🌺 To place clutter on windowsill (and any window that has slots) first place backward so the shelf is on the outside of the building (with right click) place your clutter, then pick up the window & turn it around again & place.
Always suggested: bb.objects ON, it makes placing items much easier. For further placement tweaking, check out the TOOL mod.
You can raise & lower items with 0 and 9 on your keyboard.
Use the scale up & down feature on your keyboard to make the items larger or smaller to your liking. If you have a non-US keyboard, it may be different keys depending on which alphabet it uses.

A Complete Guide To Wardrobe Renovation
Do you feel like you have seen it all when it comes to the appearance and design of your house? Is there a lack of light, order, and openness in your closet? Perhaps, it is high time to update your wardrobe with some minor renovation ideas and improve the look of your home with a few interior design tips. Changing a couple of rooms or their areas could produce visible changes.
Wardrobe Renovation Ideas
Are you looking for Wardrobe renovation? A well coordinated and arranged wardrobe enables one to locate any item of clothing or an accessory desired at any given time. Besides, it gives you a positive feeling towards the rest of the day.
Wardrobe Renovation
Upgrade your current wardrobe with these renovation ideas:
Integrated storage – Add open shelving and drawers, hanging rods and shoe racks that are specifically arranged according to your closet preference.
Smart storage solutions – This includes the installation of specific storage areas for handbags, ties, accessories, out-of-season clothing, and so on. These are convenient for keeping items tidy yet within easy reach, as they are pulled out from the furniture.
Practical amenities – Think about a rotating closet – someone will bring the clothes to you. Design a custom bench or island for folding laundry. Place a mirror on the inside part of the wardrobe door for full-length outfit inspections.
Lighting – adequate lighting is required when it comes to lighting. Light the inside with LED strip lights for visibility and add accent lights or pendants overhead to make a compelling dressing area.
Material and color - Wood laminates in light or medium wood colors look fresh and contemporary. Think about painting the inside of it a light neutral color so that your clothes can be easily seen. Mirrored doors are also used to create the effect of more space.

Hello dearest friends! Wishing you a beautiful beginning of August! Flores set is what I would call an "entryway" set? It contains 16 new meshes, including closets (3 different door versions), front door, bench, side table, handbag, wall mirror & hooks, tray & keys, wall art, hanging sweater, hanger, basket, etc.! The door is functional for medium walls but looks gorgeous on tall as well. Looots of swatches for the wall art (both leaning and wall versions), and hopefully beautiful hallways/entryways for your simmies! Or bedrooms? I can totally see this set as part of a bedroom haha! Anyway you guys, I hope you like it & have fun with it!

(Pt 3 of the Adoption AU)
Some time as pass sense breakfast, the bench trio decided they wanted to explore the house more, Scar and Grian of course said it was alright, along as they were careful.
For what they saw, there was Grian and Scar’s bedroom, which was upstairs first door one the right, grey painted walls, oak flooring, white carpet, grey covers for the bed. There were pictures of the both of them all over the wall, and some more on a drawer, one of which they could guess was their wedding photo. The door beside it was what looked to be an office. It had a green light grey color scheme to it.
The walls were painted a swampy dark green, grey furry carpet in the middle of the floor, the floor itself looks to dark oak or jungle wood. There was a whole computer and monitor set up with a microphone and filming lights. There was also a very tall cat tower, with a medium size chest next to it, full with all sorts of cat toys.
The three guessed it was Scar’s office.
The first door on the left was another bathroom, which was the bathroom they got washed up in, the night before. The second door, showed what looked to be another office
This time it seem to have a red and white color scheme to it. The flooring was birch wood, with a fluffy red carpet in the middle, red and white triangles design walls, and another whole computer and monitor set up with a microphone and filming lights. And a red ceiling light.
They went back downstairs to check if they’re any other rooms.
They was a decent size room, which was all a cat furniture wall. (look those up they look amazing) the walls were painted a light grey, dark oak flooring, and green ceiling light. There was a cat carrying backpack and a cat leash hanging in the corner of the room. This must be Jellie’s own playroom.
“The cat gets her own playroom” Tubbo questioned.
“Her name is Jellie, and yes I think so, Grian did say Scar loves to spoil her, and my god was he not kiddind” Ranboo responded.
“Talk about it” Tommy mumbled.
God i wish i had a cat room for my cats.. I'd spoil em rotten if I had the money to do so LMAO
Love the house you've described tho

Rosenhex Dorm Building
The sixth youngest amongst the eight dorms, Rosenhex was founded on the teachings of the Witch of the Rose and thus incorporates primarily imagery related to the seaside and Mediterranean coast towns. The general atmosphere is a calm, relaxed one where the students enjoy the calming sounds of the sea and the fresh air in a mostly warm climate with regular rain showers. It is one of the medium sized dorms and it resembles a Mediterranean summer vacation mansion.
Entrance
The entrance to the dorm is a hidden keyhole on the door to the shed to the third botanical garden. Though simplistic in aesthetic, using the dorm key to open it will transport the student to the shore of the dorm. There they will find a stone staircase leading up to the hill where the dorm is situated.
Lounge
The Rosenhex lounge is an open courtyard, with wicker chairs and wooden tables situated all around. It is somewhat placed in the shade, so the girls can rest there even on a hot day. The surrounding architecture resembles a rustic style which is predominantly made of stone, along with vines and greenery abounding on top and down the walls. Those are mostly white, though the colour is very faded. Generally you can always find a few Rosenhex witches laying around enjoying the day and weather while idly chatting with one another about all sorts of topics.
Student Dorms
The dorm follows a minimalist, rustic design inside as well. The rooms have large windows so as to be able to let the sun come in easily, with the only important furniture being the bed, wardrobe and desk. The space is somewhat small, and because Rosenhex is one of the smaller dorms the rooms are singles. The wardrobe doors and the headboard and footboard are the most elaborate parts of the room, as they both employ specific symbols in their decor. Among them chief is the scallop that is often surrounded by imagery of doves carrying roses in their beaks. The only exception to this is the Prefect’s room which replaces the doves with swans instead.
Generally students are allowed to decorate their room however they want to, as long as they keep to the overall theme and do not choose anything too gaudy or clashing. This often means that the witches will choose to hang all sorts of pictures and portraits on their walls instead of adding any new piece of furniture, though exceptions have been noted as well.
Library
Though smaller in size than the regular dorm libraries, Rosenhex contains a sizeable collection of books on hexes, charms, social etiquette, art history, fashion and other such topics. Unlike the rest of the dorm building where it’s customary to leave the windows open, here they are permanently shut to avoid the humidity from affecting the conditions of the books there. The girls in charge of the library change every month so most students end up working there at some point or another.
Dining Room
The largest room in the dorm as it needs to house all of the members during breakfast and dinner, it is reminiscent of the typical rustic style that’s been associated with the rest of the dorm. The tables are long and made of strong oak wood, and accompanied by long benches which are standard for all the dorms. The room faces the ocean, offering the girls a beautiful sight while they eat, and the columns that are part of the room are decorated with a similar imagery that is found in the bedrooms.
Kitchen
Much like the rest of the architecture, it retains the simple, Spartan style which makes use of the minimalist aesthetic. It is predominantly utilitarian, even if the technology inside is rather old-fashioned, forcing the girls to rely on a mixture of magic and hard work to ensure that everything is taken care of and works properly.
Generally the girls take shifts when it comes to cleaning duty, with the meals usually being prepared by the Nisse Tomte who are given the night before a list of what they should prepare for breakfast and dinner the following day. The most popular dishes in this dorm are ones that contain chicken, fish meat, vegetables and fruits. Rosenhex witches are known for looking after their health and thus have a tendency to opt for food which is considered healthy for the body.
