What are some reasons to lease medical equipment?
There are a lot of different reasons why it makes sense to lease medical equipment. Medical equipment, such as MRI machines, CT scanners, and even surgery systems can be expensive to acquire, so leasing provides health system with an effective way of deferring the acquisition cost and avoiding large upfront payments.

TOMORROW WE PAY RENT
We have enough for rent!! As long as there are no surprise bills over about $40, we should be good until unemployment, work, & other financial aid comes in. Thank you all so so much.
Ko-Fi
$510 out of $500 (102%)
We won't be able to send all the rent in tomorrow because it takes a few days for the bank transfer, but our landlord will waive the late fees as long as we give him a date when we can pay it all. Thank you again.
See the notes in this post detailing how you can get free art commissions if you sent us money!
Some more context under the cut:
Our household is 4 humans:
Us - physically disabled/chronically ill, haven't been able to work for over a year & a half, currently trying to find new work through staffing agencies & government services, but everything is likely going to be too slow to get any kind of paycheck or financial aid in time. Not to mention any work we do find is going to be less than ideal & just make our health worse, since we're still in the beginning of getting treatment. We're also trying to get on the waitlist for disability, but that's an even longer process & we're unlikely to qualify since we're married.
Our wife - former mechanic, with dual bachelor's in History/Business. She's been chronically ill for the last few months, something we're still trying to figure out. Her direct bosses were more than willing to work with her, but corporate management got impatient & basically fired her. She's looking for new work but the loss is hitting her hard. She's also applied for unemployment but the application hasn't been approved yet.
My brother - fresh out of high school, kicked out of the family household because he came out as bisexual. We took him in because there was literally no one else. He's not on the lease & needs to be as soon as he finds work, but that's another $250 none of us have. His living situation was… not ideal before, & he needs a lot of personal help to find work, something which we don't have enough time to do.
Partner/roommate - another partner & roommate who lives with us, also because her old family kicked her out (& also not on the lease). Also severely disabled, the only income she has is food stamps & blood plasma donations. We're also trying to get her help to reapply for disability; but as anyone knows, that's a long & difficult process. Her last attempt several years ago was denied; it's likely she needs a new application.
What happens if we can't pay rent ontime?
We're asking for more information from our landlord, but we're likely not going to be evicted first thing. Even if we do receive an eviction notice, WE HAVE RESOURCES. Unfortunately, they don't activate UNTIL we get that notice. Very helpful.
If worst comes to worst & we do get kicked out, it will likely be VERY BAD. None of us are "fully functioning/capable" individuals, a lot of us depend on specific equipment & setups in the apartment, & almost all of us are on a variety of very necessary medications. Everyone here has a mental health situation of some kind that will be made a lot worse by losing our apartment. We don't think it will come to that, but it's still something that makes everyone here super anxious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, for anyone that follows our mostly inactive after dark blog, be sure to look for a similar post there coming soon (tomorrow?). We have things we can offer & commissions we can do if folks are interested.

Diane Watson, 27 (USA 1987)
In 1987, Diane Watson went to Hedd Surgi-Center in Chicago for what she was told was a “safe and legal” abortion. She was pregnant with her third baby.
The abortion facility was owned by Henry Pimentel and his wife Ester Pimentel. Henry had an extensive record of malpractice and crime. He had paid over $1.8 million dollars in settled malpractice lawsuits, pleaded guilty to criminal fraud for false billings, was suspended from the Illinois state Medicaid program for acts that were “grossly inferior quality, in excess of patients’ needs, and harmful” and had been investigated by the Illinois attorney general and the Illinois departments of Public Aid, Professional Regulation and Health. For some reason, his medical licenses in both Illinois and Indiana still had not been revoked by the time Diane was killed.
The abortion facility did not have proper equipment or procedures for emergencies. Diane’s vitals were not being monitored by any of the staff members in the room. Abortionist Rudolph Moragne injected anesthesia carelessly and hit Diane’s vein. Diane went into seizures and her heart stopped. Nobody took the measures that could have saved Diane’s life.
Diane’s family sued and the case was settled for $500,000.
In 1988, the Illinois Department of Public Health moved to revoke the license of Hedd Surgi-center after finding expired medicine, mold on breathing tubes and rodent droppings in the operating room during repeated inspections dating back to 1986 (meaning that the facility was found to be unsafe long before Diane was killed).
The revocation case was settled in an agreement barring all surgical procedures (except, for some reason, abortions) at Hedd and forcing the owners to sell or lease the abortion facility within nine months. The facility was found to be too incompetent for legitimate healthcare, but was allowed to continue endangering women through abortion. Hedd Surgi-Center should have been shut down long before having the chance to kill Diane and her baby.
In addition to everything else, Diane’s death was excluded from abortion statistics because someone incorrectly filled out her death certificate. Not only was the fatal abortion not mentioned on it, but it incorrectly stated that she had not been pregnant within the last three months. This prevented public health officials from learning that her death was abortion-related even though her autopsy report attributed her death to "seizures due to anesthesia during an abortion," and made note of her pregnancy. She was denied even the inclusion of a statistic.

