Since you guys liked my first k2 analysis so much, I've decided to make a second one and mainly focus on things that I mentioned in the last paragraph there: how I see their romantic relationship. This is probably going to be more headcanons than analysis but we'll see lol (it ended up not)
Tumblr media
As I mentioned before, I don't really see k2 having some sort of special feelings for each other when they're young. Meanwhile it can kinda work with Kenny, it's probably won't work with Kyle: Kyle already has two strong sources of emotions. His bond with Stan and his sort of rivalry with Cartman clearly means more to him. And to get myself more clear: No, I do not erase everything I said in the previous post about their interactions, they're still very sweet and in my personal opinion important. But if we analyse Kyle's relationships with others and give everyone some sort of a status, Stan would be "best friend", Cartman would be "frienemy" (it's not so obvious when I say it like this but we all should agree that Kyle cares a lot about the shit Cartman says, not necessarily in a good way but it's still a huge source of emotions for him). And Kenny, as I believe, would be just "friend". Not much to add.
But if we're looking a little bit further...Time skip for a few years. Or not a few. High-school maybe?? Or adults?? Whatever you prefer more
From this part it'll be mostly headcanons because different people can see the future relationship of the main four differently. I'll talk about my personal point of view here (I think it's the most popular one in the fandom anyways)
So this is where Kyle's previous sources of strong emotions are kind of fading away. With Stan...I'm almost sure that no one is going to argue with me for this. Stan, as a depressed individual, would probably at some point of his adulthood change his relationships with people. He'd cut contact with some and just sort of change his attitude to other. And although I believe Stan and Kyle would still be friends (close friends??) when they grow up...There's not going to be the "bond" as strong as it was before. This is debatable, but even if you don't agree with my statement: One source of strong emotions is definitely not enough.
With Cartman my point of view is much easier to explain: they're not kids anymore. I believe their rivalry won't dissappear, but. They're not kids and not gonna fight 24/7. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this properly, but I think it's just not gonna take all their time. So yeah. It's not enough
AND THAT'S WHERE WE FINALLY GO BACK TO K2. THANK GOD.
Kyle feels a bit more lonely. So he hangs out with Kenny, who pretty much feels the same. They spend time together, talk a lot, remember some things...And realize how similar they are to each other (this part is also analysis btw, I didn't come up with it from nothing). They realize that back then they both were trying to act kind to people around them, but no one seemed to appreciate it as much as they wanted. They were doing it differently and was getting treated differently, but in the end both ended up being lonely without much people around. You. You can feel my thought here. right
They realize how similar they feel, so they decide to try to help each other. Just make some company. It won't hurt, right?
It didn't. I see them a bit fast burn... They start to appreciate each other's company more. And more. They hang out in a lot of different places. Anywhere you can get your old buddy: like seeing some cool movies with him, taking him to restaurants so you can make sure he eats well, sometimes going to his ol' house with him to help his sister...At some point Kenny starts calling it "dates", and Kyle is extremely flustered about this.
Kyle falls first, but Kenny confesses first: so their relationship-thing happens not so long after that.
And yep. This is what I wanted to share from now. I really hope someone reads all that xD
Love k2, appreciate k2, enjoy k2, share k2. They're very lovable little guys!
Tumblr media
(If this gets 100 likes AGAIN I will write k2 headcanons. Go)

Oh my god ok so if y’all know me and neen you know that not only are we Internet Married and also constantly in Wife Jail, BUT!!!
We also both have cat ocs in one of our respective aus.
So I had an intrusive Thot about Curb from (rem)ember meeting Moose from the OrangeJuiceVerse, which led to me thinking… what would happen if rm style met ojv style? Chaos, that’s what
Jesus so idk how ojverse style got dropped into rm canon, but like they just APPEAR in the ravesey house and it’s so unserious bc Raven and his emo boy flair is all in his bleached hair pentagram belly button ring metal shirt tattooed up vibe and OJV Stan is just staring at him all clean cut all american boy in the Hike Bc People Suck shirt with his handful of tats hidden just like?? Why does this guy kinda look like me??? And the Kyles are both holding the cats but THATS where the similarities end!!!
And Jersey, my smart/smartass KING immediately puts two and two together and goes “good GAHD WHY is this alternate timeline me SHORT?” and ojv Kyle is like “dude you talk like my mom”
Like names are exchanged and they gotta work together to get ojv style back to their universe and stuff, but that introduction is SO funny. The Stan’s are over here gushing over each other like “oh my god you’re a ROCKSTAR?!? That so cool!” And “you work with animals that’s ~wowza~ oh! Are you best friends with Kenny in your world?” “Besides Ky yeah” lmfao they’re just bonding over being them and as the convo gets deeper ravens like “dude sry if this is too personal is your kyle all hot and demanding in bed?” And OJV Stan is all woah there’s a dom kyle out there? “I mean, sometimes? I think he has a praise kink if that’s what you’re talking about, don’t tell him I said that tho” smh it’s so fuckin hilarious if you’re familiar w ojv and rm nsfw hcs because nothing is common there besides our boys being down horrendous. And the STANS omg vegetarian legends and then Raven finds out ojv Stan is a few years sober and he’s so stoked it’s so cute
Meanwhile the Kyles are super serious trying to figure out what happened and poor Jersey is so put off by Kyle’s energy he’s just too friendly to an essential stranger and Jersey does NAUGHT trust that, his eyes are narrowed behind the sun and moon chain glasses the whole time and ojv kyle is just focused on the similarities like at least we’re dressed similarly and both with stan in our universes :) optimistic slay and then he’s like “so what’s your cats name?” “It’s Curb, you gotta problem?” “Dude, no, ours is Moose.”
And Curb and Moose are just on the ground staring at each other occasionally meowing back and forth and Curb (orange bastard man I’d die for him) is like WHAT is this thing while Moose is all I can Fix Him
Live laugh love rp/neen crossovers

Hi Helena! Big fan of your writing here🥺♥️ Your rivamika fics are my safe space 😭 (if you have time to answer) i’d love to know when you first started shipping them, why, and what made you continue to love this ship (or anything else to do with your journey as an RM shipper)? i love your characterisation of both levi and mikasa individually, but even more so, your portrayal of their dynamic as a couple, which is why i wanted to ask so badly ☺️ x
Hey anon! Oh woah, first of all, thank you so much. Second of all, oh god, you probably shouldn't have handed me the mic. heh 😅
I’m afraid to look at the word count of this response, I’m sure it’s much more than you bargained for, but I appreciate the question and enjoyed thinking through my response (: Most importantly, I’m so glad you find my stories as a safe space. It’s really an honor. Thank you for sharing with me 🖤🖤
TL; DR As a longtime reader, writer and lover of stories and story-telling, by being someone who pays attention to how stories are crafted and deliberately developed from beginning to end, I sincerely thought Isayama was setting up rivamika as an endgame relationship. So, I read into and interpreted meaning out of ALL their interactions and became deeply invested.
I don’t necessarily ship them cause of the parallels, age gap, enemies to lover trope, height difference, or some of those common reasons and/or kinks. I’m more basic and boring than that. I love the concept of them coming together as though it’s inevitable.
They both are unbelievably strong, selfless, and have suffered so much loss— so, no one else could truly understand them as well as they can understand each other. They both probably would have always settled for a stable, simple life, and been alone and lonely even without realizing it— instead, they find each other, and realize what it means to actually no longer be alone, to do more than just survive. It’s this understated bond, as opposed to a dramatic and passionate romance, that I envision in them and that I love so much.
Then, the passion, heat, the romantic "spark"— I think that’s an added bonus, the cherry on top, the perfect final puzzle piece. They’re both so physically capable, can speak through their actions, and don’t show much need or capacity for emotional/ verbal communication, so the ability to connect with each other through physical intimacy and mind-blowing sex seems like another given.
Still, at the end of the day, for me it comes back to their ability to fully depend on each other, to the inevitability. Not like some soulmate trope where they 'have no choice' in it, but like the stars aligned to prove it's right. How each of them have only one other person on the whole planet who could see and understand them, to be on par with them, to make them realize there’s more to life than settling and surviving, and they happen to find it in each other.
You asked, I rambled 😅 Here’s a breakdown of my thought process in my rivamika journey. For those who make it to the end or want to skip to the end, I'll finish with the excerpt of the very first rivamika scene I felt compelled to to write.
I've tried before to re-watch and remember the exact scenes, exact moments, that initially captured my full attention, but I guess it was all of them, the gradual and cumulative compilation of their earliest interactions.
Mikasa always appearing cool and indifferent, and paying no attention whatsoever to others fawning over, like Jean initially falling for her, but then her strongly reacting over Levi in the courtroom showed how uniquely capable he was at getting under her skin.
Of course, the scene in the forest chasing the Female Titan was a critical one. I think of that as the first time both Levi and Mikasa were truly able to see the other's strength, mental and physical. And for them, orphans and trauma survivors who have suffered extensive loss, I think that seeing strength in another person made them feel less alone. Less alone in a deep, quiet but cataclysm, life-altering sort of way, even if not a romantic one. Like they didn't know it was something they didn't have, something they didn't expect to get from life, but then found it with each other.
(Even when we found out Levi was an Ackerman, I was disappointed if it meant they were immediate relatives, but willing to accept it wouldn't be a romantic end to loneliness, it would be a familial end to loneliness. But... the author never explored that. Not once.)