Special Feature: Beach
The pride of Rosenhex is the beautiful beach that extends all around the dorm building. It is the single most respected place in the entire dorm territory and the girls are required to take extra care of it and make sure it is always clean. It is traditional for witches of this dorm to spend an hour jogging on the beach as a tribute to the long journey the Witch of the Rose was said to have undergone before she met the Lady of Beauty. The starting point and finish line is an old statue, which, though in a very bad state, is still recognizable as depicting the figure of a beautiful, bald woman.
Some have theorized that the statue might represent the Witch of the Rose, as some myths claim that after swearing allegiance to her new Master, the witch shaved her head entirely as a means of showing her humility towards her saviour. It’s unclear however if this is true or not, but there have been cases of Rosenhex witches shaving their heads for their graduation as a sign of honouring the values of the dorm.
Rosenhex Stereotypes
Many make the mistake of writing off witches from this dorm as merely pretty faces with not a shred of wit to them. While Rosenhex certainly insists that one’s physical appearance be always well-maintained and looked after, they do not consider it acceptable for one to neglect their mind either. It’s true that while they might not excel in academic pursuits in the same manner the Grimmaire dorm does, they certainly should not be discredited. If one were to look at the history of the dorm, they would notice that Rosenhex has continuously placed in the top during finals ever since its founding. That is mostly because in order to properly understand the nature of charms and hexes one must have a sharp mind and outside-the-box thinking.
Due to the lifestyle of the dorm, Rosenhex witches tend to be very strong swimmers and are for the most part members of the swimming team. One of their favorite activities is to spend time on the beach or swim in the sea as they compete against each other.
Most of the members of this dorm are humans (70%) with the remaining (30%) being either beastman or fae. Merfolk students are very rare for this dorm.
Fruit bowls filled with golden apples are a common feature of this dorm. The reason for this is that it was said that the Lady of Beauty held this fruit as her symbol of triumph over others when a young shepherd declared her to be the most beautiful creature to walk the earth. Thus the golden apple has become sacred to the dorm as well, with witches usually preferring it as a light snack in between meals.
Witches of this dorm are the most upset about the school’s strict uniform rules, since it means they are not allowed to fully express themselves aesthetically. They are generally the ones that push the limits by wearing very light make-up, trying out interesting hairstyles or decorating their phone cases in outrageous styles. As a result they are usually seen as the trend-setters of the school, to the point that even beehives were considered very fashionable during a time.
Because of their talent at hexes, Rosenhex witches usually function as matchmakers for the Spring Debutante Ball. Offering counseling for the girls who want to find dates for the event, they rely on two particular books “The Sword” and “The Raven” which are long accounts of the students from Royal Sword Academy and Night Raven College. They detail things such as the boys’ height, appearance, disposition, school grades and even general dietary preferences. The books are considered so valuable that only the oldest members of the dorm have access to it. When they graduate they pass it down to another witch, chosen by them.
Witches of this dorm get along best with their domovoy. The house spirits have not only taken after them when it came to personal grooming, eagerly decorating their beards to receive compliments from the girls, but also are very involved in their everyday going-ons. It is not unheard of for the domovoy to help out the girls with getting ready for the day or pick out their outfits for important events.
Bathing is a very important ritual for this dorm. It was said that the Lady of Beauty held cleanliness in high regard, and those that enraged her were often punished in regards to that. The girls make sure to look after their personal hygiene with utmost care.

Observation of allocated space
Sound
From my allocated spot there was very little noise in the city and the traffic on the street resembled ocean waves.
I could hear birds like tuis chirping in the trees.
Reminds me of peaceful white noise. Peaceful.
There is a constant rustling of leaves in the trees as the wind and birds brush through them. The birds also search the dry crispy leaves on the floor for bugs
Occasionally I would hear people talking to others on the phone and the sound of electric scooters whistling past at speed.
Sight
Warm afternoon light coming through the trees. However, the small bunches of leaves do not let a lot of light through so light only comes from gaps in the foliage. The tree is different shades of green and brown. Mostly dark colors with lighter brown on the ground. It has small pointy leaves hanging down off thin twiggy branches. on the base, the tree has Speckles of green mould and the ground is easy to turn over.
On the ground, there are uneven tufts of grass, twigs, leaves, and fallen debris from the tree. The ground is scratchy and spiky and the grass under the tree is unhealthy compared to the grass not under the tree's shade.
The bench is a curved seat with medium-thick planks of wood and there is a lot of bird poop on top of the bench.
To the left, there is a tilted disjointed gutter running down the right side of the concrete path. The concrete path has green mould on the right side from the moisture of the gutter. The pavement surrounding the bench is hard, bitty marron gravel that is uncomfortable and leaves an indent on bare skin.
The tree is placed near the other tree on the right side of the pavement meaning that the benches overhead link and create a large dense canopy overhead
Also noticed scooters, people talking on the phone, walking dogs, and a range of birds including parrots which I was not expecting.
Temperature
3-4 pm in shade on a sunny day I found the temperature perfect. There was a light breeze but yet the space felt sheltered because of the trees. the air was refreshing, soothing, and relaxing.
Smell
I could not smell any food or smoke or floral scents from the garden. I found this very pleasant as the air smelt fresh and clean.
Touch
The bark on the tree is harsh and peels off in large thin strips. The wood on the bench is tough and grainy as it had been there for a while and exposed to a lot of elements. The bench was also not very comfortable but the details on the end were very intricate and interesting. I thought that this would have been a good opportunity to include Maori design into an object as the park is on Maori land but seems very European.

broken Tumblr asks part ??: in which I think I figured out that adding a read more into the asks are what breaks them.
anonymous asked:
the team makes Buck cry. send tweet.
hi anon I really am sorry if you were hoping for some hurt / comfort bc uh. this is just the hurt. xoxox
also my love, thanks, and eternal devotion to @buckleydiazs for giving it a quick beta 💖
Buck was on cloud fucking nine.
For a year—an entire year—he had been stuck in the doctors office, twice a month, while they ran test after test after his… multiple accidents. Blood tests, lung tests, flexibility tests, he had been poked like a pincushion and stretched like a rubber band, he had been through physical therapy, occupational therapy, and just regular therapy (hell, he was still in regular therapy), and now finally, finally, he was finished.
“So, you don’t show any signs of abnormal clotting and your risk for a second pulmonary embolism is low. As far as your ankle goes, but you’ve regained full mobility, and as much as I wish I could take all the credit for that, I know you’ve been working your ass off in therapy. Congratulations, Mr. Buckley.”
He was cleared. Fully out of the woods. Clean bill of health.
Finally, finally, after a year of hell, he could put everything—his crushed leg, his bleeding lungs, his stupid lawsuit—behind him. Finally, he could breathe easy, easier than he had in a year, and the only thing he wanted to do in the entire world was share the news with his family.
Normally, Maddie would have been first, but he always felt bad about tying up a dispatcher when he called her at work. Her shift ended in an hour or so, though—like his normally would have, if he didn’t have his schedule switched during doctor days.
Well, if he can’t tell his sister, he can still tell his family.
“Hey, Chim!”
Buck is all smiles as locks his Jeep, his medical release in hand, jogging easily to catch up to Chim’s retreating backside. Buck grinned as Chim turned around, raising his brow. “Hey, do you and Hen have a second? I wanted to show you both my—“
“Oooh, sorry, no can do Buckeroo. Hen’s taking her MCAT’s in two days, I have every second of her free time booked solid with studying.”
Buck faltered a little bit as they walked, raising his brow. While he really was proud of Chim for doing a full 180 so quickly—going from feeling betrayed to supporting a friend was no easy feat, and Buck knew that as well as anyone, but he also knew that a full day of studying wouldn’t do any good.
