A Complex Mobility Task: 📫🦮
Since moving into a house, Mandana has started to develop a habit of barking loudly when mail or packages are dropped off. Rather than punish her for this natural behavior I’m giving her the tools to deal with it in a more productive manner.
1. She rings the bell to let me know the mail was delivered.
2. She sits and waits for me to open the door and give her commands instead of bolting outside.
3. She brings the packages inside and stacks them in a pile.
4. She opens the packages for me only when I ask and only until I ask her to stop so as not to damage anything.
5. She helps me pick up items and throw trash away.
It’s a bit of extra work for me right now but she really enjoys it and it’s going to be very helpful when the training is complete.

the wild flip side of Mello's derangement towards Gevanni is that, in a no-Kira universe, i personally think Near could be almost as bad (at least internally) towards L over Mello. similar situation in that i think L has... not so much interest in Mello generally, & absolutely no interest in him sexually. i also can't really picture Mello's interest in L being sexual in nature, but Near is sitting there watching the fawning and hero worship on the verge of popping a blood vessel about it. imo. imqho. also, L finds this fun, is vaguely charmed by Near's hatred and bloodlust toward him, and possibly occasionally exacerbates the tension on purpose when he's bored. Honestly the weirdest thing about all the "forged medic hands" hullabaloo in MTMTE was that Ratchet's hands (and Pharma's original hands that Ratchet stole) are just like. Human hands but made of robotic parts. Why in the fuck are "Swiss army knife hands" like Pharma's Luna-1 replacements not just the literal standard for forged medics?
Isn't it so much more efficient and cooler for robots to have tools built into their hands that they can transform instead of having to go through the extra step of holding tools in their hands? Wouldn't medic hands being able to transform into any tool lend a lot more credence to Functionist ideas of "forged medic hands are the best and if my hands stop working or I get replacements it won't be the same" that Ratchet spouts? Because like at least in that case there would be this interesting robotic worldbuilding in which the space alien robots debate about whether hands-that-hold-tools can be as effective as hands-that-turn-into-tools and the flavor of that would be so cool. And it would create this whole anti-Functionist debate that a pair of hands being "less optimal" doesn't mean that the work they do isn't still worthwhile (for example, just because one doctor has a lower mortality rate than another doctor doesn't mean that both doctors aren't having a positive contribution to the world).

Laser printing on fallen tree leaves produces sensors for medical and laboratory use
Fabrication of sensors by 3D printing combines speed, freedom of design, and the possibility of using waste as a substrate. Various results have been obtained in a circular economy mode, whereby residues usually thrown away are instead used as low-cost resources. A highly creative solution involving the printing of electrochemical sensors on fallen tree leaves has now been presented by a team of researchers in Brazil led by Bruno Janegitz, a professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and head of its Laboratory for Sensors, Nanomedicines, and Nanostructured Materials (LSNANO), and Thiago Paixão, a professor at the University of São Paulo (USP) and head of its Electronic Tongues and Chemical Sensors Lab (L2ESQ). The initiative was highlighted in an article published in the journal ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering.

the worst part is that medicare4all would still be bad. it would be 100% better than what we have now and still be bad. learning that medicare doesn't cover routine vision care or the shingles vaccine made me want to melt God with my eyes. this cat coming in tomorrow has not only Medicare but a supplemental plan and he's still going to self pay for his god-damned eye exam. imagine that there is a population of people who are at risk for degenerative eye conditions that should be caught early and most of them wear glasses anyway and need prescriptions updated and both insurance plans they have will not cover it and it's not like shingles is dangerous for seniors or something right??????? right???? covid19 was not the boomer remover the united states of america hates all of the poor.the elderly and medically frail in particular and that's why we need to let go of these stupid between-generation squabbles we need granddad in the class wa
