Naomi Senju is the only daughter of Lady Tsunade and The Toad Sage Jiraiya— a result of a one-night stand between the two legendary sannins who shared a complex relationship. She was raised by her mother, unaware of who her father was until she was 4 years old due to her mother’s wariness on Jiraiya’s stance on fatherhood or his ability to commit to such a life. But he adored his daughter once finding out about her, despite still being gone most of the time to ‘research’ for his novels or on actual missions. When he would visit the village, he’d spend days with both his daughter and Tsunade. Bonding with both of them and even training Naomi little by little— and she was a little prodigy. Her chakra control and output being her strong suit even when just enrolling in the academy– which she did early at just age 4.

As Naomi aged, her mother’s gambling addiction grew ‘worse’ and she too was often gone— Leaving a young Naomi to become self-sufficient early on. She studied on her own, and with the sensei’s from the academy more often than she’d do anything else. However, her years in the ninja academy were vital for her— making a select few friendships that would last a lifetime with her fellow classmates. The young Senju struggled with making friends, though mostly due to how hot-headed she came off at that age. Not tolerating bullying around her, and not hesitating to fight others that tried to push her too far. She would have gotten in trouble if it wasn’t for how the adults seemed to favor her, be it for her young talent or sannin parentage. 

The competitive prodigy she was, once Naomi heard wind of her friend Kakashi taking the graduation exam early, she couldn’t bear falling behind. Frustrated, the young girl stormed off in a fury without thinking— not paying attention to if anyone was watching her or where she was going. She found herself lost in the forest outside of the village before several large, ferocious animals approached her. Snarling and sniffing at her before relaxing, rubbing against her extended hand for them to smell. It was confusing and odd, both for Naomi and Orochimaru who watched from a distance. The scene before the sannin taught him not to move any closer, expecting the animals to be sensitive to who could get to whatever they were guarding. But for some reason, Naomi was allowed— in fact, one of the oversized hounds began to lead her further into the woods. It was in this forest she’d find the Senju Clan’s hideout for the first time, reading a small inscription that guided her on entry before making her way inside. Curiously and anxiously looking around before spotting scroll after scroll, and book after book. She stayed in the hidden temple for hours, reading and attempting to replicate what she’d learned. When she finally left the building, Naomi knew she had learned something that would for sure convince the academy to allow her to graduate early too. 

When she returned to the village, being guided out of the thick of the forest by the oversized puppies(in her eyes), Naomi went straight to her sensei and insisted he’d watch her perform a jutsu for graduation. Once given permission, she led the teachers outdoors and began to form hand signs in quick succession before a beam of wood protruded from the palm of her hand. Extending towards a tree only 3 yards away from the young girl, before falling onto the ground. With an annoyed huff, she stomped and released the jutsu- allowing the wood to fall from her hand before she crossed her arms over her chest in a pout as she complained she didn’t do it correctly. Despite this little tantrum for not being ‘perfect,’ both the teachers and Orochimaru in the distance were astonished to see the young girl performing wood-style release even if unpolished. She was instantly granted the right to graduate alongside Kakashi. Although neither of them would be placed on teams of 3 until later, they instead did small solo assignments within the village until the rest of their class graduated. 

It was due to her unexpected ability to hone wood-style jutsu that Orochimaru would take an initial interest in her- her potential rather, especially considering the experiments he was actively working on at the time in secret. He’d start to come by more often, offering her guidance in her training until she would eventually be placed on a team of 3 alongside her friend Anko under the sannin’s tutelage. Like Anko, Orochimaru would bring Naomi to his laboratory and teach her. Both the young girls looked up to him, and Naomi even felt pride at how well she retained information or would actually assist in his work- even if she didn’t understand what was going on with it, or any of the real details. Years would pass of Naomi growing close to her sensei, attached to both him and the lab itself– almost seeing it as a safe place to do and say as she pleases. And yet, it was one fateful day when Orochimaru would bring Naomi to his lab that would change her life, and how she’d view those ‘happy’ memories of training with him for years to come. The day he would place the curse mark on her before doing the same to Anko days later, the original version of it— with Hashirama cells, curious to see how she’d react compared to the Senju children like Tenzo he was experimenting on. It was painful, confusing, and horrifying for the young girl— but she survived, and that was a positive. Soon after both she and Anko return to the village, the third coincidentally finds out about Orochimaru’s experiments on the different children and humans. Leading the girl’s sensei to abandon both them and the village altogether. 

Following Orochimaru’s disappearance, Naomi struggled to manage her curse mark while still training for the chunin exams– Seeing as when Orochimaru was still both her and Anko’s sensei he recommended the team for promotion. All three of his previous students would pass the exams and become chunin. 

For 4 years, Naomi went on missions with other chunin or assisted Jonin on any assignments she could get in between her solo training– trying to make up for the loss of a teacher on her own. Although, she finally got some solid one-on-one training with her father, Jiraiya, in this period of ‘peace.’ He’d finally teach her about his hair manipulation technique or more specifically the Needle Jizō technique. 

When the nine tails attacked, Naomi was 14. Despite all she’d seen and gone through up to this point, the destruction left on her home by the nine-tails was unlike anything she’d ever seen before. The horrors she saw from the attack caused her to put her studies and training into overdrive as if she wasn’t already overworking herself. In just two years after the nine-tails attack, Naomi had successfully passed the exam and additional requirements to be promoted to Jonin at age 16.  (I will make posts with art of her I get commissioned over time to describe and talk about her life during the series !! and potentially write more about her as a whole.)

Kakashi checked the contents of his pack, ensuring he still had some food and adequate medical supplies. Bedrolls had been shaken out and put away, and the small fire they'd rested next too was carefully covered once the hottest of the embers had been smothered out.

