was turned around and completely lost in the humping, grinding, and swirl of limbs. Her thoughts were so overrun by her body chasing down the orgasm she craved, the filter for her thoughts had completely shut down.
“I love you,” she breathed, hand squeezing at the back of your neck, “I never want... you... you to think otherwise.”
You lost track of the night from there, completely blinded by her admission.
Hours later you would still have her sprawled out on her back, chest heaving with each tantalizing thrust of your hips. You had her repeat those first three words over and over, breathing them in as if you needed them to live. While you couldn’t force the same words from your mouth, you hoped each of your kisses and movements could reflect the love you held for her until you were ready to return the sentiment.
--
It had been disappointing to wake up to an empty bed, but the photo of Melissa in a black bikini waiting for you in your texts had you throwing on your bathing suit to make your way to her by the pool before you had truly shaken the sleep from your body. It was easy to push the thought of not admitting your feelings from your head. You knew you loved her, but hearing her say it was far better than anything you had experienced in years. For now, it was easier to focus on that than your own shortcomings in vulnerability.
When you found her by the poolside, Melissa patted the spot between her legs, and while the innuendo would typically make you blush, her tone and eyes only conveyed an innocent sweetness. “I didn’t have the heart to wake you, but I saved you a seat.”
“Thank you?” With a bit of nervous skepticism for the unusual docility from Melissa, you crawl onto the round cushioned pool chair and shiver at the feeling of her hands immediately finding your shoulders.
“I can help with your sunscreen.” She offers with a forceful execution as she is already applying sunscreen to her hands before you have an opportunity to accept the offer. Mel’s hands work the lotion into your screen, lingering on your shoulders and biceps as she speaks casually, “The UVs are already high so I’m gonna read for a bit to tan. You can lay here with me or whatever.”
You shrug and nod, not wanting to seem too overzealous at the prospect of publicly being seen together. “Yeah, sure.”
Your heart was thudding in your chest when she patted your back and said ‘good to go’. There were no examples of public displays of affection between Melissa and you for you to base this interaction off of. Cautiously, you slide down enough to recline back into Mel’s lap.
Rather than confirming your anxious worries of rejection, Melissa shifted to having your head resting on her thigh while she drew up her other knee to rest her book onto. While she wasn’t turning pages in her book, her fingers brushed against your cheeks and forehead or twirled locks of your hair.
Her thoughts must have been wandering elsewhere as she spoke up suddenly, breaking the longstanding, comfortable silence between you, “When we get back, you should meet Barb. You could even come to a family dinner if you wanna.”

Kavitha Surana at ProPublica:
In her final hours, Amber Nicole Thurman suffered from a grave infection that her suburban Atlanta hospital was well-equipped to treat. She’d taken abortion pills and encountered a rare complication; she had not expelled all of the fetal tissue from her body. She showed up at Piedmont Henry Hospital in need of a routine procedure to clear it from her uterus, called a dilation and curettage, or D&C. But just that summer, her state had made performing the procedure a felony, with few exceptions. Any doctor who violated the new Georgia law could be prosecuted and face up to a decade in prison. Thurman waited in pain in a hospital bed, worried about what would happen to her 6-year-old son, as doctors monitored her infection spreading, her blood pressure sinking and her organs beginning to fail. It took 20 hours for doctors to finally operate. By then, it was too late.
The otherwise healthy 28-year-old medical assistant, who had her sights set on nursing school, should not have died, an official state committee recently concluded.
Tasked with examining pregnancy-related deaths to improve maternal health, the experts, including 10 doctors, deemed hers “preventable” and said the hospital’s delay in performing the critical procedure had a “large” impact on her fatal outcome. Their reviews of individual patient cases are not made public. But ProPublica obtained reports that confirm that at least two women have already died after they couldn’t access legal abortions and timely medical care in their state. There are almost certainly others. Committees like the one in Georgia, set up in each state, often operate with a two-year lag behind the cases they examine, meaning that experts are only now beginning to delve into deaths that took place after the Supreme Court overturned the federal right to abortion.
