I grew up watching that show and loved it to death, though I recognized even way back then how awful in many ways it was. And I think someone could do a much, much better show nowadays.

Warrior, which I was completely obsessed with for a while, came close, but it's a gangster show at its core, not a true Western (plus it was filmed in South Africa so the very few scenes that don'ttake place on a set don't look all that much like the locations they're supposed to). It's available on Netflix.

That post reminded me I still want to see some kind of wuxia Cowboy show. I have vague ideas for a MDZS Western AU, but I don't know if I'll ever flesh it out enough to write it.
