"Megamind as an influencer sounds terrible"
In the prequel comic #Megamind projects himself live during a kidnapping where he sits Roxanne down in front of a TV to play VHS recordings of previous battles with Metro Man (and of course, her) so everyone can see how great he is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like literally the entire prequel comic is just Megamind peacocking around Roxanne to show off to her with old recorded footage of himself while the city watches. ANYWAY. Like y'all, the movie literally introduces Megamind's current-day dynamic with Metro Man with him projecting his bigass head in front of everyone in the city. And then he does it AGAIN to Metro Man directly because heaven forbid anyone isn't looking at what he's doing
Tumblr media
Megamind's entire existence is running around being flashy and loud and out there like this, genuinely HOW is this a shock to people,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also he's still like this in Button of Doom, the short that came out in 2011, because I know some of y'all weren't paying attention. Btw: the short focuses on Megamind realizing that he doesn't have to be like Metro Man to be a hero himself so like, expect that theme to continue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway looking forward to more Megamind stuff in 2024 because I'm not fucking boring and I understand Megamind is supposed to be a big loveable dork and a huge attention whore. ✨

This new employee should work out well. After spotting my Megamind lunchbox at the end of the day he inquired if I'm a big fan - I said yes. He said -"I could watch that movie every day ". He informs me today that he went home that night and watched it. He's currently watching BOD in between tasks.

With the... Negativity surrounding the trailer for the new megamind movie/show, my brain's wires started wiring and, welp, here's my idea for a Megamind show: Megamind has to learn how to be a proper hero, and Metroman/Musicman (who is still retired) acts like a mentor, from the sidelines.
Here's a dive into how the villains (evil bernard evil bernard) and characters would work ⬇️
Megamind
He still has the attitude and mannerisms of a villain, as he retains his old personality, but is learning the values of being a super hero. He evil-laughs when winning and such, and also is rather awkward around the citizens of metrocity, but is trying his best. He's still trying to win over their trust.
Metroman
By the end of the movie, I'm pretty sure everyone still believes Megamind killed him, which would definitely hinder Megamind's ability to gain their trust. The general public still thinks Metroman's dead, but there are multiple rumours and conspiracy theories of him still being alive, as he still goes out and could be occasionally spotted.
Villains
Bernard, who is a megamind expert, becomes an antagonist. He has a collection of Megamind's old thrown away machines, plus merchandise. He believes that megamind has lost himself and is "boring" now. As such, he uses the holo-watch (found in Megamind's trash) to steal his appearance and cause Havoc, turning the public against him and "bringing back" the villain he's an """expert""" on. Of course, this plan fails, but he becomes a recurring villain whose objective is to return megamind to his old self. This is either through recreating him (holograms, robots, etc) or straight up trying to manipulate him into going back to his old habits. He's still emotionless and seemingly bored most of the time though. Always having a horrible time.
The Child
Specifically the child from "the button of doom" who gets the dehydration gun and turns his mother into an ice cube. I enjoy the idea of a full on villain bratty child who can't be sent to jail, bc he's a child. (Sort of like the kid from Word Girl and the little girl from Powerpuff girls) He could also reflect how Megamind was as a kid. in the end the child isn't literally evil, just immature.
I'm also changing The doom syndicate from a squad Megamind used to be a part of to fellow villains who Megamind hated. (I know they are based on a cut concept for the movie but it was cut for a reason, megamind shouldn't have been part of a squad at all, he only had Minion, that's kinda the point). My idea is that Megamind was the sort of "main villain" to metroman, and he used to make fun of the rest for being his "side villains" lmao. (I would love for metroman and megamind to have a lego joker-batman sort of thing going on)
Also, what if the villain scene was sort of competitive. They didn't have any respect for each other, and they all worked alone. Until now, considering from their perspective Megamind killed Metroman. They see him as a bigger threat now, and also want to beat him up bc he was the most annoying "fellow villain". As such, they join forces and form the doom syndicate. Although, I do like the idea of them appearing one by one across the show before forming the squad. (Perhaps like a season finale)
Tighten is tricky because he's been dealt with in the movie and it'd be repetitive to fight him again. Although, I think some random scientist villain giving him powers again could have potential, as he's the number 1 Megamind hater and is easily manipulated... Food for thought