In that forest scene, manga and anime, the way that Levi pauses to really look and see Mikasa and think about who she is, what she’s gone through, and how strong and dedicated she is now— that was a defining moment. It was also a visual demonstration of Levi breaking character, from aloof and ruthless, to considering and curious. I thought Yams was showing both of them do that on purpose.
Then, Levi getting hurt because of Mikasa in that scene felt like another clue. Sure, it was while saving Eren, and sure, it could have been meant to humanize super-soldier Levi, or sure, it could have been another aspect of how Mikasa rushing into things over Eren ends up hurting other people that later changes in her character development, but it felt like a very pointed statement about Mikasa being a vulnerability for Levi. And that's swoon-worthy, right? Most of us have been exposed to and conditioned by stories about how special and romantic it is to be the one and only girl who can make an otherwise disinterested or unattainable guy actually pay attention to her, and so admittedly I fall right for it.
I’m sure I’m forgetting plenty, but the opening of season 3 felt like confirmation. When Levi figures out Kenny's behind things and entrusts Mikasa with instructions to share with the others, instructions about fighting people instead of titans that ultimately everyone else besides her struggles with, and when Mikasa lets Levi hold her back from chasing after Eren, her most important way of trusting and having faith in Levi, I honestly took that as cues from the author that rivamika was endgame. I let myself get truly invested from then on. That’s that understated bond I was referring to. To me, that unspoken but undeniable trust is the most important dynamic.
Seeing them fight together or fight similarly has always been fun and powerful and fulfilling.
I'm newer to the snk club. I was originally an anime-only fan and started watching in fall 2019, I think. I wasn't on tumblr, twitter, or anything else to see fandom discourse. So, I didn't know that the rooftop scene of Mikasa fighting Levi over the serum was such a staple for our ship until much later. I love the scene just like many do for all the reasons we do, but I don't think the actual scene was pivotal for me, so much as it's aftermath. I thought it represented two things.
One, it was an important marker in Levi's characterization. Hands-down one of the most striking scenes to me is the one where Levi is in the alley, somber and alone, listening in on Eren, Armin, and Mikasa talking together. It artfully shows his longing for hope and connection. So, when Levi chose Armin for the serum, that represented Levi choosing hope. And when Mikasa ultimately gave up fighting Levi and didn't choose Armin, which Armin finds out about later on, I see that as an important marker in Mikasa's development. It puts a wedge between her and Armin/Eren [Armin, because he knows she would have let him die, and Eren, because Armin is too special to him and he couldn't look at her the same way after realizing she would have let him die]. That distance between her and her childhood friends is one I don't think could ever be healed completely, one of those painful lessons in growing up. By doing that, it then also puts a distance in Mikasa's own childhood self to her current self. I thought that matured her and separated her out in a way that was another clue toward eventual rivamika developments.
That's a whole other conversation on Mikasa, but I’ll stay on track. Her love for Armin was absolutely authentic and fierce, but at the end of the day, at the core of her being, she chose survival over hope. Meanwhile, Levi chose hope over survival. To me, that was soft, fertile ground for the reasons why eventually, if/when Mikasa found hope and chose hope, that could directly tie together with her inevitably in coming together with Levi. Again, less butterflies and fireworks, but more natural and in a way that was just a given.
I wrote Beyond the Walls before reading the manga from the Marley Arc and on, so that's why most of that story is her journey into embracing that hope. *manga spoilers* There's a lot of meta, criticism and talk about Mikasa's silent, off-screen and subtle style of character development in the Marley Arc and afterward. I won't go down that road, I'm still processing the end of the manga to be honest, but I think it's fair to say she does eventually end up choosing hope over survival when she lets go of Eren and saves humanity instead. I love the “Stay with Me” line and think it’s perfect; a simple but profound display of trust and their deep-rooted bond in a really understated way. *end manga spoilers*
Here's something I always wanted to talk about in full but haven't. It honestly reads to me like Yams was building toward rivamika, and didn’t do anything to stop that until too late. There are tools authors can use to ensure we stop shipping a pair or start shipping a new one; love triangles are commonly used in every artistic medium and we’ve all been persuaded by these tools. But Yams didn’t use these tools to make sure readers didn’t feel convinced by rivamika. For all the reasons I listed above, more I'm forgetting, and for the following:
If he wanted us to think they were family and it would be incest, he should have added in a conversation between them realizing they were (close) family and that they weren't the only ones left in their biological family like they thought. But he didn't.
If he wanted us to think it was completely inappropriate between a child-and-adult and student-and-teacher, then he could have done something to ensure Mikasa looked childish or Levi looked older, but no. They barely look ten years apart. I do think it's unacceptable and that there's a power imbalance between a child-and-adult relationship regardless of that, and that there can't be true consent when one is a superior and another a subordinate, so I personally age-up Mikasa in my head and try to handle his position of power responsibly in my writings... but the point being, by the end of canon, there's no inappropriate or non-consensual romance between them, yet there's a lot of history and chemistry that could naturally lead to an age-appropriate and consensual relationship. If Yams didn't want us to think so, he could have made it more clear that there were reasons it wouldn't happen.
The only thing that makes sense to me is the author planned on rivamika endgame but was shamed/pressured out of it (either internally or due to others) OR that the author somehow accidentally created such vibrant chemistry and an incredible dynamic between them. Like, he didn't put enough convincing substance of eremika in, didn't make Levi look old enough, didn’t have one of them do something unforgivable in the other’s eyes, etc. Those are some of those tools he could have used. Romance was never a key component in snk. And since we now know Yams planned or needed eremika endgame for sake of plot and the conclusion of the manga, I personally think he didn't know what to do with the riveting rivamika substance and chemistry being much more convincing to readers. Once he had them so well built-up, maybe the only option he felt he had was to just stop putting the characters together. We get little-to-no rivamika interaction, platonic or practical, after season 3 all the way up until the very end. But there was so much of it beforehand ?? So, it simply doesn't make sense. I think the author just straight-up cut any and all interactions out between them because it was too convincing and moving, more convincing and substantial than eremika. But, as the end of canon shows, we needed to have some eremika buy-in. It's messy writing and unskilled in the romance department, but considering for how long and how complicated snk has been in a creative process and how lackluster the eremika romance (the main and apparently pivotal romance) is developed, I think it’s plausible to say the author effed up.
As far as writing fanfiction goes, there's just so much room to explore them. In canon, we aren't given enough insight into their individual perspectives, let alone their dynamic together, so it feels like a blank canvas to work from. I think that's part of why I love to write them, and also why I don't necessarily read much of them. When I first started shipping them while watching the anime, I read a few of the classics that were canon-verse, but I haven’t really read much since. For me, exploring and discovering them as a writer is the most fun. (It's one of the reasons Naruto and Harry Potter have such large fanfiction collections. There's so much world-building and so many characters, but there's also so much left to the imagination.)
In general, I'm drawn to strong characters, especially women, who are multidimensional enough to be real, vulnerable and soft. Mikasa is the pinnacle of that. I don’t necessarily like to write about her love or infatuation with Eren, but I do respect and admire and consider it integral to her character and her amazing capacity to love. We can have strong, kickass women who falter when it comes to love but are still considered strong for it. The two don’t have to be mutually exclusive and Mikasa is a beautiful example of that.
And Levi is strong, but real and vulnerable too; he’s honestly a fantastically developed character, from Petra explaining to Eren in the beginning how he’s not the amazing hero he’s painted to be to the public, to how Levi genuinely cares for Erwin and others and chooses hope despite all he’s suffered.
The end of the manga wrecked me a bit. Kind of like Games of Thrones. You have something that was so epic and well-done for so long, a rushed ending that isn't immediately sensical and isn't fulfilling is hard to stomach. Eventually, I'll move on from the denial of that and process what I think and feel about it. The whole reason we have fanfiction is to expand on canon, but it's made me put rivamika on the back burner until I figure it out. So I'm a little less hyper-fixated on the pairing right now even though interacting with you all and asks like this remind me what brought me here in the first place. 😊
To conclude, I’ll share that the very first rivamika content I wrote was a compilation of moments I thought could be inserted into season 3. These are still moments I plan to edit and publish one day. For anyone that actually read this far, I’ll put a rough and unedited excerpt of the first scene I ever wrote about them.
Thank you again anon 🖤😊
BEGIN EXCERPT [after the rooftop fight for the serum, immediately following the ceremony where Eren touched Historia by kissing her hand]:
Part of her was embarrassed at such a flagrant act of disobedience to a superior, especially to one who saved her and countless others' lives in the past. But mostly, she was anguished by the situation Captain Levi put her in once he revoked the serum meant to save Armin and planned to use it on Commander Erwin instead. Her current ostracization and self-loathing was not entirely her own fault. Anger she felt toward herself was just as easy to wield against him.
It must have shown in the grit of her teeth or defiant tone, because he turned to look at her, more aloof than curious.
Like a flint struck to steel, it ignited the fury she felt toward him.
“I shouldn’t have hesitated. I should have just killed you,” she answered him at last, piercing him with eyes darker than the night.
He wasn’t concerned. “You’re good, but not that good.”
Her hands fell to her side, fists clenched as she stood with a single, fluid movement. Before she could let loose a threat, he sighed.
“What’s the problem, Ackerman?” He was dismissive, his shoulders relaxed and posture loose.
The fire too furious to contain, she went sailing for him with the same speed from the battlefield. Her fingers already curled, she tightened her grasp as she swung her fist into his gods-damned apathetic face.
Levi wasn’t unprepared. He easily side-stepped her, then snatched her wrist to steal her momentum. Though he tried to toss her aside, she was no less fast; Mikasa dug her heel in and spun, her other arm shoving hard into his chest.
Too graceful to stumble, Levi used the chance to hook her second arm too. He caged both her wrists in a grip so strong, she was sure it bruised her bones. Still, he only looked at her warily, almost bored.
“Shouldn’t you be grateful? I chose Armin.” If his reminder was meant to ease her anger, it had the opposite effect.
Fury and desperation gifted her additional strength. She shoved into his chest hard. Levi shifted backward, nearly forced into loosening his grip; within that split second of an opening, Mikasa slammed her elbow into his chin, rocking his head backward.
“You did,” she seethed, but as fast as the fire inside her exploded, it was doused. Her next words came out broken and damp. “But I didn’t.”
Levi remained stern and otherwise unmoving as he attempted to flex his jaw through the spasm of pain. As the momentum of the fight died down, he loosened his hold on her wrists and evaluated her distraught frame.
Mikasa immediately released her own hands and turned away from him, eyes stinging from tears she refused to shed as she focused on the stars ahead. Admitting the harsh words aloud hurt her far more than any injury she could inflict onto him.
Not only was Armin one of the only friends she had, but he’d been a steadfast one throughout almost all she could remember of her life. After the trauma of her childhood, it was Eren and Armin who embraced her, whom she learned to love. Now, though, there was a wedge between her and Armin she was not sure could ever be removed. What was worse, as deplorable and selfish as she knew it proved her to be, was the painful wedge it now put between her and Eren too.
Once again, she found Levi standing at the peripheral of her sight, close enough to see but far enough to be a blur at the edge of her watery vision.
“You almost killed me.” Levi repeated his earlier words, but he said them with an odd bite, torn between frustration and patience. “You would have killed me to save him.”
Too late, Mikasa realized he hadn’t meant these words as an accusation, but an odd form of validation. She bit her bottom lip, teeth puncturing too hard; the tang of metal was sharp on her tongue when she swallowed blood.
“You thought about letting your closest friend die,” Levi said quietly, tiredly. “But I did let mine die. I left him for dead, when I could have saved him.”
Mikasa was startled from her selfish reverie, for the first time acknowledging the sacrifice he made on that fateful afternoon. She’d been too absorbed in her own relief, and then, her own regrets to consider what the decision had done to him.
For a brief moment, she considered turning to face him, but the stark reality of the matter made her refrain. How could she feel pity for his loss, when his loss enabled her gain? An uncomfortable knot tightened in her stomach.
“Tch,” Levi sighed. He was only one notch less taciturn, but for him, that was soft. “You’ll live with your guilt, and I’ll live with mine.”
His words granted Mikasa’s tears the permission to spill. She buried her face further into her scarf, both hands trembling at the worn threads. As quietly as he arrived onto the roof, Levi disappeared from it.
.
.
It was rare for him to indulge in alcohol or celebrations, but Erwin’s absence felt more tangible than his presence ever did. Levi distracted himself with the chaos of the few remaining Scouts that Erwin had died entrusting his legacy to, and attempted to drown the pain with whatever drink Connie Springer shoved into his hands.
He found Hanji with their ale long-forgotten about on the table as they half-stood from their seat, frantic while explaining some morbid experiment in great, vivid detail to an unsuspecting and slightly horrified MP officer.
Though Levi wordlessly took the seat beside them, Hanji paused their rant to slap him hard on the back, an enthusiastic greeting flying from their drunken lips. The MP took this chance to excuse himself, a pathetic attempt at politeness, but Hanji either didn’t care or didn’t notice.
“Ah, Levi,” they smiled at his drink, though it didn’t entirely reach their one eye. “Where you been?”
Levi didn’t answer. “You know, shitty-glasses, you’re even more unbearable about your experiments when you’re drunk.”
Hanji waved dismissively and reached for their ale. Years spent in battle and command together had gifted both of them with an eased familiarity, and sometimes, genuine friendship. In the same manner he ignored their question, Hanji ignored his lack of response and went on with their original inquiry.
“Careful, Captain,” Hanji warned lightly. “Now that there’s far fewer Scouts, you having a favorite might cause some division.”
Even though Hanji meant the words, there was a glint of mischief that twinkled in their remaining eye.
“It’s not favoritism,” Levi countered bluntly, turning his vision toward the young man on the far side of the room. “Eren is simply the best chance that we have in this war.”
Hanji laughed as if he’d made a joke and Levi looked back to stare at them, unable to be surprised at their quirks or oddities any longer, but still a touch curious about what spurned this current demonstration.
“I wasn’t talking about Eren,” Hanji said at last, a pointed nod toward his injured chin.
Levi blinked. He didn’t realize he was nursing his injury with the hand not on his drink. As though it were too hot to touch, Levi dropped his hand.
Hanji was not judgmental, nor inquisitive. In a war-torn life of losing too many cadets entrusted to him, the fact that Levi found a soldier with the strength and skill to remain safe was not only rare, but worth special attention. Still, it made him too lenient.
“Sometimes I think you’d let her get away with murder,” Hanji chided halfheartedly.
When he thought of Erwin dead in his grasp, sometimes he wasn’t sure if he already had.

Final Space: And Into The Fire Review or Now with 110% More Homoerotic Telepathy
Tumblr media
Welcome  new and old to my first Final Space review! If you’ve never seen the blog before, and given this is the first “new” series i’ve covered as it come out in some time that’s probably quite a few of you, welcome. I’m Jake, I do recaps and reviews of various animated shows and comics, mostly just stuff I want to do, often on comission (5 dollars an episode if theres any episode of the first two seasons of this show or any episode of any other show you’d like tos ee me cover), or for my patreon patreon.com/popculturebuffet. And it is my utmost honor to add this show to my rotating roster of shows I cover as they come out.
I friggin love Final Space. I was intrigued by it back when TBS released the animatics alongside Close Enough (Wth the two shows ironically finally together on HBO max as of earlier this month), for their doomed block. I heard a lot of good things about season 1.. and let it get away from me, not watching it till Season 2. But both seasons had more than enough to pull me in with intriguging characters, even greater jokes and a truly unique idea for a premise involving giant monsters, an edltrich god and lots of cookies.
So while it took an extra year given Covid, I’m super friggin pumped to get into season 3 at long last after the hell of a cliffhanger, especially since ironically last night I saw Steven Yeun’s oscar nominated performance in “Minari”. Now i get to watch him play a cat teenager again too.. and in a few days Mark friggin Grayson. It’s a good week to be a fan of his is what i’m saying and a good week in general.
Previously on Final Space Yo!: Since it’s been a year and while the series provides  a recap , I’m going to be doing these anyway so:
Our heroes finally got all 5 dimensional keys and freed Bolo, and in the process also freed Avacato from Invictus, the horrifying entity controlling final space. Meanwhile Tribore got Sheryl to stop being a selfish prick and she joined the team trying to be a better mother from now on. But freeing Bolo came at a high cost as Nightfall sacrified herself as the sixth key (KVN was natrually both Gary and Bolo’s first choice, but was inllegible. ) So we ended the season with our heroes entering Final Space and Gary reuniting with Quinn.... while Invictus loomed. So over a year later we finally get some answers so join me under the cut for spoilers, recaps, and homoerotic text ahoy.
Tumblr media
Something i’m doing since both the roster keeps changing.. and as I correctly guessed from the trailer, and the general tone of the promos for this season, that everyone won’t be all together all season.. or even in one piece.. i’ll be doing a silver age style roll call to let us know who all we have on the Team Squad for the episode Roll Call: Gary, Quinn, Avacato, Little Cato, Ash, Fox, KVN, HUE, AVA, Sheryl, Bolo, and Tribore
So we pick up right where we left off, Gary tearfully reuniting with Quinn, with Quinn wishing he hadn’t come for her, and Gary being Gary naturally having ignored that, and actually been more determined since that made it forbidden which made it extra tempting and him want to extra do it. God I missed this glorious idiot let me tell you.
So things are quickly interrupted by invictus, who turns out to be a giant flaming head.. thing... and chases them and the crimson light, which has to start speeding with our heroes tethered to the outside, Quinn holding onto Gary.
So we get one hell of a thrilling chase as the Crimson Light outspeeds the demon head and runs into two titans, but Bolo shows up to take out one, with Mooncake trying his dimension shattering blast thingy on Invictus.. and naturlaly g ven this is the big bad we need to show off how horrying they are, and it does NOTHING. But Gary catches his little buddy so we’re alright.
Sheryl also shows off her badass bonafieds by LIGHTFOLDING THROUGH A TITAN... granted she still has some parenting skills to learn as “lightfolding while your son is hanging out the back through an edltrich god” really isn’t a motherly thing to do.. but neither is trying to murder your child several times or blaming him for how shitty your life turned out so ANYTHING is a step up for her.
But.. it’s not enough. While she does manage to kill ONE the Crimson Light is too badly damaged to go on and we get two tragic deaths in one go... The Team Squad is forced to abandon the Crimson Light.. and AVA is too damaged to Upload into HUE. “I’m Sad” “For who?” “For you.. and for us. “ God damn Tom Kenny is amazing. You don’t need me telling you that, but sometimes you need a reminder.
So our heroes end up on a desolate mystery world, stranded in final space with no ship, no suplies and no hope. The only thing to do now is survivie and hope they can continue the mission at some point.
