My take/version of the families/ships in the Adventure 02 Epilogue for my WIP: Part 1
Digimon was one of the many shows of my childhood. Despite the fact that none of my ships were "canon" in the epilogue (RIP Taiora, Takari, Daikari, Koumi, hell maybe Jyouora or Jyoumi), I still didn't mind it. My main issues were with many of the professions (mostly with the female characters, who all had ideal, stereotypical, feminine jobs).
Anyway, here's how I have the families play out for my WIP. Under the cut are the Adventure 01 kids (minus TK and Kari).
Tai and Meiko:
Okay, so don't kill me, but I thought/think they were/could be cute. There's potential here, and since Taiora didn't happen, why couldn't they? The stares and nods in the beginning of Tri were cute! Hot-heated leader x shy, new girl could learn a lot from one another. They both have a tendency to blame themselves for things out of their control, they both had their Digimon partners digivolve uncontrollably (on multiple occasions). Tri left crumbs for these two, they just weren't aware that the crumbs were stale lmao.
Tai would go pro in soccer, retire, and eventually become a Digiworld field agent for the National Data Processing Bureau; transporting back and forth and responding to Digimon related emergencies both in the Digiworld and the human world. He'd eventually move up and become a Special Agent in Charge in the Digiworld Enforcement division.
Meiko works at the Digital Center for Virus Control and Prevention as the Executive Assistant Director, to ensure other Digimon don't become infected like Meicoomon.
They have one son together, named Makoto.
Sora and Matt:
Again, don't kill me, but even as a Taiora shipper, Sorato could make sense.
Fashion design for Sora was definitely...a choice. I'm all for Sora becoming more in tuned with her femininity, just not at the cause of her actual character and interests. So instead, I'd have her go pro in Tennis. Afterwards, she'd help her mother run the flower shop. She would also be a volunteer agent for the NDPB, stepping in for emergencies when needed.
Matt manages to stick with a band and finds relative success, partly due to being one of the OG Digidestined. Afterwards, the band retires and Matt goes solo for a bit, he even releases a pop-rock collab with Mimi. He eventually throws in the towel and launches his own music label and opens a listening bar with live music from his own acts. He occasionally performs there if he's feeling nostalgic. Like his wife, he too is a volunteer agent for the NDPB.
Despite their stubbornness, which made their marriage a bit rockier than most, the two are still happily married with two kids; a daughter named Mizuki and a son named Shinji.
Izzy and Mimi:
Now, unlike the other two, these two would get together somewhat unconventionally (and angsty).
Initially, Mimi would marry Michael while Izzy married another woman. Mimi would be an idol, a worldwide celebrity with many ventures in the entertainment industry (a book biography on the events of Digimon Adventure from her POV, a cooking show where she invites celebrities, an occasional voice actress, performed in quite a few live theatre productions, owns a fashion line, etc.)! An actor and singer well known in both worlds, both in America and Japan, on top of being one of the Original 12 Digidestined who is a volunteer agent whenever an emergency strikes. She even became an ambassador, to meditate between the Digital World and the human world seeing as she was the one to rally allies toward the end of Adventure. Michael, being the son of a famous action star already, would eventually get tired of all the attention it came with being her husband (not to mention how busy her hectic schedule is). This would lead to Mimi and Michael bickering, which would lead to resentment, which would then lead to divorce.
All the while, Izzy and his unnamed wife, who he had met in college, would be happily married until her untimely death in a car accident. Umeko was only three years old. For a while, Izzy buried himself in his work as the new head of the Digital World Cybersecurity division at the NDPB, as well as being a scientist and researcher at the Digital Center for Virus Control and Prevention, being a television Digital Consultant, and giving an occasional lectures at universities. Mimi, in the midst of her divorce, would reach out to an overworked Izzy. While Izzy denied it, Mimi would offer a helping hand or just an ear for him to vent to. Izzy's cold and distant shell eventually cracked, and the two bonded over their tumultuous marriages and busy work schedules. The two officially started dating two years prior to the events of the Epilogue, and remarried when Umeko (Izzy's biological daughter, who he calls Mech for short) was 8 and Akihiko (Mimi and Michael's biological son) was 9, a year prior to the beginning of the WIP.
Both Umeko and Akihiko were fine with their parents remarrying, and accepted each other as siblings seeing as they were friends prior. Mimi and Michael are now civil (as are Michael and Izzy) and Akihiko and Michael speak almost every day. Occasionally, he visits his dad in America during the holidays.
Joe:
Joe's pretty easy. He married the girlfriend he was dating in Digimon Adventure Tri, the bike girl from the Digimon Adventure 02 movie. He and Chieko (the name I'm giving her) both become family doctors, while Joe also becomes one of the first human doctors with Digimon patients.
They have one son together, named Yuji.

I think I’ve figured out the reason why I prefer Meiko’s Meicoomon over Wallace/Willis’ Lopmon.
If you’ve been in the digimon fandom long enough you’ve probably seen/hear comparisons between Wallace/Willis’ Lopmon from Hurricane Touchdown and Meiko’s Meicoomon from tri.
The similarities between both of them that plenty of digimon fans have pointed out are that they are both partner digimon with uncontrollable evolved/digivolved (or in Meicoomon’s case mutated) forms with their respective human partners going through character arcs about realising that for as much as they love their partner digimon and how much it pains them to do so, they’re too dangerous to let live so they end up letting them die to save everyone and put them out of their misery (I have seen some people compare Meicoomon to Yujin's Offmon but I feel Offmon is more comparable to Ryo’s Monodramon and I’ve already made a rant comparing those two). Keep in mind that for this comparison I’m only looking at the partner digimon themselves and not their human companions since I actually like both Wallace/Willis and Meiko which unfortunately I cannot say the same for the partner digimon and I’m going to go over where I felt Meiko’s Meicoomon succeeded where Wallace/Willis’ Lopmon failed. And the reasons are actually a lot more simple than you’d think. My biggest problem with Lopmon and by extension Hurricane Touchdown as a whole is how little character and personality Lopmon has outside of the fact that he’s a partner digimon under the effects of a virus and having undergone a dark evolution/digivolution which can be attributed to how little screentime Lopmon’s personality outside of his dark evolution/digivolution. That aspect of Lopmon’s character only gets two scenes dedicated which is strange given that Lopmon’s dark evolutions/digivolutions get plenty of screen time which can be attributed to bad pacing on Hurricane Touchdown's part. I do think it’s a little weird how I seem to be the only person who has this complaint with Lopmon that I know of.
First is the flashback involving Wallace/Willis, Terriermon and Lopmon’s backstory and how he turned into Wendimon/Wendigomon.
And the second being before he dies and... that’s all we get to see of what Lopmon’s character is like outside of his dark evolutions/digivolutions. The only two personality traits I could get from both of these scenes are that he’s childlike and playful which doesn’t even enough to stand out amongst the other partner digimon in the adventure continuity since plenty of other partner digimon have shown traits of being childlike and playful (as well as those two traits not even being their only character traits including Meicoomon). I’m a firm believer in the idea that there is a huge difference between a character being simple (for example Jo/Joe’s Gomamon comes to mind as while being undeniably simple, as he’s rather brash, confident and loud to contrast his partner) and a character being underwritten (I’ve already criticised Ryo’s Monodramon for more or less the same thing before) and unfortunately in a story where we are supposed to feel sad when Lopmon dies I don’t think it’s an unreasonable thing to criticise said story if the character dying doesn’t have much character to begin with.
In comparison Meicoomon has plenty of scenes where we get to see what her character is like outside of the fact that she’s the source of the infection and how her mutations have much more violent personalities. The first 20 minutes of part 2 of tri being a great example of this since even when we limit ourselves to just the first quarter of determination since we see multiple different traits of Meicoomon such as her having a tendency to wonder off on her own, being easily scared, playful, being rather dependent on Meiko and naive despite being an adult/champion level. These aren’t even the only times we get to see the traits as they are more consistent than you’d think since we actually do see them again in later points in tri including flashbacks.
I don’t think it takes a genius to see where I’m coming from since a lot of the points I made in Meicoomon’s favour can basically be attributed to the fact that Hurricane Touchdown is only a single movie whereas tri is 6 OVAs (or 26 episodes if you’re watching it on a streaming service like crunchyroll and other examples that I don’t feel like typing down). I feel like another contributor is the fact that when we first see Lopmon in Hurricane Touchdown he’s already dark evolved/digivolved into Wendimon/Wendigomon whereas when we first see Meicoomon in tri it’s kept a mystery as to what her importance to the plot is which is why she gets so much more screentime dedicated to establishing what her character is like compared to Lopmon who only gets a single flashback and 1 scene afterwards.
Because of this, it’s way easier to get sad over Meicoomon’s death since we actually get a decent amount of screen time to what her personality and character is like outside of the infection (which is still a simple character mind you, but being a simple character is not the same as being badly and/or underwritten).
A point I have seen some people made in Lopmon’s favour in comparison to Meicoomon that I don’t really seem to get is that when Lopmon dies he briefly becomes Cherubimon (Virtue) before disappearing whereas Meicoomon doesn’t briefly become Rasielmon when she dies. The reason I don’t get this criticism towards Meicoomon is that the people I’ve seen make this complaint claim that her not becoming Rasielmon means she wasn’t purified when she died even though Meicoomon appearing in her regular non mutated self could also be interpreted as her being purified since that’s what Meicoomon is like when she’s not a rampaging mutated digimon. Gonna be honest this complaint feels more like an excuse to complain about a lesser known digimon not getting their anime debut in a scene where if that did happen... you’d change absolutely nothing about the story other than Rasielmon waving goodbye to Meiko (a digimon Meiko’s never seen before mind you) instead of Meicoomon before disappearing. Honestly if Cherubimon (Vice) briefly turned back into Lopmon instead of Cherubimon (Virtue), you’d change absolutely nothing about Hurricane Touchdown’s plot since Cherubimon reverting back into Lopmon could still be interpreted as him being purified anyways. I dunno this complaint feels very surface level and difficult for me to agree with given the points I’ve made. Anyways TLDR: the reason why I feel Meiko’s Meicoomon is better written than Wallace/Willis’ Lopmon is that Lopmon is extremely underwritten outside of the fact that he’s a partner digimon under the effects of dark evolution/digivolution and that digimon’s personality and character outside of that has way too little screentime anyways whereas Meiko’s Meicoomon doesn’t have the same problems. I don’t really know what else to type here.

happy late halloween; i got an digimon AU which is an crossover AU with left 4 dead 1 and 2 ((thankfully it has a happy ending))
where bad digimon wants to take over both the human/real world and the digital world with a army of infected zombified humans and digimon and the infection acts different on digimon like a way more agressive virus that also remodels the body while in this sorry state;
a young adult human fem tamer who was intended to bound a certain digimon who sacrificed himself few decades ago when she was a little girl and one of the ones who are fully immune to the infection; will get a 2nd chance to bound with her long lost partner she thought that she might never see and bound with him again after she found out that she could become a tamer of the choosen one type 15 years ago, in the most unexpected way as possible:
one day when she was surviving while currently hiding on a tv station, the same one where her partner died this years ago... she was trying to get food and drinks from a vending machine and after failing to get it; she begans to cry and wish to things come back to normal, that the digimon who were meant to be her partner to be alive and here with her and/or she gets an digimon to stay with her and to someone help her as without her knowing her crest(s) did a faint shine as her tears fall on the floor and reaches on some mysterious yet familiar data fragments and her vital bracelet and smartphone act up strangely for a moment;
when suddently a group of infected came to attack her and to her horror an special infected ogremon came to get her when suddently she hears an angry screech like roar and gazes at something made of data being rebuilt and soon revived but... as... a undead and a special infected (a hunter)!
as a now fully formed 4ft tall hooded hoodie wearing figure with sunken glowing but familiar jade green eyes, long and now very messy dirty/straw blonde hair that seems to be down, clawed hands what are visible on the torn finger tips of his leather gloves, and clawed feet poking out from his matching leather boots, his teeth are way more sharper than they were before, the pale yellow with red details jumpsuit got some parts torn; his once pale grey cloth skin with a blue tint is now paler, has a teal tint instead and is way more stitched up than before; the stitches on his mouth got realocated to the corners of his mouth and his signature skull wizard hat is nowhere to be seen... could it be?! wizardmon?!
when the infected digimon that just emerged attacks the other before it could do anything with tamer s/o with a combination of hunter attack and magic, furiously taking it down;
after defeating the special infected digimon, s/o slowly approaches and at same time keeps her distance, will he attack her next?, does he knows and even maybe still remembers her?
but he shows no signs of being a threat and slowly approaches her as he grabs his hood and covers his face further, he dosen't want to she see at the lower half of his face, specially like this, as she began to cry of not just happiness and wonder what just happened and how did he revived but like this and at same time she is so sad and heartbroken when he notices her sorrow, approaches and comforts her and even gets everything from the vending machines to her, he remembers and reconizes s/o, his best friend gatomon and the other digidiestined, but he lost most of his memories of his past and partially dosen't know who he was;
and she gladly hugs and fully bounds with the partner she tought she was never going to see again and neither be parterned with as a digivice finally emerges after so long.
and now she and her partner and the other digidestined plus meiko with a now a also friendly special infected reanimated meicoomon who became a witch version of herself (she is inbetween the normal and saltation form, her fur is messy, her lime green eyes glow and are sunken, she has sharper teeth and claws, and her hand paw claws are longer like her saltation form but they are black with red stripes), they will be joined with the help of other friendly digimon infected or not including some friendly special infected humans who will be bound with partners of their own in the future, must save both worlds, cure the infection, find out about s/o's digidestined powers including the one that has the power to bring back the dead back to life that are will evetually fully develop ("cell reanimation"), make things right and come back to normal; find a cure and make wiz, mei and their new and old friendly infected friends change back to normal and become fully alive again and help them retrive their lost memories;
and defeat the responsibles behind this madness.
Happy late Halloween to you too!