Kakashi didn't mind the small signs left behind that would offer their attackers a trail to follow, in fact that's what he wanted.

"I wouldn't put you in any kind of situation I didn't think you were ready for." Kakashi replied. "What's important is to be prepared and to stay two steps ahead of the enemy, that is why we're going to lead them to a more favorable position and catch them off guard."

ANBU had been hunting them for three days. Eventually these restless nights were going to catch up to the both of them.

Kyo - Impressionist Vignettes: OFFICIAL REVIEW

[Foreword]:

To begin, Mike Faris AKA Kyo (FKA Demon Eyes Kyo) is an artist I respect immensely. He is also a dear friend and someone I consider a kindred soul. I take every verse he writes, sings and/or raps as a chance to understand more of his worldview and thought process. That said, I'm extremely honoured (so much so I just spelled honored with a FARKING letter U) to have been chosen as one of the trusted to review this, his debut album. I am Darris Marcell Kisai Parker, and this is Impressionist Vignettes by Kyo.

[Track 1ne] - Yasiin (prod. by kaptain planet): So from the start we get a gritty, dark boom bap jawn produced by the impeccable kaptain planet. It's always lit when planet links up with Kyo because Kyo starts to slip into his particular brand of what he calls "sophisticated ignorance", a glorious combination of swagger, hyperbole, and good old-fashioned dark humor. In this instance, however, Kyo's lyrics are more sober, less grandiose. He chooses to lampshade how basic and one-note some artists tend to be in their portrayals. He even pays homage to one of his fellow CPC member's songs (Views by Savior Monroe). And most of all, Kyo just makes it plain how serious he is in this outing. This one is less about stellar bars and schemes and more about the human experience as interpreted by Mike Faris. I'm here for it. Quotable: "Ain't my fault if the truth hurtin' ya feelin's. You ain't puttin' work with writtens murkin' the rhythm. You just jerkin' the listeners like jamaican chicken."

[Track 2wo] - Highland (prod. by Lé Real): An autobiographical stroll over a jazzy lofi road paved by a Castle In The Sky faithful, the uber-talented Lé Real. Here, Kyo talks about his old stomping ground, a place in Michigan called Highland. He highlights the rough yet sensitive nature of the milieu, the roaming opinions of passive observers looking in from the outside, the desperate grab for tough guy points by those who probably can't get into the Salty Spittoon otherwise, the ones who live in nicer areas, who don't really HAVE TO be in such an area. Kyo warns these folks about greenness of grass, and tells them in no plain terms to get a life of their own. This is the stuff I was looking for. And he delivered. Quotable: "A double-wide was like a luxury home! Havin' both parents there the rarest of luxuries tho and I know; I'm one of the lucky ones when it comes to that, Most of my homies wasn't tho, that's just the facts..."

[Track 3hree] - Flowers From The Old Vic Stage (prod. by Medical Nindo, guitars by Kyo):  Kyo sings, by the way! I feel like typically when artists try to be multi-layered it's an attempt to appeal to a public all too swayed by gimmicky shallow bullshit. But in Kyo's case, he really carries all the musicianship and artistry necessary to sustain the various mantles he's borne over the years. That said, on the singer/songwriter tip, Kyo is something to witness. But if you've followed his work at all, you've probably heard this on display on his previous work, "The Imposter's Muse". His poet's soul is on display here in track three, a somber, romantic ballad produced by the smooth/savage master himself, Medical Ninjutsu aka Medical Nindo. Some of y'all might know him as Diggz Da Prophecy. Kyo accompanies our resident "Hood Nerd Sage" on the guitar, providing weepy, melancholy-yet nostalgic licks that carry the heady tone of his musings. A song from the perspective of a tragic lover of a former star of the stage and screen, a person with whom our hero was enraptured, with whom he was close, a flame that perhaps burned too bright and sputtered into dying embers. "I wonder..." The words pass his lips several times over, each time a different thread carried on their doleful, mournful wind. Quotable: I'm not giving you one. Listen to the song.

[Track 4our] - Summer '09 (prod. by River Sanzu):  So, ironically, Summer '09 is a time of major importance to me because it was a time when I was ambivalent towards life. I was holding down a job I truly loved, but not seeing much of the money I was getting paid due to familial obligations, I was dating one of my current best friends, a relationship I look back on fondly even now. But it seemed like everything in the world conspired to keep us apart and as such I felt like I was failing her. I was writing some of the best bars of my life, but I had no way to record and couldn't afford to hit anyone's studio. I was dependent on music to keep me going and every month I had an issue with my mp3 player. I was finally seeing some measure of freedom, but at the same time I was constantly being appraised by family members as an adult acting like a child. As if they alone held the yardstick by which adulthood is measured and everyone's lived experiences were supposed to be uniform with the same milestones at the same times as if life worked that way. And to top it off, my father's genes were kicking in and I started to lose hair, just when I was getting ready to pimp my afro to the max! (RIP afro dreams). I just felt like I was languishing in some sort of middleground hell where everything was awesome but terrible at the same time. I constantly questioned whether I even wanted to be alive. Looking back, I always tell myself it wasn't that bad. It was just growing pains and every adult has them. But you couldn't tell me shit in the moment. I'd've said "Life is iffy af for me right now." On another side of the country, here is Kyo, driving drunk on his way to kick it with his friends. The same ambilavence towards the idea of continuing life present in his thoughts and actions. Instead leaving it to the "Most High" to determine his fate, he arrives unscathed at the function, has a rowdy old time with his buddies, the sort of things youths get into when together. "Freestyling and clowning", card games, even more drinking, some squabbles-nothing that really matters between friends however, and just being in the moment, then Kyo drives (possibly even more drunk) back home. Again he tosses the dice and leaves it up to higher powers to determine if he will make it home. And there you have it, a square out of the quilted tapestry that is Kyo's life. River Sanzu aka Lit Yagami AKA Ish1da creates a city pop-infused backdrop that perfectly encompasses the nostalgic feel of Kyo's ride through memory lane. One of my favorite songs on the album honestly. Also I'm really mad I didn't produce this because it's amazing. Not quite as mad as Ethos made me that one time but I may still turn into a dog for 3 seconds... GRRRRRRR (DAWG MODE) Quotable: "They say seeing is believing, these demons I'm seeing in my rearview mirror keep chasing, I stay weaving through lanes and I'm.... still thuggin' it, drunk in public and unequpped to handle the mental stresses I struggle with but it's just... One mo' night in Summer '09!"