So the Megamind movie/TV show announcement came out yesterday and there's such a divide within the fandom and so much anger directed at both sides and I just, can't understand why?
People are allowed to have different opinions, people are allowed to be super excited for it and people are allowed to be disappointed in what the trailers are showing.
It's been so long since we got content and you've got people who are so excited to get what we're getting and that's great! That's awesome! We're getting content! But there's also people who wanted more than this, who wanted DreamWorks/Peacock to put more money into this and that's understandable. People who wanted the original voices bc that's what's familiar, that's what they fell in love with. And it's okay that the show is different, but it's also okay for people to be upset at it being different.
I don't think it's greedy or ungrateful. I just think this shows how much people care and how optimistic they were and how hopeful they were. And yeah, some people are being rude about it, but those are very specific cases and generalising either way isn't helping.
Let people love the new content, let people be disappointed. It's okay. We're all going to watch it, and then there will be more divided opinions and that's also okay!
I think keeping hate out of the main tag, especially when Megamind is so big these days, is pretty unavoidable, but adding extra tags to things isn't. Discourse and criticism for the show could be tagged as such (maybe under 'MegaRant'?), and then those who don't want to see that, blacklist those tags. If people aren't tagging things, gently asking them to, and if then they're a dick about it, well the block button is there.
As someone who often loves things others hate, I get the instant defence mechanism, I really do. My URL/Tumblr name is from Button Of Doom, and we all know how well that was received, but I genuinely love that silly little short. And that's okay.
For people who are blaming the animators or blaming those who worked on this at a lower level, aim that disappointment higher if you can, at CEOs and those who just care about shareholders. The film industry at the moment is not a pretty picture and the people with passion are often working as hard as they can with very little time and very little budget.
It's okay to be disappointed, just know who's to blame for it. It's okay to be really excited and then upset at the people shitting on that thing you're excited for. But let's find a way to live in harmony rather than getting angry at each other. And if people don't want to, you're allowed to curate your own experience and block/step away/blacklist, whatever you need to do.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you some propaganda
Lads of all genders present on Earth and beyond,
In the year zero, also commonly called 2010, the animated movie Megamind hit the theaters, and too many of you (but not me as I had good taste even as a child) made the poor choice to prefer its competitor, Despicable Me, damning us all for years of suffering under the yellows creatures' reign of terrors. Now, you are being offered a chance to fix that mistake, by voting for Megamind and his allies in the mad scientist showdown.
You see, disrespecting Megamind is inexcusable, as he is not an icon, but THE icon, an example to follow on your mad scientist journey. Talking about my own experience would be a waste, as I wrote this propaganda's piece so it's pretty evident, but I have examples. In Megamind: The Button Of Doom (2011), he sells his inventions to people, even children, giving them weapons to use against their own parents. In Sonic 2 (2022), Eggman has an outfit named REDMAMBA.INK, clearly inspired by Megamind's Black Mamba outfit. From children to other mad scientists, this alien influences and motivates all. Donatello himself was born in 2005 and could have grow up looking up at this genius and his art of presentation, you just don't know.
Megamind had been inspiring all of us for the last 13 years, and he's still at the top after everything that went down, showing how incredible he really is. But, and I am deeply saddened to say this, Donatello is one Donatello, one iteration between others, he's already gone and replaced in his franchise. Megamind's legacy was there before and will survive his.
In this, I haven't talked about Megamind's companions, Doofenshmirtz and Princess Bubblegum, and this is because I know little about them. But I have heard of them, and if they are standing beside this blue genius, than it's more reason for them to win.
So, repent yourself, vote for Megamind and his friends at @mad-scientist-showdown, or face an eternity surrounded by minions for the sin you committed.
And go vote for Donnie at @autismswagsummit because, as much as I would protect Mob and Papyrus with my life, they do not have swag like our purple boy has.

Film Reviews #8 - Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate
When I heard that the reception for this movie was bad I decided to still keep going and watch it, people mentioned only the animation errors from the trailer, and well, nobody has Peacock, it's not like anybody actually watched the thing itself. The animation is indeed more cheaply looking and it can feel uncanny if you are used to the fluid animation of the Hollywood-tier film, but I love, love, the character of Megamind so I decided to give it a shot. The first Megamind itself is my favorite movie ever made by Dreamworks! I think it has some interesting plots,! Seriously! The purpose of villains, the need for conflict in life, and even topics present to today's internet bubbles like Incel culture! It was witty, it was funny, and it had something to tell. Even Megamind: The Button of Doom had something good talking about being authentic to yourself and what not!
Anyway, I thought that if you can get into the animation, you could enjoy the story. There structure of the story is good, having Megamind struggle with his new role as a hero with his self sabotaging, having Megamind pretend he is still a bad guy along other villains to not be destroyed, having Megamind to deal with his arrogance still. All these ideas have lots of possibilities for character progression and growth, but aside that, there is very little else for the original public.
In short, this is now a kids franchise. I see the love in the heartwarming performances and writing. Voice actors and writers for children's shows have a knack for simplicity and clarity. They are always vibrant and expressive making sure that complex ideas are presented in a simple way so the kids can get it. It works for them and it can be really charming when you get into it, but for the rest of the public this will not work. The humor will feel too obvious and dry, the characters will feel standardized. The music and design is very evident and in your face, there is no mood setting or build up, the music is used in short spurts to set up a punchline. The jokes set up are very obvious and simple. With kids there is very little space for subtext, so you set up things at plain sight. Sure, there are shows and movies that can talk to both children, and adults, true, but there is only so much you can do trying to gather both audiences. Sure you remember jokes and parts in Pixar classic movies that you didn't understand, or jokes that you didn't get or plot bits that bored you, I remember I couldn't watch Nemo when I was 6 because that bit where Nemo gets kidnapped absolutely terrified me, the niece of the dentist, she terrified me, Sid in Toys Story was way too scary. Maybe once you get a little bit older as a kid, you can then enjoy Pixar films. Disney films… well, I don't know, I never enjoyed Disney films so I can't comment about them. But anyway, yes, Pixar films can be enjoyed by both kids and adults, but you can only go so far with kids while still trying to talk to adults at the same time. If there is a scary villain without a face, showing him holding a teddy bear is a must go, if there is a bunch of bad guys attempting to destroy the city, if they are bickering with each other and being silly, that will help to see them as less threatening for a kid. With this movie and the TV show, there is a clear target audience, little kids.
I know that new productions are always rebranded as sequels for old properties to have a better chance to succeed, but for the people who enjoyed the first Megamind, this is not it. If Peacock management wanted to bring the kids to the platform, it might help, I'm not sure, a lot of kids around this decade aren't focused on feature length films exclusive for Streaming but in self made content and Indie Animation or also YouTube Shorts, they have a little kid character in the movie who manages to get more audience than Roxane through the internet and that constantly helps the main characters, the writers aren't oblivious about how the youth works, there are still famous and successful TV shows for kids nowadays as well, but I don't know really any of them. There is a dance scene and also some silly pop music numbers (the ending scene theme is actually very catchy). With the animation budget cut in, the movement is a lot less fluid, there are more frequent animations errors, the lighting is a lot simpler and the characters just look… different. But again, this is a kids show exclusive for Streaming TV, not a Hollywood-tier movie with a 130 million dollar budget.
It makes me a bit sad that their crew and cast got their work trashed by the internet like this because of another case of faux sequel and rebranding, it also makes me a bit sad for Megamind fans that were looking for a true sequel, but this is not what the movie is. As for the TV show, I don't think it will be my coup of tea.
Quick Chum or the city is gonna have a new ZIP code!
Hehehe, okay, that one was kinda funny.
4/10

