Nostalgia Advent Calendar: MCR edition
Day 20: An MCR song that you listen to when you’re angry
I literally snorted.
Why? Because I just arrived to my folks for Christmas and at least last time a couple of weeks ago when I was here I really needed a song to calm me down or just help me channell my emotions. I love my folks but sometimes it’s just too much. Especially for a long time. And for this usually it’d helpful for me going out for a walk or for a short run and listen music.
MCR has many songs that I can relate to melodically when I’m angry. It can be quite aggrssive. With loads of drums or Gee screaming. Now that’s one way to go. But I noticed in the beginning of this month that I actually liked more songs that I could be more vocal about. And for this Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, count those Nas) is perfect.
When I listen to it I find the power in the song. There’s great rhythm and the instruments work great together. However, that could be in any upbeat song. But Na Na Na has all the time going on the Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na in the background and whenever you feel like you want to scream it, there’s a chance. Usually the first one is a must. The latter Na Na Na that goes a bit different is probably the best one, just cause it’s different and there’s only Na Na Na and now other lyrics. But except for Na Na Na I’ve noticed that when being angry I also like to concentrate to certain words or clauses that I can relate at the moment. Not fucking like a Kennedy but obvs swear words have a lot of emotion in them. Just like the refrain: everybody wants to change the world but no one wants to die.
It was btw incredibly difficult to write about how powerful and energized this makes me feel when I’m literally so close to snooze off. I’m telling you: packing stuff is no picnic.

Goodbye to a World (Porter Robinson)
Thank you, I'll say goodbye now/Though its the end of the world, don't blame yourself/And if its true, I will surround you and give life to a world/That's our own
"The feeling of it is. like someone dying, or otherwise leaving someone. and they don't want to leave them alone, but they have to go. and they don't want the person to be sad, they want them to live! and live happily! but it just reminds me of losing someone close to you and that feeling. it's bittersweet, almost. feeling glad that you got to know them, and sad that they're gone."
Poll Runner: So effing beautiful with headphones! The beginning ramp up sounds like you're in a cave filled with different coloured lights all swirling around you, getting more and more beautiful with every note- I couldn't phrase this more coherently if I tried. Oh yeah, and the lyrics are super sad.
Mama (My Chemical Romance)
Well mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongue/You should have raised a baby girl/I should've been a better son/If you could coddle the infection/They can amputate at once/You should've been/I could have been a better Well mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongueson
And when we go don't blame us/We'll let the fires just bathe us/You made us oh so famous/We'll never let you go/And when you go don't return to me my love
“Trans vibes”
"Omg omg. Intense as hell. Like sure the song is about going to hell but like holy shit. Every time I listen to it it’s like I’ve been possessed by some evil spirit or a pirate (there’s like a but that sounds like you’re on a sinking ship and you rock back and forth it’s so fun). And live!! Omg it’s the greatest thing in the world live."
"It’s very angry and very transgender and I am very transgender and it‘s nice to be angry with him. It’s also about the war and trying to mend relationships with one’s mother"
"Like many MCR songs, you have no choice but to sing along. It hits me in my core, especially the lines above. I heard it live and hearing a whole crowd chant "you should've raised a baby girl, I should've been a better son" made me realize that I'm truly not alone"

MCR quotes for anyone who needs them:
"Kids would say they were going to kill themselves then they heard our music... it's our mission"
- Mikey Way.
...
"Reasons why mcr is good for you
juradsleigh:
Feeling like a rad vampire? Listen to bullets
Feeling angry? Listen to 3 cheers
Feeling sad? Listen to black parade
Feeling colourful and happy? Listen to danger days
Feeling like breaking up your band? Listen to death never stop you"
...
"This is for every kid out there... That dyed their hair a fucked up colour and can't get a job. They got a tattoo on their neck like Frank, and can't get a job. That does this because they fuckin' love this. This song is for every kid in the audience- even if you don't have fucked up hair or tattoos-every kid on stage, this song's about us, this song's about you, it's called The Kids From Yesterday."