[Track 5ive] - You Go To My Head (prod. by RealVenom):  Kyo’s strongest quality as an artist is his ability to depict the various aspects of his point of view without sacrificing impact. In “You Go To My Head”, he croons, raps and waxes poetic to the subject of his affection. It’s tender, but in a truly relatable fashion. I consider myself strongly in the romantic camp, so endeavors like these speak to me. I blame my soft heart. The warm lofi provided by RealVenom just makes you feel like you’re by a warm fireplace, keeping warm inside from the harsh winter. A glass of wine, a bag of marshmallows for roasting and some good-looking company and you’ve got a night. Kudos to both Kyo and Venom for making such a dope jam. Quotable: “And if you got me seein’ double... That’s twice as many chances to say I love you...”

[Track 6ix] - Moving To Detroit (prod. by Camp Phire Connection, guitars by Kyo): Here is a fully acoustic affair. Just Kyo, his trusty guitar, and us, the listener. In “Moving To Detroit”, he intimates the lonely predicament of a single man deciding to move to what is considered the saddest city in the country according to a study. He mulls over dating the local women hoping for a shot at love, relates his hopes that any local toughs don’t harass or assault him, and mentions his prior OWI (An incident he explained in detail to me in a conversation we had.) and the consequences thereof. “Moving to Detroit” is a somber, reflective look at both himself and his environment, and rather than feeling like a fly on the wall, we are put right there in the passenger seat as he takes us along for this ride. It’s an eye-opener, for sure. Quotable: “It’s not as bad as everyone says in the city, but every time I head home I feel such relief when I hit the freeway. If I move down there and my friends come visit me, they’ll also get to know how good that feels. I guess you’re welcome...” [Track 7even] - Vignettes feat. Savior Monroe (prod. by Camp Phire Connection): The only vocal guest feature on this album comes from fellow Camp Phire Connection artist and founder Savior Monroe. “Vignettes” is gorgeously produced, a shoegaze-y blues waltz number by Kyo and Savior. Both artists give amazingly heartfelt accounts of grace. of friendship and of humanity. The feeling is just abstract enough, just specific enough. Truly these are just vignettes. But that’s all we needed. Quotable: “But for now I can still paint you with an impressionist’s view. I might not remember the facts, but I still remember the truth.” [Track 8ight] - French Lessons (prod. by Camp Phire Connection, guitars by Kyo): Kyo’s trusty guitar returns once more, fair accompaniment for a sultry number about SEX. Yep. Sex. Who among us doesn’t simply long for the next chance to be intimate with a special someone. There’s something magical about when two souls connect, REALLY CONNECT, for those precious moments. Even sometimes when it’s empty, it’s still grand. Here, Kyo says it all. Quotable: “Sex is empty, sex is death, so baby please kill me then hold me in your arms until I resurrect. Sex is endless, sex is French, le petit mort, the little death, and rebirth and first breath and back again.” Track 9ine] - Snow (prod. by Lé Real): Snow, to put it plain an simply, is hard. Hard as pavement. Once more, we’re right there in the room with Kyo as he relates some tales from his life. I don’t even wanna talk too much about this one. It’s something that just needs to be heard. It’s too real for me to adequately put into words.  Quotable: None, just peep the song. [Track 10en] - Philip Seymour Hoffman (prod. by Kisai The Spooniest Bard): Iono who the hell this Kisai The Spooniest bard dude thinks he is, but we gonna fight because this beat is fire. He could have at least let me rap on this. Not that I’m salty because Kyo did his thing. But seriously this is a great closer. Something about that japanese jazz sample makes such a great backdrop for Kyo to compare himself to Vincent Van Gogh and Philip Seymour Hoffman (RIP to two of the greats). As artists our art is what we use to combat the negative feelings that dwell in our mortal minds. Not everyone can win this fight, but Kyo is dead set on winning. If I hadn’t heard this song before judging, I’d have told you that the beat used doesn’t fit the theme of the album, but I’d have been wrong. Kyo made it work like only he could and the result is a track that both producer and artist could be proud of. Quotable: “In a world of visigoths and vandals I’m Vincent Van Gogh, battle depression with insufficient ammo.” [Afterword]: Impressionist Vignettes is a ride, friends. Tonally, It starts low and ends high, moodwise it’s as human as we are. And from an artistic standpoint, it’s probably Kyo’s strongest work to date. I recommend you give it a spin. I learned something and so might you. One final note. Big ups to Savior Monroe on the engineering end. This album sounds great beginning to end. Kisai out. So I felt like writing some Kakashi angst fic... This is my first fic so please be kind :)

For the sake of story let me clarify few things, this is post obito getting crushed by rock period, except he died ( sorry ) and kakashi didn't kill rin so she's alive.

After obito died you got added to team Minato as a third member even though you were a medical nun like rin you were pretty good at taijutsu, over the time you became close friends with both Kakashi and rin.

