yeah ok reblogs this again because literally youre so right and i know because i am demiromantic and have always liked the idea of romance and yearned for it but didnt get anywhere for the longest time. i could only really see it with friends, and even then, to this day i struggle to tell if i was actually getting crushes on these people or if i just thought i was because i thought that's what youre supposed to do and what i wanted.

so i'm just kinda pointing frantically at this post like OMG THAT'S ME!

i think the reason karkat is seemingly prone to getting crushes on everybody is more so that he craves any kind of romance and is convincing himself there are feelings because "if it was going to happen, i'd rather it be with this person i already have some sort of connection with" (thing i have constantly thought), rather than him just falling for everyone he meets. it's a blend, i think, some of them are "convincing myself of it for the sake of having a crush", and some are actual "we're really close and i've reached the level where there's actual attraction" (the jade thing being the former like you said, something like the terezi one would be the latter)

and the best part about it is i'm not even projecting this is actual textual stuff so the fact that i'm drawing similarities between me and my favorite character isn't even idealism or misinterpretation WOOHOO

i think karkat is demiromantic and allow me to explain

he struggles with romance, not feeling any romantic attraction, but wishing he did. all his romantic attractions are with people he definitely had a strong connection with. jade is an odd one out, but there wasn’t much show for karkat really having a crush on jade, so it was probably an “i want to be attracted to someone” short lived crush that lasted a day. actually the “jade crush” proves my point further. he didn’t know john for long when his hatecrush developed, but he did watch him throughout his life and thought him to be the reason to their downfall, so i think that’s a pretty strong connection. terezi was one of his closest friends so that one makes sense.

but the best example i have for karkat being demi is, and i hate to say it, davekat. the first meteor ride, nothing happened, but the retconned one, the one where they were able to get to bond better because things were calmer, karkat becomes romantically attracted to him.

im fucking crying laughing oh my god so @flashbang619 is playing botw on call rn and we were doing a funny voice bit for the like monks at the end of the shrines and we said shit like “by the way link congrats on the gender, i heard about your new pronouns and i thought it was pretty pog” but like in a funny voice and then we were joking about not knowing what the spirit orbs were theyre just kinda funny purple magic circles and so i went “i think it’s a grape. i think you have to make wine with it” and @ube-kid was like “or maybe juice, or raisins” and i was like “fortunately theres a lot of them all around hyrule so you can experiment as you see fit. or as you see fruit. …i see fruit right now” and we FUCKING LOST IT im legit not even posting this for notes i just want to be able to remember this bit. god i havent laughed so hard in awhile. i fucking love life

The way I use social media, the like button is nearly meaningless. People say shit like “use it to mark your favorite posts or support people”, but since the beginning of my time on the internet I understood it as “like it if you liked it” and I generally try to be pleasant and kind and let people know I saw things if I like them. So my ‘likes’ tab on twitter, or my ‘liked videos’ playlist on youtube? Utterly useless, utterly meaningless. Also, it turns out YouTube caps your “liked videos” playlist at 5,000 videos so I can never scroll back to the very first video I ever liked because it got pushed out by new likes. And I’ve been on social media for years and years so it is too late to retrain myself. I generally use likes to mean “hey i saw this and wanted you to know” or “hey good job on that post” or “i agree with/support you”

This is also sort of what my ‘melancholy favs’ tag has become except one level up. It’s a bit more effort than just tapping a button, and it involves liking the post enough to reblog it, but the way I’ve ended up using it, ‘melancholy facs’ is little more than a personal ‘good job’ to the OP. (and sometimes a means of sort-of-more-easily finding a post i wanted to see again, but that’s not reliable). It isn’t for any organizational purpose such as how “melancholy heckin favs” means “ultimate favorite posts, i actually look at this tag to cheer me up”.

Which is why I appreciate things like Tumblr’s extensive tagging/tag search system (you know, when search actually works) or Instagram’s saving posts to collections. (Twitter, unfortunately, falls short in this area, you can save tweets to a page called ‘bookmarks’ but theres no further organization than that, they all end up in one place. I still use it for ultimate favorite fanart, reference posts, acnh custom designs, etc, but it’s difficult to navigate when I’ve got a years worth of epic shit in there and it’s all lumped together, even chronologically because my perception of time is so fucked)

I dunno, I guess the point is that I definitely overuse the like button but it’s because I’m nice and I want people to know I’m seeing their stuff or whatever.

there seems to be some confusion about this. nepeta leijon is my intellectual property, and mine alone. all of my headcanons are 100% legitimate, where as yours are all laughably fake. there is no room for interpretation whatsoever in nepeta. not even a little bit.