Lolita, the orca that was a star attraction in captivity at the Seaquarium, died Friday as plans to move her out of the Miami theme park were beginning to take shape.
She was believed to be 57 at the time of her death.
Now known as Toki, a name adopted by advocates urging her freedom, the killer whale had suffered health problems in her Seaquarium tank last fall before seeming to recover, according to recent interviews with her training staff.
In a social media post, the Seaquarium said Lolita developed a renal condition in recent days.
“Toki was an inspiration to all who had the fortune to hear her story, and especially to the Lummi nation that considered her family,” the statement said, referring to indigenous people in her natural waters off Washington state, where she was captured at age four.
A non-profit backed by Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, had been partnering with the Seaquarium to move Lolita to a sea pen off Washington state and was training her for the eventual move.
The non-profit, Friends of Toki, released the same statement as the Seaquarium, with some details about her failing health:
“Over the last two days, Toki started exhibiting serious signs of discomfort, which her full Miami Seaquarium and Friends of Toki medical team began treating immediately and aggressively.
Despite receiving the best possible medical care, she passed away Friday afternoon from what is believed to be a renal condition.”
Toki was a shortened version of Tokitae, the name given the orca by indigenous people in Washington state, who have for years advocated to return the mammal to her native waters.
Friends of Toki was in talks with tribes in Washington to assist with the plan to transfer Lolita to the pen, where she would continue being fed and given medical care but with far more room to swim amid natural waters with sea life traveling in and out of the netting.
Some of her handlers in Miami planned to move to Washington to remain working with Lolita after the relocation in an ongoing care operation funded by Friends of Toki, Charles Vinick, the group’s director, said in a recent interview.
“All who want to, we’d want to move with her,” he said. “They’re the people she trusts.”
Friends of Toki had paid to upgrade the chilling equipment in Lolita’s Seaquarium tank.
They hired a trainer, veterinarian and others to help supervise her care and training.
That included introducing the car-sized sling that was planned to hoist her out of the tank and onto a transport truck for a cross-country flight to Washington for a new life in a sea pen.
‘Heartbroken’
“I am heartbroken that Toki has left us,” Irsay said in a statement. “I was honored to be part of the team working to return her to her indigenous home, and I take solace in knowing we significantly improved her living conditions this past year.”
The relocation plan was mostly aspirational, since the Irsay group hadn’t secured the federal permits or water rights needed to create a sea pen for the 7,000-pound mammal.
But it was the most definitive effort yet to move Lolita from a tank that had been flagged by federal animal inspectors and local authorities as needing a major overhaul to continue housing Lolita.
While the Seaquarium continues holding dolphin performances, the Lolita shows ended in 2021 as the condition of the tank drew scrutiny from the United States Department of Agriculture and Miami-Dade’s Unsafe Structures Division.
When the Dolphin Company purchased the Seaquarium operations in 2022, including the site lease for the county-owned waterfront that houses the park, it announced Lolita would never return to public performing.
Animal-rights activists condemned the Seaquarium over the years for confining the orca in a tank small enough that it took just seconds to swim from end to end.
“Kind people begged the Miami Seaquarium to end Lolita’s hellish life in a concrete cell and release her to a seaside sanctuary, where she could dive deep, feel the ocean’s currents, and even be reunited with the orca believed to be her mother,” PETA, an anti-captivity group, said in a statement.
“But plans to move her to a seaside sanctuary came too late.”
The relocation plan had critics, too. Some former trainers of Lolita formed Truth4Toki and urged the Seaquarium to either keep the orca in place or move her to a more modernized tank at Sea World in Orlando.
After past battles with illness, the group said Lolita “is not a candidate for release.”
Tom Reidarson, a former SeaWorld veterinarian hired by Friends of Toki to work with her in Miami, said in a recent interview that he was concerned Lolita would die last fall after a serious bout with pneumonia.
“It became pretty dire,” he told the Miami Herald on July 8.
Though she remained on antibiotics, Reidarson said the orca’s lung problems appeared to have resolved well.
“She’s actually really healthy right now,” he said.
In its statement, the Seaquarium described liver issues with Lolita, who was believed to be four when captured in Puget Sound and roughly 57 in 2023.
“Over the last two days, Toki started exhibiting serious signs of discomfort,” the Seaquarium said on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.
“Despite receiving the best possible medical care, she passed away Friday afternoon from what’s believed to be a renal condition.”
Miami-Dade’s mayor, Daniella Levine Cava, advocated for moving Lolita as part of the county’s talks with the Dolphin Company taking over the lease.
The company signed an agreement to move the orca once there was a safe and healthy option for her to leave the Seaquarium.
“Our collective wish was to see Toki in her native waters and we are heartbroken to learn of this sudden loss,” Levine Cava said in a statement.
“Alongside the many Miamians who grew up visiting her, the generations of activists around the world that were inspired by her story, and the caretakers who remained dedicated to her health until the very end — today we say our final goodbye to our beloved Toki.”
This story was originally published on August 18, 2023.

Aberdeen Nursing Home North Carolina
Aberdeen Nursing Home, located in North Carolina, began its days as The Chalfonte Hotel in 1927. During WWII, the hotel was leased to a group of army officers and their families. Following the war, the once-grand hotel became a popular spot for prostitution and drug deals. In 1951, the building was converted to an Old Folks’ Home. The Home changed hands several times before being abandoned.