“Come on, Chim, I’m sure she can take a break to—“
“Noooo, Buck.”
“Chim.”
“Buck, seriously. She’s been working too hard for this, and I’m not having you break up her flow. This is important to her, you get that right?”
Of course Buck got it, but…
“I’m not going to let anyone ruin this for her.”
….ruin it? He just wanted to share some good news.
He understood that Hen had to study, and that her upcoming MCATS were really important to her, but this was important to Buck; and for Chim to jump straight to that degree made his heart sink a little bit with each beat, his head traitorously whispering to him ‘what if Chim is right?’. Hen had been one of his biggest supporters as he got off of blood thinners, as he started back into his various therapies, and he had thought he returned the favor, helping her study in his free time whenever he could, and helping her take her mind off of things when she needed to as well—maybe his distractions were more harm than good, but he knew Hen well enough to know that if no one pulled her away from her work, she just wouldn’t eat, sleep, go home, any of it. Was it really that bad that Buck wanted a minute?
He felt his smile start to slip so he hitched it back up, nodding his head. “Yeah, sure, I… okay, just hit me up when you’re all done, I guess?” He said, hoping his voice sounded more confident than he felt. It must have worked, because Chim clapped both of his arms and turned away, leaving Buck standing there for a moment before he shook himself out of it.
It was fine. Hen wanted to study, that was important. Buck tried to pump himself back up as he took the stairs to the loft two at a time, reveling in the simple act of fully rolling his ankle. He tilted his head as he heard Bobby’s voice spill out of his office, turning on his heel to his next target. Besides, Bobby sounded frustrated—some good news would do him good, or so Buck thought.
“…no, I don’t—no, we can’t just take—wait, what? No, I will not hold!”
Buck almost laughed as he knocked on the Cap’s open door, smiling when Bobby waved him inside.
“Look, forgive me if I’m not entirely sympathetic, but when we’re down an engine, and you can’t tell us when repairs will be done—well then you’d better transfer me to someone who can!”
“Everything alright, Cap?” Buck couldn’t help but smile as Bobby strangled his phone, sighing in defeat when the plastic wouldn’t yield.
“You know, Marty was a crook in the end, but damn, he was a good mechanic. What’s up, Buck?”
Buck winced at the reminder of the nearly would-be heist, humming thoughtfully as he waved his full release forms. “Well, this shouldn’t take long. I got back from the doctors today, and—“
Bobby’s groan cut him off, hanging his head in his free hand. “No, Buck, no. I can’t have you sick right now, and nothing good ever follows ‘doctor’.”
Buck laughed, but Bobby kept going, the stress of the day and being down an engine clearly getting to him as he continued on. “And the last time I heard “doctor” from you, it was followed by lawsuit, which—yes, I’m still holding, hello?”
Lawsuit?
What the fuck?
Buck reeled back like he had been slapped, the smile frozen on his face even with Bobby’s clear dismissal. He was glad that he didn’t have to say anything else, at the very least, because his throat felt hot and tight and it was all he could do to stay steady as he pivoted on his heel, walking out of the office.
He hated the fact that that was the first thing Bobby brought up, but he hated even more how much that dark cloud was still lingering over his head. If Bobby would be so candid when Buck was barely two words in to saying something, who’s to say what choice words he had about Buck when he was gone?
The lawsuit was the worst part of his life, the biggest mistake he had made, and he couldn’t wrap his head around it being thrown in his face when he was ready to walk in and share what was the best news he had ever received. Is that… all he would have here, all he would have been able to look forward to?
He started back down the stairs, his legs acting independently of the rest of his body, a dull tingling spreading through his chest as he finally sat down. He didn’t know if there was a happy medium between cold and numb (‘shock’, his mind provided, ‘you’re in shock’), but whatever it was, he was deep into it.
God, he had honestly thought that was all behind him. How fucking stupid was he to think that he was going to be able to come back from a mistake that huge, even a year later?
“Buck?”
He could feel himself starting to panic—loathe as he was to admit it—but as per usual, Eddie was a step ahead of the game without even knowing it. Even now, just hearing Eddie take a few steps closer to him started to ease his heartbeat, and he swallowed a few times as he nodded, fighting off the headrush as he was able to breathe again.
“Hey, Buck, you good?”
“Hey, Eddie, uh…hey!” Buck stood up and wiped his hands on his pants, paperwork forgotten next to him as he tried to smile. If anything, he knew—he knew to his very core, he knew, he… he prayed Eddie would be able to share this little victory with him. “Eds, you have a second to talk?“
Buck almost swallowed his tongue as the alarm sounded through the station, his jaw clicking shut as footsteps started to come down the stairs.
“Hey, we’ll talk later, yeah?” Eddie called, already heading to his locker. It was all Buck could do to hold it together, nodding his head as he waved them off, letting out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding when the ladder pulled out of the station.
--
Eddie may have had a good start on his day, but Buck did not.
He had woken up, kissed Christopher goodbye as Carla brought him to school, and less than ten minutes later, he had a brown envelope in hand, with a curt “You’ve been served”.
Shannon’s will was being contested. The will that Eddie didn’t even know she had. By her father, who Eddie had only seen twice in several years of marriage.
The will was simple enough—a few grand left to Christopher’s college fund, a small pair of earrings to her sister, and that was it. There was nothing to contest, in Eddie’s mind, but contested it was.
He looked over the paperwork twice, and it made less sense the second time around—as much as he hated to admit it, the worst part of it all was knowing that Eddie was going to be alone at work again, because Buck had another day off scheduled in the books.
So yeah, he may have been a little grumpy as he threw a few weights around in the work room for the start of his shift.
As much as he didn’t want to admit it, Eddie was spiraling; he couldn’t understand how someone could be so bitter, so selfish, to try and stop a few thousand dollars from going into a college fund for their grandchild. His mood only soured as his shift went on, there were no distractions, no calls, nothing to help him pull his head out of his ass, and no one he could talk to. Chim had almost bitten his head off when he said hello to Hen that morning, Bobby was dealing with yet another broken down, tax funded nightmare, and Buck—
And Buck was here.
“Buck?”
Eddie did an honest to god double take as he saw Buck sitting on the bench, like he had been summoned from the depths of Eddie’s mind, even though he looked like he was in a state of shock.
“Hey, Buck, you good?”
He couldn’t lie, it made his heart skip a beat when Buck smiled at him—even if he could tell that Buck’s heart wasn’t in it.
Before he could say anything more, the alarm sounded through the house, and Eddie was about a step away from fully losing his mind. “Hey, we’ll talk later, yeah?” He said, trying to give a small smile as he started to double back to his locker.
The call, to put it mildly, had not gone well—any fire call where the main focus wasn’t the fire was bound to be troublesome. A ten year old had started a fire in a laundry room, which should have been simple enough, except it was the same laundry room that he and his brother had apparently been locked up on for months.
Suddenly what started out as a fire call turned into fire, medics, and police, and Eddie felt his hands start to shake as he worked with Hen to revive a ten year old boy. Barely older than Christopher. It wasn’t the first time he had seen abuse face to face, and he knew it wouldn’t be the last, but something about it was working him up more than usual. He was glad his shift was almost over—the only thing he wanted to do was go home, hug his kid, and sleep.
“—ooh, Mads, they’re back, gotta go. Hey, Eddie!”
He knew he was in deep when not even hearing Buck’s voice could brighten his mood—it was all he could do to hitch a half-hearted smile onto his face as he stepped off of the spare rig.
“Good call, right? Maddie said it sounded like everyone should pull through.”