You three often went on mission together and you made a great team. Kakashi is still haunted by obito's death by his promise to obito that he would keep rin safe kept him going. It took him a while to get comfortable with you but when he he got to know you he felt a wave of warmth spread across his body, his heart felt light and his mind clear of all the self doubts he carried. It took him a while to realise that he was in love with you.

So after one particular mission where he saw you protecting rin from a hidden nin made him confess his feelings to you. He was shy and first but he confessed and you.... You fell for him. You fell for his strength, his nindo, his ninkens, his humour...

Kakahsi decided to keep your relationship secret for the sake of your safety. He knows he has kill on sight order in many lands and people wouldn't hesitate to use you to get to him. That was the last thing he wanted. It frustrated you at first not being able to hold hands in public, not being able to go out on dates like other couple.

It frustrated you how Kakashi was open to physical affection from rin in front of others but with you he often kept it behind closed doors. You knew they were childhood friends and you knew about Kakashi's promise to obito. But, Kakashi made a promise to you too, to keep you happy and safe.. there were times when you let these thoughts consume you but when Kakashi cooks dinner for you, when he lets you play with his ninkens, when he kisses you these thoughts evaporate into thin clouds.

This mission was proving to be extremely tricky, things were not going your way, All you had to do was rescue the villagers of a small village not far from konoha from the rule of few delinquents.

You and Kakashi had managed to take out the delinquents but the condition of few villagers was looking bad. It seemed they were injected with a particular kind of poison that renders them paralysed. These delinquents used this to rob houses and treasuries.

"This poison doesn't seem potent to me, I think we should go back to konoha and get more people to deal with this, it will most likely resolve on its own" to in said looking at Kakashi.

For some reason she never spoke directly at you, it was always at Kakashi, you knew she had feelings for him. Kakashi knew rin had feelings for him.

You looked at villagers writhing in pain , "it might be too late, we should try healing them as much as we can before going back to get more people. We don't know how potent this poison can be and we cannot leave them in this condition"

"y/n this poison is not that serious, I have checked their condition and..."

"and you're sure about your diagnosis rin?"

"are you doubting me right now? I have experience and this doesn't seem that bad"

"I still think we should stay and try to heal them as much as we can only because you don't think it's bad doesn't mean it isn't and..."

'Y/N ENOUGH!!" Kakahsi yelled suddenly making your words die down in your throat. "rin knows what she's doing, I trust her. She's a great medical nin. As the captain of this Mission I say we go back"

You looked at rin who had a tinge of pink dusting her cheeks.

"fine, you both can go back and I'll stay here to monitor the situation.." can he sense the hurt in your voice?

Kakashi sighed and agreed to it. Him and rin left for konoha and you focused on the situation at hand. This seems bad. You started healing villagers one be one and you found out that not only it paralyses them but not getting treated on time can cause permanent paralysis. You were glad you stayed.

It took one day for rin and Kakashi and to come back with other medical nin. One of them shizune being and expert in poison also accompanied them.

When they got back you couldn't look at Kakashi. You couldn't look at either Kakashi or rin. You explained the situation to Shizune. She knelt beside one of the villagers and ran a hand over his chest.

"I'm glad y/n stayed behind, this poison is quite potent if given in such quantities, it can cause permanent paralysis if not treated on time? Did you manage to heal them completely?"

" no, I could only extract about 50% from each of the 15 villagers, I didn't have enough chakra left.."

"it's quite alright then, we can take It from here, you should rest, you look spent"

You turned around without meeting Kakashi's gaze and left to rest in one of the huts. You could feel the ache in your chest and your limbs felt like jelly. Neither your brain not your heart had the capacity to deal with Kakashi right now. But this didn't stop him from following you into the hut.

"y/n can we talk?"

"Yes captain". You couldn't look him in the eyes, you were to hurt and one look at him would have you crumbling.

"I'm sorry, I should have trusted you-"

"it's alright". You cut him off with a painful smile. He took a step towards you, you took a step back. "look y/n I know I made a mistake okay? But you have to understand that I had to pick a side.."

"then why couldn't you be on my side?!"

You didn't want to tell at him. You hated it.

"why couldn't you ever take my side? Why couldn't you ever rush to help me when I am surrounded by enemy? Why does it always has to be her?" You couldn't help the tears from falling but you didn't care. You've had enough of being second. A replacement if what you felt like.

"you said you wanted to keep us a secret and I agreed but that doesn't mean you can't Be seen out with me? This happens everytime and I am tired of being second now, I am tired of being your secret and I am tired of being like this..god!.. when was the last time your pulled the "I am the captain" card to defend me?"

"y/n please calm down, you know I made a promise to obito to keep her safe and always be there for her-"

"you made a promise to me too Kakashi ! but I guess I am not important enough for my promise to be kept, tell me how am I supposed to live with the fact that my boyfriend will never be by my side or will only look at my behind closed doors.." you could feel energy draining out of your body drop by drop and Kakashi reached out to hold you but you slapped his hand away.

"this might be a small thing for you Kakashi but it isn't for me.."

"y/n please I am sorry I know I should have trusted you I know... Fuck y/n please just trust me on this that this is the last time and I promise I'll never make you feel this way...I promise y/n please.." you could hear the crack in his voice as he spoke but it was hard for you to believe him.

"I'm sorry Kakashi I just need some time alone.. "

"at least let me stay with you ,please y/n.."

"I think you should go out afterall you're the captain of this Mission.." with a heavy sigh Kakashi left you alone.

His heart ached and now he realised what you went through. How you put up with everything he asked for only wanting to be with him in return, Kakashi worked with every fiber in his body with the only aim of returning to you and telling you how stupid he was, he worked thinking about all the time he could have made you feel this way, his breath hitched and tears threatened to fall from this single visible eye every time he looked at the direction of your tent.. at night he entered the tent you were supposed to be resting in only to find it empty, when he asked Shizune she told him that she sent you back because you were to tired to continue and using any more of chakra could have harmed you.