This sounds pretty cool! You have a fun au idea

You know I actually never realized this before-- so you remember how tri. retconned Original Chosen fighting and defeating Apocalymon into them fighting the Dark Masters instead? (To be fair it is possible they could've ALSO fought Apocalymon afterwards but that isn't the Epic Final Showdown tri. decided to depict so it's borderline a retcon)
If the Original 5 Chosen fought and defeated the Dark Masters once in the distant past, doesn't that mean that
A) They survived and hid for just a few thousand years until they came back for a Round 2 at conquering the world
B) They died, were reborn, and THEN went for the Round 2
You know I've just DYING with curiosity, desperately wanting to know if any of the villians in Adventure would ever be reborn after Adventure, right. Because according to the lore they should, right (unless their data was like somehow absorbed by Apocalymon and destroyed along with him (though that would still leave Piemon as an exception (and Vamdemon but we all know what happened to him) and the sole survivor))
And what tri. has essentially done is confirm that most of them should, in fact, be reborn sooner or later
But that just raises the question of if Apocalymon was lowkey driving the Dark Masters nuts (as suggested by the novels), and if tri. was kind of about destroying the last remnants of Apocalymon's data (within Meicoomon), if they were reborn this time would they be free of Apocalymon's influence
If so, would their third (?) lives then turn out different? Would they still try to take over the world all over again for funsies (this time just without Apocalymon giving them power etc), or were they just the same as Ken was in Zero Two? I mean Apocalymon was supposed to be a spawn of Milleniummon and Ken was infected with Mille's malice directly, so while it may have been a bit filtered it was still the same source of malice and corruption, right
And like regardless of how their next lives would turn out, shouldn't the kids (OR AT THE VERY FUCKING LEAST GENNAI) like realize that this is going to happen eventually and like. Go and see if they can find them (either as their pre-Ultimate forms or even when they're still in their Eggs) and try to figure out what to do BEFORE shit hits the fan
I JUST
#Sorry I'm rewatching the second half of Adventure while working (it improves my focus actually) and#Oh the brainworms are real#Text post#I'm sorry I'm just thinking about Pinocchimon. My sweet poor murder child just needed friends 😭#But even if he was reborn without the craving for blood- who would be friends with him. After all he did in his past life#Who would want to be friends with him. Who would forgive him#IS HE GONNA BE DOOMED TO BE ALONE FOREVER. I'M 😭😭😭#Meanwhile for all we know Piemon is still stuck in that other dimension 10 years later lmao#Depending on if tri.'s reboot ever affected him at all or not because god fucking knows we'll never find out#(Or if he even COULD be affected by the reboot to begin with. God knows Wizarmon seemed to be fucking IMMUNE to it)#(Even though it was supposed to reset EVERYBODY)#But also that could have horrifying implications too if Piemon was just left to cook overnight with a part of Apocalymon#Like Apocalymon is just a collection of grudge and hate from Digimon who've gone extinct right#What's stopping that part of Apocalymon from just restarting the collection of hatred and grudge all over again#This time using Piemon as a vessel to just contain it#Like Apocalymon came from beyond the Wall of Fire to begin with so it's not like dimensional barriers should stop him either#I mean the good news is that there probably haven't been that many Digimon species that've gone extinct after Adventure#But still kids. Y'all might have a timebomb on your hands#Edited to remove some of excessive cursing lmao. I was feeling very intense when writing this sorry lmao

In general, looking back on Digimon Adventure Tri, I feel like this series was mystery boxing and I'm kind of mad about it.
For those unaware, mystery boxing is a form of storytelling that many creators do, but that is best summarized by a philosophy espoused by J.J. Abrams, based on a literal mystery box he purchased and never opened.
Picture a box. What's inside of it? Who knows. Could be anything. Could be gold. Could be chicken. Could be the secrets of the universe. Could be useless plastic doodads. As long as the box remains closed, it has infinite potential. But as soon as you open the box, the mystery vanishes. All you're left with is an answer. And no answer can ever be as satisfying as the intrigue of infinite potential.
In a mystery box story, the questions are more important than the answers. They'll throw mystery after mystery at the audience, often with no actual answer in mind, just to keep you hooked by the intrigue and waiting to see if maybe they'll start explaining things next episode.
What is the corruptive infection that seeps out of Meicoomon? MYSTERY.
Meicoomon's forms aren't evolution, so what are they? MYSTERY.
What is the Apocalymon shard and where did it come from? MYSTERY.
Who is Yggdrasil and why have we never heard of him? MYSTERY.
Why are all the other Chosen Children disappearing and where are they going? MYSTERY.
Was Jou's girlfriend real? MYSTERY.
The Digimon Kaiser is back!? How!? What!? How!? MYSTER-- Oh, no, it's just Dark Gennai who looks like that sometimes for MYSTERY.
Wait, Dark Gennai!? How!? What!? How!? MYSTERY.
Etc. etc. A lot of these things do get answered, but it never really feels like the answers were a priority for the show. Like, the answer to "How did the Digimon Kaiser return" is literally "He didn't, we were just fucking with you." And so what few answers we do get often wind up being unsatisfying. Because the answers were never the point. They show was always just fucking with you to create intrigue.
Like. I threw Jou's girlfriend in there as a joke. But. Like. Okay. Walk with me here.
Jou's girlfriend is a very unimportant part of the story, but look at the way she's handled. The show introduces the idea of her. Then it has multiple characters sit around and speculate as to the nature of her. And then it ends inconclusively, having never properly answered the question of Joe's girlfriend.
That's not the problem. The problem is that this is how it handles the important plot elements too. The show would rather sit there and try to speculate as to what its story might be than actually tell a coherent story to the audience. Everything that happens in the show is Jou's girlfriend.

As something fun for odaiba day this year. I decided to do a voice actor joke With digimon adventure characters. The characters I chose are pretty cure and Sailor Moon because this year also is celebrating those series as well. I’ve started with the older six because this project was a little bit more overwhelming than I thought it would be, so expect 6 tomorrow and Thursday.
Taichi from the reboot series shares a voice with Cure Dream/Nozomi from Precure 5 gogo! Both are voiced by Yuko Sanpei.
Sora in tri./Kizuna and Cure Earth from Healin Good precure are both voiced by Mimori Suzuko.
Yamato in tri./Kizuna and Kappard from Star Twinkle Precure are voiced by Hosoya Yoshimasa. When star twinkle pretty cure first aired. I couldn’t get the thought of Yamato in kappards get up out of my mind.Lol
Koushirou in tri./kizuna and Daruizen from Healing Good precure are voiced by Mutsumi Tamura. Imagine Koushirou spreading the infection and not Meicoomon! 😭
Mimi in OG Adventure and Cure Aqua from Precure 5 Gogo! Are voice Ai Maeda, aka AIM! A notable mention. She also voiced Sailor Pluto in the sailor moon Crystal series.
Jou in the dub for tri./kizuna and tuxedo mask in the sailor moon crystal dub are voiced by Robbie Daymond. And we thought jou was attractive before! 😂 Jou in the reboot also shares a voice with coco from precure 5 gogo! Takeshi Kusao also voices Kiriha from Xros Wars. Imagining Kiriha as this cute little animal amuses me

The problem of posting my own wild guesses/speculations is that in the past some idiot stole my wild theory of the 02 kids being infected by Meicoomon (?) virus and used it as fake leaks for ▽ pt5.
If someone steal any bullet of my wild guessing about Rui to say BS i will snap.

A Summary of Repeatverse {if not Tri as a whole}
Repeat!Daisuke, holding up a Not Great Drawing: Well, basically, to stop the Virus, which Meicoomon was Infected with, from being spread further amongst the Digimon, your group 'originally', in 2005, went off to the Digital World to beat up, and get information out of, one of the key guys who first appeared, that "Alphamon"... then the fake Kaiser showed up!... then the older "Gennai"! Jou: T-Those {drawings} look nothing like them!! Mimi, EXCITED: No, I kind of see it!! Repeat!Ken, Helpfully Adding as Daisuke holds up more drawings: But Alphamon wasn't necessarily a wholly "bad" Digimon, {though Alphamon DID Get up to a Lot of Things...} and the "Kaiser" was a fake who ended up 'being' that "Gennai", who was ALSO a fake. Repeat!Daisuke: So you realized that the guy who's extremely evil was {Holding up scribbled Drawing!!} "Yggdrasil", who has a role in 'maintaining' the supposed "balance" of the Digital World, along with {Holding up Another Drawing} "Homeostasis", that 'being' who keeps trying to possess Hikari-chan! Repeat!Miyako, ADDING: "Homeostasis" also realized "Yggdrasil" was extremely evil and is trying to fight Yggdrasil for control to 'maintain' the "balance", but that makes "Homeostasis" something like our 'enemy' now too, regardless of its original "intentions" being 'good' or not! Repeat!Daisuke: THATS SO SIMPLE THEN!!! REPEAT!DAISUKE, FIRED UP: DEFEAT YGGDRASIL!!!!! A.U!Koushiro: (*facefaulting, along with Taichi by side*) {'I-It's not quite that simple, but let's go along with this for now, then.'}

The infection
After doing my review of the movie there were several things I had doubts about. One of them is the infection.
What was the point of the infection in the first place? (let’s forget about momentary plot reasons/audience emotional trigger and focus on the big picture here). Is Meicoomon perpetually infected and able to infect others? Is Meicoomon/Ordinemon now controlling the digimon through a similar mechanism? Or is the infection plot over and this is a completely diferent thing? If so, and we’re back to the first question, what’s the point of the infection in the big picture?

DigiWeek 2021 Day 6: Dream
My take on this topic of the day is exploring a portion of Takeru’s anger issues and PTSD in 02 and how it keeps haunting him in Tri (even after supposedly understanding the notion of light and darkness and being able to communicate his feelings to his friends). In other words, a headcanon.
The always chill Takeru turns out to repress his negative feelings beneath his happy facade. It is difficult to know Takeru’s true feelings since he mostly behaves like a likable person in front of his peers (even for someone antsy like Daisuke). The moment Takeru explodes, everyone are shocked to see the other side of him.
Gone are his friendly and likable persona. Takeru now behaves like a short-fused boy coming out of nowhere. He is not hesitate to impose his own feelings to his peers in forceful manner, even becoming violent for the sake of it. It also what causes his fight with Daisuke (two times in Episode 11) and almost jeopardizing his friendship with Hikari in Episode 13. The most horrifying moment is the infamous Episode 19 where Takeru insults Digimon Kaizer for abusing the power of darkness without knowing the consequences before dominating him in the fight. Fast forward to Holy Stone arc, BlackWarGreymon’s tireless rampage in destroying Holy Stones infuriates Takeru so much that he decides to kill BlackWarGreymon with cold blood. Regardless of the fact that BlackWarGreymon may have a soul, he shrugs it and declares that BlackWarGreymon deserves to die. Takeru’s actions perturbs Iori so much and it complicates their effort to reach Jogress Evolution. Hence Takeru’s reaction when confronted by Iori is simply denying his hatred to darkness by saying something contrary. And go back to his smiling self afterwards.