Eddie just felt himself wind up tighter as he shook his head, rolling his jaw to force himself to keep it loose. “No, Buck. It was not a good call. It was a very bad call.” Bad didn’t even begin to cover it. Eddie could still feel his heart in his throat, feel a tiny body in his arms as Hen started compressions.
He was too wrapped in his own world to notice Buck falter, clearly thrown in the conversation. “Well, hey, if you’ve got a second—“
“Come on Buck, give it a break. I just want to get the fuck out of here as soon as I can.”
Pulling his boots off, he tossed them with perhaps a bit more force than needed into his locker, missing the way that Buck’s face shuttered. “You too, huh?”
“‘You too’? The hell is that supposed to mean?”
“Eddie, I just wanted to share some good news, and—“
“Well things aren’t just good or bad, Buck! Just because no one died does not make a good call, and just because things are bad right now doesn’t mean I have to be cheered up. I’m allowed to be pissed off. I’m allowed to have one fucking minute!” Eddie snapped, chucking his jacket against the hamper in the corner, jaw clenched so hard he would have been afraid of cracking a tooth if he was in his right state of mind.
“So please, tell me what is so god damned important that I can’t see my kid until you tell me.”
The moment the words left his lips, he knew it was a mistake. The only person that loved Chris as much as Eddie was Buck, and he knew that, saw that more clearly than ever as his white hot anger dulled into something more manageable. He swallowed as he turned around, and… fuck, Buck wasn’t even looking at him.
“…Buck, I—“
--
“Clean bill of health.”
Buck couldn’t bring himself to look up up as he tossed the stack of papers onto the bench, doing his absolute best to keep himself composed as he spoke, his jaw tight and brow furled.
He had been so proud of himself for avoiding a panic attack while they were on the call. He had never gotten them before this past year, but between the earthquake, tsunami, Maddie’s kidnapping, and bomb, he had become fast friends with the crushing weight. But he had done well—he kept himself above water, so to speak, and when he called Maddie he was proud to say that his voice was almost steady, and prouder still when she congratulated him for his job well done in therapy, demanding he come over and celebrate tonight.
Well, even if he couldn’t count on his family friends team, he could always count on Maddie. It was a small joy in the world, but right now, it felt like it was all he had.
“Officially back to 100% mobility in my crushed ankle, officially out of the woods for another clot. Did you know it would take me a year to be clear of another embolism, because I refused blood thinners? Well, I figured you might, since you’re been running calls without me, every other week for a year, while I sit in a hospital room.”
Buck finally brought himself up to meet his teammates eye as Eddie’s frustration started to give way to confusion, and that, that hurt more than anything else today. Had anyone even realized why his schedule changed every other week? Did anyone care? “And alright, like you said, it might not be that important to you all but—“
“Buck, you—“
“But it’s really fucking important to me! All I wanted to do was share the good news with the people who are supposed to be family, my team, and instead all I got was blown off, snapped at—Eddie, I mentioned the word doctor in front of Bobby and his first concern was if he had another lawsuit on his hands.”
Buck was mildly aware that he was shaking—he had never really handled stress like this well—but the bigger concern was the tightening in his throat, that sinking pressure he felt right beneath his lungs. He could handle a lot of things, but that didn’t mean he could handle crying in front of Eddie quite yet.
“It’s been a year, Eddie, and I thought things were getting better, so what gives? What did I do, what have I done to deserve being treated like this? I’m serious, please, tell me, so I can fix it!”
Buck’s voice was reaching a fevered pitch as he gestured around the locker room, feeling himself splinter as he begged, literally begged, to know what he had done—why his work had meant nothing. Would he be mortified later? Probably, but everyone had a breaking point, and Buck was realizing (belatedly) that he was past his.
“All I wanted to do today was share a victory with my team, at least share it with you, you’re supposed to be my best friend, and I—I don’t get why—“
If Buck could clearly see Eddie’s face, he might have laughed at the pale, slack jawed, panicked expression before him. As it was, though, his eyes were starting to burn, and even as he reached to rub them, his body finally gave up, tears rolling down his cheeks.
“Why is everyone being so fucking mean?”
Buck didn’t bother with another platitude as he pushed past Eddie, rubbing tear tracks off of his cheeks. He felt his face heat up as he stormed out of the firehouse, fumbling for his keys, and heaven help any member of the 118 who stood in his way.
--
Buck was crying.
The team had made Buck cry.
Fuck, Eddie had made Buck cry.
He just stood in the locker room as the sound of Buck’s Jeep faded into the distance, feeling his heartbeat throughout his entire body. All Buck wanted to do was share some positivity with the team, and Eddie had… eviscerated him. He bent down to pick up some of the papers Buck had left behind, his heart falling even further (as if that was possible) as he read over the paperwork.
Fuck.
“Hey, Eddie, is Buck in here? Chim said he wanted to talk to—woah, what’s wrong?”
The sweat on Eddie’s skin had cooled (hell, how long had he been standing there?) and guilt sunk heavier into his stomach as Hen walked into the locker room, with Chim trailing behind her. Eddie’s eyes were still glued to the release in his hand, barely noticing as Chim spoke, staring down at his phone.
“Uhhh… why is Maddie telling me to camp out with one of you tonight?” he asked the room as a whole, sharing a confused glance with Hen before they both locked eyes on Eddie, who… well, who probably looked as bad as he felt.
Which, considering Eddie felt like he was about to cry himself, was saying a lot.
“We fucked up. I fucked up. I think—I think we broke Buck.”
And he had no idea how to fix it.

Disco 3.08: The Sanctuary
This week IRL was a real mixed bag for me: a lot of messy and barely-manageable anxiety about my health, my day job, and uhhhh *gestures outside*—but also I’ve recently fallen in love (from a responsible social distance)—so it’s been equal parts re-writing professional emails to edit the panic attack out of my tone and gazing dreamily at Discord notifications with cartoon hearts in my eyes. It feels like my life is going to hell in the cutest, coziest handbasket—which is to say that Michael Burnham could not possibly feel like a more relatable character to me right now.
I continue to have issues with the writing at a strange medium-level—somewhere between micro, where the dialogue and characters are really good, and macro, where I’m digging the pace of the overall season, it almost feels like something went wrong in the assembly process, and the script ended up a little bit less than the sum of its perfectly good parts. Again.
But that’s such vague criticism as to be nearly meaningless, and it’s hardly the most interesting level to spend time on anyway. If I zoom out, the parallel season arcs of “getting used to the future” and “the mystery of the Burn” are hanging together wayyyyy better than the Red Angel saga did last year.
And if I zoom in? This episode was funny as shit, wtf.
The discourse re: Tilly these past couple of weeks has been bullshit, and I have a whole angry thing to say about it—but honestly, if you can’t appreciate Doug Jones and Mary Wiseman as a comedic duo, I’m not really mad: mostly I pity the lack of joy in your heart.
Everyone on this show is so funny. Doug’s prissy little delivery absolutely slaughters me (“Execute!...?”), Mary will make a face sometimes that has me screaming laughter into my hands, and I’ve gone on before—and will again—about Sonequa Martin-Green’s egregiously underrated comedy chops.
They were obviously casting for folks w/ jokes in the new season too: David Ajada is no slouch in the dry-delivery or the goofy-face department; his energy and chemistry with Sonequa are as suited to comedy as they are to romance (i.e. extremely 🥵). Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz we knew about, but Blu del Barrio—a certified tiny baby!!!—holds their own and lands every smartass whiz-kid one-liner just on the right side of “too precious to stand.” (I almost always at least chuckle, and never roll my eyes, and for a “teen genius” character that’s literally as good as it gets.) And living legend Michelle Yeoh is clearly having the time of her life, omfg.