- Gerard Way.
...
"Stop covering your children's eyes.
Everything is fucked up and pretending it's not won't make it any better. I'm tired of people praying for a change when it's up to them to get off their asses and make a change."
- Frank Iero.
...
"I spent most of my time in the back of the class, just drawing. My goal was to not get noticed in school, because spent so long not being noticed anyway or being treated as if I were invisible that I started to like it.
I've learned that it's actually not very lonely... It's like, you have less friends but the friends you have count more. I met a lot of people that weren't outsiders, or they were very popular, and they have a lot of friends but I don't know if they're the kinds of friends you would call up at 3 am to help you out or talk about being depressed."
- Gerard Way.
...
"Promise me, when MCR's gone, you'll do what it takes to survive. You're strong enough to do it without us."
- Gerard Way.
...
"All your quirks and all your problems, even your depressions, and your failures that's.. that's what makes you, you."
- Gerard Way.
...
"If you or someone you know is severely depressed you need to fucking talk to someone! Your mom, someone in school, I don't give a fuck! Because suicide is fucking bullshit."
- Gerard Way.
...
"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."
- Gerard Way.
...
"Nothing is worth hurting yourself over, nothing is worth taking your life over"
- Gerard Way.
...
"If we never play another show again, just keep yourself alive."
- Gerard Way.
...
"We're outsiders, we're the kids who didn't get dates for the prom, we're the kids who were confused, who didn't fit in with the cliques, who weren't part of the in-crowd.
Growing up can be a very frightening and confusing time, and I think people look at us and see it's okay to be different. They see that there is a way other than what they're being offered. That you can stand out, that you can be creative, that you can be yourself."
- Gerard Way.
...
"gerard-hey:
I love MCR so much it's like they have a song for every situation. Feeling sad? Listen to The Lights Behind Your Eyes. Feeling frustrated? Listen to I'm Not Okay. Feeling Energetic? Listen to Na Na Na. Feeling like you wanna kick some ass? Listen to Destroya.
Feeling rebellious? Listen to Teenagers. Feel like you wanna break up your band? Listen to Fake Your Death."
...
"The difference we want to make is, number one, to let these kids know that they're not alone, that they're actually not that messed up, and that they can do whatever they want they can express themselves in any way they want without being persecuted or called a faggot or some kind of racist thing. Really just get people to get over their stuff so they can live."
- Gerard Way.
...
"Whatever happens to you, no matter what, l'm always fucking there for you... Don't forget that. I don't give a shit if your boyfriend dumps you. If your girlfriend dumps you. If you're working a shitty job or can't get through school. If you can't get through a fucking Harry Potter book, there's nothing worth dying over. There's nothing worth taking your life over. I will always fucking be there."
- Gerard Way.
...
"If you come to an MCR show, you're probably a little fucked up, and that's okay because we're just as fucked up as you. It's us against the world. And it's great because there's thousands of us in one place."
- Gerard Way.
...
"Someone doesn't like you? Fuck it.
Having a bad day? Fuck it. Didn't get that job, or that grade, or that promotion you wanted? Fuck it. Fighting with your lover? Fuck it. Feel fat today? Fuck it. Losing control of everything and everyone? Fuck it.
What matters now won't matter soon; the truly important thing is that you are alive, and that you have the capacity to do absolutely anything with this beautiful, crazy coincidence of being on this earth. Just stick your middle fingers in the air and think, 'Damn, I have it good."
- Gerard Way.
...
"You're going to come across a lot of shitty bands, and a lot of shitty people. And if anyone of those people call your names because of what you look like, or bedause they don't accept you for who you are. I want you to look right at that mother fucker, stick up your middle finger and scream
"FUCK YOU!!"
- Gerard Way.
...
"Real revenge is making something of yourself."
- Gerard Way.