I am curious about Takeru’s anger issues+PTSD during 02 and decides to explore it more. During the exploration, I find out that Takeru’s anger issues is not merely caused by power of darkness (and the abuse on such power). It stems from his digimon partner: Patamon.
(marked as Read More since this is long text).
Power of darkness is terrifying in its own, but what makes Takeru go batshit like a different person is his traumatic experience in Adventure: witnessing Angemon’s sacrifice in defeating Devimon. While it was true that Patamon was reborn as digitama, it was a long process for Takeru to be able to meet him again (post-rebirth, he mostly spent his time as Tokomon until Taichi got separated from the group). That is why Takeru will never let Patamon separated from him anymore. Losing Patamon is something like a nightmare for him; he somewhat has a dream to be together with his precious people forever. His parents’ divorce also traumatizes him and this is also something that BelialVamdemon uses against him in Episode 49.
For Patamon’s safety (regardless of the fact that protecting their human partners is the duty of every human-partnered digimon), Takeru is willing to berate Daisuke who is hesitating at the prospect of killing a brainwashed digimon partner (though Daisuke also has a point that time). I guess the moment Takeru ditches the rescuing mission and engages a fistfight against the Kaizer also serves as a revenge for Kaizer’s attempt in brainwashing Patamon with the new Evil Spiral Ring (not only upon seeing Devimon’s data being loaded by the villain). And Episode 34 shows Takeru’s nightmare about losing Patamon (as Angemon).
Episode 37 is the moment where Takeru can finally ease off about the power of darkness. That darkness is not always bad. It serves as a balance of the light. And not losing the light inside the heart is important. It also shows how Takeru starts to treat Ken as friends (by calling him Ichijouji-kun rather than simply Ichijouji) and starts to be more honest about his feelings to his peers.
Interestingly, Takeru’s stance on Patamon’s safety starts to meet a new, severe challenge in Tri. Part 3. Patamon, in verge of infection, asks Takeru to eliminate him before losing his mind completely. This is the moment where Takeru is in total wreck. Compared to his angry outburst in 02 (when Patamon is at risk), his reaction is denial and even in verge of tears (something completely absent in his 02 incarnation). All hell breaks loose once Meicoomon shows again to run amok and the digimon engage a grueling fight to stop her, racing against the time of reboot (which recovers them from the infection at the cost of memory loss of the digimon). Despite his efforts, Patamon joins the fight as Angemon and Takeru, unable to stop Patamon this time, can do nothing but watch the fight until the reboot happens. And it happens again: Patamon (and other digimon) sacrifices himself to stop Meicoomon. The Chosen Children are at loss, but Takeru is at the worst shape.
This is such a long text for a headcanon.

l4d AU when meiko and s/o and the others conforting wizardmon and meicoomon after they both had seen their reflections on the mirror at a safe house in the digital world and are shocked and crying and hiding their current infected and zombified appearance and they manage to calm them down
((here's the concepts for them 2 i will draw for s/o/reader and some other characthers))
They're understandably freaked out at first - They haven't seen their own reflections in a long time
Meicoomon takes it worse, actively freaking out. Meiko and the others are comforting her, but Wizardmon...
Wizardmon is just staring at his reflection. Silent, unmoving, unblinking. He's not freaking out - Physically at least
No one noticies, but Gatomon and s/o. Both of them approach while the others put a hoodie on Meicoomon to cover her up and just check in on him
He's not saying anything, but appreciates their presences. It helps to keep him from spiraling as he looks away from himself. His Tamer hands him a mask and a hoodie to disguise himself with, so his appearance isn't shown
Big group huddle. Some are alert, just in case, but most are just... taking a break. A moment of peace, while they can.

[Two screenshotted replies.
The first, by @rukimakino-heirofheart reads: Tri isn’t a part of the Adventure universe, but if it were, Monodramon/Millenniumon would be unaffected; the reboot is described as affecting the Tri digital world and human world only.
The second, by @alpaca-clouds reads: Despite what some people claim: The Wonderswan games are actually not canon to either of the anime universes. They were marketed like that, because that’s what marketing does. But they are not.]
WHEN WILL I KNOW PEACE FROM DIGIMON ADVENTURE TRI
(the insane ramblings of a madman plagued by bandai's demons of yore below the cut)
WHAT DO YOU MEAN TRI ISN'T PART OF THE ADVENTURE UNIVERSE? I'M LOSING MY MIND.
this is also making me realize i may have missed the implications of them NEEDING to get meicoomon into the digital world, WHICH FORCES ME TO ASK A LOT MORE QUESTIONS LIKE:
->are we to assume that meicoomon escaped the digital world before the reboot and that's why she remembers everything? (but we SAW HER get dragged in right as the timer hit zero)
->or is it a libra ex machina like the fact she JUST SO HAPPENS to also be the martyr cat with all the digital world's memories in her?