Kakashi couldn't look at rin, everytime as he did he thought about how his behaviour hurt you. He declined her offer for lunch when they got back to konoha. All he could think about now was you and how hurt you were and how sorry he was. He knew no amount of apologies would ever be enough but he was ready to take whatever it you'd give him..

So when Kakashi recahed the gates of konoha he ran towards the hospital, he asked the nurses about you but none of them could look at him. What was happening? Where is y/n and why won't anybody tell me anything!

"Kakashi"

"Dr.Miro where is y/n? None of the nurses will tell me anything!"

Dr.Miro took Kakashi to one of the room, through the glass he saw you lying on the bed unconscious, surrounded by wires and monitor. He didn't understand, you seemed fine, what happened?

"while returning from the village she was attacked by some of the rogues that got away, she fought them as much as she could but it seemed like her chakra levels were already quite low, luckily one of the other teams were returning the same way and they assisted her, but she was in a bad condition, she has been unconscious since two days but we are monitoring her closely.."

No this can't be happening, not to you, not to his y/n! Fuck he should have stayed back with you and helped you! You wouldn't be this out of chakra then! None of this would have happened if he would have just stayed with you! You would have been fine, he would have told you he loved you, but now he can only whisper it under his breath as his legs gave up and he sat on the bench outside. You had to wake up! You had to! He'd do anything for you to be back!

But now all he did was stay outside your room, and look through the looking glass at the girl whom he loves and prayed to whatever god was out there that she comes back to him..his y/n..

Naruto Ending Rant (Part 1)

Finale: Marriage is not necessarily romantic here. Sorry Naruhina fans (which includes me).

Marriage is the next stage in a man’s manhood as he ascends to the final patriarch figure, which he does but only after he becomes a father. Social as he always is, he is the father and the protector of the village and not just his family—very similar to Hashirama who was willing to kill Madara to protect his village. Boruto’s plot (last I checked) was basically getting validation from his father. Boruto has a great scope for championing individuality but I doubt Kishi can write it. They already villainized technology and have horrible superficial understanding of alien sci-fi and time travel. This ain’t Marvel son. Konoha is a refuge from that kind of noise for many of us, so I don’t see how they can make this work.

Naruto and Hinata: If I am to talk about these two, I will have to tear apart the heavy and I mean HEAVY patriarchal representation in this show. True to my own values, that is my Nindo (except when I am indulging in guilty pleasures), I must do it. Why do no women in this plot except Tsunade have any significant role? Tsunade who is a Hokage! a. is saved by Naruto when he is not even in his full form b. objectified af c. obsessed with her own youth and insecure of her ageing d. masculine af in her leadership and commands, like okay, you don’t have to shout all the time to exert power. This is even more problematic because Sakura’s other personality that she hides, is also masculine af. While I admire brute strength, I don’t get why they need to act masculine out of their way. Also...I simply don’t agree with girls being medical ninja. Please have male medics as well who are actively visible in the plot.

Hinata is strong and feminine—which is a double edged sword because although it is a great and SAFE idea, it also makes me feel that her femininity might be exaggerated for the hero? Like, let’s give him the bustiest and most feminine woman in the plot who is strong but not strong enough, so there is a good space for the hero to save her? From a high clan, that too? Besides, why the fuck is she not strong even after training every single hour of the day?? Like show us more instances where she is fighting and she actually wins. Her identity should also be more than a cheerleader. She confessed her love on a battlefield, this should be a character that should not withdraw to sidelines and should at least be as important as Sakura.

Adding a sister helped her identity but it seemed a superficial relationship still. I think they came up with the sad Neji prison plot and then just forgot about it? They could have shown Hinata willingly step down for Hanabi. True to her character, she would have taken the mark for Hanabi because that’s how she is. Her love is sacrifical. For a show which was obsessed with “brothers”, a sisters theme would have also been nice. She had an equally bad childhood as Naruto, if not worse, but where is her journey? It seriously can’t just be a copy paste? She needs to confront her fears and her father strongly. Where is the character development? At one point, they themselves made a joke that Hinata only gets a single line, which is Naruto, and that’s pretty sad ngl.

Hmmmmm okay fuck it we’re doing time-travel.

Warning for... very odd attitudes about ‘breeding’ from clan POV. Like... you know what I mean. (The weird fanon eugenics vibes of the Hyuuga do not gel with me, so I’m just going to treat them like purebred cats.)

Also this did NOT end up ‘whatever is funniest,’ holy smokes.

She is seventeen, unsealed, and... perfect.

She is not a perfect warrior, no. She is not even a perfect lady, or a perfect spy. No, the woman from the future is the perfection of a Main Line child unmarred by the inbreeding they are so careful to avoid but so liable to run into.

The examination of her eyes leaves the medic breathless. Her skin is clearer than they think possible--apparently the formation of a village will lead to better nutrition, better hygiene, better hospitals. Her hair is like silk.

She is as perfect as a doll.

“I am not a broodmare,” she says, when the whispers first start. “And I refuse to allow the barbarism of the Caged Bird Seal to continue.”

“Hold your tongue, girl!”

She lifts her head. She watches.

She is far too calm.

“I promised my cousin, as he died on the battlefield, that I would abolish the seal. I keep my promises, Honorable Elder. It is my nindo.”

She was born the heir, and for all that she is an intruder to this era, Hinata is still an heir. The current clan head is young, and has no children. With Hinata unsealed and powerful, young and lithe and useful, she is easily slotted into the role of heir. Her blood befits it, supposedly.

