Facing the serene Mediterranean Sea, 17-year-old Karma Khaial stands at the water's edge and senses freedom. But in Gaza, the sea is yet another wall restricting the lives and dreams of its inhabitants. Premiering at Sundance in 2019, Gaza was selected as the Irish entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.

What is the first song you remember falling in love with? What do you remember about the time you first heard it?
Oh geez I gotta go way back. I could say one of my parents old Christian rock songs, some of which I still enjoy today unironically, but I think one of the first songs that I fell in love with on my own and was me really breaking out into my own musical journey was probably “Mediterranean Sundance/Rio Ancho” by Paco De Lucia, Al Di Meola, and John McLaughlin, aka The Guitar Trio.
I was just beginning guitar lessons and expressed to my teacher an interest in jazz and flamenco/world music styles, and he suggested the trio and their work. I quickly fell in love and eventually performed a heavily abridged version for my recital that year (cause no way was 15-year-old me gonna slog through 9-11 minutes of pure musical greatness after a few months).
I’ll try to link the song below:

★★★★☆ Unbeknownst to himself, Elio is immediately captivated by the charming 24-year-old American. Oliver arrives to spend the summer working on his thesis about Heraclitus and soaking up the Mediterranean sun. Their initial awkwardness soon gives way to a passionate connection that deepens as they navigate the complexities of their burgeoning feelings. Their summer romance leaves an indelible mark on both of their lives. The uncertainty of reciprocation, the fear of vulnerability, the anguish of imagining your beloved with someone else—these are just a few of the emotions that accompany first love. In 'Call Me By Your Name', André Aciman beautifully captures the intensity and complexity of these feelings. With its evocative prose, 'Call Me By Your Name' transports readers to the sun-drenched beaches of the Italian Riviera. Aciman's masterful storytelling creates a vivid and unforgettable portrait of adolescent love, marked by both tenderness and heartbreak. The literary work inspired a film of the same name, directed by Luca Guadagnino, and acclaimed at festivals worldwide, including Berlin, Toronto, Rio, and Sundance, making it a strong contender for the 2018 Oscar. A captivating tale of passion, intimacy, oppression, and the bittersweet nature of love, the book is a poignant coming-of-age story that will resonate with readers. Prepare to be swept away by the raw and explicit portrayal of desire and longing. The book delves into the depths of sensuality, offering a vivid and unforgettable reading experience. While some may find certain scenes uncomfortable, they serve as a testament to the author's unflinching honesty about the complexities of human relationships. However, the novel is not without its flaws. The protagonist, Oliver, can be frustratingly immature, making it difficult to connect with his perspective. The narrative often feels like a series of suggestive glances and half-formed gestures, leaving the reader wanting more substantial development. The intense emotions portrayed, particularly the all-consuming nature of first love, are undeniably powerful. The author's vivid descriptions allow readers to fully immerse themselves in Elio's experiences. Yet, for some, the lack of character development and the over-the-top melodrama may be off-putting.