->if there's any trace of the libra infection in the real world (ie: infected digimon) wouldn't that still not wipe out the infection? (yes you can deal with infected digimon after the reboot but also wasn't the whole problem that the infection is just THAT potent that it warranted the reboot?)
->BUT AGAIN: if the reboot affects digimon who died in the real world??? then how does it not affect digimon outside of the digital world and thus require them to go through all that kerfuffle to get meicoomon into the rift?
->WHAT ARE THE MECHANICS OF THE REBOOT TRI???
->how can it bring back digimon that have died in the real world but not affect living digimon in the real world as well? (if that's the implication)
ADDITIONALLY: if the wonderswan games aren't canon to the adventure series, then what the fuck do we do about the flashbacks ken has after losing wormmon? IS THIS RYO SIMPLY A CAMEO THEN? YOU. BOY WITH A SCARF AND SHOULDERPADS. TELL ME: WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR CANONICITY?
HEY HOLD ON A SECOND WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE REBOOT ON MONODRAMON IN TAMERS?
WASN'T HE FROM THE ADVENTURES UNIVERSE???
#sky talks#digimon tri#sobbing crying weeping#i'm going to go back to working on artfight art before bandai explodes my brain with psychic damage

Question:
If Meicoomon was the source of the infection, then how come half of the Digital World had been infected by the time tri. begins when Meicoomon was implied to have lived all her life in the Human World?
Did Meicoomon get kidnapped at some point and get dragged to the Digital World? If this happened, when did it happen, who did it, and how? How long was she gone? And how did Meicoomon not turn into Meicrackmon after being kidnapped and separated from Meiko?
Or, if Meicoomon could infect other Digimon all the way from another worlds, shouldn’t any/all Digimon within the Human World have been the first ones to get infected (meaning if Meiko and Meicoomon were already together while other Chosen were having the Zero Two-adventures, shouldn’t all of them been slowly getting infected then and there)?
#tri.#Text post#The more I think about it the less it makes sense#So either everyone should've been infected well before tri. takes place#Or nobody should've been infected because Meicoomon was too far away from anyone to spread the infection#Or tri. would've had to open with Meicrackmon appearing

Hello. I saw your post watching digimon tri. Even though digimon tri ended in 2018. It’s always interesting to see new eyes. Did you ever watch the rest of tri? I’m interested in your thoughts
I'm getting through it, but I keep getting distracted. XD I'm three movies in now. They just made the jump to the Digital World.
Genuinely curious where they're going with Meicoomon as the source of the infection. Having a Partner Digimon as the... Not necessarily villain, but root cause of the conflict? Seems like it's going to be tricky to pull off.
Last thing I saw was everyone meeting their partners for the first time post-reboot, being all excited but the Digimon had no idea who they were. A neat little reversal of the first episode from Adventure.

I also made some headcanons for maki, daigo, and meiko if you are curious …
Zodiac
Meiko - Virgo
Strengths – Virgo is considered the most intelligent sign in the zodiac, as the place where Mercury is exalted. They are in fact truly practical and smart when it comes to everyday issues. Analytical and deep, their greatest strength is their mind at they should use it to resolve matters of life that obviously present to them for a reason. Clean and thorough, a Virgo will make everything that was broken, tainted or spoiled, clean, fixed and working again. This is why they are often found as healers, for some Virgos have a talent to fix broken hearts, souls, egos or bodies.
Weaknesses – the greatest weakness of any Virgo hides in their emotional world. While they rely on their mind to give them all the answers they seek, lack of understanding can lead them to hurtful, irrational experiences that they simply don’t understand. They need to accept their fragility, sensitivity and approach matters of the heart as valid, important and sensible. The other weakness these individuals have to face is lack of awareness of their self-worth, shown through their need to always think less of themselves, as if they cannot do anything that is satisfying enough.
For years Meiko had been hiding shame and resentment of herself under a veil of shyness. She thought she could control Meicoomon, as long she was there, Meicoomon wouldn’t go berserk.
When she realized Meicoomon was the source of the infection that caused her friends so much suffering, she kept blaming herself, even running away. She felt she had no right to be around the DIgimon or her friends.
Even with the reassurance of the others, it was hard to have faith in herself and to think good things about herself. To see what was good in her.
Meiko has shown to use what she learned from everyone else to help in her goals. Reiterating SOra’s words back to her, and having to come to the conclusion that ultimately, her partner would have to die in order to save both worlds. Despite the harshness of the decision, Meiko still very much loves Meicoomon
Daigo - Sagittarius
Strengths – Sagittarius is an adventurer, both physically and mentally. People born in this Sun sign have a broad mind and they are able to change perspective with ease, until they find the right version of words spoken, events or reasons for anything they want to examine. Highly adjustable and with a deep understanding for different people, nations, countries, governments and in general – ways of life, they blend in perfectly with the natives, wherever they are. They need enough space, don’t want to be contained in their home, by their partner or in any other way. Movement will fill up their batteries, energize them and make them confident and strong. Independent, optimistic and sincere, this is a friend you want in your life, especially if you need someone to help you find hope or a purpose to anything that troubles you.