Oh they titter, for sure. Hinata is capable of wearing the clothing of the time, but she prefers things in a cut closer to what she arrived in. She spent years building up her confidence to the point where she could bare her arms. She had months with Ino coaching her into taking pride in her muscles, teaching her to be unashamed of her chest. Hinata refuses to let them take that away from her.

They sneer, some of them, but Hinata is not the child she once was. She fought in the Fourth War. She attacked Pein alone. She has fought a Rinnegan and survived, if only because of the man she loved, and she is no longer the kind of girl that is cowed by an elderly fool with a cutting remark.

But she is still an heir, and not a clan head in her own right. There is no affection to hold back Hyuuga Hideki, not as there was with Hiashi or as there would have been with Hanabi. Hideki does not know her, for all that her genealogy lists him as her great-grandfather, and he thinks little of setting her up for a marriage.

“Am I to know the name of my groom?” Hinata asks.

(She does not worry for leaving the clan. They would not waste a Byakugan as clear as hers. They will bring in new, strong blood, for the so-called purity of Hinata’s line is a scant generation from breaking to something ugly, but they will keep her and her groom within the clan. Her children, her eyes, belong to the clan. They dare not let her leave, and to sell her off is anathema.)

“No,” Hideki tells her. “We haven’t decided.”

“I see.”

There’s a pang in her heart, when she looks at the wedding kimono. She’d hoped for love, before. She’d hoped for Naruto’s hand in hers, or if he did not want her, to find and grow a relationship with another. She’d have been able to have her pick of the pack, so to speak.

Perfect, unmarred heiress.

Several branch members help her into the layers and layers of formal dress. They comb her hair into too-complex twists and paint her face in ways that feel old and unpleasant.

(Tradition is as tradition does, but to be nearly a century in the past is stifling.)

Hinata is not a broodmare, and she has been clear on such a point, but she is still a valuable piece on the board that the clan has received without expectation. They use her as they use anyone. She is here to battle on the field, if necessary, but she is far more vital in securing an alliance. Principled, they call her. Headstrong for ideals that barely exist yet, ideals that won’t be commonplace for decades yet.

“Silk hiding steel,” one elderly branch woman says, approval in her eyes and on her tongue. “I hope they keep you.”

Hinata never wanted to be clan head, but there is no Hanabi here to take up Neji’s cause and drive it to completion. There are no others willing to dedicate themselves to abolishing this wretched seal, and so it falls to Hinata. She will not fail.

Her groom makes such a thing more than feasible.

The wedding is traditional, rigid, and ultimately successful. Hinata is ‘hitched,’ as Kiba might have said, and she keeps her face pleasantly disinterested for the whole of it. The party afterwards is livelier, but only because of the clan she has tied herself to.

They retire soon enough. The marriage is not complete, after all.

“I don’t suppose the Hyuuga are one of the clans willing to take a person’s word for consummation,” her new husband says.

“There are ways of checking after the fact,” she says. She passes a hand over the wall, and the designs painted into the wood glow faintly. “But for the act itself, we have privacy.”

She is eighteen, almost nineteen. She is newly wedded to a man who is a stranger in all but name, and she plans to change history every bit as much as he does.

He still grimaces. “You are... a bit young.”

“You flatter me,” she says. “But I am of an age to be wed, and so of an age to engage in... more carnal matters.”

This does not soothe him. “If you are to beget a child this young... it’s old enough that you’d avoid the worst of the consequences, but the risk is still there. Your body is still changing, as likely as not.”

She cannot help it. She laughs. “I’ve no need to secure a pregnancy as of yet, Honored Husband. While the contract may have stated we consummate immediately, my own clan’s elders have chosen to look the other way if we take a few years to solidify the alliance with a child.”

He’s less than five years older than her, and walks as though he expects and even asks to carry the weight of the world on his own two shoulders. The relief that breaks across his face is almost childlike in its openness.

“I was not informed,” he says. “I am glad to hear it.”

Hinata ducks her head and smiles. “Your concern for me is appreciated. I have some small medical training of my own, and can prevent a pregnancy with relatively little ease until the village your brother spoke of is formed. They would not want to waste a kunoichi with battlefield experience, after all.”

He nods. He hesitates. He asks, nonetheless, “Are you truly so firm in your belief of such? They said you supported the concept of the village, but to see you speak of it so confidently is a surprise.”

Hinata watches him for a moment, and then stands and moves to the armoire. She has very few things left from the future she cannot return to, but there are two she has kept for this situation.

She returns to her husband with her forehead protector in one hand, a ragged bingo book in the other, and a scroll tucked into her obi.

He looks them over. He turns the pages with a crease in his brow, feels at the woven mesh and linen the metal is riveted to. He looks up and asks, “How many decades?”

“Hideki-sama would have been my grandfather. However, as things stand, that is no longer assured,” she says. “You were some fifty years dead when I was sent back in time.”

“I see,” he says, and looks back down. “There are not many Senju or Uchiha in this booklet. Did they not defect at high rates, or...”

“Both clans were down to a single surviving member by the time I was seventeen,” Hinata tells him. “The Uzumaki down to two.”

“So the village system--”

“Was not at fault,” Hinata says. He looks up sharply, and she smiles. “I can tell you how it all happened, and what can be done to prevent it, but it will not be easy.”

“Such things never are,” he says. He looks back down at the bingo book, frowning. “You choose to help save my clan, after I have married into yours. I expect you hope for some aid in return?”

“Oh, to prevent the destruction the Senju and Uchiha is to prevent the end of the world,” she says. “I would do this even if it wasn’t, but as it stands, there is indeed something I will ask you to help with.”

