Holy shit, could you imagine if David fucking Bowie was not only on Doctor Who but played one of the most over the top campy characters in the shows history in one of the greatest stories the show has ever made?

I would have killed to see this.

For reference if you haven't seen Caves of Androzani (which you should, even if you don't care about Doctor Who, it is must watch Sci-Fi), Sharez Jek is mad scientist who molded in the type of the Phantom of the Opera and is clad head to toe in leather that resembles fetish gear

I would have lost my mind over this.

#i read mostly scifi and fantasy #but it is not exclusive i'll try anything if it comes with a rec behind it #dabbled in the romantasy genre for my friend and those are /not/ for me #not for the smut nothing against the sexy times #imo they just weren't very good books #if you are there for the romance then that buoys the quality but the romances didn't interest me - weren't fantasies i relate to -#so they were just mediocre and not my cup of tea #i've read better smutty fanfic so i'll stick to that thanks #been in a bit of slump for good books this year which has been frustrating #best books thus far have been the three-body problem and the adventures of amina al-sirafi #especially amina al-sirafi that book was a romp absolutely adored it #book club

ok sorry to rant out of nowhere but why is tender is the flesh on every book youtuber's top 10 (or whatever) best horror books ever list 😭 it was so bad, I couldn't even finish it bc it was so uninteresting... like I would get it if a few people loved it bc people's tastes are always gonna vary, but the fact that its SO popular just baffles me like am I missing something or am I crazy or what lmao??? and one of the best books EVER?????

#it was just boring and predictable and full of weird misogyny and ''the meat industry is the same as killing/enslaving humans'' vibes #and the premise has already been done many times (and done better....)#like I wonder if people only think its so ''scary'' bc its the first time they've come across the concept of humans being farmed for meat #which IS really scary and disturbing #but if they're self professed horror fans who have read a ton of horror books how have they not come across it before lmao #like even lovecraft wrote a story with that premise #anyway no hate if you loved this book sjdghsdfs #I'm just reaching my limit with every time I'm watching a video of someone's fav horror novels and they whip this out halfway through #and then I'm suddenly doubting if I can trust their judgement on anything else 😭#also ftr it's not like the worst book I've ever read (by far) but its just so mediocre imo #🐊

the amount of DISDAIN I get from some ppl saying that blue flag is written for the straights.

girl I did not stay up til 6am reading this manga, tearing up and crying bc of how much I saw myself in characters like touma and masumi and how painfully relatable their pain/struggles were just for you to say that blue flag is for the straights

#the usage of queer pain in blue flag was done so so SO fucking tastefully and with care towards ppl who experience similar struggles #there were so many very well done nuanced discussions not only relating to queerness but also towards other topics such as heteronormativit #and societal standards and choices and change #hell I even thought that the whole discussion on homophobia towards the end was done with care- there I said it #bc it isn't just like: HOMOPHOBIC PPL BAD!!#there's layers and different sides shown that some ppl may not agree with but Jesus Christ ITS PART OF THE FUCKING DISCUSSION #yall NEED to hear these other sides and stop closing your eyes to everything that isn't just like- homophobia bad >:(#bc god forbid we have nuanced talks about touchy subjects #sorry I'm just so annoyed that this is a fandom-wide agreement that the homophobia talk was handled badly #bc imo I don't think it was it was just trying to shine the topic in a different light #anyways this manga is brilliant and amazing and I need more ppl to read this #I'm even hoping for an anime adaptation idc if itll most likely be mediocre I just need more ppl to find this story #this manga resonated with me on such a deeply personal level as a queer person that I didn't even know was possible #'blue flag utilizes queer pain as a tool for the straights-' stfu speak for your fucking self #this manga wasn't written for the straights it was written for ME actually #blue flag

Truly do not understand people upset by the Minecraft Movie's trailer. It's the Minecraft movie. It was always going to be shit. This is matching my expectations exactly. I genuinely do not understand being actually upset or angry or anything about this; literally what were you expecting???

it's amazing how every time i come across a *insert recent sw content* on my dash it's always about old characters' cameos, references to the original movies/tcw etc. - basically an echo. not an ounce of originality. every new media is built on the shoulders of some older and more popular media. everything in this galaxy of billions is about the same 8 people and has been for decades. nobody knows how to move on and they seeks out the crumbles of their lost childhood/rose-tinted glasses/happier and simpler times instead of approaching to new characters and stories and let themselves be actually challenged. this is the mcufication of sw. thanks i hate it

Tbh there's nothing quite like getting roped (pun intended) into watching a truly mediocre show that can only be described as a Trainwreck fueled by racism and abuse.

#theres enough legitimate potential that im irritated about it but the rest is just a perfect mix of everything systemically wrong #with white men in film/tv writing esp in the genre AND its a great example on just what not to do in imo for good screen/story writing #will i watch further nah only if BF needs a PT binge again but augh #what i will say is in theory it also has the benefit. if you pay attention (tho id want to research it).#of examining and explaining how bad people in the 1% get away with shit. like the long short or whatever the movie was called #but without any pay off or grace or anything of substance #and without anything shows like leverage have going for it #so you like. learn pieces potentially of how these horrific businesses operate to butcher communities and land and communities #whether its legit idk but it's one redemption or would be if there was any satisfaction in it. but there isn't because it gets drowned out #in the constant flood of conflict per episode. i mean the quota of misery and conflict per episode is impossible to meant the tension #is untenable and cannot be maintained so you end up not caring when you should be caring and the emotional moments are no longer emotional #and the interesting things you could be picking up along the way and the foreshadowing get drowned in top much (sometimes literal) bullshit #anyway. two cents on a mediocre racist show about abusive rich white men written by rich white men that could been something.