Thurman’s case marks the first time an abortion-related death, officially deemed “preventable,” is coming to public light. ProPublica will share the story of the second in the coming days. We are also exploring other deaths that have not yet been reviewed but appear to be connected to abortion bans. Doctors warned state legislators women would die if medical procedures sometimes needed to save lives became illegal. Though Republican lawmakers who voted for state bans on abortion say the laws have exceptions to protect the “life of the mother,” medical experts cautioned that the language is not rooted in science and ignores the fast-moving realities of medicine.
The most restrictive state laws, experts predicted, would pit doctors’ fears of prosecution against their patients’ health needs, requiring providers to make sure their patient was inarguably on the brink of death or facing “irreversible” harm when they intervened with procedures like a D&C. “They would feel the need to wait for a higher blood pressure, wait for a higher fever — really got to justify this one — bleed a little bit more,” Dr. Melissa Kottke, an OB-GYN at Emory, warned lawmakers in 2019 during one of the hearings over Georgia’s ban. Doctors and a nurse involved in Thurman’s care declined to explain their thinking and did not respond to questions from ProPublica. Communications staff from the hospital did not respond to multiple requests for comment. Georgia’s Department of Public Health, which oversees the state maternal mortality review committee, said it cannot comment on ProPublica’s reporting because the committee’s cases are confidential and protected by federal law.
The availability of D&Cs for both abortions and routine miscarriage care helped save lives after the 1973 Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade, studies show, reducing the rate of maternal deaths for women of color by up to 40% the first year after abortion became legal. But since abortion was banned or restricted in 22 states over the past two years, women in serious danger have been turned away from emergency rooms and told that they needed to be in more peril before doctors could help. Some have been forced to continue high-risk pregnancies that threatened their lives. Those whose pregnancies weren’t even viable have been told they could return when they were “crashing.” Such stories have been at the center of the upcoming presidential election, during which the right to abortion is on the ballot in 10 states.
Thurman, who carried the full load of a single parent, loved being a mother. Every chance she got, she took her son to petting zoos, to pop-up museums and on planned trips, like one to a Florida beach. “The talks I have with my son are everything,” she posted on social media.
But when she learned she was pregnant with twins in the summer of 2022, she quickly decided she needed to preserve her newfound stability, her best friend, Ricaria Baker, told ProPublica. Thurman and her son had recently moved out of her family’s home and into a gated apartment complex with a pool, and she was planning to enroll in nursing school. The timing could not have been worse. On July 20, the day Georgia’s law banning abortion at six weeks went into effect, her pregnancy had just passed that mark, according to records her family shared with ProPublica. Thurman wanted a surgical abortion close to home and held out hope as advocates tried to get the ban paused in court, Baker said. But as her pregnancy progressed to its ninth week, she couldn’t wait any longer. She scheduled a D&C in North Carolina, where abortion at that stage was still legal, and on Aug. 13 woke up at 4 a.m. to make the journey with her best friend.
On their drive, they hit standstill traffic, Baker said. The clinic couldn’t hold Thurman’s spot longer than 15 minutes — it was inundated with women from other states where bans had taken effect. Instead, a clinic employee offered Thurman a two-pill abortion regimen approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, mifepristone and misoprostol. Her pregnancy was well within the standard of care for that treatment. Getting to the clinic had required scheduling a day off from work, finding a babysitter, making up an excuse to borrow a relative’s car and walking through a crowd of anti-abortion protesters. Thurman didn’t want to reschedule, Baker said. At the clinic, Thurman sat through a counseling session in which she was told how to safely take the pills and instructed to go to the emergency room if complications developed. She signed a release saying she understood. She took the first pill there and insisted on driving home before any symptoms started, Baker said. She took the second pill the next day, as directed.
Deaths due to complications from abortion pills are extremely rare. Out of nearly 6 million women who’ve taken mifepristone in the U.S. since 2000, 32 deaths were reported to the FDA through 2022, regardless of whether the drug played a role. Of those, 11 patients developed sepsis. Most of the remaining cases involved intentional and accidental drug overdoses, suicide, homicide and ruptured ectopic pregnancies. Baker and Thurman spoke every day that week. At first, there was only cramping, which Thurman expected. But days after she took the second pill, the pain increased and blood was soaking through more than one pad per hour. If she had lived nearby, the clinic in North Carolina would have performed a D&C for free as soon as she followed up, the executive director told ProPublica. But Thurman was four hours away.
The consequences of draconian abortion bans are being felt, as at least two women in Georgia died over being denied emergency medical care.

I got a little carried away combining three of my @steddiebingo Twelve Days of Christmas Mini-Event prompts, and wrote 16K of omegaverse bullshit. Prompt fills were: 1) cookies, 2) meet cute, and 3) candy canes.
Rating: Explicit | WC: 16K | Tags: Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Alternate Universe - No Upside Down (Stranger Things), Meet-Cute, Omega Verse, Non-Traditional Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics, Omega Eddie Munson, Alpha Steve Harrington, Bottom Eddie Munson, Top Steve Harrington, Barebacking, Oral Sex, Vaginal Fingering, Vaginal Sex, Intersex Omegas, Knotting
Summary: Eddie falls in love with the cookies from a little shop run by a really annoying guy. Definitely just the cookies.
Full fic on AO3.
Tumblr media
Eddie wasn't sure why he had to be the one to pick up the cookies. It was Jeff's mate's baby shower, why couldn't one of her friends have picked them up? He was pissed he even had to go to the baby shower, but Jeff insisted that Melissa would be upset if his only omega friend hadn't shown up to support them.
So Eddie was already in a bad mood when he walked into the cookie shop, and his mood wasn't improved by the long line. It was a kitschy shop he'd never heard of that was somehow able to survive selling only cookies. No other baked goods. No coffee. It looked like there was only one employee working today. Eddie checked his watch. He was gonna be late and Jeff was gonna kill him.
The line moved at a snail's pace. Eddie inched slowly toward the counter, where an unfairly attractive guy was working the register. He looked like he'd be much more at home in a yacht club with his perfectly styled brown hair and form-fitting polo and khakis. Exactly like all the guys who'd made Eddie's teenage years absolute hell. The only sign that he belonged in the cookie shop was the flour-stained bright pink apron he had on over his outfit.
By the time Eddie finally got to the register, the acrid scent of his frustration was bleeding through his dampeners. He'd always been an unfortunately pungent omega. It made it so much harder to hide what he was feeling, which had also contributed to making his teenage years something of a disaster.
"How can I help you?" the employee asked when Eddie got to the register. The employee's calm demeanor in the face of Eddie's rapidly rising panic at how late he was going to be was the last straw for Eddie. He hated nothing more than being faced with someone cool, calm, and collected when he was about to lose his shit.
"Does this place always make customers wait so long, or is it just when you're working," Eddie's eyes flicked down to the guy's name badge, "Steve?"
Steve's eyebrows shot up, but he gave no other visible sign of offense. "Sorry for the inconvenience," he said, in perfect, soulless retail-speak. "It's a busy time of year, and one of my only other employees has the flu. What can I get you?"
Eddie bristled at the brush-off. He crossed his arms over his chest and glared at Steve. "I'm here to pick up an order. For Benson."
Steve nodded. "One second." He turned around and went into a back room. Eddie glanced at his watch again. Even if he sped all the way to Jeff's, he'd still be late.
"Any time this morning would be great!" Eddie yelled after the man.
An old woman in line behind him tutted disapprovingly, but he ignored her. Eddie stared at the cookies in the display case while he waited. Most of them were ridiculously overdone, decorated like fucking cakes or something, but his eyes were drawn to a perfect-looking, simple chocolate chip cookie. His stomach grumbled. He hadn't had time for breakfast that morning.
He was still staring at the cookie when Steve finally walked back up to the register carrying a large box, vacant customer service expression still on his face. Eddie couldn't pick up any scent at all coming from him.