“Something equal to preventing the end of the world?” he asks, and she thinks he may be trying to add a dash of humor to the heavy conversation. She appreciates the attempt, for all that it fails.

“It is to me,” she says instead, and pulls the scroll from her obi. “You are a fuuinjutsu master, are you not?”

“My sister-in-law is better,” he says. “But yes, I’m nearing such a level.”

Hinata nods. “The history books said as much.”

He eyes her for a moment, brows narrowed, and then unfurls the scroll.

She waits.

It doesn’t take long for him to inhale sharply. “This is barbaric.”

“Yes, I agree,” she says, calm and pleasant. “I’m not supposed to be showing you this. I hope you understand.”

He looks at her. “You want me to change it?”

“Removal first,” she says. “We need a substitute ready when we do so, to prevent at least one angle of argument. A seal that still destroys the eyes at death, but without the... more unpleasant aspects.”

“You want me to help you stage a coup in your own clan.”

“Not a coup. If Hideki is willing to allow for the changes to the seal, then I am uninterested in replacing him. I have no great dreams of leadership, Honored Husband. I simply wish to free my family of their bonds.”

“And to help me save my clan.”

“By saving the world, yes.” She smiles at him. “I’ll save your clan if you save mine?”

He closes his eyes and shakes his head. “I can’t... well. This isn’t quite what I expected.”

“Of that, I’m sure.”

"I agree to your terms,” he says. “Also... while I am like to officially outrank you on the battlefield and in the village that will be, I was under the impression that, within the confines of the Hyuuga compound, you outrank me, and outside of it, we are equals.”

“That is correct.”

“In that regard, please stop addressing me as ‘Honored Husband,’” he says. “It is surprisingly uncomfortable to hear.”

Hinata can’t help but laugh at him again. “Of course. Shall I call you Tobirama-kun instead, then?”

“Am I to address you as ‘Hinata-chan?’” He asks, a tad too dry. “Or simply dear?”

“Darling.”

“Sweetheart.”

“Beloved.”

“I’m not one for pet names.”

“What a shame. I am.”

Yes. She rather thinks this will turn out splendidly. She may not have the true love of her dreams, but this... this will work.

so i kinda want to write that fix-it AU that starts with sasuke and naruto making friends early - what do you mean that’s been done before? so? - and i’m probably not going to, but at least i’d like to write the wave arc. from sakura’s pov, because the fic is 100% goign to be sakusasunaru. because i want the summary to be something like ‘everybody know sasuke and naruto are best friends. for years now, tey’ve sown chaos through the village, and the pair of orphans are dreaded from every authority figures. sakura is the unlucky kunoichi chosen to be their teammate.’ (well, what sasuke and naruto are up to is still up in the air, but i really want to throw sakura in the situation of being the odd one out between the other two, and being smoothly folded into their team actually. not much difference is made into anything until, like, post chuunin exams, because while sasuke and naruto know more abotu teamwork, sasuke is still a ball of anger and grief, and naruto didn’t actually get that much better at ninja arts. maybe we’ve just done away with the crush and it’s just a given that naruto and sasuke will end up together. until sakura comes in the picture, and somehow she ends up naturally part of them)

anyway, despite being 14 episodes long in the anime (which is. way too long. what the fuck. five six episodes max and that’d be long already), the wave arc is incredibly important for shaping team 7. If sakura shows faith in naruto during the chuunin exam (fight against kiba - so does kakashi but kakashi is kakashi and he’s. every time kakashi shows belief in someone you shoudl take out the twenty pages powerpoint), it’s because of the wave arc. there’s a lot happening! there’s a lot of what naruto will become, and how, and why, and we can see kakashi, sakura, and sasuke react to the first instances of naruto being Like That. Born to Yuemon Koizumi and Yakaku Misaki, Yukari was a quiet child. Often secluded from the folks in her village, both by her own choice and from her parent's overprotectiveness. She was born and raised during the third great Shinobi War, although her parents attempted to shelter her until she was ‘ready enough,’ as a medical-nin. But enough was never enough for her parents, holding standards high due to their clan's status as the backbone of the mist’s forces as the main source of healing during combat encounters. Yukari studied, stayed indoors, and rarely spoke to many folk– only going to the shore or the academy when she was young. 

Once she became a genin, her parents halted her ninja training– officially, while still teaching her at home. Having the young girl attempting medical ninjutsu at levels higher than she should for her age or skill, nonetheless, she worked hard to appease her parents with nothing but a blank stare. She exhausted herself, becoming both a workaholic and a people pleaser at such a young age– even developing the bags beneath her eyes she has to this day at age 13.

Eventually just before her 16th birthday, was around the time she had attained her hundreds healing mark– the third ninja war came to an end and she never saw combat. The closest the Yukari had come to such a thing was one evening when she was in the woods just outside of the village. Mist blurring her vision for long distances, but she was quite used to it by this point. Casually gathering medicinal herbs and flowers, when she came face to face with an enemy shinobi in battle with one of her village’s own. She moved without thinking when she saw red spill from both of the men, dropping all the flora in her arms to rush towards where they lay on the ground. Red staining the grass beneath her feet, and leaving a stain in her memory. She kneeled down and began attempting to use the healing ninjutsu she’d spent her whole life studying, focusing on the kirigakure shinobi first. He had no pulse, and now the red pooling from his wounds stained her pale palms. As she lifted her shaking hands to examine the blood dripping off of them the enemy rose to his feet behind her, casting a shadow over where she knelt beside the fresh corpse. She moved without thinking once again, taking the first weapon in her reach– a tanto sword on the waistband of the fallen kirigakure shinobi in front of her, and she turned to face the enemy. It was a blur, mist hazing over her memory for the next several minutes. When she looked down again, registering what she’d done and what was in front of her– the red had stained more than before. Her grip on the tanto loosened until it fell into the puddle below her, and as she stepped back to view the scene she’d left– The enemy shinobi slaughtered, and seemingly still brutalized after the life had left the body. Only glimpses of red, her hand swinging and the enemy trying to take the tanto from her remained in her memory. She returned home that day, her pale blue dress stained and ruined with red– along with her mind. The quiet girl grew more quiet after these events. 