Eulogy from a fan
MCR has been my favourite band for 20 years now. Maybe I’m weird, but I love their music to the point where I have trouble just putting on one of their songs casually or placing one of their songs on a playlist with multiple artists. I like to listen to their albums in full, or at least have a rotation going specifically of just their vast and varied music. I adore just about all music, and they’re the only artist I do this with.
When I first fell in love with MCR—and I fell for them hard—they were a group of five: Gerard, Frank, Ray, Mikey, and Bob. 14-year-old me was absolutely crazy about all of them. I thought they were the coolest people in music, and any small piece of legit information about any of them got me so excited.
Before social media was standard, everything I learned about them I learned from interviews and performance footage. I’ve always remembered Bob as that silly and immensely talented blond guy in the group who was the only one not from New Jersey (Chicago). They did so many group interviews together, and behind-the-scenes music video specials for Fuse, and Bob was always smiling and laughing with the rest of them. They were clearly a family of many talents, and Bob got to finally showcase what he was capable of on The Black Parade.
There is no understating how memorable and standout the drums are on The Black Parade. I don’t know the technical terminology and I’m definitely not a music student, but the drums on that album hit me in the heart, especially on Welcome to the Black Parade. Bob clearly knew what he was doing, loved what he was doing, and as far as the rest of us know, the only reason he wasn’t with My Chemical Romance to the end was because of issues with his wrists.
I loved Bob’s work so much, I went to the trouble of learning which songs on Danger Days had kept his contributions; not surprisingly, they were all my favourites on the album (Na Na Na, Bulletproof Heart, The Only Hope for Me is You, Party Poison, and Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back (my number one fav from DD)). I didn’t hear Conventional Weapons until after they’d broken up completely, but again every song was a banger and again Bob’s work was excellent.
I saw them live twice when Bob was in the band, but the only time I saw all five of them together on stage was in December 2005 (during their TBP tour, at least one of the band members was taking a break for health reasons when I saw them, but I don’t remember who). I’ll never forget how excited I was that first time I saw them, and I’ll never forget how much love I had for all five of them.
I’m not going to speculate about what happened. This is meant to be a respectful message about how much Bob meant to me as a fan during the height of MCR’s career. I’m writing all this knowing as much as the rest of the fan base about his passing, which isn’t much. I read that disgusting announcement by TMZ, same as all of you, and it made me so angry.
Within the first hour of the announcement of his passing, there were already (presumably AI-generated) compilation videos of Bob on YouTube. This is the only reason I’m not bothering to put a video together myself, I can’t compete with robots, so instead I’m here to say that Bob Bryar was and always will be one of the best drummers of the 2000s era of music, and whether you want him to be or not, he is iconic.
I was so sad when I heard he wasn’t in the band anymore, and I’m sad now. He deserved so much better, at the very least he deserved love and support, as we all do.
Rest In Peace Bob.

thinking about teen regressor Ford (~16-18 age range)
I feel like usually he'd be like his typical major league nerdy self, just a little more anxious and soft spoken, like how he seemed to be as an actual teen.
Two of his biggest tells are being quite a bit less boisterous than he is when big, and sticking to Stan like the two got super glue stuck to them.
I imagine he'd opt to do that or just read alone somewhere. He wouldn't like being around that many people when regressed other than Stan, Dipper, and Mabel. Even then he's worried about being around the kids because, being an anxious teen, he's worried he'll mess something up and they'll think he's lame or something (which could never happen but that doesn't stop his brain from being a butt).
He doesn't really need to be looked after since he's capable of doing that himself when regressed, but that doesn't stop Stan from coddling his brother despite this. He'll make tons of jokes about having a "little brother," poke fun at him and ruffle his hair and stuff. Half the time, before either of them even realize it, Stan's probably regressed too, and they get up to some 16-18 year old boy shenanigans (probably pulling pranks on each other and vandalizing abandoned buildings and stuff. Stan tends to be the instigator of both of these but Ford has fun with it too).