Disco’s not funny-funny like Lower Decks, but they do funny-on-purpose better than any live-action Trek except maybe DS9. They have such a deep comedic bench they don’t even need Tig Notaro—they have her on just to flex, I presume.
(I don’t know if I’m predicting, per se, that Strange New Worlds—with Rebecca Romjin’s deadpan, Anson Mount’s twinkly eyes, and Ethan Peck’s twinkly-eyed deadpan—is going to have a tone somewhere between Disco S3 and LwD—but I mean... it kinda has to, right? And you know they kept the number for Rainn Wilson’s agent.)
***
At the start of this episode, I was “sure, why the fuck not” about First Officer Tilly; by the end, I was completely on board. And to everyone who’s still wringing their hands about “the real military” this (always from people who have no idea how actual militaries work, lol) and “Lt. Nilsson” that (she... already has a job on the ship? And no character traits besides “stoic” and “furrows brow”? Oh, I get it—she’s skinny and blonde)—y’all are kind of embarrassing me.
“Rank” and “position” (and “seniority” and “day-to-day duties”...) aren’t the same thing, in Star Trek or any IRL military. Yes, the permanent first officers of normal-duty Starfleet ships we’ve seen have usually been command-division officers with the rank of Commander—but not always. Star Trek: Discovery-A, if you will, is a unique show about a unique ship in a unique situation: “B-b-but that’s not how they do it on Star Trek!!!” isn’t a legitimate criticism, not of this—it’s the mournful cry of an entitled pissbaby who isn’t having their hand held all the way to the fireworks factory.
Here’s what an argument supported by the text of the first 37 episodes of Star Trek: Discovery actually looks like: Sylvia Tilly is nervous and lacks self-confidence, but once she gets over herself—which she can do pretty much instantly in a crisis, even when hilariously intoxicated—she is competent as hell. In lower-stakes situations, without intense pressure to focus her attention, she sometimes gets sidetracked by her own insecurities; at her best, she channels that anxious energy into ambition, drive, and being scrupulously organized.
The only person Tilly doesn’t always get along with is Stamets, and even Stamets’s husband thinks he’s an asshole. Since Season 1, we’ve seen her easily socializing with the rest of the crew, who seem to universally adore her. And she’s also happy to leave her social comfort zone at a moment’s notice: she aligned herself with Ash Tyler (miss you, Shazad!) when no one else would, and she instantly befriended Po even when Po was in Weird Feral Alien Princess mode and Tilly had salad in her hair. She doesn’t like confrontation, but she’s brave enough to initiate it anyway if she needs to, and she’s compassionate with other people’s feelings while still setting firm boundaries. (Her graceful dodge of Rhys’s tipsy kiss at the party in 1.07 lives rent-free in my head to this day.)
No, Tilly didn’t finish the Command Training Program—but she started it, which is almost certainly more command training than any of the lieutenants whose names we know, all of whom are Ops or Science personnel with, presumably, specialized non-command training of their own. The same could be assumed for any unseen ranking officers on this science ship with an entirely volunteer skeleton crew.
And seriously, about Nilsson: she’s my #3 background bae after Octopus Head and the lady on Pike’s Enterprise with the spiky red face, but her job is Spore Drive Ops, not personnel. If she’s running after Saru with a holo-clipboard, who’s going to look serious and push holo-buttons when there’s a Black Alert? *drops holo-mic* Drumhead!
***
The stuff on Kwejian, though. Ooof. Ol’ Two-Takes Frakes directed this one, and between the kinetic energy he always adds to the camera and the scintillating performances he evokes, things stayed moving so briskly I almost didn’t notice Book’s entire “homeworld” was a rental house outside Vancouver, a couple acres of adjacent woods, and like six or seven people.
It’s a hot mess in retrospect, but in the moment it gave us the intensity of Book and Kyheem trying to hurt each other’s feelings by poking at 15-year-old wounds, which as a sibling with complicated sibling relationships I found both funny and devastating—not to mention Frakes directing “shaky bridge” explosion falls at an obvious intensity of “10” on an outdoor location shoot. It falls apart at the slightest scrutiny, but I can’t lie, on first viewing I was totally along for the ride.
***
I’m dying to see where this Georgiou thing goes. It doesn’t feel like a stretch to assume she got Cronenberg’d a couple weeks ago, probably to get her under the thumb of this century’s Section 31, and that her arc is going to take Michelle Yeoh off this show in a way that sets up the S31 show. But also, I don’t care so much whether I’m right, I just want to watch Michelle Yeoh—and Sonequa Martin-Green, and also David Cronenberg tbh, and bring back Shazad Latif while you’re at it—get wherever they’re going.
It’s also a fun and interesting direction to take the comically-evil comic relief character and show that her performative moustache-twirling is partly habit and partly a transparent emotional defence against very real fear and vulnerability. We’re all products of our circumstances, and a radical enough change in circumstances can afford almost anyone at least the opportunity to change. I can’t say Emperor Georgiou would have been my first choice of protagonist for that storyline, but it’s not like Michelle Yeoh’s not going to fuckin’ crush it.
***
Miscellany:
So the Burn had an origin point, and now that point is broadcasting a signal that’s somehow both a haunting melody that everyone seems to know—but no one can remember learning—and a Federation distress signal. What the fuck, y’all. I have full-body goosebumps just typing that.
Saru workshopping his own captainly catchphrase with the aid of Tilly’s extreme sincerity and organizational skills is probably the funniest thing that’s ever happened on this show—followed closely by the uncomfortably lingering reaction shots when he’s trying them out on the bridge 😂 (And omg please give Rhys and Bryce the dumbass buddy-comedy C-plots they deserve next season, I beg you.)
I would do a little “prop watch” entry on those Kwejianian(?) bolt-throwing rifles, but I’d have to stop drooling over them first. “Curvy polished hardwood” seems to be New Trek shorthand for “extra sleek and futuristic” (cf. the bridge of the USS Titan in the LwD finale), and I have to say: I am fully into it.
Restating my prediction that we will not see Detmer and Owosekun get together this season, because we will find out that they’ve been together for ages. Everyone knew—Pike even knew!—it just never came up in front of the audience before. That would be one of the cutest ways to do it imho, and one of the funniest too, especially as a meta-joke about how much character development didn’t happen in the first two seasons. (That said, if we get to see their first kiss, I will be screaming with incoherent joy for days, so this is a real win-win for me.)
Speaking of cute: IRL spouses Mary Wiseman and Noah Averbach-Katz, both Julliard-trained actors (it’s where they met!), can’t quite hide their chemistry in the scenes between Tilly and Ryn. I loved seeing Tilly be a hardass when Ryn was rude to the captain, but that sparkle in her eyes didn’t quite match the context <3
And speaking of people who are VERY OBVIOUSLY IN LOVE: that last scene with Book and Michael, and his nervous little “yeah, I said it” eyebrow lift, and her irrepressible giggle as she’s walking away... it was almost too much. Especially right after the queer-family scenes with Stamets and Culber and Adira. My poor heart is going through a lot lately, and I guess I’m just glad Season 3’s emotional intensity is melting it with soft sweet scenes like that instead of kicking it down repeated flights of stairs like Season 1.
***
Next week: everyone stops caring about the Burn and starts trying to solve an even more important mystery—why is this (holographic) dude wearing an early-2360s uniform with an early-2370s combadge?

Hearth Fires 19: Home Sweet Home
Pairing: Remi Denier x OFC
Summary: Lorel Maddox just wants to live as a human, run her bakery in peace, and forget. Unfortunately, the alpha of the local leopard pack has very different ideas.