Weakness – The greatest weakness of Sagittarius is their inability to find focus. With such a broad vision, it is not easy to pay too much attention to details, be practical and narrow down their sentences to be understandable and unambiguous. As a consequence of their faith in the goodness of human kind, these individuals will often end up disappointed or challenged, and their faith has to be built up from a point of deep understanding, or they have a tendency to turn into inflexible, grumpy people who had high hopes, once.
Daigo is very laid back and cares deeply for the people around him. So deeply he doesn’t see the big picture and how destructive Maki’s suffering actually was. He tried to be the hope she desperately needed, but couldn’t help her.
As his time as a Chosen Child, he was the leader of the group, and probably was their hope in many desperate situations.
He teaches Calligraphy as his part time job and helps Taichi to find a good career path for him to take.
Maki - Capricorn
Strengths – The greatest strengths of a Capricorn are his ambition, discipline and patience. With their ability to plan ahead and think of all necessary steps in their chase for a certain goal, they are often successful in their career path. Reliable and dedicated, these individuals often have trouble opening up to other people, but become trustworthy and stable in a relationship once they decide to be a part of it. With their endurance and patience, there is hardly anything that seems impossible.
Weaknesses – While they set extremely high goals for themselves, they often do so without the proper basis in their hearts. If they separate from their emotional needs and stay focused mainly on the image they will show to the rest of the world, they easily become unsatisfied, grumpy, and even angry at their circumstances, however successful they might get. The lack of compassion that comes as a product of their own, personal lack of satisfaction, leads to them becoming cold, distant and detached from others, while selfishly pursuing their goals with no regard to other people along the way. Their direction needs to be founded in their true personality, creativity and their hearts, in order for the rest of their life to have true quality.
Maki had plans of a reboot since University years and saw an opportunity to turn her plan into action with Meicoomon and eventually “Gennai’s” help. She carefully thought of the plans and actions in hand in order for the plan to work.
But one thing she didn’t foresee was what the reboot could mean other than reviving perma dead Digimon. Bakumon not remembering her then running away caused her to snap. The circumstances caused her to have an emotional break and end up in the Dark Ocean, begging for Bakumon to come back to her.
So, quick question: Do you ever thought headcanoning a birthday for Wallace, Menoa, Maki or Daigo?
(I'm curious because, i don't remember seeing many headcanons about the non-Adv/02 kids when it comes to birthdays...)
Hmm, you know, I never thought about it until I got this ask! I don't have specific-date headcanons for the Original 12, just star signs, so I can take a similar stab at it for the movie characters based on vibes and some of my Very Specific Thoughts about them:
Wallace - Easy! Gemini (late May - late June). Mostly because of the twins thing. But also, in the US, school starts in late August/early September, with the age cutoff for entering a grade being about the same time, which would make him perpetually one of the youngest in his class. I'm projecting a bit based on what I remember from early elementary school, but since kids that age will tease you for just about anything, I think being "the youngest" among his peers would cause him to try to act more mature than he really is, and (maybe) provide some rationale for all that inappropriate flirting he does :) I'm putting that out there only because I headcanon the exact opposite to be true for...
Menoa - Virgo (late August - late September). Conversely, Menoa is perpetually the oldest in her school year, causing her to form the belief about herself early on (coupled with her ability to excel academically and start to skip grades), that she really is more mature than those in her age group (she's not).
Daigo and Maki - Based on this Wikipedia article, I like the idea of giving them birthdays to match the Holy Beast their digimon represent (White Tiger for Baihumon and Yellow Dragon for Fanglongmon. Even though we don't know that that's what Bakumon would have Mega-evolved into, that's my digivolution headcanon). That places Daigo's birthday in autumn and Maki's in midsummer (again, according to Wikipedia). Additionally, the White Tiger is associated with the Metal element, and as I know from Sailor Moon, Venus is the planet of gold/metal (kinsei), making Daigo fit very neatly as a Libra (late September - late October), a star sign ruled by Venus. The Yellow Dragon is associated with the element of Earth, which is a bit trickier, since there's no "Earth" sign in the summer (though, I suppose Virgo technically is) nor one on the zodiac with a ruling planet of Earth. The closest we have is the Moon as a ruling planet... so Maki's a Virgo or a Cancer depending on which path you want to follow. I do like going the opposite and making her born in winter though... Capricorn (late December - late January), makes the most sense to me; I actually like that quite well for her serious, goal-oriented personality.
And while we're at it, Meiko! For my-own-personal-crest-headcanon reasons, she also has to be a Libra. The scales = balance = Mei-mei (to me).
This was fun, thanks for the ask!