And that's how he'd usually be. However, I'd also like to imagine he's sometimes an edgy teen regressor, too >:] (headcanons for that under the cut)
He'd learn what being emo is from like Mabel or Wendy and subconsciously act like that when regressed at times. He didn't really realize he did it at first, but when he does he just kinda rolls with it.
It doesn't happen often, but sometimes he just feels the need to be angsty and upset, so he expresses that by being an emo teen.
Y'know the black turtleneck he has when he first comes through the portal? He just HAS to wear it when regressed and edgy, without fail, it's like the only tell anyone gets to know for sure that he's an angsty teen for the time being.
He also has a pair of jeans that had gotten ripped from previous explorations/hikes/creature hunts/etc. that he wears because it just feels Right. He'll wear those when not regressed too, though, so it's hard to tell if he's regressed from the pants alone.
If Stan's regressed with him then edgy Ford is much more likely to join in on being troublesome and a menace.
Mabel makes a playlist of like emo, alt, indie songs with him that he listens to. Maybe she's just starting to enter her own edgy teen phase, and they're just kinda angsty together. They make kandi and stuff together and have a fun time jamming out to MCR and Set It Off and it's just a fun time for both of them.
Ford usually uses these edgy regressor moments to be angry though, so he likes to be alone more often than not. He'll listen to angry music and scream into his pillow and kick his bed and just generally be upset about various parts of his past. Sometimes he'll accidentally ram his hand against the wall or break something sharp, and that's usually a sign to himself to start calming down. Stan tends to give him space, but at times like these he's sure to check in on him to make sure he hasn't hurt himself. If he has, he'll help bandage him up or clean off his hand or whatever he needs, and comfort him as best he can. Sometimes Ford and Stan will just hug and let each other cry for a while.
They're always there for each other, regressed or not. :]

the batfam's fave music genres:
Dick: pop girlie through and through - big abba fan, loves britney and tswift, seeing yoncé live is the best thing that ever happened to him
Jason: musical theatre nerd - he looooves newsies so much, used to dream abt being a broadway star; occasionally dabbles in folk music and leftist protest songs (he knows the lyrics to both Solidarity Forever and The Internationale)
Tim: 2000s emo/pop punk guy - loves mcr and green day, simple plan for when he's feeling particularly angsty, nirvana when he's angry at the world
Steph: extremely eclectic tastes, her fave playlist goes from skrillex to taylor swift to cardi b to disney to daft punk to tupac to
Damian: big k-pop fan - loves bts (but would never admit it ever) - but mainly listens to arabic rock
Duke: he's a boyband guy through and through - nsync, backstreet boys, one direction, jonas brothers - if they're a group of men making silly pop songs, he's into it EDIT: have been informed that duke canonically likes heavy metal that critiques the american prison/judicial system (which is so fucking cool)
Cass: heavy metal, death metal, gothic metal - her favourite band is Nightwish
Bruce: he likes 'old' music - frank sinatra, billie holliday, the andrews sisters, johnny cash - and, somewhat incongruously, Marina Diamandis
Others:
Babs: she loves opera and has a particular fondness for prokofiev and wagner (inherited from her dad, they used to go to the Gotham Opera together)
Selina: latin pop - gloria estefan, enrique iglesias, ricky martin, selena - as well as reggaeton and salsa (she loves to take bruce salsa dancing bc he's a pretty good dancer and can throw her around a bit)
Clark: he loves country music - johnny cash, dolly parton (he met her as superman and got her autograph), shania twain, orville peck - but he mainly listens to podcasts bc he's a nerd (affectionate)
Talia: like damian, she enjoys arabic rock but also arabic folk music, bollywood music, and frank sinatra (like selina, she likes to take bruce dancing except it's swing dance instead of salsa)

✨A thought about the TSL musical✨
So, Simeon directs The Tale of the Seven Lords: The Musical in the Pop Quiz "Henry and the Seven Lords", right?