Remi Denier doesn’t know what to make of the female Changeling who wants nothing to do with him or the RainFire pack. He does know that he has a driving need to protect her. Even if it’s from herself.
While they’re embroiled in a battle of wills, there’s a war brewing on the horizon. The outside threat could not only destroy everything they hold dear, but tear apart the fragile new bonds of the Trinity Accord, plunging the world into bloodshed to rival the Territorial Wars of centuries past.
Word count: 3330
CW: childhood neglect/abuse, past diet control, food insecurity, body issues

Beta read by the precious @pandabearer
Lorel stared at the tree trunk in annoyance. She didn’t know how to do a semishift on purpose, only when she lost her temper. There had to be a ladder or something for human packmates, but she’d be damned if she’d ask Remi for help. While ocelots could climb, they didn’t spend nearly as much time in the trees as leopards and she’d never had much opportunity to, living in cities most of her adult life.
Bending to remove her canvas sneakers- the worn, flat soles were unsuitable for climbing- she prayed no one else was watching her about to make a fool of herself.
“Problem?” the jerk called from above. “I could get Jojo, she’d be more than happy to teach you how to climb.”
She flung the shoes at the bastard’s head. One he caught, the other spun off-kilter and clattered to a stop behind him.
“Temper, temper,” he chided, shaking the shoe at her like he was wagging a finger.
Sharp points burst from her fingers. Dashing the short distance to the tree, she jumped and cleared nearly twice her height. Sinking her claws into the wood, she braced her bare feet against the trunk, burrowing her toes into the ridges of bark, and began to climb.
Her progress was agonizingly slow compared to Remi’s lithe speed. By the time she dragged herself through the trapdoor, sweat popped on her brow and prickled under her arms. She’d push him off the deck if he so much as smirked; the smug jerk would probably have no problems landing on his feet, but there was no sign of him. If he knew what was good for him, he would be inside the house.
Neither half of her particularly liked the fact that underneath the platform, braces and tree branches were pretty much all that kept the structure from plummeting to the ground. Like most sensible creatures, not that hers could ever be ascribed that particular quality, ocelots preferred to den on the ground.
Dusting off her hands, she straightened her sweater and entered the open front door. His aerie was unlike anything she’d ever seen; she knew it was his because his scent was everywhere, the deliciously masculine notes wrapped around her like clinging vines.
Where his office was sleek and modern, his home was what her grandparents would have dubbed “primitive.” The first floor was almost entirely open, the main trunk thrust through the centre and was encircled with a bench. Windows formed nearly every wall, filling it with light and giving the sense that the whole space was open to the air. There were exposed beams everywhere, winding here and there, they look almost like parts of the tree grew throughout the walls, but they were trimmed, lightly sanded, and sealed. The curving staircase was built from pieces that looked like they’d been scavenged from the forest floor and treated similarly.
The upper story was offset so the living area was wide open to the rafters high above. A net of sturdy rope, almost like a hammock or trampoline, scattered with pillows was set into part of the second floor. The kitchenette off to the right was woefully small: sink, cooler, cooking unit, and a couple of cupboards. The oven could perhaps manage a medium sized pizza but wasn’t tall enough for a standard loaf of bread.
“Come on up,” he called from above.
Although it galled to do what he said, which made no sense in this particular instance, she took the stairs to the left. She wasn’t dominant, even she knew that, but for some unknown reason, it was imperative she stand up to him. The refusal to roll over and bare her throat was bone-deep.
“How long do you plan on keeping me here?” she asked coolly, following him into the farthest of the two rooms on this level. “Am I a prisoner?”
If she was, at least the cell was comfortable; and she was not just a tiny bit disappointed that she wasn’t staying in his room, his bed, with him, because that would be ludicrous. This room probably served as an office most of the time, judging by the desk opposite the door. Her duffel sat on a cozy-looking window seat to the right, and a door on the left stood ajar just enough to reveal a sink. Cupboards and shelves covered much of the available space and looked to have been recently cleared. The bed wasn’t a fold-up or inflatable affair, it was an entire alcove set into a dormer window with a few shelves and accessible by a ladder.
“You still have thirteen days to come to your senses. While you’re here, you’re mine to protect.” Her stomach fluttered at the possessive declaration, and she tried really hard not to think about being alone with him in a bedroom; that stupid shaggy hair of his made a person imagine him lying sleepy and sated, tumbled in sheets.
“And after that?”
“That part’s up to you.” Hands in his pockets, he leaned against the doorjamb, one ankle crossed over the other. Somewhere along the way here he’d slipped back into the languid drawl that dripped with Spanish moss and glowed like fireflies over the bayou under a velvet sky. The richness of it wrapped around her like a ribbon of warmth.
“You know, I find it hard to believe someone like you has to resort to extortion and kidnapping to get women into his bed.” Some part of her knew she was speaking from a place of fear, but she couldn’t stop herself. If she did, she’d end up making a fool out of herself by trying to kiss him. He was tall enough she’d have to climb him to make the attempt.
“I don’t have to.” There was a wicked gleam in his eye. “I don’t always make it to the bed when the cushions are right there, or the table, the counter… Hell, I’ve been known to use a tree or two.”
“Please tell me you sanitized those surfaces.” Her nose wrinkled in distaste and her stomach twisted with something else.
“Why’re you afraid of joining a pack?” And all temptation died a quick death with that seemingly innocuous non sequitur.
“Changelings are too violent. RedRock. You would kill me simply for living in an area you wanted. I don’t want to live like that.” She occupied herself with hanging up the dresses she’d simply grabbed and folded in half before shoving them into the duffel.
“We didn’t take you in just for you to throw your life away. They’ll use you up and discard you like trash when they’re done with you. If you join one of those ‘packs,’ don’t bother coming back here. We didn’t raise you to be an animal and the beasts of the earth lack souls and are unworthy of redemption.” Her grandfather’s words still haunted her after all these years.
“Are you afraid of your own kind? Or are you afraid of yourself? If violence is inevitable for changelings, how many humans have you hurt?”
Recoiling as if struck, she felt the blood drain from her face. Did he know? What punishment did changeling law dictate for hurting humans, even by accident? At the very least, he would be disgusted by her if he knew. The very thought was a kick to the gut.
“And how many of your own have you hurt?” she retorted over her shoulder.
“If you don’t start trusting me not to hurt you, you might hurt my feelings.”
“Somehow, I think you’ll survive,” she snorted and continued fussing with unpacking to avoid looking at him.
“You won’t believe anything I say, so I’ll tell you to ask the pack how tyrannical I am. Remember, we aren’t human, and we aren’t animals: we’re both. Pretending to be something you’re not is only hurting you.” Hot breath ghosted over the sensitive curve of her ear and she stiffened, waiting to see what he would do next, excited and afraid at the same time. How had he moved so silently and quickly?
“I’m gon’ make us some lunch.” Just as stealthily as he’d snuck up on her, he retreated.
Heart pounding, Lorel quickly freshened up in the bathroom. There was another door that could only lead to his bedroom, which she locked. She took the time to apply bronze eyeshadow, mascara and light pink lipstick, not that she was making an effort for him. It was war paint, and she was in unfamiliar territory, that’s all it was.
When she emerged and smelled food, her stomach quite angrily reminded her that all she’d eaten that day was tea and toast. She used the handrail on the stairs to avoid tripping over her feet made clumsy from low blood sugar.
“If we’re going to do this, you’d better start treating me as an equal,” she said, finding him in the kitchenette. “Just because you’re a big bad alpha, don’t think that I’ll just follow your orders.”
“Just because you’re a submissive female, don’t think that you get to act like a spoiled brat,” he replied without looking up.
“Screw you.”