ONE MONTH LATER
Things have not gotten any better, as naturally , our heroes have only found weird cartoon eyed worms that regrow their heads when you bite them off. So while this means unlimited food, it’s also disgusting and Garry hates it. “This may be a head but it tastes like a butt”. Quinn and Tribore are with him and Quinn hasn’t been ready to talk about her experiences trapped in this hellscape and still isn’t but being a good dude, Gary dosen’t push her on it. Though the weird red veiny thing on her arm tells me maybe one of you should speed that up before she explodes or gets cronnenburgy. Just saying. I’ll also say i’m not huge on the one month time skip, as while I feel they probably have a reason for being that specific i’ts a bit TOO long and I question why have that long a period of a jump, not the longest but still long enough for things to happen with nothing changingin that time? Still it’s a minor nitpick in an otherwise fantastic episode so I can let it go, I just don’t get it.
What we do get is some Gary Corpses dropping and Invictius puppeting them... i’m with gary that is bowel openingly scary. I also do like how despite the FAR more dire circumstances, they still get in the requisite shenanigans this series requires. I’ts not to the network mandated subplot levels where it distracts, but it’s enough to help ease the terror of the situation and isn’t around for situations like the opening where it really SHOULDN’T be. As the series always has when something big happens, the bollocks goes away. Once we’re in between we can get back to literal pissing contests, KVN leading a crowd to their deaths and HUE in a pimp hat like god intended.
So yeah our heroes have to outrun the horrible horde of Gary’s, though Little Cato catches on something’s wrong as Tribore makes gary cary him as foreshadowing for later and Sends mooncake down to asssit. Our heroes escape.. but a cave in happens.
After the break, Gary wakes up confused with the party now split in two: Gary, Quinn, KVN, Tribore and HUE on one side and Avacato, Ash, Fox, Little Cato and Sheryl on the other. So Gary does the logical thing... and take his shirt off telling Avacato to feel him.
Tumblr media
I mean I didn’t even ship them before this scene but... Gary claims because of their bond he can telepahtically connect with Avacato. That’s normal Gary shenanigans.. except not only does he shrug off his girlfriend asking why they can’t do that.. but it WORKS. We have a scene of the two telepahtically talking in a wheatfield that is so homerotic I guarantee there only wasn’t the Careless Whisper sax because they couldn’t afford it.. or their saving it for later this season. Look sometimes you don’t ship a ship because you just.. dont’ care that strongly one way or another and sometimes you just need an incredibly gay scene to see the light. Same thing happened with Weblena same thing here.
Fox also says “that was glorious to watch” same man. That was freaking art. So our heroes split up into three plots. As usual for me
Team Gary: So yeah... Triobore’s pregnant. No way to really softball into that. He’s been pregnant this whole time. So we get a stupid and mildly horrifying gross out sequence with Gary having to look Triobore in teh eyes and Quinn having to “uncork him”. Which is code for ... you know what i’m not going to say it. If you’ve seen the episode you know and if not your better off not visualizing it trust me. Point is this whole sequence is dumb and the worst part of the episode by far. And the series CAN do good gross out. While Olan Rodgers regrets it, the pissing contest was one of the funniest scenes of season 2, and managed to make a gross idea on paper actually pretty damn funny. This.. this is just “Haha males giving birth and tribore’s an asshole”. There’s no joke here just a .. plug. .. gah.. the vomit is rising let me tell you.
We do get something good out of this nightmare, Tribore’s son who hatches as the army of gary’s dig their way in, Quanstranstro, who rapidly ages into a stylsih spanish speaking adult badass. He is fucking awesome and a great addition to the team and the sheer.. oddity of his birth is wonderful even if the actual birthing was not. Then the climax happens so before that.
Team Avacato:
Avacato and Co come across a sleeping giant robot cyborg .. thingy. Naturally Fox wakes him up. Little Cato remains not suprised. It occelates between panicking over it’s legs being gone and amenisa and is pretty damn funny. It’s voiced by John Dimagio. But it gets serious as we find out nothing has ever made it out of final space, and things.. change the longer there there. And Quinn’s been there several months if not a year. Whuh oh. This part is much better both due to better jokes and plot advancment.. though again Quanstrano is still fucking amazing.
Team Bolo: Bolo meanwhile returns and fights a titan, and has mooncake help him rather htan join the others, but looses, hitting the planet with his body.. I mean he might not get back up.. but the impact shatters the caverns and causes an explosion. Everyone but Gary, Quinn, KVN and HUE are MIA, as our remaining party find earth floating overhead.
TO BE CONTINUED>
Final Thoughts: A decent start to the season. Like I said the whole birthing sequence can die in a fire and reminds me of the terrible comedy subplots adult swim wanted grafted onto two episodes.. but otherwise it’s a tense stark opener that sets up the bleak tone while still keeping the series rediciulous shenanigans in tact. It’s the perfect welcome back after so long. I mean the gay telepathy alone would make it a winner.
Next Time on This Blog: We dive into a little history with HIsteria. See you at the next rainbow.

A sodier's guilt
Tumblr media
Summary:
Jordan and TC are happy to find out that she is pregnant. However, after an accident at an emergency call, things start to go downhill.
Part 1 of a series.
Jordan was overjoyed. Though the child hadn't been planned, a bond had been formed between her and TC as soon as she told him the big news. They were parents now. "Are you kidding me?" He had said. "No, TC.", She said with tears in her eyes. "We're having a baby!" With that, all his doubts were overcome. He took her in his arms and whirled her in a circle. "I'm so happy Jordan, I can't believe it!" But then he immediately fell back into his role as a doctor and asked her worriedly. "Have you been to the doctor? We have to have all the examinations done immediately! " Jordan laughed and put her hand on TC’s chest. “Take it easy, Cowboy, I only took the test half an hour ago. We'll manage everything. " Since then, the two had spent all of their time preparing for their future role as parents, and now Jordan was three months pregnant. Although TC himself was very much a risk-taker, he had tried everything to prevent her from going on missions, but she had opposed him. “No, TC, I can continue to do my job as normal. Nothing will happen to me and nothing will happen to the baby either. " TC had objected most sharply, but eventually, he had to give in and has accompanied her on all of her missions ever since to ensure her safety. Meanwhile, Jordan was annoyed by his excessive care but somehow she also thought it was sweet to see a cautious side of TC, who otherwise rushes into battle without thinking.
That way, the two were on a mission together today. A boy was shot by his alcoholic father. Jordan and TC were sent to the scene as emergency doctors. TC had only agreed to the operation because the police did not assume that the perpetrator would come back. But still, his tension was visible. “Jordan, I really don't think it's good that you're here. Please stay here in the ambulance while I take care of the boy. I don't want anything to happen to you or the baby. " Jordan sighed in exasperation. “TC, I think it's really cute how you care for me, but I have to do my job. I'm not in the last trimester, and after all the examinations, the baby is also doing great! " The car stopped, and the paramedic got out. Jordan turned away from TC and got out of the car. Cursing, TC followed her and ran ahead to the boy, who was lying in the front yard of a row house. The father apparently shot him in the open air. Jordan reached the patient first. "What's his name?" She asked the desperate mother. "His name is Peter. Oh god, please help my boy! I don't want him to die! " Jordan put a reassuring hand on the mother's shoulder. "We will give our best. Please move a little to the side so that we can take care of Peter. ” TC knelt next to the boy. “Hello Peter, my name is Dr Callahan, and this is my colleague Dr Alexander. We will take care of you now. " TC removed the boy's T-shirt with scissors and examined the gunshot wound. Apparently, the shooter hadn't hit anything vital and missed the shoulder bone. The boy would recover quickly. “The injury looks good, Peter. You will be back on your feet very quickly. "Said TC and winked at the boy. Peter didn't answer and groaned in pain. "I'll give him morphine, his vital signs are stable." Jordan said, drawing up a syringe. TC prepared the stretcher and lifted the boy onto it. “Come on, let's get out of here as soon as possible. The shooter has still not been caught. Just at that moment, another shot rang out, and Jordan screamed, falling to the ground. She lay on her side and pressed her hand to her stomach. The shooter hit her. "T-TC, he hit the baby," she said before passing out. A wild exchange of fire rang out in the background as the police tried to incapacitate the perpetrator. "Take care of the boy, he is stable enough and does not have to be transported immediately." TC instructed the paramedic. "I have to take Jordan to the San Antonio Memorial immediately in the ambulance, she is too badly injured and needs immediate treatment." TC picked Jordan up and carried her to the ambulance. As the ambulance drove off, he immediately began tending to her wounds. Jordan slowly regained consciousness. “Breath easy, Jordan, stay with me. We can do it! ”Asserted TC doggedly and tamponaded her gunshot wound. She stopped bleeding. He breathed a sigh of relief. At least he wasn't going to lose Jordan, but the state of the baby couldn't be evaluated at the time. “A little faster, if you please!” TC shouted to the driver. Desperate, he ruffled his hands through his hair. How many times had he told Jordan not to deliberately endanger herself or the child and now it was happening. The ambulance came to a screeching halt. TC pushed the door open, jumped out and unloaded the stretcher in no time at all. Drew and Scott were already waiting for him outside. "Oh my god, is that Jordan? What happened TC? “Asked Scott, who was pale as a ghost. “She was shot by the missing shooter. Abdominal gunshot wound, the baby is believed to be at risk. We have to get her to the operating room right away. Together they pushed the stretcher up to the doors of the operating room. Drew held TC back. “TC, you can't come with me now. You are far too upset to make rational decisions now. Scott and I will take care of her, we will do our best. The best thing to do is go to the lounge. " "No Drew, you don't understand ...!" But Drew and Scott had already disappeared into the operating room and Kenny held him back. “Believe me, man, it's for the best. Come with me, I'll get you a coffee. "
TC sat trembling on the couch in the lounge, not registering that the hot coffee was burning his hands. Kenny sat across from him. "Come on, give me the cup. I'll put it away for you." TC was gone, thrown back into its worst nightmares from the war. Shots and grenades rang out. He looked for his brother, but he was nowhere to be found. TC slowly opened the door of a hut where he suspected the shooter to be. But when he looked inside, he saw only a child. He couldn't bring himself to shoot, the boy was still too young for the war, couldn't really understand what he was doing. Suddenly someone pushed open the door at the other end of the hut. His brother stormed in and opened fire but narrowly missed the boy. The boy returned fire and shot his brother right in the head. Another soldier shot the boy, who immediately fell to the ground. TC stormed towards his brother.