I was cleaning while listening to music and was struck by a vision. A vision, I tell you! Listen. Henry and the Lord of Shadow dueting this:
youtube
We don't know much about the plot of the series, but it is mentioned in the trivia competition against Leviathan that the Lord of Masks does something to the Lord of Shadow in the upcoming release. This surprises Leviathan as he predicted that the two lords were going to make up.
SO PICTURE THIS:
The Lord of Masks has launched a surprise attack on the Lord of Shadow, Henry arriving too late to assist their friend. They reach the land surrounding the third lord's castle to find it ravaged. Blood-soaked earth pools beneath dying soldiers as medics tend to those who still cling to life. In the middle of it all is the Lord of Shadow, paralyzed with shock and grief. Upon seeing Henry, he lifts his head and lets out a mournful, "Remember me."
He is angry. He is spiteful. When he needed Henry most, they weren't there. Henry had promised to stand by him, and yet, they were nowhere to be found when he needed them most. He gestures to the ruin around him, challenging Henry to explain their absence.
Henry tries to interject, tries to apologize. The Lord of Shadow realizes then that Henry would never betray him. He launches into the chorus, pleading with Henry to stand with him and find a way to rebuild.
The song builds with the third lord repeating his need for Henry's aid in the bridge. Then everything goes dark save for a spotlight on Henry as they sing the solo line, "If there's a place that I could be, then I'd be another memory."
Then this is followed by a super intense last chorus where they sing to each other and the wounded soldiers dance dramatically in the background and fill out the ensemble parts. During the outro, Henry would be singing the "Remember me" part as if to switch the roles and insist that the Lord of Shadow should have faith in Henry's character.
It's perfect, okay? MCR is so theatrical. Their songs are meant to be acted out. Like, damn.
Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk. Let me know if you want more TSL musical scenes that come to me like a fever dream.

My Top 10 Favorite Choruses And An Explanation For Each
It’s hard to explain the appeal of music without a great education in it but I’ll try anyway. There’s nothing I love more than a good chorus and I will tell the world about it. Nothing can stop me, not my mom, the difficulty of explaining music, or god. So here’s my favorite courses and explanations after that.
Of Mind - Nocturne / Tesseract
Bleak / Opeth
Bodies / Sex Pistols
As The World Caves In / Matt Maltese
Romantic Homicide / d4vd
The Diary of Jane / Breaking Benjamin
Head Mounted Sideways / Vola
West Coast Smoker / Fall Out Boy
The Ghost of You / My Chemical Romance
Psychopomp / Thank You Scientist
10th favorite chorus Psychopomp / Thank You Scientist
Starting with a weird one. Psychopomp is a song by the prog band Thank You Scientist. It's long and a bit of an adventure with strange choices all around. Strange doesn’t equal bad as I find the song a fascinating listen that pulls me in.
But in order to explain the chorus we have to talk about the build up. The singing starts fairly low key compared to the harsh progy instrumentation of the intro. with the instruments the singing builds slowly. They have time. This song is a whopping 9 and a half minutes long. So they build into the first thing that sounds like a pre chorus but it’s not it goes into more build up, and then the chorus begins!
“You separate the physical from the unknown.” mysterious lyrics sung with power and length of delivery while the melodies of the instruments are pounding in a way not unlike Bleak by Opeth, my second favorite chorus but we will get to that.
He continues the long powerful delivery before speeding up with the line “cause you are eachother if you see your mother tell her” to me this feels like he’s letting us breath by spreading up and weakening the delivery if the powerful delivery kept going it would be overwhelming and boring. The rhyme scheme also picks up “eachother, mother, her.” coming rapid fire.
He continues the powerful delivery with “and you can’t afford to leave.” finally he finishes the chorus with “your paralyzed” the line that is the shortest of the chorus making it incredibly impactful. before sending us back to the beginning with the progy instrumentation.
The instrumentation is also interesting. In the beginning it was overwhelming but compared to the pounding of the chorus it almost seems like it’s allowing us to breathe. Despite it’s strange progyness.