“Oh, I’ll be the one doing the screwing, baby. Now shut up and eat.” With a wink, he handed her a bowl of chilli and cornbread. Moving unconsciously, her hand shook as she went to take it, the thumb twitching.
“Shit!” she fumbled for it with her other hand, only to completely knock it to the floor, beans flying everywhere and the bowl breaking into several pieces.
Against her conscious will, figures filled her mind to calculate the total of the cost of the wasted food. That total would have meant carefully scrounging change from couch cushions, the laundry, anywhere she could find a coin that might go unmissed, or when she had the rare opportunity to steal from the offering plate. Then she had to hide the money until she could buy some food to smuggle home to her hidey holes.
“What’s wrong, catin?”
“Hafta hunt,” she mumbled, swallowing hard. Did she have enough food stashed away? She couldn’t remember. That would mean sneaking out in the middle of the night and punishments if caught, but if she didn’t, then she didn’t know when she’d next have a full belly.
“Why, cher?”
Shaking her head, she wrapped her arms around her knees and rocked back and forth. A slightly rough hand touched her cheek and she flinched instinctively before realizing there was no pain. She leaned into the palm; it was warm and safe.
“Do you need to hunt for food?”
A jerky nod. There was nothing of the woman in her eyes, her wildness suffocated in the crushing grip of panic.
Looking around, he grabbed the first piece of food he could find: an orange. He shuffled closer so he could sit with her hip to hip and shoulder to, well, under his shoulder. She was so small it was easy to shield her with his bigger body, she was as protected as she could be in the corner.
“I used to cache kills for submissives as a kid,” he spoke as he peeled the fruit in the hope that the sound of his voice would help bring her back. The scent of citrus burst in the air as he peeled, and her rocking slowed. The memory wasn’t one he cared to revisit, and he never spoke of it, but he needed her to know she was not alone. He understood the kind of demons that came with childhood hunger.
“The alpha didn’t have a head for business, refused to delegate, and the pack was poor. He decided that the dominants had first rights to food, being more important in his sickened mind.” Despite his youth, he’d kept himself and several others fed. It hadn’t been easy, but he’d had the territory of a pack to hunt. He had no idea what there was to hunt in farm country that could sustain a large cat changeling, especially one who was kept caged. Claws pricked at his fingertips.
“Me, I try and do the opposite of that asshole.” Her eyes skated away from the orange slice he offered her. There was a slight flicker of recognition, but she made no move to take it. Undeterred, he pinched the plump flesh until the juice coated his thumb and forefinger, then turned to bring his dripping finger to her mouth and painted her bottom lip in the juice. A pink tongue flicked out and she blinked slowly.
“’Sides, I like feeding belles t-minous.” Another coat and before he could withdraw, she sucked his finger into the hot, wet cavern of her mouth. His whole body went rock-hard in a single pulse as she laved the digit, every tiny movement going straight to his cock, and he imagined that talented mouth on other parts of him. He hadn’t had such an inappropriately timed erection since he was a juvenile. Gritting his teeth, he tried to think of the least sexy things he could imagine.
Lorelei shook her head as if coming out of a daydream, trying to hide her shame, sadness, and old pain behind the fall of her hair. The destruction of her bakery and being browbeaten into leaving her home had eroded the independence she used as a shield. Less than an hour in his aerie, and he’d already traumatized his mate. He wanted to kick his own ass. Ignorance was no excuse, not when he’d all but dragged her here like a caveman.
Heart aching, he opened his arm, silently offering another physical need she’d been denied. Tentatively, she leaned into him, still hunched into herself. Picking her up, he settled into the corner with her settled between the vee of his drawn-up legs and she curled up against his chest, face turned away from him.
She accepted the next wedge but didn’t eat it, instead rolling it over and over between her hands. “Some people think I’m fat because I must gorge myself on snacks and desserts.”
“Some people being your grandparents?” He barely managed to keep the snarl out of his words.
A tiny nod. “I’ve never… I’ve always been too heavy.”
He couldn’t stop the disdainful snort at that, but didn’t interrupt, not when she was finally opening up to him. And telling her that he wanted to rip off her clothing, drag her to his bed, lick and explore every inch of her over the course of days wasn’t what she needed to hear just now.
“If the scale didn’t show the right number, I was only allowed vegetables. No carbs, meat, dairy, fruit… even carrots were ‘bad’ because of the sugar content.”
“Changelings weigh more than humans.” That wasn’t what he wanted to say, he wanted to know when the abuse had started, but once he knew there would be no controlling the bloodthirsty beast that lived under his skin. It went berserk at the thought of harm to a child, especially at the hands of those who were supposed to love and protect. They hadn’t had trouble keeping her fed; they chose to do it to try and force her to appear more human.
“Logic doesn’t have much to do with any of this,” she shook her head slightly, subconsciously rubbing her scent onto him. “The saddest part? I know now that early childhood malnutrition increases the chances of obesity later in life.” A rueful pat to her stomach.
The need to rend her grandparents limb from limb gripped him. Instead, he fed her a slice since she still hadn’t eaten the wedge she continued to play with, now looking a bit worse for wear. He purred silently when she ate the rest of the orange as he fed it to her piece by piece.
“Come here.” Picking her up, he stood. She stiffened and fisted one hand in his t-shirt, no doubt shocked at the casual display of an alpha’s strength. Quickly straightening her legs, it took her a moment to find her balance on her feet again. He opened every cupboard and the cooler until the entire contents of the small kitchen were on display. “All of this is yours. No matter what you eat, I won’t get mad. I know what it’s like to be hungry.”
Then he showed her the commscreen and the app he used to order groceries. Normally he ate with the pack in the dining hall and kept things on hand for when he didn’t feel like heading over for just a snack or on the rare occasions he wanted to eat alone. And he had his own memories of scarcity. He also made sure to tell her that she could always find food in the dining hall, even outside of the regular mealtimes. The description of the large, commercial-grade kitchen returned some of the light to her eyes in professional interest.
Most nights, he tried to eat dinner with the pack. If he couldn’t make it, they made up a tray for him unless he told them otherwise. Even then his packmates made sure his cooler was always stocked with something that could be easily reheated. If he didn’t make an appearance for a day or two, then they usually sent a maternal or submissive to coax him into joining the others in the dining hall.
“You can order anything you want. Although if you order a case of lobster and filet mignon, you should let Avery know so he can clear room in one of his coolers.”
A slightly wet laugh.
“I’m sorry, I know I’m being ridiculous.” She started to step away from him, retreating to rebuild her shields, but he wasn’t about to allow any distance between them, not when he’d had a glimpse of how bruised her heart was.
The leopard wanted him to comfort her with his body, seizing him with the sudden, violent craving to drive into her hot, welcoming body. He wanted to drive his cock so deep into her that they both forgot their demons for a time.
Snarling, the leopard fought the man’s leash in its compulsion to touch, to take, to possess. It needed to brand its mate. Patience, he cautioned the animal; he needed to stalk, not launch a full-frontal assault, not when he had her in his aerie at last.
“No, it’s not.” He stroked the back of his knuckles down her cheek.
“You do understand.” A look of gentle wonder before she wrapped her arms around his waist and squeezed him in a tight hug, both of them soaking in the shared comfort. They held each other until the touch hunger subsided. It did something to him that even though she’d just relived a childhood nightmare, she wanted to comfort him. Pieces of him broke, reformed into something new, and he didn’t know how to handle the strange feelings it awoke in him.
When they stepped apart, they cleaned up the mess together, moving easily around each other like they’d done it before. A message came in before he could dish up another bowl.
“Here,” he set the other bowl at the table. “I have to go.”
“You’re leaving?” She stared up at him. The stark vulnerability and the expectation of rejection painted on her face nearly brought him to his knees.