Steve followed Eddie's eyes to the display case, pulling out the cookie Eddie was staring at and placing it in a small bag. "For your trouble," he said, handing the cookie to Eddie with a smile. "I appreciate your patience."
Eddie grabbed the cookie from his hand with a glare. This bozo wasn't gonna be able to win him over with a free cookie and a smile. But also Eddie definitely wasn't going to turn down that cookie. He shoved it in his pocket and picked up the box of baby shower cookies. Jeff had already paid for them.
"Have a good day!" Steve called as Eddie left without a word. "Come again soon!"
Eddie angrily shoved the consolation cookie in his mouth with one hand while he hurried to his car. It was, of course, obscenely good, which only made Eddie more annoyed.
Jeff and Melissa were not pleased when Eddie rolled in thirty minutes late.
"What the hell, Eddie?" Melissa hissed, grabbing the cookies from him. "You've already missed some of the games!"
"Oh, however will I recover," Eddie deadpanned, holding a hand to his heart.
Melissa glared at him, opening the box. Her face instantly lit up. "These are amazing!" she cooed. "You were right, Jeffy, this guy is fantastic!"
Jeff looked over her shoulder at the unnecessarily fancy cookies. "Oh, yeah, look at that. Chrissy was right, this guy's cookies are great."
Eddie snorted. "Well you should tell him, whoever he is, that the customer service at his shop sucks. There was only one employee there, and he was annoying."
Jeff gave him a confused look. "I've only ever seen the owner working there. I don't even know if he has other employees."
"Well, he must," Eddie insisted. "Because there's no way the guy who was there today owns a cookie shop."
Jeff shrugged and changed the subject. "Thanks for picking them up. At least you got them here before the party ended," he teased.
Eddie couldn't stop thinking about that fucking chocolate chip cookie. It was the best cookie he'd ever had. In his entire life. And he considered himself a bit of a cookie connoisseur. Whoever was running that shop knew what they were doing. About cookies, at least. Maybe not about hiring.
He really tried not to go back to the shop, not wanting to chance another encounter with Steve. He went on a cookie journey throughout the city, searching in vain for a comparable chocolate chip experience. But nothing hit the spot quite like that cookie.
Which is how he found himself standing in front of the shop a few weeks after Melissa's shower, trying to peer in through the window to see if that asshole was working again. There were no customers, though, so whoever was working must have been in the back.
Jeff had said it was almost always the owner working, so Eddie decided to take his chances and hope that's who he'd get this time. He took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
A bell tinkled above the door as Eddie breathed in the scent of fresh-baked cookies. "Just a second!" a voice called from a room behind the counter.
Eddie walked to the counter, looking at the cookies. There were plenty of the fancy, decorated cookies that the shop was apparently known for, but also quite a few simple cookies which made Eddie's mouth water.
He looked up as the door behind the counter opened. Steve, the man from before, came out, smiling pleasantly.
Eddie's face fell. "You again?" he groused.
Steve looked confused for a moment, then recognition crossed his face. "Ah," he huffed. "Come to scold me for my poor customer service again?"
These pretty rich kids really thought their shit didn't stink. "Does the owner of this place know you're such a little shit?" Eddie growled.
"I'm the owner of this place," Steve drawled with an amused smile. "Did you like the chocolate chip cookie?"
Eddie's scent soured with annoyance. "Seriously?" he groaned.
"Seriously," Steve replied. He looked way too pleased with himself. A vague scent started to bleed into the air from Steve, surprising Eddie. He had assumed the man was a beta. He was too big for an omega, but he ran a cookie store, a very unorthodox career choice for an alpha.
The scent was a delicate mix of pine and sandalwood, with just a hint of something sharp and sweet that reminded Eddie of candy canes. Eddie was startled to realize he liked it. He hadn't liked the scent of anyone who wasn't in his immediate pack in a really fucking long time. Figured it would happen with a replica of a Ken doll. He probably had the personality of a Ken doll, too.
