I feel obliged to add a disclaimer that cows are not your friends and they will hurt you if you get in their space. They are cute but they're not like puppies, they generally don't socialise with humans, they don't like strangers, and they weigh a whole lot and are not opposed to violence if it gets rid of whatever is making them uncomfortable.

Cows can be curious, they might want to investigate you to see how they feel about you! But unless you're with someone who knows those cows and their behaviour well, its best to keep a safe distance.

How am I in a place where I am absolutely like. Ready to pick a fight about cows? Clearly factory farming has damaged the image of cows beyond remedy. Absurd.

#like ngl i dont think factory farming has done shit to cows image because i have never in my life heard anyone say cows have dead eyes #unless they have like a phobia of cows #generally what i hear about cows is that theyre cute and gentle and friend shaped #so as someone whose family keep cattle and whose cousin was nearly trampled to death after getting too close to unfamiliar cows #they are cute. but theyre not your friends. they are barely domesticated herd animals who for the most part look after themselves #they get nervous around people and prefer not to be handled or approached by anyone they dont know #and theyre also fucking massive. like i cannot emphasise enough how fucking huge a cow feels when youre standing next to it #horses are taller but cattle are solid #and they will trample you if you make them too nervous. so keep your distance and be respectful to the cows #they are not pets.#they do not owe you anything. respect them like they are wild animals #obviously some situations lead to cattle that are better socialised with humans and less likely to startle or get uncomfortable #meeting new people etc. but never assume that about any cow you dont know. wait for someone who knows that cow to give you the all clear
