I didn't mean to break AO3, I swear to god. I just wanted to post two new chapters! That was all!

Again, it's been slow progress, but that's an improvement from no progress! With a new wrench in the bizarre situation Melanie and Henry have found themselves in (a wrench named Laura), there's a shift in the dynamic as they both have to come to terms with shit they had been ignoring and pushing aside in the hopes things would figure themselves out on their own.

Tinker Bell x Stitch

So, I found this random Tumblr post of someone sharing their Phantom Manor pins, and I found something particularly interesting about them. The pins have cast Tinker Bell as Melanie Ravenswood, the bride of Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris, and Stitch as Jake the Foreman, Melanie's ill-fated fiancé. And yes, the pins also have Stitch cast as the Phantom, aka Henry Ravenswood Melanie's cruel father (but we're going to ignore that part).

The thing that got me hooked was the pin where Tinker Bell and Stitch are sitting together, arms linked, on a picnic date. I know, call me “weird” or whatever you'd like, but I thought it was really cute and wholesome for some reason, despite knowing what actually happens to Melanie and Jake on that picnic date.

the way that kathleen’s storyline is one big foreshadow to the storyline of the last of us part 2, and what happens with joel and ellie.

so recap, in episode five of the show, we get the henry, sam, and new character kathleen storyline. in short, henry had kathleen’s brother killed for FEDRA in order to secure medicine to save sam’s life. and kathleen became obsessed with finding henry and killing him for it.

like joel and ellie in part 2, joel is killed, and ellie’s descent into revenge begins.

by the end of episode 5, kathleen is killed. her desire for revenge ultimately leading to her demise, similar to how, by the end of part 2, ellie is alone. without dina, without jj, without two fingers, unable to play guitar, her last connection to joel, who knows her relationship with tommy. she lost everything for the sake of getting back at abby.

in kathleen’s episode, she talks very highly of her brother, calling him her “hero” and a much better person than she ever was and is. basically, her tether to the real world, her anchor. again, similar to joel and ellie. when joel died, ellie lost that anchor, she lost that tether, and it ultimately leads to her destruction.

and then we have kathleen’s monologue:

“he would be horrified by the things i’ve done. and if you’ve come to tell me… that michael (joel) wouldn’t want me to hurt henry (abby)… that he would want me to forgive… i know that too.”

i put the parentheses in for if ellie was to say this, this is how it would fit, because it very much fits her too. joel would not have wanted ellie to throw her life away just to avenge him. he would want her to move on. and she knows it, but like i said, losing joel was ellie’s tether snapping.

it just works so well. too similar to not be foreshadowing.

IT'S AN UPDATE JUMP-SCARE

WELL WELL WELL, look what I managed to do!

It's been slow progress, I won't lie. Life has been a wild rollercoaster for me this year but it's been so, so amazing. I feel like my brain just needed a few months to really catch up, adjust, and ease itself along with all of the new things now that we're in a beautiful semblance of routine now, and here we are. Writing, again, however slowly.

Can't promise it'll be regular updates, or that if they are some kind of regular that they'll last a while, BUT. Makin' hay while the sun shines and so on and so on.

Thank you all so so much for your continued patience, your interest, your love and kudos, your kind words, and your amazing fanart, even!! It's been incredible. Please take good care of yourselves, as much as you're able <3 You deserve it.