In summary, please come back Thank You Scientist we miss you.
9th favorite chorus the The Ghost of You / My Chemical Romance
The first of the more well known songs on the list. This is my favorite MCR chorus. It’s very emo obviously but it’s emotional in a way unlike other MCR songs. The instrumentation in the beginning gives off to me a hopeless feeling. Unlike MCR’s more angry style on other songs.
This hopeless feeling is not reinforced but built on by the chorus where he sounds like he’s howling for something. I don’t quite understand what the song is about but someone has definitely died and he’s howling about how they are never coming back.
And the line “at the end of the world or the last thing I see.” is such a powerful intro to the chorus.
As a kid when I first heard this song (my brother showed it to me he was and still is a fan) I thought it was different from the others it really stood out to me. Helena never caught my attention for whatever reason and nothing from Black Parade would get me till I listened to the album in full but this song and its video hit me hard.
So a big part of why I love it so much is nostalgia plain and simple. But the emotion of that chorus is what caught my attention in the first place. And I think that says a lot. Even to a kid who had no idea about death I could understand that he is hurting and that is something to take note of.
I’ll post more analysis at a later time. see you!

For my youth interview
Cw: Dark!! Mentions of past abus*ve relationship(physical and sexual), suicidal attempts, past pedophilia(kai was the victim), mentions of infertility, drinking problems, let me know if there is any I missed
Taglist: @mynameisnotlaura
Tumblr media
Px: Annyeong! My name is Pixie from straykids, but you may call me Kai. (She waves at the camera and blows it kisses)
Q: What is "For my youth" about?
Px: For my youth... it's a very raw, emotional part of myself. I try and make sure my image before now is the silly kind, I hate seeing anyone in pain or sad, so I don't like showing my emotions other than positive ones.
Px: I never had a good grasp of emotions growing up. My childhood was cut short because of me becoming a trainee, and I was not able to come to terms with my emotions through puberty. While other trainees at least had some semblance of a social life, I was always training or too busy teaching others to actively partake in regular emotional stability.
Px: so in a way, For my Youth is therapy?(She laughs) it's basically a love letter to myself.
Q: Who is the ex you talk about in your songs?
Px: Oh my (she blushes, holding her cheek, embarrassed) he was my first relationship I had. I was fifteen and he was... late into being nineteen?
Px: Don't look at me like that. So many people look at me with pity when I tell them that, and I hate being regarded with pity. (She sighs)
Px: It was... not a good relationship. We fought constantly. We were both jealous of the other's time away. I would be training with Chan and he would get so... angry. I had threatened the girls he was talking to, it was not a fun thing. I felt so.. ugly when I was with him.
Px: He had a massive drinking problem. Some days he would come to the dorm and...(her eyes glossed over at the memory) ...I'd rather not speak of it.
Px: Whenever I was able to have my phone, he would only let me talk to him. He was able to talk to whoever he wanted, but I was lucky if I was even allowed to talk to my mother once a month. The relationship lasted a year and I was only able to talk to my parents... about a collective two times? One during Easter and one during Chuseok.
Px: (she clears her throat) Back then, I was so blinded by love of this... man. He was so sweet one minute, and then he would be violent. I can't tell you how many times he forced himself upon me, that now it's hard to say whether I would be able to have kids (she laughs bitterly) which really sucks because my dream was to be a mother. (She tilts her head back to avoid the tears to fall)
Q: Why did you include a song such as Bullet in For my Youth
Px: Ah, Bullet... it was originally supposed to be a Stray Kids song but we decided not to because of the very dark concept it had. I still have the demo of the us singing it together (she laughs softly)
Px: I wrote it before I joined JYP at thirteen. I was twelve and I really enjoyed listening to bands like MCR and Guns and Roses. It was the time where I would hurt myself, I still have the scars from the time. Not physically but...