Today, the crumbling walls are covered in graffiti. Medical equipment, left behind by the former owners, stand as an eerie reminder of what the building once was. Moans of former patients echo through the hallways, fresh blood stains appear from nowhere, apparitions show up in photos, and signs read different messages on different days without being touched. All who visit will agree – some of the patients who died there never really left.

[ CHAINS ] riddick wakes up with his arms chained above his head and bertha is standing in front of him, waiting for him to wake up. he looks good bound and i am simple
The view is a good one, Bertha has to admit that. A very good one. She doesn't bother waking the bioweapon up, opting to wait for him to wake on his own. It gives her more time to admire the view and think about what it is she wants to do with him.
Umbrella is exceptionally good at what they do both in their research and development and with how they motivate their staff. Of course they saw the problem these two have been causing together- saw how throwing bioweapons and the USS at them failed to do more but lose them assets- and decided not to continue to overwhelm and overpower. Sometimes the best thing to do is divide and conquer.
Coming to the rescue? The voice from the announcement speakers is a familiar one- the same mission control prick that continued to deny her team extraction back in Raccoon City. You two have been performing admirably. Umbrella is impressed. He said the same thing before setting the Wolfpack after Kennedy. We're willing to overlook your past indiscretions. You recognize the equipment in the room; use it and we'll reinstate you. We're rebuilding Alpha team and could use a medic of your talents.
Bertha recognizes the tools in the room. Some of her favorites; pliers, cattle prod, scalpel, screw driver, hand torch and- oh. Is that a brand? There was a time Bertha would have been happy to carry such a mark on her body. She's always been a sucker for permanent declarations like that. And to top it all off: a large syringe gun ready with a control parasite, similar to the one Bertha herself used on the Nemesis. Similar to the one she's toyed with using on Riddick before. She knows this one won't work in her favor; likely already programmed to follow Umbrella directives.
Optimistically this is an honest offer. Have her fun hurting Riddick- punishment for his daring to attack his masters- and then jam the parasite into his brain. Watch it lease him to the company. Even if he remembers the torture, he wouldn't be able to raise a hand in revenge against her. Then she can go back to the life she's most comfortable in; following orders and supporting her team, far from the unstructured boredom that her life is when she doesn't have a goal to stride towards. The kind of outcome she worked so hard to earn in Raccoon.
Umbrella has lied to her before. More likely, she tortures Riddick for them and then injects him, and then his first order is her death. Whether or not they make him remember her betrayal or the taste of freedom he had before their control does not change Bertha's fate in that scenario. Or maybe his orders are less fatal. Umbrella could use more furies. If Bertha does not survive the process they don't lose too much, and if she does they always have more parasites to insure their weapons do as instructed.
But if she releases him...?
Do not waste our time, Schneider. You know what to do.
As much a death sentence as every other outcome. She doesn't doubt that the hallways- empty a moment ago as she made her way to this room- are full of operatives happy to pull the trigger on this pair of traitors. Hell. There might already be a parasite swimming in Riddick's skull in case of Bertha deciding not to play along. She has no way of knowing for sure.
So her choices are do as Umbrella wants and possibly survive, possibly have everything she wants handed to her on a silver platter. Or defy them and die.
The medic takes a deep breath and lets it out through her teeth. She's frowning behind her mask. No point in wasting perfectly good tools. She takes her time looking them over before selecting the pliers and hand torch to put into the pouch of her apron. Then the cattle prod is fastened to her belt of tools. Then she mentally kicks herself to making stupid life choices and lets Riddick down.
"Too bad I couldn't have you like this in better circumstances. We could have both enjoyed this."

Taking Flight
Just a bit of sliver-of-life nonsense that happened after a recent re-read of With a Side of Rust by @blueskyscribe (which I highly recommend, by the way).
---
“What have you been doing to these?” Knock Out shook his head in exasperation. He knew he was excellent at his job – he wouldn’t have survived as Megatron’s CMO if he weren’t – but the task in front of him was proving more challenging than anticipated. Still, he wasn’t ready to admit defeat yet.
“Using them,” Glitch said infuriatingly calmly. “General wear and tear mounts up over the centuries.”
“Especially if you don’t bother with proper maintenance.” Knock Out could admit to himself that that was a little unfair on his young colleague. The Autobot “field-tech” and visitor from another universe took as good care of almost all her equipment as anyone in their shared profession, better than some, but her most important tools – her hands – were scratched and scuffed perhaps beyond even his considerable ability to restore to prime condition. The damage was purely cosmetic; whether she were working on a patient or flying a ship, her hands moved as fluidly as any forged medic’s. But they were still painful to look at, and Knock Out had offered to do something about them during a lull in the Autobots’ (and Predacons’) battle with Unicron, an offer she had accepted. Following through on that seemed to be the Autobot thing to do, so he was dutifully doing it.
As he moved on to another scratch in her bronze plating, it struck him that she was almost literally putting her livelihood – and, in a sense, her life – in his hands. A medic’s career was often dependent on their manual dexterity; the best equipment in the universe was useless if its operator couldn’t control it properly. Being a field-tech clearly meant a great deal to Glitch, and yet she had entrusted the key tools of her trade to a former enemy who had tortured and tried to kill her, harmed or threatened a number of her friends, and been quite open about his selfish reasons for changing sides. Before he knew it, he was asking her, “Why are you letting me do this?”
She studied him for a long, unsettling moment, giving the distinct impression she was trying to figure out exactly what he meant by his question, then waved her free hand dismissively, channelling her inner Ratchet (his universe’s Ratchet, at least). “Per-lease. We’ve been inside each other’s heads. I know you’ve managed to hang on to some integrity, which is pretty impressive in the circumstances. And I can look after myself.” Despite appearances, Knock Out thought. Strange though it seemed to him, the young ‘bot had “come online” many centuries after the end of her reality’s last major Autobot-Decepticon war. Scars notwithstanding, she seemed to be a civilian to the tips of her delicate-looking fingers and upswept winglets (more like a car’s door-wings than those of her fellow two-wheelers from Knock Out’s home universe). But the ex-‘Con medic had treated too many Vehicons damaged by her inbuilt electromagnets and other medical tools to believe that.
Even before, as he wished she hadn’t reminded him, he had used a cortical psychic patch – on Lord Megatron’s orders – to gain access to her memories, and seen the Cybertron where she had grown up – a war-damaged world always prepared for the next conflict. And not much more before she somehow reversed the process, gaining access to his memories – including some he didn’t like to acknowledge, let alone share. He’d tried not to flinch as she alluded to that particular episode, but her sharp eyes – adapted for scouting – missed very little. And she seemed to have about as much control over her voicebox. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that, should I?”
“Not really, no,” Knock Out agreed. “But,” the newspark’s honesty seemed to be contagious, “it’s about time one of us mentioned the – rhinoceros in the room, is that the phrase?”
“Elephant,” she corrected him automatically. “No idea why. Elephants are bigger, but generally less aggressive, especially when unprovoked. Or so I gather. It’s often said that they never forget; I’ll have to look up whether that’s ever been verified.” Belatedly, she registered Knock Out’s be-quiet-and-let-me-concentrate expression, and obeyed it. He might not have known her for very long, but he knew a budding monologue when he heard it, and preferred not to have to listen to one when he was trying to work. Especially one about organic lifeforms, of which he had never been very fond.
But as it turned out, he couldn’t stay silent, either. “Where did these come from?” He indicated one of a number of shallow scratches on her left palm and fingers, distinguished by an unusual V-shaped depth profile both end-to-end and side-to-side, according to the scanner he was using to monitor the ultrafine procedure. (His eyes were good, but not quite that good.)
“Birds,” was her initial, baffling answer. His blank expression must have prompted her to explain further. “The ones that nest in or visit the tree that grows in our base in Detroit. Prowl used to feed them, and now it’s my job – or it was.” Concern and homesickness flickered across her face, very briefly. She must be at least as aware as he was that no Autobot worth their brand would let any being go hungry if they could help it, even an organic. “A few trust me enough to eat out of my servo, which is – quite something.” A soft smile lit up her whole face. “And well worth a few scratches. Last winter, one of them turned up with a broken wing. I don’t know how it happened, or how far he had to walk, but he came to me for help, so of course I took care of him.”
“Put him out of his misery?” Knock Out regretted his automatic, callous reaction even before the expected expression of shock and horror formed on Glitch’s features. He was dealing with an Autobot, not a Decepticon. “No! Set the fracture and fed and housed him until he recovered, of course. Which was quite a circuit-shredding experience at first. Bird bones are strong, but they’re hollow, to reduce the mass the wings have to lift, so they feel fragile. Especially if you’re my size, let alone yours.” Glitch was tiny for a Cybertronian who wasn’t a Mini-Con, not much more than half Knock Out’s height and skinny with it. “The whole time I was splinting his wing, I was terrified I was going to do more harm than good. Managed it, though.” That soft smile was back. “When he was able to fly again – you know that feeling when you know a patient’s going to make it?” He did, very well; there had been times when it was one of the few things that kept him going. “Like that, but more so.”
“I’ll take your word for it.” Knock Out returned his attention to the task at hand – pun not intended. Less than a minute later, his tools must have found a sensor cluster by accident, because she burst out laughing, her winglets fluttering as though she herself were a bird. Some delicate but dangerous creature, whose elegant plumage and enchanting song distracted others from her sharp beak and sharper claws. (Come to think of it, he hadn’t known her winglets could move like that – they were usually folded as flat as possible against her back in the field, and held stiffly behind her shoulders the rest of the time, ready to form the sides of her vehicle mode at a moment’s notice.) “That tickles!”
“Sorry.” The word felt oddly rusty in his voicebox. Though he’d mollified plenty of disgruntled superiors in his time as a Decepticon, straightforward apologies weren’t his usual method. Glitch really was rubbing off on him already.
“It’s fine. I wasn’t prepared, that’s all.” She brought herself under control, winglets returning to their normal position. It was quite impressive, the way she could just switch off her naturally expressive body language like that. Impressive, and a little worrying. “To return to the subject of birds – there are a few breeding pairs that nest in Prowl’s tree. The same ones, year after year, he thinks.” The present tense perplexed Knock Out for a second. Wasn’t Prowl the one who sacrificed himself to reconstruct a shattered Allspark? Then he remembered she had mentioned that his ghost put in occasional appearances still. (Was that possible in his universe, and were there limits on who could come back? Better not drive down that road.) “One batch of fledglings made their first flights the day before I arrived in this reality. I was on Cybertron, but Bee sent me a vid. Would you like to see?”
Usually, Knock Out’s automatic, instant response would have been, “no.” While he admired Earth’s automobiles (some of them, at any rate), the same could not be said for its inhabitants. He’d barely tolerated humans even before Breakdown’s… encounter… with MECH, and at least with them one could hold a semblance of an intelligent conversation. Other organics… eesh. But while he’d weathered Megatron’s wrath, Starscream’s rudeness and Soundwave’s sheer creepiness perfectly well for aeons, as it turned out, he was not immune to wide dark-blue eyes and an open, earnest expression. (More open than even most Autobots’ in Knock Out’s universe, let alone any Decepticon’s. Glitch’s world had been shaped by war, but she hadn’t lived and vented it for anywhere near as long as any other Cybertronian he knew, and, Primus, it showed.) Besides, he’d done as much as he could in one session for her left hand, and could use a break. “All right.”
Her delighted grin shone like a tiny sun as she unfolded a miniature datapad concealed in her right arm (honestly, how many mods did one ‘bot need?) and called up the file she wanted, projecting the vid above the small screen so that Knock Out could see it more easily. Judging by the quality, it had been taken directly from someone’s visual cache, probably “Bee’s”. (The other universe’s Bumblebee, most likely. It didn’t escape Knock Out’s notice that Glitch had a band of yellow paint on her right wrist, interrupted by a black stripe, which looked to have been worn away, repainted and damaged again in the previous few months.)
The focus of the recording was a tree that seemed to have grown through both the floor and the roof of an Autobot-scaled building, and specifically a branch on which perched a family of birds Knock Out didn’t care to identify – two adults, their colour schemes indicating that they were of different genders (he’d somehow managed to learn that much), and a motley assortment of scrawny little ones of the same species, their feathery plating barely complete. The excited but otherwise unintelligible chatter that had been in the background faded away as first the caregiver birds demonstrated the takeoff, flight and landing procedures they wanted to teach their fledglings, and then, one by one, the bitlets – birdlets? – tried to copy them. A few managed it straight away; others couldn’t quite stay airborne at first, and by the sounds of it at least one ‘bot had to be prevented from attempting to help them. But before long, all the tiny aerials were swooping around as though they’d been doing it all their short, perilous lives, much to the delight of the watching Autobots, including the one next to Knock Out, cooing over the display like an overgrown pigeon. (He could identify that species, if only because one couldn’t escape it on much of Earth.)
Not that he really minded, he realised. A few times, before the war, he’d seen newly sparked fliers being taught such basic techniques by their mentors, and, diehard grounder though he was, the sight had never failed to fill him with hope for the future, however short-lived. It still had the same effect, even aeons later, on a wrecked planet that could only create new lives because of a devastating sacrifice, watching another world’s non-sapient fauna teaching their young ones. Life, robotic or organic, would always persist, no matter what.
“Breakdown would have liked to see that,” he heard himself comment as the recording finished. He wasn’t sure why he’d let that slip, but he couldn’t take the words back. And he needed to talk to someone about his late partner at some time; who better than someone who already knew what had happened to him (up to a point), who understood even a little of what it was like to lose a partner, and who had been trained to be discreet? (He was aware she’d told the other Autobots about Breakdown’s… ending, and found he couldn’t be too angry with her for that. Life might be easier if they knew, and he didn’t want to discuss it himself.) “He may have acted the brute, but he could be surprisingly gentle with people and things that didn’t pose a threat.”
“So I gather,” Glitch said, a comfortable level of sympathy colouring her voice. She paused for a moment, then asked, “Do all Decepticons wear masks, or is it just you two?” Judging by the flash of annoyance in her eyes, that had just slipped out, too, but she didn’t try to retract the question.
“It wasn’t exactly a mask,” he corrected her. “He did love to fight, but – it wasn’t the only thing he loved.” It still hurt too much to dive too deeply into that topic, he discovered, so he redirected the conversation a little. “And what do you mean, you two?”
“Takes one to know one,” she answered with a sly smile. “Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think you’re what humans at this point in time call a precious cinnamon roll – don’t ask me why – under everything else, but there’s more to you than meets the optic. And you don’t have to take the mask off right away, but – you don’t have to keep wearing it all the time, either, not any more.”
Takes one to know one? “But… you’re an Autobot.” A stupid response, but his brain module was still short-circuiting as he tried to figure out why an Autobot would have to pretend to be anything they weren’t. They were supposed to be all about honour and honesty and talking about one’s feelings – weren’t they? (He filed the rest of her reply away to be parsed later. One thing at a time.)
“I’m also what’s known on Earth as “autistic”.” He’d heard the term before, never in any helpful context. She didn’t provide much context, either. “I don’t really have all the right words to describe it, but the short version is that my processor’s wired differently from those of most ‘bots. Not better or worse – just different. Sometimes too different to allow me to fit in in the “great Autobot machine”.” She rolled her eyes at that last phrase, almost concealing a flare of pain. Knock Out wondered idly who had coined it, and whether they were still available for dissection. Or vivisection. He didn’t really mind one way or the other. “I learned centuries ago to wear just enough of a mask that I could pass for nearly normal, but that comes with its own problems. Mostly the effort it takes to keep up the illusion of sanity. If I’d stayed on my Cybertron much longer – it wouldn’t’ve ended well. Being posted to Earth, though, gave me a chance to spread my winglets a bit.” She suited her actions to her words, winglets fanning out to their fullest extent. “I recommend.”
“I’ll bear that in mind,” he assured her. “But in the meantime, I still need to fix up that other hand of yours.” She held it out, and remained mercifully silent as he worked. She’d given him a lot to think about, but their conversation had made one thing clear. Grounders though they were, like the fledgling birds, they had both taken flight in recent months or years – she to Earth, he to the Autobots – and both were, or would be, all the better for doing so.

Seven Best Pancreas Transplant Surgery Hospitals in India
We might not have heard the name of ‘pancreas transplant’ as often as we have heard ‘liver transplant’ during our lives. The reason being that pancreas is an extremely sturdy organ and usually helps with the maintenance of a lot of essential processes in the body. Pancreas transplant surgery is carried out in many hospitals, and some of the best ones where you can attempt to get the process done are discussed below.
Diabetes Type 1 is also known to be an autoimmune condition where your body’s immune cells destroy the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. It begins mainly in childhood. Juvenile diabetes or diabetes Type 1 can destroy most of the body’s functions if not controlled appropriately.
When this disease stops responding to insulin replacement, pancreas transplant is the only option by which the patient can be gifted a new lease of life. It is still one of the costliest transplant processes in the country and can cost you somewhere from two to twenty lakhs. The patient with diabetes Type 1 condition can survive healthily only when the pancreas begins to function again.
Do you have someone who needs to know more about pancreatic transplants. Or, is it that you are trying to search for some information yourself, for your kid or your loved ones? Let us then get into knowing which can be the best hospitals for pancreas transplant in India.
Foremost pancreatic transplant hospitals in India
Some of the most advanced centres for undertaking the pancreas transplant surgery for your child or your loved ones are listed below.
1. Apollo Hospitals, Chennai
It is one of the best pancreatic transplant hospitals in India. The hospital is completely equipped to carry out pancreatic transplantation. The patient’s pancreas is not removed, but the donor’s pancreas is added in the process. Simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation, pancreas after kidney transplant and pancreas transplant alone are a few types of pancreatic transplantation processes.
The centre facilitates all three forms of pancreatic transplantation processes. If a transplant is carried out in a ten year old patient, there is 80% chance that the patient would be alive till 25 years of age after a simultaneous kidney, pancreas transplant.
2. IKD, Ahmedabad
Institute of Kidney Disease & Research Centre (IKDRC) is one such organization in the country which is capable of performing the pancreatic transplant process in young diabetic patients.
The surgery requires some of the best hands and some of the best procedural arrangements which are entirely standardized with the hospital. Even post-procedural complication handling is one area which is tackled efficiently here.
The cost of doing the surgery here can cost you somewhere around 10-20 lakh INR.
Address: Civil Hospital Campus, Asarwa, Ahmedabad 380016, Gujarat India.
3. PGIMER Chandigarh
PGIMER Chandigarh is also renowned for being capable of handling pancreatic transplantation surgery. The modern diagnostic equipment, the surgery-related facilities, good medical expertise are few of the specialities which help in reviving patients from pancreatic ailments.
PGIMER can effectively handle the complicated process of review, regulation, pre & post-surgery care.
Address: Madhya Marg, Sector 12, Chandigarh, 160012.
4. Fortis, Mulund, Mumbai
Fortis Group is also effectively helping patients undergo pancreatic transplantations. Modern amenities required to perform this kind of complex transplant process is now available with the hospital. The patients are suitably triaged, and appropriate diagnostic tests are run. For those patients who have a no response curve to insulin often can live if their pancreas is transplanted.
Sometimes the whole pancreas is transplanted from a dead body, and on other times, a part of the pancreas is grafted from a living donor. It is critical to regulate and frequently monitor the patient’s condition, and they need to be on regular drugs to prevent pancreatic transplant rejection.
5. Gleneagles Global HospitalsChennai
This hospital is capable of handling appropriate pancreatic transplant procedure which is still in its nascent stage in India. Not many have undergone this procedure yet, and not many are opting for it due to economic and social constraints.
However, this is an excellent organization to go with if you are planning a pancreatic transplant for someone in your family.

They possess not only the expertise but also the required skills and appropriate procedural requirements for conducting the transplantations.
The organization has done successful pancreatic transplants in the recent past already.
So here is a list of all the best pancreatic transplantation hospitals where standard medical care is possible before and after the process.

Bard's Fantasy Medical C-Drama
This is an edited AI story that grew from a Love Between Fairy And Devil prompt. The year is 2077. The world is a very different place than it was just a few decades ago. Climate change has ravaged the planet, and many cities have been abandoned due to rising sea levels. In the midst of this chaos, a new type of hospital has emerged: the glutinous hospital.
Glutinous hospitals are not like traditional hospitals. They are not equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, and they do not have a staff of highly trained doctors and nurses. Instead, glutinous hospitals are staffed by a group of unlikely heroes: spirits of tangyuan.
Tangyuan are small, round, and sweet dumplings made from glutinous rice flour. They are also very kind and compassionate. They have a natural ability to heal the sick and injured, and they are always willing to help those in need.
One day, a young woman named Xiao Yu (originally Xiaolanhua) arrives at a glutinous hospital. She is suffering from a terminal illness, and she has been given only a few months to live. Xiao Yu is desperate for a cure, and she is willing to try anything.
The tangyuan at the glutinous hospital are able to heal Xiao Yu's illness. They give her a new lease on life, and they help her to find her true purpose in the world. Xiao Yu eventually becomes a doctor at the glutinous hospital, and she dedicates her life to helping others.
However, there is a dark side to this convalescent planet retaken by fantasy. The tangyuan are not the only ones who can heal the sick and injured. There are also a group of creatures known as the colorful qilins who have the same ability. They look like horses with the head of a dragon, the body of a deer, and the tail of an ox and are often seen as symbols of hope and redemption. In reality, though, the colorful qilins use their powers to harm and destroy.
One day, a group of colorful qilins attack the glutinous hospital. They kill many of the tangyuan, and they take Xiao Yu prisoner. Xiao Yu is forced to work for the colorful qilins, and she is used to heal their injured soldiers.
Xiao Yu is horrified by what she is forced to do, but she knows that she must obey the colorful qilins if she wants to stay alive. She also knows that she must find a way to escape and to stop the colorful qilins from hurting anyone else.
Xiao Yu eventually escapes from the colorful qilins, and she returns to the glutinous hospital. She helps the tangyuan to rebuild the hospital, and she vows to never let the colorful qilins hurt anyone again.
However, Xiao Yu is also haunted by the memories of the things she has seen and done while working for the colorful qilins. Despite all of this, she never gives up hope and remains determined to make a difference.
But another wrench has been thrown into the works. The tangyuan are not as kind and compassionate as they seem. They are actually quite selfish and manipulative, and they use Xiao Yu for their own purposes.
Xiao Yu eventually realizes this, and she is heartbroken. She realizes that she has been lied to and used, and she doesn't know who to trust anymore.
Xiao Yu eventually leaves the glutinous hospital, and she sets out on her own. She doesn't know where she's going or what she's going to do, but she knows that she can't stay there any longer. She travels the world while she figures out her future, helping those in need and fighting for what she believes in. In the seemingly never-ending journey, she becomes a symbol of hope and inspiration for others.
Xiao Yu's character trajectory is a long and difficult one. She is faced with many challenges, and she often feels lost and alone. However, she never gives up hope. She knows that she is strong and capable, and she is determined to find her own way in the world.
Her story is a story about the power of the human spirit. It is also a story about the dangers of false hope and the importance of finding your own way in the world. It shows that even the most seemingly benevolent creatures can have dark secrets, and that even the most seemingly innocent people can be corrupted by power. In it, one witnesses the dangers of idealism and the importance of critical thinking.

Types of Insurance Coverage Musical Instrument Stores Need
Any form of musical equipment, be it a string instrument or a woodwind, is admired and accepted by both amateur music players as well as experienced professional musicians. There is no denying that purchasing musical gear has always been an expensive proposition. And especially when you start a music store, it goes without saying that you have to invest a hefty amount on rent, deposit, lease, interior decoration, expensive instruments, accessories, and other utilities.
Since you have infused a sizeable capital to set up your store, the next vital step you should take is to safeguard it with the necessary protection to remain financially secure in the occurrence of a mishap. In this context, Musical Instruments Insurance is the best option to ensure the financial security of your equipment and provide adequate coverage so that you don’t have to bear any financial loss.
Below are some vital coverage options a store owner should never miss out:
General Liability Insurance – Operating a business without having necessary insurance is extremely risky. You never know when and how you can get into legal complications and end up with enormous financial hazards. Having opted for General Liability Insurance, you don’t need to worry a bit as you get protected with sufficient coverage.
Some risks that General Liability Insurance covers are:
• Bodily Injury • Personal Property Damage • Medical Expenses • Administrative Cost • Legal Charges
Like other businesses, immense risks are involved in music stores as well. If any of your clients fall on the wet floor of your store and gets injured, or his personal property gets damaged, the person can sue you and demand compensation for medical reasons. In such a situation, General Liability Insurance not only protects you from legal harassment but also safeguards you from financial disaster.
Commercial Property Insurance – You must have invested a hefty amount in the inventory to stock a wide range of musical equipment and accessories at your store. As a business owner, firstly, you should protect your business premises and all belongings so that, if any mishap occurs, you can rest assured about financial security.
If there is a theft at your business premises or your equipment gets damaged by fire, storm, or any other natural calamity, you are financially secure if you have opted for Commercial Liability Insurance.
Worker’s Compensation Insurance – If any of your workers gets injured during working hours, you might face legal consequences leading to a massive financial disaster. The concerned person can file legal charges against you with compensation for medical expenses. In this scenario, Worker’s Compensation Insurance is the most suitable coverage that safeguards you from unnecessary legal harassment and financial losses.
Product Liability Insurance – If a client gets injured by your sold instrument or their personal property gets damaged, the person can sue you and demand a hefty charge for medical expenses. For that reason, Product Liability Insurance is essential for business owners selling products.
Commercial Umbrella Insurance – As a business owner, you should always be ready with your backup plan. Though General Liability Insurance provides adequate coverage, if you encounter an adverse situation when the limit of the liability insurance gets exhausted, Commercial Liability Insurance provides extra coverage for better protection.
Why Is Musical Insurance the Best Suitable Component For your Instrument?
When you spend a significant amount on any expensive instrument, there is no denying you have to take special care to keep your equipment in playing condition for years. Regular cleaning and routine maintenance are the keys to keeping musical gear protected from dust, dirt, or humidity. However, financial protection is required to safeguard your equipment for a prolonged time.
Whether you are at home or traveling for a music event, the instrument can get broken, stolen, or accidentally damaged. Your homeowner insurance will not cover the loss if the mishap happens out of your insured premises or due to natural calamities like floods and earthquakes. In such scenarios, only Musical Instruments Insurance assures you about adequate coverage and safeguards you from unavoidable losses.
Conclusion
Musical equipment requires extreme care and routine maintenance to keep it in excellent playing condition for decades. In addition, to get adequate coverage, musicians should opt for Musical Instruments Insurance and be blessed with financial security throughout their life.

I know I've been posting more about politics lately, and it's caused me to lose a chunk of followers.
But I'm a queer person with a degree in political science and its an election year. I'm old friends with several of my city council members. I've been to trainings on how to run elections. I spent my college years working for nonprofits (and being the world's worst canvasser). I'm close with more than one person who works for unions, and I have family members who work for government agencies.
I think about politics in a very pragmatic "I know how the sausage is made" kind of way. We're in a vice press, and there's only one way to release the pressure.
The revolution ain't coming. There is no one to save us but us.
So yeah, I'm going to be pissed if your answer is "let them tighten the vice -- there's no way out of the vice, it doesn't matter if they loosen or tighten it."
There's a difference, and anyone telling you otherwise is likely a psyop or someone who fell for a psyop. This literally happened before, and it's happening again.
Stop falling for it.

Reasons for Outsourcing PCB Assembly Services
These days, more firms are seeing the advantages of outsourcing PCB assembly services rather than doing it themselves. OEMs are happier and more productive when they let an electronics contractor contribute their knowledge.
What is the key to a successful collaboration? Actually, there is a bunch. An astute PCB partner can assess your circumstances and provide the following benefits:
Reasons for Outsourcing PCB Assembly Services
There are many topics to discuss when it comes to PCB assembly. The most crucial factors to consider while considering assembly services are broken down here.
Let's begin.
Reduced Investment
Quality inspection and surface mount equipment require a significant upfront expenditure. The expenses of obtaining certification to produce printed circuit boards (PCBs) for use in medical and aeronautical applications are also comparable. Additionally, keep in mind that hiring new staff will undoubtedly cost you money.
●Year-round, permanent pay ●Health coverage ●Packages for retirement
You don't have to worry about any of that when you outsource prototype PCB manufacturing. Focus primarily on your current staff and keep your business small.
Facility Savings
Leasing or renting warehouse space can be costly, especially if you also have to pay property taxes. Your electronics provider can, therefore, keep your parts on hand. Finding room for all that inventory is optional. Until the parts are sent, your PCB maker will pay the cost. You may now spend money on R&D, marketing, and other areas of your facility because of these cost savings.
Cost-Effectiveness
A well-established infrastructure and a practised operation should already be in place at your electronic manufacturing services provider. Why try to make your own for years?
An expert in PCB manufacture will already be aware of the inventory control elements that influence cost-effectiveness, including:
●Short life cycles of parts ●Changes in price ●Design modifications
Instead of attempting to streamline the process yourself, it is simpler to use skilled and well-run circuit board assembly services, mainly if you are a startup with little funding.
Rare Expertise
The experts will always perform it more effectively. The contractor's primary concentration is on PCB assembly services. They have the most in-depth knowledge of the sector and are already ahead of you in considering problems you were unaware of:
●Lead times ●Design errors ●Materials for conflicts ●Safety from within
Imagine how relieved you would be if a PCB contractor found a design flaw in your project before it was released to the market. Now, picture that partner offering to assist you in redesigning or refitting a board so that you may manufacture that product more effectively. When PCB assembly is outsourced, this actually occurs frequently!
Conclusion
The best option is to outsource PCB assembly services if you have a large staff with nothing better to do and much money to spend on new machines, which is unlikely.