Why hadn't he reacted immediately at the time? He alone was to blame for his brother's death, of that he was sure. And now he was also responsible for the death of his and Jordan's child. Had he changed her mind, she would never have been shot. The wave of guilt that rolled over him crushed his heart. Slowly he looked up at Kenny. He had to go to a bar, to a fight, just somewhere where he didn't have to think about his crushing guilt, which he would never be able to atone for. The door to the lounge opened and TC woke up from his dreams. Drew stepped up to him and sat next to him. He put his arm around his shoulder sympathetically. “Jordan is fine, she will definitely survive the shot. But she's still sleeping, I'll bring you to her right now. " TC looked over at him. He knew what it meant that Drew hadn't said anything about the baby. "What about the baby Drew?" Drew hesitated, unsure how best to get the news across to TC. “IS MY BABY ALIVE? ANSWER ME! ”TC yelled at him. "I ... I'm sorry TC, but we couldn't help him anymore. The shot went straight through Jordan's uterus. He was dead instantly. " TC ran his hands over his face, close to tears. But he knew he had to be strong now, for Jordan. “Can I see her now? I have to see her. " "Of course, I'll take you there immediately," Drew replied and helped TC up, who was slumped when he received the heavy news.
He approached her bed cautiously. It was unusual to see her all at once in a hospital bed, in a surgical gown, instead of a strong doctor devoted to caring for her patients. But even the strongest people had moments of weakness. TC sat down on the edge of her bed and took her hand in his. "Jordan, I'm so sorry," he said while tears ran down his face. "If only I could have convinced you or if I had seen the shooter earlier ... It's all my fault." He knew she would sleep a few more hours because of the morphine, but he bravely stood guard by her side, determined to be with her when she woke up and found out about her loss.

I love the idea of the Hidden Seven throwing a party at the mansion instead of taking Five along for his first college party. I think it would be very considerate of them since he probably would not like so much social interaction at once so the familiar environment and the fact he can kick everyone out the minute he's uncomfortable would give him some semblance of control over the situation. I'm imagining the Hidden Seven in a huddle, maybe while Reader and Five are on a date, and deciding this among themselves cuz they care about him and they've been to High School parties but college parties are on another level and Five has never been to ANY party. He's part of their little group now too so they take care of him in the little ways.
Additionally, as part of the "how to summon the H7", Five discovers eventually that it's not just memes that grab their attention but if he dares say anything slightly self-loathing about himself or says he's hungry/refers to his past trauma of any type, he can summon them as fast as if they have his power too, Usually along with a Hargreeve, notably Allison and Vanya as well. (there's a tumblr chat post used for fandom characters for this exact scenario or I'd type it out but I just can't remember it exactly rn D:)
Also would Five participate on the Hidden Seven's missions as well when not trapped by Big Bad Evil Guys? I can see him mostly taking a backseat with the fighting, acting as a distraction more than anything else but definitely getting used to the H7s antics and participating in these menial conversations unless he's in an agitated mood in which case he takes a more hands on approach as well.
Five (flashing in front of a robber so he doesn't realize Dean is about to shoot him in the back): Can we PLEASE go get a decent cup of coffee after this. I've been in class since 8 AM and now this?
Addison: Do you ever stop thinking about coffee? Sonata and I brought you some on our way to class! We thought it would tide you over til 3 at least!
Reader (melting someone's brains): He spilled half when someone bumped into his desk. I had to keep him from committing murder. Our Physics professor was not amused.
*Five kills someone in his peripheral with nothing but a paper weight*
Lucas (throws a guy against a wall): Ohh so that's why he's so murdery today... Normally he just distracts people for us.
Bren (using his whips to hold someone in place): Is that also why you asked to borrow my extra shirt?
Everyone looks and Five is indeed wearing one of Bren's usual shirts.
Kenny (punching the guy being held in place) : Hey! I offered too!
Bren: Yeah but none of us would be caught dead in your clothes after you bought your neon atrocity.
Kenny (gasps): You take that back! My jacket is the height of fashion!
Five (doing his stapler trick): Cool stapler, my guy. *kills him* Anyway can we get back to the point. COFFEE! I can't take Professor Snotty's class without it or I won't need paradox psychosis to feel homicidal rage... (flashes to reader's side) Hey, mon amour, need some assist? *holds guy in place so reader can do her thing*
Viktoria (pauses bad viola playing to say over the sound system): You call a Professor as Snotty?
Reader (taking her time with the destruction of the bad guy): His names Snitty so it's not any better. The entire phys-chem departments calls him that.
Kenny: I would like to meet this professor Snotty.
Reader and Five pause and consider it... The bad guy tries to sneak away.
Dean: Anyway so... Coffee after this? I have like 2 hours before my next class (impales sneaking away bad guy with an arrow) and I really don't wanna do my homework.
Kenny: Ooh! I want a unicorn milkshake!
Lucas (roughing up a bad guy): That sweetened monstrosity? Really?
Bren (slashing a guy): I am NOT babysitting Necrotic if he gets a unicorn milkshake. He's all yours.
Meanwhile, the bad guys are all dead and the H8 then go and get their well earned smoothies, milkshakes and coffees.
(Sorry for the long message, I almost sent three asks with all three topics separately but then combined them into one for ease after I caught up on the discussion this morning xD do you think it's all accurate to your vision?)
Oh yeah, they definitely take his lack of party experience into consideration. Giving him as much control as possible will make it such a better time for him. I think when the party actually occurs at first Five is a little hesitant just because it’s a lot of people he’s never met and it’s a new experience but which a couple of shots that Kenny definitely offered him he starts to loosen up and enjoy himself more. He would absolutely be by the readers side the whole time tipsily telling her about all the stuff he admires about her and pulling her on to the dance floor with him the more comfortable he gets. He would be having a hell of a time and would totally tell his siblings to leave if they showed up early.
Because of how much they care for Five if he ever said something negative about himself you would hear a chorus of “Nooooooo!” coming from across the house as all the rest of them ran from different directions to get to him. They’d immediately go into helping mode because even though they themselves would say similar things because they’re Gen Z so of course they wouldn’t want their friend to feel upset.
And yes, Five would definitely join them to fight criminals because it’s a very casual bonding activity for all of them. They just get notifications about stuff that is going down and they will all collectively drop what they’re doing and go there because it’s probably better than whatever they were doing before. And to the bad guys it is so infuriating that not only that they’re being beat by such young people but that they won’t even focus on the fight. They’re just that good together. Also:
Five: (spatial jumping around aggressively taking out people)
Kenny: (knocking someone out) Jeez he’s aggressive today. What happened?
Reader: (Throwing knives at some guys) Oh our physics professor was just well snotty today, as always.
Five: (snapping a criminal’s neck) JUST SNOTTY? HE WAS A FULL ON ASSHOLE. HE SAID SHE WAS WRONG WHEN SHE HAD THE RIGHT ANSWER AND WHEN I SAID THE ANSWER HE SAID I WAS RIGHT.
Viktoria: (making some criminals ears bleed) Oh god...is your professor still alive?
Reader: Yes
Five: UNFORTUNATELY. SOMEONE DECIDED TO STOP ME FROM PUTTING HIM IN HIS PLACE
Dean: (releasing an arrow into a guy) Five you would’ve put him in the grave.
Five: It’s where he belongs
Addison: (kicking a gun out of a criminal’s hand and across the room) Ringmaster, what did you do to stop him?
Reader: (disintegrating someone’s stomach) I had to use my powers to make him so dense he couldn’t jump. Believe me it took a lot to stop him.
Bren: (catching someone running away with his whip) Damn that’s crazy.
Lucas: (tossing a guy down a staircase) If it makes you feel better Five I would’ve done the same thing for Spotlight.

Dream Daddy Fanfic #2
Lasagna Nights (Hugo x Dadsona) [Word Count: 2437]
By: Brendon Cetinkaya ( @cynergy-laughter )
~~~
It’s three weeks since you threw the graduation party for Amanda, when you sat under the cherry tree and spent the rest of the party with Hugo. You two were so happy to be a part of each other’s lives and to just be a good match. You sigh as you realize that you are sitting at home, no pants on, word jumbles in hand, and Shark Hunter Lip Sync Battles going on in the background of your living room. It’s been three weeks man, organize yourself, you haven’t even gotten your coffee yet! You thought about Hugo some more, and decided to hit him up. You go to your computer and type away at your keyboard to Hugo’s Dadbook messenger.