Px: The second time I revised it was back in 2022, right after my second attempt. I was so depressed after my parents passing that I didn't even think about the effect it would have on my family and especially my brother. I was very depressed, I think the most I was in my life. I blame myself, y'know. And don't say it wasn't, because they wouldn't have died if that guy wasn't a "fan" of mine.
Px: I think that's the irony of Bullet. The happy tone of me singing shows how us idols, especially women, have to be all happy on the outside while we all have problems.
Q: What is the biggest message you want people to take away from your album?
Px: funny answer or serious answer? (She pauses) serious answer? That you can overcome anything. You are much stronger than you look, and you may be the reason a friend is still with you today. Don't make your past your present, and don't ever make it your future. You are so much more than your past.
Bonus:
Px: Funny answer? Capitalise your trauma and cry on company time. (Winks)

Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Green Day)
My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me/My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beatin’/Sometimes, I wish someone out there will find me/’Til then, I walk alone
“Much angst very 15 year old”
Poll runner: I have to concur... 15 year old me was a big fan

☆Don Flamenco Headcanons☆
My favorite balding man with eyeliner, he is so girlypop and slay
- Keeps accidentally flirting with people, his flirting skills are just on autopilot
- can and will cry over his favorite shows, either from sadness or happiness
- cries when he gets angry, has done this around bald bull, aran ryan & glass joe
- makeup skills ON POINT!!!! will practice makeup on anyone willing (or unwilling if said person has pissed him off)
- the first time he got his wig (shut up i know its not called a wig i forgor the name) knocked off during his fight with mac, he got bullied so hard that he just layed on the floor while staring at the ceiling when he got home, carmen was concerned & considered convincing him to get therapy
- during his emo era he started to listen to my chemical romance, still listens to it to this day, play any mcr song around him and he'll have literal war flashbacks
- went to the forbidden section at spencers and got traumatized (also during his emo era)
- really wants to get his ears pierced but scared of needles & infections
- knew he couldnt escape the baldness™ since it runs on both his mom and dads side
- has had a game of tic tac toe played on his humoungus forehead when he got knocked out during a fight, it was stuck there for 2 months and hes still hunting whoever did it
- good at flirting, bad at giving compliments that dont make him look like a serial killer
- "your skin is so pretty, if i saw it on a purse id buy it as soon as possible, skincare tips?"
- "suddenly i feel like whipping out the taser"
- speaking of skin, he has a 20 step skincare routine & does it with carmen
- had long hair at some point, cut it because someone said he looks like alejandro from total drama island
- drinks fruity cocktails religiously (You can see the joke coming from a mile away)
- loves eating fruit (omg cannibalism)
- really clumsy, not in the "oopsies im tripping again!! 🥺🥺" way but the "i keep knocking shit over & everything breaks in my hands what the fuck" way
- #1 gossip fan, always up to date on drama
- allergic to shrimp, idk hes just allergic to it he seems like the type to be allergic to shrimp
- turns into a tornado siren whenever he sees a bug, doesnt matter if its 1 centimeters tall & moves 1 inch every blue moon he wants it dead now.
- fashionably late at any social event he goes to
- parties hard
- calling his satchel a purse is one way to get him to murder you, it just pisses him off a whole lot
- "Nice purse!"
-"ITS A SATCHEL YOU FAILED ABORTION"
- posing for the paparazzi, slaying as usual

Each Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge songs in one sentence.
according to me
Helena:
It has a very 'radio hit single' sound, it's still very good and will have me singing along.
Give 'Em Hell, Kid:
(The beginning of this song makes me go feral) It's a droner, the guitars sound and are mixed in a way were they sound continuous, like a car motor, It hits my ears like a wall and is not only all over this album but all over 2000s rock as well.
To the End:
When ever I listen to this song it feels like it could go on forever, they main riffs and drums make it feel like staring out a window in bus or car, it just keeps going.
You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison:
The droning riffs it feels similar to Give 'Em Hell, Kid but is spliced up with choppy bits that add to the overall feel and make it a song that sounds like a nervous breakdown turned angry rampage.