"Well? Was the cookie good?"Steve prompted when he got no response from Eddie.
"No," Eddie lied.
"Then why are you back?"
As much as Eddie wanted to leave without buying anything, that was a betrayal his stomach wouldn't allow. "My friend. Who had the baby shower. She has really bad taste in cookies so I guess she likes yours. She wants more." It sounded idiotic even to Eddie's ears.
"Sure." Steve smirked. "What does she want? More of the iced cookies? I have some pretty Christmas trees right now." He motioned to the case.
"No," Eddie snapped. "She wants to try the snickerdoodles. And the peanut butter cookies." Eddie paused, trying to rein himself in. He felt the ensuing blurt come directly from his stomach, "And five of the chocolate chip cookies."
Steve raised his eyebrows. "She just knows she's going to want five of them? Even though she's never tried them?"
Eddie swallowed audibly. "Yes. I described them to her. I'm a really talented food narrator."
Steve hummed thoughtfully, getting out a box for the cookies. "How'd you describe them? I'm intrigued."
"Don't remember," Eddie mumbled.
"Oh. Do you wanna try one again now to jog your memory?" Steve held one of the heavenly cookies out to Eddie. The scent wafted into his nostrils. Eddie worried he might start drooling.
"No!" Eddie yelped, batting away the cookie before he lost all self-control. "I told you, I didn't like them."
"Right," Steve said, drawing out the vowel.
"Just give me the cookies," Eddie grumbled, pulling out his wallet.
The corner of Steve's mouth twitched up in an aborted smile as he packed up the rest of the cookies. He cashed Eddie out, handing over the box.
"Hope your friend enjoys," Steve needled.
Eddie grabbed the box and fled.

Melissa had let melody stay home the following day after the incident in the video store. "alright sweetie, im off to work." melissa calls from the front door as it clicks shut.
sometime later a shout of "melody!" was heard from downstairs. Rolling her eyes the girl gets up from her bed and walks down to open the door to reveal stiles standing there. "are you okay? what did you see last night?" stiles asks the girl. Rolling her eyes Melody replies "i'm fine stiles, i didn't see anything." and begins climbing the stairs again.
Stiles who is unhappy with this answer after seeing her shaking form last night closes the front door and begins following the girl up the stairs. she was dressed in just his shirt and a pair of blue panties that peeked out from under the shirt making his breath hitch as he looks away not wanting to perv on the girl.
entering her bedroom melody sat down looking at the boy with an irritated look on her face, he and scott had been hiding something from her since the first day of school and now he wanted information from her?
"please." stiles asks sitting next to her on the bed. Melody smiles and replies "i'll tell you what i saw if you tell me what you and scott have been hiding from me." the blonde attempts to bargain with the boy.
"uh." stiles hesitates not knowing how scott would feel if he revealed that the shaggy haired boy was a werewolf. Sensing the boy’s hesitation and wanting the information the blonde smiled stating "i can get it from you another way."
stiles' brows furrow. "you can?" "uh huh." she answers getting within millimeters from his face before climbing on top of his lap straddling him. stiles breath hitches as he looks at the girl on top of him "oh my god." he whispers 'is this a dream?' he thinks.
"tell me what's going on stiles." melody demands. stiles stays silent and frozen his hands glued to his sides awkwardly causing the blonde to grab the buzzcut boy's hands and placing them on her ass. stiles lets out a moan like sound at the feeling hesitating before squeezing. "come on stiles." the blonde persuades wrapping her arms around the boys neck their faces centimeters apart.
"you tell me what's going on, i tell you what i saw and then we can have some fun." she smiles slowly bringing her hand down his chest and stomach smiling seductively at him. "don't you wanna have fun with me stiles?" she asks lightly as her hands brush his belt buckle.
the boys head nods up and down aggressively as he pulls her closer to him on his lap his hard cock pressing against her barely clothed heat a whimper leaving the girls throat. melody pushes his body onto her bed leaning over him now. "im sitting on top of you in just my underwear with your shirt on stiles, i could easily just take off the shirt.. do you want that?" the blonde asks seductively "yes, god, please." stiles breathes out the girls hands go towards the bottom of her shirt slowly lifting it "please, stiles. just tell me what's going on, im not gonna tell anyone." she asks once again.