“Hey babe, I know it’s kinda weird for me to be messaging you since we’re practically boyfriends, do you think you’d wanna have a family dinner, Amanda’s gonna be coming home this weekend, and it would be nice if we got together.”
You hit send and not 2 minutes later, a reply came:
Hey babe! It’s not weird at all. I’m glad that you sent me that. Ernest and I are having Lasagna Night, we can always put it off until Amanda comes home.”
“Actually, she’ll be coming home tomorrow morning, we can make it a whole family time kinda shindig.”
“That works! Although Ernest usually looks forward to Lasagna Night, so I’m gonna have to find something else to eat…”
“Hmm… try… ooh! Try pizza! Can’t go wrong with pizza.”
“That’s true, thank you so much! I shall see you and Amanda tomorrow.”
It’s all set now, two families coming together to form one single family, if only for a single day. Maybe one day, it could become a reality. But until then, you and your word jumbles had to retire for the night. You turned the TV off and after shutting off the lights, you began to text Amanda about what was going to be going down tomorrow. You couldn’t even wait to go over. As you lay your head to rest and closed your eyes, you suddenly open them, and turn to look up at the ceiling and wonder what you were gonna bring to the dinner.
The next day, you grogged yourself awake, got your bathroom and coffee routine over with and got dressed. You worked on jumbles until you heard the familiar rumble of Amanda’s car, and then proceeded to Dad hug all throughout your reunion with Amanda. But before you both left for Hugo’s you decided to gather up some ingredients at the store for dessert.
“So, Dad, we’re having dinner with Hugo and Ernest, huh?” Amanda asked as you went through the market.
“Yeah… I thought it would be a fun thing to do, you know, get to know Hugo on a side that doesn’t determine whether you pass or fail in life.” You say as you began to grab some ingredients for brownies, you experimented a lot of recipes with Joseph and finally found the perfect ratio of sweet to bring the confections to life standards rather than Type 2 standards.
“Alright, sounds like it could be fun… But just to remind you, I will headlock Ernest if he talks crap about my favorite Dadtron.” She said as she pushed the cart, leaning into the child’s basket and cart handlebar.
“Easy, Panda. He’s like 14, he’s just going into freshman year of high school after the summer.” You said, touched that she’d defend your honor.
“Well, what would you do? He’s an angry, angsty, and not afraid to say what he wants. How can I combat that?” She asked.
“Well, pop quiz, what is the best way to torture a little brother figure when he annoys you or your siblings?” You ask, smirking, especially since you are her father. Amanda put her hand on her chin, leaning more into the cart, then, a light bulb turned on.
“Ah! Hehe, I gotcha. This is gonna be an interesting day.” Amanda finger gunned you as you both continued to shop, eventually changing the subject about how Amanda was doing in college. After paying, you both drive back to the cul-de-sac and park right in Hugo’s driveway. As you get out of the car, you could hear a loud vacuum sound coming from the open windows, it was like an alarm, but for every dog that feared that dastardly machine.
“How much you wanna bet that it’s Hugo cleaning up?” You ask quietly to Amanda.
“I don’t need to bet, Hugo’s definitely cleaning up.” Amanda chuckled as you both went up to the front door and knock. The vacuum was still going on while the door opened, revealing Hugo’s smiling face, he looked like seeing you was the highlight of his day.
“Ah, babe! Come on in, sorry we thought we had a lot more time.” Hugo invited, holding the door open for them. “Ah, Amanda, I hope you’re doing well at the university.”
You both went inside and exchange hellos before you actually see Ernest vacuuming, but only for a second before he turns it off and scurries away to put away the vacuum. You guess he didn’t want anyone else to witness that him actually cleaning. You both thought it was a weird to get a glimpse of it, hell, you could have sworn that you saw Ernest with his hoodie around his waist, actually showing his hair. Well, when he came back he had his hoodie back on,  he was back to his usual, aloof self. After getting greetings out of the way, you and Hugo went into the kitchen and started making dinner. Meanwhile, Amanda was sitting with Ernest in the living room, watching Long Haul Paranormal Ice Road Ghost Truckers.
“...What is this show even about?” Ernest asked Amanda, raising an eyebrow.
“If the show’s title isn’t clue enough, then you are really missing out. Luckily, my dad hooked me up with the complete series.” Amanda smirked and showed the box set. “You have a long way to drive, junior Ice Road Ghost Trucker.” She was determined.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, you were busy making your brownie recipe and Hugo was working on layering the lasagna.
“The trick to good lasagna is a good sauce, and start the layering off with that sauce, you don’t need any cooking spray.” Hugo explained.
“Really? I thought everything in a glass pan needed cooking spray.” You assumed.
“Oh not lasagna, I maybe a bad cook, but the one thing that I’ve practiced on is Lasagna, I’ve made every mistake in the book, and I feel like I’ve gotten down to the best cheeses to use for it.” Hugo assured, as he put on the pasta sheets, then a layer of ricotta, another layer of pasta, and some more meat sauce, “And boiling lasagna noodles? Don’t even, the sauce cooks the pasta.”
“Umm, I’m pretty sure everyone knew that, babe…” You rose your brow, a bit taken back about what you heard.
“I did that in my first culinary class, and my teacher always said it was a... extreme beginner’s mistake… The lasagna was overcooked when it was done…” Hugo admitted, blushing embarrassed.
“So, is lasagna the only thing you know how to cook?” You asked, as you sprayed another glass pan down for your brownies.
“Yeah, that’s why Ernest always looks forward to Lasagna night, which is every 4 weekends, when I’m not grading or working.”
“You know, I could always help teach you to cook some more if you want. I’m sure Ernest would appreciate more home-cooked, non-Italian foods.”
“You think so?”
“I know for a fact, Amanda grew tired of us always going out, and she wanted me to cook. I knew nothing about it, so I always asked Alex to help teach me to cook. Amanda loved it! Now she can’t get enough of eating out. I think Ernest is the same.” You finished mixing, poured the brownie batter into the pan, covered it and put it in the fridge. Then you go over behind Hugo and wrap your arms around his waist. He turns his head with a blush and smiles at you.
“I would always be willing to learn something new with you…” Hugo said, kissing you on the lips. You kiss right on back, but not before there a sound of disgust from the doorway of the kitchen.
“Eww! God, that’s fuckin gross, next time I want a soda I’ll just send Amanda in there.” Ernest sweared, but then, Amanda’s arm came in like one of those canes that pull bad acts of the Shark Hunter Lip Sync Battle stage, and pulled Ernest back into the living room.
“That’s enough outta you , Kenny.” She teased, you and Hugo couldn’t see past the corner, but you both saw Amanda digging her fingers into Ernest’s sides, which made Ernest squeal, a sound Hugo never heard in a long time. They somehow made it into the living room, past the corner but you could hear everything that went on.
“GAHAHAHA! I’LL KIHIHIHILL YOU, YOU BI-AAHAHAHAHA!” Ernest hadn’t been tickled in a long time, and he didn’t finish his thought before Amanda spidered his belly and skittered her finger in his armpits, his hoodie not giving him any defense.
“Oh, first you ruin a perfect moment, then call me a name when I call you out on it? Heh, I’m so gonna enjoy being your big sister.” Amanda said, keeping her iron grip as she kept on teasing him. You taught her well, even Hugo smirked at his son getting what he deserved, a good punishment that didn’t involve violence or grounding.
“N-NO-NOOOOHOHOHOHO! NAHT MY PIHITS! DAHAHAHAD!” Ernest called out for help. He just called Hugo dad… you had to act fast, because he was sure to go after Panda after that father’s summon spell. You wrap your arms around his waist and proceed to squeeze into his sides, hips, and skitter along his waistline.
“ACK! Hehey! Lemme go! He called me Dahahad! Bahabe Stohohop that!” Hugo wiggled around, trying to pull away, but because you exercise with Craig regularly, you were able to keep your grip up.
“I will not have you stop their soon to be brother-sister bonding! Get him good, Panda!” You and Amanda were having your own battle and you both were determined to fight to win, no one shall beat you guys as the tag-team tickle-fighting champions of the cul-de-sac. You wrap your leg around his leg to try and bring him to the floor. But it wasn’t until you wiggled your fingers into his ribs that he lunges forward, and falls into your trap. Quite literally. As Hugo lay on his stomach on the kitchen floor, his slippers fall off his feet, and you sit down on his back and raise his legs up behind you, ankle locking them in your armpits.
“GAhahaha! B-Babe, gehet off, p-please, anything but that! Why did you have to catch me off guahard?!” Hugo asked, trying to move, but he could only move his head and his arms.
“Heh, remember that time when you wrestled me that one time, and you found out I was ticklish, and proceeded to tickle me until I tapped out?” You asked, but didn’t give him the chance to answer as you begin to skitter your fingers on Hugo’s trapped feet. Hugo was even louder than Ernest, in fact both Amanda and Ernest stopped everything and peaked out to see the scene, and see that Hugo laughing his head off.
“AHAHAHAHA! BAHAHABE! STOHOHOP! WE GOTTA FINISH DIHIHINNER!” Hugo tried to overpower you, but his weakness was being exploited, and a skitter along his arches and under his toes weren’t helping at all.
“This is payback, babe!” You yell triumphantly as you keep tickling all over his feet.
