Reddit is the stupidest website on Earth. "Why do they keep making Captain Marvel films-?" There have been a grand total of two Captain Marvel films. "Why did they make a second Captain Marvel film-?" Because the first one made a billion dollars. "Why did they make a sequel if it ended up flopping-?" Do you think that Disney hires prophets to predict box office gross three years in advance?

The idea that Captain Marvel somehow got a second film because Brie Larson did a sexy photoshoot is maybe the stupidest most deranged conspiracy theory I've ever heard. And yes, it is in fact sexist. "But I'm not sexist-" then don't be sexist idk

How did you even get there! Am I genuinely supposed to go Constructive Criticism mode just to debate the finer points with a bunch of people who will never change their minds over an idea that is, fundamentally, fucking stupid?

The tension serves the characters and conflict, not the other way around! Stop making mysteries that weren't really mysteries and didn't even need solving!

I made the mistake of going on /r/KotakuInAction and arguing against the prevailing narrative.

Specifically, someone claimed that female villains get sympathetic motives and/or excuses, while male villains are simply bad, with no redeeming features. Like that one sentence with Wanda in Wandavision.

I disagreed, with examples. And pointed out how the complaints ignore the context of that statement. And, y’know, the entire show.

Three different people responded to me with three different, stupid arguments that contradicted each other, and they all thought they were backing each other up.

They could not be more stereotypically Reddit.

I’m not sure if I mentioned this before, but I stopped going to KIA regularly because I got tired of whining about the SW sequels and Rey in particular. I’ve had arguments defending her, and this argument was basically identical.

Because they were clearly making crap up as they went to justify what they already believed, but I got buried, because I broke the ‘jerk.

so we had to deal with a grown ass man yelling like he was on a rollercoaster during several parts of Deadpool & Wolverine.... and I am like gods strongest soldier for not attacking him like a Raccoon covered in bath salts escaping a hot dumpster. I told him to shut the fuck up twice and he didn't even register it. I loved the movie but there's a whole subset of MCU fans that feel like Reddit threads in human form and what I wanted to say to him is TOS violating (use your imaginations) :')

anyway, be kind to theater employees this (and every) time you go to see a movie. they aren't paid enough to deal with the kind of flat out pig fucking disgusting behavior they will deal with this weekend.

Hi, English is not my first language, but I needed some help and I love your posts about Loki. So, do you have any links to any sources or interviews where it was said that Loki was under the influence of the Mind Stone? Or is that just my crazy fantasy?

So it’s definitely not just a fantasy, it was implied in canon and also later confirmed by marvel that he was influenced by the mind stone. Although being influenced is sort of like… being high on drugs maybe. Not entirely the same as being controlled. Whether the stone brainwashed him completely is still debatable, but yea there was 100% something going on there.

I could maybe find more sources with a little more digging (because I was sure there was an interview referencing this somewhere), but from what I could gather, the confirmation came in the form of Marvel’s official website updating Loki’s character overview to include a bit about him being affected by the sceptre. Here’s the reddit post where fans first pointed out the change:
