Saw some takes on One Piece x Pokemon so I thought I'd throw in my own two cents, seeing as giving characters Pokemon is my FAVORITE thing (just look at my fucking Submas fic, so many Pokeymans.... ehem).
First, to note that I'm working under the idea of 'One Piece where everything is exactly the same as Canon except Pokemon are also there'. How? Eh, its anime, baby, we don't need too much logic! They're just like a split off from regular animals - perhaps animals naturally enfused with Devil Fruit-like powers or something? IDK.
(That said, Pokemon cannot gain Devil Fruit powers like a regular animal can. There are many studies why but no 100% conclusive answer.)
Luffy:
1) Tangela ♀️ -> Tangrowth
Met on/at: Dawn Island
Background: Met when Luffy was young, in the mountain forest after befriending Ace and Sabo. They bonded over both having stretchy limbs. Constantly got tangled up in each other.
Evolved: During Marineford while trying to save Ace.
Reasoning: Stretchy limbs, a little goofy looking, but can become a strong fighter.
2) Mudkip ♂️ -> Marshtomp -> Swampert
Met on/at: Alabasta.
Background: Often hung out with the Kung-Fu Dugong for a fun brawl and was impressed by Luffy. Followed the Strawhats by sneaking into their luggage afterwards. Helped Luffy against Crocodile.
Evolved: First at Enies Lobby then finally over the timeskip while training with Luffy. Was supplied with a Megastone by Boa. First use was during Dressrosa.
Reasoning: Mega evolution similar to Luffy's Gear 3-4 appearances. Also completes the starter trio with Zoro and Sanji.
3) Aipom ♀️ -> Ambipom
Met on/at: Skypiea.
Background: Liked Luffy's singing, followed him around and snuck on board the Merry when it went to leave Skypiea.
Evolved: At Thriller Bark, trying to protect Luffy from Kuma.
Reasoning: Goofy monkey. “It uses its tails for everything. If it wraps both of its tails around you and gives you a squeeze, that's proof it really likes you.”
4) Drampa ♂️
Met on/at: Sabaody, pre-timeskip.
Background: Was entertaining kids at the theme-park when Luffy's group bumped into them. Became distraught that Camie was kidnapped and tried to help them find her. Was upset they couldn't protect Luffy or the Strawhats when the navy showed up, thus watching over Sunny during the two years to make up for it. Officially joined when they reunited.
Reasoning: Goofy. Fluffy white hair, similar to Gear 5. Kind to children, will become violent to protect or avenge them - think Momo, Tama, and Bonnie.
5) Lombre ♂️ -> Ludicolo
Met on/at: Dressrossa.
Background: Often snuck in to watch Colosseum fights. Didn't really understand why everyone always got so mad (mostly at Rebecca) but thought the fights seemed fun. Was inspired by Luffy's battles and defeating Doflamingo and really liked the party thrown afterwards.
Evolved: Accidentally, on the way to WCI, after touching a waterstone while playing around in Nami's treasure (with Gholdengo).
Reasoning: “Upon hearing an upbeat and cheerful rhythm, the cells in Ludicolo's body become very energetic and active. Even in battle, this Pokémon will exhibit an amazing amount of power.” Festive music makes it stronger, comparable to Drums of Liberation. Also goofy, likes to party.
6) Egg -> Riolu ♂️ -> Lucario
Met on/at: Zou.
Background: Was accidentally grabbed when the egg got packed with their supplies during the rush to WCI. Was nearly eaten by Luffy but Chopper recognized it as a viable Pokemon egg. Hatched aboard the Sunny when Luffy cried out to Sanji, feeling his emotions despite the distance. Intensely attached to Luffy as a result.
Evolved: At Wano during the Onigashima battle.
Reasoning: Use of aura similar to Ryuo Haki.
And, lol whoops, since this is gunna be LONG the rest of the Strawhats are going under the cut!
Zoro:
1) Scyther ♂️ -> Kleavor
Met on/at: Shimotsuki Village.
Background: Often fought each other while Zoro trained to beat Kuina. Was thrown off when Zoro came after him viciously one day, until he broke down mid fight and told him about Kuina, her death, and their promise. Joined Zoro when he eventually left the village.
Evolved: Found Black Augurite way back at Little Garden but was not aware of its use nor cared to evolve until Wano, after seeing Tonoyasu's execution.
Reasoning: Knife arms. Kleavor chosen over Scizor because Scizor is more claw or clamp-like while Kleavor keeps the sharp weaponry arms (just axes instead of swords). Kleavor also more old-fashioned, less fancy than Scizor, mirroring Zoro's simple ideology. Big, scary looking.
2) Magikarp ♂️ -> Gyarados
Met on/at: East Blue sea.
Background: Came across Zoro while he was lost at Sea. Helped lead him to land but was stunned by how he kept getting immediately lost and stuck with him to keep him from dying at sea. Likes to meditate with him. Dreams of swimming up a giant water. Love at first sight with Sanji's Feebas. Get clumsy and shy under her attention. Nearly went belly up when she evolved. Becomes a mated pair after Little Garden. Neither Zoro or Sanji are aware.
Evolved: To help them escape Enies Lobby whirlpools. Was given a Mega-stone much later at Wano, by Hiyori.
Reasoning: Unexpected powerhouse. Connects to Wano via ‘koi that climbs a waterfall’ and becomes a dragon. Mirrors Sanji's Feebas/Milotic.
3) Zangoose ♀️
Met on/at: Random East Blue island.
Background: Caught while roaming as a bounty hunter. Was terrorizing a local town until Zoro beat them. Has an explosive temper and can be difficult to control at times. More controlled after the timeskip but can still be egged into fits.
Reasoning: Sharp, mean-looking face. Has a long-term rivalry with another Pokemon (Seviper). Mark over left eye.
4) Treecko ♂️ -> Grovyle -> Sceptile
Met on/at: Long Ring Long Land Island.
Background: Watched their Davy Back fight. Thought they were kinda stupid ultimately liked their vibes and forced their way onto Zoro's team afterwards. Chose Zoro on a whim but it worked as they often nap together. Very chill, go-with-the-flow type.
Evolved: First at Sabaody while protecting Zoro from Kuma then finally over the timeskip. Was sneakily given a Mega-stone by Mihawk when the two years were up.
Reasoning: Green. Cutting attacks. Completes the Starter Trio with Luffy and Sanji.
5) Charcadet ♂️ -> Ceruledge
Met on/at: Thriller Bark.
Background: Was helping them from the shadows as they were too weak to take on Moria straight on. Saw the confrontation with Kuma and was greatly moved. Wants to be trained by Zoro.
Evolved: Over the timeskip.
Reasoning: Sword arms. Got stronger via cursed artifacts like Zoro's swords.
6) Applin ♀️ -> Dipplin -> Hydrapple
Met on/at: Wano.
Background: Saw Zoro as he pretended to be a traveling ronin in the capital. Became completely enamored by him. Kept following him and randomly popping out to give him food or lead him places. Young powerhouse. Really wants to protect and impress him.
Evolved: First when Toko gave Zoro a candied apple which Zoro then gave to them (since he doesn't like sweets). Had no idea it could evolve them. Then finally during the Onigashima battle.
Reasoning: Multi-headed dragon similar to three-sword style. Also funny for him to have a sweets-based Pokemon despite disliking sweets. Draws parallel to his friendship with Chopper.
Nami:
1) Meowth ♂️ -> Persian
Met on/at: Random East Blue Island.
Background: Caught in an attempt to abuse Pay Day. Wasn't efficient, only upsetting both of them, and gave them a rough start. Eventually grew to understand and trust each other. Becomes very spoiled later on, as Nami wants to give them a good life.
Evolved: While fighting Baroque Works in the final Alabasta battle.
Reasoning: Money cat.
2) Absol ♀️ (shiny) ⭐️
Met on/at: Random pirate ship in the East Blue.
Background: Freed them from a poacher while working for Arlong. Bonded over being considered bad omens (or so they believed). Helps her recognize warning signs of oncoming natural disasters.
Evolved: Found a Mega-stone in treasure at Thriller Bark. Only achieved it after the timeskip.
Reasoning: Ability to sense on-coming disasters similar to Nami being able to spot storms and her navigation capabilities. Shiny to match her hair.
3) Gimmighoul ⚧️ -> Gholdengo
Met on/at: Skypiea.
Background: Found roaming form in treasure from Skypiea. Freaked out before taking up residence in Nami's treasure. Very good at keeping it organized and safe for her. Not much of a fighter but focuses on keeping the ship safe when the crew is on land. Likes to watch her draw maps.
Evolved: Entirely by accident while trying to protect their treasure at Thriller Bark. Was not looking forward to having Nami find out some of the treasure was now part of their body.
Reasoning: Treasure, gold.
4) Castform ♂️
Met on/at: Weatheria.
Background: Lived with the Weather Wizards to aid them in their studies. Was moved by Nami's drive to help Luffy and then by her bountiful knowledge and skill. Helps her improve Clima-Tact range. Chose to go with her so they could become stronger together as well as see her achieve her dream. Later becomes BFFs with Zeus.
Reasoning: Weather-based abilities.
5) Wattrel ♀️ -> Kilowattrel
Met on/at: Weatheria.
Background: Befriended the entire flock while practicing lightning attacks. Chose to stay with her to keep ‘playing’. A little air-headed but well-meaning. Also BFFs with Zeus.
Evolved: At Dressrossa, while fighting Giolla. Not good at remembering their much bigger now and keeps trying to sit on Nami's shoulder.
Reasoning: Electric bird. Comparable to Nami's favorite attack with Thunder Tempo.
6) Dratini ♂️ -> Dragonair -> Dragonite
Met on/at: On the way to Fish-man Island.
Background: A scardy-cat but still tries to keep sailors safe. Got caught up in the mess with the kraken and volcano on the journey to the island. Stuck with Nami because she let them curl around her shoulders when they got scared. Officially joined at the end of the arc.
Evolved: First during the escape from WCI and then finally during the battle at Onigashima while desperately trying to protect Nami.
Reasoning: Saves sailors from storms and wrecks just like Nami navigates them to safety. Kindhearted.
Special Note: Nami is afraid of Bug Type Pokemon.
Usopp:
1) Spinarak ♂️ -> Ariados
Met on/at: Syrup Village.
Background: First friend, partners in crime. Helped back-up Usopp's lies however they could. Desperately wants to befriend Nami and Sanji (going slowly).
Evolved: During the timeskip. Took so long to evolve because of their personal fear they weren't going to be good enough to help Usopp achieve his dream.
Reasoning: Usopp claims to have played with spiders as a kid.
2) Remoraid ♀️ -> Octillary
Met on/at: Seas of Alabasta.
Background: Fished up on the way to Alabasta. Was too scrawny to eat, took offense to that, and made it their problem until caught by Usopp. Constantly disobeyed him, causing trouble and spitting water at them. Only grew to respect and listen to him in Enies Lobby, both out of his love for Merry and his strength to stand up for Robin.
Evolved: While protecting them at Enies Lobby, when they were stuck on the platform.
Reasoning: Gun fish for the sniper.
3) Finizin ♂️ -> Palafin
Met on/at: Water 7.
Background: Met while he tried to fix Merry. Usopp would talk to Merry and his voice drew in some wild sea Pokemon. Thought it was touching how much he cared for the ship. Saw him and Franky get kidnapped by CP-9, chasing after the sea train. Saw the ‘birth’ of and idolizes Sogeking.
Evolved: As they were leaving Water 7, hyped up by Usopp returning to his friends and wanting to protect them from Garp.
Reasoning: Superhero Pokemon = Sogeking.
4) Dreepy ♀️ -> Drakloak -> Dragapult
Met on/at: Thriller Bark.
Background: Followed them out of curiosity. Got slingshot-ed away by Usopp by accident when he panicked thanks to the zombies. Turned out to love being launched by Usopp's slingshot, kept coming back to him and even offering to help if he kept doing it. Refused to leave.
Evolved: First during the timeskip and then again at Dressrosa, during the final battle.
Reasoning: Likes being shot around. Good for a sniper. Also funny since Usopp is scared of ghosts.
5) Toedscool ♂️ -> Toedscruel
Met on/at: Boin Archipelago.
Background: Tried to kill Usopp at first but had a change of heart when Usopp accidentally saved them both from being eaten by the island. Helped him hone his skills and ammunition, then joined after two years.
Evolved: Over the two years.
Reasoning: Goofy, good at running away really fast. Draws comparisons to Usopp's use of plants and the like later.
6) Floragato ♂️ -> Meowscarada
Met on/at: Dressrosa.
Background: Was particularly feisty and troublesome and thus was turned into a toy by Sugar. Witnessed the God Usopp fight. Was more baffled then moved, choosing to follow Usopp out of morbid curiosity. Respect was grudgingly won when they watched him prepare his attack to protect Luffy from Sugar later on.
Evolved: During the battle at Onigashima.
Reasoning: Uses sleight of hand, showy, like Usopp. Similar to Palafin and Sogeking.
Special Note: Afraid of Ghost Type Pokemon. Still startles around Robin's.
Sanji:
1) Rattata ♂️ (shiny) ⭐️
Met on/at: Germa Kingdom.
Background: One of the rats he fed. Found Sanji in the dungeon and kept him company. Escaped with him, officially being caught once on the ship. Only survived the shipwreck because Sanji forced them to stay in their Pokeball, which kept them in a decent enough stasis until they were found, but only just barely. Has refused to return to their ball ever since.
Evolved: No. Refuses to evolve out of fear of becoming too big to hide on Sanji's person.
Reasoning: Sanji fed mice. Shiny to look more like his hair and play off the idea of a ‘waste of a shiny’. IE a weak or non-viable fighter Pokemon getting a shiny spawn instead of a cooler Pokemon, making the bad shiny more insulting. Sanji was a failure because he didn't mutate, Rattata was a failure because it did mutate.
2) Torchic ♀️ -> Combusken -> Blaziken
Met on/at: Baratie.
Background: A gift from Zeff when he started teaching him how to fight. Sparring partners. Doesn't tolerate Sanji's nonsense with women and will drag him away if they need to. Assists him in the kitchen as well.
Evolved: First evolves at Arlong Park then finally at Enies Lobby. Gifted a Mega-stone by Iva during the timeskip.
Reasoning: Fire-type kicking Pokemon. Completes the Starter Trio with Luffy and Zoro.
3) Feebas ♀️ -> Milotic
Met on/at: Baratie.
Background: Met after opening the Baratie, trying to steal scraps from trash because they were having trouble finding food thanks to being so weak. Sanji cooked them something fresh and told them they could always come to him if they were hungry. Doted on over the years as Sanji honed his cooking. Believes in his dream of the All Blue. Becomes intensely protective of him upon evolving. Love at first sight with Zoro's Magikarp/Gyarados. Thinks he's a real charmer even as a Magikarp. Was starstruck when he evolved. Becomes a mated pair after Little Garden. Neither Sanji or Zoro are aware.
Evolved: To protect him when Don Kreig attacked.
Reasoning: Hard to find yet very pathetic and weak Pokemon in first stage Originally evolves by increasing beauty stat via feeding poffins/special food. Mirrors Zoro's Magikarp/Gyarados.
4) Milcery ♀️ -> Alcremie (Love-Sweet, Matcha)
Met on/at: Kamabakka Kingdom.
Background: Aided him in improving his cooking and fighting skills. Let him vent about Iva and the others, eventually then about the Strawhats and his worries. Prefers cooking to fighting but doesn't shy away from a fight. Very calm and collected.
Evolved: Over the two years. Sanji picked her up while talking/venting over a long night and started gushing. Did his spinny thing.
Reasoning: Food Pokemon.
5) Type: Null ⚧️ -> Silvally
Met on/at: Germa Kingdom.
Background: Found in the Germa cloning lab being experimented on during WCI. Broke them free out of rage during his fight with his siblings, telling it to run. It ran off but found him and Luffy later, tentatively joining them because it didn't know where to go. Sanji had a difficult time looking at them at first but they were able to bond over time. Treats Rattata like an older sibling.
Evolved: During the fight with Queen in Wano. Was brought to tears as Queen tried to kill them and berated them on being Judge's work, given hope when Sanji denied him. Broke their helmet to stand with him.
Reasoning: Artificially created based on a God (Arceus), comparable to the theory that the Vinsmokes were trying to recreate Devil Fruit abilities (hence the swirl brows). Also, helmet, and the symbology of destroying the helmet thanks to friendship and to become stronger. “Through the bond it formed with its Trainer, its will was strengthened, and it was able to destroy its control mask.”
6) Bounsweet ♀️ -> Steenee -> Tsareena
Met on/at: Wano.
Background: Lived in the flower capital of Wano. Hung out around Sanji's noodle stand after he opened it. Befriended Rattata and snuck into Sanji's pocket with them. Didn't really have a reason, very air-headed and doofy. Not a single thought in their head. Doted on by Sanji nonetheless. Surprisingly vicious in a fight upon evolving.
Evolved: First during the battle at Onigashima, then again later at Egghead Island.
Reasoning: Leggy Pokemon.
Special Note: Afraid of Bug Type Pokemon.
Chopper:
1) Egg -> Happiny ♀️ -> Chansey -> Blissey
Met on/at: Jaya.
Background: Found as an egg in the forest of Jaya, while they were looking for a South Bird. Hatched during the freedom party in Skypiea and imprinted on Chopper. Likes to hide under his hat or in his backpack before evolving.
Evolved: First evolved over the timeskip and then again at Wano.
Reasoning: OG healing Pokemon. Pink.
2) Audino ♀️
Met on/at: Torino Kingdom.
Background: Was learning medicine alongside Chopper. Chose to go with him after being told stories of the Strawhats’ adventures by Chopper (half out of admiration, half out of horror over the injuries gotten).
Evolved: Gifted a Mega-stone by the birds (it was in their shiny stash).
Reasoning: Another good nurse Pokemon. Mega-evolves like Chopper's forms.
3) Smoliv ♂️ -> Dolliv -> Arboliva
Met on/at: Zou.
Background: Was touched by the Strawhats saving the Minks. Wants to help people like Chopper does. Doesn't like fighting. Helps tend to Chopper's medicinal garden.
Evolved: For the first time at WCI and then again later while breaking Luffy out of jail in Wano.
Reasoning: Kind Pokemon. Seed Sower ability causes healing. Good support for medical care.
Special Note: Chopper isn't wholly comfortable with having Pokemon partners thanks to his own animal nature. The three he has wouldn't take no for an answer. He treats them more like students or assistants. He can understand Pokemon-speak though it's like deciphering a very thick accent.
Robin:
1) Budew ♀️ (Shiny) ⭐️ -> Roselia -> Roserade
Met on/at: Ohara
Background: Only friend before Saul arrived. Escaped with her when Ohara burned. Extremely protective of her, slow to trust others. Will have no mercy on those that betray or threaten Robin. Relaxes a bit after Enies Lobby, trusting the Strawhats unconditionally to have their back.
Evolved: First evolved not long after escaping Ohara, while protecting a sleeping Robin. Evolved again a couple years down the line when she started going through pirate crews.
Reasoning: Comparable to Robin's Devil Fruit. Shiny colors for darker feelings.
2) Galarian Yamask ♂️ -> Runerigus
Met on/at: Random Ruins
Background: Met in some ruins during her travels to find the Poneglyphs. Likes to people watch. Tends to accidentally creep on others without meaning too, forgetting that ghost powers frighten people.
Evolved: Before joining Crocodile.
Reasoning: Runes. History based and creepy.
3) Cofagrigus ♀️
Met on/at: Random Ruins.
Background: Similar to above. Tried to lure her to her death but was soundly defeated. Was told her goals, piquing their curiosity, and decided to join her. Likes when Robin reads to them or talks about her latest discoveries. Also likes pranking/scaring Usopp, Chopper, and Brook.
Evolved: Before meeting Robin.
Reasoning: Sarcophagus. History stuff. Lottsa hands.
4) Unown (D) ⚧️
Met on/at: Skypiea.
Background: Met while looking through the ruins. Helped her figure out where the bell and Poneglyph were. Feels a pull towards Poneglyphs but cannot explain why. Often seems nervous for no particular reason.
Reasoning: Mysterious. D.
5) Zorua ♀️ (Hisuian) -> Zoroark
Met on/at: Random Island.
Background: Met while traveling with the Revolutionary Army. Was a rescue from an island ravaged by bad marines. Originally meant to be given to the marines in a trade before the RA showed up. Apparently was a regular dark type at that point but died in the ensuing chaos, then somehow came back. Was feral and lashing out in the RA's care but Robin was able to get through to them. Bonded over their painful histories. Wants to help see Robin's dream through.
Evolved: Over the two years.
Reasoning: History of Zoroarks being hunted similar to Robin being hunted by marines. Contrast between Unovan and Hisuian, pairs well with Robin originally seeking death before the Strawhats. Illusions good for evading people.
6) Houndour ♂️
Met on/at: Wano.
Background: Belonged to the Beast Pirates. Was newly hatched when it witnessed Robin fight Black Maria. Felt safe and confused Robin for their mother. Tried to protect her from Brooke when she passed out afterwards. Very cuddly. Loves kisses. Gets dressed up in little outfits.
Evolved: No. Too baby.
Reasoning: Demon dog but actually very sweet. Demonic doesn’t mean evil or bad. Similar to Robin's demon form.
Franky:
1) Squirtle ♂️ -> Wartortle -> Blastoise
Met on/at: Outskirts of Water 7.
Background: Was one of the kids of the Blastoise that saved Franky after being thrown overboard. Was fascinated by him. Stuck around and help fish him out again after being hit by the train.
Evolved: First evolved while trying to pull Franky to safety after the train accident. Later evolved again while running the Franky Family.
Reasoning: Canons. Big, sturdy Pokemon.
2) Golett ⚧️ -> Golurk
Met on/at: The junk ship.
Background: Met after Franky was hit by the train. Was haunting around the scrap heap. Was inspired by how Franky rebuilt himself. Likes to have funky designs painted on their armor, like Franky's star arm tattoos.
Evolved: At Thriller Bark.
Reasoning: Toy-robot like.
3) Galarian Zigzagoon ♀️ (Shiny) ⭐️ -> Linoone -> Obstagoon
Met on/at: Water 7
Background: Stray that he picked up after returning to Water 7. Escaped from visiting pirates. Part of the Franky Family gang, helping steal from pirates. Loves parties and loud music. Leaps before looking.
Evolved: Evolves for the first time while infiltrating Enies Lobby to save Franky and Robin. Evolves again at Dressrosa.
Reasoning: Gang-related (via Sw/Sh), loud and unapologetic. Actually not a bad guy. Shiny as the bright colors match Frank better and stand out more. Goofy.
4) Varoom ♀️ -> Revavroom
Met on/at: Water 7.
Background: Picked up by the Franky Family. Helped power-up Franky's bigger inventions. Can join together with General Franky to give him a boost in strength as well as some poison abilities, and with the Sunny for an emergency boost if low on cola.
Evolved: During the timeskip.
Reasoning: Car. Gang-related (via Sc/Vi). Still not the bad guys. Mechanical.
5) Miraidon ⚧️
Met on/at: Baldimore.
Background: Met at Vegapunk's abandoned lab. Inspired many of Franky's updates and inventions. Timid around new people. Likes Franky because he smells like metal and oil. Is introduced to burgers by Franky, having an enlightening moment. Can be bribed with promises of burgers or fries. Is capable of connecting to any Vegapunk system to download or transfer data. Does not necessarily understand what it means or how to decrypt it.
Reasoning: Motorcycle. Extremely technologically advanced. No line between machine and beast/man. Sandwich gag. Relation to famous scientist.
6) Tinkatink ♀️ -> Tinkatuff -> Tinkaton
Met on/at: Dressrosa.
Background: Was confused as a toy at first. Kept trying to use parts of Franky to make a hammer. Constantly following him and almost getting hurt during the big battle. He liked their spunk. Cannot be left unsupervised in the workshop or they'll keep making bigger and bigger hammers from whatever it finds.
Evolved: First by the end of Dressrosa and then again Egghead Island.
Reasoning: Goofy but strong.
Brook:
1) Chatot ♂️
Met on/at: Random passing ship.
Background: Met while drifting at sea. Their old partner was killed, so they found comfort in each other. Liked Brooke's singing. Officially joined him after Thriller Bark.
Reasoning: Parrot+Pirate=✅️. Musical.
2) Cubone ♂️ -> Alolan Marowak
Met on/at: Thriller Bark.
Background: Lost their family and original partner. Joined Brook tentatively after seeing him mourn his crew in front of their grave.
Evolved: During the two years. One of the few Ghosts Brook isn't afraid of.
Reasoning: Dead friends. “This Pokémon sets the bone it holds on fire and dances through the night as a way to mourn its fallen allies.” Reminds me of Brook's big attack in WCI.
3) Sewaddle ♂️ -> Swadloon -> Leavanny
Met on/at: Sabaody.
Background: Fell onto Brook while they were running from Kuma, was sent with him during the split. Was comforted by Brook and eventually partnered with him. Reminds Brook of his late partner Kricketune. Likes to dance when Brook plays music. Sadly not very good at making music or playing any instrument despite practice but has fun all the same.
Evolved: Both over the timeskip.
Reasoning: Similar to a Kricketune. Agile, light, with sword arms. Similar to Brook.
4) Toxtricity ♀️
Met on/at: Random Island.
Background: Met while touring during the two years. Helped Brook explore more modern music methods. Played back-up while he toured. Tends to accidentally shock Brook when excited. Gets along very well with Franky's Obstagoon.
Evolved: Before meeting Brook.
Reasoning: Represents Brook's electric guitar.
5) Popplio ♀️ -> Brionne -> Primerina
Met on/at: Fish-man Island.
Background: Originally apprenticing with the mermaid cafe/dancers. Heard Brook's music and wanted to learn from him. Thinks he's hilarious, though they don't know what panties are. Will show him random items when he asks to see someones. Gossip buddies with Sanji's Milotic.
Evolved: During the fight with Giolla and again at WCI.
Reasoning: Singer. Also mermaid related, goes well with his perv nature/gags.
6) Fuecoco ♂️ -> Crocalor -> Skeledirge
Met on/at: Dressrosa.
Background: Big Soul King Brook fan. Recognized the Strawhats at Dressrosa and followed them. Sneaks aboard to Zou to meet Brook. Was disappointed by his frazzled appearance at Zou at first but stuck around. Was won over by his dedication on WCI. Strong but prefers making music to fighting.
Evolved: First on WCI then again during the Onigashima battle.
Reasoning: “Skeledirge’s gentle singing soothes the souls of all that hear it.” Also goes well with his electric guitar.
Special Note: He did have another team before his death but they too passed away. He also refuses to have a Wailmer/Wailord on his team as it would feel disrespectful, like trying to replace Laboon (a normal whale). Afraid of Ghost type Pokemon - takes time to adjust to Robin's team.
Jimbe:
1) Basculin ♂️ -> Basculegion
Met on/at: Fish-man Island.
Background: Childhood partner. Has always been by his side. Very honorable and willing to sacrifice for the greater good, though they're not always sure what that is exactly.
Evolved: Evolved fighting off bad human pirates, almost dying. Before Jimbe joined the royal guards.
Reasoning: Old-man fish. Can embody loss and perseverance against racism.
2) Oshawott ♂️ -> Dewott -> Hisuian Samurott
Met on/at: Fish-man Island.
Background: Met when he joined the royal guards. Belonged to them in general. Was partnered up with Jimbe. Didn't get along at first but grew to understand each other. Didn't really agree with leaving the guard or trust Arlong but respected Jimbe and went with him to expand their horizons.
Evolved: First while working as the royal guards and then evolved again while sailing under Fisher-Tiger.
Reasoning: Honorable, samurai-like.
3) Poliwhirl ♂️ -> Poliwrath
Met on/at: Random sea.
Background: Met after becoming a pirate. Had anger issues and went with Jimbe after losing to him, wanting revenge. Calmed with age but will blow a fuse if pushed hard enough.
Evolved: While sailing under Fisher-Tiger. Stole a Waterstone off a marine ship.
Reasoning: Fighting. Similar rage to Jimbe in his youth.
4) Kubfu ♀️ -> Rapid-Strike Urshifu
Met on/at: Random Island.
Background: Joined after Jimbe became a Warlord. Met him as he traveled the lands. Tried to pick a fight but was no match. Was taught Fish-man Karate by Jimbe.
Evolved: After mastering Fish-man Karate and being gifted a Water Scroll.
Reasoning: Represents Jimbe opening himself to humanity after Fisher-Tiger and Koala. Water based fighter. Karate.
5) Herdier ♂️ -> Stoutland
Met on/at: WCI.
Background: Met during WCI. Had bumped into him in passing a couple times before and witnessed his showdown with Big Mom. Was greatly moved by his resolve. Having slowly built up resentment for Big Mom's treatment of her family and disregard for life, they defected and aided their escape. Partnered with Jimbe but was requested to go ahead with the Strawhats both as proof they'd meet again and so he'd know they're being watched over by such an honorable soul.
Evolved: After Jimbe returned, at the Onigashima battle.
Reasoning: “This extremely wise Pokémon excels at rescuing people stranded at sea or in the mountains.” Similar honorable/proud nature. Dependable like Jimbe.
Special Note: Jimbe still has space for one more Pokemon to represent how new he is to the Strawhats and is still carving his place. Will fill the space in time.

Hazbin Pokemon (Part 2)
Angels and Exorcists.
Vaggie's Team: Silvally -> In the poke-verse all Exorcists own one of these. As they were created to fight. Absol (Eventual Mega) -> A winged moody pokemon, whose often misunderstood why would I not add this to her team. Primeape/Annihilape -> Honestly figured this suited her more grumpy nature and when it evolves, his change is similar to Vaggie's slow but there is progress. Granbull -> A grumpy pup that constantly wears the same glare as Vaggie.. Every.. Day.. Flygon -> She may not be able to fly but that doesn't mean she can't take her lovely girl out for a flight. Corviknight -> Just her having a knight, her winged shield who can protect her. Not that she needs it. ----
Adam's Team: (The Chad team of Chad's) Buzzwole -> A pokemon that is known for it's muscle mass) Infernape -> Adam owning the wukong of monkey pokemon yea why wouldn't he. Swampert (Mega) -> Adam believes Swampert to be okay until it mega evolves, then he sees his "true" potential. Machamp -> I can definitely see this being Adam's ace pokemon, why.. Honestly just looking at it, if I have to tell you why it's pointless. Electivire -> He'll admit Electivire creeps him out but he's big and strong, enough said. Poliwrath -> A strong wrathful toad to do his bidding, yes of course he has to own one. ----
Lute's Team: Silvally -> As I said all exorcists own one. Salamence (Mega) -> A hostile speedy dragon who has a bad temper and will slaughter anyone in it's path. Need I say more. Kartana -> Its literally a sentient set of blades who will do her bidding. Mandibuzz -> It picks on the weak and wears their bones like armor as well as to show off. Kind of reminds me of Lute keeping demons blood on her to show it off. Krookodile -> A pokemon that rips its victims in two with it's strong jaws. Seems right up Lute's alley to me. Weavile -> A crafty pokemon that sneaks in and brutally attacks. Too easy. ----
Sera's Team: Pheromosa -> Honestly I just liked her for the look. Seems suitable. Zekrom -> Her sticking so harshly to her ideals, honestly how could I not give her Zekrom. Froslass -> Capable of freezing others in place, much like Sera can do with a stare. Blissey -> Put on a good front for everyone after all she does care for her people at least. Meloetta -> All angels have little pretty singing pokemon. So seemed suitable. Rapidash (Shiny/Galarian) -> Honestly I just liked how it looked with her. ----
Emily's Team: Furret -> Something cute that's it. Emily loves cute fluffy things. Cosmog -> Her little legend of choice is going to be one who still can't decide where or what they'll be. Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales -> Again fluffy and cute need I say more. Meganium -> A pokemon that helps calm her people down in times of stress or worry. Delcatty -> A sassy cat with a timid master. Yea Emily loves her regardless. Ponyta (Galarian) -> She wanted to be like Sera at one point, so she got a pokemon like hers. Plus again fluffy and cute.

Gen III, Complete!
That's right, we've hit another milestone and completed the polls of the lovely Pokemon of the ever beautiful Hoenn region!
As such, I'd like to take a moment to commemorate this generations...
Sultans of Smash!
(Which is just a fancy way of saying they got more "Smash" than "Pass" votes)
So, come with me as we see who's who in the world of Smashing! Our Smashables are (under the Read More because oh man this gonna take a while, especially since I couldn't help but get a bit verbose this time):
1. An oddity! Starting our list is not a Stage 3 Starter Evolution, but a Stage 2 Starter Evolution! It's Grovyle, who has presumably been (understandably) elevated by the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon fans to a respectable 58.3% Smash Rating! This gives Grovyle the honor of being the first Starter Pokemon on the list to not be a final evolution!
2. But, let us not underestimate Grovyle's evolution, Sceptile! Weighing in at a cool 60.2% Smash rating for Standard Form and 57.7% for Mega Sceptile, it seems the evolutions have done nothing to trim back this leafy lizard's appeal.
3. Bringing up our next position on the list, we have the venerable Blaziken, the first of the Fire/Fighting starters! And, it seems, a real master of smashing, with a 71.8% rating in Standard Form and a 72.5% rating as Mega Blaziken! Seems the heat of their fans' passion is very much a match for the flames of Blaziken's kicks.
4. And of course, like Kanto and Johto before this, we have the pleasure of also announcing the water starter has made it! That's right, Swampert has made waves in the world of smashing, and achieved a solid 60.6% Smash rating in Standard Form, and an even better 63.1% as Mega Swampert! Guess it's true, Anchor Arms really do make everyone love you...
5. And up next, we have everyone's favorite domesticated hyena (there's a phrase I don't think exists outside of Pokemon), Mightyena! Though seemingly mean and vicious, they're a real sweetheart when you get to know them, and judging by their 55.4% Smash rating, boy howdy have a number of y'all gotten to know Mightyena! Also, fun fact, hyenas are closer to cats than dogs genetically speaking. Another fun fact, hyenas actually have pretty similar social structures and capabilities to what the Pokedex describes of Poochyena and Mightyena! Anyways, animal behavior lesson over, lets move on!
6. I think we all saw this next one coming, as their grace, elegance, beauty, and devotion to their trainer have captivated many since the earliest days of Ruby and Sapphire's release. Gardevoir takes their rightful place among the Sultans of Smash, with a dazzling 78.6% Smash rating in Standard form and a wonderful 75.1% rating as Mega Gardevoir! It truly is lovely to see that so many of you appreciate Gardevoir as much as Gardevoir appreciates you.
7. Do you, by chance, appreciate a partner with a powerful bite? Because if so, you may have been one of the ones who helped Mawile get elected to the Sultans of Smash! While their Standard Form earned themselves a respectable 58.4% Smash rating, their Mega Evolution takes it even further! How much further? Well, how about taking it to an absolutely stunning 70.7%?! Guess that extra jaw just adds that much more to love.
8. People, it seems, appreciate a number of things. Many appreciate the fine metals that can be found here on Earth. Many appreciate monsters, big and small (especially the big ones as this next Pokemon shows). And many appreciate someone who will help the environment. So it's probably no surprise that many people really appreciate those three things put together in the form of Aggron, the metal giant monster who plants new trees in their claimed territory! At 60.7% Smashable in Standard form and an unusually lacking in decimal places 55% Smashable in Mega Evolution, it seems consensus has agreed that Aggron also has "Smashable" as an appreciable point.
9. How do you feel about roses? Because to many, there's just something about roses that gives them that certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. And it seems Roselia, the Pokemon embodying roses, has inherited that something! At 52.8%, Roselia certainly has a certain romance to them! Though, uh, like with Tentacruel, maybe keep some antidotes on hand, just in case you accidentally touch the roses and find yourself on the business end of Roselia's poison...
10. Dragons! No matter the form they take, it seems they captivate the imagination and romance of many people. And Flygon is no exception. Maybe it's their power and their always appreciated typing of Ground/Dragon. Or maybe it's those lovely greens tastefully accented with red. Whatever it is, it's gotten them a nice 59.1% Smash rating!
11. Well, seems Houndoom's no longer the only member of the "My Mega is More Smashable" club, because we have another entrant. Altaria, that fluffy bird of cotton and unexpected dragon power, has made on the list thanks to their Mega Evolution succeeding where the Standard Form failed, and achieving a 52.9% Smash rating! Guess that added fluffiness really adds something. Still, also like Houndoom, respect must be given to standard Altaria, as they got pretty close to smashable at 46.5%.
12. This next one does as their name indicates (if you know Japanese) and cuts their way through the competition to land on the list! That's right, Zangoose has achieved a 66.5% Smash rating and made a name for themselves within the Sultans. Though, there's probably a comedy to be found somewhere in the fact that a Pokemon so associated with cutting should be voted as being associated with a verb usually reserved for more blunt objects. ...No? Just to me? Darn.
13. But as near anyone can tell you, Zangoose has a rival, and no way in hell is Seviper gonna let their rival take a spot uncontested! So, having worked had to get a 51.6% smash rating, they've arrived to ensure Zangoose has to work to keep that spot of theirs! At least that's what they want you to think, but I'll let you in on a little secret: That wasn't fighting they were doing earlier. Totally and definitely unrelated note, did you know Seviper and Zangoose share egg groups? ...Also unrelated, how do you feel about walking around and hatching eggs?
14. She's beauty, she's grace, her pre-evolution's annoying as hell to find in Gen III thus preventing many from having her as their ace, it's Milotic! Considered one of the most beautiful Pokemon in world thanks to their beautiful, prismatic scales and elegant moves in the water, that impressive 77.4% Smash rating would certainly seem to back this!
15. It's said in the Hoenn region that one must be careful how they get rid of their old dolls, as a doll that feels cruelly abandoned may come back to get their vengeance. And for good reason, as nobody wants a visit from an angry Banette. ...Or at least, so you'd think, but judging by the 51.1% Smash rating in Standard form and that vastly increased 71.5% rating as Mega Banette, I'm starting to think some of y'all would abandon a doll intentionally to get a Banette to come to you. Unless... y'all are hoping to show Banettes the love they never received back before they became a ghost doll? In which case, admirable!
16. Nobody wants to be like Cassandra the Oracle. To be like Cassandra is to have nobody believe you when you foresee disaster, or worse, be blamed for it! And sadly, that's just what has happened for this Pokemon. But for you all reading this, I commend you, for according to these numbers, you've seen past the superstitions and realized that, in truth, Absol was simply trying to warn people! Indeed, between Standard Form's 77% Smash rating and Mega Absol's whopping 80.4% rating, it seems people are finally giving Absol the proper reverence they deserve, though I'm sure that beautiful white fur and excellent form doesn't hurt.
17. Bagon have always dreamed of soaring the skies, and like any good dream, with hard work and determination that comes true upon reaching their final evolution of Salamence! But what they didn't tell them was that getting there would also make them hella smashable (55.3% smashable to be precise!) Though sadly, it seems there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing", as Mega Salamence lacks they smashability of Standard Form...
18. Once again, these next two prove my point about dragons absolutely capturing the passions of many. First off, we have the sister of the two Eon Dragons, Latias! Coming in at 64.1% for Standard Form and 56.2% for Mega Latias, the smashability of this dragon cannot be understated.
19. But, let us not downplay the brother in this. Latios has also made great impacts in the world of Pokesmashing! With an even 58% rating in Standard Form and a 54.4% rating as Mega Latios, it seems this dragon won't be too far behind Latias.
20. "See this fish? I'm gonna wrestle it." These are the words of a... shall we say, well known fan of this next Pokemon. Yes, it is time for Kyogre, the leviathan of Hoenn, to take their place in the Sultans of Smash! Coming in at 51.3% Smashable in Standard Form and 52.7% Smashable after Primal Reversion, seems this fish has more than one way to make someone wet, eh?
21. But of course, much like with the rivalry of Zangoose and Seviper mentioned above, Kyogre's rival just can't let them get away with this so easily! Fortunately for their rivalry (but probably not so much for everyone else), the behemoth of Hoenn Groudon has managed to pull themselves a 54.5% Smash rating in standard form and a 51.4% after Primal Reversion, ensuring they can be there to quarrel with Kyogre again! Jeez, wish we had someone who could tell them to knock it off...
22. Oh wait, we do! More specifically, we have Rayquaza with the steel chair! OK maybe we don't have the steel chair but none the less, Rayquaza's two ratings of 71.2% (Standard Form) and 67.3% (Mega Evolution) means Rayquaza will also be here to make sure those two behave! Because otherwise, Rayquaza's gonna have to show them how Mega Rayquaza made Smogon Ubers into An Actual Tier.
23. And last, but certainly not least, we have a visitor! Where do they come from? Oh, space! Yes, our final entry into the Sultans of Smash is the first Mythical Pokemon to be available through normal gameplay, Deoxys! At four forms, all of which have been voted Smashable at 79.8% for Normal Forme and Attack Forme, 58.1% for Defense Forme, and 73.6% for Speed Forme! But, not surprising. With 5 formes, there's surely something for everyone! Also, props to the person who made the "call Speed Deoxys Amtrak the way they high speed rail" joke, that got one of the best laughs out of me in a while.
And thus, we bring the Gen III Who's Who of Smashing to a close, bringing us up to an even 66 Sultans of Smash! Don't touch that unfollow button, we have more coming soon no doubt!

Have Kip and Twig ever thought about finding thier mega stones?
Kip is only a marshtomp and isn't interested in doing the intensive labor necessary to evolve into a swampert and be able to use a mega stone. He's happy as is, and doesn't feel a need to access the immense power within a mega stone. He's an archaeologist, and rarely encounters situations where he needs to fight anymore. And even in the moments where such things would be useful, Sen is always nearby, and she knows how to use Hyper Beam with what is a frankly concerning degree of force, accuracy, and efficiency. He doesn't think he'd be much use when using a mega stone if he somehow ended up evolving— Sen is fast enough that he doubts he'd be able to pull out a mega stone fast enough to use it before she dispatched any threats.
Twig, meanwhile, if I ever decide she truly does canonically evolve, would do so in such a manner that she's in a constant state of mega evolution as a charizard-Y! The gal would basically end up getting one of those slivers that your body decides it's okay with never getting rid of and just healing around, but it's a small fragment of charizardite instead of a splinter of wood. Before then, though, she had considered looking into getting a mega stone, but decided against it when she saw how expensive they are.

MY POKEMON BRAINCELLS HAVE BEEN REACTIVATED!!!!!! i kinda wanna open trainersona + pokemon team comms but i still gotta finish my current queue shjkdfg n i would be posting this on my art acc but i made the draft in my main so :((
also watch me ramble about my dream team under the cut
alRIGHT YOU CLICKED THE READ MORE AND YOU’RE IN FOR A WORLD OF WORDS BABEY!!! let’s start w my trainer sona yeah? :]
enterr Sploo from Petalburg city! :D he/they. our trainer starts out in petalburg city of hoenn where his pokemon adventure begins! since the professor’s lab is just a few town away it doesn’t take much for them to get his hands on his starter pokemon treecko! the babey boy ;; he catches lotsa pokemon to fill out the dex, sometimes keeping them on his team, and other times letting them go. he doesn’t like having the pokemon all crammed in the pc boxes :( some pokemon stay for a few battles and others maybe a few days, but things change after defeating his first gym. he meets an electrike at route 110 under the seaside cycling road, she’s just a lil puppyyy a lil babeeeyyy ;;;; super fun playful lil guys sticks around the team! -w- after his fourth gym badge his parents give him a gift pokemon for making it halfway through the gym challenge! a klefki! :3 a tame n helpful lil guys who just enjoys holding keys -w- sploo then continues on to complete two more gyms before his family moves to alola.
now on the boat to alola with grovyle, manectric and klefki sploo kinda just stays by the side of the boat watching the waves go by -w- also trying not to get too seasick shjkdfgl a lone shiny fletchling perches by them and he tries real hard to keep the excitement in and offers the fletchling some sunflower seeds! and asks if the fletchling would like the join their team! i mean who wouldn’t wanna pass up the opportunity of having a shiny pokemon on their team? after docking at akala island sploo travels around and catches some more pokemon to register to the dex, releasing them after as usual. then upon exploring diglett’s tunnel he finds a cover fossil! after cleaning up the rocks and dirt off the fossil spectrobes origins wii style he brings it to the fossil restoration center just along the route and meets the fifth member of his team :] and finally the sixth member of the team! a jangmo-o found in poni canyon, sploo came across the jangmo-o with its head scale stuck in the branches of a fallen tree. he freed the jangmo-o and excpected it to run back to its herd but it kept challenging them for a battle. after a long fight the jangmo-o is worn out, and sploo helps it back up on its feet with some potions and a plate of oran berries. sploo sets up a little picnic in the canyon! :3 helping nurse the jangmo-o back to health -w- the lil dragon sneaks into sploo’s bag and brings out a pokeball in its maw, determination in its eyes. and that’s how the team get together! :D but if u think i am done u are soo wrong sjhkjdfgd now i’m gonna go more in depth with each team member >:]
let’s start with mister! the sceptile -w- he is a grass/dragon type even without the mega evolution bc we were robbed and it’s not fair that swampert and blaziken get double typings while sceptile stays just grass >:[ chill and laid back, my baby boy ;; starter pokemon! he has a sceptilite in the friendship bracelet sploo made for him! :3 when walking through forests and jungles and very tree dense areas he’s always out of his pokeball darting around through the trees while sploo walks through -w- sometimes sploo stops for a lil break so sceptile can take care of sick trees in the forets! when having picnics out in the wild he can be found sitting and photosynthesizing when not playing around the trees. and since sceptiles are cold blooded mister stays in his pokeball when travelling through colder icy areas and he also enjoys having flynt resting atop his head or nesting in his tail leaves -w-
next up is storm! the manectric! a playful steadfast and loyal companion -w- she likes being out of her pokeball a lot and walks with sploo through towns n stuff. she has the manectite embeded in her collar :3 and also sploo charges his phone, pokedex and pokenav+ by just stuffing the charger cable in her mane jshkdfg sploo keeps a pair of sturdy rubber gloves in his bag bc of her :P
steele! the klefki. a very mild mannered pokemon -w- the one who’s always out of its pokeball! other than holding sploo’s house keys it also holds his multitools! since they’re also made of metal and has more mass than keys it has more metal ions for klefki to feed on -w- sometimes sploo will punch holes in bottlecaps of drinks so steele can have more metal to feed on and to enhance its threatening jingle :] steele enjoys playing around with flynt a lot! flynt n steele ;-; they fly around a lot but don’t stray too far from sploo -w- steele does not participate in battles unless it’s to use fairy lock on a wild pokemon that sploo wants to catch
then there’s flynt! :D my shiny!!! >< flynt perches on sploo’s shoulder when travelling through frigid area to keep him warm ;-; also flynt uses fly to deliver handwritten letters to sploo’s friends! :D it lets flynt fly free and enjoy the wind when the pokeball starts feeling cramped -w- flynt finds an everstone as a fletchinder and starts sitting on it like an egg and gets really attached (like that eagle that’s sitting on a rock jshkdfg) so she just holds the everstone now :P
koopa! the tirtouga -w- a bit hard headed, koopa needs a while to warm up to new trainers. he was a bit hard headed to train but after a while things went more smoothly :] koopa loooves the beachside! :D he knows dive and surff and helps sploo travel through water terrain! it’s a lot like how koopa shells worked in super mario galaxy where you hold on to a shell and it propels you through the water :3 stays in his pokeball most of the time unless it’s by the beachside or lake or any body of water
and last but not least rookie! the jangmo-o, a trusty and honorable battler! >:D much like ash's riolu from pokemon journeys! it takes a bit for the rookie to get used to the feeling of the chip in his head scale. but sooner or later rookie gets the hang of it -w- rookie loves getting to battle, but since sploo is a casual trainer and more focused on completing the dex and dragon types need more battling than usual to evolve dragon types rookie just stays as a jangmo-o :c not that he minds but yeagh
mister, storm, and rookie are the ones usually out for battles, flynt and koopa sometimes come out for battle too either when they get the urge or when they’re needed for certain type matchups! okay thank you for reading about my silly little guys they mean a lot to me and means a lot that you’d wanna read about them ;-;
#pokemon#sceptile#manectric#klefki#fletchinder#tirtouga#jangmo-o#trainer sona#aurughuhguhghghuh i love my teamm they r real to me ;;;;;

What are your thoughts on the pawmi line now that we've officially seen the evos?
Pawmo is one of the Pokemon of all time.
On the plus side, it is nice that Pawmi does evolve. Pikaclones always felt particularly useless when they're single-stagers with nothing else to bring to the table, so this is a good chance of pace.
But on the minus side, the whole existence of this thing is just baffling. Who was looking at Pawmi like "clearly a middle evo is needed to help transition between the EXTREME DIFFERENCE of Pawmot being bipedal and slightly fluffier"? This is like, Gen 1 levels of underwhelming evolution, and all it does is weaken an already weak line.
It's also a bit disappointing to see it take this direction just because Pawmi was one of the only Pikaclones to not stand on its hind legs or smile… and the first thing it does upon evolving is throw out the only two things it had going for it. Not that big of a deal, but there's so little going on with it that I feel like it's necessary to mention.
Most of the actual critique I can give applies to Pawmot, so I'll wait until that section to go into more detail. The only Pawmo-specific thing that it's bizarre that its colors are paler than Pawmi's when Pawmo's go back to the same shades (I think. A little hard to tell with in-game lighting). Other than that, it sure is A Pokemon.
If you ignore Pawmo, Pawmot is... okay. It's not terrible, but it definitely feels like it lacks a clear focus. It has no clear visual direction or theme; nothing to make it stand out in someone's mind. The Pikachu line has their lightning-bolt shaped tails, for example; Plusle and Minun have the positive and negative charge thing. Pawmot kind of tries to have a defibrillator thing going on with it, but there's not nearly enough emphasis on the arms to do anything memorable with it.
There's quite a few more elements that I think could've been changed up here. For example, the face could've lost the lighter nose, or gained some red panda-esq stripes; the cheeks could've been lost or mimicked by the blue spots on their palms; the ears could've lost their teal color; the arms could've been much bigger, etc etc.
I feel like Pawmot could've been a middle stage in and of itself, and then you could've had a third stage that was even more different, but alas. I'm picturing some sort of red panda creature with huge fluffy boxing glove-esq arms and the body structure of Mega Swampert or something. Make the color more red as well and you start to have something that might at least visually represent the fighting-type if nothing else.
As a whole, this is a pretty mediocre line. The defibrillator theme they have is barely emphasized, and there's a lack of clear theme or visual direction in the designs that leave them vague and unmemorable. They also look too similar to each other for their own good, with Pawmo being particularly extraneous. They sure do Exist—but that's about it.

Asteria's Main Pokémon Team
As Champion of Hoenn, Asteria fields multiple different Pokémon teams. This one though is the one you are most likely to take on if you challenge her.
Swampert, male. Asteria's starter and her draconic bondmate, her Swampert is actually a hybrid of Swampert and Charizard and can take on different typings--Water/Fire and Fire/Ground. Whereas she usually tries to be diplomatic, he very much does not--it's the Charizard in him. In his opinion, however, she's just as stubborn as he is--she just hides it better.
Wisteria (Altaria, female). Asteria admittedly chose Wisteria as a Swablu for....kind of a petty reason when she was a kid--because Zinnia's ace Pokémon was her Bagon and she wanted a Dragon-type who would also be able to counter Zinnia with a Fairy-type when she Mega Evolved. She would soon get her comeuppance in the fact that the Pokémon she chose was shy, cowardly, not a natural battler and definitely not down for participating in whatever rivalry she and her sister had going on. As their current Mega Evolution-worthy bond proves, however, Asteria was able to overcome her initial pettiness to actually appreciate Wisteria and train her properly--allowing her to become the Champion-tier fighting force she is today (who totally can still kick the ass of Zinnia's Salamence).
Kuzuryu (Kitzilla, female). A Kitzilla is the Fire/Dragon evolution of a Ninetales. These magnificent creatures of white, red and yellow fur and scales are exceptionally rare as they represent a form of ascension--leave it to a champion like Asteria to be able to find one. Asteria's Kitzilla is a tenko / zenko, a benevolent fox that in IRL Japanese myth is associated with Inari and in Pokémon verse is associated with Legendaries. The two are a perfect match personality wise, with a strong sense of both secular and sacred obligation but not without a streak of mischief.
Delphinium / "Delphi" (Absol, female). Delphi has both a flower name as is customary among Draconids and a nickname that certainly fits her abilities--of the many predictions she has made of disaster, she has never been wrong. The downside to this unerring power, however, is that no one will believe her until they see a prediction of disaster come true for them personally; they will then start to believe all her subsequent predictions, but the first one must always be learned the hard way. Asteria certainly learned that the hard way--as Delphi's first prediction for her was literally her sister's death.
Montsechia (Relicanth, male). Because the more obscure Pokémon need some love! Relicanth have been around unchanged for 100 million years AND their body patterns look like a treasure map with a red dot marking the spot--what's not to like about that? Asteria's Relicanth is an old, old grandpa from the bottom of the ocean--100 million years old, to be precise. And her team is usually high energy compared with this leisurely fellow, but he earned a place on it because his age means his defenses are so strong that it took her entire team working together just to put a dent!
Virgo (Skarmory, female). Draconids love Flying-types as much as dragons, and what's even better than a Flying-type to a Draconid? A Flying-type that's crossed with a dragon, of course! Virgo is a Noivern-Skarmory hybrid that Asteria bonded with in her community during her childhood. Her claim to fame is that when she uses Metal Sound, it actually causes damage--and with a Special Attack stat higher than a regular Skarmory's, that shit hurts! Virgo and Wisteria are also childhood friends and mates. If you're Asteria's friend and they trust you, you may be on the receiving end of a three-species hybrid egg baby!

Something about Pokemon starter types.
A lot of big stink was made back in the day about there being three Fire/Fighting type starters in a row, but I feel like not much attention has been given to how samey the starter's secondary types have been ever since the generation after. We'll skip Gen 8 cause well. It didn't have any secondary types.
Fighting Dark Psychic Fairy Dark Ghost Fighting Dark Ghost Fighting Dark Ghost
Fighting has remained on top as the most frequent secondary type for starters, but Dark and Ghost have rapidly risen to the #2 and #3 spots in recent years, with barely any other types getting used at all. The only other types that have been used more than once are Ground (Swampert and Torterra) and Flying (Charizard and Decidueye...'s pre-evolutions, because it gets its flying type replaced by fighting or ghost in the end). And while I don't expect a type like Dragon to ever be used for a (Non-Mega) starter, there are still more reasonable types like Electric and Ice that have never been used at all. It's strange how samey the trios have become in the back half of the franchise so far.
And while I'd like for them to try something new, I think the funniest possible continuation of this trend would be for Legends Z-A to feature a Fire/Ghost Emboar, making him both the third Fire/Fighting starter in a row and the third Fire/Ghost starter in a row.

Hi please use this ask as an excuse to talk more about your pokerus AU I love this kinda stuff and would like to hear more about it. You mentioned more character specific stuff and I am :eyes emoji: at just. the whole thing
LAUGHS EVILLY >:] THANK YOUU
Miscellaneous fun facts:
Steven canonically has the brain of a supercomputer because of the metagross part. Yes this means he’s basically Google. And also he can project the sounds of a video if you ask for it. I do this because I love comedy
People can learn Pokémon moves and have their abilities. With training they can control this at will
Lisia knows Draco Meteor and can summon it on command like this
Steven gets metagross eyes when he mega evolves. Run if you ever see it
Wallace has a calming presence because of milotic dna and is the only person to have successfully calmed down mega evolved people before.
Juan has the ability sniper and knows laser focus. So if he finger guns at you and he’s Mad At You, RUN.
I’m mashing up pokespe a lot with this au and Ruby and Sapphire are in place of Brendan and May because I don’t care about their gameverse interpretations that much. Ruby is Swampert and Sapphire is Blaziken
Ruby has self esteem issues because swampert isn’t a conventionally “cute” pokemon, but he gains confidence and self love over time due in major part to Wallace :]
Sapphire wants to battle in two ways now: fist fights, and Pokémon battles. She cannot be stopped.
Even though Winona doesn’t ever have a masquerain I’m making her once since Altaria is already taken. Bug ladies win
All water type pokerus people can breathe underwater. Also hoenn becomes more accessible because lots of water types are mermaids and need to use wheelchairs on land. Win!
Courtney and Tabitha are Houdoom and Mightyena respectively as a play on the “guard dog” idea
Shelly and Matt are Gorebyss and Huntail because they need more love and I like them

Than’s for the Pokemon AU question ok here one thing that I thought what kind of Battle Mechanic Phenomenon our Sing Trainers would be using like Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamax, or Terastal❔
Of course, i'm glad you liked the others! I'm so sorry for the delay in answering this one but I hope you still enjoy it! - <3 Gooseless
------------------------
There aren't that many trainers that actually fight in the Pokémon AU, as most characters are Performers. However, of the list of trainers, here's their battle mechanics I do think they would use!
However, since these aren't super common in the actual world of Pokémon, most of them won't have any, so just a warning. Also a warning, I'm giving out so many non official forms of Pokémon on this list... and since I know nothing about Terastal forms, I will not be including them just to be sure I don't mess up.
------------------------
Buster: Z-Moves (Rockium Z) with Sudowoodo
Eddie: None, doesn't battle much.
Mrs. Crawly: Gigatamax Machop.
Wildan (Meena's Grandfather): Mega Evolved Swampert.
Tahiyat (Meena's Grandmother): Mega Evolved Camerupt.
Aamanee (Meena's Mom): None, doesn't battle much.
Marcus: Mega Evolved Blastoise.
Stan: Z-Moves (Fightinium Z) with Hawlucha.
Barry: Z-Moves (Waterium Z) with Prinplup.
Jimmy: Gigatamax Glalie (I know it doesn't exist but it would be cool).
Jerry: None, doesn't battle much.
Judith: None.
Hobbs: Mega Evolved Gallade.
Mizuki: None.
Alfonso: None.
Nancy: None.
Suki: Mega Evolved Meowstic (I know it doesn't exist but it would be cool).

Soooooo about Pokemon Evolutions...
I am 99% sure this is overanalyzing but it’s fun for me to overanalyze so here goes: in the episode “The Wish” (aka the funny Zinnia episode) we see May battling Rayquaza with an Aggron, an Altaria, and a Swampert. As it turns out, these 3 Pokemon together all represent the idea of the various actors in the plot of ORAS uniting instead of fighting against each other to fulfill the same goals - Aggron is also used by Steven, Altaria is also used by Zinnia, and Swampert, as a water/ground type, represents a unity between land and sea (and a unity between Teams Aqua and Magma). But why the heck should I give a damn about this? Because this emphasis on cooperation is literally what allows the protagonist to save Hoenn - in the Delta Episode the player destroys the meteorite with Mega Rayquaza (Zinnia’s idea) but could never have done so without the meteorite (given by Professor Cozmo during the main story) and the access to Sky Pillar that Steven made Wallace give.

The whole encounter had her feeling a bit embarrassed, but for a brief moment- She felt what true mastery felt like.
She was bonded with Groudon, 40 feet in the air and standing on its head while it and Kyogre clashed- And she didn’t flinch. Her feet stayed planted, and she moved in sync with it, all the while pelting the other team with every spell in her arsenal.
Finn was acting independently of her that entire time, and was hanging on by a thread, but hung on long enough to focus his attacks on Rayquaza and down it- The Swampert could not have been more proud of himself… So proud he Earthquakes and hits nothing, but he was having the best time.
The fun quickly turned into fighting for her life when Red suddenly scaled up Groudons carapace, and she came face to face with his transformed abilities. She hadn’t seen hide or hair of him this entire time, but the new body he inherited from Kyogre struck her speechless.
He looked almost like a mermaid, or at least how folklore depicted them. She knew that the second he got this close, though, she was as good as dead. So she calls on her magatama, and among the animalistic clicking and screeching roared the spectral form of a Lugia, who only got a couple strikes in before Red pushed past it and went straight to punching.
One hit and she was out, Red striking her three more times before throwing her off Groudons head and into the water below. While she blacked out, she hit the water, and then suddenly she landed hard on a stone platform up above the battle, air returning to her lungs in that moment as she came back to consciousness. Seems the gods took mercy on them and stabilized them.
Of course…
The rest of the battle is a spectacle of watching Giovanni and Red duke it out one on one, with Red becoming the victor by a thin margin.
The gods rumble with satisfaction, and Groudon in her ears praises her for her strength, and proclaims her a Master of the earth… And she can feel a constant warmth coming from the chunk of origin bedrock in her necklace, the stone almost pulsing with Groudons presence and blessing, and she brings it up to her forehead and closes her eyes, shaking...
She’s emotional, to say the least.
The way put of the cave is pointedly spent collecting stones. Several unaspected crystals of infinity energy- Mega stones that had yet to be tuned to a pokemon. She’s quick to assign one to Fafnir and Oberon, bringing her total of Mega Capable pokemon to four. Finally, she takes an unaspected one for herself, one that will become a keystone as soon as she finds the proper mount for it.
She has too many necklaces already… Something to think on.
Wallace bombards her with questions the second they cone out of the cave, and she reaches up to pat his shoulders and do what she can to ease his worries, even though her face is still covered in scales and her body in bruises… Sorcha suggests travelling to Lavaridge to take part in the Hot springs, and she wholeheartedly agrees. They’ll make a mission out of it, travelling across Hoenn and helping out where they can on the way there as the region rebuilds from the catastrophe.
It’s going to be a long week, but she absolutely needs the rest.

Send me 💡 and my muse will tell yours what ability they think fits yours!
Khare couldn't have been happier as she shut down her file of Omega Ruby. Getting ahold of an actual honest-to-god Nintendo 3DS had seemed an impossible dream even just a few short months ago but here she was now with one of the handheld consoles and one that was still in relatively good condition. Whether somebody was downsizing their belongings or just needed some extra cash fast, she'd lucked out and was the lucky new owner of a game that blew her tired old copy of Pokémon Crystal out of the water. It had been a relatively quiet night without much to do so Khare had managed to sink a couple of hours into the game by morning. By the time eight rolled around, her shift ended and like clockwork she spied the familar figure of Rorschach walking past the diner window in his civilian disguise, waiting for her to leave so he could walk her home through the morning crowd. Khare never thought Rorschach was one for a kid's game and idly tried to imagine explaining to him a game about catching colourful monsters and making them fight to level up. In all the time she'd known the vigilante, he'd never mentioned a thing about his childhood but she didn't imagine there was very much of anything colourful back then, or anything fun. Still, she couldn't help but talk about it a little. Their conversations during their walk home often ended up one-sided anyway, and he'd said before how anything that could help jog her memory would be useful. "So the new - well, I wouldn't say new game exactly since it's already a few years old, but the remake is so much more detailed than the original games? Back on the old gameboy I mean, the graphics are so much better and there's twice, three times the amount of Pokémon there used to be even! Not only that but now there's Mega Evolution also. Check it out." Khare said as she initated battle against the next gym leader. Mega Swampert was going to have no trouble sweeping Winona. So many new Pokémon. So many new areas to go, and many abilities. Khare wondered if maybe in another life, Rorschach would like playing video games, and then her mind wandered, as to what kind of ability would suit him best. Guts? It had been useful on Makuhita, but Rorschach seemed more... Scrappy. There weren't any ghosts in Gotham... at least, none that she knew of, but if they did exist, she'd have no doubt Rorschach could and would punch it because nothing intimidated him whatever. She kept her thoughts about him and the game quiet though - he probably thought she was crazy spending perfectly good tip money on such a dumb game let alone thinking about abilities he would have!
#the-rorschach-mask#memes ;; what ability fits your muse#THIS ONE GOT LONGER THAN I EXPECTED AGSFSF#Sorry for the verbal drabble and tidal wave just#I got feelings all of a sudden and wrote a small novel about it#Rorschach definitely fits her idea of Scrappy though#He'll throw himself at anything and to hell with the fear!#Not like her being all cowardly asgfs :')#Meaner people would pick Stench but we don't do that to Ror here