Media I’ve Experienced in 2024 (March)
Puella Magi Madoka Magica:Rebellion (8/10)-Big Cake Round Cake Right in Front of Me!
The Little Mermaid 2023 (6/10)-The singing was good besides that wack Awkwafina rap
Craig Before The Creek (8/10)-While I liked Craig of the Creek, I wouldn’t call myself a fan but this prequel was pretty fun into was the main characters were like before
Madame Web (0/10)-No reason to watch, awful effects, bland characters, boring story
Megaman X5 (7/10)-Honestly, the story was kind of stale but the gameplay was still top notch
Peacemaker (9/10)-After playing him in Mortal 1 Kombat, I loved this show. Fun characters, funny dialogue, and some pretty good fights
Megaman X6 (5/10)-Guilty pleasure, while a lot of it was annoyingly hard, I liked the virus stuff and the story
Avenue Q (9/10)-Pretty emotional musical about adulthood despite being played by muppets
Kung Fu Panda 4 (6/10)-Waaay too safe, the villain was intimidating until being defeated in 3 hits
Secrets of the Furious Five (8/10)-Pretty neat special, I liked the Furious Five from their movie screentime and the show and this helped fleshed them out
The Button of Doom (6/10)-While not as good as the movie. This is something Megamind 2 wishes it could be
South Park (8/10)-After 26 Seasons, this show is still pretty good. It has moments that make me laugh while still being shocking and there are characters I find likable to watch like Butters and Kenny
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (10/10)-Takes my favorite disk of FFVII and expands hard on it. Traversal feels freeing, the locations feel more full, and the story takes some wild turns.
Smiling Friends Season 1 (8/10)-This shows that adult cartoons don’t have to be about nihilism and can be about hope and enjoying life.
Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy (3/10)-While I find Seth MacFarlane funny this didn’t do it for me. The comedy while having decent setups, is ultimately too lazy to make it funny
Megaman X7 (4/10)-Gameplay was repetitive, the voice acting was bad but hey still liked it more than X3
Megaman X8 (8/10)-The gameplay is pretty fun this time, and Lumine is a pretty good villain if they expanded her more
Megaman X:The Day of Sigma (5/10)-The animation is good don’t get me wrong but the pacing couldn’t keep me engaged
Saw (7/10)-Pretty good story about someone who wants to help people realize they want to live by putting them in death traps
Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Manga (Currently 8/10)-My favorite anime is Fairy Tail and this sequel expands pretty well, the Dragon Gods concept is interesting, the characters are still as they were which is how I like them, and the art during fights are really well detailed
Hello Kitty Super Style (9/10)-I love Supercute Adventures and this show honestly feels like if we got a full 11 minute show.
Mortal Kombat 1995 (8/10)-Fun action and characters. Effects didn’t age the best
Grave of The Fireflies (9/10)-Really emotional movie about those suffering during war
Persona 3 Reload (10/10)-The best gameplay and presentation Persona has ever been.
Godzilla:King of Monsters (9/10)-Really cool action and monsters
King Kong:Skull Island (8/10)-Pretty good story and action
Godzilla 2014 (5/10)-Probably spoiled by how good future Monsterverse but the spectacle was kind of forgettable
Godzilla vs Kong (10/10)-Yup still as fun as I remember it
Hunter X Hunter 2011 (9/10)-As much as I want to strangle Gon the rest of the series is pretty fire
Kaguya Sama Love is War!:The First Kiss That Never Ends (9/10)-Pretty funny and emotional movie
Komi Can’t Communicate (9/10)-Fluttershy as an anime girl
My Senpai Is Annoying (8/10)-I came in wanting Kurobe, left loving Futaba and Takeda
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon:Explorers of Sky-Beyond Time and Darkness (5/10)-The dub is too goofy
OFF The RPG (Opinion Has Changed as of September) (8/10)-Originally I found the fights boring and the fact I was softlocked made it lower. That was a mistake. The story is really haunting and dark, the fights are really basic but not bad, and the locations have an eerie feeling to them
One Piece Film Z (10/10)-Z is a really intimidating villain and the action is pretty good
My Little Pony:The Manga (7/10)-Cute artwork, I wish the stories were better

Has Dreamworks EVER called Megamind Vs The Doom Syndicate "Megamind 2"? Because everyone complaining about it is calling it that, just like people called Button of Doom "Megamind 2" for 13 years <.<
Next movie should be "Megamind 2: The Third"

i wonder if megamind has a petting zoo
but it's strictly for minion
like minion gets out of his suit and just swims around in like a touch pool and megamind just pets him
or even just a minion waterpark
hidden away in the lair with the push of a button
WHAT IF THAT'S WHY IN BUTTON OF DOOM, MEGAMIND HAS ALL THOSE REMOTES?!?!
MINION WATERPARK REMOTE

the new megamind "movie" was-- absolutely mid. i know the new VAs are doing their best, but the OG voices are ICONIC. also megamind using a flip phone when the movie came out FOURTEEN YEARS AGO and now kids have smartphones.
they retconned button of doom, which was the ORIGINAL sequel/short after the film.
and WORST of all-- they renamed minion because they're owned by illumination and HEAVEN forbid a character share a name with their yellow pill money makers.
all in all it was a mid experience. 4/10