"Scott's a werewolf." stiles mumbles out in his fog of desire when her breasts are revealed. melody's eyes widen as she sits up still straddling the boy her shirt lowering "a werewolf?" she asks. stiles nods aggressively "yes, and an alpha is trying to bring him into his pack and make him kill people." the boy mumbled out his hand cupping her face bringing her lips towards his. her breath mixes with his as stiles connects their lips.
Melody’s tongue enters stiles mouth brushing against the boys own tongue. Breaking apart from the boy Melody rips off her shirt and discards it on the floor. Stiles eyes widen as the blondes breasts are exposed again his hands going up to fondle them. Reconnecting their lips stiles pulls the girl closer to his body.
Stiles lips slowly go down towards melody’s neck sucking on the skin to show everyone that they were wrong, he finally got the girl of his dreams, she wanted him and he wasn't gonna let her go. His lips going back up to her mouth stiles whispers “I’ve always wanted you, baby.” Whimpering into the boys mouth Melody replies “me too stiles” in a whisper.
“Stiles.” She whispers again, “you’re wearing too many clothes.” Stiles immediately removes his shirt and she begins to kiss down his naked torso down to his happy trail. “You want me to suck your cock baby?” She whispers making stiles rapidly nod up and down.
Removing stiles belt, jeans and boxers Melody stares at stiles cock before wrapping her hand around the base “it’s so big, baby.” She whispers as his eyes roll into the back of his head at the pleasure.
she begins licking the tip of stiles cock before going down to the base licking a long strip from the bottom to the top just like lydia had spoke about when talking about blowjobs, stiles hands thread through the girls hair as she begins sucking on the boys dick.
moans can be heard coming from the boys mouth until he rips her off right before he cums. melody whimpers in annoyance as she wants to taste his cum but he pulls her back to his lap whispering "i wanna cum inside you, baby."
smiling melody removes her underwear making them both completely naked. arousal coats the blue panties causing stiles to moan as he brings his fingers to her heat feeling a pool of wetness.
"what about a condom?" stiles asks as melody lines herself up with his cock. "i think Scott keeps some in the bathroom." the blonde replies getting off the boy and heading to her and Scott's shared bathroom in search for a condom retrieving one and climbing back on top of the boy their mouths intertwined again.
melody fiddles with the packet opening it and rolling the condom onto stiles before lining herself up with him and sinking down. a large moan erupts from the boys mouth as melody whimpers into his neck from the stretch.
"are you okay?" stiles asks concerned. "yeah baby, im okay." she smiles as she connects their lips again whimpering into the kiss when she lifts herself back up and down again.
after a few minutes the two are moaning messes stiles hips come up to thrust into her as she rides him. "so good stiles." she moans. "perfect. so perfect." he moans back in response.
she clenches around him and stiles assumes that means she's close. "stiles." she whimpers. a loud moan erupts from stiles mouth as a warm sensation fills the blond as stiles orgasms. melody following shortly after.
lifting herself off of stiles cock melody whimpers from the empty feeling. stiles removes the condom heading to the bathroom to dispose of it coming back with a warm wash cloth to clean the girl up. afterwards stiles pulls the girl back towards him holding her close to his body as the blondes phone goes off bringing the two back to reality.
Scott's a werewolf and there's an alpha werewolf running around killing people.
melody opens her phone seeing a message from Lydia. a video of the monster she'd seen last night.
"this is what i saw." melody tells the boy turning the phone towards him. "this is the alpha? isn't it?" she asks. stiles hesitantly nods "i think so." "Lydia." melody mumbles getting out of stiles embrace and walking towards her dresser.
the two redress and head to Lydia's. stiles immensely happy but disappointed that their cuddling had been cut short.