I'm Not Okay (I Promise):
She's a droner again, same stuff I said as well as sounding very very 'hit radio single', its an easy song to digest and is kinda overplayed nowadays (in my opinion).
The Ghost Of You:
This song is bipolar, the melodic bits in-between juxtaposed with the chorus give the feel of someone catastrophising a bad situation to the point of breakdown, or your on a rollercoaster and just hit the top.
The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You:
MASSIVE droner here, specifically the chorus, the rest of the song is spliced nicely with fun guitar complex guitar parts and harmonic piano. It also sounds as if MCR took a beloved pop song and gave it their own rock-spin on it.
Interlude (yes this counts):
Its sounds like a song you'd hear on a religious radio station in the middle of the woods or someone writing/practicing it through the walls of a cheap apartment.
Thank You for the Venom:
Its a growly song, from the guitar to the way the word are sung, it sounds like an angry creature on the attack, the solo kinda sounds helicopter-ish too.
Hang 'Em High:
YE HAW, I know this song cant escape the cowboy comparisons but that is for a reason, other than that this song sounds out of breath and desperate, like someone on the run, it's got that same continuous motion feel as Too the End,
It's Not a Fashion Statement, It's a Deathwish:
It's got that same continuous motion feel as Too the End and Hang 'Em High (three in one wow) this one feels a bit more like a drunk man stumbling to the end of the earth, it keeps moving but unstably and erratically.
Cemetery Drive:
Similar to Ghost Of You with the changing moods but this time it feels more fatigued, the lows are low and the highs are falling quicker to the lows (the drums at the beginning marching band like in this for no reason).
I Never Told You What I Do for a Living:
Its choppy and aggressive, there's a creature attacking and they're putting everything they've got into killing, it won't stop and there is nothing you can do.

oh also speaking of music I was listening to Evanescence the other night and it really struck me how weird that era of goth-pop-alt music was? Like that post-9/11 period when goth and emo and pop punk and alternative were SUPER in and relatively mainstream but because the music world was really hostile and walking on eggshells because nobody wanted to get Dixie Chicksed, the stuff that was mainstream and accessible tended to be uhhhhh kind of about nothing? like SO MUCH alt music I remember getting a lot of play in the 2000s is just about mid-tier breakups. even the numetal and pop punk stuff which is like. genres made to be angry at The System in.
and it's not that those songs were BAD, obviously. like musically they're really thought through and a lot of those artists really put in the work. but ok like Evanescence. the music is sweeping. Amy Lee is putting her WHOLE PUSSY into selling the heartbreak and angst of the songs. which, of their big hits, are almost all in their entirety, 'we used to have a kind of codependent relationship and now we've broken up.'
I'm not sure this theory holds up cause like. Popular alternative music was certainly not fully apolitical. System of a Down peaked at that time. American Idiot, obviously. And bands like Disturbed and Slipknot certainly managed to find some time to talk about political repression and social alienation in between writing 1200000 songs about beating your girlfriend up and how it's Not Fair She Won't Date Me Even Though I'm Right Here, respectively.
(and to be clear. this is all music that I like. although Corey Taylor occasionally gets too whiny for me tbh)
and I legit don't know to what degree this was actually a thing, to what degree it's basically always the case that the most popular Angsty Alt Music For Teens has more to do with breakups than political unrest, and to what degree I personally was just listening to the wrong music in 2005.
(but I'm not really so much thinking of the music I liked at the time but the music that was like, what you reached for when you were naming Alternative Music - your Evanescence, HIM, Slipknot, MCR, FOB, Panic!, Green Day, Blink 182, Disturbed, Linkin Park, all the stuff a kid in eyeliner listened to. some of which I did not, I never got the hang of HIM and I think I maybe missed a trick not getting into Linkin Park bc I understand they made some good stuff but I hated Numb so much at the time, I couldn't cope with them. even though look on lyrics alone it's not a bad song. it works. whatever.)