“Something’s come up, cher, and I probably won’t be back until late tonight.” It was as much of the truth as he could say without scaring her unnecessarily.
“Be safe.” A quick squeeze of his hand.
It was a kick to his heart, that concern for him. If he stayed, he would mount her in the most primitive of ways, and she was nowhere near ready for that. She deserved to have him at her leisure when he had the time to pleasure her into a stupor. He would not become the monster by abusing those who trusted him.

I made a list of all of my DIY recipes under the cut, excluding non-golden tools and garbage recipes (since those are automatically obtained when you get the materials). I also didn’t type out all of the egg outfits. I will update this as I obtain more recipes.
I was going to just keep this as a reference for when I open my island to say “go here to see what I can craft,” but you know what? I’ll go ahead and put this in the tags. If you need something crafted, feel free to message me. Must provide all materials, though, because I do not want to figure out pricing for all of this.

a headcanon about duri & his home.
word count: 1,535. about: let me say, i stole this from demi. thank you demi <3. basically, i kind of wanted to explain duri’s house and stuff, mainly what it looks like on the inside because i definitely feel like it’s different than what i imagined. the exterior and backyard, however, remain the same from my picture imagines.
purchasing an actual home in the city was never something that duri had planned, to say the least. he thought that he was going to continue to live in an apartment in the city, like most people, but that wasn’t something that ended up occurring. his parents’ dream home had come onto the market last year and it seemed, his world had changed for the better. however, he got lucky that his family had really pitched in to make this dream a reality. his aunt, who looks over duri’s finances, told him that he was able to do it, while her husband gifted him some money, as well as a few other family members. however, it was really his grandparents that had made it a reality. they would be at peace, knowing that duri’s rather happy in the dream home that their children had always wanted. the deal had gone through and thus, duri began living in his new home in december of last year.
when you come upon the exterior of the home, the house seems to be a lot older in a way. it’s clearly a two floor home, build of brick, with lots of windows to bring in a lot of natural sunlight - which, is something that duri enjoys. the house, of course, is gated with a black gate, in the style that you often see in the city with houses of the style. in front, as you go down, there’s also a garage. but, duri doesn’t use it himself, considering he doesn’t drive. but, it also makes it easier for his manager to get in and off, not to mention when his boyfriend has a car. the front yard isn’t that big, it’s a bit small. but, he doesn’t need much of a yard, anyways. it’s nicely up kept, with seasonal flowers, and is often decorated for the season they’re currently in. the backyard is a bit bigger, definitely somewhat medium size, if you could say that. it’s the perfect space to have a picnic, as well as a perfect place for dogs to run around. not to mention, it’s rather nice at night, considering there’s string lights hung up around the backyard to light it up at night. or, if you want to look at the stars, you can simply turn the lights off, it’s really the perfect spot to star gaze.
first thing to note for the interior of the house is the fact that it very much looks lived in. but, it’s very clean, as duri is quite big on cleaning. but, it almost looks like your average family home - even though it’s only home to two humans and five dogs. of course, it’s probably obvious that dogs live there, as on a normal day, you’ll find dog toys scattered around the place. however, that’s really the only “mess” that can be found in the home, otherwise it’s clean, and just lived in.
once you walk in, you’re of course welcomed in by a foyer. two, large, built ins are within, where shoes are placed inside neatly and organized. this is something that never becomes a mess and is always neat, something duri prides on almost. on the wall, features the call box with the camera screen, and the security system. nonetheless, as you move more into the home, you get met with an area that’s just a staircase leading to the second floor. this area is decorated nicely with a bench, as well as photos, and a table where duri will often leave keys and stuff of the like. there’s a few colors as well, just to tie everything in. off this space, is where the home office is situated. it’s like your normal office; except maybe a little different. along one wall is tall, built in bookcases that duri organized with his rather large book collection. this is also where his music notebooks hide as well. on the other side of the room is a long, and large l-shaped desk with computers, that could easily be used to create music, it’s true purpose, really. of course, duri also has his musical instruments stored within the home office. the most prominent feature in this office as well, as one of the corners have a very, large, and comfortable hammock that could truly fit a lot of people. as you make your way more in, you’re welcomed to an open concept of the likes with the living room, dining room, and kitchen.
it’s another place where the colors flow, but it’s not like it’s high end in anyway. sure, the kitchen looks clean and crisp with its white cabinets and the refrigerator that he won on masterchef korea celebrity from getting first place. nonetheless, there’s still color that lingers within the flowing of the three room. a large, blue velvet couch that feels like a cloud is within the living room, accented by light gray chairs to balance the space. a fireplace sits upon the wall with a television just above the mantel, perfect for movie viewing. of course, a saggy carpet is on the floor. the walls and such decorated with black and white photos, giving a nice contrast the colors that the room is decorated with. the dining room, which is just off the kitchen, features a large, wooden table that’s in a light wood, going nicely with the wood floors that are throughout the home. of course, there’s suitable dining room chairs that go with everything else. the middle of the table often holds a vase of sunflowers and roses - his parents favorite flowers and favorite flower combination, something that’s become his own favorite. the kitchen, as explained, is your normal kitchen. it’s easy to have multiple people in the kitchen, but cabinets on two walls, and an island in the middle with chairs, as well as four lights hanging over the island itself. it’s a perfect space to watch the home chef at work.
leading upstairs, the second floor is the same size as the downstairs area. upon the second floor, you can find three bedrooms and two bathrooms. it’s more so of a hallway, but it’s still decorated nicely to make it feel homey and welcoming. both of the guest bedrooms mirror each other in style, with whites and tans, and browns being used for the beds, and a few storage pieces to make them look like lived in bedrooms. of course, however, these rooms are decorated with duri’s plushie collection. to be quite fair, it’s pretty big, so he needs a lot of space. but, it tends to get smaller, as he’ll donate some of them, as well as his niece and nephew getting to take some, every time they visit. both of them have decent closets, but there’s not much inside of the closets storage wise. moving on from that is the guest bathroom, which is like a fancy bathroom. seemingly pretty in white, with a large vanity, and a nice tub with a shower attachment, it’s your normal bathroom, really. going from that, you make your way to the master suite.
the master suite is pretty big, even though it doesn’t really need to be, considering the fact that not a lot of time is spent in there. but, nonetheless, that’s how it had turned out to be. the most prominent part of this room is the large, platform bed that’s there; the perfect size for two humans and an army of dogs. it’s like a cloud, with its large, comfortable comforter with a perfect, warm lining of sorts in a muted lavender. the rest of the room flows rather nicely with the muted lavender comforter and the white, flannel sheets. it’s a calming room of sorts - even if duri doesn’t fully sleep, but it’s fine. it’s your typical bedroom, filled with your essential bedroom things. but, of course, one of the best things, is the large walk in closet. sat in the middle is a carpet and a bench to sit upon, with a large up and down mirror to look upon your outfit. the rest of the closet as various doors to hide neatly, organized clothing, as well as a few other places for clothing to go. it’s another rather neat room that duri organized to look really nice, even when you open up the doors. leaving that room, you come upon the large, ensuite bathroom. it contains a rather large shower - to be quite honest, you can hold a party in there. the shower heads on the wall and the rainfall shower head is to die for. there’s a separate bathtub, but it doesn’t get much use; unless you’ve got sore muscles from dancing, practice, or even working out. of course, there’s a large vanity for two to be able to get ready. it’s black and white, the perfect form of bathroom marble.
to say the least, duri is really proud of his purchase and living inside the home; being able to pay for it as well, feels really nice as time goes on. duri even feels a lot closer to his parents, which comforts him and makes him feel at peace.