Once the war had ended, information about the hidden mist began to be leaked to other villages– including the details of the Koizumi clan. Yukari was unaware of this intel leak or what seemed to be an unconnected fact– a hidden leaf shinobi had gone rogue, abandoning his village in pursuit of power and to learn more jutsu. The girl was just unlucky to be wearing her clan symbol while once again foraging in the same clearing within the forest as the battle she’d gotten herself involved in just months before. A man named Orochimaru kidnapped her in that clearing, solely because of the Koizumi clan symbol on her back. 

She spent several years going through experimentation, tests, and combat– being injured and instructed to heal herself, healing other victims of Orochimaru, and so on became typical daily occurrences for Yukari. And one day, shortly after her 18th birthday, she’d be ‘gifted’ with her very own curse mark from Orochimaru. Resulting in more training, testing, and observations on her to examine how she withstood the mark or if it improved her whatsoever. It wasn’t until Orochimaru left the Akatsuki the following year that he also decided he was bored of the lack of improvement Yukari was showing. He released her, not out of compassion– quite the opposite, thinking she’d struggle on her own with the curse mark and nowhere to go. 

The girl roamed for some time and returned to her village, her 24th birthday approaching when she was approached by a masked man– offering her a role, and place to go. Noting how he could see how this shinobi world had wronged her thus far, and other manipulative phrases to convince the quiet woman to join him in a group he called the Akatsuki. With a blank expression she agreed, more indifferent than anything to the proposition or his words that echoed in her mind. 

It would be within the Akatsuki that Yukari would finally meet the shinobi she’d hoped to spend the rest of her life beside. Finding solace in the hideout, and the community within the group– as odd and violent as they all could often be. She quickly took on her role as the mediator and general ‘caretaker,’ as well as the medical unit behind them all.

          i, like most of the general fandom, am also upset and frustrated with how kishi treated the women of nart after it was all said and done. 

          but don’t misunderstand, there’s nothing wrong with aspiring to be a housewife. that’s a legit job and a good one, good moms are not a dime a dozen and if someone wanted to be the best mother they could be that’s awesome, more power to them. but sakura and hinata didn’t have that initial goal/dream? they never did. throughout the entire series they never proclaimed their nindo was ‘become a housewife’ it just felt so out of place? in nart culture it seems ‘traditional’ for the women to stay home and take care of the kids because ninja lives are dangerous and never guaranteed but still it’s??? not fair???? hinata has so much power and potential and she should have been a shining beacon of change in her clan and become the clan leader. sakura was (still is?) the best medical ninja to ever grace the world and could have made some pretty incredible strides in medical jutsus and i mean who’s to say the two couldn’t have become jounin team leaders themselves? ON TOP OF raising a family? its insulting to think they are only capable of one task and thats living at home and putting their own dreams aside.

What type of girl would Itachi be attracted to?

Hello Anon! So these are just some thoughts from the Little Lace Secret Notebook. They may be different from my usual writing…which is different from most things anyway…so is this normal? Anyway I really hope you like it! And that it make sense. ~ Admin Little Lace🎀

Itachi Uchiha is a thinker. Or rather he thinks to much. He can be in his head for hours debating life’s big questions or planning for the future. While in this deep level of thought, the man can dodge a kunai but he may not notice a girl standing right in front of him. Whatever girl he is attracted to he has to actually notice her first.

For that to be achieved she has to do something to gain his attention. And not by gawking or vying for it. Chances are what it would take to get his is, oddly enough, something very small. It is something they probably do every day, a personality trait or action that displays their true nature. Honesty is important. Too many people, in his experience, have hidden agendas. So, seeing what she does when no one is looking is important to him. For instance, a teacher that takes time to console a sad student, or maybe a bar maid that ensures a drunken stranger get home safely.

The Uchiha values a kind and nurturing spirit. A woman who is willing to take care of another is amazing to him. But not just someone who’s job it is, like a medic. More, someone who is kind when it doesn’t benefit them, perhaps still a medic but one who makes house calls to the elderly in the village.

A kind spirit may turn his head, but there would have to be other attributes to gain his attraction. She would have to be strong. That doesn’t necessarily mean physically. He is a shinobi, he is around strong, capable women day in and day out. Don’t get him started on Uchiha women. While physical prowess is an admirable quality, strength of will is more attractive to him. The shinobi that defends their comrade in battle or has a strong following of their own nindo. Someone that is willing to risk everything for what they believe in, he can understand.

His understanding of her is what makes her attractive to him.

But as soon as he “understands” her, he gets stuck in his head again. Thinking about why she is different than any other girl he has met. It is the girl who is bold enough to speak to him, breaking him away from his thoughts, that gains his heart. She also has to be a little different from him, an opposite that attracts. She has to be the levity to his more morose qualities. Someone that can see the darker parts of the shinobi world and still be kind and smile is beautiful to him.

Perhaps she is more out-going, constantly checking in on people of their clan. Bringing people together or being the life party. Or maybe she’s generally shy. Finding it hard to communicate but does her best to push for what she believe in. Whatever type of personality she has, he would be drawn to the light she has within her. When she is around, Itachi’s thoughts don’t seem so dark. Her being, no matter how that manifests, would fill him with hope. To someone who feels uneven with the rest of the word, the type of person he would be attracted to the most is the one who evens him out.
