Back on my shit private life au shit. While ekko is a part of true damage he also sings songs on the side (say that ten times fast). That being said, die hard fans of ekko really like a one off song, and you'll never guess what that song is, ma meilleure enemies.

In this universe it's about a fight ekko and jinx had before getting together because of misunderstandings. They fought eachother for a while before leading to an actual fistfight where they came back to the last drop with beaten faces, bruised knuckles, and holding hands.

The song would have came out back when they where in highschool, so true damage, seraphine, and ekkos other friends while they know of it, have never really listened to it. And it's in French cause that's the first language ekko and jinx learned together and was part of the misunderstanding.

Now I just don't know if I should put jinx having done the vocals for it or have one of their friends have done it in place of her. Either way I want jinx to be mainly known for her smarts.

Like using jesuismoi5oo third chance idea of medical and fix it shimmer. Make it jinxs work in college and her thesis. Probably so that what happened to insulin doesn't happen to medical shimmer she'll patent it and work with silco, the loving father and the businessman, to create factories or sell production rights. Let that be what she's known for.

Some context for this Arcane inspired AU:

Alastor suddenly gets sent into a different timeline where Vox never changed and stayed as his old vintage self. They did team up and are partners and Alastor is also not on a leash in this universe.

Alastor gets the chance to properly fall for Vox in this timeline and he doesn’t miss the original one he came from…but all good things come to an end so without a warning Alastor does end up getting warped back into the original timeline he came from after a while.

My favorite thing about Ma Meilleure Ennemie is that, while it's played at the climax of Ekko's romance with AU Powder, the song itself is actually a conversation between Ekko and Jinx.

Or rather, it's the conversation of the things Ekko and Jinx want to say to each other, but never do (maybe they had something like it when Jinx was staying at the Firelight base, but I sort of doubt it).

So if we take Pomme's lyrics as Jinx speaking, there's one line in particular that I find really interesting.

Je t'avais dit : "Ne regarde pas en arrière" (I told you: "Don't look back")

Le passé qui te suit te fait la guerre (Your past will follow you and wage war on you)

This is Pomme/Jinx's last solo line and it's soooo heartbreaking to me. Because this is basically Jinx summarizing her arc in season 2. No matter how she tried to escape it, or what she did to try to put it behind her, the consequences of her past actions "followed her and waged war" on her.

And this acknowledgement and understanding plus the "Don't look back" line really feels like it's what Jinx must be thinking as she's leaving Piltover for unknown horizons.

This is basically her way of saying goodbye to Ekko.

yes I'm a huge timebomb fan yes I squealed and laughed and cried during their scenes in act 3 yes the au episode was my favourite and i am constantly listening to ma meilleure ennemie on repeat, and yes, i was disappointed that ekko's character had barely any development outside of his relationship with powder/jinx, yes i was disappointed with how his tree subplot never got proper closure and how the firelights and his community and trauma and other relationships were just completely neglected and continue to be both by the writers and fandom, we exist.

Can we talk about the timebomb and jayvik parallels because I just still can’t believe my luck that my two favourite arcane ships got a) so much screentime in s2, and b) so strongly paralleled with each other. I mean I’m sure I don’t need to point out how the timebomb we see in s2e7 is hmmmm a familiar dynamic:

two brilliant young scientists

hextech research partners

distinguished innovators

guided/mentored by heimerdinger

they grow c l o s e through their work

doomed to be separated by the narrative

HOWEVER that’s only a s1 jayvik parallel… but the cool thing is that timebomb are a jayvik s2 parallel even outside of s2e7! The timelines are all over the place but it WORKS bear with me ok

Ma Meilleure Ennemie

Previous to s2e7 ekko sees jinx as an enemy. He seems committed to viewing her this way but it’s clear that he’s conflicted about her, and they had a tension-charged fight scene where the complexity between them was front and centre.

Meanwhile, for the latter half of s2 Jayce is trying hard to accept that Viktor is his enemy - he even attempts to kill him - despite his conflicted feelings. They have a tension-charged fight scene where it’s clearly far more complex than just plain enemies, as Viktor is still trying to reconcile with Jayce up until the end.

‘The powder you knew is dead’/‘my partner died in this room’.

When ekko gets back from the AU he is fighting to get to jinx and make her see that she’s on the wrong path, and ultimately it’s his acceptance of jinx and the fact that he still cares despite everything she’s done that gets through to her and reconnects them.

In s2e9 Jayce is fighting to get to Viktor and make him see that he’s on the wrong path, and ultimately it’s his acceptance of Viktor and the fact that he still cares despite everything he’s done that gets through to him and reconnects them!!!!

S2e7 timebomb is s1 jayvik but main timeline timebomb is s2 jayvik send tweet 😤