Ernest smirks and jumps into the fray and starts wiggling his fingers in Hugo’s armpits. You and Amanda were so surprised.
“This is for taking my vape!” Ernest stated mercilessly, as he intensified the tickling.
“AAAAHAHAHA! ERHRHRNEST! PLEHEHEASE!”
“Panda, any vendetta you wanna bring out onto your former teacher?” You ask, as Amanda smirked and gave you the finger guns.
“This is gonna be for my last english paper, the one that you gave me an A minus on!” She said as she went over and reached under him to get his sides and his ribs. Hugo was officially tapping out as he banged his right fist into the floor and screaming at the top of his lungs with laughter.
“STAHAHAP STAAAAHAHAHAP! STOP!” Soon, Hugo could take no more and he gotten a sudden burst of energy and he pulled his feet out of your grip, and started to get up with a noble Dad Roar. You fell of his back as Amanda and Ernest jumped but landed on their butts on the kitchen floor. Hugo leered at all three of you for a moment, before he just started snickering, which grew to chuckling, which grew to full on laughter. Soon you joined in the laugh, followed by Ernest and then Amanda. After the laugh fest, all four of you began to help finish the lasagna. After the lasagna was done cooking, you put the brownies in for 20 minutes. All four of you had a slice or two of lasagna and cut up italian bread. All the while you had dinner, everyone was having a good conversation, heck even Ernest chimed in a few times. Soon, it was night time, dinner was winding down and the brownies were cooling down. Amanda got up and winked at Ernest.
“So, Pops, we’re gonna be going to the movies tonight, Ernest, Lucien and I.” Amanda announced, “We actually wanted to do that before I gotta leave back for college Sunday. So… don’t wait up.” She puts on her jacket, and grabs her keys, and heads for the door, with Ernest jumping up and following her.
“Smell ya later.” Ernest smirks as he follows Amanda to the car and begins to pick the others up. You two look at each other and chuckle.
“Ah, kids.” You say.
“I hope it won’t be R-rated.” Hugo chuckled a bit more uneasily.
“It probably will, but I know that my daughter can take care of herself, and hold those two in line.”
Soon you two sit down after making yourselves some brownie sundaes, and stayed up watching Long Haul Paranormal Ice Road Ghost Truckers. You two eventually fall asleep in front of the TV, cuddled up together. And in the morning, you two would wake up to yourselves covered by two blankets.
ok ok fuck. by popular demand here is a summary of my adventure zone homestuck au. god fucking hell
so 12 trolls play a game:
-rust: barrie, thief of heart, rust for redrobe
-bronze: magnus, heir of time (heirs rush in), earthy brown, low lifespan, latinx hc??
-gold: davpot, maid of blood (for bonds), gold bc pilot
-olive: ahvee, prince of doom, olive bc friendly and useful
-jade: mearle, page of life (power he doesnt know how to harness), jade bc plants and nuturing + religion
-teal: carrey, rogue of breath, teal bc dragons
-cerulean: lucrea, sylph of mind, cerulean bc psychic powers
-indigo: kilian, knight of rage (rage doesnt suit her but nothing else quite did either), indigo bc Strong
-purple: taakko ataaco (mage of void bc hes resourceful, a hands-on improviser) n chalup ataaco (witch of light bc shes active n direct + void n light r opposites), purple bc magic
-violet: johann, bard of hope, violet bc fish
-fuchsia: ayngus, seer of space (self explanatory), fuchsia bc he deserves the world
the universe is a jellyfish, whoever that is smiling inside the hunger is caliborn/lord english, edward and lydia are doc scratch
so theyve played through their session and theyre all standing on the lily platform ready to claim the ultimate prize, and magnus has just opened the door when the platform gets slashed. him, taako, and merle make it through before the break; lup was halfway through when the door was destroyed and enters the new universe already dead.
their reward in their session was to be reincarnated as humans in the new universe, with no memory of their previous life - they grow up as mags, taako, and merl. (note that theyre all 13 when the story takes place. merle just talks like an old guy)
mags lives in the suburbs with his pet goldfish, steven. steven glows white and shoots green lightning and can bend the laws of spacetime, but mags doesnt question this much. his stepdad who he named the fish after is dead, but he did leave the house full of chairs. fucker sure liked carpentry to an unreasonable degree, huh
taak lives in nyc (new york, but also an apartment in a city) and he fucking loves wizards. his house is just full of shitty wizards and experimental cookbooks. his older brother sazed, however, seems to love circuitously mocking his passions by leaving all these fuckin cakes around the house. the stairs are clogged with cake. its a deeply-layered mind game cooking war
merls been living on an island for as long as he can remember. his grandpa pan is a well known botanist, environmentalist, and explorer, and hes not home very often, so a lot of the time merl is just alone with his gardens. pan is super into pumpkins specifcally for some reason, and also filled the house with statues of goats n kenny chesney memorabilia
meanwhile, all the other trolls are stuck in the veil. similarly to what karkat thought of john when they first discovered the humans, like half the remaining group started to freak out about being apparently trapped on a meteor for the rest of their lives and the ensuing panic turned into resentment towards the thb for escaping. p much everybody but lucretia, barry, and angus started to lose their cool real bad
so to prevent everybody from making rash decisions and fucking over the thbs lives lucretia took the Executive Decision to wipe everyones memories with her psychic abilities. this broke davenport (as he was a psion she had to be more thorough with him to be sure the wipe worked, but she went too far and destroyed his mind, mituna style). barry, another powerful psychic, thought her measures were excessive at best and tried to stop her (make her pay but like. not fatal), retreating deep into the meteor when he proved unsuccessful. lucretia blamed a ton of stuff on him to make sure nobody would listen to him and ruin everything
from there, she took it upon herself to guide the thb into playing sburb, since that was the trolls only chance of getting out any more. the others on the meteor joined in one by one, without actually remembering anything about their old friends. there wasnt much lucretia could do to stop barry from contacting them from his own husktop, however; she could sometimes interfere with his signal, but that was it. so while his messages were sometimes garbled, he acted as an occasional guide in the same way he does in taz
so the boys play the game. lup is a jar of ashes on taakos shelf, his first sprite prototyping was an umbrella and the second was her. lupsprite. she only remembers fragments of their old life but they know theyre twins. magnus prototyped steven and a wooden duck. merle prototyped his grandpas book, the xtreme teen survival guide, and an onion
since they dont have a time or space player, their session is null. only by bringing in the trolls and their planets from the previous session will they be able to complete the game: this way their main quest leads directly to their friends being rescued, which works to lucretias advantage as she doesnt have to invent a reason why they should rescue the trolls.
everthing, of course, goes wrong. taak puts a bathtub in mags’ hallway.
Samurai Jack Series Finale Review [SPOILER WARNING]
With the story of Samurai Jack concluded on the twentieth of May broadcast as part of Adult Swim's late night action lineup, Toonami, longtime fans, as well as the younger generation of the series, have been left with in either awe or slight disappointment. Either way, the series has finally ended as wished. And it's a good thing, too, because then we would have to make our own unofficial ending. Haha. Anyway, with that said, I am here to express thoughts on the show's ending as well as explain the series' history and reception from viewers and yours truly. Of course, beware of spoilers.
History of the Samurai Jack Production Samurai Jack was created by a Russian American animator, director, storyboard artist, producer, and screenwriter named Genndy Borisovich Tartakovsky. The man is also known for works such as Dexter's Laboratory and Star Wars: Clone Wars as well as being involved in the development of Powerpuff Girls, Sym-Bionic Titan, Batman: The Animated Series, and non-Cartoon Network work, Hotel Transylvania. Tartakovsky's goal was to create a cartoon that captures the cinematic feel while incorporating action-packed, humorous, artistic and cultured elements. To add to it, Tartakovsky was actually quite a fan of the samurai culture and the bushido code himself when he was a child and even had a dream of wandering in a post-apocalyptic Earth fighting mutants with his crush. August 10th, 2001, Samurai Jack debuted on Cartoon Network with the three-part special titled "The Beginning". The premiere would receive high praise and positive ratings from critics and won four Primetime Emmy Awards. Eventually, a standalone DVD and VHS format was released on March 19th, 2002. The network ordered 52 episodes (four seasons; 13 episodes each) airing as part of the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and Toonami programming blocks. The final episode of season 4 would be aired on September 25th, 2004 (a day before my birthday, ouch).
Though, ended without an answer on whether Jack will ever get back to the past or not, fans were left sour with the sudden realization that his adventure was cut short. The last episode ended with Jack finding a baby and returning it to its mother after fighting through bounty hunters and ogres. The halt somewhat had to do with the production of Star Wars: Clone Wars and Tartakovsky not wanting to rush straight to the ending. They likely did not have the time to fully think of the right conclusion for the show. The show would eventually be aired with reruns on both Cartoon Network and sister channel, Boomerang, before being brought back (again) to Adult Swim's Toonami on February 1st, 2014. ...Then it would get removed again on January 25th, 2015.
Thirteen years later after the cancellation, Samurai Jack returned to television after the conclusion of season 4. The show aired on March 11, 2017 on Adult Swim as part of the Toonami action block with most of the original cast including Tartakovsky himself returning during the production with the exception of the late Mako (previous voice actor of main antagonist Aku) now replaced by his understudy, Greg Baldwin (who also took over as Avatar: The Last Airbender's Iroh during his passing). The season would contain more mature and darker elements to fit with the target audience, but still maintain its family feel the last seasons carried. Ten episodes later, the show finally concludes on the twentieth of May 2007.
The Final Conclusion of the Samurai Jack Fifty years have passed during Jack's struggle to return home; however, though time has aged, he did not. Jack was driven to despair by his endless quest to find a way back to the past and defeat Aku. The show started well with viewers discovering Jack is without his sword, the only thing that could defeat Aku, his armored gear, and a manly beard. Along the way, we would also see he struggles with a case of PTSD; experiencing hallucinations of his loved ones as well as children and civilians crying and moaning for him and seeing a mysterious armored figure on horseback. Jack would eventually come across everyone's favorite assassin, Scaramouche the Merciless (voiced by Tom Kenny), a jazzy flute playing android. Before battling, Scaramouhe noticed Jack's sword was missing. Laughing, he proceeded to make a call to Aku before he would get mauled by Jack. Scaramouche would use his signature flute which had the ability to make golems out of stone. After he eventually got his flute destroyed, he revealed that his voice was the true source of his ability, singing a tune to control the direction his blade would go. He also possessed a special "tuning sword", a weapon that would make anything explode within seconds after making contact. Eventually, Scaramouche was defeated due to his cockiness outplayed by Jack being one step ahead.
Jack eventually encounters seven human women named the Daughters of Aku. Born, raised, and trained by their mother, the High Priestess, they exist for the sole purpose of killing Samurai Jack. Jack was clearly outmatched by their speed, agility, and numbers. And even with heavy weaponry, he struggled. During the battle, Jack's hallucinations would continue to spawn. This time, it was his conscious acting out, or rather the anxiety he has been bottling for years. Jack continues to outrun the Daughters of Aku before having to avoid fighting them again in the ruined temple. Though, one of the women have caught up to him and tried to kill Jack. However, Jack got the upper hand and ended up slicing her throat with her blade before the horrified Jack escapes. Remaining hidden for dawn, Jack's conscious continues to haunt him over the fact he has never killed real flesh. Then, he recalls what his father told him after a bloodied encounter; the decisions he makes and the actions that follow are a reflection of who he is. Jack returned from hiding and battles the Daughters of Aku again after warning them. This time, with no hesitation, he succeeds in killing nearly all except for the leader, Ashi, before he would fall off the trunk of a tree. There, he would confront the persistent Ashi who continues to try to kill Jack even after being eaten an enormous creature. Jack's hallucinations would continue to spawn arguing over saving or leaving Ashi to die while Jack continues to protect her. What he had in mind was to convince her that Aku was truly evil and attempt to form a bond through humorous moments. After eventually escaping, Ashi tries to strike Jack again before she would see the light as he gently release a ladybug as opposed to remembering her mother killing it for not being a part of Aku's order.
The Scotsman is one of the fans' most favorite supporting characters in the Samurai Jack lore, maybe even the most favorite. So the reaction of him seeing him return for the season got everyone hyped for the episode. The Scotsman, elderly and wheelchair-bound, leaded an attack on Aku's tower, but to no avail. Aku destroyed two of the assembled armies. The Scotsman attempted to stall Aku in order to have his daughters escape. The Scotsman would then be killed by him, but returned to life as a specter and instructs her daughters to regroup and find Jack.
Jack's chemistry with Ashi started to pan out episode to episode with Ashi noticing Aku's destruction after Jack proved of Aku's evil nature. Ashi wanted to stop Aku then, but the deluded Jack claimed there was no way to defeat him. They would eventually enter a village where they encountered mind controlled children attacking them. Near the end of the episode, Ashi destroyed the device and saved them. However, Jack was horrified seeing them collapsed and believed they were dead. There, the mysterious armored figured appeared and guided Jack to the fog. Ashi arrived seeing the children alive and well, but saw Jack was nowhere near. Ashi started his search for Jack and, on the way, had one of the most beautiful transformations and developments in cartoon history, washing off her tarred body and creating her own clothing from nature. She would also encounter familiar grateful people who have helped Jack in the past including the Woolies, the three blind archers, the older Olivia who was now the DJ of the Ravers, and Da Sam-moo-rhai who was the bartender of the same bar he encountered Jack in. Meanwhile, Scaramouche, shown to be alive but without his body, was out to inform Aku Jack was missing his sword. Ashi eventually found Jack in a graveyard thanks to a mysterious small silhouette and stopped him from committing seppuku. They then set out to find Jack's sword. Jack remembered how he lost his sword which involved encountering Aku and being forced to killed three innocent goats transformed to monsters by him. Traumatized killing living creatures, Jack dropped his mystic sword to a deep pit. Returning to the current timeline, Jack and Ashi were not able to find the sword in the location. It was then he realized the sword abandoned him for his rage rather than accidentally losing it. Jack would meditate to find its whereabouts while Ashi keeps watch. While the meditation took Jack to an astral setting with an old monk, Ashi was battling an army of soldiers trying to kill Jack and the High Priestess, her mother. After the tea ceremony, the monk told Jack he lost his spiritual sense of balance and can't retain his sword without it. This would release the angered conscious that has been haunting Jack. Finally relinquishing  the anxiety and frustration of his, he regains the balance and his sword along with his original attire was given back to him by the gods Ra, Rama, and Odin. After returning, he and Ashi set out to find Aku.
Jack and Ashi continue their travels on a giant beast carrying passengers through the desert; however, they realized the passengers are also after Jack, so the two fought them off and escaped. Trapped in the sandstorm, they found shelter in a crashed spaceship, but they were not alone. Leech-like creatures scatter in the ship hunting Jack and Ashi. When the creatures formed together, they turned into a beast named Lazarus. Jack and Ashi escaped and came across a device that stops the said creature. Though, they were not able to activate the device straight away during their battle with Lazarus. Before they were completely engulfed by the creatures, Jack managed to set the device on and electrocuted the creatures. After they were saved, a smash cut of the two sharing passionate kiss to Dean Martin's "Everybody Loves Somebody" as the episode ends. Jack continues to bond with Ashi telling her of his life before Aku invaded his village. After so, he ventured off alone while Ashi was asleep. Jack entered a familiar field and found a portal was destroyed along with the Guardian's broken red glasses. Ashi eventually caught up to him seeing he left her in fear of losing her to Aku. However, the confident Ashi reassured they will defeat Aku together. At the moment, Scaramouche appeared with Aku, who he informed him Jack lost his sword, saw that Jack indeed did have his sword. Aku destroyed Scaramouche and left before sensing his own power in Ashi. The plot twist would show Aku did appear and left part of him in a goblet. It was assumed the High Priestess drank it and gave birth to seven of her children, which would confirm Ashi is his biological daughter. Aku would then possess and transform Ashi to a form resembling him. Jack tried to get Ashi to resist and remember her identity, but was unsuccessful. After wounding her, Ashi tells Jack he has to kill him, but Jack refused. Hopeless to save her, Jack dropped to his knees and laid his sword for Aku to hold up triumphantly.
At the final episode, Jack was seen imprisoned in Aku's fortress broadcasted for the entire world to see. The broadcast would use the intro that was used for the last four seasons as part of Aku's brief storytelling of his rivalry with Jack. After finishing, Aku mocked Jack's failure and threatened anyone who would defy him. Aku pondered on how he should kill Jack before eventually letting the possessed Ashi kill him. Before then, however, many of Jack's closest allies came to his rescue and try to fight off Aku. In the progress, Jack managed to free Ashi of her possession from Aku by telling her he loved her. Ashi discovered she is half demon with the same power Aku carries and opens a time portal back to Jack's time where Aku sent Jack to the future. When Jack returned, he was able to destroy Aku for good and save his family and village. In doing so, he rewrote the timeline for the future to come. Jack and Ashi's wedding ceremony was in preparation with them wearing their traditional wedding hakama and kimono as they were ready to live together. However, before Ashi would approach Jack, she collapsed and vanished from Aku's defeat in the past preventing her from existing. The episode ended with Jack wandering to the mystic woods, but gained hope for the future after seeing a ladybug lay on his hand reminding him of his time with Ashi. He would then let the ladybug go and stand under a blooming cherry blossom tree peacefully.
Overall Rating Samurai Jack is the kind of show that brings the adventure to viewers on a television screen. Since its debut, everyone watching was cheering for Jack to get back to the past, defeat Aku, and save everyone. Each time he was close, Aku ruined those chances, and brought him frustration along with people like me cursing Aku. However, that was not the only thing brought about. There were moments that defined Jack's character and the show's tone; from fighting battles for and with new made allies, fun and humorous skits, and lighthearted and emotional moments that had us shedding tears, Samurai Jack performed its best to deliver the best story, characterization, and animation direction any action cartoon fans would want. Season five did not fail to continue despite its transitions to the current generations. I believe it did well to not only pleasing the longtime fans of the series, but also gain new fans of the action genre as well. The only problem I had with the show is the fact it's only ten episodes. But other than that, I enjoyed the bond between Jack and Ashi and the thrill ride and am glad the show finally ended on a good note. And I also hope this opens the gate for Genndy Tartakovsky and other animators to get more creative with what they could attract with the younger and older audience for the action genre. Samurai Jack season 5 gets a rating of 4.5 out of 5.
----- Thank you for reading my first in depth review for a TV show. I have been a longtime fan of Samurai Jack since I was a child so I thought of expressing to friends and peers. I plan on doing more reviews like this for other works I've experienced as well. I will write a top ten favorite episodes of season 5 eventually, but until then, thank you again. And I'll see you next time. ^^
